
Former world champion Tim Tszyu won a 10-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Denis Nurja in a junior middleweight bout in Australia.
n round three, Tszyu was cut under his left eye from an accidental headbutt. In round four, Tszyu landed an inside left to the top of the head that put Nurja on the canvas.
In round seven, Nurja was deducted a point for holding.
Tszyu landed 236 of 573 punches; Nurja was 94 of 380.
Tszyu, 156.9 lbs of Australia won by scores of 100-88 on all cards and is now 27-3. Nurja, 156.5 lbs of Albania is 20-1.
“He’s tough and I expected that,” said Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs). “He came in with the perfect record, so I knew he was no joke. I had him a couple times but he didn’t drop. Those were some good rounds. I was trying to take him out, he’s just tough. Big respect.”
“I feel like I’m up for Errol Spence Jr,” said Tszyu. “I think that would be one hell of a fight. That’s a banger. I don’t take a backward step. If he’s ready to meet me there, bring it on. I’m coming to catch the big fish. Let’s go fishing.
Tszyu will now look for a big fight with Errol Spence Jr. later this Summer.
Goodman Decisions Ruiz
Sam Goodman won a 12-round unanimous decision over Rodrigo Ruiz in a super bantamweight bout.
Goodman, 121.4 lbs of Albion, AUS won by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113 and is now 22-1. Ruiz, 121.4 lbs of Argentina is 23-2.
Solomana Stops Wallace in 3
Nelson Asofa Solomana stopped Jarrod Wallace in round three of a four-round heavyweight bout.
In round one, Solomona was cut high on the fore head from a clash of heads. In round three, Solomona landed a big uppercut that Wallace down. Wallace began to fade and another flurry that was completed by another uppercut put Wallace down and out at 1:03.
Soloman, 296.4 lbs of Melbourne, AUS is 2-0 with two knockouts. Wallace, 263.6 lbs of Queensland is 0-1.
Peters Stops Mouzhino in 2
Callum Peters stopped Delio Anzaleci Mouzhino in two riock-em-sock-em rounds in a scheduled eight-round middleweight bout.
In round one, Peter hurt Mouzhino with a left hook to the jaw and a right to the head that had Mouzhino stumbling across the ring and one more right to the head put Mouzhino down. In round two, Peter landed a perfect counter right that put Mouzhino down and the fight was stopped at 57 seconds.
Peters, 158.6 lbs of Adelaide, AUS is 6-0 with six knockouts. Mouzhino, 158.9 lbs of TLS is 4-1.
Aokuso Stops Hao Po in 1
Paulo Aokuso stopped Kittipong Jian Hao Po in the opening frame of their 10-round light heavyweight bout.
Seconds into the fight, Hao Po injured his right knee without really getting touched. In round one, Aokuso dropped Hao Po with a straight left. Hao Po was hurt and dropped again and clutched the bad knee and the fight was stopped at 2:20.
Aokuso, 174.7 lbs of Sydney is 10-0 with five knockouts. Hao Po, 174.7 lbs of Australia is 13-2-1.
