London, England – April 3, 2025 – Anthony Joshua, Zhilhei Zhang and Dillian Whyte are all in Hughie Fury’s sights this year – but he has some family business to settle first.
On Friday night he faces Dan Garber on the main card of GBM Boxing’s event at London’s York Hall, airing live and exclusively worldwide on DAZN.
Garber is the son of Steven Garber, who in 1995 knocked John Fury out – Hughie’s uncle – and thereby ended his career. At this week’s pre-fight press conference, Garber said he looks forward to putting his family name 2-0 over the Fury family.
“He can say what he wants. On fight night we will be in there under the lights and all the talking will be over. The training has been hard, the training is done and now it’s time to perform. I don’t see him getting the win but best of luck to him,” said Hughie Fury.
“I’ve said I want big fights this year and I want my name in the top heavyweight contender picture. Anthony Joshua is a target, I might end his career for him. Zhilei Zhang would be interesting, so would Hrgovic. I know as well my promoter Izzy Asif is looking at Dillian Whyte for me in Galway this summer. Big names and big fights is what I want this year.”
In the main event, Manchester’s Brad Rea steps up on three days’ notice to challenge for the European light-heavyweight championship after Shakan Pitters suffered an injury which removed him from the title tilt against reigning champion Daniel Dos Santos of France.
“I stay ready for exactly these kind of opportunities. People are avoiding me like crazy. Once I win this belt, I can’t be avoided, people have to fight me. That’s what I am excited about as much as anything,” said Rea.
Two other title fights on the card see undefeated lightweights Ben Crocker and Tiernan Bradley contest Crocker’s IBF European Super-Lightweight Championship and Emma Dolan defend her British and Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Championships against Lauren Parker.
The main card airs live and exclusively from 7pm on DAZN.
