WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 12, 2025) – Tomorrow, Friday, June 13, Joe DeGuardia’s Star
ABOUT JUNE 14 FIGHTS AT WESTCHESTER COUNTY CENTER:
Star Boxing brings championship energy back to the famed historic Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. The Westchester County Center, once a cornerstone of boxing’s golden era, will once again come alive as Joe DeGuardia delivers a thrilling professional boxing card, which blends elite-level talent with throwback-style rivalries reminiscent of the sport’s glory days.
“We are recreating this on June 14. We have 50/50 matchups in the title fight
between Chance against Perez, and the exciting O’Rourke vs Sylla battle.
Plus, we have the neighborhood battles like we have in Maietta against Burke. There
are not many cards like this today and I commend these fighters for stepping up, taking
a risk, and not waiting for years to fight ‘real fights.’ This is great for fans and for
fighters’ development as adversity makes better fighters. This is how you hone
character and ultimate rewards of even bigger fights down the line,” said Star Boxing CEO,
?Joe DeGuardia.
Rajon Chance vs. Yan Carlos Perez…
In a featured title fight, Rajon Chance takes on Yan Carlos Perez in a Super-Bantamweight bout scheduled for 10-rounds for the NBA Title. Rajon ‘Weezy’ Chance, 24, an accomplished slick boxer, has a record of 8-1-1 with four knockouts. The five-year pro, also known as
‘Picasso’, was a top US Amateur and holds a win over previously and draw Elon Dejesus. Chance’s only blemish was a highly controversial split decision loss to undefeated Travon Lawson. Chance faces the toughest fight of his career against knockout artist Yan Carlos Perez,
of the Dominican Republic. Perez, brings in an undefeated record of 6-0 with five
knockouts. The exciting banger already has wins over tough competition and already defeated New York’s Ronny Reyes (4-1) and Jose Santoya (6-1). He iIs coming off a first round stoppage over 38-fight veteran Merito Sabillo on May 3, 2025.
Ryan O’Rourke vs. Boubacar Sylla…
Another thrilling matchup features undefeated Ryan O’Rourke (12-0, 3 KO) of Dublin, Ireland against Boubacar Sylla (12-1, 7 KO) in a welterweight bout scheduled for eight-rounds.
O’Rourke, 26 of Dublin, Ireland spent the early part of his career fighting in Europe
before coming stateside and racking up four wins in America, which was highlighted by
a victory over Faycal Rezkalah (6-1). Sylla of Cincinnatti is a nine-year pro, who holds a victory over previously undefeated Marlon Brown (7-0), and was a highly regarded amateur.
Harley Burke vs. Louis Maietta…
For locals, in perhaps the most highly anticipated fight of the night, Yonkers native Harley Burke risks his undefeated record (9-0, 7 KO’s), when he takes on tough Louis Maietta in a six-round super-middleweight fight.
Burke, has a knockout win over previously undefeated Raekwon Williams, and is coming off a unanimous decision over Tevin Terrance on November 23, 2024 in Huntington, New York, one of only two fights where the knockout artist has had to go the distance. FDNY Fireman, Louis Maietta of the Bronx, is 6-4-2 with two knockouts. The 30-year-old Maietta, is also a fan favorite and has developed well over the past year. He has won three straight and stopped Santiago Torra on January 26th in Colombia. Like Burke, Maietta is expected to bring a big contingency of fans. It will be the Yonkers vs Bronx, Irish vs Italian and Laborer vs Fireman. This fight is what epitomizes the glory days of local boxing when fans are just as vested outside the ring as the fighters are inside the ring.
Rodrigo Marte vs. Edwin Rodriguez…
Rodrigo Marte (6-0, 5 KO) of the Dominican Republic is being heralded as a star in
the making. Marte takes on tough veteran Edwin Rodriguez (12-9-2, 5 K0) of
Juna Diaz, Puerto Rico in a eight-round super bantamweight fight.
Austin Cassese vs. Eduardo Monreal…
Marist College graduate, Austin ‘All American’ Cassese (3-0, 3 KO) of Shrub Oak,
NY fights Eduardo Monreal (1-2, 1 KO) of El Paso, Texas in a four-round super
welterweight fight.
Sharif One (Pro-Debut)…
Sharif One of Bronx, NY makes his pro debut against Austin Spivey in a four-round
super welterweight bout. Sharif is a math teacher at the Eagle Academy and has a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Buffalo and a Master’s degree from NY’s Relay Graduate School. He was an accomplished amateur boxer, winning the USIBA National Championship as a college athlete. His accomplishments certainly make him a leader and proud representative of the Bronx and his Cote d’Ivoire roots.

“PROSPECTS COLLIDE” TAKES CENTER STAGE
WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 14, 2025) – The anticipation has reached a boiling point as Star Boxing brings the fire back to the Westchester County Center TONIGHT Saturday, June 14, with its hard-hitting fight card, “Prospects Collide.” The card features a high-stakes blend of rising talent, city rivalries, and throwback grit—an event tailor-made for fight fans hungry for real action.
Earlier this week, the fight world got a taste of what’s to come during a packed press conference at Empire Harley-Davidson in New Rochelle, where fighters traded words, staredowns, and predictions. The event was drenched in energy as press, fans, and industry insiders gathered among steel and chrome for a raw preview of Saturday’s matchups.
At the heart of the event is the Super-Bantamweight NBA Title showdown between boxing stylist Rajon “Picasso” Chance and undefeated power-puncher Yan Carlos “El Baka” Perez of the Dominican Republic. With both fighters eager to prove themselves on the big stage, this boxer-vs-brawler clash promises fireworks.
“I like the boxer vs. puncher theme… there’s only one way to find out who can really punch,” said Chance.
“I’m ready to show the best version of myself,” Perez calmly responded, confidence in his voice and knockout power in his hands.
Local bragging rights will also be on the line in a classic borough battle between Yonkers and the Bronx. In this battle amongst fan-favorites, undefeated Irish-American Harley Burke takes on tought Bronx Firefighter Louis Maietta, in a six-round Super Middleweight bout that has a throwback vibe that feels more personal than promotional.
“Irish vs. Italian. Yonkers vs. Bronx. This fight sells itself,” Burke declared.
“We’re putting on a hell of a show Saturday night,” Maietta fired back.
Also featured is Austin “All-American” Cassese of Shrub Oak, NY, a Marist College grad, who is seeking another highlight-reel finish in front of a hometown crowd. Cassese takes on Eduardo Monrreal in a scheduled four-rounder.
In another compelling 50/50 bout, Ireland’s unbeaten Ryan O’Rourke (12-0, 3 KO) squares off with tough Cincinnati native Boubacar Sylla (12-1, 7 KO) in a Welterweight clash that could steal the show.
Making his pro debut is Bronx math teacher and USIBA National Champion Sharif One, a proud Ivorian-American stepping into the professional ranks against Kevin Hill in a four-round Super Welterweight bout. A natural leader inside and outside the ring, One’s mix of brains and brawn makes him one to watch.
Promoter Joe DeGuardia, President of Star Boxing, sees the card as a throwback to boxing’s golden era—real fights, real risks, and fighters chasing greatness the hard way.
“This is the kind of card boxing needs,” said DeGuardia. “Great matches, storylines and historic ties to the old days. Matchups where pride, progression, and passion are all on the line in front of excited, vested fans.”
The event is being held in proud collaboration with Empire Harley-Davidson, which hosted the week’s press conference and continues to support community-centered entertainment rooted in tradition and toughness.
“This partnership is just the beginning,” said Empire GM Kyle Hildebrand. “We’ll be there in full force Saturday night. This is exactly the kind of energy we want to be part of.”

Mbilli vs Sulecki: 10-bout, 4-championship card set for June 27 in Quebec City
MONTREAL, JUNE 13, 2025 — It’s payback time for Steven Butler. Jose de Jesus Macias is heading to Quebec with plans to shock “Bang Bang” once again on June 27. The fight will serve as the co-main event on a stacked 10-bout card featuring four championship fights, headlined by the WBC Interim World Super Middleweight Title bout between #1 world contender Christian Mbilli and Maciej Sulecki, live at Videotron Centre in Quebec City.
“After two straight training camps, I’m not just hungry—I’m enraged. It’s not Erik Bazinyan, but it’s even better; Macias and I have unfinished business. I kept things polite for local fights. But this is a rematch—time for violence. I’m getting my revenge on June 27,” declared two-time world title challenger Steven Butler.
Montreal’s Steven Butler (35-5-1, 29 KOs) and Jose de Jesus Macias (29-13-4, 15 KOs) meet again four years after Macias’ swift victory. Butler is out to reverse the result, while Macias believes history will repeat itself.
“I’m happy to return to Quebec—but you really should stop inviting me! People wanted to see Lafrenière vs. Butler back in the day, and I beaten both. Butler’s going down again on June 27, and then I’ll get my revenge on Bazinyan,” said Macias, stepping in for the injured Erik Bazinyan, and coming off a win last November, just like Butler.
But before the rematch comes war: in a special heavyweight attraction between two knockout artists with over 90% KO ratios, Quebec’s own by way of Russia, Arslanbek ‘The Lion’ Makhmudov (19-2, 18 KOs) will take on Ontario’s adopted Ricardo ‘Big 12’ Brown (12-0, 11 KOs). The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds—but the stats suggest a much shorter story…
“He talked about slaying the Lion when the fight was announced. Funny, he was very polite at the face-off. But in the ring, the politeness ends. I’ll be hunting—and this will be war,” warned Makhmudov.
With an unusually deep lineup, the June 27 gala will feature three title fights before the three main attractionseven begin. In a bmatchup many experts call a “50/50,” Leïla Beaudoin (12-1, 1 KO) will defend her WBO International Super Featherweight Title for the first time against world #2 contender Elhem Mekhaled (17-3, 3 KOs).
Colombian sensation Jhon Orobio (13-0, 11 KOs) will face a triple first: his Quebec City debut, his first 10-round fight, and his first title shot, battling for the WBC Continental Americas title at 140 lbs against seasoned Slovakian veteran Zsolt Osadan (27-3-1, 17 KOs).
Top-15 world-ranked welterweight Christopher Guerrero (14-0, 8 KOs) will put his WBC Continental title on the line against former international champion Sandy Messaoud (20-8, 1 KO). Many believe this could be the fight of the night—Guerrero’s coach among them.
“A tall southpaw with an unorthodox style—he gives everyone trouble. His fights are always close, no matter the result. That’s exactly why we picked him. I expect the toughest fight of Chris’s career,” said Giuseppe Moffa.
Also on the card: Wilkens Mathieu (13-0, 9 KOs), Quebec’s hometown pride, returns for an 8-rounder against French champion Adagio McDonald (8-1, 6 KOs). Luis Santana (13-0, 6 KOs) of Montreal will face Uruguay’s heavy-hitter and former Steve Claggett opponent Eduardo Estela (17-4, 12 KOs) in his first scheduled 10-round bout. Canadian Olympian Wyatt Sanford (2-0, 2 KOs) will take on Israeli veteran Igor Lazarev (9-4, 3 KOs) in his first 6-rounder. Opening the night, rising star Moreno “The Soldier” Fendero (11-0, 9 KOs) steps up in competition to face the rugged Centenario veteran Billi Facundo Godoy (41-8, 20 KOs), nicknamed “El Niño.”
Tickets for #MbilliSulecki, set for June 27 at Videotron Centre, are still available (HERE) via Ticketmaster. Photos from Christian Mbilli’s recent fights and the undercard boxers are also available (HERE).

Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz and Top Lightweight Contender Edwin De Los Santos Part Ways Amicably
June 13, 2025 – Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has parted ways amicably with top lightweight contender Edwin De Los Santos and given him his unconditional release.
Last Saturday, June 7, The Dominican Republic’s De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) saw his WBO Championship challenge against Keyshawn Davis canceled when Davis weighed in 4.3 lbs. overweight. Citing concerns for his fighter’s health, Lewkowicz made the final call to cancel the nationally televised main event.
De Los Santos also challenged Shakur Stevenson in November 2023.
Lewkowicz says he bears De Los Santos no ill will and wishes him the best for the rest of his promising career.
“Edwin is a warrior, and I support him and still consider him a personal friend,” said Lewkowicz of the offensively gifted southpaw. “There is no animosity between us. What happened last week was very unfortunate. I did what I thought was best, but Edwin won’t let his fighting spirit agree, so I gave him his release. I know he will go on to do great things in the ring and become a world champion. I will still be cheering for him to do so and he can always come to me for advice.”

VIDEO: Richardson Hitchins vs George Kambosos | *HEATED* Final Press Conference
QUOTES FROM FINAL RICHARDSON HITCHINS VS. GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR. PRESS CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 12, 2025 – Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos Jr. will clash in a blockbuster IBF Junior Welterweight Title fight from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday, June 14, live worldwide on DAZN.
Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) headlines his first Madison Square Garden card defending his IBF Junior Welterweight Title, under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. This fight will be the Brooklyn native’s first defense of the title he won in December defeating Liam Paro in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Kambosos Jr. (22-3, 10 KOs) won a unanimous decision victory over Jake Wyllie in March in his hometown of Sydney, Australia. Kambosos, a former IBF, WBA, and WBO Lightweight Champion, makes his return to Madison Square Garden, where he holds an undefeated record (2-0), having defeated Mickey Bey in 2019 and Teofimo Lopez in 2021.
Andy Cruz will face Hironori Mishiro in an Eliminator for the IBF World Lightweight Title, while Zaquin Moses, coming off his second round knockout at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City steps back into the ring for his fourth professional fight.
This is what they said ahead of their respective fights.
EDDIE HEARN
“What a moment, what a building, what an occasion for boxing at Madison Square Garden in New York. The mecca of boxing. This Saturday night live and exclusive on DAZN around the world. We have a tremendous World Championship main event with Richardson Hitchins, who will make his New York return as World Champion, looking to make a statement in the division and propel himself to superstardom in the sport facing the very live underdog who dethroned Teofimo Lopez in the same building a couple of years ago to become the undisputed champion, George Kambosos. He is looking for one of the biggest wins in Australian boxing and trying to become a two-division world champion.”
“We have an incredible undercard and when I look at the fighters we represent I have never been more excited about the future of the sport. Matchroom Boxing, the only global promotional company in the world has by far the best roster in the sport, but it’s the young ones you are going to see dominate the sport moving forward. It’s an opportunity for these guys to fight at the Mecca of boxing like Adam Maca making his professional debut. Nishant Dev who is going to completely change the face of boxing in India. Zaquin Moses who is Shakur’s (Stevenson) cousin and the future of American boxing. Teremoana Teremoana with seven wins and seven knockouts and a future world champion. This man to my right [Andy Cruz] is one of the greatest amateurs of our generation as a two-time Olympic gold medalist.”
RICHARDSON HITCHINS
“First off, I just want to thank God for being here. All this actually becoming true because I know the work that I put in, it’s been happening years before I was signed with you (Matchroom) – you (Eddie Hearn) helped save my career and I want to give a personal thank you. You brought structure back into my career and I said it over and over my manager kept calling, my coach Lenny Wilson, Scooter strength conditioning, Whitey my manager. This is what I worked for my whole life this whole everything. I remember coming to the Garden and watching Teofimo and Kambosos compete and I looked and I said I can beat both of those guys. Slowly but surely I said when I get my opportunity I’ll be world champion. I’ll bring the championship back to New York because you know New York has had a lot of big fights through the years. But New York hasn’t had its own, I want to say for 8-10 years now, brought a championship back home and competed. You know they have somebody they could be behind and I’m glad I’m thankful to God that I’m that guy.”
“As far as George Kambosos, a lot of people want to say that – you know when they fight me a lot of guys game plan to go forward, hit him in the shoulder, break him down. That’s every guy’s f**cking game plan. I think that George Kambosos is at this level because obviously he’s got boxing skills. That’s what f**cked Teofimo up. Teofimo came at him as if he was just a regular guy and you know he ran into his face. Saturday night I’ll be right in front of him all night long and if he’s confident in himself, they say I’m easy work. I know for sure I’m confident in myself, I’ve been saying it since the face off. I want to bet 50 thousand. His dad said he got the bet, so hold up, he said bring the money. The money’s here, hold up [Richardson pulls out $50k].”
“You’re fighting a real New Yorker now, and you’ll see me calm and collected and ready. And this is why I hate the whole media they’re trying to write me off about my last fight with Liam Paro, everybody said I was going to lose the fight. Show you a lot of people don’t know about boxing – like I said now they want to make me the favorite. They should have put me as an underdog so I could really shock the world again. He’s a bum, he’s still living off the Teofimo win.”
“Dominating fashion – like I said Saturday night I won’t be going nowhere, I’ll be right in front of him. Bill Haney wants to say don’t run, get knocked the f*ck out. I ain’t f**cking Devin Haney I’ll be right in front of him all night punching this guy. I’m going to be right there all night. I worry about the whole boxing world. This whole sport is my shit.”
GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR
“As you know, I love that underdog role, but there are no maybes, I’m doing this. There’s no fake stuff. I’m going to this home in a familiar place where I’m 2-0 already. This is the trifecta. Like Lenny said, the talk is finished and we don’t need to sit and talk. I’m coming here as the underdog and I’m coming here to win this fight. You have seen it before and I’m here to win this fight; whatever it takes there is no plan B.
“He’s the one who is making statements and saying he’s going to knock me out. We have our plans and have worked extremely hard in training camp and who knows maybe I will learn from him and run the whole fight. You know I can box and fight and dictate the fight to do whatever it takes. I can get knocked down and get back up again to win a championship fight. I’ve seen it all at the highest level and have been at the pinnacle and he isn’t. When you fight the best and beat the best and lose to the best you’re still here. This warrior is still here back at his favorite home grounds to do the trifecta in a Matchroom show and I never lost in America or a Matchroom show.”
LENNY WILSON
“I was listening to Mr. DiBella and Lou is right. I’ve been seeing him for quite some time and remember seeing him at Hammerstein Ballroom days when we were sneaking in with the bands. One of the most important things he said was that he remembers Richardson Hitchins since he was a kid and has been around boxing all his life. A lot of people don’t realize that champions are not made in the ring but through the heart, dedication, determination, motivation and all those things that forges a champion. Hitchins did everything possible to prepare for this fight and I tip my hat to Kambosos and his father for taking this fight. These are the fights Hitchins needs so he can solidify his legacy. I know for a fact that on Saturday night they will be saying, “And still the IBF Champion of the World, Richardson Hitchins.”
“I believe that the talk is over. June 14th is the day that people are going to see who Richardson Hitchins really is. They watch his fights and see some mistakes but they don’t realize that Hitchins is always evolving in the ring. This is his time and our time and Kambosos’ time where he’s about to be out of here. So I tip my hat to Kambosos so the world can see who Richardson Hitchins really is.”
JIM KAMBOSOS
“It’s great to be back here especially where George has had success twice. I’ve got that bulldog about me because the simple thing is I’m a manager and a father. I fight for my fighters and I work for my fighters. George Kambosos as much as he’s my son I also take care of his business, so when George is in a fight and same with my other fighters I’m in bulldog mode as well because I go to every training camp and see every sparring session and I’m part of the team. Right now, George is in fight mode and I’m in fight mode too. Hope Hitchins doesn’t have a dad here because I have a thing about dads. Maybe we should start a dad competition to make a lot of money out of that.
“This is great and we are here to win and on Saturday night George Kambsos is going to show the world that Madison Square Garden is favorite home out of Australia. We had to take George out of his comfort zone and straight out of the Sydney show we already put a plan together for George to be based in Montreal and training in big gyms with big names. We flew in sparring partners from across the world and I can tell you one thing, the guys we use to work with are a lot faster and trickier with better footwork than George is going to face on Saturday night. If George can handle that business then Hitchins is going to be easy work.”
ANDY CRUZ
“First off, I want to say thank you to everyone that is here present supporting this great event here on Saturday night. I’m more than ready for this opportunity for this fight and I’m going to give everything and take full advantage of it.”
“In terms of my “son” Keyshawn Davis he needs to learn the lessons that his father taught him. The fans that he let down and ended up losing his title without actually fighting, but my focus is on the fight Saturday night with Mishiro who is a great fighter. I’m prepared for whatever comes following the fight.”
HIRONORI MISHIRO
“This fight is going to be a life changing opportunity for me. I absolutely know how good of a fighter he [Andy Cruz] is but I’m not here to just fight, I’m here to win. I came all the way from Japan to show the world that Japanese fighters are built different.”
TEREMOANA TEREMOANA
“First I just want to say greetings to you all in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. It’s such a blessing being here today in MSG and I look forward to this challenge like you said. There’s a lot of people who have been saying I’ve been fighting tomato cans and stuff like that. So I’m really glad that we’ve got a challenge in front of me. That’s what I live for you know. I just want to be here and fight the best. One by one I want to go up and destroy everyone and unfortunately for this guy June 14, he’s going to realize that I’m the next up and coming great and I’m looking forward to getting in the room with you mate.”
“You know MSG is every fighter’s dream, you want to fight here in front of the big lights. For me it’s just my goal to be world champion. I just want to prove that I’m the best. That if anyone steps in the ring I’ll get through them. And yeah I’m so glad I got a challenge. I look forward to it, because a lot of people have been seeing the skill that I possess and I’m pretty sure this fella here he’ll bring it out of me and I’m looking forward to it.”
“Yeah, that’s the plan, this is a whole new year with Australian boxing. Like as you can see…champions of the world just broke old mates draw on the weekend, justice unfortunately fell short. That’s heavyweight boxing you know. All it takes is one punch. That’s why I love it, all it takes is one punch, you just gotta prove you’re the best. I’m here to prove I’m the best and one by one I’ll go all the way to the top. Anyone who’s in my way they can get it.”
ALEEM WHITFIELD
“Yeah I’m super ready, you know what I’m saying. I respect him a little bit – he’s doing his thing. I take my hat off to him, you understand? But what people don’t know is that I’ve been boxing since I was six years old. I was No. 2 as an amateur, I was No. 2 in the world – in the USA when I was an amatuer. The only thing different is he got a little shine. I’m from a little town that doesn’t get any shine so it’s my time. I came here for all the smoke you know, the only thing on my mind right now is the beast is going to eat, y’all don’t know about me but I’m going to show you.”
“I started boxing when I was six years old, you know what I’m saying? I was No. 2 in the country in 2008, 2009. I traveled to Dublin, Ireland, with the USA team. I even shot 165 for Sean Porter. People don’t know me, I was swept under the rug but I didn’t get on the platform like everybody else did, you know what I’m saying. I was kind of swept under the rug and it was hard for me to get where I’m at, but I’m here. I’m ready to eat. I’m ready.”
“I’ve been fighting heavy weights since I was a young buck so it ain’t nothing to me. I fought everybody, you know what I’m saying, that’s nothing to me. I’m 6’2 and a beast. I appreciate the opportunity, you know. God’s got opportunities for everybody you know what I mean. So I appreciate it.”
ZAQUIN MOSES
“I mean for sure, I mean without God none of this would be possible so I want to thank God before anything. But I’m back, I’m back in action Saturday. It’s another opportunity to be under the lights, it’s another opportunity to show my skills and I can’t wait.”
“For sure, I’m enjoying it right now, I’m having fun. I’m loving the lights, I work hard. I want a lot too, I do feel like I said this last time, but I do feel like I am the best prospect in boxing. I do feel like they don’t talk about me enough. They just talk about me as Shakur’s cousin, but I am Zaquin Moses, I am one of the best prospects coming up. And Saturday I can’t wait to show it and I can’t wait to shine.”
PABLO VALDEZ
“First of all I want to thank God for this opportunity. He’s a little quiet, he was talking a lot of shit on social media. But no disrespect to these fighters here. You got amazing talent here, but no one’s coming to see your fighters, they’re coming to see me and Richardson man. We are the main event. No disrespect. I’m the ticket seller, this is my city. I’m king of NY. And you said that I’m old and that Dominicans can’t fight.]”
“If he stays in the middle of the ring and fights with me, he’s getting knocked out. If he runs we’re still going to get the victory which I know he’s going to run after he feels my power.”
“I’m excited man, I train with the best, I got the best team man, shoutout to Gaby Starks, Sherry Yona, Nirmal, Richardson – ask him who gave him the sparring. I’m the one who’s helping him spar. I’m going to tell you something – I need you to believe this. 20 years back, you take 20 years away from me and I’ll be your Canelo. I believe I’ll be your Canelo. And I’ll make you believe that this Saturday. Why I believe the spotlight, why I love to fight and why I made this. And everybody knows I went to prison – if I don’t go to prison I will be beating everybody up in this weight class, promise you that.”
“Tell his team to stay in the middle of the ring and fight with me and don’t run. I’m from the Dominican Republic. I’ve got massive nuts.”
CESAR DIAZ
“Firstly I want to say thanks all for being present here. To be honest I’ve had a really good training camp going into this fight and we’re coming in extremely well prepared. I’ve seen a lot of his fights and I don’t believe we have too much to worry about. So I believe I can put on a great show on Saturday night.”
“Listen, you know, I’ve been fighting for many years. I’ve travelled, I’ve fought under pressure, I’m completely ready for Saturday night and I hope he’s ready so we can put on a show here in MSG. I’ve got nothing to lose going into this fight. I’m going to go in from the very first round looking for that knockout. One of us is going to fall in this. I’m going to f**k you up.”
NISHANT DEV
“Every athlete has a dream to fight in Las Vegas, Big Arena and Madison Square Garden. It was a great pro debut on January 25th and I’m looking forward to Madison Square Garden taking over to win hearts.”
“ I just have something special inside of me, I am a good boxer but if something comes from the outside I go for the knockout – I’m going to use the same thing and perform. I’m not going to look for the knockout, but I’m going to show my skills.”
“I want to be active after every fight and I’m really excited when I hear that Turki Al-Sheikh says my name to Canelo. Back in India, people are so excited to see me and they keep commenting on my posts and keep DMing me saying ‘when are you going to fight in India?’ So I told them to be patient – good things will come and we will soon fight in India. Right now I’m busy trying to win the hearts of the USA, and then I’m going to fight in India.”
ADAM MACA
“Obviously being on this card MSG shows what my manager thinks of me. It’s my time to turn up so I’m going to show everyone what I can do. I think boxing fans want to see knockouts and exciting fights.”
July 26: Rohan Polanco-Quinton Randall Welterweight Showdown Tops Xander Zayas-Jorge Garcia Undercard at The Theater at Madison Square Garden
NEW YORK (June 12, 2025) — Fast-rising Dominican welterweight Rohan Polanco returns to action in a 10-rounder against crafty veteran Quinton Randall on Saturday, July 26, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Polanco will be joined on the undercard by his countryman, featherweight knockout artist Yan Santana, who will make his NYC debut in a 10-rounder versus Mexican former world title challenger Aaron Alameda.
Polanco-Randall and Santana-Alameda will be part of the ESPN+-streamed undercard before the ESPN-televised tripleheader (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) headlined by the vacant WBO junior middleweight world title fight between Xander Zayas and Jorge Garcia.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Zanfer Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions, tickets are ON SALE NOW via Ticketmaster.com.
Polanco (16-0, 10 KOs) is currently ranked No. 7 by the WBO, a ranking he earned on the strength of May’s shutout decision over Fabian Maidana in Las Vegas. He represented his homeland at the Tokyo Olympics and is now poised to carry his nation’s flag in the paid ranks. Polanco trains with Hector Bermudez in Springfield, Massachusetts, and was 8-0 before signing with Top Rank in 2023. He went 3-0 in 2024 before kicking off his 2025 campaign in February with a second-round knockout of Puerto Rico’s Jean Carlos Torres. Randall (15-2-1, 3 KOs), from Houston, Texas, is 2-1 since a 2023 decision loss to Brian Norman Jr. on a Top Rank on ESPN bill.
Santana (14-0, 12 KOs), who is co-promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions, spent much of his early career fighting in Cotto’s homeland of Puerto Rico. The 25-year-old appeared on his first Top Rank card last June, grinding down Brandon Valdes en route to a unanimous decision. He last fought in April in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, winning all 10 rounds against Mexico’s Edwin Palomares. Alameda (30-2, 17 KOs) dropped a unanimous decision to Luis Nery in 2020 for the WBC junior featherweight world title. He has won five straight, four by stoppage, since a 2021 decision loss to Angelo Leo.
In other ESPN+ streamed undercard action:
- Unbeaten heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov (15-0, 14 KOs), a two-time Olympic heavyweight for Uzbekistan, will make his first stateside appearance in nearly two years when he battles Italy’s Gianmarco Cardillo (12-1-2, 2 KOs) in a scheduled 10-rounder. Jalolov dominated the super heavyweight bracket at the 2024 Paris Olympics and came back to the pro ranks in April with a decision over Ihor Shevadzutskyi.
- Emerging junior bantamweight Steven “Kid Dynamite” Navarro (6-0, 5 KOs), from Inglewood, California, will fight in his second scheduled eight-rounder against Cristopher Rios (11-2, 7 KOs). Navarro has been on the fast track to contention since turning pro last April with a sixth-round stoppage over Jose Lopez.

Also joining the preliminary card is Golden Boy’s undefeated rising star Victor Morales (20-0-1, 10 KOs) in a 10-round super featherweight bout vs. former WBA super featherweight world champion Renee Alvarado (34-16, 22 KOs). MVP’s 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “Alley Cat” Gueche (7-0, 5 KOs) also joins the preliminary card vs. American powerhouse and 4x US national amateur champion Vincent “The Beast” Avina (8-1-1, 7 KOs) in an 8-round bantamweight bout at 118 lbs. The preliminary card will also feature Golden Boy’s undefeated former Team USA member Joel Iriarte (7-0, 7 KOs) vs. Tanzanian prospect Yusuph “Mr. Mwanza” Metu (11-2, 8 KOs) in a 8-round welterweight bout. Golden Boy’s WBA #1 contender and North America continental champion and East Los Angeles native John “Scrappy“ Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs) will join the preliminary card in a 10-round super flyweight bout at 115lbs. A talented amateur, Ramirez became a two-time Sugar Bert national champion and took home the Regional Golden Gloves title and Southern California State title in 2018. Ramirez, known for his crowd-pleasing style and relentless work ethic, trains out of Brickhouse Boxing Club in Los Angeles under the guidance of renowned coach Julian Chua and alongside Golden Boy’s Mexican WBO & WBA unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto ”Zurdo” Ramirez. Most recently, in December 2024, he secured a dominant unanimous decision win over Ephraim Bui. His opponent on Saturday, June 28, will be announced at a later date.
Hailing from Vancouver, Washington, Golden Boy’s undefeated rising star Victor “El Tornado” Morales Jr. (20-0-1, 10 KOs) joins the preliminary card following a dominant TKO win over Jose Ivan Guardado Ortiz in December 2024. With impressive knockout power and an unblemished record, Morales Jr. continues to solidify his status as one of the division’s most dangerous and promising contenders. Managua, Nicaragua’s former WBA super featherweight world champion, Renee Alvarado (34-16, 22 KOs), will look to give Morales Jr. his first loss in their 10-round super featherweight bout at 130lbs on June 28th as he aims to showcase his talent on the global stage. Alvarado last stepped into the ring in April 2025 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Geo Lopez.
MVP’s 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “Alley Cat” Gueche (7-0, 5 KOs) also joins the preliminary card to face American powerhouse and 4x US national amateur champion Vincent “The Beast” Avina (8-1-1, 7 KOs) in an 8-round bantamweight bout at 118lbs. Fighting out of Long Beach, California, by way of Harbor City, California, Gueche most recently extended his undefeated streak with a dominant stoppage of veteran Lito Dante in January 2025. With his ability to combine pinpoint precision and knockout power, Gueche has solidified his place as one of boxing’s most exciting young talents. Avina, boasting an 87.5% knockout rate, will look to derail Gueche’s momentum and further establish himself as a top-tier prospect.
Golden Boy’s undefeated former Team USA member, Joel Iriarte (7-0, 7 KOs), returns to action on the preliminary card in a 8-round 147lb welterweight showdown against Tanzanian prospect Yusuph “Mr. Mwanza” Metu (11-2, 8 KOs). Since turning professional in March 2024, he has made a dominant impression, finishing every opponent in two rounds or less. His most recent outing against Marcos Leonardo Jimenez, his first time fighting eight rounds, earned him the WBA continental gold welterweight title. Facing him from Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, by way of Mwanza, Tanzania, will be Metu, who enters his second fight ever in the United States.
“MVP is proud to deliver one of the most stacked preliminary cards in recent memory, featuring a mix of rising stars, world-class talent, and champion pedigree,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions. “From top-tier prospects like MVP’s own Alexander Gueche, and Joel Iriarte to proven names like #1 WBA contender John ‘Scrappy’ Ramirez and Victor Morales Jr., Saturday, June 28 promises nonstop action from the opening bell. From start to finish, fans are in for an unforgettable night.”
Topping MVP’s pay-per-view card on DAZN will be MVP’s international superstar Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) vs. Mexico’s former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (54-6-1, 34 KOs) as they face off in a 10-round blockbuster main event at 200lbs on Saturday, June 28. The co-main event will feature a 12-round unified cruiserweight championship bout between Golden Boy’s Mexican WBO & WBA unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs) vs. Cuba’s former IBF & WBA cruiserweight world champion and WBA mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticós (27-2, 25 KOs). Headlining the preliminary card is former UFC bantamweight champion and Boxrec’s #2 greatest pound-for-pound fighter of all time, Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm (33-2-3, 9 KOs) as she makes her long-awaited return to the ring to face Mexico’s undefeated rising prospect Yolanda “Pitayita” Vega (10-0, 1 KO) in a 10-round lightweight bout contested over two-minute rounds. Holm and Vega each signed with MVP in May 2025 ahead of their fight announcement and faceoff at the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. preview press conference. Mosquea and García Set to Battle for WBA Ibero-America Title in Lyon
This June 12 in Lyon, France, undefeated Dominican standout Leonardo Mosquea (16-0, 9 KOs) will square off against Argentina’s Iván Gabriel García (10-3-1) for the WBA Ibero-America super middleweight title in a bout that promises fireworks and high stakes.
Mosquea, who fights out of France but was born in the Dominican Republic, has quickly made a name for himself as a rising force in the 168-pound division. Known for his aggressive style and explosive power, the unbeaten contender most recently turned heads with a convincing win over Cheavon Clarke, further cementing his reputation as one of the most promising super middleweights on the European-Latin American circuit.
Standing in his way is Iván García—a seasoned Argentine warrior looking to spoil the party and hand Mosquea his first professional loss. García brings grit, experience, and a fearless approach into the ring. His latest outing, a solid win, earned him this title shot and the chance to make a major statement on foreign soil.
The bout is part of a card featuring a mix of European and Latin American talent, with Lyon set to host a night of high-octane action. With the WBA Ibero-America belt on the line, both fighters know the implications a win could have for their future in the division. It’s a classic clash of power versus technique—only one man will walk away with the title strapped around his waist.

In the co-feature, undefeated Japanese prodigy Sora Tanaka (3-0, 3 KOs) steps up to 12 rounds in just his fourth pro fight against veteran Takeru Kobata (14-7-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant OPBF welterweight title. He kept building with a string of stateside victories, including five stoppages in his home state, before signing with Top Rank in early 2023. A year later, he faced Giovani Santillan for the vacant interim title and silenced the San Diego faithful with a statement-making 10th-round knockout. Three months later, he was elevated to full champion and returned in March to dispatch Puerto Rican puncher Derrieck Cuevas in three rounds. Sasaki (19-1-1, 17 KOs) is undefeated as a welterweight, having picked up nine wins and seven knockouts since the only defeat on his resume. He claimed the WBO Asia Pacific title in January 2023 with a one-round destruction of Ryota Toyoshima. He defended it five times, including wins via the fast route over Joe Noynay and Qamil Balla in 2024. In January, he went 12 rounds for the first time, decisioning Shoki Sakai on the Naoya Inoue-Ye Joon Kim undercard. In additional undercard action: In the first fight on the ESPN+ stream, Filipino southpaw Cristian Araneta (25-2, 20 KOs) and Thailand’s Thanongsak Simsri (38-1, 34 KOs) collide for the vacant IBF junior flyweight world title. Araneta enters the bout riding a six-fight win streak, while Simsri looks to build on 14 straight victories since his lone defeat in 2022. Local rivals Yuki Onu (8-0-2, 5 KOs) and former world title challenger Reiya Abe (26-4-2, 10 KOs) will vie for the vacant Japanese featherweight title. Both look to rebound from draws, with Onu going eight rounds with Kyohei Tonomoto last November and Abe battling Satoshi Shimizu over 10 rounds in March. |

MVP SIGNS CANADIAN IBO BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION AT 118 LBS AMANDA GALLE
NEW YORK, NY – June 11, 2025 – Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced the signing of 118lb IBO bantamweight world champion, three-time Canadian national champion, and BoxRec’s #1 Canadian bantamweight Amanda Galle (11-0-1, 1 KO). Galle joins MVP’s elite roster of top Canadian talent, including top-ranked lightweight Lucas Bahdi and 2x Canadian Olympian Tamm Thibeault, strengthening MVP’s commitment to uplifting women’s boxing globally.
Amanda Galle was raised in a proud Italian family in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and began her combat sports journey at age six. Under guidance of her lifelong coach Vito Brancaccio, she excelled in karate and earned her black belt at just 11 years old, also learning boxing and kickboxing. At 16, Galle stepped into the boxing ring for the first time and delivered a 28-second knockout. She quickly rose through the ranks, capturing gold at her Canadian National Championship debut in 2009. Galle captured a second national title at the 2013 Canadian Championships, just weeks after her mother was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Following a three-year battle, her mother went into remission in 2016 and Amanda took time off to recover from depression before returning to the ring in 2017, even as her mother’s cancer returned. Galle proved her resilience yet again as she quickly re-established herself among the amateur elite to win her third national title in 2018.
She made her professional debut in 2019, recording six back-to-back unanimous decision victories to begin her pro career. As Galle continued to fight, both in the ring and for her mother’s spirit, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and she stepped back from boxing to spend additional time with her mother and baby nephew. She returned to the ring in November 2021 with a unanimous decision victory against Jaica Pavilus, shortly before learning her mother had exhausted all treatment options. Galle fought once more in March 2022 before her mother’s passing, winning the Canadian super bantamweight champion title over Tania Walters and delivering the belt to her mother’s hospital bed at home. Her mother passed later that month. In December 2022, Galle overcame a broken hand to finish the year with a TKO win over Luz Elena Gerardo Martinez, then opened 2023 with another dominant decision. In December 2023, Galle earned her first title shot, defeating Niorkis Carreno to earn the then-vacant IBO bantamweight world champion. She most recently defended the title in a rematch against Carreno in December 2024. Outside of training at All Canadian Martial Arts Academy, Galle is an ambassador for Fight To End Cancer, regularly hosting bootcamps to raise funds for cancer research. As a graduate of Ryerson University in early childhood education, Galle enjoys working with youth at her gym and passing on the strength, resilience, and legacy her mother helped shape. Now under the MVP banner, she will look to achieve her next goal of becoming an undisputed champion at 118lbs.
“I’m thrilled to be working with MVP, the most powerful promotional team in women’s boxing,” said Amanda Galle. “MVP is making the biggest moves in the sport right now and I can’t wait to see what they do for me in this next chapter of my career. I am coming for all the belts in the bantamweight division so stay tuned for what’s next for Amanda Galle with the MVP team by my side.”
“Amanda Galle’s accomplishments and resilience in and out of the ring speak for themselves,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “We are proud to welcome her to MVP and continue to strengthen our investment in Canada’s elite boxing talents as Amanda joins Olympian Tamm Thibeault and standout lightweight Lucas Bahdi on our roster. We look forward to empowering Amanda on the next stage of her pro journey in the 118lb division as we continue to elevate women’s boxing globally.”
Galle joins MVP’s elite roster of athletes and up-and-coming talents including international superstar Jake “El Gallo” Paul, boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, undisputed super featherweight world champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner, Boxrec’s #2 greatest pound-for-pound women’s boxer of all time and former UFC 135lb champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm, MVP’s first homegrown champion, the new WBO super middleweight champion Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green, reigning unified bantamweight world champion and Boxrec’s #1 pound-for-pound female boxer Dina Thorslund, IBF and Ring Magazine super middleweight world champion at 168lbs Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall, WBC super lightweight interim world champion at 140lbs Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron. English boxing phenom and unified 122lb super bantamweight world champion Ellie Scotney, IBF bantamweight world champion at 118lbs Shurretta Metcalf (14-4-1, 2 KOs), Spain’s WBA Interim featherweight world champion at 126lbs Jennifer Miranda (12-0, 1 KO), multi-talented megastar Javon “Wanna” Walton, India’s most successful professional boxer Neeraj Goyat, top-ranked lightweight “Prince” Lucas Bahdi, Puerto Rican sensation Krystal Rosado, three-time US national boxing champion and high-fashion model Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro, Puerto Rican National Team star Jan Paul Rivera, 2x Canadian Olympian and amateur world champion Tamm Thibeault, 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “The Alley Cat” Gueche, Nigeria’s 126lb featherweight Elizabeth Oshoba, the multi-talented Somali-British boxer, activist, and high fashion model Ramla Ali, Costa Rica’s 20-year-old undefeated WBC Youth light flyweight world champion Naomy Valle, 15x US national amateur champion Nat “No Love”’ Dove, two-time Brazilian Olympian Keno Marley, undefeated Mexican prospect Yolanda “Pitayita” Vega, welterweight powerhouse Avious “Tha Underdog” Griffin, and Puerto Rican Olympian Yankiel “El Doctorcito” Rivera.

“This is my home, my people, and my moment,” said Manuel Flores. “Every round, every punch, every second—I fight for them. July 24th, I’m not just fighting an opponent; I’m defending my honor and representing my roots.”
“I’m excited to headline this card and can’t wait to perform in front of all my Southern California fans on July 24th,” said Jorge Chavez. “Fantasy Springs is close to my hometown of San Diego, so I’m expecting the support to show up on fight night. Manny Flores is a good fighter and this is the type of challenge I have wanted. I know I will rise to occasion and have an incredible performance, because winning this fight will take me to another level. I want to thank my coach Hector, my manager Abraham Perez and my team for believing in me.”
“At Golden Boy, we’re in the business of building champions,” said Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya. “It starts with spotting the next big stars and testing them against the best. Flores is riding the momentum of back-to-back knockout victories and Chávez is an undefeated fighter hungry to prove he’s ready for the next level. Representing Coachella, CA, Manny Flores is an exciting fighter in the super bantamweight division. After debuting in June 2017, he quickly gained attention for his aggressive style and explosive power, stringing together an impressive winning streak. While he faced a setback in June 2023 with a unanimous decision loss to Walter Santibanes, he’s since bounced back in spectacular fashion, winning five back-to-back fights by knockout. Most recently, he headlined at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, where he delivered a stunning fourth-round knockout against Mexico’s Jorge Leyva, adding to his growing list of highlight-reel finishes. Flores steps back into the ring on July 24 at Fantasy Springs, ready to prove himself against San Diego’s undefeated Jorge Chavez. This matchup between two of Golden Boy’s top rising stars promises fireworks and marks a pivotal moment in both fighters’ careers. Training under the guidance of Joel and Antonio Diaz at Diaz Training Camp in Indio, CA, alongside world-class talent like Israil Madrimov, Murodjon Akhmadaliev and Batyr Akhmedov, “Gucci Manny” is constantly improving. With his momentum and determination, Flores is on track for bigger things in the super bantamweight division.
Representing Tijuana and residing in San Diego, Jorge Chavez (14-0, 8 KO’s) is one of Golden Boy’s most promising prospects. With a 60-7 amateur record, Chavez’s journey to the professional world wasn’t easy. As an immigrant fighter, he didn’t have the same opportunities to travel and build his amateur background as many of his peers, but his talent and determination have carried him through. Known for his boxer-puncher style, Chavez combines solid technical skills with the ability to generate power when needed. Chavez made his professional debut in November 2021, and after impressing in his early bouts, he signed with Golden Boy Promotions in November 2023. Most recently, he showcased his crowd-pleasing style in a high-energy bout against the heavy-hitting Brandon Douglas on the Fundora vs. Badillo undercard at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, CA. The eight-round contest reminded fans why ‘El Niño Dorado’ has become a must-watch every time he fights. Now gearing up for the toughest test of his career, Chavez is set to face the talented Manuel “Gucci Manny” Flores in a highly anticipated showdown between two of Golden Boy’s brightest rising stars. The bout will take place as part of Golden Boy Fight Night at Fantasy Springs on July 24. Training out of Santa Ana with coach Hector Lopez, Chavez works alongside top talents like Alexis Rocha, Ronny Rios, and Bryan Lua, constantly sharpening his craft. With his unbeaten record and a promising future, Chavez is rapidly emerging as a fighter to watch in the super bantamweight division.

Pryce is Right again for undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight Pryce Taylor
NEW YORK CITY (June 11, 2025) – Immediately after last Friday night’s impressive fourth-round stoppage of Ed “Tex” Fountain, Brooklyn’s undefeated Pryce Taylor (8-0, 5 KOs) was called America’s best heavyweight prospect by his promoter, Dmitriy Salita (Salita Promotions).
The 28-year-old Taylor and his manager, New York City-based Attorney Keith Sullivan, agree with Salita.
“They’re (Salita and Sullivan) both right,” Taylor said, “because they’ve seen me fight. Fighting brings the dog out in me. He (Fountain) was a test, real resilient, but like a punching bag that’s ready to fall off the chain. I had to keep hitting him and no way was he thinking about playing it safe. The referee saved his life; he was thinking about not falling down.”
The powerful Taylor entered the ring paying tribute to the late, great George Foreman by wearing a “Big George” T-shirt. Prior to the fight, Taylor noted that he had great success in the pro ranks fighting southpaws like Fountain. Taylor methodically ripped his opponent’s head and body with damaging punches, hurting Fountain in the third round with a straight right-left hook combination, followed by a barrage of shots on the sturdy Fountain who managed to survive the round.
(L-R: Head trainer Benny Roman, Pryce Taylor wearing his George Foreman tribute T-shirt, and manager Keith Sullivan)
Fountain (14-9, 7 KOs), who was the best fighter the 6’ 4”, 280-pound Taylor had fought in the pro ranks, was rocked from another series of violent combinations, when referee Charlie Fitch had seen enough and waved off the fight 36-seconds into the fourth frame.
The fight was a scheduled 6-rounder on the “International Boxing Hall of Fame Night,” presented by Taylor’s promoter Salita Promotions, at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
“I was excited to be fighting on a show like that,” Taylor added. “He hit me first in the first round, something I always let my opponents do to test their power, gauge patterns, and figure him out. It’s like in baseball when a batter lets a pitch go by without swinging to see what he has on the mound. Because he’s a southpaw, his right is his jab, and he really wanted to use his left power hook. He had a good poker face, but he couldn’t hide it when I hurt him. He tried not showing he was fazed, keeping himself upright, but he felt my power. I like being accurate, especially throwing power punches. I punished him at the end, throwing a body shot, an uppercut, and then two right hooks.
“I thought George Foreman would have been proud of me and maybe thought he was seeing himself fight when he saw me punch. I put on a show. I’m a combination of Foreman and Muhammad Ali; power punching like Foreman, elusive like Ali with good footwork and light on my toes.
“I’m not sure if this was the best fight of my career, but he was my best opponent and the toughest guy I’ve fought. He came into the ring in good shape and tried to fight. His downfall was Pryce Being Right again. I love throwing my straight right and that keeps opening up my left hook to the body.”
Taylor had a 60-11 amateur record, including a pair of New York Golden Gloves titles, and he was the heavyweight runner-up four times in the prestigious USA Boxing National Championship tournaments.
“Pryce’s TKO win was exactly what I expected – dominant, calculated, and explosive,” Sullivan remarked. “He’s not just another prospect; with continued work, he can be the next great American heavyweight. With every fight, he’s proving that he has the tools, the discipline, and the mindset to be a force within this division. We’re building something special and the world’s about to see it.”
Team Taylor (L-R): Manager Keith Sullivan, undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor, promoter Dmitriy Salita, and head trainer Benny Roman
Salita told Taylor that he would be fighting next in his first scheduled 8-round bout on July 26 in Detroit on a Salita Promotions card headlined by undisputed World Heavyweight Champion Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 KOs) versus Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO) at Little Caesars Arena.
Sullivan, a former Deputy Commissioner for the NYS Athletic Commission, also manages 3-time, 2-division World Champion Miyo Yoshida (18-5) and Bronx NYPD Officer Nisa Rodriguez (3-1, 1 KO), as well as co-managing world-rated (IBF #3 & WBA #10) welterweight contender Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-1, 11 KOs), from Limerick, Ireland. Sullivan co-manages Donovan with former world middleweight champion Andy Lee, who is also Donovan’s head trainer.

OKOLIE-LERENA & LAPIN-EDMONDSON ADDED TO ‘UNDISPUTED’
In the first of two featured fights that can now be revealed, two-weight world champion and now heavyweight contender Lawrence Okolie, the WBC Silver champion, will defend his title by taking on the former IBO world cruiserweight champion and WBA world heavyweight title challenger Kevin Lerena from South Africa.
At light heavyweight, the British and Commonwealth champion Lewis Edmondson will go up against a Ukrainian challenge in the undefeated IBF Intercontinental and WBA Continental champion Daniel Lapin, with the two international belts on the line.
Some tickets remain for the Usyk vs Dubois superfight at Wembley Stadium on 19 July and are available from ticketmaster.co.uk and rtticket.com.
Okolie, 21-1 (14 KOs), won the WBO cruiserweight world title in 2021 with a knockout victory over Krzysztof Glowacki and went on to make three successful defences. He then won the WBC bridgerweight world title with a first round KO of Lukasz Rozanski in Poland before making the switch up to heavyweight and winning the WBC Silver title with another first round triumph over Hussein Muhamed in December 2024. At cruiserweight, Okolie was also British, Commonwealth and European champion after featuring at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Lerena, 31-3 (15 KOs), became IBO world cruiserweight champion in 2017 with victory over Youri Kayembre Kalenga and went on to make six successful defences before making the switch to heavyweight and claiming the IBO Intercontinental title by defeating Mariusz Wach.
Now 33, Lerena came very close to becoming the architect of a major upset when he travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December 2022 to take on current IBF world champion Daniel Dubois on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s world title defence against Derek Chisora. After losing a decision defeat to Justis Huni, Lerena’s most recent action came against Serhiy Radchenko in Pretoria, where he stopped the Ukrainian in the third round.
Edmondson, 11-0 (3 KOs), became British and Commonwealth champion in his 10th fight when he took a step up in class against former European champion Dan Azeez in London and inflicted an unexpected defeat over 12 rounds in his first title fight. Most recently, the 29-year-old defended his Commonwealth belt against the previously unbeaten Oluwatosin Kejawa and secured victory via a unanimous decision in Bournemouth.
Lapin, 11-0 (4 KOs), is an established member of Team Usyk and the Kyiv southpaw won his maiden title, the IBO Continental, with a defeat of Aro Schwartz in 2023. The 27-year-old added the WBA Continental title the following year with a first round stoppage of Octavio Pudivitr in Riyadh before securing the IBF Intercontinental title in December with a unanimous points victory over Dylan Colin.
Some tickets remain for the Usyk vs Dubois superfight at Wembley Stadium on 19 July and are available from ticketmaster.co.uk and rtticket.com.
Xhuljo Vrenozi Outclasses Joseba Díaz, Claims WBA Mediterranean Welterweight Title
It was a night of high-stakes action at the Gran Casino Costa Brava in Lloret de Mar, where Albania’s Xhuljo Vrenozi turned in a poised and dominant performance to defeat Spain’s Joseba Díaz by unanimous decision, capturing the WBA Mediterranean welterweight title.
From the opening bell, Vrenozi (24-6, 5 KOs) took command of the ring. Sharp footwork, fluid combinations, and smart timing allowed him to control the pace and keep Díaz (9-3, 5 KOs) on the back foot. The Spaniard came forward with pressure, but Vrenozi’s clean, calculated movement and accurate punching repeatedly disrupted his rhythm.
The judges’ scorecards told the story: 97-93, 97-93, and 96-94, all in favor of the Albanian technician. Díaz showed grit and determination throughout, but couldn’t find the consistent offense needed to turn the tide.
With this win, Vrenozi reaffirms his status as a serious player on the regional scene. It was a performance that blended ring IQ with discipline — a clear signal that the Albanian veteran still has plenty left in the tank.
The crowd in Lloret de Mar got their money’s worth in a spirited title bout, and Vrenozi walked away not only with the belt, but with renewed momentum in his career.
WBA Future of Colombian Boxing Shines in Barranquilla
The Cuadrilátero Gym in Barranquilla played host to an electrifying night of boxing as the WBA Future of Colombian Boxing event brought the heat, showcasing the grit, hunger, and raw talent of Colombia’s rising stars.
In the night’s main event, lightweight contender Miguel Bolaños (9-3-0) stunned the crowd with a commanding performance, handing Orlando Pérez (8-0-0) the first loss of his career. Bolaños dismantled the previously unbeaten Pérez with authority, proving he’s a serious force in the division.
In women’s super bantamweight action, Yeni Arias (1-0-1) emerged victorious over Jessica Racedo (0-5-0) in a hard-fought, high-energy bout. Arias stayed composed under fire, landing the cleaner, more telling shots, and made a strong case for herself as one to watch in the division.
Another standout moment came in the super lightweight ranks, where Deiver Ávila (4-0-0) extended his unbeaten streak with a sharp, calculated win over Santiago Gutiérrez (1-2-0). Ávila’s speed and accuracy were the difference-makers, as he controlled the pace and kept Gutiérrez on the back foot throughout the contest. Gutiérrez showed heart, but couldn’t match Ávila’s output.
Beyond the pro action, the event also featured a spirited amateur exchange between delegations from Magdalena and Atlántico, with young up-and-comers stepping into the ring to gain crucial experience in front of a lively crowd.
The evening stood as a testament to the WBA’s ongoing commitment to boxing development in Colombia—offering rising prospects a real stage to perform and helping lay the foundation for the next generation of talent in the region.
With a stacked card, passionate fans, and a glimpse into the future of Latin American boxing, WBA Future Colombia proved that the sport is alive, growing, and ready to deliver the stars of tomorrow.

NOWHERE TO RUN: THE POWERFUL OSCAR “LA MIGRAÑA” DUARTE AND THE SKILLFUL KENNETH “BOSSMAN” SIMS AGREE TO FACE OFF IN MAIN EVENT
Chicago, Illinois (June 10, 2025) – Fireworks are guaranteed when two of the super lightweight division’s most dangerous contenders collide in a high-stakes showdown. Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (29-2-1, 23 KOs), known for his relentless pressure and knockout power, will go toe-to-toe with Chicago’s own Kenneth “Bossman” Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs), a slick technician with everything to prove in front of a hometown crowd. The two super lightweights will have nowhere to run, and have been foaming at the mouth to take care of business in the ring. The 12-round main event takes place Saturday, August 2, live worldwide on DAZN from Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. Presented in association with Cancun Boxing, the event also marks Golden Boy’s electrifying return to the Windy City—more than a decade in the making—and promises a night of action-packed matchups as both fighters battle for a shot at championship glory.
“I feel very happy and motivated to be the main event on August 2nd against Sims Jr., an opponent I had previously scheduled to fight, but due to fate, the fight was postponed,” said Oscar Duarte. “I want to take this opportunity to thank Oscar de la Hoya, Eric Gómez, and the entire Golden Boy team for their trust. We are going all out, going for that win to get closer to a world championship.”
“This fight is long overdue and I’m ready to put on a show and leave with the victory,” said Kenneth Sims Jr. “I’m fully healthy now and ready to put on a stellar performance for my fans in Chicago. It’s a dream come true to headline in my hometown, the greatest city in the world.”
“There is nowhere to run and hide for Duarte and Sims in this super lightweight fight that has been brewing over the past year,” said Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya. “With all the animosity between the two, I can assure that fireworks will explode in this summer firecracker!”
More information on tickets and undercard will be announced in the coming weeks.
The first time Oscar Duarte stepped in a boxing ring was at 11 years old when his friends invited him to spar. Boxing seemed like Duarte’s life calling ever since, as he went on to claim five state championships, five regional championships, four national titles, and a bronze medal as an amateur. Duarte began his professional career in 2013, steadily building a reputation for his power, crisp combinations and ability to apply unwavering pressure on his opponents. Duarte’s name became known when he faced boxing star Ryan Garcia in Houston, TX in December 2023. Although coming up short against the hard-hitting Garcia, Duarte focuses on growth and his willingness to challenge himself against the best fighters in the division to demonstrate his determination to reach the highest levels of boxing. Under the tutelage of trainer Robert Garcia, Duarte made an impressive comeback, being the first fighter to ever stop former world champion Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz in April 2024. We then saw him against former stablemate Batyr Akhmedov in an all-action super lightweight battle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he secured a unanimous decision victory. Most recently, Duarte returned to the ring to take on the hard-hitting Miguel Madueño, in an all-Mexican, crowd-pleasing brawl at the Honda Center in February 2025. In that bout, Duarte became the first fighter to stop Madueño, securing a seventh-round knockout and taking the WBA Continental Americas super lightweight title back to Parral, Chihuahua. Duarte returns to the ring in Chicago to face hometown contender Kenneth Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs). Originally scheduled for November 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the bout was postponed due to Sims Jr.’s knee injury during training camp. Now, as the WBA’s No. 4 and No. 5 contenders, they’re set to deliver a must-watch clash of boxing finesse versus persistent pressure — a true showdown between Chihuahua and Chicago. As Duarte continues to rise through the super lightweight rankings, he has his sights set on world title opportunities. His hunger for success, combined with his natural, relentless firepower, makes him one of the sport’s most exciting contenders in the super lightweight division.
An amateur standout, former Team USA member and ranked in the top ten by the WBA and IBF, Kenneth Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs) is seeking to make a statement for the super lightweight division. Enticed by winning, he built an extensive amateur career that saw him become a nine-time national champion and make an appearance in the 2012 Olympic Trials where he lost a one-point decision to eventual Olympian and future world champion Jose Ramirez. He later continued to win the 2013 U.S. National Championships to earn a spot on the USA Boxing National Team. Sims Jr. was soon traveling the world with his teammates, visiting locations such as Ukraine, Ireland, Chile and Puerto Rico, culminating with an appearance in the 2013 World Championships in Kazakhstan. Sims Jr. decided to go professional in March 2014 and quickly amassed a winning streak. With only two losses and a draw as blemishes on his record, he rebuilt himself to be one of the toughest super lightweights in the division. His breakout performance was an upset win against previously undefeated prospect Elvis Rodriguez on May 22, 2021. Since then, he has added six more victories to his resume, launching him to the top of the rankings. The ‘Bossman’ made his mark once again on the Duarte vs. Madueño undercard at the Honda Center on Feb. 15, 2025, claiming a unanimous decision victory in an action-packed, crowd-pleasing fight that further cemented his place in the boxing world. Now ranked No. 4 by the WBA, Kenneth Sims Jr. is set to face Chihuahua’s Oscar Duarte in a highly anticipated bout that fans have been waiting for. The two were originally scheduled to fight in November 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but Sims Jr. was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury sustained during training camp. After exchanging intense words on social media and during a shared presser earlier in February, fight fans can expect fireworks as a slick boxer goes head-to-head with a relentless pressure fighter — a true war between Chicago and Chihuahua.

Kansas super middleweight prospect Marco “El Tiburón” Romero goes back to the future this Saturday in Portland, Maine
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 9, 2025) – Kansas boxing phenom Marco “El Tiburon” Romero (7-0, 6 KOs) started his pro career a year ago on Father’s Day Weekend in Portland, Maine, and he returns there this Saturday night for his third fight in The Forest City.
Despite the Cross Insurance Arena being more than 1,500 miles from his home in Olathe, Kansas, the 19-year-old Romero feels that Portland has become his second home, where he kick-started his pro career, and has developed a surprisingly growing fan base.
Romero stopped Jonathan Gary (2-1) on June 15, 2024, in the second round at Cross Insurance Arena. Last October, Romero defeated Orlando Salgado (3-5) in Portland by way of a third-round technical knockout at the Exposition Building.
This Saturday the gifted super middleweight prospect faces “The Conqueror” Nafys Anas Garner (4-2, 3 KOs), fighting out of Sacramento (CA), in a scheduled 6-round bout at Cross Insurance Arena.
“I’m more motivated than ever and couldn’t be happier to see the plan unfolding like we talked about a couple of years ago with Coach John (Brown, manager/head trainer), Uncle Al (Valenti, advisor), my father (Salvatore Romero, assistant trainer) and Sergio (Flores, assistant trainer).
“I’m ready and excited to be fighting again in Portland. I would love to bring a world title fight to Portland, where people appreciate good boxing. Traveling to fight is something I’m used to from my amateur days. Portland is like my second home because I’ve been treated so well there by everyone. I have big respect for Bobby Russo (promoter). He’s an amazing guy who has shown me respect from the start. He gave me my Golden Boy (Most Outstanding Boxer Award, Russo is President of the National Golden Gloves), when I won my division at the (2024) National Golden Gloves.”
(L-R) – Bobby Russo & Marco Romero
“Marco is excited to be fighting again in his adoptive city of Portland, which has the best fight fans in America,” Brown remarked. “He’s hoping to display the talents that will eventually lead him to a world title. Marco’s been lucky to fight every two months all over America, which is helping him build a national fan base.”

Vinny Paz Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame
CANASTOTA, NY – CES Boxing proudly celebrates Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil”Paz on his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 7, in Canastota, New York. A two-division world champion, Paz’s induction marks a key milestone in his storied career, highlighting his enduring influence and remarkable achievements both inside and outside the ring.
“Vinny embodies the heart and spirit of boxing,”said Jimmy Burchfield Sr., founder and president of CES Boxing, Paz’s longtime promoter. “His induction into the Hall of Fame is a tribute not just to his triumphs in the ring, but also to his incredible journey of overcoming adversity. We are beyond proud to celebrate this moment with him.” Rising to prominence in 1987, Vinny captured the IBF Lightweight World Championship in a 15-round war against Greg Haugen. Paz again defied expectations in 1991 by claiming the WBA Junior Middleweight World Title after defeating Gilbert Dele, becoming one of the few boxers to become a two-division world champion. Paz’ legacy, however, is best defined by his incredible resilience following a near-fatal car accident in late 1991. Recovering from a broken neck, he defied all odds and made a triumphant return to boxing just over a year later, securing victories against several notable fighters, including two remarkable wins over Roberto Duran. This extraordinary comeback became the focus of the 2016 critically acclaimed film Bleed for This. Vinny’s boxing record of 50 wins, including 30 knockouts, underscores a career filled with thrilling encounters against some of the sport’s greatest names. Known for his flamboyant entrances and relentless fighting style, he has made an unforgettable impact on fans around the world. Paz’ illustrious career also inspired future Rhode Island stars such as Gary “Tiger” Balletto, Peter Manfredo Jr., and burgeoning prospect Will Guilmette. “Vinny brought the crowd, the chaos, and the courage,” added Burchfield, who promoted Paz for much of his career. “When Vinny had 42 wins, he told me that he wanted to keep fighting until he got to 50. We achieved it together and it was a memorable ride. Saturday’s induction is not just a honor for Vinny. It celebrates a career of overcoming adversity and beating the odds. I coudn’t be happier for him.” For more information about CES Boxing, visit cesfights.com. INFORMATION About CES Boxing CES Boxing is one of the top promotions on the East Coast.
