Javier Mendoza retained the IBF Lightweight crown with a technical decision over Milan Melindo after Mendozacould not continue due to a cut in the 6th round at Campo Nuevo Ensenada in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Melindo cut over right eye in head clash in 6th but bout stopped due to cut over Mendoza’s left eye suffered in clash of heads, also in 6th. Melindo deducted a point for a low blow in 4th and 5th rounds.
Mendoza won by scores of 60-52 twice and 59-53 and is now 24-2-1. Melindo is 32-2.
