Press Conference Notes: Keyshawn Davis Ready to Settle Unfinished Business in Saturday’s Hometown Rematch against Nahir Albright Live on DAZN

NORFOLK, Va. (May 14, 2026) — Former world champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Keyshawn Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) takes on Philadelphia’s Nahir Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs) in a 12-round super lightweight rematch this Saturday, May 16, at Scope Arena in Keyshawn’s hometown of Norfolk. Keyshawn-Albright II will be streamed live on DAZN beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The two first met in October 2023, when Davis won a majority decision that was later overturned. Since then, the rivalry has only intensified.

In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, former world champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) returns against Canada’s Josh Wagner (19-2, 10 KOs).

This is what the fighters said at Thursday’s press conference.

Keyshawn Davis

On how this fight happened…

“We’re here because Nahir did a great job against Frank Martin, his people kept calling my people, and we picked up his phone call. That’s why we’re here.”

On how he feels about Saturday’s rematch with Nahir Albright…

“I’m happy. I have a great opportunity to perform under these bright lights. I’ve stopped my last three opponents that I’ve fought and this is going to be another stop.”

On if he thinks Nahir made him look ‘regular’ in 2023…

“It’s 2026. That doesn’t matter. I had a win over him and they decided to take it back. I’m going to knock him out in 2026.”

On if he thinks there is unfinished business between him and Nahir…

“We are here to sign contracts and fight, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s not personal, but I’m going to knock him out.”

On his confidence going into this fight…

“God willing, I’m going to get the stoppage. Anyone who steps into a ring with me, I’m going to stop them. I can stop anyone who gets in the ring with me.”

On how Nahir fought against Frank Martin…

“I thought he was going to beat Frank. I went back and watched the fight and I thought he beat him. I thought he did a good job, but they aren’t on my level. I’m not here to go back and forth. You can say whatever you want to say, but I’m going to knock him out Saturday.”

On how he thinks Nahir will fight…

“He’s talking now, he can win this battle right now. But Saturday night, we are going to see.”

On if he thinks he will leave no doubt in this fight…

“I left no doubt in the last fight – everyone knew I won. Now, it’s 2026, and I know who I have against me. I knew when you fought Frank Martin. He’s just another opponent to me, just watch. I’m going to stop him.”

Nahir Albright

On how he feels heading into the fight…

“I feel great. I’m ready, I’m in shape, and I feel great.”

On looking back at how the last matchup with Keyshawn Davis went…

“That night, I would say it was unfortunate. I did my thing that night. He came to my room, and they let me into it. I didn’t get a chance to enjoy the night that I worked so hard for. So I’m looking forward to getting that back in the ring.”

On the Frank Martin fight…

“I showed a glimpse of who I am. Even that night, I could bring more to the table but I showed the world a glimpse of my talent, and they are going to keep seeing it.”

On his improvement since 2023…

“I’ve improved a lot. I got stronger, faster, and my IQ improved. It’s going to show Saturday night.”

On how he thinks the fight will end Saturday…

“With Nahir Albright with his hand raised. That’s it. I’m going to get my hand raised Saturday night, and the whole world is going to see it. You all can laugh, but Saturday night you are going to see.”

Brian Norman Jr.

On the loss with his last time out and the changes he has made since then…

“I’m feeling good, I’m feeling great. I’ve been loving the process, loving the journey, and I’m looking forward to showing what I’ve learned during this time.”

On what he’s been working on since his last fight…

“I’ve been working on pace and mindset behind what I’m doing. I’m trying to go out there and let the game come to me.”

On what made him change coaches…

“I feel like I need to go out and get more experience. I’m learning to grow each and every day.”

On what his motivation is to win another world championship…

“Of course I have that chip on my shoulder, but it’s about going out there, being yourself, and doing what you need to do. The only thing I’m focused on is May 16.”

On his motivation to get a rematch with Devin Haney…

“Of course I’m motivated by that. But I’m focused on May 16.”

Josh Wagner

On his loss and why he is going to be different on Saturday…

“I’m very energetic about this fight. I want to show that I belong here at the top of the 147 division. If they expect me to fight on my backfoot, they have another thing coming.”

On his advantages in this fight…

“I’m being overlooked. They think they are going to run right through me, but that isn’t happening. I can fight, I can box and I can move. Brian Norman Jr. has something coming for him Saturday night.”

On using his big frame to his advantage…

“I feel like I’m big for this weight class so I’m going to try and use my size, my weight, and my lateral movement to my advantage.”

On what people are going to say after Saturday night…

“They are going to say ‘who is Josh ‘The Boss’ Wagner,’ and ‘when can we see him fight again.’”

Kelvin Davis

On being over a year since being in the ring…

“I’m feeling good. I’m ready to go. It’s been a year since I’ve fought so I’ve been itching to get back in the ring.”

On what he learned from taking a loss in his last fight…

“I don’t try to think about what happened prior, I try to think about what’s in front of me. I have short term memory on that.”

On fighting Peter Dobson…

“I don’t try to fight cab drivers. I like jumping into the fire every fight. My last fight was a firefight and it’s the same with this one. Saturday night is going to be spectacular.”

Peter Dobson

On his thoughts on fighting Kelvin Davis…

“I respect him for taking a tough fight. I know I’m one of the toughest in this division. He’s coming up to 147 and fighting one of the toughest guys, so respect to him.”

On fighting on someone else’s home turf…

“You have to come in there and dominate, because the judges are on their side.”

Yan Santana

On how close he believes he is to getting a fight against Bruce ‘Shu-Shu’ Carrington…

“It’s a matter of getting the opportunity. I have shown that I am willing. We have seen each other face to face, but he doesn’t want to fight. It’s easy work.”

On why he thinks Bruce ‘Shu-Shu’ Carrington is easy work…

“I called him out. I asked my team for that fight but he said no. I want to face anyone at 126 pounds. I want to fight against the best so I can be a champion.”

On what he has to do to stop Cristian Cruz Chacon…

“I’m happy and grateful to the team of Cristian Cruz Chacon for accepting this fight. He’s a warrior and I know we’re going to give a good fight.”

Cristian Cruz Chacon

On how he feels fighting for a title…

“I started my career on the wrong foot, but I’m much better now. This is my moment. That title is borrowed because it is mine, and on Saturday it will be mine.”

On what he has to do to win on Saturday…

“Well he has his style and his quality, but I’ve been sparring with the likes of Naoya Inoue. I am a proven fighter, and I see this as another stepping stone to me. We will see how this test goes and see what comes after.”

Keon Davis

On fighting in his backyard…

“This is my third time fighting in front of my city [Norfolk], and it’s going to be the same outcome. Last time I was here I made ESPN Top 10.”

On what kind of atmosphere he expects on Saturday…

“I’m expecting an electrifying crowd. Norfolk is going to bring that energy, and you’re going to see the Juice Man perform.”

Montreal Experience greatly benefited Undefeated Kansas boxing prospect Marco Romero for this Saturday’s fight

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 14, 2026) – Undefeated Kansas prospect Marco “El Tiburón” Romero (13-0, 11 KOs) headed north to prepare for his fight this Saturday night on “The Return,” presented by Kansas City Boxing Promotions, at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.

A promotional free agent, the multi-gifted 20-year-old Romero recently spent 2 weeks training in Montreal as a guest of host Eye of the Tiger (EOTT), which is loaded with talented super middleweights from around the world, including International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Champion Osleys Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs) and top contender Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs).

Romero, fighting out of Olathe (KS), didn’t get an opportunity to spar with Iglesias, who had returned home to Germany after his most recent fight, or Mbilli because he was in Saudi Arabia signing his contract to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (63-3-2. 39 KOs) in September. The Mexican American phenom did gain invaluable experience sparring super middleweights (14-0, 10 KOs) Moreno Fendero (France) and (32-1, 23 KOs) Eric Bazinyan (Armenia), as well as light heavyweight (11-1, 10 KOs) Iman Kathaev (Russia), among the more notables.

(L-R – Moreno Fendero & Marco Romero

“It was amazing,” Romero spoke about his Montreal experience. “This was my first time sparring outside of the United States. I sparred (fellow Kansan) Eric Priest (16-0-1, 8 KOs) in California and there were some good fighters I sparred when I trained in Tampa. But I learned so much from sparring some great fighters in Montreal, and there were some great coaches, too. I got to work with so many different styled fighters. I had to adjust, using my speed with more head movement, and footwork. I sparred guys who were heavy-handed, bigger and older than me.

“I really expanded my boxing knowledge. From the moment we arrived in Montreal, we were welcomed with open arms and love, especially by (EOTT Director of Boxing Development and elite trainer) Marc Ramsey, who is such a nice guy. I really appreciated my Montreal experience.”

(L-R) – Iman Kathaev

“He seems to be even more focused and determined since he came home than he was before,” Romero’s manager/head trainer John Brown commented. “Part of what we have gotten him to be a fulltime boxer to do his job and become more Hagler-like. Marco is becoming more powerful but remember, he’s just a baby, only 20. My job is to make sure he reaches his full potential and keep him healthy.

“I couldn’t be happier with him training in Montreal. I have two good trainers who were amateur boxers, but the missing element has been quality sparring. There’s nobody for him to spar within 400 miles. The Montreal experience was so important for us.”

“El Tiburón” headlines “The Return” this Saturday in an 8-round bout, contested at a 165-pound catchweight, against late replacement Andre Sherrod (5-4, 4 KOs), a southpaw from Milwaukee. Sherrod is a very late replacement for Chown Sims (10-2, 5 KOs), who pulled out of his second scheduled fight with Marco.

Neither the new opponent nor the fact he’s a southpaw concerns Romero, who added: “Absolutely doesn’t matter. I’m going in the ring like I always do, doing my job to the best of my abilities. I’ve fought some lefties and I have the perfect right hand against them.”

Romero, who was a sensational amateur boxer – 130-5 record – hasn’t lost a fight in nearly 7 years, since he dropped a split decision on June 28, 2019, at the National Junior Olympics.

Like Dorothy and Toto from The Wizard of Oz, Marco Romero isn’t just in Kansas anymore.

FRANCESCA HENNESSY FACES AURORA DE PERSIO ON MAY 30 IN LONDON, LIVE AND FREE-TO-AIR ON BBC TWO & BBC IPLAYER

Francesca Hennessy returns to action live and free-to-air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer as the ‘Billion Dollar Baby’ defends her WBC Silver Bantamweight Title against Aurora De Persio on Saturday, May 30 at OVO Arena Wembley in London as part of BOXXER’s Betfred Fight Night

Hennessy (8-0, 1 KO) stands on the edge of glory following her WBC final eliminator victory over Ellie Bouttell at the Copper Box Arena in January. The 21-year-old will now put her undefeated record on the line against Italian champion De Persio (8-1, 3 KOs).

Victory is crucial for Hennessy as she looks to make history and secure her shot at undisputed bantamweight champion Cherneka Johnson later this year. Hennessy’s ambition is to become the youngest-ever undisputed world champion, a record currently held by Gabriela Fundora, who claimed all four major titles at the age of 22.

Hennessy versus De Persio will serve as chief support to Adam Azim’s high-stakes super lightweight clash with top Canadian contender Steve Claggett.

Francesca Hennessy said: “I’m really excited to be back fighting on the BBC. The support has been unbelievable and every time I fight, I want to put on a big performance for everyone watching at home and in the arena.

“This is another important test for me. I’ve always wanted to challenge myself against good opponents because that’s what will prepare me for world title fights.

“I know what I want to achieve in this sport and every fight is another step towards becoming world champion. I’m staying focused, improving every camp and I can’t wait to put on a show on May 30.”

BOXXER Founder & CEO Ben Shalom said: “This was already a huge fight night and it’s now even bigger with Francesca Hennessy returning in another major fight live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. She has quickly become one of the breakout stars in British boxing and the viewing figures and momentum behind her are incredible.

“Full credit to Francesca because once again she’s taking on a tough opponent at a crucial stage in her career. Having won a final eliminator, a lot of fighters would sit on the sidelines and protect their position, but that tells you everything about her mindset and ambitions.

“When you look at fighters like Francesca Hennessy and Adam Azim leading this card, you are seeing two future world champions aged 23 and under with enormous futures ahead of them. British boxing is in very good hands.”

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of Sport at the BBC, said: “Francesca Hennessy is one of the brightest young stars in British sport and this is a huge step in her journey towards a world title shot. With Adam Azim headlining and a stacked undercard featuring some of the sport’s top emerging talent, viewers can expect an incredible evening of boxing live on the BBC on 30 May.”

Alongside Adam Azim and Francesca Hennessy, BOXXER’s action-packed fight card will also feature Newham born boxer Joel Kodua (11-0, 3 KOs) defending his English Welterweight Title against his unbeaten mandatory challenger Will Harrison (8-0-2), while IBO Cruiserweight Champion Juergen Uldedaj (21-1, 8 KOs) puts his belt on the line against undefeated American Muhsin Carson (14-0, 11 KOs).

Hillingdon heavyweight Ergal Elezaj (5-0, 1 KO) returns after impressing on his BOXXER debut earlier this year, joined by Amir Khan’s cousin Abdul Khan (14-0, 3 KOs) and Birmingham boxing lawyer Oscar ‘De La Lawyer’ McCracken (5-0).

Luton lightweight Saqib Mehmood (2-0) is also set for action, plus 18-year-old Southampton bantamweight prospect Vijayray Karia (6-0, 1 KO) and south coast heavyweight hopeful Derrick Osadolor (0-1) from Portsmouth.

Tickets are available now via Tixr at BOXXER.com.

This event is presented in association with BOXXER’s official partners Betfred, Riyadh Season, That Prize Guy, Tixr and Champion.

Canadian Cruiserweight Contender Ryan Rozicki Fires Warning Shot at Chris Billam-Smith Ahead of Zuffa Boxing 07 showdown on June 6

HAMILTON, Ontario, Canada (May 11, 2026) – Canadian cruiserweight contender Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki (21-1-1, 20 KOs) has issued a warning to Chris “The Gentleman” Billam-Smith (21-2, 13 KOs) in advance of their June 6th showdown in Bournemouth, England.

The 10-round Smith-Billam vs. Rozicki bout will headline Zuffa Boxing’s first event in the United Kingdom, which will be held in the British fighter’s hometown.

Rozicki, 31, recently spent a week in England taking part in media and promotional activities ahead of their highly anticipated cruiserweight clash, which former world cruiserweight champion Billam-Smith stated he has no intention of approaching the fight with Rozicki the way Yamil Peralta did twice, vowing to stand and fight.

“I feel like this is a big moment for my fans, promotion and team,” Rozicki said. “I’m grateful for that but, for me, personally, it’s just another fight. Chris said he’s not going to run like Peralta did. I’m hoping he keeps his word, but he probably won’t because it sounds too good to be true. Either way, he’s in for the toughest night of his life. Fighting, not boxing, is who I am and what I’m all about!”

Three Lions Promotions managing director Daniel Otter sincerely believes Rozicki’’s constant pressure, dangerous power, and old-school mentality will be the deciding factors in this fan-friendly matchup.

“Being around Sky Sports’ promotional work for a week,” Otter added, “you could see how dialed-in Ryan was from the start. The pressure, the cameras, the attention – none of that bothered Ryan for a second.

“I think Billam-Smith and his coach, Shane McGuigan, believe they have this all figured out. They don’t! Ryan brings a kind of pressure you cannot prepare for until you are locked in the ring with him. They can talk about standing and fighting all they want, but once Ryan starts walking Billam-Smith down, we’ll see how long that lasts. You can only move for so long. As the great Joe Louis famously said, ‘You can run but you can’t hide.”

As Rozicki continues his mission to become the first Canadian-born World Cruiserweight Champion, much more is at risk because the winner of Smith-Billam vs. Rozicki will be in line to challenge Zuffa Boxing and Ring Magazine’s World Cruiserweight Champion, Jai Opetaia (30-0, 23 KOs).

They are two of the highest-rated world cruiserweight contenders – Billam-Smith: #3 Ring Magazine & IBF, #4 WBC & WBA, #5 WBO; Rozicki: #1 WBC, #6 Ring Magazine, #8 WBA, #11 IBF.

Smith-Billam held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Heavyweight (Cruiserweight) World title from 2023 to 2024, in order, including victories, over 19-0 Lawrence Okolie (DEC12), 47-5 Mateusz Masternak (RTD8), and 17-0 Richard Riakporhe (DEC12) in a rematch that avenged his lone loss at that point. Smith-Billam’s crown was taken by 46-1 Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez in Saudi Arabia by way of a 12-round unanimous decision (116-112 X2, 116-113), in which the tough Brit reportedly suffered a broken right thumb, fractured left hand, multiple stitches inside and outside of his left eye, along with damaged ribs.

Rozicki hasn’t fought on an international stage like he will against Billam-Smith. His only loss was in 2021, when he moved up one weight class to fight Olympian Oscar Rivas (27-1) – spotting the Colombian 20 pounds — for the inaugural WBA Bridgerweight Championship match. Rivas won by scores of 115-112 twice and 116-111. Ryan defeated the aforementioned Peralta in 2022 by way of a 10-round split decision in addition to their 12-round majority draw in 2024.

Rozicki has never fought on an international stage like he will on June 6th in Bournemouth, which will be broadcast on Sky Sports, and this career-changing opportunity for Rozicki to make a statement that he is a major player in the cruiserweight division.

“Mark my words,” Otter predicted, “on June 6 the boxing world is going to discover one of boxing’s best kept secrets, Ryan Rozicki.”

Judgement Day coming this Friday In Germany for Paddy Donovan

LIMERICK, Ireland (May 11, 2026) – Irish eyes will be focused on Germany this Friday night when Limerick favorite Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) takes on Karen Chukhadzhian (26-3, 14 KOs) in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Welterweight Title Eliminator at SAP-Arena in Mannheim.

The winner of the scheduled 12-round fight will become the IBF No. 1, mandatory challenger for the winner of the IBF title fight between defending champion Lewis “The Croc” Crocker (22-0, 11 KOs) and challenger and IBF No. 2 rated Liam Paro (27-1, 16 KOs). Crocker vs. Paro was postponed due to an injury suffered by Crocker and it still needs to be rescheduled.

“There’s a lot of pride in representing Ireland on a stage like this,’ Donovan said. “I know fans back home will be supporting me, and I plan on giving them a performance they’ll remember.”

Donovan vs. Chukhadzhian is a crossroads match for both fighters, at least for now at this level. Both have lost world title fights but neither fighter has ever been stopped as professionals. A native of Ukraine, Chukhadzhian will have the hometown advantage because this will be his tenth consecutive fight in Germany; Donovan has never fought outside of his native Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Donovan, 27, is coming off two disappointing, controversial losses in a row to Crocker, both in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The first was in an IBF Eliminator in which Donovan pounded Crocker, dropping him once and on the verge of a second knockdown, when he was disqualified in the right round for hitting late. The IBF mandated a rematch because the referee wasn’t in a proper position to separate the two boxers when the bell sounded.

Donovan’s second fight against Crocker was for the vacant IBF world title because Jaron “Boots” Ennis relinquished his crown to move up to junior middleweight division. Donovan lost a 12-round majority decision but an appeal by his team resulted in another shot in an IBF Eliminator, against Paro with the winner facing Crocker as the mandatory challenger. Donovan, however, was forced to pull out of the fight due to illness, and the IBF ordered Crocker vs. Paro.

Another IBF Eliminator was ordered between the highest rated, available IBF welterweights, No. 2 Donovan and No. 7 Chukhadzhian. Two of Chukhadzhian’s losses have been to Ennis, including their IBF World title and Interim fights, both resulting in 12-round decisions.

“Every fight has prepared me for this opportunity,” Donovan explained. “I’m locked in mentally, physically, and emotionally. On fight night, I plan on showing the world that I’m ready for a world title.

“I’ve learned from every experience in this sport – the lows, the setbacks, the controversies — all of it! It’s made me stronger, sharper, and more dangerous heading into this fight.”

Donovan, his head trainer/co-manager Andy Lee, and co-manager Keith Sullivan, along with all Irish fights fans are hoping the third time’s the charm for Paddy.

“From the moment I started working with Paddy,” Sullivan added, “I believed he had what it takes to become a world champion. My job is to guide him, protect him, and put him in position to reach the promised land of a world title. He’s done the hard work, made the sacrifices and now he’s ready to go to Germany and close in on the biggest stage in boxing.”

CHRIS WEIDMAN NAMED TO UFC® HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2026

Las Vegas – UFC® today announced that former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s ‘Modern Wing’ as a member of the Class of 2026. The 2026 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Thursday, July 9, as part of the 14th Annual UFC International Fight Week.

“Chris Weidman is one of the greatest middleweights in UFC history,” said UFC President & CEO Dana White. “Chris consistently competed against the best athletes in the world during his career, and his victories over Anderson Silva changed the landscape of the middleweight division forever. It will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.”

Weidman will enter the UFC Hall of Fame as the 19th member of the Modern Wing. The Modern Era category includes athletes who turned pro on or after November 17, 2000, when the first UFC event under the unified rules of MMA was held. Other requirements include a minimum age of 35 or those who have been retired for one year or more.

A veteran of 24 fights during his 15-year MMA career, Weidman registered a 16-8 (12-8, UFC), record, securing victories over UFC Hall of Famers Anderson SilvaVitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum (Fight Wing), as well as former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida

Weidman made his professional MMA debut on February 20, 2009, winning each of his first four fights in Ring of Combat before signing with UFC.

Weidman made his UFC debut on the main card of UFC LIVE: SANCHEZ vs. KAMPMANN, which took place on March 3, 2011, at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He would defeat his opponent, Alessio Sakara, via unanimous decision to launch his career inside the Octagon.

Weidman would win his next four fights to earn a title shot against then-middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 162.

UFC® 162: SILVA vs. WEIDMAN took place on July 6, 2013, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  Both Silva and Weidman entered the match on impressive winning streaks of 17 and 9, respectively. Having won 16 fights with UFC and 10 title defenses, Silva was aiming to secure a new record of most consecutive title defenses with a victory over Weidman.

Weidman took control of the first round early with a takedown 30 seconds into the match with Silva countering from his back. Weidman continued landing shots from top position, but Silva reversed his heel hook position with two minutes remaining. Weidman and Silva would trade punches in the center of the Octagon for the remainder of the round, with Silva taunting Weidman with his hands on his hips to excite the crowd.

Silva continued to taunt Weidman at the beginning of the second round, evading his punches and takedown attempts. With 3:46 remaining Weidman threw a flurry of punches, connecting on a left hook that knocked out Silva and ended the fight.

Weidman’s KO victory over Silva is widely regarded as one of the biggest upsets in combat sports history as Silva, then the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, was as one of MMA’s biggest stars.

Weidman and Silva would meet five months later for a rematch at UFC® 168: WEIDMAN vs. SILVA 2, which took place on December 28, 2013, at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Weidman would win the rematch and defend the middleweight title after Silva broke his leg landing a kick to Weidman’s shin.

Weidman would defend the middleweight title by winning his next two fights over Machida and Belfort, before losing his first fight to former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in the co-main event of UFC 194 on December 12, 2015.

Over the next eight years, Weidman would compete in 11 more bouts against the top ranked middleweights in the world, before retiring in December 2024 after a loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310.

Outside the Octagon, Weidman has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career, receiving Breakthrough Fighter of the Year in 2012 by the Fighters Only World MMA Awards and Fighter of the Year in 2013 by Yahoo! Sports, MMA Junkie and the Fighters Only World MMA Awards.

A native of Baldwin, New York, Weidman began wrestling at a young age and became a New York state wrestling champion while attending Baldwin Senior High School. Following high school, Weidman earned NJCAA All-America honors at Nassau Community College in 2004 and 2005, before transferring to Hofstra. At Hofstra, he continued to thrive, becoming a two-time NCAA All-American in 2006 and 2007. Weidman currently serves as an analyst / commentator for UFC events broadcast on Paramount+.

THOMAS GERBASI NAMED TO UFC® HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2026

Las Vegas – UFC today announced that longtime UFC writer and editorial director, Thomas Gerbasi, has been named to the UFC Hall of Fame class for 2026 as a Contributor. The 2026 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Thursday, July 9, as part of the 14th Annual UFC International Fight Week.

“Tom was a close member of the UFC family and a very talented writer,” said UFC President & CEO Dana White.

If you’ve ever read anything at all on UFC.com, the UFC print magazine, or any number of official books on UFC, you’ve read the writing of Thomas Gerbasi. For almost two decades, Tom served as editorial director, head writer, and company historian for UFC, recording, reporting, and telling the tale of the world’s greatest sports organization as it unfolded in real time.

A proud native New Yorker, Gerbasi graduated from St. John’s University and celebrated his life-long love of boxing in early web publications like HouseOfBoxing.com and MaxBoxing.com, where he quickly became recognized as an authority in the sport.

In 2024, he was honored with the Nat Fleischer Award for excellence in boxing journalism from the Boxing Writers Association of America. In 2022, he was inducted into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame for his work as a journalist covering the sport. His final book Boxing: The 100 Greatest Fighters, was released in September 2025.

His acumen in boxing and combat sports eventually caught the eye of UFC, where he would transfer his massive knowledge and immense credibility to the world of mixed martial arts. He authored several of the definitive works on the company, including UFC: A Visual History; The UFC Encyclopedia; and The Official UFC Fan Guide. He diligently kept meticulous biographies of every fighter and was recognized as the utmost authority both inside and outside of UFC.

But arguably his biggest journalistic contribution was to UFC’s website, a place where week after week, month after month, and year after year, he told the stories of the men and women who stepped into the Octagon. He was guided by the mantra “tell the stories that only we can tell,” and demanded that his team do the same. Giving as much credence to a young new fighter on the early prelims as he did the most decorated of champions, Gerbasi’s words introduced the world to thousands of MMA athletes. He spent his days talking to each and every member of the UFC roster, who implicitly trusted him to tell their diverse and inspiring stories.

Beyond the printed and digital media domains, Gerbasi’s contributions extended to the entire UFC organization, making his impact in departments as varied as public relations, creative, live production, and broadcast. In short, anytime strong, credible copy about UFC was needed, Tom was the guy.

In addition to his own books and his invaluable contributions to UFC, Gerbasi’s work appeared in myriad publications, including The Ring MagazineThe Village VoiceThe IndependentThe Boston HeraldKingUppercutWomen’s Boxing WorldBoxing NewsESPN.com, and countless others.

Outside of combat sports, Gerbasi was an avowed family man, caring for his wife, daughter, and two young granddaughters daily. He played goalie in an organized soccer league on Sundays and ran numerous marathons in his spare time. He loved music and celebrated great cuisine.

Keyshawn Davis: “Nahir Albright’s Going To Be the Fourth Guy I Stop in a Row!”

LAS VEGAS (May 8, 2026) — Keyshawn Davis is coming back home with a score to settle and another stoppage on his mind.

The former world champion and Olympic silver medalist will face Nahir Albright in a 12-round super lightweight rematch on Saturday, May 16, at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, former world champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) returns against Canada’s Josh Wagner (19-2, 10 KOs).

In additional action, Keyshawn’s older brother Kelvin Davis (15-1, 8 KOs) returns in a 10-round welterweight clash against Bronx native Peter Dobson (17-3, 10 KOs), while unbeaten Dominican contender Yan Santana (16-0, 13 KOs) faces Cristian Cruz Chacon (24-7-2, 12 KOs) in a 10-rounder at featherweight.

Keyshawn-Albright II, Norman-Wagner, Davis-Dobson and Santana-Cruz will be streamed LIVE on DAZN beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with RDR Promotions, tickets are on sale at the Scope Arena box office and via Ticketmaster.com.

Keyshawn (14-0, 10 KOs) captured the WBO lightweight crown with a fourth-round stoppage of Denys Berinchyk in February 2025. The 27-year-old was scheduled to make his first title defense against Edwin De Los Santos last June in Norfolk, but the bout was canceled after he missed weight. He has since regrouped at 140 pounds, handing Jamaine Ortiz his first TKO defeat in January, and now returns home to settle unfinished business. Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs), a battle-tested Philadelphia native, has built momentum since his first fight with Keyshawn by handing Kelvin Davis his first pro loss last June and battling Frank Martin to a draw in January.

Following a recent training session at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas, this is what Keyshawn said:

On fighting in his hometown…

“Man, fighting in my hometown is always exciting. I’ll be walking out and seeing teachers who used to teach me in middle school and stuff. My whole family comes down from New York. I got family in D.C., and of course my family in Virginia. So it’s always exciting.”

“I don’t understand why people say it’s harder for them to fight in their hometown. I don’t understand it. I’ve traveled the world and fought in different countries where the crowd was against me, and I still went out there and won. So fighting in my hometown is so much more comfortable. I feel like my best performances come from fighting in my hometown, and I just can’t wait to do it all over again.”

On rising through the ranks with his brothers…

“It’s like home, man. We’ve been fighting at home, took it to the gym, fought in the gym, and now we fighting on the world stage. So, I love it. It’s different. It’s something that people never really seen before in the sport of boxing, you know? Three brothers fighting, especially on the same card. May 16th, Scope Arena, man. Make sure y’all tune in. It’s gonna be something special.”

On Albright telling Keyshawn to be ready…

“That’s what everybody says. They’re supposed to promote themselves. I don’t want an opponent who’s going to go in there and just lay down. In every fight I have, they should be coming confident, ready and prepared. So, he’s saying all the right things.”

“I know what I need to do. I know what I need to do to get prepared. I’m a better Keyshawn now. I’m not up-and-coming any more. I’m a former world champion. And it’s going to show on May 16.”

On his recent stoppage wins…

“I’m starting to understand the game. I’m starting to understand myself and the blessing and abilities that I have and that God gave me. When I go in there super focused and in shape, I know nobody can hang with me. But even if they can hang, they’re going to get stopped too. I’m confident in myself that I can stop anybody in the ring, from 140 to 147.”

On what to expect fight night…

“This fight is going to be amazing because I’m amazing and I go in there and stop guys. And that’s what people pay to see.”

“My job is to go out there and fight. I got into this position by knocking people out and being myself. That’s the only thing I need to do.”

“This is an opportunity to stop guys that have never been stopped before. Albright’s going to be the fourth guy I stop in a row. They’re going to keep saying that I’m going to be one of the greatest of all time.”

Athens, Greece (May 7, 2026) – On Saturday, June 27, worldwide hall-of-fame boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather will face kickboxing all-time-great “Iron” Mike Zambidis to headline “Battle of the Legends: Mayweather vs. Zambidis,” an explosive full-contact pay-per-view exhibition showdown.

The event is presented live by Frontrow Fight Series, Mayweather Promotions, and Zambidis Club from the Telekom Center, Athens at OAKA Olympic Complex in Athens, Greece.

Pay-per-view details will be announced soon. Tickets can be purchased via More.com.

One of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all time, Floyd Mayweather’s legendary career saw him compile a perfect 50-0 record while winning 15 major world championships spanning five weight classes, from super featherweight to light middleweight. Mayweather was named “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2010s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) and The Sporting News. He is also a three-time winner of the BWAA Fighter of the Year and a six-time winner of the ESPY Award’s Best Fighter.

In 2016, ESPN ranked him the greatest boxer of the last 25 years. The Ring ranked him the greatest boxer, pound-for-pound, of the 21st century.

Since his retirement in 2017, Mayweather has traveled the world fighting exhibitions against a variety of opponents from different disciplines and backgrounds, often in exotic locations such as Dubai, Japan, and the U.K.

“This is an opportunity for me to sharpen my skills for what’s to come this year,” said Mayweather. “I’ve never fought in Greece before, but I look forward to experiencing their beautiful country and meeting their people. Mike Zambidis has achieved a lot in his sport, but I’ve stayed sharp and I’m ready for anything thrown my way.”

Mike Zambidis is a legendary Greek kickboxer and 18-time world champion, best known for his career in K-1 MAX. A former member of the Greek National Boxing Team, Zambidis was part of the pre-Olympic squad for the 2000 Sydney Games.

During his record-breaking boxing and kickboxing careers, Zambidis compiled a record of 158-22 with 87 knockouts against the best kickboxers in the world, and for the most important organizations in the planet. In a worldwide vote, Zambidis was named K-1 MVP by an outstanding majority of 42.6%. His fights in K-1 were ranked as the best fights gathering 60% of all votes, while the second athlete gathered only 7.8% of votes. Zambidis’ fights receive record television viewership in his native Greece and his KO victory over Chahid “The Pitbull” Oulad El Hadj is characterized as the best fight in the history of kickboxing.

A native of Athens, Zambidis also owns two state-of-the-art gyms, the Zambidis Clubs and currently serves in the important and responsible position of Chairman of the Sports and Education Committee in the Region of Attica with the vision of “Evolution and Contribution.”

“It’s an incredible thrill for me to face the great Floyd Mayweather,” said Mike Zambidis. “I have faced many of the best fighters of several disciplines, but I am looking forward to testing my skills against one of the greatest boxers of all time and I’m very happy to be having this experience in front of my beloved Greek people.”

Keane Anis is the CEO of Frontrow Fight Series and Front Row Entertainment, well known for his close friendship and partnership with Floyd Mayweather on international exhibition fights.

For the last 20 years, Anis has been organizing major sports and music events, as well as high-profile celebrity appearances around the globe. Anis has been instrumental in expanding Mayweather’s exhibition footprint via his FrontRow Fight Series through events such as Mayweather vs. Don Moore at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, and Floyd Mayweather vs. Aaron Chalmers at The O2 Arena.

“This is an important event for the people of Greece and fight fans worldwide who wonder what would happen if two of the world’s best collided,” said Keane Anis. “Like our previous events with Floyd Mayweather, this, too, will be a great success, as I’m sure the people in Athens and viewers around the world will enjoy ‘The Best Ever’s’ return to the ring in this exhibition.”

UNBEATEN RISING PROSPECT JESSIE FLETCHER SIGNS MANAGERIAL PACT WITH FIGHTERS FIRST MANAGEMENT

ATLANTA – May 6, 2026 – Fighters First Management has officially announced the signing of another young rising star to join their growing stable, as unbeaten Jessie Fletcher has become the latest fighter to turn to the burgeoning managerial company in search of support in reaching his world title aspirations.

“I’m super excited to be working with Fighters First Management after seeing the progress they made with Brian Norman Jr., as well as the big names they work with such as Errol Spence Jr. and Edwin De Los Santos,” said Fletcher. “For all the fans, I’m excited to finally show the skills I have and put on the best performance I possibly can every time I step into the ring.”

Born in Houston, Fletcher’s family moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, as he began to pursue his boxing dream at just eight-years-old. Now sporting a perfect 11-0 record, Fletcher has shown tremendous power by ending all 11 fights by knockout. In his last outing the 25-year-old turned away his toughest opponent to date, stopping the 19-6 David Lobo Ramirez with just two seconds left in round one.

As he continues his ascent toward contender status, Fighters First CEO Adrian Clark stated his belief that Fletcher could follow in the successful footsteps of another Lafayette-native, UFC star Dustin Poirier.

“I think Jessie could have a similar impact on boxing as Dustin Poirier had on the UFC,” said Clark. “He comes to fight and has power in both hands. I can’t wait to see Jessie back in the ring sooner than later.”

“I’ve known Jessie since he was a kid and I’m very excited to finally have him with the Fighters First family,” said Kenny Pyle, co-owner of Fighters First Management. “[legendary Lafayette-based boxing trainer] Beau Williford would be extremely pleased.”

The signing is the latest for Clark during a successful recent run that saw him help guide Brian Norman Jr. to a welterweight world championship, while also adding top contender Edwin De Los Santos and Domonique Francis to his fast-growing stable of fighters.

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor Graduates to 10-rounder this Saturday in Atlanta

NEW YORK CITY (May 6, 2026) – Undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor (11-0, 7 KOs) has graduated to 10-round matches, starting this Saturday night (May 9) in Atlanta against upset-minded Calvin Barnett (7-4, 4 KOs).

Taylor vs. Barnett is on a card presented by Taylor’s promoter, Salita Promotions, which will be streamed on DAZN live from Gateway Center Arena.

This fight will mark the first scheduled 10-round bout in Taylor’s relatively short professional career, another goal that the 29-year-old Taylor will soon attain.

“I feel like this (first slated 10-rounder) means I’ve made it to the next level,” Taylor said. “I’ve been training to go 10 rounds, if needed, for a long time and I always pace myself in fights to try not to do too much. I’m capable of going 10 rounds, but I always go in the ring trying to end the fight early.”

A former college basketball, the 6’ 4”, 275-pound Taylor will face another upset specialist in Barnett, who has knocked off 2 unbeaten fighters in his last 3 fights, 11-0 Drake Banks (WKO3) and Dominique Valera 8-0-2 (WDEC3).

“Every great heavyweight has a moment where the spotlight gets brighter, and the competition gets real,” Taylor’s manager Keith Sullivan commented. “For Pryce Taylor, that moment is this weekend in Atlanta. I fully expect him to rise to the moment and show the world he is ready to be the future of the American heavyweight division. His opponent is more than a gatekeeper; he is a record destroyer, taking away his last two opponents’ unblemished records.”

Barnett stands 6’ 3“ and weighs 250-pounds. The dangerous southpaw is a former Oklahoma State Heavyweight Champion.

“Like some of my other opponents,” Taylor noted, “He looks good on paper but not when they get in the ring with me. I’ve fought 4 lefthanded fighters and I have a good straight right, so he’s no different than some of my opponents.”

Taylor will be fighting for the 8th time in the last 17 months, something the Brooklynite embraces and more.

“I like to fight as often as possible to keep busy,” Taylor concluded. “The busier I can be keeps me sharp while I gain more experience.”

Taylor spent a large share of his training camp as a sparring partner for former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (45-4-1, 43 KOs), as well as undefeated Ukrainian heavyweight prospect Andrii Novytskyi (16-0, 12 KOs) in Long Beach, California.

Keith Sullivan, a former New York State Athletic Commission Deputy Commissioner, also manages undefeated 3-time, 2-division World Champion Miyo Yoshida (19-5, 1 KO), Bronx NYPD officer Nisa Rodriguez (4-1, 2 KOs), Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga (21-1, 21 KOs), lightweight Fei Faiva (6-0-1, 4 KOs) and junior featherweight prospect Brooklyn “The Big Deal” Barwick (4-1, 4 KOs). Sullivan co-manages IBF Welterweight World title challenger Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) and his cousin, middleweight Jim Donovan (2-0, 1 KO), alongside coach and ex-world champion Andy Lee.

Press Conference Notes: Abdullah Mason Set for Hometown Title Defense against Joe Cordina July 4 at Cleveland’s Wolstein Center

CLEVELAND (May 5, 2026) — Boxing’s youngest world champion is set to make his first defense in front of a hometown crowd on the 250th anniversary of American independence as part of TNT Sports and DAZN’s inaugural The Fight event, a new monthly live boxing series.

Abdullah Mason will defend his WBO lightweight world title against Welsh former world champion Joe Cordina on Saturday, July 4, at Cleveland’s Wolstein Center.

Today, the City of Cleveland and Top Rank hosted a kickoff press conference at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to announce the event. Mason was joined by Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, Top Rank VP of Boxing Operations Carl Moretti, WBC featherweight world champion Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, and Cleveland native and U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson.

The Fight: Mason vs. Cordina will be broadcast on TNT and DAZN co-exclusively in the US and on DAZN Worldwide.

In the co-feature, Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs) puts his WBC featherweight world title on the line against Mexico’s Rene Palacios (19-0-1, 10 KOs).

Additionally, Tiger (17-0, 8 KOs) takes on fellow unbeaten Christopher Guerrero (16-0, 9 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight battle.

And undefeated lightweight knockout artist Deric “Scooter” Davis (11-0, 10 KOs) returns in an eight-round clash against Carlos Ramos (18-4-1, 10 KOs).

The Mason-Cordina, Carrington-Palacios, Tiger-Guerrero and Davis-Ramos fights will be broadcast LIVE beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Matchroom Boxing, tickets go on sale Friday, May 8, at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster.com.

This is what the press conference participants had to say Tuesday.

Abdullah Mason

On Cordina’s statement on the fight…

“He doesn’t know any better. When the bell rings, that’s all that matters. It sounds cool right now, but I know I’m going to have fun on July 4th. As soon as that bell rings, I’m going to have fun doing what I do. He’s not going to expect what I have coming for him.”

On his fight with Sam Noakes…

“Just as the fight with Sam Noakes went down, I feel like this fight will set the tone for whatever is going to come next. Me and my brothers in the city of Cleveland, we are putting on for the city. We are making sure that everything we do is big. We have a lot of support and we appreciate that. There is going to be a lot of smoke…we’ll call this one a cookout.”

On the best memories that shaped his boxing career…

I’ve been in the gym and training with my brothers since I was nine years old. My memories are always training with them and giving me that support and making me do better inside and outside of the ring. Fifteen fights ago they were saying ‘this next fight is going to be in Cleveland, this next fight is going to be in Cleveland’, and now it’s in Cleveland.”

On fighting in his hometown of Cleveland…

“I’m really appreciative of Cleveland. The city always comes out, the Mayor always shows support. We’re ready to get it on. We are ready for everybody to grab their tickets as soon as they go on sale.”

On if he can be locked in while watching other people…

I know for sure every time I step in the ring and that bell goes off, I’m ready. Whenever I step into that ring and the lights come on, I’m ready. Joe may see what he sees, but he doesn’t know what he has coming.”

On what he has seen from Joe Cordina…

“He’s definitely a volume puncher. He has some good offense, quick, and has good feet. I would say he’s well rounded in what he does. But everything he does, I do better.”

On if he thinks he could be the second person to stop Cordina…

“For sure. I’m just here to have a lot of fun. I’m not going to tell you how it’s going to go down, I know July 4th, I’m going to enjoy it just as much as Cleveland is going to enjoy it.”

Joe Cordina

On his excitement for this fight…

“The 4th of July is a massive day for America but it’s also a massive day for boxing. Abdullah is a good fighter, but I’m looking to come f*** up his homecoming. I’m coming to rip his heart out and bring it back to the UK.”

Tiger Johnson

On fighting in Cleveland…

“It means everything, it’s a dream come true. It’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little kid. In Cleveland, we breed killers. We bring some of the best boxers in history. It’s hard to make it out of Cleveland. If you make it out of there, you can make it anywhere.”

Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington

On reflecting on his recent fight…

“Seeing how the fans took it, I would give it a solid eight. The fighter in me wanted complete dominance, but it just added to the story of it and made it more memorable.”

On fighting in Cleveland…

“We are no stranger to collaborating in Cleveland. Cleveland and Brooklyn both have notorious thugs. Right now it’s the perfect time to introduce myself to a place I’ve never fought in before.”

On what he is looking to show in this fight…

“Every single fight I have is a statement made. I feel like this is one of those things to show people why I am a champion. Even though I have this title, a real champion is someone who can defend it successfully.”

On what he is expecting come fight night…

TheShu Shu Show is going to be bringing fireworks as everyone knows.”

On wanting to fight people in his weight class…

At the end of the day, I just want to be the best. And I will be. I will be the first undisputed featherweight champion in this era. Put that in the history books.”

Carl Moretti, Vice President, Boxing Operations, Top Rank

On the importance of bringing a fight card of this caliber to Cleveland…

“Top Rank has had a long history of building guys in their hometown and there is nothing better than doing that. There’s a lot of fireworks on July 4th, but the real fireworks will be inside at the Wolstein Center.”

On Tiger returning to Cleveland…

“He showed us something we haven’t seen before, but we knew he had it in him. There’s a reason why there’s a belt around his waist and he proved it.”

On Top Rank’s young talent…

“For Tiger Johnson, he’s 17 and 0 coming off his best win, in a division where a lot of champions are not fighting and just talking off the internet, Tiger said I’m going to fight. Put in front of me whoever you want.”

Justin M. Bibb, Cleveland Mayor

On having championship boxing back in Cleveland…

“I feel really excited that we have the world’s youngest champ, defending his title in the great city of Cleveland. I’m excited to showcase that greatness lies in our city – it’s a dream come true as the mayor of this great city.”

On if he has been following Cleveland’s fighters’ careers…

“I remember watching the fight [Abdullah Mason vs. Sam Noakes] last year trying to find it online when you were fighting in the middle east. Cleveland has a long storied history of great boxers and I am excited to spread the excitement around the city as we prepare for July 4th.”

On building fighters in the city of Cleveland…

I think people don’t realize how Cleveland has influenced boxing and the sport of boxing for years, and now people are starting to notice. Especially come July 4th as we not only celebrate 250 years of America, but it’s also Cleveland’s 230th birthday. To the native sons of Cleveland – Abdullah and Tiger – I need you both to give me a win to celebrate Cleveland’s 230th birthday come July 4th.”

Abdullah Mason Returns Home for Lightweight World Title Defense against Joe Cordina July 4 at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center

CLEVELAND (May 5, 2026) — Boxing’s youngest world champion is set to make his first defense in front of a hometown crowd on the 250th anniversary of American independence as part of TNT Sports and DAZN’s inaugural The Fight event, a new monthly live boxing series.

Abdullah Mason will defend his WBO lightweight world title against Welsh former world champion Joe Cordina on Saturday, July 4 at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center.

The Fight: Mason vs. Cordina will be broadcast on TNT and DAZN co-exclusively in the US and on DAZN Worldwide.

In the co-feature, Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington puts his WBC featherweight world title on the line against Mexico’s Rene Palacios.

Additionally, Cleveland native and U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson takes on fellow unbeaten Christopher Guerrero in a 10-round welterweight battle.

“This is a major moment for Abdullah Mason as he makes the first defense of his world title in front of his hometown fans,” said Top Rank President Todd duBoef. “Joe Cordina is a proven former world champion with the Olympic and professional experience to take him into deep waters. With Bruce Carrington defending his crown and Cleveland’s Tiger Johnson returning home as well, each against unbeaten contenders, this will be a special Independence Day celebration for the city and a fitting launch of TNT Sports and DAZN’s The Fightseries.”

Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) rose quickly from prospect to world champion. Following an amateur career of roughly 80 bouts, he debuted at 17 in November 2021. Four years later, he captured the WBO crown by dominating unbeaten Sam Noakes last November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That triumph capped a breakout 2025 that began with a fourth-round stoppage of Manuel Jaimes in February, followed by a sixth-round TKO over Carlos Ornelas in April, and a fifth-round destruction of Namibian veteran Jeremia Nakathila in June.

Mason said, “July 4th is the homecoming that my brothers and I have been anticipating since before we turned pro. I’m ready to experience all of my city’s support in one building, and I have an appetite for smoke. So if you love boxing and you’re ready for some smoke, then the Wolstein on July 4th is the place to be. It’s a cookout at the Wolstein, and the clock is ticking. You’re all invited to your world champion’s first homecoming, and you don’t want to miss it.”

Cordina (19-1, 9 KOs) enters his third lightweight assignment seeking a world title in a second weight class. The 34-year-old scored a highlight reel second-round knockout over Kenichi Ogawa to win the IBF title at 130 pounds in 2022 but was stripped before his first defense due to a hand injury. He regained it with a decision over Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in 2023 before losing it to Anthony Cacace last May following a controversial knockdown after a punch during the break. The 2016 Olympian has since recorded victories over Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz and Gabriel Flores Jr. in Flores’ hometown.

Cordina said, “This is a massive test for me, but this it’s one that I’m more than capable of coming through with flying colors. Abdullah Mason is a very good fighter, and he’s going to do big things in boxing, but I’m going to mess up the homecoming. I’m looking to come over, rip the title away from him, and take it back to the U.K. It’s a massive fight for boxing, and I’m looking to become a three-time, two-weight world champion.”

“This is such a great fight,” said Eddie Hearn, Chairman of Matchroom Sport. “Abdullah is a tremendous talent and a real star for the future, but Joe has been there, done it and got the t-shirt. Joe showed in California that he’s not afraid to fight in hostile territory and that he still has plenty left in the tank at the top level, and this is a massive chance for him to become a two-weight World champion. This is yet another fantastic fight on DAZN made by Top Rank and Matchroom, and this year, the Fourth of July fireworks will be coming from the Welsh Wizard.”

Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs) is Brownsville, Brooklyn’s latest world champion, following a path once traveled by the likes of Mike Tyson and Zab Judah. A four-year pro, his 2025 campaign produced a third-round stoppage of Jose Enrique Vivas in March and a unanimous points verdict over Mateus Heita in July to win the WBC interim title before becoming full champion with a brutal ninth-round stoppage of Carlos Castro in January. Palacios (19-0-1, 10 KOs) is a rugged Mexican contender who earned his first title opportunity with a decision win over common opponent Sulaiman Segawa.

Carrington said, “The Shu Shu Show is coming to Ohio for the first title defense! It’s The Shu World Order!”

Palacios said. “I’m very excited because, thank God, I now have the opportunity to fight for a world title. I’m not going to let this opportunity slip away. I made a promise to my mother that one day I would become a world champion, and I’m going to keep it. I know Carrington is a great fighter, and he’s proven that, but this time he’s facing someone different from what he saw against Sagawa.”

Tiger (17-0, 8 KOs) represented the U.S. at the 2020 Olympics and signed with Top Rank in November 2021. As a super lightweight, he compiled 14 wins before moving up to welterweight last year, where he registered wins over Kendo Castañeda and Tarik Zaina before delivering his most significant result to date, a fourth-round TKO of Nicklaus Flauz in November. Guerrero (16-0, 9 KOs is a Mexican born resident of Montreal, Canada who makes his U.S. debut after going 4-0 with two knockouts in 2025.

Tiger said, “We’re bringing fireworks to the Land of the Heartless. I’ve been waiting to fight at home for years, and I can’t wait to show out on July 4. Cleveland knows what I bring every time I step in the ring, and this is my moment to put my stamp on the city. I’m ready to represent the 216 and let everybody know who the next world champion from Cleveland is going to be.”

Guerrero said, “This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life. It’s long overdue. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to collect a paycheck. I’m here to take what’s mine.”

Undercard action will feature two of Mason’s brothers in separate four-round fights, as Abdurrahman Mason(2-0, 2 KOs) sees action in a lightweight contest and Ibrahim Mason (2-0, 2 KOs) competes in a super featherweight bout.

ERROL SPENCE JR. VS. TIM TSZYU LAS VEGAS PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – May 4, 2026 – Former unified world champion and pound-for-pound great Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. and Australian superstar and former world champion Tim Tszyu went face to face for the first time on Saturday, at a press conference to officially announce their pivotal super welterweight showdown that headlines a PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video taking place Saturday, July 25 (U.S. date and time) from Australia.

This pivotal showdown between all-action fighters will see Spence’s return to the ring from a nearly three-year layoff as he looks to jump right back in the world title picture against Tszyu, who can jump start his attempt to return to world champion status with a win on July 25.

In addition to the PPV being available for purchase on Prime Video, regardless of Prime membership, fans will also be able to continue to access the telecast through traditional cable and satellite outlets, as well as PPV.com.

The event is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, Man Down Promotions and TGB Promotions.

Here is what the fighters had to say Saturday from Las Vegas:

ERROL SPENCE JR.

“Tszyu has been dismissive of me. He’s saying his little things about how he’s gonna retire me. At the end of the day, it’s a war. He’s coming to retire me and take my name. I’m coming to conquer his country. I’ll shake his hand after the fight, but right now it’s game time.

“I’ve got more energy and I’m gonna be mentally and physically better. I know why people will say what they’re gonna say, and I’d say the same if I was on the outside. But we’re gonna be putting on a good show.

“I’m always looking for a high and that’s why I wanted to go into a foreign territory with all these fans going against me. That’s gonna be a great moment.

“Of course there’s a little difficulty getting a rhythm down working with Ronnie Shields for the first time, but once you get that down, everything is good from that point. I feel like a kid again in school learning new tricks of the trade.

“There’s a first time for everything. I’m definitely looking forward to beating him in Australia and disappointing all those people.

“I’m taking it one fight at a time. I’m not mapping out anything. I’m going with the flow and enjoying the whole process. You have to live in the moment.

“I feel mentally sharper right now. This layoff gave me time to reflect a lot and recover. I’ve been boxing for a long time at the top level, ever since the amateurs. I needed this break. Even after my car accident, I never took a break. After the eye injury they told me I couldn’t work out, but I was still walking eight to 10 miles a day trying to keep my weight down. I enjoyed this layoff, because it gave me a lot of clarity. I feel rejuvenated.

“There’s no knock on Tszyu for losing to Sebastian Fundora. Fundora would be a hard opponent for anybody. He’s so tall and now he’s using his distance and his range. Tszyu put on a hard fight and never gave up.”

TIM TSZYU

“The question is, what does Errol Spence Jr. have in the tank after three years off? Our plan is to bring the heat and reintroduce him to the game right away.

“I wouldn’t take this fight if I thought I was gonna lose. If I had a glimpse of that thought, I wouldn’t be here. I’m taking this fight because I’m gonna win.

“I understand facing a volume punching southpaw from facing Fundora. I think Spence will be easier to hit. We’ll have a new game plan this time around and be ready for everything.

“I’m gonna bring it from round one. He’s the one who’s had three years off. I’m not rusty. My wheels are gonna be in motion. I’ll be ready to jump on him.

“My family is 55-0 in Australia, so I think it’s a big advantage. Numbers don’t lie and we’re gonna keep it going. It’s a massive fight in Australia and worldwide.

“I’ve got plenty in the tank. I feel like I’ve learned and experienced a lot in the last few years. Training in different places and fighting unorthodox type of fighters all give me an advantage.

“The biggest advantage to have Jeff Fenech as my trainer is that I’ll be training and fighting in Australia. Stylistically Jeff was an inside fighter who brings the heat and aggression, and that’s what I am. As much as I’ve tried to jab and box, I’m a forward fighting type of guy. I like to bring the heat and that’s what I plan to do in this fight.

“I’ve always been the type of guy who’s been willing to take fights anywhere. They’re calling this one of the biggest fights in Australian boxing history and that means a lot to me to have that type of accomplishment.”

Former unified world champion Yesica Nery Plata has ruled the light flyweight division as WBA and WBC unified world champion. Since turning pro in ?2011, she steadily climbed the ranks, winning the WBC Youth title in 2012 and defending it multiple times before stepping into world-level clashes. In March ?2022, Plata began her title run, dethroning longtime champion Yésica Bopp via split decision to claim the WBA title at 108lbs, ending Bopp’s 13-year reign with strong body work and well?timed left hooks. Her defining moment within the division came in January?2023 in Canada, where she successfully unified the WBA and WBC belts by defeating home favorite Kim Clavel in a fierce ten?round war—dictating the pace to earn a unanimous decision in what many hailed as one of the standout women’s fights of the year. She capped off her dominance with a successful split?decision title defense against undefeated Sarah Bormann in Karlsruhe, Germany in ?December?2023. Following a layoff, Plata return to the ring under the Most Valuable Promotions banner recognized as one of the top pound-for-pound women’s boxers in the world and is currently ranked #4 by the WBC, #6 by the WBO and WBA, and #3 by ESPN at 108lbs.

“I want to thank my fans for their support and for following my career, and most importantly, to my promoter MVP, to Jake Paul, Nakisa Bidarian, and everyone that works for the company for making all of this possible,” said Yesica Nery Plata. “You all know that team Plata is a guarantee for a good show, see you soon!”

Brook Sibrian, from Coachella, California earned the nickname “Mighty” during a national tournament. After becoming a first-generation college graduate and building a career at the Wall Street Journal, Brook discovered the sport through a fitness boxing class at 26 and fell for it immediately. What began as a hobby became a calling, giving her structure, discipline, purpose, and a deeper relationship with God. She compiled a 22-3 amateur record, won two USA Boxing National Championships, and represented El Salvador at the 2023 Central American Games. Early in her career, she trained alongside her idol Román “Chocolatito” González across multiple camps, which accelerated her development and shaped her foundation as an intelligent, high-output pressure fighter and boxer-puncher.

“God is so good! I’m feeling extremely grateful and excited to show the world who this small, but Mighty underdog is,” said Brook Sabrian. “Tune in on Saturday, May 30 on ESPN+ and don’t miss the show! Thank you MVP and my incredible team for making this possible!”

Her accolades include winning gold at the 2015 and 2017 National Junior Olympics, winning the 2018 National Golden Gloves championship, and back-to-back silver medals at the 2018 and 2019 National Junior Olympics. After making her pro debut in 2021–the lone technical draw on her record–she returned to boxing in 2023 and began her rise, winning her next three bouts by TKO. In June 2024, Tellez defeated Hungarian prospect Beata Dudek on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin in Las Vegas. Just three weeks later in July 2024, Tellez successfully outpointed Wendellin Cruz to win the vacant WBC Youth featherweight title by unanimous decision, before dropping down to win the NABF super bantamweight and bantamweight titles later that year. The 22-year-old Tellez, of Irish-Mexican heritage, most recently faced Amanda Serrano for the unified WBA and WBO world titles in January 2026, with Serrano winning by decision. She resides in San Antonio, Texas and is represented by Boxlab Promotions.

Born in El Paso and raised in Northside Houston, Texas by a hard-working Mexican-American family, 24-year-old Miranda Reyes has built her professional career facing some of the sport’s most respected names, including MVP’s unified lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois and MVP’s WBA lightweight world champion Stephanie Han. Reyes turned pro at 17 without an amateur background, guided by former trainer Hector Rocha, whose belief in her talent and style shaped her confidence until his passing from COVID-19 in 2020. Since, Reyes has consistently given world champions tough tests despite limited guidance, including defeating Hall of Famer Jaime Clampitt in 2022 and former world champion Yazmin Rivas in 2023, before challenging Caroline Dubois for the IBO lightweight title at Wembley Stadium in 2024 and now-WBA world champion Stephanie Han later that year. Reyes recently found structure and support in a new team, priming her to fully pursue the career she always knew she was meant to have. She most recently won by UD on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“This is just another fight for me. I’m here to prove that I’m staying at the top of my division,” said Miranda Reyes. “Fighting in my state of Texas again with MVP is an exclamation mark!”

Panatta was selected as a primary sparring partner for undisputed champion Katie Taylor during Taylor’s high-profile camps for the Amanda Serrano mega-fights, including their historic Madison Square Garden bout. Serving as Taylor’s first choice across multiple camps reflects Panatta’s technical quality, toughness, and ability to mirror elite styles with accuracy with championship-level preparation. Panatta speaks English and Spanish in addition to her native Italian. Panatta previously won the WBC Latin featherweight title, challenged for the WBA Gold featherweight title, and competed in Team Combat League as part of the Boston Butchers roster. She most recently challenged Caroline Dubois for the WBC lightweight title on MVP’s Jake vs. Joshua in December 2025.

“I feel very fortunate to have another opportunity with MVP and I’m also grateful to them,” said Camila Panatta. “There are no easy fights, but after the December fight vs Dubois, my vision is clearer than ever. I know I’m going to face a very good opponent, but I’m confident of my own level and what I’ve grown after that fight. It will be a war!”

MVP’s Jocelyn Camarillo is a 3x amateur national champion, former #1-ranked US amateur in the light flyweight division, and a proud training partner for Team USA Youth & Elite. She proudly represents Indio, California as one of the brightest young talents coming out of the Coachella Valley boxing community. Jocelyn grew up watching boxing and developed a natural passion that eventually led her to train at the historic Coachella Valley Boxing Club, where she built a strong amateur foundation and sharpened her skills among some of the region’s best athletes. Known for her speed, accuracy, and high-IQ pressure style, Jocelyn has quickly developed a reputation as a disciplined athlete with true star potential. Both inside and outside the ring, she brings charisma, professionalism, and a growing fanbase that continues to follow her journey. As she enters the next chapter of her career with MVP, standing 5-0 on her pro career, Jocelyn is focused, hungry, and ready to take on bigger challenges.

Yazmin Martínez Jiménez is a professional boxer based in Mexico City. Boxing began as an obligation when she was 14, but over time, Martinez fell in love with the sport and decided to dedicate her life to it. That commitment translated into a strong amateur run of 30 fights with only 2 losses, setting the foundation for her professional career. She is managed by Ignacio Berinstain Rocha and trained by Erick Pérez Miranda. In the ring, Yazmin describes her style as aggressive and pressure-based — always fighting forward.

Iyana “Roxy” Verduzco is an undefeated pro boxer from Los Angeles, California. A skilled boxer-puncher and southpaw, Verduzco is recognized for her high boxing IQ, sharp timing, and quickness, training at Wild Card Boxing Club under coaches Gloria Alvarado and Marvin Somodio. Verduzco began boxing at just four years old and had her first fight at eight, building an exceptional amateur career that included 108 fights. She became a 21x national champion and amateur world champion, qualifying for the 2019 Olympic Trials. Coming from four generations of fighters, Verduzco draws inspiration from her uncle, undefeated kickboxer Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, and her mother, who introduced her to boxing and is her greatest motivation. Outside the ring, Verduzco, a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States, enjoys traveling and reading, owns a coffee truck, and is currently learning piano.

“Fighting under MVP and representing Los Angeles means a lot to me,” said Roxy Verduzco. “To do it alongside some of the top female superstars in the sport makes this moment even bigger. I’m ready to perform.”

Elise Soto is a 20-year-old Poughkeepsie, New York–born fighter defined by discipline, humility, and purpose, with deep Puerto Rican roots passed down through generations on her father’s side and a multicultural heritage shaped by her Mexican and French lineage through her mother. Introduced to boxing by her mother, Soto immediately found her calling despite excelling in other elite sports, committing fully to the art of boxing and the advancement of women in athletics. She began boxing at 16 and quickly rose through the U.S. amateur ranks, competing in five national tournaments, earning four silver medals, and advancing to the Olympic Trials with her mother in her corner. Guided by Amanda Serrano and Jordan Maldonado, she turned professional shortly thereafter and now trains under renowned coach Shaun George alongside Serrano and Maldonado, accelerating her growth in the ring. Outside of boxing, Soto works within her family business, Fitness Superstore USA, and is building her own fitness brand. She is deeply committed to philanthropy, focused on serving youth, individuals with disabilities, including work with the Special Olympics, and underserved communities, and is driven by faith, family, and a belief that boxing is her platform to create lasting impact. She is currently the WBO #1 and IBF #7 contender at 130lbs.

“I’m so blessed and super excited to get back in the ring. I have the absolute best management team who encouraged me to open my own gym and I did. It feels phenomenal to train and prepare in my own gym,” said Elise Soto. “This upcoming fight doesn’t happen without MVP. Being signed with the best company in boxing completes the most amazing team a fighter could have. I’m honored to fight on an amazing card alongside great fighters and on the best network ever on ESPN. Can’t wait to give everyone an exciting fight to watch and showcase for women’s boxing.”

MVP’s undefeated Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro is a 25-year-old rising contender raised in Ridgewood, New York, competed at both the 2020 and 2024 USA Boxing Olympic trials. The gifted Puerto Rican athlete is also a high fashion model, having worked for Versace, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and Polo Ralph Lauren, among others. Chaparro landed a sensational first-round KO win in his pro debut on Most Valuable Prospects 6 in April 2024, before scoring a stunning second-round knockout win on the preliminary card of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in July 2024. He also earned a first-round TKO victory on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 9 in Puerto Rico in October 2024, and knocked out Daijohn Gonzalez on Most Valuable Prospects 13 in June 2025. Chaparro most recently knocked out then-undefeated prospect David Gutierrez on Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“I’m super excited to be back in the ring,” said Alex Chaparro. “El Paso, Texas, I’m coming with skill, power, and one goal—dominate.”

Edward Ulloa Díaz is a professional boxer based in the Bronx, New York. He started boxing at 12, drawn to the sport by its independence: in the ring, everything depends on him. That self-reliance shaped a long amateur career of 52 wins and 12 losses, and it continues to define how he approaches the professional ranks. In the ring, Ulloa describes his style as well-rounded, a highly-adaptable fighter.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I’m happy MVP will let me showcase myself against Chaparro,” said Edward Ulloa. “He is a very good boxer, smart and strong, but I have a lot of experience and nothing he can do will deter me from winning that night.”

MVP’s 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “The Alley Cat” Gueche also joins the card. Fighting out of Long Beach, California, by way of Harbor City, California, Gueche most recently extended his undefeated streak with a UD win over Mario Alberto Diaz Maldonado in March 2026. With his ability to combine pinpoint precision and knockout power, Gueche has solidified his place as one of boxing’s most exciting young talents.

“This is exactly the stage I’ve been working so hard for in camp,” said Alex Gueche. “ESPN, a card stacked with champions, the whole sport watching.  I’m grateful to MVP for the platform, and on Saturday, May 30th I’m coming to El Paso to make sure nobody forgets my name when the lights go up on the headliners.”

San Antonio, Texas prospect Joshua Montoya gave himself the nickname “Spotlight” as a kid, a natural fit for someone who’s always thrived as an entertainer. Friends shortened it to “Spotty”, and the name has stuck ever since. Joshua started in MMA before transitioning to boxing at 15, logging roughly 30 amateur bouts on his way to the professional ranks. In the ring, Joshua has a fast, agile, and quick style built on movement and precision. Outside the ring, he dances, sings, streams, and creates content.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to show why I’m called ‘Spotlight’ on MVP,” said Joshua Montoya. “I’m not only a fighter, I’m an entertainer. I’m putting belt to ass on Saturday, May 30th.”

Nazarena Romero is a former WBA world champion recognized for her aggressive, high-pressure, and grueling fighting style. Romero won the vacant WBA world title in August 2024, defeating Paulette Valenzuela Cuesta by 9th round TKO to claim the belt. Romero lost her world title to Mayelli Flores via split decision in May 2025 in a closely contested bout. She also holds a notable draw against former world champion Erika Cruz, further underscoring her ability to compete at the elite level.

Albina Moldazhanova is a Russian boxer from a small settlement in Siberia called Demyanka. As an adult, she moved to the city of Tyumen, and was selected for the national boxing team. As a member of the national team, she won the Russian Youth championship, won the Russian championship, won the European Youth Championship and later became a silver medalist at the European Championships. In 2025, she earned a medal at the World Championships before turning pro. The 24-year-old now has three pro fights under her belt, with a perfect 3-0, 3 KO record. She finished two of three pro fights to date by knockout, with her opponent retiring on her stool to end the other.

“I have had 3 fights, all of which I finished early,” said Albina Moldazhanova. “I aim to continue my winning streak, demonstrate my strong Siberian character, and prove to myself and to the world that the impossible is possible.”

Claudia Herrera comes to the ring from Jesús María, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The 34-year-old most recently went the distance against Sarah French in March 2026.
