Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson exchanged words at the final press conference today ahead of their blockbuster rematch for the British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight Titles on Saturday, August 8 at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds, presented by BOXXER and broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN worldwide.
Williamson tore up the script and sent shockwaves through the super middleweight division by knocking Simpson out in front of his home fans in Leeds on December 20, handing the Yorkshireman the first defeat of his professional career and taking the European, British and Commonwealth titles.
Simpson has since linked up with renowned coach Rob McCracken as he looks to right the wrongs of that night and prove he belongs among the elite names in the division.

Troy Williamson said: “He’s with a great team with Rob, and I respect them a lot. I was with them myself for many years when I boxed for Team GB, so I know what they’re all about. They’re great coaches, but unfortunately, it’s not going to be enough. When I beat Callum on Saturday night, I want my world title shot. I do believe that by the end of 2026, I’ll be a world champion.”
Callum Simpson said: “I got caught with a good shot. I got caught too much and let Troy punch me too much. It’s not the best idea in a boxing match. I made too many mistakes and paid the price for it. When you’re winning it’s easy to not look at the mistakes you make and just keep on pushing forward. But after a loss there’s time to sit back, reflect and you know realise that some change needs to be made. He thinks he’s better than me, I think I’m better than him. We’ll find out Saturday night.”
Williamson and Simpson headline a blockbuster night of boxing in Leeds. The all-action undercard features Dutch knockout artist Gradus Kraus taking on Sean Hemphill for the WBA Continental Light Heavyweight Title, Hassan Azim facing Jack Martin in a super welterweight contest, Manchester middleweight Mauro Silva meeting Mike Tyler Christopher in a clash of unbeaten prospects, and James Dean Fury making his professional debut.
