Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing is proud to announce the signing of 2013 Chicago Golden Gloves Champion and undefeated welterweight professional Eddie “The Barber” Ramirez (4-0, 3 KOs) to a promotional contract.
22-year-old Ramirez, from Aurora, Illinois, will make his debut under the Warriors banner on their Friday, July 25, show entitled “Conquerors”, which will be presented in association with 8 Count Productions, Seconds Out Promotions and Marines Promotions and be broadcast live worldwide on ESPN Friday Night Fights from Chicago’s UIC Pavilion.
In the night’s 10-round welterweight main event, red-hot rejuvenated contender Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia (35-3, 23 KOs) of Weslaco, Texas, will look to continue his hot streak by taking on hard-hitting and dangerous Breidis “Khanqueror” Prescott (27-5, 20 KOs) of Miami, via Barranquilla, Colombia.
In the 10-round middleweight co-feature USBA Middleweight Champion and WBA #15, IBF #13, and WBO #11-rated Caleb “Golden” Truax (23-1-2, 14 KOs) of Osseo, Minnesota, will face Sonora, Mexico’s Rogelio “Porky” Medina (32-6, 26 KOs) in a non-title fight.
Opening the telecast will be the return of wildly popular Chicago native Mike Lee (12-0, 7 KOs). Having graduated at the top of his class with a Finance degree from The University of Notre Dame, Lee, a Subway spokesperson and philanthropist, faces an opponent to be announced in a six-round light heavyweight bout.
Tickets for “Conquerors” are priced at VIP $151, VIP Ringside $101, Mezzanine $51 and General Admission $31 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com, 1-800-745-3000), the 8 Count Productions Offices: 312-622-7668 or the UIC Pavilion Box Office: 312-413-5740. More information will be available shortly at 8CountProductions.com.
Ramirez had an outstanding amateur career, he not only won the Chicago Golden Gloves last year, but was voted Best Boxer for the entire tournament. He was also a 2013 National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions finalist.
“Eddie will make an outstanding addition to our stable,” said Leon Margules. “He enjoys tremendous popularity in one of our home bases of Chicago and is a highly skilled welterweight with all the tools to become a force in the division. We’re happy he chose Warriors Boxing as his Promoter.”
The opponent for Ramirez’s six-round fight will be announced shortly.
