Fan favorite Sammy Vasquez scored a 1st round round stoppage over former world title challenger Alberto Mosquera at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
Vasquez dropped Mosquera in the first from a right hook and the fight was stopped at 2:35.
Vasquez, 146 3/4 lbs is now 17-0 with 13 knockouts. Mosquera, 146 1/2 lbs is now 21-2-2.
In a war between Pittsburgh based Lightweights, Rod Salka scored a bloody 10-round unanimous decision over Monty Meza-Clay.
Meza-Clay started to bleed in round two and Salka started to bleed in the next round. The two waged war over the balance of the fight with Salka getting the better of the action.
Salka, 134 1/4 lbs won by scores of 98-91, 98-92 and 97-94 and is now 20-4. Meza-Clay, 134 3/4 lbs is now 36-4.
Erickson Lubin scored a 8-round unanimous decision over veteran Norberto Gonzalez in a Jr. Middleweight bout.
Gonzalez dropped Lubin early in round one with a hard right. Lubin landed a right that drove Gonzalez into the ropes which was scored a knockdown in round four. Lubin outlanded Gonzalez 167-83.
Lubin, 154 1/2 lbs of Orlando, FL won by scores of 78-73 and 78-72 twice and is now 8-0. Gonzalez, 153 1/2 lbs of Monterrey, MX is now 20-6.
