SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – (October 22, 2025) — The final faceoff is done, the scales are cleared, and tensions are running high as Joshua “Double J” Pagan (13-0, 4KO’s) and Maliek “Mahem” Montgomery (20-1, 18KO’s) made weight ahead of their highly anticipated showdown Thursday night in San Juan at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente (DAZN, 8p ET/5p PT). Both fighters came in locked, focused, and ready to deliver fireworks in what oddsmakers are calling one of the most evenly matched fights of the year.

Pagan stepped off the scale looking confident, maintaining the calm intensity. When asked about what he saw in his opponent’s eyes during the face-off, “I see the determination in his eyes, and I know he’s coming to fight,” said Pagan.

“I’m prepared for the best version of Montgomery, this is going to be a show.” Pagan’s camp has emphasized control and composure all week, with the Grand Rapids native fine-tuning his timing for what promises to be a tactical battle fought at a blistering pace.

Montgomery matched that energy and made it clear he’s ready for war. “When I look in his eyes, I see fear. Fear of the unknown,” said Montgomery.

“He’s never shared the ring with me, but he knows who I am. Tomorrow night, he’s going to find out exactly why.” The Macon, Georgia native looked strong on the scale and confident at the podium, vowing to push the pace early and test Pagan’s composure under pressure.

Puerto Rican legend Juan Manuel López, who was in attendance for the weigh-in, praised the new generation of fighters and offered his own fight-week insight.

“I’m excited about these new kids coming up; I see a lot of future champions in this group,” said López. “My advice is simple—stay focused, work hard, and keep the right people around you. My prediction? Ashleyann by knockout. And Pagan’s going to have a real fight on his hands. It’s going to be a show.”

Fan Duel sports book have the fight listed even at -116, underscoring just how tightly matched this main event truly is. With both fighters on weight, tensions high, and pride on the line, all signs point to an explosive night of boxing in Puerto Rico.
