Robbie Lawler retained the UFC Welterweight title with a 5-round split decision over Carlos Condit in a war at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Condit controlled most of the fight by mixing up his kicks and punches that kept Lawler at the end of his strikes. Lawler dropped Condit in round two from an inside right hand. Condit was able to sustain his activity level in round four. In round five, the two stood toe to toe and landed bombs on each other, with Condit mixing in a kick. Lawler was able to rock Condit in the last two minutes of the fight as he opened up a cut over Condit’s right eye.
Lawler won on two cards by scores of 48-47 while Condit took a card 48-47.
Lawler is now 27-10. Condit falls to 30-9.
Stipe Miocic punched his ticket to a potential heavyweight title shot by destroying former champion Andrei Arlovski at 54 seconds of the 1st round.
Miocic landed a right that staggered Arlovski and a follow up right crumpled the former champ to the canvas. Miocic jumped on his prey and landed several more shots before the fight was stopped.
Miocic is 14-2. Arlovski is 25-11-1.
Albert Tumenov won a 3 round split decision over Lorenz Larkin in welterweight bout.
Tumenov won two cards by 29-28 tallies. Larkin took a card 29-28.
Tumenov is 17-2. Larkin is 16-5-1.
Brian Ortega choked out Diego Brandao at 1:37 of round three in their featherweight bout.
Ortega is 10-0-1. Beandao is 20-11.
Abel Trujillo scored a 1st round chokeout over Tony Sims in a lightweight bout.
The time of the Guillotine choke was 2:37 of round one for Trujillo who is now 13-7-1. Sims is 12-4
Alex Morano won a 3-round split decision over Kyle Noke in a Welterweight bout.
Scores were 29-28 twice for Morano and 30-27 for Noke.
Michael Macdonald choked out Mansanori Kanehana in the 2nd round of their Featherweight bout.
Macdonald is 17-3. Kanehana is 25-13-5
Morano, 170 lbs of Houston, TX is 12-3. Noke, 170.5 lbs is 22-8-1.
Justine Kish remained undefeated with a 3-round unanimous decision over Nina Ansaroff in a Strawweight bout.
Scores were 30-27 and 29-28 twice for Kish, 116 lbs of Los Angeles, CA and is now 5-0. Asnsaroff, 116 lbs of Miami is now 6-5.
Drew Dpber won a 3-round unanimous decision over Scott Hotzman in a Lightweight fight.
In round two, Holtzman began to bleed over his left eye from an elbow.
Dober, 155.5 lbs of Denver, CO won by scores of 29-28 on all cards and is now 16-7-1. Holtzman, 155.5 lbs of Knoxville, TN is 8-1.
