Huntington, NY (March 24, 2025) – Rockin’ Fights 50 delivered on every level Saturday night at The Paramount in Huntington, NY, bringing together the stars of yesterday and the next generation of warriors for a milestone night of boxing. Presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, the thrilling card was a celebration of legacy, grit, and all-out action.
Fans were treated to a fight-night atmosphere like no other, with Rockin’ Fights standouts in the building who were honored for their contributions to boxing at the Paramount, and many more who helped make Rockin’ Fights at the Paramount a boxing institution. The National Anthem was powerfully performed by another Rockin’ Fights alumni, America’s Tenor, The Presidential Tenor, Christopher Macchio, setting the tone for a night that would be one to remember.
Fight Results:
Micky Scala (12-0, 6 KOs) vs.
Mario Zabojnik (12-2, 6 KOs)
In one of the night’s most technical and gritty battles, Scala earned a hard-fought decision over a determined Zabojnik. Both fighters were willing to stand in the pocket and bang, trading heavy shots with zero backdown.Scala didn’t just show talent. He showed heart, grit, and that he’s got that ‘Rocky’ in him.
David “King” Malul (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Shaquille Rushing (0-2)
Malul showed a more measured and mature approach in his third outing, working the body early and often. Rushing proved a resilient challenge, surviving the onslaught and snapping Malul’s KO streak – but not his momentum.
Malul secured the unanimous decision, improving to 3-0, and continues to build his resume as a crowd favorite in the welterweight division.
Issah Flaherty (8-0, 4 KOs) vs.
?Jakob Turac (3-3, 3 KOs)
Flaherty wasn’t here to play around. All business from the opening bell, he walked through Turac and scored a devastating KO, reminding everyone why he’s a local favorite. Tough, focused, and composed, Flaherty proved he’s a force to be
reckoned with in 2025.
Jordy Suarez Gonzalez (2-0, 1 KO) vs.
“G.I.” Joe Elzey (3-1, 1 KO)
In a full-throttle, phone-booth war, Jordy and Joseph went toe-to-toe from the opening bell. It was Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots in real life—non-stop action, clean shots, and heart from both sides. After four rounds of back-and-forth madness, the judges gave the edge to Jordy Suarez Gonzalez by decision, handing Elzey his first pro loss. We might need to see this one again.
Yan Carlos “Baka” Perez (5-0, 3 KOs) vs. Yeuri “Dinamita” Andujar (7-7-1, 4 KOs)
Perez kicked off the night with fireworks. It was a trilling back and forth first round until the perfect right hand. Known as “Baka,” the Dominican featherweight unleashed a flawless right hand at the end of Round 1 that dropped Andujar, and set the tone for the evening. Perez’s speed, power, and presence earned him the win, and sent a clear message: he’s a serious prospect on the rise.
Regrettably, the Junior Younan versus Abel Mina fight was canceled last-minute. Mina was brought in from Ecuador earlier in the week. He refused to leave his hotel room, come down to the weigh-in, and said he decided he does not want to fight Junior.
We were and are still shocked and appalled at his actions, and hope to have an announcement for Junior Younan’s next fight soon. Junior Younan was still in attendance Saturday night, as a guest commentator for
?the StarBoxing.TV broadcast, and mingled with many of the fans in attendance.
What a way to celebrate 50 events. From the legends who paved the way to the young guns putting on wars in the ring—Rockin’ Fights 50 had it all. This is what boxing’s all about, and we’re proud to keep that tradition alive at The Paramount NY.
With the 50th show now in the history books, Rockin’ Fights 50 proved once again why
Star Boxing is the longest-running promoter in New York — and the best is still to come.
