Venice, CA (August 1, 2014) For the fifth time in his distinguished Middleweight World Championship run, Boxing’s fastest rising star, GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN has been named the World Boxing Association’s “Fighter of the Month” for his highlight reel third round stoppage of two-time world champion DANIEL GEALE on Saturday, July 26th at Madison Square Garden, “The Mecca of Boxing”.
The stoppage of Geale was telecast LIVE in the United States on HBO World Championship Boxing® and in over 100 countries worldwide. It was Golovkin’s 11th straight WBA world title defense and his 17th straight knockout victory. With the win, Golovkin’s record stands at 30-0-0 with 27 knockouts bringing his knockout ratio to 90%, the highest of any middleweight champion in history and the highest among all active world champions in boxing.
