Doncaster, England – Almost 6,000 tickets have now been sold for the boxing blockbuster event being staged by GBM Sports at the EcoPower Stadium on Friday, May 23rd, with 2,500 of those being snapped up in a Sunday pre-sale which sold out within hours of opening.
Fans who registered for the pre-sale were given a 24 hour exclusive window for first access to tickets before general sale opened on Monday. By the time the dust settled on Sunday, every ticket GBM had allocated for distribution ahead of the general sale was gone.
“We’ve been blown away by the demand for tickets. Ever since we did the launch press conference at the Eco-Power Stadium last week my phone hasn’t stopped ringing with people asking for tickets. But the speed of the pre-sale sellout still blew me away,” said Izzy Asif, GBM founder and CEO.
“Obviously the demand from the local area has been huge but it’s gone well beyond that – the list is full of buyers from all the biggest cities in England and Scotland. We’re at just over 5,800 sold now. Based on what I’m seeing, this is going to be one of the best atmospheres you’ll have experienced at a British boxing event.”
Doncaster’s own Terri Harper headlines the May 23rd event in a defence of her WBO World Lightweight Championship against undefeated German challenger Natalie Zimmerman. Her belt is one of an astonishing ten titles which will be contested at the event, with three on the line between Tysie Gallagher (British, Commonwealth and European) and Ebonie Jones alone.
Among the proud Yorkshiremen on the card are Maxi Hughes, who faces the excellent Archie Sharp for the WBA Intercontinental Lightweight Championship, Reece Mould, Lewis Sylvester and Jimmy Joe Flint.
The undercard is also expected to feature the popular Sheffield prospect Ed ‘The Farm Boy’ Hardy and the crowd-pleasing power-puncher Taz Nadeem, who swapped the mountains of Afghanistan for the hills of Sheffield some years ago and is now a firm favourite with GBM fans.
All ticketing for the May 23rd event is taking place through the official ticketing section of the Doncaster Rovers website (https://tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk/en-GB/categories/events) – general sale is now underway, with tickets priced at £50, £70, £100 and £150 plus special hospitality tickets at £175 and £200.
