RED OWL BOXING’S BOXFEST SERIES RETURNS FRIDAY, APRIL 4 ON DAZN

March 17, 2025 – Red Owl Boxing’s BOXFEST series, the premier destination for boxing’s up-and-coming fighters, returns with its first edition of 2025 on Friday, April 4 at 9pm ET/8pm CT when the stacked event streams live on DAZN globally in more than 200 territories and regions from the state-of-the-art “Owl’s Nest” in Houston.

BOXFEST XIV will be headlined by an eight-round super bantamweight fight between Japhethlee Llamido (12-1, 4 KOs) and Carlos Jackson (20-2, 13 KOs). Llamido, 25, will make his 2025 debut following an impressive win over Ryan Lee Allen in July 2024. The southpaw fighting out of Southern California has only dropped one professional fight, which came in 2023 against former IBF World Champion TJ Doheny when the two fought for the WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight title in Japan. Jackson, 35, fighting out of Atlanta, is looking to rebound from a loss in October. His last win came at the Owl’s Nest in April 2024 when Jackson scored an emphatic TKO victory over Alexis Bastar.

In the co-main event, undefeated Deonte Brown (15-0, 11 KOs) will face Leonardo Padilla (24-7-1, 17 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight bout. Brown, who fights out of Marietta, Georgia, is riding a five-fight knockout streak heading into his first fight in Houston. In his most recent outing in 2022, Brown stopped then-undefeated Jesus Saracho via ninth-round TKO, and now returns to the ring following a three-year layoff. Hailing from Venezuela, Padilla will look to get back on track following a six-round decision loss in February against Kaipo Gallegos on the undercard of the David Benavidez vs. David Morrell event in Las Vegas.

On the undercard, Francisco Javier Martinez (7-1, 4 KOs) out of Dallas will face Wayne Lawrence (7-1, 4 KOs) in a six-round battle at 130 pounds. Both fighters are coming off the first loss of their professional careers and looking to get back on track in Houston. In a four-round super bantamweight fight, Kenario Davidson (1-0), who turned pro in September 2024, will return to action to face Martel Washpun (2-0) who won his second career fight at the Owl’s Nest in the most recent edition of BOXFEST in December.

Opening the night of action on DAZN, highly ranked undefeated super featherweight Gabriela Tellez (4-0) will face Lindsey Ellis (2-2, 2 KOs) in a four-round bout.

Red Owl Boxing owns and operates the state-of-the-art sports performance facility which features seating for more than 1,500 with a modern flare that includes VIP experiences and unique ringside seating. The “Owl’s Nest” is a full-service hospitality venue with high-end sound, lighting and screens for a premier in-arena experience. The venue is outfitted with cutting-edge production for seamless streaming and television presentations.

Now in its third calendar year, the BOXFEST series has become a breeding ground for young fighters to remain active and face challenges as they climb the rankings, while also providing opportunities to fighters seeking retribution and reinvigorating their professional careers. The BOXFEST series features evenly matched fights and has highlighted standout talents such as Giovanni Marquez, Jalil Hackett, Breyon Gorham and more.
