GILBERTO “ZURDO” RAMIREZ: “YOU HAVE TO BE A GREAT FIGHTER & A BIG NAME TO HEADLINE CINCO DE MAYO. NOW IT’S MY TIME!”

HOLLYWOOD, CA. – April 14, 2026 – Unified WBA and WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez plans to make the most of his opportunity to headline Cinco de Mayo Weekend in Las Vegas as he takes on undefeated two-division world champion David “El Monstro” Benavidez in the main event of a PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video on Saturday, May 2 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“It’s an honor to be in this position,” said Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs). “You have to be a great fighter and a big name to headline Cinco de Mayo Weekend. Now it’s my time.”

Benavidez vs. Zurdo will present a first of its kind Mexico vs. Mexico matchup, as the first championship showdown between Mexican fighters to take place above 168 pounds. For the Sinaloa-native Ramirez, this historic angle adds even more juice to the biggest fight of his career.

“Fighting another Mexican is extra motivation,” said Ramirez. “We’re making history. There’s never been a fight like this between Mexican fighters this big. It’s going to be an amazing night. We’re going to leave everything we have in the ring.”

On top of their shared heritage, Ramirez and Benavidez also have a shared history inside of the ring, as Benavidez was used as a sparring partner ahead of Ramirez’s first world title fight, a 2016 victory over Arthur Abraham. When reflecting on the sparring, Ramirez remembers high-level action that should preview what fans are on for on May 2.

“Our sparring sessions would have been a great pay-per-view,” said Ramirez. “We both know that each of us has a lot of skill that we’ll be bringing into the ring. But I’ve also grown a lot as a fighter since we sparred. I’ve gotten a lot more experience that I’m gonna take into this fight.”

When Ramirez and Benavidez first shared the ring, Benavidez was still a year and a half away from becoming the youngest super middleweight world champion in boxing history. While they would both continue to win as they moved up in weight, Ramirez shared that he’s watched Benavidez and thought about them stepping into the ring for real throughout their last decade of successes.

“I’ve thought about fighting for David for about 10 years,” said Ramirez. “I think we both wanted to fight each other for that long. Now the time is almost here. David is a great fighter. I’ve been watching him a lot over the years and keeping an eye on him, knowing that one day we’d get in there together.”

Throughout a career that saw Ramirez make five successful defenses of his 168-pound belt before a 5-1 run that ended in a decision loss to Dmitry Bivol, he has perhaps reached his peak on his current cruiserweight run. Following a title-winning performance over then unbeaten Arsen Goulamirian in March 2024, Ramirez unified his WBA title with WBO champion Chris Billiam-Smith via unanimous decision that November. He then turned away the dangerous former champion Yuniel Dorticos last June, but despite the recent run of wins, he believes his best performance will come on May 2.

“I think my last two performances have been good, but they’re not as great as this performance will be,” said Ramirez. “This is gonna be a war. We’re gonna give all the Mexican people a big party on May 2.”

NIGHT OF THE HEAVYWEIGHTS: PADDY DONOVAN CHASES WORLD TITLE DREAM IN MAIN EVENT AS GERMAN HEAVYWEIGHTS LIGHT UP SAP ARENA

Mannheim, Germany, Tuesday April 14th 2026 – Ringside Zone today announces ‘Night Of The Heavyweights’, a stacked boxing event set to take place at the SAP Arena in Mannheim on Friday, May 15th 2026. The future of German boxing is on display with a series of heavyweight sensations taking over the arena where heavyweight icon Wladimir Klitschko brought so many big nights to Germany. Now a new generation looks to bring the heavyweight crown back to Germany.

Promoter Florian Winter said: “This is a historic night for German boxing at the SAP Arena. We are delivering a true Night Of The Heavyweights, showcasing the best of our emerging talent against tough international opposition and celebrating the excitement and passion of the sport on a big stage.”

In the main event, seasoned Ukrainian contender Karen Chukhadzhian (26-3, 14 KOs) faces Irish prospect Paddy Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) in a high-stakes 12-round IBF Welterweight World Title Final Eliminator. Chukhadzhian, a durable and experienced operator who has shared the ring with top-level opposition, looks to position himself for a world title shot, while hard-hitting Donovan aims to bounce back and make a statement on the international stage.

Karen Chukhadzhian said: This final eliminator is my chance to prove I belong at the very top. I’ve faced the best and I’m ready to outwork and outlast Paddy Donovan to earn my shot at the world title.”

Paddy Donovan said:“I’m coming to Mannheim to win big and move closer to a world title. Karen is tough and experienced, but I have the power and hunger to take the victory and make my mark.”

In the co-main event, hotly tipped undefeated German heavyweight prospect Emanuel Odiase (10-0, 8 KOs) challenges experienced British veteran Nick Webb (19-3, 15 KOs) for the WBO European Heavyweight Title over 10 rounds. Webb has beaten many undefeated prospects in the past and represents the biggest step up in opposition for Odiase to date. The towering Odiase brings explosive power and youthful ambition, while the battle-tested Webb looks to use his ring craft and knockout threat to claim European gold.

Emanuel Odiase said: “This is my opportunity to take the next big step in my career. I respect Nick Webb’s experience, but I’m bringing the power and energy to win the WBO European Title in front of my home fans.”

In a mouthwatering all-German heavyweight clash, Peter Kadiru (22-1, 13 KOs) meets the hard-hitting Senad Gashi (34-4, 32 KOs) in an 8-round bout. Gashi, who has previously shared the ring with former world title challenger Dereck Chisora, represents a massive step up in class for Kadiru in this exciting domestic showdown.

Undefeated 6 foot 9 southpaw heavyweight sensation Viktor Jurk (13-0, 11 KOs) returns in an 8-round heavyweight bout. A former top sparring partner for Oleksandr Usyk, Jurk is now fully focused on his own journey to become world champion in his own right. Whilst rising star Nellie Tiafack (3-0, 3 KOs) steps up in a 6-round heavyweight contest.

In only his fourth professional fight, unbeaten German cruiserweight Aleksander Okafor (3-0, 2 KOs) faces fellow undefeated opponent Elija Ulkuseven (8-0, 6 KOs) in a 10-round German Cruiserweight Title fight. This represents a massive step up in class for Okafor, who recently teamed up with the renowned McCracken’s gym in the UK as his trainers. Okafor wants to put the cruiserweight division on notice and mix it with the very best – a victory here would be a real statement.

Further down the card, unbeaten lightweight Devrin Gokduman (13-0, 8 KOs) contests a 10-round IBF European Lightweight Title bout, Olowule Jan Coisek (4-0, 2 KOs) features in a 6-round middleweight contest, and Edmon Avagyan makes his professional debut in a 4-round cruiserweight bout.

Night Of The Heavyweights is promoted by Ringside Zone and will take place at the SAP Arena in Mannheim on Friday, May 15th 2026. The event is brought to you by an elite line-up of sponsors including Harder & Partner, Aston Martin, Capri-Sun, Snocks, Innovative Digital Systems, SAP SE, Phönix Pharma SE, Kellergroup, and Rogon.

OSUMAH CLAIMS NABA TITLE IN EMPHATIC FASHION AGAINST GIL

Nigerian power took center stage in the Fight Capital of the World. In a commanding display of strength and precision, unbeaten prospect Michael Osumah captured the WBA NABA super welterweight title with a fourth-round TKO over Argentina’s battle-tested Sergio Gil on Saturday night at the The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

From the opening bell, the difference in firepower was undeniable. Osumah (11-0, 10 KOs) wasted no time asserting himself, taking command of center ring and using his reach to break down Gil’s guard. The Argentine veteran attempted to lean on his experience to weather the storm, but the African fighter’s hand speed began to crack that defense as early as the second round.

The beginning of the end came in the third, when a crushing left hook from Osumah sent Gil reeling into the ropes. Though the Argentine showed grit to survive the round, the damage was done.

By the fourth, it was all one-way traffic. A relentless barrage of unanswered combinations forced the referee to step in and wave it off at the 1:45 mark, saving Gil from further punishment.

With the victory, Osumah takes a major leap forward in his career, securing his first significant title under the WBA banner while maintaining a frightening knockout ratio. For Gil (22-16-2), the loss marks a turning point, as he ran into a surging prospect who proved he’s ready for bigger tests at 154 pounds.

GHANA IGNITES WITH A NIGHT OF WBA AFRICA TITLE FIGHTS

The Bukom Boxing Arena was electric this past weekend, hosting a stacked card of WBA Africa title fights where local and continental talent converged to reshape the African boxing landscape.

In the most explosive clash of the night, Theophilus Allotey captured the WBA Africa Gold super flyweight title with a stoppage victory over Jonas Erastus. Allotey set a relentless pace from the opening bell, showcasing superior power that ultimately forced the referee to intervene and protect the visiting fighter.

Jerry Lartey delivered the night’s technical masterclass, dethroning the previously unbeaten Sheriff Quaye to claim the WBA Africa super lightweight title. Lartey controlled the action from distance, putting on a disciplined boxing display reflected in the judges’ scorecards of 77-75, 80-72, and 79-73, effectively neutralizing Quaye’s aggression.

The heavyweight division also took center stage as Ahmed Abdula dominated Obaro Eradajaye from start to finish. Abdula cruised to a wide unanimous decision, with identical scores of 99-91 across the board, capturing the WBA Africa cruiserweight title and establishing himself as a rising force among the continent’s big men.

To cap off the night, women’s boxing made its mark as Sedem Ama secured a unanimous decision victory over Ivanusa Moreira. With scores of 79-73, 77-75, and 77-75, Ama claimed the WBA Africa female super welterweight title, closing out a memorable night for Ghanaian boxing and reinforcing Accra’s status as one of the sport’s emerging capitals.

Jenn Perella excited to be fighting in front of family & friends on ‘Rumble at the Rink II’

QUINCY, Mass. (April 13, 2026) – Former Endicott College varsity field hockey player, Jenn Perella, returns to the ring on May 16th for her sixth professional boxing match on the “Rumble at the Rink II” card, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at the Quincy Youth Arena in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Fighting out of Milton (MA), Perella (4-1, 1 KO) is matched against Irish featherweight Kate Radomska, in a 6-round bout. Perella, 42, was a decorated amateur boxer who won a silver medal at the 2024 National Golden Gloves Tournament, as well as capturing top honors at the 2016 New England Golden Gloves.

Due to COVID restrictions, Perella didn’t fight for 5 years until she got the boxing bug again in 2023, when she was preparing for the Haymakers For Hope charity event. Now, she’s training to fight less than 5 miles from her home, and she’s super stoked.

“My last fight was at Encore (Boston Harbor) in Everett,” said Perella, who is a personal trainer and event planner. “That was close to home but Quincy is even closer to Milton. This means a lot to me because a lot of people will be coming out to support me. I’m feeling good and I want to put on a show for everybody. I’ve got a really good fan base that supports me and my crazy dreams. And kids can come to watch me fight (May 16), unlike at Encore (21+ only). I train players on a youth hockey club that my son (Joseph) plays on. My children – Julianna and Joseph were only 3 and 2 when I started boxing – are 15 and 13 now. They’ve always wanted to come to my fights, but kids weren’t allowed at the venues I fought in. Their parents have supported me and now their children will, too. It’s going to be very familiar to me.”

Jenn’s father, Ricky McCormack, has always been front at her sporting events. He’ll be at a front row table with Jenn’s husband, Boston Fire Department Captain Anthony Perella, and their children, Julianna and Joseph.

“My father has always been there for me,” Jenn noted. “He always gives me a hug before I get into the ring. He gets so nervous for me. My husband worked the corner for two of my fights and he’s always there supporting me. This will be the first time my children watch me fight in person. I guarded them but they understand more what their mother does now.”

“I’ll be a little nervous leading up to the fight because I want to do so well. I’m ready! I know some people will be there supporting me – win or lose – who haven’t been able to watch me fight before. Many have supported me since I started, so I know that I’m going to see a lot of familiar faces.

“This will also be my first fight since I signed with Granite Chin Promotions. I’ve fought on (Granite Chin promoter, also from Quincy) Chris’ (Traietti) cards before, but he has taken a leap of faith by signing me, and I feel a little bit of pressure for that reason.”

Collision Course in Connecticut: Bohdziewicz vs. Rivera

HARTFORD, CT – A true clash of styles and trajectories unfolds on Saturday, April 18, as Stamford’s unbeaten Slawomir “Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz (7-0, 6 KOs) meets Manchester’s battle-tested Jose Carlos “Rated R” Rivera (9-4-1, 5 KOs) in a Connecticut light heavyweight showdown atop the undercard of CES Boxing’s ‘The Riverside Rumble’ at the Connecticut Convention Center.

Tickets for The Riverside Rumble are on sale now at CESFights.com. Doors open at 4pm, with the Jimmy Burchfield Classic Invitational amateur showcase beginning at 5pm.

For Bohdziewicz, the bout marks another proving ground for one of the region’s most dangerous punchers. The 6’2” Polish-born power puncher has been nothing short of clinical since turning pro, breaking down and stopping six of his seven opponents while establishing himself as a legitimate threat in the light heavyweight division.

Based in Stamford for the past 10 years, Bohdziewicz combines a disciplined, methodical approach with genuine knockout power—traits that have made him extremely popular amongst the Polish-American community. With stoppage victories in each of his last three fights, he enters April 18 looking to make another statement.

“Training camp was solid,” said a stoic Bohdziewicz a week from the fight. “I trained at Heavy Hitting Boxing and Fitness and at the Ortiz Boxing Gym in Bridgeport where Jacob ‘Lefty’ Marrero trains.  Sparring went really well and the preparation has been very positive.”

Standing across the ring from Slawomir on Saturday will be an equally popular opponent in Rivera, a seasoned southpaw who has quietly put together one of the more consistent stretches of his career. The Manchester native of Puerto Rican descent enters the bout 3-0-1 in his last four fights and brings a mix of experience, durability, and ring IQ that can test even the most promising prospects.

Known as “Rated R,” Rivera presents a stylistic challenge. Giving up height and reach, he relies on movement, timing, and his southpaw stance to disrupt rhythm and create openings—often forcing opponents into uncomfortable exchanges.

“Jose is a very experienced fighter,” agrees Bohdziewicz.  “He has 14 professional boxing fights, and he’s also had many MMA and kickboxing bouts.  His last fight was 3 months ago, so he’s been active.”

Rivera’s background across multiple combat sports, combined with his recent activity and form, only adds to the intrigue of a matchup that pits a rising puncher against a savvy veteran capable of flipping the script.

On paper, it’s a classic crossroads fight.

For Bohdziewicz, it’s an opportunity to prove he can break down a durable, experienced opponent and continue his climb up the light heavyweight ranks. For Rivera, it’s a chance to stop the rise of an unbeaten prospect and reassert himself in the regional picture.

“The ring will verify everything,” said the curt but confident Bohdziewicz.

Indeed, on April 18 we will all see what happens when power meets craft and promise meets experience.  Add Connecticut bragging rights between two proud cultures to the mix, and you have the right conditions for an explosive encounter.

Angel Barrientes Training Camp Notes

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 13, 2026) – Las Vegas native Angel “AK-47” Barrientes (14-1, 9 KOs) is impending on a key moment in his young career as he prepares to face undefeated Isaac Rojas Garcia (18-0-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-round super bantamweight bout on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. The event, promoted by Matchroom Boxing in association with Boxlab Promotions, will be streamed live worldwide on DAZN.

For the 23-year-old Barrientes, who is promoted by Boxlab Promotions, this fight marks his second scheduled 10-round bout, a significant step up that comes in front of his hometown crowd of Las Vegas, a stage he’s determined to own.

Barrientes has remained grounded and focused throughout camp, working closely with his father and coach, Rich Barrientes, refining both his physical and mental approach. “This wasn’t a normal camp, this was war every day,” Barrientes said. “My dad doesn’t let anything slide. He knows me too well, so he pushes me harder than anybody. We went past exhaustion, past comfort. Everything, conditioning, timing, patience, we sharpened it until it hurt. I’m coming to show out, I’m built for this level.”

Facing an undefeated opponent in Garcia, Barrientes understands the magnitude of the challenge but sees it as the perfect opportunity to prove himself. “Garcia’s undefeated, yeah, but that just means nobody’s stepped to him the right way yet,” Barrientes continued. “I’ve been grinding for fights like this my whole life. I’m not coming to sneak by or win on points…I’m coming to break him down and end the fight before the final bell rings. This is where I show I’m built different. I respect Garcia, but my hands will be raised after this fight.”

With his second 10-round fight ahead of him, Barrientes views this moment as a turning point, one that could propel him into serious contention in the super bantamweight division. “A win here changes everything for me,” stated Barrientes. “It shows I can compete at the top level of competition, that I can handle real pressure, and that I belong with the top fighters in this division. I’ve put in too much work to stay where I’m at, I’m ready to take that next step and make people start paying attention.”

Fighting in Las Vegas, on a global platform, adds another layer of motivation for Barrientes as he looks to deliver a memorable performance in front of his hometown supporters. “There’s nothing like fighting at home,” Barrientes concluded. “This is my city, these are my people, and I want to give them something to be proud of. To do it on DAZN, where the whole world is watching, makes it even bigger. I’m coming to put on a show so everyone can remember my name.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, believes Barrientes has all the tools to emerge as a serious force in the division. “Angel Barrientes is a fighter we believe in very strongly,” Piedra said. “He has the talent, the work ethic, and the mindset to compete at a high level. This fight is a major opportunity for him, and we expect him to rise to the occasion. A strong performance here can position him as a real contender in the super bantamweight division.”

With complete preparation and the spotlight set, Angel Barrientes enters April 25 with momentum, hunger, and the backing of his hometown, ready to turn a career milestone into a statement victory.

ARGENTINE KO KING CHAVES FACES MADUENO IN LAS VEGAS

Alan Chaves will defend his WBO Latino Lightweight title against Miguel Madueno on Saturday April 25, at the BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, acting as the co-main event on a card topped with the WBA World Heavyweight title eliminator clash between Jarrell Miller and Lenier Pero, exclusively live worldwide on DAZN.

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW STARTING AT $30 AT TICKETMASTER

Chaves (21-0 18 KOs) penned a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom earlier this week, and now the unbeaten Argentinian will be looking to impress in Sin City and move into position to land a world title fight, with the KO artist ranked #2 with the WBO, and top 15 with the IBF and WBC. The 25 year old made it four straight wins inside the distance in his last outing, a fourth successful defense of the belt, this time only needing one round to dispatch Pablo Vicente in October in Buenos Aires.

April 25 will be Chaves’ first fight in the States, and the task in front of him is Mexico’s Madueno (31-4 28 KOs). The 27 year old has mixed in great company, with his last two bouts seeing him take on Oscar Duarte and Keyshawn Davis, and ‘Explosivo’ will be looking to spoil Chaves’ big night and add to his own impressive KO stats.

“Signing with Matchroom is a crucial step in my professional career,” said Chaves. “I’m highly motivated and eager to make a name for myself in the world of boxing. I’m very grateful to be part of the world’s number one promotional company.

“It’s going to be a tough fight. Madueno is a very experienced and dangerous opponent who has fought against some big-name boxers. I’m in the best shape of my life—both physically and mentally. As always, I’ll give it my all in the ring, and I have no doubt that I’ll come away with the victory.”

More additions to the undercard are confirmed today, starting with former Team USA World Championship medalist Freudis Rojas Jr fighting for the first time in just over a year, as he takes on Damian Sosa over ten rounds at Super-Welterweight. Rosas Jr (15-0 11 KOs) will be on home turf in Las Vegas for the clash, where he last stepped through the ropes last March over eight rounds and now the 27 year old plans to get back on track for major honors, starting with his clash with Sosa (26-3 13 KOs) who took now-unified 154lb king Xander Zayas the distance.

“One way is back and ready to take a step closer to becoming a World champion,” said Rosas Jr.

The night starts live on DAZN with ten rounds of action at Super-Bantamweight between Angel Barrientes and Isaac Rojas. Barrientes (14-1 9 KOs) won his first ten round bout in July, securing a stoppage with 30 seconds left of his battle with Jorge De Jesus Romero, and now meets unbeaten Mexican Rojas (18-0-1 12 KOs) who fights in the States for the first time, in his first ten rounder.

“Fighting in my hometown of Las Vegas, in front of my people, on a big stage like DAZN, is going to be amazing,” said Barrientes. “I know Isaac is undefeated for a reason, he’s coming in hungry, but so am I. I’ve put in a serious camp, sharpened every aspect of my game, and I’m ready to show a new level. April 25 is my time to shine. This is my city, and I’m coming to give the fans a performance they won’t forget.”

Before the live action on DAZN, three unbeaten talents look to impress in the prelims. ‘The Sin City Sicilian’ Phillip Vella (5-0 2 KOs) is swiftly back in the ring after appearing on the Navarrete-Nunez undercard in Arizona in February, and he faces Edwin Rodriguez (12-10-3 5 KOs) over six rounds at Bantamweight, Indian Olympian Nishant Dev (5-0 3 KOs) tastes his first action of 2026 after picking up a fifth win in the paid ranks in December in Ghana, and he’ll take on Juan Carlos Guerra Jr (6-2-1 2 KOs) over eight rounds at Super-Welterweight, while the first bout of the night sees 19 year old Jorge Ruiz (3-0 2 KOs) meet Harley Laws Jr over six rounds at Featherweight.

Blazen Rocili “The Filipino Giant” Dominates in Statement Victory at “Rumble in the UNE,” Improves to 10-0

Union City, CA – April 9, 2026 — Undefeated middleweight sensation Blazen “The Filipino Giant” Rocili delivered a commanding performance, defeating seasoned veteran Cameron Krael by unanimous decision in front of a sold-out crowd at the highly anticipated “Rumble in the UNE” event on April 4, 2026, in Union City, California. The event, promoted by Elite Underdog Promotions, showcased a predominantly Filipino fight card and drew an electric atmosphere, with fans packing the venue in support of rising talent and cultural pride.

At 6’4”, Rocili towered over his opponent and utilized every inch of his height and reach advantage to control the fight from start to finish. From the opening round, Rocili established dominance behind a sharp, disciplined jab and a relentless body attack that gradually wore down the experienced Krael. Demonstrating a high ring IQ, patience, and composure beyond his 23 years, Rocili dictated the tempo, cut off the ring effectively, and consistently applied pressure that left little room for Krael to mount any sustained offense.

Round after round, Rocili’s strategy remained clear and effective—break his opponent down systematically. His ability to mix levels, targeting both the head and body with precision, proved to be the defining factor of the bout. By the later rounds, the cumulative effect of Rocili’s body work was evident, as Krael struggled to keep pace with the younger, stronger fighter. All three judges scored the contest decisively in favor of Rocili, solidifying his reputation as a disciplined and dangerous contender in the middleweight division.

With the victory, Rocili improves his professional record to a perfect 10-0, with 7 wins coming by way of knockout. The Las Vegas-based fighter, originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, is rapidly gaining recognition not only for his physical attributes but also for his technical development and maturity inside the ring. Widely regarded as the tallest Filipino boxer in the sport today, Rocili has become a unique and compelling figure in boxing, blending size, skill, and cultural representation.

The win further amplifies Rocili’s growing popularity, particularly within the Filipino boxing community, where he has garnered a strong and loyal following. His performances continue to resonate with fans both in the United States and internationally, especially in the Philippines, where excitement is building around his potential to become the next major star.

“Blazen can’t be stopped—he has every tool to become a world champion,” said Andrew Bocanegra, Rocili’s manager and President of Boxing VIP. “He’s not just winning fights—he’s dominating them. His height, reach, discipline, and high boxing IQ separate him from others in the division. We’re actively looking to step up the level of competition because we believe he’s ready for the next tier. The interest from promoters is already there, and it’s only going to grow.”

As Rocili’s stock continues to rise, multiple promoters have begun closely monitoring his progress, recognizing both his in-ring potential and marketability. With a rare combination of physical gifts and technical polish, Rocili is quickly positioning himself as one of the most intriguing prospects in the middleweight division. Following the fight, Rocili expressed gratitude and confidence as he looks toward the future: “I’m supported by one of the best teams in boxing, and with God in my corner, I can’t be stopped. This is just the beginning. I’m ready for bigger challenges and to show the world what I’m capable of.”

With momentum firmly on his side, Rocili and his team are now setting their sights on higher-caliber opponents as they continue their climb up the rankings. As he builds on his undefeated record and continues to evolve as a fighter, Blazen “The Filipino Giant” Rocili is rapidly emerging as a force to be reckoned with—and a potential future world champion in the making.

GARNER VS MAGNESI AT ST MARY’S!

Ryan Garner will bid to strike gold when he takes on Silver champion Michael Magnesi for the WBC Interim world super featherweight championship on the pitch at St Mary’s, home of Southampton FC, on Saturday June 20 live on DAZN.

The fight against the 31-year-old Italian will represent the fulfilment of a dream for Southampton local Garner, 28, who has stated from day one his ultimate ambition to fight at the stadium in his home city.

Another Southampton local fighting on the home stage is British light heavyweight champion Lewis Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs), who will take on European champion Lyndon Arthur (25-3, 16 KOs). Manchester man Arthur collected his belt with victory over Brad Rea in November. The bout will be for the European and Commonwealth titles.

Ryan Garner (19-0, 10 KOs) remains on the WBC course he set out on in 2023 when he won the International title at York Hall with a third round stoppage of Juan Jesus Antunez.

The Piranha has since made successful defences of the belt against Liam Dillon, Archie Sharp, Salvador Jimenez and Reece Bellotti, adding the British, Commonwealth and European titles along the way.

Garner, who has fought twice closer to home in Bournemouth, is a huge fan favourite in the city and is an ambassador for the Saints Foundation.

Magnesi (26-2, 13 KOs) has previously held the WBC International title held by Garner before becoming IBO world champion in late 2020 following a fifth round stoppage of Patrick Kinigamazi. He successful defended the title twice before travelling over to Manchester to take on Anthony Cacace in September 2022, where the Belfast star prevailed via split decision.

Since that first career setback, Magnesi has won the WBC Silver title, lost it and won it back again in fights against Nike Theran, Masanori Rikiishin and Khalil El Hadri respectively.

Ryan Garner: “This has been my dream all along and now it is coming true. Frank promised me he would make it happen and he has always delivered for me right from the beginning.

“I believe this will be one of the biggest single sporting events ever to take place in the city and I know that I’ve got the Southampton people behind me. It will just be an amazing occasion, but I have got a job to do against a tough opponent so I can make sure we can do this again and again.

“I am thrilled that we are sticking to the WBC title and, when I win this one, the champion will have no place to hide.”

Promoter Frank Warren added: “I am personally delighted to be putting on this special night for Ryan at St Mary’s. I am extremely fond of Ryan as he has been with us since day one on turning professional at 18 and his talent and potential has always been obvious.

“It has taken a little bit of time to get to this point and through Ryan’s efforts and title successes, I can now deliver on my promise for him to fight at the home of Southampton FC, who have supported him tremendously.

“Winning this fight against Michael Magnesi is Ryan’s gateway to the big time and more major fights and massive occasions.

“I would like to extend my thanks to the staff and officials at Southampton FC for their help in making this happen for Ryan.”

Phil Parsons Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Southampton FC: “This is Ryan’s dream fight and one that means so much to him. He is a proper Saint who is so deserving of completing this journey from watching in the stands to the being the star of the show on the pitch.

“It’s a fantastic moment not just for Ryan, but for the whole city and region to come together and support one of its own on a truly special night.

“We’re honoured to host this fight at St Mary’s Stadium and hope it can be the first of many, bringing more major events like this to the city of Southampton in the future.”

TYSON FURY VS. ARSLANBEK MAKHMUDOV FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LONDON, UK –  April 9, 2026  –?Today, international heavyweight World Champion Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) and knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) came toe to toe at the final press conference in advance of their highly anticipated showdown streaming live on Netflix on Saturday, April 11.

Fighters across the main and preliminary cards participated in the press conference, including British welterweight Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) who will take on Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs) in the co-main event. Additional fighters in attendance included Jeamie Tshikeva (9-2, 5 KOs), Richard “The Midnight Train” Riakporhe (19-1, 15 KOs), Frazer Clarke (9-2, 7 KOs), Justis Huni (12-1, 7KOs), Pawel August (17-0, 7 KOs), Simon Zachenhuber (28-0, 17 KOs), Breyon “Grind Time” Gorham (20-0, 16 KOs), Eduardo Costa (12-5, 5 KOs), Mikie “The Omen” Tallon (11-0, 2 KOs), Leonardo Blanc (0-1, 0 KOs), Felix Cash (16-0, 10 KOs, Liam O’Hare (13-2, 4 KOs), Hector Lozano (3-7-1), Sultan Almohammed (2-0, 1 KO), Elliot Whale (13-0, 8 KOs, and Tom Hill (12-3, 3 KOs).

The event was punctuated by a series of candid, emotionally charged exchanges, from Conor Benn openly reflecting on his maturity, faith and violent welterweight intentions against former two?time world champion Regis Prograis, to Tyson Fury vowing a destructive return after 16 months out of the ring against fearsome knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov, while heavyweight contenders Frazer Clarke, Justis Huni, Jeamie Tshikeva and Richard Riakporhe all promised to steal the show on a historic Ring Magazine card streaming live on Netflix.

Hosted by Josh Denzel, the fighters had plenty to say at the press conference about their upcoming matchups. See quotes below and view the full press conference on Netflix Sports YouTube and The Ring’s YouTube.

TYSON FURY QUOTES

On returning to the ring after 16 months and deciding to come back: When I walk away every time from boxing, I have zero intentions of returning. However, after a few months, I’m bored of the normal life – dropping the kids off at school, taking the dog for a walk, that sort of stuff – and I miss the game. I miss the boxing. I miss the press conferences. I miss everything that comes with the big fights.

On being the hunter again in the heavyweight division: For the first time in forever, I’m the hunter. I’m not the hunted. And we all know that when I’ve always been the hunter in the past, I’ve always fucked people up. I feel actually sorry for Arslanbek Makhmudov because he’s got to face me – an injury?free Tyson Fury and on good form. I’ve had good preparation and I’m going to make an example of him.

On what he plans to do to Arslanbek Makhmudov on fight night: I’m going to lay him unconscious on Saturday night at Tottenham. I’ll be like the game cock on top of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he’ll be like the knocked?out man, spark out on the floor on the canvas looking up thinking, “What the fuck just happened there?” But it’s no shame, because like he said, he’s fighting the great Tyson Fury. And not only will I do it to him, I’ll do it to all of them as well, like I’ve done many times in the past before.

On what version of Tyson Fury fans will see on April 11: Speedy, skillful, handsome and destructive – 100%. The one thing about me is I’ve never lost my speed or my reactions. I can put my hands down, let a heavyweight try and punch me in the face, and get out of the way of 99% of them.

ARSLANBEK MAKHMUDOV QUOTES

On headlining a Ring Magazine card on Netflix against Tyson Fury: To be honest, very excited. Really excited to be in this kind of event, in this big show with these big names. I’m very happy and can’t wait for Saturday night.

On the pressure of the biggest stage of his career so far:  I don’t have nothing pressure because God prepared me for this moment all my life……And I believe this is my time. It’s my hunting. That’s it.

On what fans should expect from him against Tyson Fury: We are going to give the fans exactly what they deserve – a good fight. I think both styles are a good mix for fans. Let’s believe in some action. Two big guys go in the ring to kill each other. Just one game plan: to land a lot of punches and don’t receive punching for myself. That’s it. Very simple.

On whether he believes he can be the first man to stop Tyson Fury: Tyson Fury is a great boxer. In boxing we have rules – you have to go for count, you have to go for good boxing. This is what I want to do: to box good. This is my goal. What’s going to happen, we don’t know. We’ll know Saturday night.

CONOR BENN QUOTES

On evolving after the first Eubank loss and what fans will see on Saturday: I had to grow. I had to become a better fighter to beat Eubank and not fight the same kind of fight. And that’s what I’d done. As for this fight, you’re going to get the old welterweight Benn back.

On returning to his natural welterweight and feeling dangerous again: It’s the weight I’ve been most dangerous at my whole career…..it’s now time for me to come back down to my natural weight. People say I can’t do it – I’ve done it – and get that world title and solidify my legacy. But ultimately, Regis is my world title shot. He is in the way of my world title. It was the first name that was mentioned to me and it was straight away, “Yeah, of course, no problem. When? Six weeks? No problem. I’ll be ready.”

On going four years without a knockout and what that means here: In the nicest possible way, I’m extremely violent and dangerous. But ultimately, for me, you’ve got to remember: I’ve been competing at a weight that’s not my weight for the past two, three years. Fighting at 154, fighting at 160 – it’s not my weight. These are big guys that I’ve been mixing it with. So for me to fight somebody my own size for a change, it’s exciting. I know the weight I’m most dangerous.

REGIS PROGRAIS QUOTES

On moving up in weight to face Conor Benn at 150 lbs: My plan was to go up anyway. So when they called me about it, I was just like, “Yeah, of course. Let’s do it.”

On fighting again in the UK and the British boxing fans: The British fans are great, bro. I don’t have no problem fighting in front of the British fans because they love boxing. I mean, it’s not my country, it’s not my home, but at the same time, they embrace boxing just like they love us. So I’m cool with it.

On what a win over Benn on this Netflix stage would mean: After this, I mean, I feel like it’ll be whatever I want. I can say whatever I want. I can call anybody who I want and tell them what I want. After a fight like this, people won’t have to come to me with opportunities – I’ll come to them, and that’s how it’ll be.

JEAMIE TSHIKEVA QUOTES

On his physical advantages and Richard adapting to full heavyweight: In a way Richard’s got to get used to the weight too. Obviously, it’s only been a year since he’s been, I think, sitting at a heavyweight weight and he’s got to get used to fighting at that weight. Look, we’re doing 12 rounds. We’re going to wait and see on Saturday how it goes, to be honest.

RICHARD RIAKPORHE QUOTES

On the opportunity of fighting for the British title on Netflix: I think it’s just a major opportunity. I think this will be the first ever highest?televised British title fight in the history of boxing, and I’m happy that I get to be a part of that. We’ve got some champs over there, some legends – Lennox Lewis, David Haye – they all won this title. And I think now I think about legacy.

FRAZER CLARKE QUOTES

On his intentions for the fight: For any of you guys that think I’m just turning up here to take part, you’re absolutely crazy. You obviously don’t know me well enough. That’s never been in my DNA. There’s never been a fight where I don’t leave every ounce of myself in that ring. This is not about going in there and just surviving. I’m coming here to win and to win well.

JUSTIS HUNI QUOTES

On knowing Frazer from the amateurs and what he brings: I always felt like we were going to meet at some point in our career, and yeah, now’s the time. Just my boxing ability and movement, speed. I think when I put it all together, it’s going to be a tough challenge for him.

Wise Owl Boxing Signs Rising Los Angeles Prospect Jahvad McDermott

Los Angeles, CA — Wise Owl Boxing proudly announces the signing of undefeated super welterweight prospect Jahvad McDermott, a towering and highly promising talent out of Los Angeles, California.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-6, McDermott brings a rare blend of size, athleticism, and power to the super welterweight division. With physical dimensions comparable to reigning world champion Sebastian Fundora, McDermott is expected to create serious problems for opponents throughout the division.

“Jahvad is a force to be reckoned with,” said Mark Habibi, founder of Wise Owl Boxing. “He’s still very young in his boxing career, but his upside is tremendous. His size alone is going to give a lot of fighters in the division a very difficult time, and when you combine that with his power and athleticism, you’re looking at a future star.”

The signing of McDermott is the latest addition to a rapidly expanding Wise Owl Boxing stable, which has quickly established itself as one of the most respected and talent-rich groups in the sport. The roster includes world champions, top contenders, Olympians, and high-pedigree fighters positioned to compete at the highest level.

“We’re building something very special,” Habibi added. “Our stable has been growing rapidly, and we’ve assembled elite fighters across the board—world champions, Olympians, and future world champions. Jahvad fits right into that mix, and we’re excited to have him on board and begin developing him into a superstar.”

While officially listed as 1–0, McDermott has already competed in two professional bouts, with one victory yet to be reflected in official records. Despite being early in his professional journey, he has shown clear signs of his potential, combining natural physical advantages with strong athletic ability and developing ring skills.

With the backing of Wise Owl Boxing and a focused development plan, McDermott is expected to quickly emerge as one of the most intriguing rising fighters in the super welterweight division.

Wise Owl Boxing remains committed to identifying, developing, and elevating elite talent, and the addition of Jahvad McDermott further strengthens its position as a premier force in boxing.

VIDEO: Xander Zayas vs Jaron “Boots” Ennis Kickoff Press Conference

THE PURSUIT OF GREATNESS: ZAYAS VS. ‘BOOTS’ PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

BROOKLYN, NY, April 8, 2026 – Today, in the heart of Brooklyn, NY at Barclays Center, WBO and WBA Junior Middleweight World Champion Xander Zayas (23-0 13 KOs) and challenger, Philadelphia’s Jaron “Boots” Ennis (35-0 31 KOs), took to the stage to discuss their June 27 bout. The blockbuster fight is streaming live and exclusively on DAZN PPV, brought to boxing fans around the globe by Matchroom in association with Top Rank.

While Ennis aims to cement his status as a two-weight unified champion, the 23-year-old Zayas most recently unified both titles earlier this year in Puerto Rico after an exhilarating contest that yielded a split decision with Abass Baraou. The outcome notably solidified Zayas as the youngest unified ruler in the sport and the first Puerto Rican to unify at the weight.

Below is what the fighters and their teams had to say:

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Chairman

On how he’s feeling that the fight came together…

“I still can’t believe it. One of the hardest jobs in boxing is to get Jaron “Boots” Enis fights. The great news is, thanks to the DAZN partnership with Top Rank, we started talking and all of sudden we said ‘I think we can make Xander Zayas versus Jaron Boots Ennis.’ I’m still in shock and I give the unbelievable credit that Xander deserves because he is a great fighter. He must have a massive set of cojones because what’s about to happen on June 27th is one of the toughest tasks in boxing.”

On not believing Xander would take the fight…

“Dangerous, not just dangerous for him but dangerous for Boots because this kid is 23 and he’s one of the hottest young stars in the sport. I would be keeping him away from Jaron. If I represented Xander Zayas, there is no way I would let him take this fight. I’d be saying ‘listen, we’ll go to MSG, we’ll fill that out and we’ll do another homecoming fight in Puerto Rico. We’ll have Bad Bunny singing you out. We’ll milk it. We’ll do this, we’ll move up to middleweight, we’ve got years. But this fight is what boxing needs.’”

Todd DuBoef, President, Top Rank

On having their first major event with DAZN on the Calendar…

We have a saying: ‘This is boxing.’ And I’m going to tell you something. This fight, this is boxing. This is what it’s about. Young kids, in their prime, going at it, putting it all on the line, and win or lose, they both win. That’s what makes this sport so great.”

On what he’s seen over the last year that’s put Xander in this position…

The confidence. We got Xander when he was so young, he was sitting in my office, he was like ‘Miguel Coto’. I just idolize ‘Miguel Coto’. But to see him physically mature, to see his intellect in the ring, to get used to the ups and downs, and then once you win that title, you just expand your horizon, you get more confidence, and he had so much confidence he goes after the boogieman, the guy that nobody wants to fight. We’re not holding him back, we’re letting the race car go.”

Jaron “Boots” Ennis

On his mindset coming into this fight…

“I think Xander bit off way more than he can chew. Come fight night, he’ll see. I’m going to show everyone that I’m the best in the world.”

On what he thinks made Xander take this fight…

“You can watch my fights but when you get in the ring it’s a whole different story. I’m faster than you think. I’m stronger and I have a better IQ, too. He’s going to be in for a long night.”

On the split of the money…

“If he’s so confident, why didn’t he take the 55-45 split for the winner? I think that shows a lot. There’s levels to this and I’m going to show him that. It’s about legacy for me. I want to show the world why I’m the best and I believe in myself.”

On if the fight will end in a knockout…

“For sure.”

Xander Zayas

On why this fight against Boots Ennis had to happen for him…

“It’s always been about legacy. Becoming the youngest world champion at 22 when I did it. Youngest unified world champion. And now fighting one of the best in the world in the division. It’s about legacy. Anybody could have taken the easy route and just get an easy win and that’s it. I want to fight the best. I want to show that I’m the best every time I step into the ring. And that’s what I’m going to do on June 27.”

On Ennis being a weight bully…

“Because he has, I mean, everybody at 147 was always smaller than them. He was a big cop. 54 is different. You got these guys coming from 190 from 181, 85, 200. It’s different.”

What are his advantages in this fight against Ennis…

“Everything. I mean, [Ennis] has never faced an athletic fighter like me.”

On how the fight ends…

“I never go out there looking for the knockout. But I promise I’m going to rip his heart out. I guarantee you that. He’s going to be uncomfortable. I’m going to show you come June 27.”

Todd DuBoef, President, Top Rank

On having their first major event with DAZN on the Calendar…

We have a saying: this is boxing. And I’m going to tell you something.

We’re not holding him back, we’re letting the race car go.

Javiel Centeno, Zayas’ Trainer

On Zayas wanting to fight Ennis…

“We’ve talked about Jaron Ennis in the past, and we’ve always been in agreement on things we’ve seen that we can take advantage of. Xander said this is the time to do it, and as a team we decided to take the fight.”

Bozy Ennis, Jaron’s Father and Trainer

On his thoughts for the June 27 fight…

“I think [Zayas] bit off too much. Boots can box and he can fight you inside. I want [Zayas] to take him [Zayas] to another level because Boots has so many different levels he can get to.”

Kristian Prenga Headlines “Crossroads in Brick City” on June 6 in Newark

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY — April 8, 2026 — Rodney Rice’s RDR Promotions will stage its first show at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. as Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga headlines their “Crossroads in Brick City” event on Saturday, June 6.

The heavy-handed Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs), a native of Orosh, Albania who now lives in New Jersey, will face an opponent to be named in an eight-round fight. Prenga has become one of the most popular fighters in the state since making his United States debut in 2022. He has won his last three fights by first round knockout thanks in large part to possessing one of the hardest right hands in the sport. Now, Prenga takes his next step towards heavyweight contention, with a big win expected to move him into the next tier of the division.

In the co-featured bout, Newark’s own Michael “Slick” Anderson (25-4-1, 19 KOs) will meet Nimal Farmer (6-1-2, 4 KOs) of Lindenwold, N.J. in an eight-round welterweight fight. Anderson is coming off a third-round stoppage win over Tackie Annan in November and always brings large crowds, especially when he’s fighting at home. He will face the tough as nails Farmer, who is looking to rebound from his first ever defeat.

Tickets are available for purchase now at www.ticketmaster.com and www.prucenter.com. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first fight set for 6:30 p.m.

“RDR Promotions is extremely proud to have been welcomed into the Newark, N.J. boxing community,” said Rice, President of RDR Promotions. “We plan to not only provide a consistent platform for local fighters, but vow to be an invaluable resource to the community.”

“We are thrilled to welcome RDR Promotions’ marquee professional boxing event entitled ‘Crossroads in Brick City’ to Prudential Center for the first time,” said Dylan Wanagiel, Vice President, Sports Properties and Special Events, Prudential Center. “With a world-class fighter like Kristian Prenga headlining plus a stacked lineup of rising talent from throughout the Northeast, fans are in for an unforgettable night. This event marks an exciting step in showcasing top-level boxing in New Jersey and solidifying Prudential Center as a premier destination for combat sports.”

The card will also feature a number of competitively matched fights between prospects from across the area.

In a six-round lightweight bout, Philadelphia’s Rashan Adams (11-1, 6 KOs) will meet Camden’s Naheem Parker (6-4, 2 KOs). Adams has won his last six bouts and will be facing a crafty boxer-puncher who has shown he can upset the odds, having handed previously unbeaten boxers Raekwon Butler and Justin Palmieri their first defeats.

Junior welterweight prospects will put it all on the line when Juan Rivera V (9-0, 5 KOs) of Philadelphia meets Demarius Driver (12-1, 7 KOs) of Nashville, Tennessee. It will be the first ten-round fight for Rivera, who has kept a busy schedule since turning professional two years ago. Driver, a pro since 2017, is seeking to redeem himself after suffering his first loss in his most recent bout.

In another “crossroads” bout, Vladimir Dalton (2-0) of nearby Elizabeth, N.J. will meet fellow unbeaten fighter Ibrahima Fofana (2-0, 2 KOs) of The Bronx, N.Y. in a four-round cruiserweight fight. Dalton, a 2017 National Golden Gloves silver medalist, last fought in March, defeating the previously unbeaten Shakeem Williams by decision, while Fofana, a native of Senegal, scored knockouts in his two pro fights last year.

New York and Jersey City will collide in a four-round middleweight fight as Famous Wilson (4-0, 2 KOs) of Brentwood, Long Island faces Bernard Gardner (1-1, 1 KO) in a matchup of former amateur standouts. This won’t be the first time the two have met, with Wilson having won a decision over the man now known as Rex Presidential in the 2019 National Golden Gloves. The fight will be Wilson’s first in two years while Gardner, a southpaw, will look to bounce back from his first defeat last December.

Also in action, brothers Muadh Abdus-Salaam (3-0, 1 KO) and Zahir Abdus-Salaam (2-0, 1 KO), both of Newark, will fight in separate bouts. The Abdus-Salaam brothers were recently commended by the city of Newark for their accomplishments as student athletes, with Muadh having played defensive back for the Delaware State University Hornets football team and Zahir having been a running back for the Western Michigan University Broncos. Also commended at that ceremony were fellow Newark natives Anthony Johns (11-1, 6 KOs) and Yoell “Boy Boy” Cooper, who will also be in action on the card in separate bouts.

In addition, John Gjini (16-0, 15 KOs) of Greenwich, Connecticut will compete in an eight-round featherweight fight, while junior lightweight Alexander Collado of North Bergen, N.J. will look to secure his first win as a professional in a four-round bout.

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Unbeaten Bridgeport southpaw Jacob “Lefty” Marrero (11-0, 8 KOs) will fight for his first professional title on Saturday, April 18 when he takes on Venezuela’s Rowin Sanchez (6-2-3, 4 KOs) for the vacant WBC FECARBOX Lightweight Championship in the main event of CES Boxing’s‘The Riverside Rumble’ card at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Tickets for The Riverside Rumble are on sale now at CESFights.com. Doors open at 4pm, with the Jimmy Burchfield Classic Invitational amateur showcase beginning at 5pm.

At 26 years old, Marrero enters the biggest moment of his career unbeaten in 11 fights with 8 knockouts.  He now steps into a championship opportunity just one hour from his hometown.  A strong Bridgeport contingent is expected to make the short trip to Hartford, turning the main event into a hometown atmosphere for Marrero.

“It means everything,” said Marrero of the opportunity to fight for his first pro title. “I’ve always dreamed about fighting for a belt. Doing it this close to home makes it even more special.”

A slick, sharp-shooting southpaw with power, Marrero is coming off a dominant second-round knockout of veteran Emiliano Garcia at Foxwoods – an emphatic performance that established Marrero as one of the country’s top prospects.

“I knew he was a veteran,” said Marrero of the experienced Garcia. “We stuck to the game plan, stayed patient, boxed smart, and eventually got him out of there in the second round. Everything went according to plan.”

Enter Rowin Sanchez.  The 29-year-old Venezuelan, now based in Alabama, has just as many fights as Lefty and is coming off the biggest win of his career.

“He comes to fight,” assessed Marrero. “He has a lot of heart and he drew with an undefeated fighter recently, so much respect to him.”

The bout is a classic clash of styles, pitting Marrero’s precision and timing against Sanchez’s pressure and toughness – an explosive combination for a high-stakes main event.

“We don’t underestimate anybody,” agreed Marrero.  “I’m expecting a great fight.  I’m just going to go out there, adapt, and do whatever I have to do to come out victorious.”

With a title and potential WBC ranking on the line, Marrero sees April 18 as a launching point.

“Fighters from my city have won belts, but not this one,” said Marrero of the belt that was once held by the likes of former multi-division world champions Ricardo Mayorga and Joan Guzman.  “I’m excited to be the first to fight for it, and I’m planning on winning it.”

Fans who would like to meet Lefty and hear from him a week before the fight can join CES Boxing this Saturday, April 11 at Steelpointe Harbor in Bridgeport.  The press conference begins at 1pm EST.

BKB BARE KNUCKLE BOXING ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF FORMER WORLD CHAMPION ALFREDO “EL PERRO” ANGULO

MIAMI, FL – BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing is proud to announce the signing of former world champion and fan-favorite warrior Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (26-8, 21 KOs) to a multi-fight deal, adding another proven elite striker to its rapidly growing roster.

A relentless pressure fighter known for his toughness and all-action style, Angulo brings decades of high-level experience to BKB. The Mexicali, Baja California native built a decorated professional boxing career that included capturing the WBO Interim Light Middleweight Championship (2009–2010), along with regional titles such as the WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight and WBO Inter-Continental Super Welterweight belts.

Before turning professional in 2005, Angulo compiled nearly 100 amateur bouts, highlighted by a victory over future world champion Timothy Bradley. He also represented Mexico on the international stage, earning medals at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2003 Pan American

Games, before competing in the 2004 Olympic Games.

Throughout his career, Angulo faced a who’s-who of elite competition, including Canelo Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Kermit Cintrón, Sergio Mora, and others, earning a reputation as one of boxing’s most fearless and entertaining fighters. His aggressive style and durability have already proven to be a natural fit for bare knuckle.

“This is a huge signing for BKB,” said BKB CEO David Tetreault. “Alfredo Angulo is the definition of a warrior. Fans know exactly what they’re going to get every time he steps into the ring – heart, pressure, and nonstop action. He’s built for bare knuckle, and we’re excited to showcase him on the BKB stage.”

Angulo’s journey has been marked by resilience as much as success. A highly publicized visa dispute in 2012 saw him detained for eight months, a challenge he overcame with perspective and gratitude—famously donating his hair to Locks of Love during that time to support children battling cancer.

“I’ve fought the best in the world, and I’m still hungry,” said Angulo. “Bare knuckle brings out a different kind of fighter, and that’s who I am. I’m ready to give the fans exciting fights and show them that ‘El Perro’ still has a lot left.”

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting Mexican fighters of his era, Angulo now looks to carve out a new legacy in bare knuckle boxing under the BKB banner. Angulo is expected to make his BKB debut July 18 at BKB 56 in Los Angeles.

From its origins in 2015 as BYB Extreme Fighting Series, founded by MMA pioneer Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris and Mike Vazquez, BKB has transformed bare knuckle boxing into a regulated, globally broadcast powerhouse through strategic acquisitions – including the original UK-based BKB in 2024 and Bad To The Bone in 2025 – and a fighter-first philosophy that emphasizes athlete welfare and opportunity. Landmark

broadcast partnerships with talkSPORT (UK and Ireland), VICE (US and Canada), and Telemundo (Spanish-language in the US) have delivered live events to millions worldwide.

Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano is the first-ever Puerto Rican undisputed world champion and the most decorated fighter in women’s boxing history, recognized by the Guinness World Records for the most boxing world championships won by a female in different weight classes. Serrano, currently the unified featherweight champion holding the WBO, WBA and Ring Magazine titles, is Most Valuable Promotions’ first signee, who also signed the first ever lifetime combat sports contract with MVP and will become Chairwoman of MVP’s women’s boxing initiatives to lead the company’s efforts in identifying, signing, developing and marketing the promotion’s growing roster of female athletes post her in-ring retirement. Serrano faced off against Katie Taylor for the first time at Madison Square Garden in April 2022, making history as the first women’s fight to headline Madison Square Garden, earning global acclaim and winning Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year for 2022. Taylor vs. Serrano was also nominated for Sports Business Journal’s Event of the Year, a testament to the global reach and power of the event. Following the historic bout, Serrano defeated Sarah Mahfoud and Erika Cruz en-route to becoming the undisputed featherweight champion. She successfully defended her undisputed title in August 2023 against Heather Hardy before making history again, defeating Danila Ramos in October 2023 in the first-ever women’s unified world championship contested over 12 three-minute rounds—equal to a men’s championship fight. She threw a career-high 1,103 punches in the bout, solidifying her status as a trailblazer for gender equality in boxing. In recognition of her achievements inside and outside the ring, Serrano was named the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Female Fighter of the Year for 2023, as well as Sports Illustrated’s and Boxing Scene’s 2023 Women’s Fighter of the Year. She continued her dominance in July 2024, scoring a second-round knockout victory over Stevie Morgan in a super lightweight bout.

Serrano went on to face Katie Taylor in the most anticipated women’s boxing rematch in modern history in the co-main event of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card on Netflix in November 2024. The undisputed super lightweight title fight averaged 74 million live viewers globally and became the most-watched professional women’s sports event in US history with 47 million AMA in the US. The bout ended in a razor-thin decision victory for Taylor, sparking global debate and skyrocketing Serrano’s social following to over 1.2 million. #Serrano also trended at #2 on X in the US, Brazil, Spain, and Canada post-fight, further cementing her status as a global icon. Serrano then faced Taylor a third and final time atop an all-women’s event at Madison Square Garden, commanding the world’s attention once again on Netflix, continuing to break barriers for women in combat sports with a historic trilogy. Serrano made her long-awaited homecoming to Puerto Rico in a unified featherweight title defense of her WBO and WBA featherweight titles in January 2026, defeating challenger Reina Tellez.

“When MVP told me that Han and Holm were going to rematch in Stephanie’s home town of El Paso, I said I want to get on the card to support these two queens,” said Amanda Serrano. “Women’s boxing is growing on a global level, and fights like this, now on ESPN and contested in three-minute rounds, are proof of how far we’ve come. I respect every opponent who steps in the ring, and I know Hanson is coming to win and she has KO power. I’m also continuing to hunt the all-time knockout record, so that’s always on my mind, but everything starts with discipline, execution, and performing at the highest level on fight night. Stephanie Han is all class, and it is my pleasure to come to her city and make the walk before her on Saturday, May 30th. See you soon El Paso.”

Cheyenne “Pepper” Hanson is a hard-hitting 28-year-old German professional boxer from Augsburg, Bayern. The orthodox fighter, nicknamed “Pepper,” has established herself as one of Germany’s top female talents with an impressive 76% knockout ratio. Hanson is a former WBF world champion and currently the #4 WBO and #6 WBA contender in the featherweight division. Known for her aggressive style and knockout power, Hanson has collected her latest two wins by TKO in December 2025 and March 2026. Hanson signed with MVP in April 2026, and will now face Amanda Serrano in her promotional debut.

“I’m really excited and grateful for this fight,” said Cheyenne Hanson. “It means a lot to be representing Germany on this stage. Training camp is going to be hard but I’m focused. I respect my opponent, but I’m coming to make a statement.”

“MVPW-03 is absolutely stacked as we deliver a quadruple world championship card, highlighted by the highly anticipated ESPN debut of Amanda Serrano,” said Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, co-founders of MVP. “Amanda continues to set the global standard for women’s boxing, and matching her in a title defense against a dangerous knockout artist like Cheyenne Hanson creates a blockbuster double main event alongside Stephanie Han vs. Holly Holm. This is a powerful statement about where women’s boxing stands today. Add in the return of Desley Robinson and the expected war in the Mexico vs. Costa Rica matchup between Lourdes Juarez and Yokasta Valle, and this night is going to be fireworks in El Paso.”

Unified middleweight world champion Desley “Destroyer” Robinson has emerged as one of Australia’s top boxing talents. Originally stepping into the ring to improve her fitness, Robinson quickly proved she belonged at the elite level. Following over 50 amateur fights that saw her capture multiple Queensland and Australian titles, Robinson turned pro and earned her first title shot in just her seventh pro fight, resulting in a narrow majority decision loss against Lani Daniels in December 2023. Just one year later, Robinson rebounded in heroic fashion, fighting through a fractured foot to capture the vacant IBF female middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Kaye Scott in December 2024. She returned to the ring in April 2025 to unify the division, successfully defending her IBF belt and winning the vacant WBO title with a dominant performance against Chloe Chaos. Robinson, who fights out of Logan City, Queensland by way of Maranbah, Queensland, Australia, most recently defeated challenger Logan Holler by second round TKO in her promotional debut on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 16 Championship Double Header in October. She is also a single mother of three children.

“I am so excited to be part of MVPW-03, after watching MVPW-01 on the weekend,” said Desley Robinson. “I cannot wait to get back in there. I need a big win on a big stage against a big opponent and that is what I’m going to do. I can’t wait to get back over to Texas again. It is a privilege to be on the undercard to two great champions in Stephanie Han and Holly Holm.”

Windsor, Ontario native and a proud member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Mary Spencer is known for her physically imposing style, strong inside game and pressure fighting, all while serving as a leader and pioneer for Indigenous and Canadian women in boxing. As an amateur, she was widely regarded as the face of women’s amateur boxing in Canada. Her legendary career saw her become a 3x world champion, Pan American Games gold medalist, a multiple-time Canadian National Champion, and a 2012 Canadian Olympian. In September 2024, Spencer defeated Naomi Mannes by unanimous decision to win the interim WBA super welterweight title. She was then elevated to a full champion after the title was  vacated, and she made her first defense against Ogleidis Suárez in April 2025, winning by unanimous decision. Spencer most recently faced Mikaela Mayer in a title unification bout, putting her WBA title on the line alongside the then-vacant WBO and WBC super welterweight titles in October 2025 – a battle that went the distance and saw Mayer earn the decision win. Spencer remains focused on capturing and defending world titles while continuing to represent Canada and her Indigenous heritage on the global stage.

“I didn’t come this far to admire champions. Respect yes. Admire no! I came to take everything they have,” said Mary Spencer. “Belts don’t intimidate me. They motivate me. But on fight night, it’s not about rankings, records, or titles. It’s about who’s willing to go to a darker place. And I promise you… I live there.”

Lourdes “La Pequeña Lulu” Juarez is a two-division world champion from Mexico City. The younger sister of Mexican legend Mariana “La Barby” Juarez, she is part of one of only a few sister pairs in history to become boxing world champions, alongside the Serrano and Bermúdez sisters, and her sister Patty is also a world champion in bare-knuckle boxing. Turning pro in 2013, Juarez went undefeated for eight years, capturing the WBC super flyweight world title in December 2020 and making three successful defenses before regaining championship status in November 2024 by moving down to 108lbs to win the then-vacant WBC light flyweight crown. Ranked #2 in the world at 108 pounds by ESPN, she has faced six former world champions, balanced motherhood to her two sons, Dominik and Derek, and also trains and mentors new talent at her gym in Mexico City. She has also showcased her versatility with an exhibition win in Miami over Dutch MMA fighter Isis Verbeek. Juarez successfully defended her title in March 2025 by 9th round TKO before her latest successful defense against Yesica Nery Plata in October 2025.

“This will be a great war,” said Lourdes Juarez. “I won’t give away my belt, no way. I’m preparing for the fight of my life. I won’t go down. I don’t believe in good luck. I will go out there blasting.”

Yokasta Valle is a three-division world champion boxer born in Nicaragua and raised in Costa Rica. Growing up with limited resources and countless challenges in San Jose, Yokasta learned early on that nothing is given, and everything is earned. In a sport historically dominated by men, she carved her own path and fought to open doors for women in boxing. She won her first world title in 2016 and has gone on to conquer six world titles across three weight divisions, establishing herself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. She currently has held the WBC minimumweight title at 105lbs since November 2024. Valle has also championed equal pay in women’s boxing, fighting for and achieving the same purse conditions as male boxers. Outside the ring, the 32-year-old is an entrepreneur, boxing promoter, and social role model. In 2023, she was recognized by the United Nations as their Costa Rica Champion for the example she set in the fight for women’s and migrants’ rights. Valle is currently BoxRec and Ring Magazine’s and ESPN’s #9-ranked pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

“I’ve always wanted the biggest challenges and to fight the best. Moving up in weight to challenge a champion for her title is exactly the kind of opportunity that motivates me. This is a big challenge, just like every important fight I’ve had in my career, but I always prepare myself 200% to give everything I have in the ring,” said Yokasta Valle. “I know it’s going to be a war, because fighting a Mexican always means heart, toughness, and a great battle. I’ve already faced 12 or 13 Mexican fighters in my career, so I know exactly what kind of challenge they bring. I’ve been preparing in Mexico with my team, led by Panda, Jay Najar, and that gives me a lot of confidence going into this fight. I believe Lulu Juárez is the best Mexican fighter right now, so this is a huge test for me. Champion versus champion. That’s what women fighters always want, to face the best, and that is what makes women’s boxing even bigger. The opportunity to win my seventh world title motivates me in a special way, because I want to prove that I am the best.”
