USA Knockouts to be the New United States Franchise of the World Series of Boxing

COSTA MESA, Calif. – A new American franchise will compete in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) action in the third season of this innovative, global boxing league, and they will call Orange County home. The USA Knockouts will compete in their first fight show of the season at The Hangar on the grounds of the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa, Mesa, Calif., on November 15, 2012.

As a franchise, the USA Knockouts will bring outstanding international boxing action to Southern California and Orange County specifically. The United States have struggled globally in the sport of boxing, coming off a disappointing performance at this summer’s London Games. USA Knockouts will assist in rebuilding the sport nationally and allow athletes to gain traction and success at an international level.

USA Knockouts is also proud to announce that they will partner with Roy Englebrecht Promotions for their inaugural fight this season. Roy Englebrecht, a veteran in the boxing industry and promoter of the Fight Club OC series, which also calls The Hangar home, will serve as the squad’s promoter and operations consultant for the November event.

“I am pleased to assist in the launch of the World Series of Boxing’s USA Knockouts in Orange County, and am excited that they selected The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center as the team’s first venue. With the tremendous success of our fight shows in The Hangar, I am sure our Fight Club OC fight fans will also support the USA Knockouts,” Englebrecht said.

The 2012-13 USA Knockouts regular season will run from November to March with the first home match scheduled for November 15. The regular season will feature home and away match-ups with World Series of Boxing squads from the United Kingdom, Germany, Kazakhstan, Italy and Ukraine. World Series of Boxing franchises includes teams from Poland, Azerbaijan, Moscow, Argentina, Mexico and China and the Knockouts could face off with any of the international squads in playoff action in late spring.

The Knockouts also announced that undefeated heavyweight Natu Visina will fill the heavyweight spot on the November 15th show. Visina is 8-0 with 7 KOs and is from nearby Lakewood, and won three bouts in 2010 on Battle In The Ballroom shows at the Irvine Marriott. The remaining four fighters on the USA Knockout squad will be announced later this week.

Tickets for the Thursday, November 15th show are priced at $50 and $40 and can be purchased online at www.fightcluboc.com.
