Hyannis, Massachusetts [June 28, 2016] – The first fight announcement of the forthcoming Boston Boxing Promotions Show August 6th at The Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC) will be an eight-round super middleweight fight between Harwich’s Paul Gonsalves (9-8-1, 4 KOs) and Sonora, Mexico’s Roberto “El Viejo” Valenzuela (69-72-2, 56 KOs).

“Happy to be back on the Cape for another show,” stated Gonsalves. “Looking to get back on the winning track after losing to the number-two-ranked guy in the country in March. I want to put on a good show for the home crowd and show my boxing skills. Also looking forward to other action packed fights. That night include my boy Jesse Barboza and Vinnie Carita who both always bring it.”

Just last year, Gonsalves went 2-0 on Boston Boxing Promotions shows in his home region of Cape Cod including a first- round TKO of Rafael Valenzuela last August. Rafael is Roberto Valenzuela’s younger brother.

Roberto Valenzuela is a former Mexican Pacific Coast Champion and a battle-tested veteran who has fought the best boxing has to offer including former world champion Jose Luis Castillo on 3 different occasions, Andre Berto, former Irish national amateur champion Michael Mclaughlin, and most recently, New England prospects Brandon Berry and Russell Lamour. Valenzuela represents Gonsalves most experienced opponent to date with over 140 fights in his professional career.

“I look forward to coming to Cape Cod,” said Valenzuela through the assistance of a translator. “I hear it is a beautiful place with great people from mi amigo Jose Humberto Corral y mi hermano Rafael who both fought there last year. Unfortunately for them, Paul Gonsalves was too much to handle. That will not be the case this time. I look at his record and see that he is not afraid to fight anyone, and I’m not afraid of a fight either. Bring it on, Paul. When I’m through with you, you will never, ever forget the name… of ‘El Viejo!'”

Tickets are on sale now at www.CapeCodBoxing.com. A very limited number of ringside seats are available for $60 each, while general admission costs $40.
