DAZN ORIGINAL LA GUERRA CIVIL RERELEASING FOR CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND FEATURING LIVE Q&A WITH  OSCAR DE LA HOYA AND JULIO CÉSAR CHÁVEZ

NEW YORK – April 30, 2026 – DAZN, the undisputed global home of boxing, today announced the re-release of the popular feature-length documentary La Guerra Civilavailable to all fans for free, in celebration of this weekend’s May 2 cruiserweight unification bout between Mexican warriors David “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez and Gilbert “Zurdo” Ramirez. The film is a tribute to the country’s rich history of boxing. A DAZN original, the documentary follows the epic rivalry between Hall of Famers Oscar De La Hoya and Julio César Chávez, capturing the magnitude and excitement of an era that continues to influence Mexican boxing today.

The documentary re-release will be accompanied by a rare Q&A session with De La Hoya and Chavez, live from Las Vegas, Nev., on the DAZN YouTube channel at 5 p.m. PT. This exclusive Q&A will further the celebrations and anticipation for what promises to be an all-out war between two of the top Mexican champions in the sport today, live on DAZN PPV on May 2.

“With an all-Mexican War Weekend on deck for this Cinco de Mayo, I am surrounded by the nostalgia of my boxing prime when I fought the best,” said Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya. “My fights with Julio César Chávez defined an era and elevated Mexican boxing on the global stage. La Guerra Civil captures that energy, that tension, that pride. This is our history, and this is why boxing continues to lead the world in passion and legacy.”

Recalling the epic night of the fight, Chavez said, “I stepped into that ring ready to give my people everything to show the world the relentless Mexican style that defined my life. It was the most anticipated fight of our era, but that cut rewrote history. It changed the story for Oscar and me before we could even finish telling it.”

Directed by Eva Longoria and produced by her Emmy-nominated UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, La Guerra Civil explores the storied rivalry between iconic boxers De La Hoya and Chávez during the 1990s, a clash that ignited a cultural divide between Mexican nationals and Mexican Americans. This film chronicles the defining moment in the sport while offering a look into pride, identity, and the compelling story of two Mexican legends.

To take advantage of all DAZN has to offer, boxing fans can subscribe to DAZN Ultimate, ensuring access to 185+ fight nights and a minimum of 12 pay-per-views (PPV) per year.
