In less than 24 hours, WBA super-welterweight world champion Mary Spencer (10-2, 6 KOs) will defend her title against pound-for-pound great Mikaela Mayer (21-2, 5 KOs). With the vacant WBC and WBO world titles also on the line, three of the four major belts will be contested — a first in the history of women’s boxing in Quebec!
“Mikaela Mayer has a fan-friendly style… so I can’t wait to hit her,” said Canadian olympian Mary Spencer during the event’s final press conference.
“There are lots of big fights ahead of me, but the number one goal right now is to put on a great performance, show everyone that even though I’m the smaller fighter, skills pay the bills. Size doesn’t win fights, skill does,” added U.S. olympian Mikaela Mayer.
For the co-main event, young sensation Wilkens Mathieu (14-0, 10 KOs) will look to take his career to the next level in a local showdown – with two titles at stake – against Quebec veteran Shakeel Phinn (27-3-2, 17 KOs).
“I won’t let the judges rob me of the victory — I’m here to seek and destroy,” vowed Brossard’s own Shakeel Phinn.
“I don’t think Shakeel realizes who I am. I’m young, not that experienced… but I’m way more talented than him and better in every way. He’ll find out on Thursday,” responded 20-year-old Wilkens Mathieu.

EIGHT TITLES ON THE LINE
On the undercard, former world champion Sergey Lipinets (18-4-1, 13 KOs) will arrive in Montreal looking to snatch the NABF super-lightweight title from Canadian Olympian Arthur Biyarslanov (19-0, 16 KOs).
Light-heavyweight and welterweight contenders Mehmet Unal (13-0, 11 KOs) and Christopher Guerrero (15-0, 9 KOs) will also defend their respective WBC Continental Americas titles, while EOTTM prospects Thomas Chabot (11-0, 8 KOs) and Erik Israyelyan (2-0, 2 KOs) will open the show in the two first bouts of the evening.
