According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, a unification bout between WBC lightweight champion Dejan Zalticanin and WBO beltholder is being discussed for a bout in October.
“I’ve had multiple conversations with Frank and with Showtime, which loves this fight for its ‘Showtime International’ series. They would love to take it (to air) from the U.K.,” said Zlaticanin promoter Lou DiBella said, adding that they are looking to put on the fight in October. “If we get this deal done, the fight would take place over there. Flanagan is very popular in (his hometown) Manchester. We’re getting close to a deal. We’re definitely close.”
“First of all, it’s a damn good fight, a very good fight,” DiBella said. “It’s a good fight but not an easy fight. These guys are two of the best lightweights in the world if not the two best lightweights in the world. [Zlaticanin] doesn’t care about going to Manchester. He’s like a Dr. Seuss book — ‘I’ll beat you here, I’ll beat you there, I’ll beat you anywhere.’ “
