Apodaca Shocks Mir on DWCS

Alex Apodaca who was a +1200 underdog won a three round unanimous decision over heralded Bella Mir in a bantamweight bout that headlined Dan White’s Contender Series at the Meta Apex in Los Angels.

Apodaca, 135.5 lbs of Denver via Austin won by scores of 29-28 on all cards and is now 4-1. Mir, 136 lbs of Las Vegas was a -6000 favorite is now 4-1.

Guilherme Uriel choked out Mario Piazzone in the opening round of their heavyweight bout.

Uriel got Piazoone in a front choke that forced a tap out at 50 seconds.

Uriel, 241.5 lbs of Sao Paulo, BRA is now 8-2 with four knockouts and four submissions all in the opening round. Piazzone, 238.5 lbs of Salvador, BRA is 12-2.

Sean Clancy Jr. remained undefeated with a second round stoppage over Gary Balletto Jr. in a welterweight bout.

Clancy took Balletto down and got down and then got on top him. Clancy landed 19 shots on the ground and the fight was stopped at 3:54.

Ronald Humphrey remained perfect by stopping Alexis Miranda in the opening round of their lightweight bout.

Humphrey bloodies Miranda badly over his left eye with a left eye. Humphrey ended the fight with a choke at 4:03.

Humphrey is now 5-0 with five first round stoppages (first submission. Miranda of Tijuana, MEX is 9-3.

Nixk Galanti needed just 35 seconds to take out Carlos Petrozella in a middleweight bout.

Galanti landed a vicious right on the jaw that put Petrozella down and was followed up by five Ground-and-Pound punches and the fight was stopped.

Galanti of New Jersey is 8-1 with two knockouts. Petrozella, 185.5 lbs of Argentina is 1502.
