Manuel Rey ”The Punisher” Rojas secured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Latino Lightweight title on Saturday night (August 8) when he defeated tough contender Chris Singleton at the Waco Convention Center in Waco, Texas.
On a show labeled “CKO 7 Brawl on The Brazos” promoted by Jesse Rodriguez Promotions in association with Cavalry Knockout, Rojas scored his careers biggest victory to date, as he boxed well on his way to a unanimous decision.
31-year old Singleton, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, came to fight and had his moments of success, but Rojas used his speed and reflexes well to win most of the rounds.
With the victory Rojas picked up his first title in the professional ranks and improved his record to 12-2 (4 KOs). Singleton, also fighting for his first championship, falls to 15-3 (7 KOs).
