BARNSLEY, UK (June 4, 2025) – Adam Azim, one of the most electrifying young fighters in world boxing, will join the huge European fight night event, One Of Our Own, at Oakwell Stadium in Barnsley this Saturday, June 7. The event is presented by BOXXER and will be broadcast live and exclusively on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland.
Leeds Light Heavyweight Mick Learmonth has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout on medical grounds giving Azim the opportunity to stay sharp and active ahead of a major fight next.
The unbeaten Super Lightweight star will take on Mexico’s Eliot Chavez, who returns to the UK following a 2022 clash with Harlem Eubank, which ended in a ninth-round disqualification.
Chavez also boasts an impressive first-round knockout victory over former WBA World Champion Mauricio Lara, who is well known to Yorkshire fans for his two bouts against local favourite Josh Warrington.
The addition of IBO Super-Lightweight champion Azim adds even more firepower to a massive night of boxing headlined by local hero Callum Simpson in the biggest fight of his career – a European title clash with Italy’s undefeated Ivan Zucco.
Fan-favourite Azim, 22, returns the favour to Simpson, who joined Azim’s own headline event in Wembley earlier this year. Now it’s Azim’s turn to get in a competitive bout as he prepares to continue his world title charge.
Adam Azim said: “I’m already training hard for a big fight, so when the opportunity came up to get on this card, I jumped at it. I discussed it with my team and Ben Shalom, and we felt it was the right time to get in some solid competitive rounds against a tough opponent.
“I’m also excited to go up there to fight in front of a capacity-crowd stadium in Barnsley. Callum’s told me all about the incredible noise from the stands and I plan to put on a show for them. It’s going to be a huge night in front of a packed crowd at Oakwell and I can’t wait to be part of it .
“There’s a big British Asian community in South Yorkshire too, and I hope they take the chance to grab the remaining tickets and get behind me. Let’s make it a night to remember.”
