LOS ANGELES (December 2, 2015) – LA FIGHT CLUB will close out 2015 at the Belasco Theater with the headlining debut of fan favorite and undefeated power-puncher, Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez (11-0, 10 KOs) in an exciting eight-round super featherweight fight against the tough Alejandro Ochoa (7-10-2, 1 KOs) of Bell Gardens, Calif., live on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV.
The night will continue to showcase some of Los Angeles based favorite fighters as, Oscar “El Jaguar” Negrete (11-0, 4 KOs) will take on Odilon “Olimpico” Zaleta (15-5, 8 KOs) of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico in an eight-round super bantamweight fight in the televised co-main event and opening the broadcast, Ivan “Striker” Delgado (7-0-1, 2 KOs) of Los Angeles will take on Luis “Lichito” Lizarraga Jr. (5-6-1, 2 KOs) of Meridad,Yucatan, Mexico in a six-round lightweight bout.
Featured as part of the Ring TV’s live stream will be popular fighter Nick Arce (5-0, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles in a six-round super featherweight bout against Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico’s Ali Gonzalez (6-6-1, 1 KOs). Rising star, Emilio Sanchez (10-0, 7 KOs) also of Los Angeles, will face Juan “Juanito” Hernandez (4-1, 1 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico in a six-round super bantamweight fight and San Antonio’s Joshua Franco (2-0, 1 KO) will participate in a six-round super flyweight match against Tijuana’s Leonardo Reyes (3-8-1, 1 KOs).
LA FIGHT CLUB: Gonzalez vs. Ochoa is an eight-round super featherweight bout presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona Extra. A 20-year-old phenom who has ended ten of his eleven wins by knockout, Buena Park’s Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez won his first seven bouts in, Mexico by first-round knockout. Since then, he has gone 4-0 with three KOs, defeating Misael Chacon and the tough Julio Sariana who sent him into the mat for the first time in his professional career. Most recently, Gonzalez was last seen decisioning over Darryl Hayes and stopping Luis Ruiz Lizarraga Jr. in two rounds in September. Now, Gonzalez is ready to please his fans in his fourth and first headlining appearance at LA FIGHT CLUB in Los Angeles.
A resilient fighter from Bell Gardens, Calif., Alejandro Ochoa, is riding a winning streak wave since earlier this year. Most recently the fighter went the distance against Luis Sedano and rising prospect Kevin “K-Smoove” Rivers Jr to wing both fights via decision. A professional since 2007 the 26-year is an experienced fighter with more than 83 total professional rounds under his belt and a reputation for his aggressive style that will give any fighter a tough time. Now, with two victories this year, Ochoa is ready to add another when he faces Gonzalez on Dec. 4.
Now making his home in Los Angeles, 27-year-old Colombia native Oscar Negrete was a stellar amateur before turning professional on May 24, 2013 with a four-round decision victory over Cristian Ciciliano. Two more wins would follow in 2013 for Negrete, but it was in 2014 that he began to get noticed in his adopted home state of California, as he stepped up to the plate four times and hit it out of the park with each appearance, decisioning unbeaten Carlos Medina and stopping Pablo Cupul, Gabriel Braxton and Salvador Perez. Negrete will return to the ring on February 27 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
A professional since 2009, Odilon “Olimpico” Zaleta is a former world title contender who was last seen in the ring in 2014 against Moruti Mthalane fighting for the International Boxing Organization World Flyweight title and Akira Yaegashi fighting for the for the WBC World Flyweight title. Although, Zaleta came short of victory in both opportunities, he is ready to jump in the ring in his first fight of 2015 and get back in the title game. He is hungry for a victory in his U.S. professional debut when he faces the dangerous Negrete on Dec. 4.
Unbeaten in eight pro bouts, local favorite Ivan “Striker” Delgado will open up the TV portion of the card in a six-round super featherweight matchup. The 25-year-old has had a big year in 2015, winning four bouts, including three LA FIGHT CLUB victories, most recently over Thomas Herrera in September. Delgado has stayed local, building up his name and reputation on the Southern California boxing circuit, including a win by unanimous decision against Angel Albelo at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on July 11.
22-year-old, Luis Lizarraga Jr., will make his second appearance at LA FIGHT CLUB on Dec. 4 and this time he will be looking for victory. The young professional fighter was most recently seen in the ring against Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez, in September and has faced top opposition in the ring going up against Diego De La Hoya, Kevin “K-Smoove” Rivers Jr. and Christopher Diaz. Now, Lizarraga Jr. will be looking for a victory when he goes up against Ivan Delgado in the last installment of the series this year.
Growing his fan base with each successive victory, LA’s Nick Arce has yet to let an opponent hear the final bell, with four of those wins coming in 2015. The 19-year-old most recently defeated Juan Hernandez at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on October 3 with an impressive fourth round knockout. The former amateur standout hopes to keep his streak going this December competing in a six-round super featherweight bout to end his year at the Belasco.
Fighting out of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Ali Gonzalez has remained active in 2015 with four fights under his belt. Having faced tough opposition against Luis Sedano, Roy “Pit Bull” Tapia, Joet Gonzales and Edgar Daniel Ahumada, Gonzalez will be looking to end the year with a victory. He will be taking on Los Angeles favorite Nick Arce in the last installment of LA FIGHT CLUB this year and will be looking to impress with a great victory.
Los Angeles super bantamweight Emilio Sanchez will step into his December 4 bout as the co-main event attraction, and it’s a responsibility the 21-year-old takes seriously. Making his professional debut in 2013, the undefeated Sanchez can do it all in the ring. Sanchez won his first three bouts in 2013 via first-round knockouts and has continued to impress through 2015. Given that his last four victories have taken place in the Belasco Theater, he will be right at home no matter who stands across the ring from him on fight night.
New fighter, Juan “Juanito” Hernandez has had a busy year making his professional debut May, 2015. With great victories under his belt against Jose Caravantes, Manuel Sandoval, Victor Martinez and Cruz Saucedo, the young fighter will be looking to continue the trend when he faces Emilio Sanchez on Dec. 4.
Hailing from San Antonio, Joshua Franco made his professional debut as a new Golden Boy fighter on the August 6 edition of the hit monthly series LA FIGHT CLUB defeating Temoatzin Landeros via split decision, and quickly followed up with a victory over Saul Hernandez at the October installment. In a six-round super flyweight bout, San Antonio’s Franco returns to the Belasco, looking to build on the two LA FIGHT CLUB bouts he has won since entering the pro ranks in 2015 after an impressive amateur career.
Also hailing from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Leonardo Reyes is an up-and-coming fighter looking for another victory in 2015. In his sixth fight of the year, Reyes is a riding a winning streak with great victories over Johnathan Quiroz, Felipe Reyes and Carlos Lopez. He will be looking to continue the streak when he faces Joshua Franco on Dec. 4.
LA FIGHT CLUB is a monthly boxing series that showcases the brightest stars in the sport and present these exciting matchups in a nightclub atmosphere with an original setup. The boxing ring is set on the main floor of the Belasco Theater with on-camera standing room for fans in front of the ring similar to a concert pit, as well as reserved balcony and floor seats. Los Angeles’ own DJ Ray of Big Boy’s Neighborhood spins music during the fights and fans are able to dance and mingle with the fighters when the venue converts into a night club, in a VIP experience not matched by any promoter in the industry.
