ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (August XX, 2014) – German mixed-martial arts rising star, Stephan Puetz (10-1-0, 4 KO/TKO, 3 SUB), hopes to duplicate his country’s success against Brazil in the recent FIFA World Cup on August 15, when he defends his M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title for the first time against Brazilian challenger Luis Fernando “Hulk” Miranda (12-1-0, 4 KO/TKO, 7 SUB) in M-1 Challenge 50’s co-feature event.

M-1 Challenge 50: Battle on Neva will be streamed live in high definition on www.M1Global.TV, outdoors from the St. Petersburg city center open area. Viewers will be able to watch the preliminary fights for free and the main card for a limited offer of only $1.00 USD by logging on to register at www.M1Global.TV. Fans may watch all of the action on their computers, as well as on Andriod and Apple smart phones and tablets. (see more details below)
Stephan Puetz (R) and Viktor Nemkov
Puetz was originally scheduled to make his first title defense in a rematch against the previous champion he defeated last March in their M-1 Challenge 46 championship fight, Viktor Nemkov, who suffered torn ligaments in his hand during training camp that, unfortunately, forced him to pull out of celebrated M-1 Challenge 50 anniversary show and be sidelined for several months.
Nemkov’s replacement is equally worthy challenger Miranda, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in addition to being the Monster Black Combat and King of Combat champion back home in Brazil.
Germany shocked Brazil, 7-1, in the semifinals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, en route to becoming the world soccer/football champion with a 1-0 triumph over Argentina in the championship final match.
Stephan Puetz
“Football and martial arts are totally different sports,” Puetz noted, “but I would love to score some goals against Miranda, too. I will try to beat Miranda with all of my skills and power in order to stay M-1 champion. This has nothing to do with nationalities, though. The World Cup semifinals was a bad crushing and something unheard of before. Let’s put it like this: I will try to be as dominant as the German National Team has been.”
M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Damian “Polish Pitbull” Grabowski (19-1-0, 6 KO/TKO, 6 SUB) takes on fellow Pole, undefeated No. 1 contender Marcin “Tybur” Tybura (10-0-0, 4 KO/TKO, 4 SUB), in the newly elevated main event.
Also scheduled to fight on main card are Slovenian featherweight Ivan “Buki” Buchinger (26-4-0, 6 KO/TKO, 16 SUB) vs. Russian veteran Mikhail Malyutin (26-12-0, 5 KO/TKO, 8 SUB), Spanish welterweight Daniel “The Gladiator” Tabera (17-5-3, 4 KO/TKO, 6 SUB) vs. unbeaten Russian prospect Ilya Doderkin (5-0-0, 5 SUB), Germany’s Saba Bolaghi (1-0-0, 1 SUB) vs. Russian lightweight Zulfikar Usmanov 6-3-0, 1 KO/TKO, 4 SUB), Polish featherweight Kamil Maron (5-1-0, 0 KO/SUB, 2 SUB) vs. Russia’s Nikita Chistyakov (1-1-0, 1 SUB), and pro-debuting middleweights Khabib Isaev, of Russia, and Dauren Ermekov, of Kazakhstan.
On the preliminary card in the RosStroilnvest Cup lightweight semifinal matches are Russian prospects Radzhi Aliev (2-2-0, 1 KO/TKO, 0 SUB) vs. Anton Telepnev (6-4-0, 1 KO/TKO), and Artem Glybchak vs. Marat Balaev making their respective professional debuts.
