Polish Action Hero ‘Diablo’ Wlodarczyk Fight Nominated for “Fight of the Year” and “Dramatic Fight of the Year” by WBC

At the third day of 51st WBC Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, the WBC announced that WBC Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk’s dramatic come-from-behind victory over Rakhim Chakhkiev, last June at the Dynamo Palace of Sports in Krylatskoye, Moscow, Russia, has been nominated for Fight of the Year” and “Dramatic Fight of the Year”.

Making the fifth defense of his title, Wlodarczyk came off the canvas to drop Chakhkiev, a gold medalist 2008 Beijing Olympics, in round six, seven and eight, before finally gaining the stoppage in round eight. The fight was a sensational back-and-forth war, which teetered on the brink of victory for both men at different times.

Wlodarczyk (48-2-1, 34 KOs) will return to action on Friday, December 6, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago when he defends his title against former champion Giacobbe “Gabibbo” Fragomeni (31-3-2, 12 KOs).

Presented by Andrew Wasilewski and Piotr Werner of Ulrich Knockout Promotions, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing and Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Promotions, “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3” will also include the return of Chicago’s Polish Prince, Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 14 KOs).

With a series of successful Pay-Per-View shows and packed houses to it’s credit, the Warriors business model is working wonders in a sport that was sorely in need of the innovation and energy that the company brings to the table.
