Alejandro Paulino Suffers Training Injury;Title Defense Against James Bernadin Off
MASHANTUCKET, CT – Alejandro “El Abusador” Paulino (19-0, 14 KOs) suffered a training injury and will not be defending his WBC USA Silver Lightweight title at ‘Winter Brawl 2025‘ on February 22 at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The 26-year-old New Londoner, who fought 4 times in 2024, is laser-focused on his goal of capturing a world title in 2025. CES Boxing wishes Alejandro a speedy recovery as he resumes his takeover of the lightweight division later this year.
‘Winter Brawl 2025’ promises to be an electric night of boxing featuring a championship fight and many of the best contenders and prospects in the Northeast United States and beyond.
New England bragging rights are at stake as Boston’s Francis “Frank the Tank” Hogan (18-0, 16 KOs) defends his WBC US Silver Middleweight title against Worcester’s Khiary “King TooSharp” Gray (19-7, 14 KOs).
Hogan is a dynamic personality looking to also shine in the ring. The 26-year-old dispatched former world title challenger Elvin Ayala in 2 rounds last October. He’ll have his hands full against Gray, a 26-fight veteran who is coming off a 6th round knockout of Daniel Sostre in November.
The stacked card also features New Haven’s Jeffrey Torres (13-2, 7 KOs) against 20-fight veteran Matt “The Mantis” Doherty of Danvers, MA.
Torres, a 27-year-old Puerto Rican native, is on a 3-fight winning streak since losing a close decision to Antonio Moran in 2022. The Puerto Rican native will need to leverage all of the weapons in his arsenal to topple the battle-tested Doherty, who is coming off a win last October.
Several outstanding bouts also include unbeaten Kazakh prospect Nikolay Shvab (12-0, 7 KOs) against Providence veteran Toka Kahn (29-4, 19 KOs) in an 8-round super featherweight bout and the highly anticipated return of Dominican native Victor Reynoso (9-0, 6 KOs) who puts his perfect record on the line against Springfield, MA’s Jalen Renaud (10-1, 3 KOs) in a 6-round welterweight contest.
Springfield’s Anthony “ATV” Velasquez (15-0-1, 13 KOs) seeks to remain unbeaten when he collides with Argentine veteran Brian Chaves (14-6, 5 KOs) in an 8-round super welterweight scrap, while blue-chip featherweight prospect Iman Lee (11-0, 7 KOs), of Yonkers, NY, returns in an 8-round featherweight battle.
Rounding out the card are undefeated fan favorites including Stamford, CT Light Heavyweight puncher Slawomir Bohdziewicz (5-0, 4 KOs), popular Marshfield, MA welterweight Joe Bush (5-0, 4 KOs), unbeaten Stamford, CT middleweight Douglas Marroquin (4-0, 4 KOs), a battle of undefeated prospects between East Providence, RI’s Elijah Peixoto (4-0, 2 KOs) and New Haven, CT’s Anuel Rosa (5-0, 3 KOs), the always thrilling Norton, MA featherweight Melanie Costa (3-0, 1 KO), talented Providence, RI super welterweight Lamont Powell (6-0, 2 KOs) and exciting Dorchester, MA lightweight Tevin Regis (5-0, 4 KOs).
