HUGE HOMECOMING FOR KIERAN MOLLOY: HE HEADLINES GALWAY’S PEARSE STADIUM AGAINST FORMER BRITISH TITLE CHALLENGER KAISEE BENJAMIN ON SATURDAY JUNE 28TH

Galway, Ireland (May 12th, 2025) – A hero’s homecoming awaits Galway’s Kieran Molloy (11-0, 6 KOs) as he headlines GBM: GALWAY GLORY – MOLLOY vs BENJAMIN at Pearse GAA Stadium on Saturday, June 28th in a clash with former British title challenger Kaisee Benjamin (18-4-1, 6 KOs).

Presented by GBM Sports and broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN, the card also features a European Light-Heavyweight Championship clash between Shakan Pitters (20-2, 7 KOs) and Brad Rea (20-1, 10 KOs), alongside Westmeath’s 2016 Olympian Joe Ward (12-1, 8 KO’s) in a high-stakes bout against former IBO world champion Lerrone Richards (18-1, 4 KOs).

Last month, Molloy secured the sixth stoppage win of his career with a clinical fifth-round finish at London’s York Hall. Now, he returns home to face Birmingham’s Benjamin, who narrowly lost a decision for the IBF European Welterweight title in his last fight and is known for his technical skills and ring intelligence.

“If you’re a young lad growing up in Galway, Pearse Stadium is the home of your heroes. One of my favourite daydreams as a youngster starting out in boxing was one day walking out into a packed Pearse Stadium and hearing Galway roar. On Saturday June 28th I get to live that dream for real and I can’t wait,” said Molloy.

“Galway people really get behind their own – whether it’s hurling, football or boxing – and I am so grateful for all the support I get. I am looking forward to going out there and putting on a great show for everyone and making a big statement about my intentions to bring major world titles to Galway.”

GBM promoter Izzy Asif, a former footballer and professional boxer from Sheffield, is Molloy’s biggest backer.

“Kieran Molloy has got all the makings of a megastar – much like Barry McGuigan back in the day, he appeals to everyone from fight fans to little old ladies. He’s an incredible mixture of cold technical ability and ferocious killer instinct, but he’s also the nicest young man you could meet. He’s a great ambassador for his sport and his county,” said Asif.

“We’re proud and excited at GBM to be giving this future world champion a homecoming like this. He’s got a tough test against the very experienced Kaisee Benjamin. It’s going to be a hell of a fight and an electric atmosphere inside the famous Pearse Stadium on Saturday, June 28th.”

Molloy, who hails from Oughterard, County Galway, joined his local boxing club at age five and quickly stood out as a natural talent. His amateur career included 200 wins in 221 bouts, 11 Irish national titles, and three Irish Elite Championships before turning professional.

The Galway event follows GBM’s stadium show at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium on May 23rd, where Terri Harper defends her WBO World Lightweight title – previously held by Ireland’s Katie Taylor – against unbeaten German contender Natalie Zimmerman.

Tickets for the June 28th Galway event go on sale this week, with pricing and availability to be confirmed in the coming days.
