COLUMBUS, OH (March 2, 2018) — Fast-rising heavyweight prospect JERMAINE FRANKLIN (15-0, 12 KOs), who hails from Saginaw, MI, will make his 2018 debut taking on Ed Fountain (12-3, 5 KOs), from St. Louis, MO, in a 10-round heavyweight bout Tomorrow, Saturday March 3, at the Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio. Franklin, 24, who won the 2014 Golden Gloves National Championship in the super heavyweight division, won all six of his fights in 2017, with four of them coming by way of knockout. In his most recent fight, on December 15, he blasted out Corey Phelps in the first round. Fountain, 29, enters this fight having won two of his last three bouts. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the first scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Promoter Troy Speakman has put together a seven-bout card, including two ten-round title fights. Brian Holstein (13-7-1, 7 KOs), from Columbus, colliding with Nick Kisner (19-4-1, 6 KOs), from Baltimore, for the vacant NABA cruiserweight title and Jamie Walker (8-0-1, 3 KOs), from Columbus, rumbling with Skender Halili (15-2-0, 13 KOs), from Bronx, NY, for the vacant NABA super welterweight title.
“This is one of the better shows I put together for the classic.” said Speakman, who also noted that the show sold out in advance.
