Danish cruiserweight Micki Nielsen (17-0, 12 KOs) has signed a long-term contract extension with Team Sauerland. The 21 year-old has put pen to paper following an impressive 2014.

“It is something special to be part of the biggest and most successful boxing team in Europe,” said Micki Nielsen. “I am determined to become a world champion one day and Team Sauerland is the place to be in order to reach my goals.”

Nielsen was recently named ‘Fighter of the Year’ by the Danish Professional Boxing Federation (DPBF) following a stellar 2014, which included a superb performance against a former world title challenger, Gusmyr Perdomo.

“I’ve been really happy with my development the last year. I’ve worked hard with my coach Joey Gamache to ensure I’ll have a great boxing future,” said the current WBC International Champion.

“Micki Nielsen is the most exciting youngster in Danish boxing,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “He is already one of the most feared cruiserweights in Europe and we’re delighted to be continuing to work with him. The sky really is the limit and we’re expecting great things from Micki in the future!”

Micki Nielsen is back in action on June 20 as part of Team Sauerland’s Nordic Fight Night show at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen. The show titled ‘Danish Dynamite’ features the country’s top talent including Micki’s older brother Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) who will be making a first defence of his WBA International Super Middleweight title against Charles Adamu (23-6-0, 17 KOs), and rising featherweight star Dennis Ceylan (14-0-1, 7 KOs) who faces Sergio Prado (10-4-1, 4 KOs).
