Misquoted? Misunderstood maybe? Brash? Brazen? Outspoken, brave, no doubt! What is for sure is that James DeGale is going to be boxing’s next big name.

With Fights out there versus Carl, George, Bika, Stephenson, Oosthuizen, Buté, Pascal, Abraham, Kessler…at least three of which will be made within the next 12 months, a new, more mature and knowledgeable ‘Chunky’ is raring to go.

Disappointments and let downs have seen fights with Kenny Anderson, Brian Magee and the exciting South African Bomber Oosthuizen fall by the wayside. A last minute offer by James to fight Pascal as a replacement for the injured Buté was politely declined, but was a perfect illustration of James’ intent.

James will be a keen observer of the upcoming Froch vs Kessler bout. A real Man versus Man affair. Ever the true Brit, James will be rooting for Carl to emerge victorious. Assuming that he does, it opens the doors to a real festival of fights with Andre Ward coming back into the picture!

Will he fight Carl? If he does, James and George can begin what, for one of them, will be ‘The Road to Perdition’. It may be that Carl will want to fight George who is his stable mate? If he does, James will set out after the WBC belt and then look to step up and fight Andre Ward.

This may surprise some who regard Ward as the complete fighter.

Fact is, he has a four-year head start on James as a pro. Both won Olympic Golds – look ‘em up. James’s was far harder and GB’s only boxing gold in Beijing, China. Ward has been relatively inactive as a a pro’ – just 24 fights in nine years. He has to come back from an injury-forced layoff, and has his head in two weight classes.

Both are instinctive and incisive fighters. We have seen what Ward can do. No one has yet seen anything like what James can do. They fight. James wins. You read it here. Now call Betfair and get on it!! 2014..Chunky will beat the man!

James is taking his Canadian debut versus Sebastien Demers tonight very seriously. Having been fit BUT inactive since last December, despite nearly a-thousand rounds of sparring, he is keen to shake off the rust, put on the little mitts and give boxing fans a sample of what’s to come.

James DeGale, Possibly “The Best Super middle weight in the World”.
