NORTH BERGEN (June 17, 2011) – Undefeated lightweight prospect Reynaldo Ojeda of North Bergen, NJ by way of Canovana, Puerto Rico is set to make his American debut next Wednesday, June 22 at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ when he faces Edgardo Torres of Vineland, NJ.

Ojeda, 22, has an unblemished record of 4-0 (2 KO) and was a two-time National champion during his 60-fight amateur career in his native Puerto Rico. Torres has a record of 1-1. Ojeda turned pro in 2009 and signed with Miguel Cotto Promotions, but took time off to study to become a math teacher at The University of Turabo.

The college senior Ojeda has now turned his attention back to boxing, relocating to North Bergen, NJ to train with former world cruiserweight champion Carlos “Sugar” De Leon at Global Boxing Gym. De Leon, also from Puerto Rico, is one of the greatest cruiserweight world champions of all-time, having won the world title four times in that division en route to a 53-8 (33 KO) record.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to advance my career in America,” said Ojeda. “My dream is to win a world title and bring it back home to my people and make them proud.”

In the main event, Ossie Duran (25-8-2, 9 KO’s) of Paterson, NJ via Accra, Ghana will do battle with Latif Mundy (10-2, 4 KO’s) for the USBA Regional Middleweight Championship that is scheduled for ten rounds.
