MOST VALUABLE PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCES BLOCKBUSTER SIGNINGS OF BRITAIN’S TOP FEMALE BOXING STARS, IBF WORLD CHAMPION SAVANNAH MARSHALL AND WBC INTERIM CHAMPION CHANTELLE CAMERON

NEW YORK, NY – May 12, 2025 – In a groundbreaking move that cements Most Valuable Promotions’ (MVP) position as a powerhouse in global women’s boxing, the company welcomes two of the sport’s most accomplished champions, IBF and Ring Magazine super middleweight world champion at 168lbs Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall (13-1, 10 KOs) and WBC interim world super lightweight champion at 140lbs Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (20-1, 8 KOs). Marshall and Cameron join MVP’s unified super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney as the company continues to build the most dominant UK roster of female athletes. Both former undisputed champions, Marshall and Cameron join MVP at a pivotal moment for the sport, as MVP now boasts four of BoxRec and ESPN’s current top 10 pound-for-pound women’s fighters.

IBF and Ring Magazine super middleweight world champion Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall (13-1, 10 KOs) is a two-weight world champion, formerly the undisputed super middleweight world champion in 2023 at 168lbs and WBO middleweight champion from 2020 to 2022 at 160lbs. Marshall began her boxing journey at age 12 before making history as Britain’s first-ever female amateur world champion at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2012, handing Claressa Shields the only defeat of her career on her way to the gold, sparking one of boxing’s most talked-about rivalries. Marshall went on to compete for Team Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics before winning gold again at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and returning to represent the UK at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Following her impressive amateur career, Marshall turned professional in 2017, making her debut against Sydney LeBlanc on the high-profile undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor in Las Vegas. In October 2020, she captured the WBO middleweight world title with a dominant TKO victory over Hannah Rankin, handing her fellow Brit the only stoppage defeat of her career. Marshall successfully defended her title three times, winning every bout with a knockout finish before at last meeting Claressa Shields in the ring in October 2022. The bout headlined the first-ever all-female boxing card in the United Kingdom, attracting a record-breaking audience of over two million viewers on Sky Sports, the largest live TV audience for a women’s sporting event in Sky Sports history. Despite a valiant effort, Marshall lost by decision to Shields. Following the bout, Marshall moved up to the super middleweight division at 168 lbs to face Franchón Crews-Dezurn in July 2023 and became the undisputed super middleweight world champion. In 2024, Marshall also made her MMA debut in the PFL, continuing to prove her combat sports dominance as she won by first round TKO. Marshall resides in Hartlepool, England and trains under renowned boxing coach Peter Fury.

“I’m delighted to say I’m now part of MVP – who, more than any other promoter, recognise the value that women bring to this sport,” said Savannah Marshall. “Through Jake and Nakisa, they also have a very unique, refreshing approach to the fight game. They think out of the box. They’re different. And boxing overall benefits from such trailblazers. It’s an exciting time to join their team alongside so many other accomplished female fighters. As a two-weight world champion and previously achieving Undisputed, it only feels natural to be here, and I cannot wait to begin fighting under their banner.”

Former undisputed super lightweight champion at 140lbs and current WBC interim world super lightweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (20-1, 8 KOs) is one of the most-recognized names in women’s boxing. Born in Northampton, UK, the 33-year-old began her combat sports career in kickboxing at the age of 10 and later muay thai at age 16 after being inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and films featuring prominent movie star and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme. Throughout her amateur career she boasted an undefeated record with titles across kickboxing before taking up boxing at age 18, immediately showing her potential by winning silver at the 2010 EU Championships in Hungary and bronze at the 2011 EU Championships in Poland. Cameron made her professional debut in boxing in May 2017 with a sound defeat of Karina Kopinska, launching her meteoric rise in the sport. In just her fifth professional fight in December 2017, Cameron earned her first title honors, securing the then-vacant IBO lightweight world title by stoppage over Viviane Obenauf. In 2020, Cameron moved up to contend for the then-vacant WBC super lightweight world title, soundly dismantling Adriana Dos Santos Araujo by unanimous decision to become a two-division champion. Following a successful first defense, Cameron unified her titles against Mary McGee in October 2021, earning a unanimous decision win to add the IBF and Ring Magazine titles to her WBC super lightweight hardware. Just over a year later in November 2022, Cameron successfully defeated Jessica McCaskill to become the undisputed super lightweight champion at 140 lbs. Cameron’s undisputed reign came to head as she sparked her rivalry with Ireland’s Katie Taylor in May 2023 and the pair faced down on Taylor’s home soil in Dublin. Cameron came away with a majority decision victory, successfully defending her undisputed crown and setting the stage for the pair’s rematch in November, another hard-fought battle resulting in a majority decision for Taylor. Cameron returned to the ring in July 2024 with her sights still set on the super lightweight division, defeating Elhem Mekhaled to secure the WBC interim super lightweight title. Cameron most recently defended her title in November 2024 against Patricia Berghult, taking home another unanimous decision win. Cameron, currently ESPN’s #4 and Boxrec’s #8 pound-for–pound women’s boxer in the world, resides in Northampton, England and trains under Stephen Smith.

“I’m very excited about this move. MVP has been nothing but encouraging in talks regarding myself and female boxing,” said Chantelle Cameron. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the next stage of my career and an unbelievable platform to showcase my boxing ability. I’d like to thank Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul, and the whole MVP team for making this whole transition very easy for me.”

Most Valuable Promotions is expanding its commitment to women’s boxing in 2025 with the signings of champions Savannah Marshall and Chantelle Cameron, following its historic lifetime agreement with seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano, who will complete her career under the MVP banner before becoming Chairwoman of MVP’s women’s boxing initiatives. In this new role, Serrano will lead efforts to identify, sign, develop, and market MVP’s growing roster of female athletes. MVP also announced the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano trilogy fight, set for Friday, July 11 at Madison Square Garden and airing globally on Netflix, which will headline MSG’s first-ever all-women’s card and feature record-breaking purses for both fighters.

“Savannah Marshall and Chantelle Cameron are world-class athletes who represent the best of women’s boxing and the proud tradition of UK champions. Now, alongside Ellie Scotney, MVP represents the most dominant roster of UK women’s athletes in boxing,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “Like Amanda Serrano and Alycia Baumgardner, Savannah and Chantelle have reached the pinnacle of the sport by becoming undisputed champions—giving them the experience, perspective, and platform to lead the next generation. We look forward to announcing their MVP debuts in the coming weeks.”

Marshall and Cameron join MVP’s elite roster of athletes and up-and-coming talents including international superstar Jake “El Gallo” Paul, boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, undisputed super featherweight world champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner, MVP’s first homegrown champion, the new WBO Super Middleweight Champion Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green, reigning unified bantamweight world champion and Boxrec’s #1 pound-for-pound female boxer Dina Thorslund, English boxing phenom and unified 122lb super bantamweight world champion Ellie Scotney, IBF bantamweight world champion at 118lbs Shurretta Metcalf (14-4-1, 2 KOs), Spain’s WBA Interim featherweight world champion at 126lbs Jennifer Miranda (12-0, 1 KO), multi-talented megastar Javon “Wanna” Walton, India’s most successful professional boxer Neeraj Goyat, top-ranked lightweight “Prince” Lucas Bahdi, Puerto Rican sensation Krystal Rosado, three-time US national boxing champion and high-fashion model Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro, Puerto Rican National Team star Jan Paul Rivera, 2x Canadian Olympian and amateur world champion Tamm Thibeault, 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “The Alley Cat” Gueche, Nigeria’s 126lb featherweight Elizabeth Oshoba, the multi-talented Somali-British boxer, activist, and high fashion model Ramla Ali, Costa Rica’s 20-year-old undefeated WBC Youth light flyweight world champion Naomy Valle, 15x US national amateur champion Nat “No Love”’ Dove, and two-time Brazilian Olympian Keno Marley

UNBEATEN AMATEUR WORLD CHAMPION TIAH-MAI AYTON SIGNS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM

Teenage amateur sensation Tiah-Mai Ayton will turn professional with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing after the 18-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term promotional deal.

The Super-Bantamweight from Bristol is set to make her pro debut this summer following the conclusion of a glittering career in the amateurs in which she amassed an impressive unblemished 21-0 record.

Ayton, trained by Dean Lewis out of the Weston Warriors ABC and managed by Brian Peters, won the Haringey Box Cup in June 2024 at the 60kg Lightweight limit, stopping her opponents in the semi-final and final.

She went on to claim gold in the 57kg weight category at the World Championships in Colorado, USA in November, defeating India’s Anjali Singh via a unanimous decision in the final.

A five-time National Champion, Ayton was brought into Skye Nicolson’s camp as a sparring partner ahead of the Australian’s WBC Featherweight World Title clash with Tiara Brown in Sydney.

As well as an outstanding career in amateur boxing, Ayton also excelled in several other combat sports, becoming a World Champion in kickboxing and Muay Thai at the age of just ten.

“I’ve always wanted to turn pro with Eddie Hearn since I was a little girl,” said Ayton. “I think he’s got a message from me from like three or four years ago where I asked, ‘one day can you sign me?’ Today is the day I’m signed with him.

“I did get offered a Team GB contract, but I turned it down because I don’t suit the amateur style. I thought I may as well turn pro. I want those belts. I’ve had over 300 fights and I’m undefeated in amateur boxing. I think it’s time to step into the pros now.

“I’ve always had a professional style in the amateurs. I believe I’m destined for greatness in the pro game. Why not start now while I’m young? I sit on my shots and I’m powerful. I don’t jump around a lot and I’m not tippy tappy.

“I think the young fighters coming through the ranks just keep getting better and better every year. It’s our time to shine. I hope to make my professional debut in June or July. Hopefully you’ll see me then. I plan to make a statement.

“Fans will like watching me because I’ll knock people out and I’ll keep it entertaining for you lot. I think I can become an undisputed World Champion, winning a few World Titles in different categories.”

“Tiah-Mai Ayton is destined to become the next superstar of women’s boxing,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Her amateur record across multiple combat sports, not just boxing, is astounding, and she is hungry to get her professional boxing career underway as soon as possible.

“Tiah could have waited for the Olympic Games, but she believes she will become a multi-weight World Champion so there was no point in delaying. This is going to be an incredibly exciting journey, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.”

HUGE HOMECOMING FOR KIERAN MOLLOY: HE HEADLINES GALWAY’S PEARSE STADIUM AGAINST FORMER BRITISH TITLE CHALLENGER KAISEE BENJAMIN ON SATURDAY JUNE 28TH

Galway, Ireland (May 12th, 2025) – A hero’s homecoming awaits Galway’s Kieran Molloy (11-0, 6 KOs) as he headlines GBM: GALWAY GLORY – MOLLOY vs BENJAMIN at Pearse GAA Stadium on Saturday, June 28th in a clash with former British title challenger Kaisee Benjamin (18-4-1, 6 KOs).

Presented by GBM Sports and broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN, the card also features a European Light-Heavyweight Championship clash between Shakan Pitters (20-2, 7 KOs) and Brad Rea (20-1, 10 KOs), alongside Westmeath’s 2016 Olympian Joe Ward (12-1, 8 KO’s) in a high-stakes bout against former IBO world champion Lerrone Richards (18-1, 4 KOs).

Last month, Molloy secured the sixth stoppage win of his career with a clinical fifth-round finish at London’s York Hall. Now, he returns home to face Birmingham’s Benjamin, who narrowly lost a decision for the IBF European Welterweight title in his last fight and is known for his technical skills and ring intelligence.

“If you’re a young lad growing up in Galway, Pearse Stadium is the home of your heroes. One of my favourite daydreams as a youngster starting out in boxing was one day walking out into a packed Pearse Stadium and hearing Galway roar. On Saturday June 28th I get to live that dream for real and I can’t wait,” said Molloy.

“Galway people really get behind their own – whether it’s hurling, football or boxing – and I am so grateful for all the support I get. I am looking forward to going out there and putting on a great show for everyone and making a big statement about my intentions to bring major world titles to Galway.”

GBM promoter Izzy Asif, a former footballer and professional boxer from Sheffield, is Molloy’s biggest backer.

“Kieran Molloy has got all the makings of a megastar – much like Barry McGuigan back in the day, he appeals to everyone from fight fans to little old ladies. He’s an incredible mixture of cold technical ability and ferocious killer instinct, but he’s also the nicest young man you could meet. He’s a great ambassador for his sport and his county,” said Asif.

“We’re proud and excited at GBM to be giving this future world champion a homecoming like this. He’s got a tough test against the very experienced Kaisee Benjamin. It’s going to be a hell of a fight and an electric atmosphere inside the famous Pearse Stadium on Saturday, June 28th.”

Molloy, who hails from Oughterard, County Galway, joined his local boxing club at age five and quickly stood out as a natural talent. His amateur career included 200 wins in 221 bouts, 11 Irish national titles, and three Irish Elite Championships before turning professional.

The Galway event follows GBM’s stadium show at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium on May 23rd, where Terri Harper defends her WBO World Lightweight title – previously held by Ireland’s Katie Taylor – against unbeaten German contender Natalie Zimmerman.

Tickets for the June 28th Galway event go on sale this week, with pricing and availability to be confirmed in the coming days.

Walsh Reigns Supreme: Edges Williams to earn WBC 130-lbs title

MASHANTUCKET, CT – “King” Kevin Walsh (17-0, 9 KOs) vanquished the last of his regional rivals on Saturday night, winning a hard fought 10-round majority decision over Tremaine “The Mighty Midget” Williams (20-3, 6 KOs) at the Premier Theater in Foxwoods Resort Casino
With the win, Walsh added the WBC US Silver Super Featherweight title to his growing collection.

“Hats off to Williams, he’s a hell of a fighter,” said Brockton, MA’s Walsh, who stopped cross-town rival Irvin Gonzalez in 4 rounds last November to win the New England Super Featherweight title and followed up that impressive win with an electrifying 8th round knockout over Rhode Island’s Ricky de los Santos in February to pick up the WBC US Silver Featherweight title.  “I got the knockdown in round 4, and I think it was the difference.”

It very well may have been.  Other than the knockdown, the bout was fought on even terms over 10 rounds.  The contest began with a battle of the jabs as each man looked to establish ring generalship.

Walsh began to pressure Williams in round 3, and the former world title challenger from New Haven, CT responded with a counter left hand and several left jabs.  Just when the ‘Mighty Midget’ was settling into the fight, Walsh went on the offensive in round 4, landing a leaping right hand that dropped Williams.  The Brockton native looked to follow up, but the crafty Williams responded with a left hand and a short right hook to stave off further punishment.

The bout became a tense chess match during the middle rounds, with each fighter working angles to gain an edge.  Walsh picked up the pace in round 8, but the southpaw Williams responded with quick left hands before evading the incoming fire.

Walsh likely sealed the deal in rounds 9 and 10, pushing the pace of the fight and desperately trying to hurt his foe.  After 10 hard rounds, the crowd waited tensely as the announcer read the judges’ scorecards, with 2 judges seeing the fight 95-94 and 96-93 for Walsh, overruling the third judge who scored the fight 96-93 for Williams.

‘Savage’ Steven Sumpter stops Janer Gonzalez to win WBC 168-lbs title

In the night’s co-feature, “Savage” Steven Sumpter (11-1-1, 9 KOs) earned the vacant WBC US Silver Super Middleweight title, knocking out grizzled veteran Janer Gonzalez (23-8-1, 19 KOs) in round 6 of a scheduled 8 round bout.  Sumpter, of Lawrence, MA, took his time in figuring out the Miami based Colombian, patiently stalking him over the first few rounds looking for opportunities to counter.

“I was trying to bait him in and see what he had,” explained Sumpter after the bout.  “I wanted him to walk into something.”

The southpaw began sitting on his punches in round 5, landing a heavy left hand that Gonzalez shook off.  Attempting to turn the tide, Gonzalez began moving forward in round 6, trapping Sumpter in the corner.  It turned out to be a costly mistake, as Sumpter landed a counter left hand that put Gonzalez on the canvas.  The Colombian beat the count and proceeded to trade, but another left hand dropped him hard, causing the stoppage at 1:42 of round 6.

Other results

Polish prospect Slawomir “The Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz improved to 6-0 (5), dropping Russell Harris (6-2, 6 KOs) twice in the 6th and final round for a last-minute stoppage.  The contest began with the taller Bohdziewicz plodding forward behind a left jab and heavy hooks and right hands, while the smaller, stockier Harris looked to counter with looping shots.  Bohdziewicz’s thudding shots began to take effect on the St. Louis native in round 5, as the exhausted southpaw desperately tried to survive Slaw’s onslaught. The Stamford, CT native finally broke through in round 6, dropping Harris with a jab, right hand combination. Harris beat the count, but Slaw dug a piercing left hook to Harris’ body that immediately dropped the Missourian to a knee, causing Harvey Dock to stop the bout at 2:15.

We already knew that Jacob “Lefty” Marrero (9-0, 7 KOs) was talented. Now we know that he can also overcome adversity.  The Bridgeport, CT native took on New York’s Wilfredo Flores (11-5-1, 5 KOs) in a battle of lightweights.  Marrero came out fast, landing quick counter left hands against the New Yorker.  Lefty hurt Flores in round 3, but the Mexican American shook it off and attempted to walk him down in round 4.  Flores almost stuck gold in round 5, staggering Marrero with a left hand.  The Bridgeport native leaned against the ropes, quickly composed himself and began to box, landing sharp counter shots.  Flores was never able to replicate his early success, as the quicker Marrero boxed intelligently while landing stinging lefts and rights.  Scores after 8 rounds were 79-73 (3x).

Highly touted heavyweight prospect Ali Feliz (6-0, 5 KOs) survived a scare, appearing to injure his knee after trading punches with Brandon Carmack (8-8-2, 5 KOs) in round 1 of their 6-round contest.  The bout continued after a few anxious minutes, with Feliz launching a series of head shots that dropped Carmack.  The Missouri native rose only to continue absorbing punishment, taking a knee later in the round from a big right hand.  Danbury, CT’s Feliz went in for the finish in round 2, dropping Carmack twice more, the second with a right uppercut to the stomach that dropped Carmack for good.  Time was 1:31 of round 2.

With boyhood hero Peter Manfredo Jr. looking on, Will Guilmette destroyed Tymar Miles (0-6) in his highly anticipated debut, dropping the New Yorker 3 times for a first-round knockout. The Coventry native wasted little time in making a statement, dropping Miles seconds into the fight with a left hook.  Miles beat the count, but a right to the body put him back on the canvas.  The New Yorker rose to his feet again, but the follow up assault dropped him a third time, causing referee Bryan Miner to halt the bout at 1:08 of round 1.

In an all-out war, Victor Reynoso (11-0, 7 KOs), of Providence, RI, outslugged Florida’s Chris Puryear (5-3) over 6 vicious rounds.  Reynoso launched a sneaky counter right uppercut in round 3 that dropped Puryear to his knees.  The Floridian beat the count and responded by launching his own attack in round 4, stunning Reynoso with an overhand right.  The pugilists continued to trade punches in rounds 5 and 6 before a massive right hand dropped Puryear a second time.  Puryear again beat the count, and the bloody fighters resumed trading power shots until the final bell.  Scores were 58-54 (3x).

Someone’s ‘0’ had to go when unbeaten middleweights Douglas Marroquin (6-0, 3 KOs) and Tremaine Jones (3-1, 3 KOs)collided in a 4-round slugfest.  Marroquin, a Guatemalan and Mexican fighter based in Stamford, CT, slowly broke down Jones, launching a body assault in round 1 and walking down his taller opponent behind intelligent pressure and short shots beginning in round 2.  Marroquin hit paydirt in round 3, staggering the Louisiana native with a huge right hand to the head and following up with a relentless assault.  A right to the body doubled Jones over, but he bravely absorbed the shot and survived to see the final bell.  Scores were 40-36 (3x).

Joseph Chisholm
(5-0, 5 KOs)continued his string of first round knockouts, blasting out Markist Taylor (1-2)in quick succession. “J-Elite” was too much for Taylor, landing a 3-punch combination punctuated by a right hand to the body that dropped the St. Louis native for the count.  Time of the stoppage was 1:09 of round 1

New Haven, CT’s Carlos Perez (4-0) kept his perfect record intact, pounding out a 4-round decision over Florida’s Shaquille Rushing (0-4-1).  After 2 competitive rounds, “Carlito’s Way” took control of the fight, landing 3 and 4 punch combinations to Grant’s head and body to secure the jr. welterweight bout by scores of 40-36 (3x).

Kevante Wineglass
(2-0, 1 KO) picked up his first knockout, detonating a huge right hand to the head to drop debuting LaTraveon Grant (0-1) in round 2 of their jr. welterweight bout.  Grant survived the round, but the bout was stopped after round 3 on the doctor’s recommendation.

In his pro debut, Norwalk, CT based Venezuelan Victor Guerra (1-0, 1 KO) knocked out Lucien Hannah (0-4) in 3 rounds of their jr. middleweight scrap.  The boxers took turns hurting one another with right hands in round 3, Hannah early in the round and Guerra towards the end.  Guerra, of Wilmer Mendez Boxing, took advantage of his hurt opponent, following up with a two-fisted assault to the head and body that had the exhausted Hannah reeling. The New Yorker wisely chose not to continue after round 3.

David Marshall Jr.
(1-0, 1 KO) made his pro debut a successful one, stopping Gabriel Costa (4-9-1, 4 KOs) in round 2 of their heavyweight bout. “Marshall Law” stunned Costa with a right hand in round 1. The Bristol, RI native dropped Costa twice in round 2, the first with a blistering left hook to the body, and the second with a heavy left hook to the head that convinced referee Harvey Dock to wave off the bout at 2:25 of round 2.

VITOR BELFORT NAMED TO UFC® HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2025

Las Vegas – UFC® today announced that former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC® 12 heavyweight tournament winner Vitor Belfort will be inducted into the 2025 Class of the UFC Hall of

Fame as a Pioneer. The 2025 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place as part of the 13th Annual UFC International Fight WeekÔ, on Thursday, June 26, at T-Mobile Arena, and will be streamed live, exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS®.

“Vitor Belfort was 19 years when he was signed by UFC and he quickly made an impact by becoming the youngest athlete to win a UFC fight, and UFC tournament,” said UFC President & CEO Dana White. “Vitor was a pioneer of the sport and is definitely a UFC legend. It will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.”

Belfort will enter the UFC Hall of Fame as the 20th member of the Pioneer Era Wing. The Pioneer Era Wing includes athletes who turned professional before November 17, 2000, (when the unified rules of mixed martial arts were adopted). Other requirements include a minimum age of 35 or those who have been retired for one year or more.

A veteran of 41 fights during his 22-year MMA career, Belfort registered a record of 26-14,1 NC (20-14,1 NC – UFC / PRIDE / Strikeforce), securing victories over UFC Hall of Famers Wanderlei SilvaRandy CoutureRich FranklinMichael Bisping, and Dan Henderson (Fight Wing); former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth, former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt, and former Pancrase heavyweight champion Kazuo Takahashi.

At age 19, Belfort made his professional MMA debut on October 11, 1996, by competing in SuperBrawl 2 in Hawaii. Despite a seven-inch height discrepancy and 100-pound. weight disadvantage, Belfort defeated his opponent, Jon Hess, via knockout in 12 seconds of the first round to launch his career. He immediately signed with UFC following his victory.

Belfort made his UFC debut as a heavyweight by entering the tournament of UFC® 12: JUDGEMENT DAY, which took place on February 7, 1997, in Dothan, Alabama. He defeated his opponents, Tra Telligman and Scott Ferrozzo, both via first-round TKO, to win the heavyweight tournament.

Belfort returned to action three months later, defeating fan favorite Tank Abbott via TKO in 52 seconds during UFC® 13: THE ULTIMATE FORCE, which took place on May 30, 1997, in Augusta, Georgia. The win helped establish Belfort as a rising star and earned him a fight against Couture at UFC 15.

UFC® 15: COLLISION COURSE tookplace on October 17, 1997, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Belfort and Couture faced off in the co-main event with the winner facing then-UFC heavyweight champion and future UFC Hall of Famer Maurice Smith at UFC Japan.

Couture would defeat Belfort via TKO eight minutes into the first round to hand him his first loss as a professional. Belfort would win his next two fights against Joe Charles and Wanderlei Silva at UFC Japan (December 21, 1997) and UFC Brazil (October 16, 1998), respectively, bringing his record to 6-1. His fight with Couture would also set the stage for two exciting rematches down the road, as both athletes would continue to ascend in popularity.

For the next three years, Belfort won four of his next five fights in PRIDE, with his only loss to future UFC Hall of Famer Kazushi Sakuraba.

Belfort returned to UFC as a light heavyweight on June 22, 2002, losing a decision to UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC® 37.5: AS REAL AS IT GETS. He would return to his winning form one year later, defeating Marvin Eastman via TKO in the first round of UFC® 43: MELTDOWN, on June 6, 2003, in Las Vegas.

The win earned him his first title shot and a rematch against Couture in the main event of UFC 46. UFC® 46: SUPERNATURAL took place on January 31, 2004, in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated fight was cut short due to a doctor stoppage 49 seconds into the first round, and Belfort was crowned the new UFC light heavyweight champion.

Belfort would give Couture an immediate rematch at UFC® 49: UNFINISHED BUSINESS on August 21, 2004, in Las Vegas, where he would lose the title due to doctor stoppage in the third round. He would lose his next fight to future UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz in the main event of UFC® 51: SUPER SATURDAY on February 5, 2005, ending his second stint with UFC.

Over the next four years, he would win six of his next nine fights across numerous fight promotions, including Strikeforce and PRIDE, before returning to UFC to face Franklin in the main event of UFC® 103: FRANKLIN vs. BELFORT. Belfort would win his return fight with a memorable KO of Franklin, re-establishing himself as a star inside the Octagon.

For the next nine years, Belfort would compete against the top contenders in the UFC middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. He would fight for both titles, losing to UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.  He also secured unforgettable victories over Bisping, Rockhold, Henderson and Anthony Johnson during this stretch. His last victory came in 2017, as he defeated Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision at UFC® 212: ALDO vs. HOLLOWAY, in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. He retired after his next fight, losing via KO to former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida during UFC® 224: NUNES vs. PENNINGTON on May 12, 2018, in Rio.

Belfort enters the UFC Hall of Fame with an impressive resume that includes:

UFC:

  • Most first-round finishes in UFC history – 13

  • Knockouts in 90 seconds or less – 10

  • 18 first-round finishes in 26 career wins

Outside the Octagon, Belfort is an accomplished author, having his autobiography Vitor Belfort: Lições de garra, fé e sucesso published by Thomas Nelson Brazil in 2012. In 2013, he won the Knockout of the Year for his KO of Luke Rockhold in the main event of UFC® on FX: BELFORT vs. ROCKHOLD during the Fighters Only World MMA Awards. Belfort also spent time inside the boxing ring, winning both of his professional matches in 2006 and 2023.

HIGHLY-TOUTED BANTAMWEIGHT ADAM MACA SIGNS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

Explosive Bantamweight prospect Adam Maca has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and is set to make his eagerly anticipated professional debut on the undercard of the IBF Super-Lightweight World Title clash between Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos Jr at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 14, live worldwide on DAZN

The highly-touted talent, 17, earned a fearsome reputation in the amateur ranks by becoming a two-time Junior European Champion and five-time National Champion. At world level, he picked up a silver medal while representing his birth country, Albania.

Now based in Brighton, the Sam Jones-managed fighter trains out of the Ropes and Glory Gym in Chatham under the guidance of Dan Woledge. Maca becomes the latest addition to Matchroom’s UK stable following the signing of Heavyweight sensation Leo Atang.

“I feel like Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom team are the perfect fit for me,” said Maca. “They’re constantly pushing their fighters for better things – bigger shows, iconic venues and huge fights. They’re always striving for greatness like me.

“I was on the Albanian Olympic team. I could have waited for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles but that’s not what I wanted to do. Since I’ve been a little boy, I’ve wanted to be a professional boxer. I’m following my dreams.

“I feel my style is suited to the pro game because I don’t just come to score points and win by decision. I come to put on a show and know you out every time. The fans are going to love watching me fight.

“There’s been a lot of sacrifices along the way with my parents and family missing time off work to support my dreams. They too me all over the world to National Championships, European Championships and World Championships.

“I know I have what it takes to reach the very top of this sport, and I’ll repay the dedication they’ve shown me. I’ll become an undisputed World Champion one day, without a doubt.”

“Adam Maca is another hugely exciting addition to our growing stable of talent,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Adam possesses explosive power for his age and possesses all of the attributes that are guaranteed to make him a fan favourite. He looks to put on a show and deliver eye-catching knockouts every time he steps in the ring. Naturally, there was a lot of interest in securing Adam’s signature, and I’m delighted he has chosen us to guide his career. It all gets underway on the huge Richardson vs. Kambosos Jr card in New York on June 14 – don’t miss it!”

“Adam Maca is a fighter that every manager and promoter on this planet wanted to sign,” said Jones. “This kid has superstar potential and will be a natural fit to the professional code. Even as an amateur Adam was knocking opponents clean out, so with those 8oz gloves he is going to cause absolute chaos! This is a huge signing for Matchroom, and I can’t wait to watch his pro journey get underway at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on June 14 – live worldwide on DAZN. It doesn’t get much bigger than that.”

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 8, 2025) — Mexico’s fighting cowboy returns to his home away from home to reignite a storied rivalry with an unbeaten Filipino challenger.

Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOs) will defend his WBO junior lightweight world title against Charly Suarez (18-0, 10 KOs) this Saturday at Pechanga Arena San Diego, the latest chapter in the Mexico vs. Philippines fistic saga.

In the co-feature, SoCal native Raymond Muratalla (22-0, 17 KOs) and Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev (20-1, 12 KOs) will collide for the vacant IBF interim lightweight world title.

Navarrete-Suarez and Muratalla-Abdullaev will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The ESPN+-streamed undercard will begin at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT and features the return of junior lightweight contender Andres Cortes (22-0, 12 KOs), who takes on Spain’s Salvador Jimenez (14-1-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-rounder.

Additionally, San Diego’s hometown hero Giovani Santillan (33-1, 18 KOs) will square off against Mexico’s Angel Beltran (18-2, 11 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight clash, while newly-signed 19-year-old junior bantamweight prodigy Perla Bazaldua (1-0, 1 KO) makes her Top Rank debut in a four-rounder against Mona Ward (0-1).

Promoted by Top Rank, tickets are on sale via AXS.com.

At Thursday’s press conference, this is what the fighters said:

Emanuel Navarrete

“My performance against Oscar Valdez was my way of showing that I’m now at 100 percent. There’s no doubt about that now. So, all we have to do is prepare well to achieve my goals.”

“We know what happened the last time I was in San Diego. We did not get the victory. We lost against Denys Berinchyk in our attempt to win a title at 135 pounds. But now, defending at 130 pounds, we want to let the people know I’m ready to move forward with my career.”

“I prepared for a great fight. We know that Suarez is coming for my title. So I want a great fight so everyone can see I’m ready to continue on the path of victory.”

“We have to defend my title first. We’re going to work hard and take the title home. After, we’ll see if I stay at 130 or move up again.”

Charly Suarez

“I prayed for this fight. And here it is. The opportunity has come, and I have taken it. And we won’t lose.”

“I’m bringing all my amateur experience into this fight. This is it. The world title shot is here, so I’m ready and I’m excited for the fight on Saturday.”

“This is a good opportunity for me to represent my country and to show the world that Filipinos are good at boxing and that Filipinos and Mexicans put on great fights.”

Raymond Muratalla

“I’m ready to go. It’s been a long time. I’ve been putting in work. My time is here. So I’m shining on Saturday.”

“We know he’s tough. We know he’s coming to fight. But I’m fully prepared for whatever he brings.”

“A win on Saturday would be huge for my family and team. I’ve been dreaming of this since I was a kid.”

Zaur Abdullaev

“I’m happy to return to the United States after five years. And I’m ready to finally become a world champion.”

“I started my training camp out in the mountains. And I finished camp out here in California. I’m ready to do anything to win.”

“Muratalla is a very good fighter. I’ve watched many of his fights. But I’m ready to overcome this challenge.”

Andres Cortes

“There’s level to this. I’m going to show that I’m at the top.”

“I dream about this every night. I’ve dedicated my whole life to this sport. This is what I do. So, I’m ready to get back in there.”

“When you bet on me, it’s a guaranteed bet. If you want to make some money, take me by knockout.”

Salvador Jimenez

“There’s nowhere better to be than in the Mecca of boxing, the United States. This opportunity has come to me because God’s timing is perfect.”

“I am a warrior. I like to brawl. I can box in any way he wants, but I like to be in wars.”

Giovani Santillan

“I’m excited to be back here in San Diego. Every time I come to San Diego, I give everything I have. I leave it in the ring.”

On the last year, including loss to Brian Norman Jr.

“It was tough. We went through some hard moments with my fight last year in San Diego and some things that happened with my family towards the end of the year. But I’m resilient, and my dad raised me to always work hard and always have faith and hope. I’m back here, and I’m excited for this weekend.”

“Right now, I’m on the climb back up to another world title shot. I want another world title shot, and I’m ready for it already. I have to focus on this weekend, and I hope to get that soon.”

Perla Bazaldua

“Signing with Top Rank, one of the biggest promotional companies out there, was one of my dreams. Finally getting that contract and now performing on this stage is such a motivation, especially in this camp.

ROLLY ROMERO MEDIA ROUNDTABLE QUOTES

LOS ANGELES – May 8, 2025 – Fresh off his dominating performance last Friday night, WBA Welterweight Champion Rolly Romero held a media roundtable in Los Angeles on Wednesday to discuss his title-winning triumph over Ryan Garcia and more.

Having now picked up titles at 135, 140 and 147 pounds, Romero stole the show in New York City by earning a unanimous decision over the betting favorite Garcia. Romero scored the highlight of the night by connecting on a pair of left hooks in round two that dropped Garcia and set the tone for the rest of the bout.

Romero rode that early knockdown and a consistent body attack to the victory, landing 45 of his 57 total punches landed to the body, according to CompuBox stats. He also showed impressive defensive prowess, limiting the usually explosive Garcia to just 18 power punches landed across the 12 rounds.

Romero also appeared on stage Wednesday and was recognized for his achievements before the start of the press conference for the May 31 PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video event headlined by Caleb Plant vs. Armando Reséndiz and Jermall Charlo vs. Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna. Here is what Romero had to say Wednesday from The Mayan in Los Angeles:

ROLLY ROMERO

“I have two losses and they both came from big fights. Those losses haven’t derailed me from anything. They can’t slow me down. Every time you think I’m gone, I’m gonna come back again and again…These other guys are fighting for the money, but I fight for belts and for legacy.

“If Ryan wants to do a rematch we can do it. I don’t know if he’s mentally ready for a rematch and I know he has other obligations. I don’t know if people are too interested in seeing that other rematch, but if you have obligations, you should honor your obligations.

“I know Ryan too well. I knew exactly how he was gonna come and where he was gonna come. I think even he was surprised with how well I knew him.

“I neutralized his left hook. The second he threw one left hook, what happened? He got dropped and he never threw it again. The only reason he didn’t get knocked out is because he was fighting to survive.

“When I was fighting at 135, I really should have been at 140, and then when I was at 140, I really should have been at 147. I was calling out Errol Spence Jr. and wanted to skip 140. I should have been at 147 for a very long time. I think it’s apparent. I mean how do I move up in weight and get a lot faster and more explosive. You usually get slower when you move up in weight.

“You didn’t really see me have to box early on in my career, because I was flatlining people in the first few rounds.

“The jab to the body is the money punch to me. That punch will break down anyone little by little. I’ve dropped people with it.

“Ryan gave me his best. That was a focused Ryan Garcia. He didn’t do any of the stuff that he had done for his last night. Is anyone saying he wasn’t focused in camp? That’s because Ryan takes me seriously. He knows me.

“Anything regarding me being the face of boxing I agree with.”

Undefeated Kansas Boxing Phenom Marco “El Tiburón” Romero To continue touring, Topeka debut May 24

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 8, 2025) – The Magical Mystery Tour for Kansas boxing phenom Marco “El Tiburón” Romero (6-0, 5 KOs) will make a new stop on Saturday, May 24th, when the 19-year-old super middleweight faces upset specialist Noah Kidd in a six-round bout outdoors at Energy Plaza in downtown Topeka, Kansas.

Not only is this event considerably closer to his Olathe (KS) home than anywhere Romero has fought so far as a professional, but it is also a widely successful annual show that has reportedly drawn 8,000 fans.

“I’m super excited, pumped up to fight only a 45-minute drive from my hometown for my fans,” Romero said. “They don’t need to drive 15 hours like they have or fly cross country. I’m really going to put on a show for my hometown fans. It’ll be nice to hear hometown fans cheering me on. Other than relatives who live in Denver, I made a few new fans in the other places I’ve fought. They’re starting to know who I am, and it’s really cool for people to come up to me saying they follow me.”

The 29-year-old Kidd (10-13-2, 5 KOs), fighting out of Jefferson, Missouri, recently knocked off then-18-0 Deshawn Prather by way of a 6-round unanimous decision.

“This will be Marco’s seventh fight in a year since turning pro because we have Marco on a fast track due to his vast amateur experience and desire to stay active and improve,” Romero’s legendary manager/trainer John Brown explained. “We are hopeful that Noah Kidd can withstand Marco’s shark (Marco’s nickname, ‘El Tiburón’ means ‘The Shark’ in English) bites and give him several rounds of good work.”

As a professional, the 23-time national amateur champion Romero has fought in Portland, Maine and Denver twice apiece, Tampa and Atlantic City. His aggressive schedule tentatively continues after Topeka on June 14 in Portland (ME), June 27 in Wichita (KS), July 25 in Atlantic City, September 6 in Olathe and back to Portland (ME) on November 8.

“I love fighting this schedule, fighting every month or two,” Romero noted. “Maybe over time with all the wear and tear could tire me. But I was born to box; it’s my dream. Whoever Coach John (Brown) puts in front of me; I tell him I got him.

“I do think about when I’ll be fighting only twice a year for a lot more money than I’m making today. That’s my goal but I’m focused on the present. I’m working hard every day to get better. In the end, I want to walk away from boxing healthy and hopefully wealthy, like Coach John says. I really like this plan.”

“’El Tiburon’ has four, maybe five bouts scheduled for the rest of the year and at that time, or before, we will partner up with one of the highly recognized promotional groups that have been pursuing Marco,” Brown added. “He is a promoter’s dream: young, handsome, articulate, bilingual, and he has an action-packed style. After watching ‘Canelo’ (Alvarez) last weekend……boxing needs a Marco Romero.”

Sibrian, one of the most battle-tested prospects in the women’s light flyweight division, faces a tough challenge in Gutierrez, whose lone loss came by razor-thin decision.

Undefeated super middleweight contender Darius Fulghum preparing to ‘Make a big splash’ vs. Bek Melikuziev

LOS ANGELES (May 8, 2025) – Undefeated Darius “DFG” Fulgham (14-0, 12 KOs) is positioning himself for his first world title shot as he prepares to face Bektemir “Bully” Melikuziev (15-1, 10 KOs) in what amounts to a World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight world title eliminator on May 30th at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Fighting out of Houston, the 28-year-old Fulghum is ranked No. 4 by the WBA, one slot behind No. 3 Melikuziev, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist from Uzbekistan.

The May 30th card, presented by Golden Boy Promotions, will be streamed live on DAZN. Fulghum and Melikuziev are both promoted by Golden Boy.

“Everything is aligned and what’s happening on May 30th was supposed to happen according to the plan,” Fulghum explained. “It’s a blessing. I’m going to showcase who I am and put the super middleweight division on notice. They will know who I am. The winner of this fight is going to be in great position for a world title shot. 3 PM (manager) and Golden Boy (promoter) have been making the moves, and my job is to fight whoever is in front of me, which makes the most sense.

“I’m coming May 30th to dominate Bek and make a big splash. Bek goes by ‘Bully’, but he seems like a nice guy. He has an aggressive style but, no disrespect to him, it’s more of an amateurish style like an Uzbekistani fighter. I have all the tools to beat him, although he’s a little more experienced, and is  a good body puncher. I respect him.”

Melikuziev, 29, suffered the lone loss of his pro career four years ago, when he was knocked out by Gabriel Rosado (25-13-1) in round three for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) International super middleweight title. Two years later, Melikuziev avenged that setback to Rosado by winning a 10-round unanimous decision, and he’s won his last three fights.

“Technically,” Fulghum said, “this is just another fight, but I’m excited to be fighting again in Las Vegas. My two best fights have been there (first and third round knockouts), including my last against a southpaw at the same venue (Virgin Hotels Las Vegas) as this fight. The energy is different at fights in Las Vegas, some of the best fighters and fights have been here. I’m ecstatic to fight in Las Vegas because it is the Mecca of Boxing.”

Fulghum doesn’t believe the results of fights against four common opponents with Melikuziev –Vaughn Alexander, Alan Campa, Alantez Fox and Ricardo Adrian Luna – or Melikuziev being a southpaw have any relevance in terms of the outcome of this 10-round, main event match-up.

“This is like a crossroad fight between two Golden Boy contenders to see who goes on to bigger and better things,” Fulghum concluded.

Fulghum was a decorated amateur boxer who was ranked No. 1 in the USA as a heavyweight, but as a professional he’s fought strictly as a super middleweight. He captured top honors at the 2018 National Golden Gloves Tournament and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials; both of these major amateur accomplishments were

achieved while he was earning a nursing degree from Prairie View A & M University.

Fulghum is working with 3 Point Management (3 PM), which has a growing stable of gifted boxers including WBA & WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs), WBO No. 1/WBA No. 2-rated world super flyweight title challenger John “Scrappy” Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs), former world heavyweight champion/WBC No. 4-rated Oleksandr “Nails” Gvozdyk (21-2, 17 KOs), former WBA Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion Kareem “Supreme” Hackett (12-1, 6 KOs) and German junior welterweight Simon “Saucy” Vollmer (6-0, 2 KOs).

Unbeaten Anthony Velazquez pitched shutout at home in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 8, 2025) – It was only appropriate that former baseball prospect, unbeaten Springfield (MA) junior middleweight prospect Anthony “ATV” Velazquez (17-0-1, 14 KOs), recently pitched a “shutout” in his last fight on April 26 at home in MassMutual Center.

The 29-year-old Velazquez won every round on each of the three judges’ scorecards against  Yusuph “Mr. Mwanza” Metu (11-2, 8 KOs) for an impressive, dominant 10-round unanimous decision (100-90 X 3) victory in the main event.

Metu, 32, fought for the first time in the United States, only the second outside of his native Tanzania, while Velazquez was headlining at home for the second time in his last three fights, both at MassMutual Center, in front of his loyal, growing fanbase.

Velazquez, once a promising baseball prospect, shifted his focus to boxing and now boasts a 17-0-1 record. Anthony has shown great potential, already surpassing New England boxers in the 154-pound weight class.

“I thought I was going to stop him a couple of times,” Velazquez said, “but he was very tough. I thought that the referee or his corner was going to stop the fight. He took a beating and survived, hats off to him, he’s a survivor. I didn’t expect the fight to go to a decision but that’s boxing. I usually stop my opponents early. I did what I had to do and beat him every single round.

“It was another good turnout with a lot of my fans there supporting me. I definitely felt the energy. I think I even gained more fans that night.”

Velazquez is already back training in the gym, only taking a week off, and he hopes to return to action in July.

“My manager, Gunther Feingold, always talks with me about my future,” Velazquez added. “I want big fights, and it’ll happen when I sign with a promoter. I’m getting signed and Gunther will know when the time is right. I trust him. I’m always ready for a challenge and the opponents my manager puts me in with. He pushes me to get better, and my future is meant to happen.”

UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CLARESSA SHIELDS vs. LANI DANIELS SATURDAY, JULY 26 * LITTLE CAESARS ARENA

DETROIT (May 8, 2025) – The GWOAT, Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 KOs), will return home on Saturday, July 26, when she puts her Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship on the line in the main event at Little Caesars Arena against the reigning IBF Lt. Heavyweight World Champion from New Zealand, Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO). Shields vs. Daniels will air live on the global home of boxing, DAZN.

Shields, the most decorated female boxer in history, made headlines earlier this year by becoming the first woman ever to claim the Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship—and the first boxer, male or female, to achieve undisputed status in three weight divisions.

Undefeated and seemingly unstoppable, the Flint, Mich., native is riding high after a dominant performance in February, where she dismantled the towering and dangerous Danielle Perkins in front of a roaring hometown crowd at the Dort Financial Center in Flint. With the win, Shields cemented her place as the inaugural undisputed women’s heavyweight champ.

A two-time Olympic gold medalist, Shields now looks to extend her reign against former heavyweight titleholder Lani Daniels, as she continues rewriting the history books one fight at a time.

“I am so excited to be defending my Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena,” said Shields. “My fights continue to get bigger and better. My opponent, Lani from New Zealand is coming to bring all the smoke, or so she says! This fight will be a sellout of 19,000 so get your tickets and be there to witness herstory on July 26 with the GWOAT.”

Daniels, coined “The Smiling Assassin,” is the former IBF Heavyweight World Champion, looking to regain her crown and add three more world title belts to her collection in July.

“To be the best you have to fight the best. I te p? pouri rawa, ka ara te marama, ?, ka kitea te pono,” said Daniels in her native M?ori. “On the darkest nights the full moon will rise and the truth will be revealed.”

Recently signed to Salita Promotions, Daniels made history of her own when she became the first New Zealand-born fighter to win two world titles, and the first to win world titles in two different divisions when she defeated Desley Robinson in 2023.

On the strength of seven-straight victories, Daniels has proven to be a fighter inside and outside of the ring. At 14-years-old, Daniels tragically lost her younger brother to leukemia, sending her down a troubled path with drugs and suicidal thoughts. Today, Daniels is a champion of mental health and takes opportunities to inform, educate and support mental health awareness both at home and abroad. Daniels has become an inspiration for her home country as she continues to lead a worthy cause and challenge herself inside the boxing ring.

Tickets for the event at Little Caesars Arena go on sale Friday, May 9 and can be purchased online at 313Presents.com and Ticketmaster.com or in person at The XFINITY Box Office at Little Caesars Arena.

“Women’s boxing has grown by leaps and bounds since Claressa Shields headlined the very first women’s main event on a nationally televised card,” said Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions. “Now, she stands atop the mountain, defending the undisputed women’s heavyweight world title for the first time. Over a century ago, Jack Johnson traveled to Australia to become the first African American heavyweight champion of the world. On July 26, Claressa Shields writes her own chapter in that on-going legacy—bringing the fight home to Detroit and facing a significant challenge in the reigning light heavyweight world champion, Lani Daniels. This is more than a fight—it is a defining moment in the evolution of boxing and women’s sport. Claressa is linking generations, breaking barriers, and etching her name deeper into the fabric of the sports history.”

Michigan is a world-renowned hotbed of boxing talent and history that runs deep. Producing legends in the sport, including Thomas “Hitman” HearnsFloyd Mayweather Jr. and James “Lights Out” Toney, Michigan, the greater Detroit region in particular, continues to breed the best of boxing. Salita Promotions features an impressive roster of Michigan-grown fighters including Shields, Ardreal Holmes Jr., and rising Michigan stars Joshua James Pagan and Joseph Hicks Jr., as they continue to build their legacy in the sport. Marking Shields’ seventh time competing professionally in Detroit, Salita Promotions will spotlight the rich history and world-class talent in Michigan once again on July 26.

CACACE VS WOOD FINAL PRESS COFERENCE QUOTES

‘The Hurt Game’ happens at the Nottingham Arena on Saturday night where local favourite and former two-time world featherweight champion Leigh Wood challenges the IBO world super featherweight and previously IBF world champion Anthony Cacace in a highly anticipated main event, live on DAZN.

The two men, along with promoter Frank Warren and fighters from the undercard, gathered today at the Albert Hall for the final press conference and below are some key quotes from the media event.

Below are a selection of key quotes from the final press conference:

Frank Warren
“I am delighted to be here and Queensberry is really pleased to be here in Nottingham with Anto and Leigh. It is a special fight and it is going to be a special night. Saturday we will maybe get Fight of the Year or it will certainly be a contender between two extremely, extremely good boxers.

“The IBO title is on the line for the winner of the fight and it is a must-win fight for both of them. The winner will go on and be involved in a massive fight this year.

“They know what it is all about and they know what they’ve got to do. I think we are going to see something extra, extra special.”

Anthony Cacace
“This is all new in Nottingham and it feels like I am in Belfast, to be honest. It is a great city. I am here, Leigh is my third two-time world champion in a row. If you looked at my life two years ago, I was nowhere, now I am fighting these calibre of fighters. I’ve nothing but respect for Leigh, but I am here to do a job in Nottingham and I will do that on Saturday night.

“I have been welcomed with open arms, there hasn’t been too much animosity or anything like that. It is just another fight for me. I could have done this fight in Belfast if I wanted and I am sure Leigh would have travelled, but I decided to come to Nottingham because I though Leigh sells a lot of tickets and it would be something new for me.

“I’m just raring to go, it doesn’t matter where it is. It is Leigh Wood who is in front of me and I’ve watched him for years. When I wasn’t really doing much and not getting opportunities, I was watching him fight. He is the Cinderella Man of Nottingham and I would love to come here and do the business.”

Leigh Wood
“I am extremely excited for Saturday night. It has been way too long out of the ring, but not out of the gym. I’ve been staying disciplined and trying to get big fights for a while. I’ve had injuries but at the end of last year I was ready to go and was sat around. I saw the fight between Cacace and Warrington, he did a great job, now we are finally here.

“I’ve got a few belts already, so this is more about the win, the name and what Cacace has achieved. Taking that scalp is a lot more important to me.”

“May 31 is gonna be fireworks. It’s gonna be a great show with a great card. From top to bottom, it’s a stacked card.

“Me and my team have been working really hard to make sure we step on Armando in impressive fashion and get my hand raised. Then we’re gonna go on about our business. It’s gonna be a show and I’m gonna step on him.

“This is his big moment and I know he’s coming with everything he’s got. But there are levels to this, and I’m gonna show him that. I’m gonna handle him and go from there. Whatever he’s got planned, best of luck, because he’s gonna need it.

“I’ve always been hungry and I’ve always been driven. I’m a competitor and I’m a winner in life. Regardless of the money or fame, I don’t care about stuff like that. I care about getting my hand raised and seeing how many titles I can rack up. I wanna show my kids what hard work looks like.

“I feel like I am the man in the division. Obviously Canelo is still active and I have a lot of respect for him, but I still feel like I’m the best super middleweight in the world. That’s just my mentality. May 31 I take another step toward proving that.

“Depending who gets their hand raised in the co-main event, I can get it cracking with either one. I’m not hard to find and I’m not hard to make a fight with. A lot of fighters make the mistake of looking past their opponent and they end up not even winning the fight in front of them. I won’t make the same mistake.

“I’m not gonna expand on the sparring we had. He remembers and he knows what happened.”

ARMANDO RESENDIZ

“I’m very excited for this opportunity. I’m thrilled to represent my people on May 31. That means the world to me. I’m here to stay. I’m capable of everything inside the ring. I have what it takes to win and I promise May 31 is gonna be a great show.

“This is a big challenge, but I see it as a great opportunity. I’m going to lean on the work that I’ve done so far and you’re going to see me at my best.

“His talk just gives me fuel. I’m not a talker, I’m a doer. I’m gonna talk with my fists. May 31 is gonna mark a new chapter in my career.

“This is a very important fight for me. This isn’t just for me, it’s my family’s future on the line. My family is counting on me. I can’t let them down. I’m telling everyone right now that I’m gonna put on a show and it’s gonna be fireworks. I can’t let this opportunity pass me by.”

JERMALL CHARLO

“It’s been a journey and a long time coming. I’m going up to 168 to make a statement. I’ve been focused and locked in. I wanna get this fight out of the way and possibly get it on with Caleb Plant. I have big plans in the works, so keep it locked in. Lions Only.

“I just miss boxing period. I miss getting up and just focusing on boxing and I’m back to doing that at the highest level.

“The sky’s the limit for me at this weight. I’m sparring bigger guys and I can lift more now. I’m squatting more than I ever did and using my body more than I ever did. I feel like this is the division I’m gonna end my career in.

“You’re gonna see me go out and be more explosive than you’ve ever seen me before in my life.

“I’m gonna go do my job. I got bigger fights and bigger fish to fry. I’m not overlooking him. I know he’s training for Jermall Charlo. I know how they come at me. ‘Breadman’ Edwards is sitting right there, he’ll tell you that I stand up to the challenge every time.

“This guy LaManna is trying to Facetime me and write me on Instagram and all this stuff. Go train, I’m busy man.”

THOMAS LAMANNA

“I’m grateful to be here. Professionally and personally, I’m not supposed to be here. A win over Jermall Charlo changes my life. I’m glad he’s here and on May 31, we’re gonna rumble and the best man is gonna win.

“I’ve been in this same seat before and I came up short when I fought Erislandy Lara. I never want to go through that again. It messed me up. We all know what the task at hand is and we’re gonna give this my best shot. I’m gonna give it my all. We’re gonna upset the apple cart.

“He’s a two-division champion who’s been at the top level. I won’t take that away from him. We can talk about what we’re gonna do, but that’s why we fight the fights. Talking about sparring and training won’t win the fight.

“We’re gonna see what happens on May 31. I’m gonna shock the world. That’s what I’m coming to do.

“He’s put me on ice since the end of September. I just wanted to know what we’re doing. I wasn’t getting answers and I wanted answers. I’m not trying to play mind games. We don’t know each other. But now I know we’re fighting May 31 and that’s all that matters.”

TOM BROWN, President of TGB Promotions

“I’m really looking forward to this card at a great venue for boxing at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, the ‘Fight Capital of the World’. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no such thing in boxing as a tune-up fight. Boxing is boxing, and one good shot can change a whole night. We all saw what happened this past weekend when Rolly wrecked some serious plans.

“It’s great to have Caleb Plant back headlining a show in Las Vegas. He’s a former world champion, a current interim champion and he’s done it at the highest level. I have a ton of respect for his work ethic. He takes no shortcuts in his preparations. I promoted his pro debut and followed his whole career and I have no doubt he will be back on the biggest stage very soon. But he’s got his hands full with Reséndiz, who’s a Mexican banger and who’s upset-minded. We know what happened when he bumped off Jarrett Hurd in a so-called tune-up fight. He’s gonna bring the Mexican pride with him to Las Vegas on May 31.

“In the co-feature, I’m really excited about the return of Jermall Charlo. This man is undefeated and a former two-division champion. Put some respect on this man’s name. Everybody up here knows how accomplished he is. He’s focused and back to make another serious run. He’ll be taking on Thomas ‘Cornflake’ LaManna. LaManna is a veteran of 45 pro fights and you don’t have 45 pro fights in the U.S. without gaining some very serious experience. I worked his pro debut when he was still in high school and I know he’s a smart boxing man and a hard worker and he knows damn well what a win over Charlo can do for his career.”

STAR BOXING at Westchester County Center June 14

WHITE PLAINS, NY (May 7, 2025) – Tickets for June 14, 2025 are officially going on sale this week! Star Boxing brings championship energy back to the famed historic Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. The Westchester County Center, once a cornerstone of boxing’s golden era, will once again come alive as Joe DeGuardia delivers a thrilling professional boxing card, which blends elite-level talent with throwback-style rivalries reminiscent of the sport’s glory days.

This is a stacked card, including the high-stakes showdown between talented Rajon “Picasso” Chance (East Orange, NJ) and the undefeated Dominican rising star Yan Carlos “El Baka” Perez. This explosive Jr. Featherweight clash is part of the loaded night of boxing, pitting two exciting prospects in the division against each other in a true collision course of styles. Chance, a slick and creative technician known for his ring IQ and showmanship, faces the biggest test of his career in Perez, a relentless and undefeated pressure fighter with knockout power and a point to prove.

“Chance vs. Perez is one of those fights where styles make magic,” said Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia. “Rajon is smooth and cerebral. El Baka is a storm. Something’s gotta give, and fans are in for a thriller.”

An all-New York slugfest between two huge fan favorites showcases Harley Burke (Yonkers, NY) and Lou Maietta (Bronx, NY). Burke, an undefeated knockout artist with a devoted Irish following, steps up against the gritty and fearless NYC Fireman (FDNY) Maietta. Expect fireworks from the opening bell as these two heavy-handed warriors throw down for bragging rights and momentum.

“We are all looking forward to this fight,” added DeGuardia. “Both Harley and Lou are big ticket sellers and kudos to them both for wanting this fight. Too many fighters want to cherry pick opponents and find a reason ‘not to fight’. These guys, like Rajon and Yan Carlos, want to fight and that makes a fighter. It, like the Westchester County Center, reminds me of the old days where fans can see local neighboorhood type wars. Irish vs Italian, laborer vs fireman, grit vs grit, Harley’s power vs Lou’s blue-collar toughness will keep fans on their feet.”

Adding even more hometown excitement, Austin Cassese (Shrub Oak, NY) will be in front of his local fans for the first time since he played on local baseball and football fields as a Lakeland HS baseball and football player, Cassese, a Marist College graduate, works in the construction industry This undefeated prospect looks to impress and build momentum as he continues his pro boxing career.

Top Rank Presents Junior Lightweight World Championship: Emanuel Navarrete vs. Charly Suarez Saturday, May 10 Live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+

Mexican three-division king Emanuel Navarrete will defend his WBO junior lightweight world championship against undefeated Filipino contender Charly Suarez.

Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOs) returns to the site of his narrow loss to Denys Berinchyk last May, which ended his bid to become a four-division world champion. He bounced back that December, stopping Oscar Valdez in six rounds to maintain his dominance at 130 pounds. This marks Navarrete’s 16th world title bout, a run that began with his 2018 upset of Isaac Dogboe.

Suarez (18-0, 10 KOs), a 2016 Olympian, burst onto the global scene with a 12th-round stoppage of Paul Fleming in Australia in 2023. He’s since gone 3-0 in the U.S., including a third-round knockout of Jorge Castañeda last September. Suarez aims to become the Philippines’ third reigning world champion, joining 105-pounders Melvin Jerusalem and Pedro Taduran.

In the co-feature for the vacant interim IBF lightweight world title, SoCal native Raymond Muratalla will fight Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev.

Muratalla (22-0, 17 KOs) returns to California for the first time in over two years, having risen from a first-round knockdown in 2023 to stop Humberto Galindo in nine. He’s since scored statement wins over Jeremia Nakathila, Tevin Farmer, and Jesus Perez to earn this interim world title shot. The Fontana native is one of the lightweight division’s fastest-rising contenders.

Abdullaev (20-1, 12 KOs) has reeled off nine consecutive wins since his 2019 loss to Devin Haney, including stoppages over Jorge Linares and Roman Andreev. He also owns victories over former champs Dejan Zlati?anin and Roger Gutierrez. Last October, he extended his streak with a 12th-round TKO over Juan Javier Carrasco.

The action-packed undercard begins at 5:30 p.m. ET/ 2:30 p.m. PT on ESPN+ and includes some local flavor, as San Diego-born welterweight contender Giovani Santillan (33-1, 18 KOs) looks to maintain his momentum against Angel Beltran (18-2-1, 11 KOs) in a 10-rounder.

Timothy Bradley, Jr., Mark Kriegel, and Bernardo Osuna will call the action.

Shea Willcox & Rich Allen to be Showcased in separate fights on “Fight Night at the Vets Club IV”

?QUINCY, Mass. (May 7, 2025) – The two newest members of Granite Chin Promotions’ (GCP) stable, undefeated Everett (MA) lightweight “Showtime” Shea Willcox (2-0, 2 KOs) and Kingston (MA) middleweight Rich Allen (1-0, 1 KO), will be showcased on “Fight Night at the Vet Club IV” in a pair of four-round bouts on Friday night, June 20, at the Bridgewater Veterans Club in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Once again, Granite Chin Promotions is partnering with the Bridgewater-based “Fire For Effect Foundation,” whose mission is to honor and empower veterans, first responders and their families by providing essential resources, support and community-building initiatives that foster resilience, restore hope, and strengthen the fabric of our community. Go to www.ffefinc.org for more information.

“We are starting to build something special in Bridgewater,” GCP promoter Chris Traietti said. “It has been such a pleasure working with the Fire For Effect Foundation and helping them with their mission to support local veterans and first responders. Our last two shows sold out there and I have a great feeling this one is going to continue that streak. Both Shea and Rich have great fan bases, and I am thrilled to showcase Granite Chin’s two newest signings on the same card.”

“Showtime Shea Willcox

Willcox, 23, was a member of two Everett High’s Super Bowl, Division One, football championship teams. He was also selected as the “Most Outstanding Boxer” at last year’s New England Golden Gloves Championships, as well as a 2018 Rocky Marciano Tournament Champion.

Willcox signed with Granite Chin prior to his pro debut last September at the Bridgewater Vets Club, in which he knocked out Travis Cain in the first round. On April 19th at Brookline High School, Willcox scored a first-round technical knockout of Igor Santos.

“Last time I fought in Bridgewater,” Willcox explained, “I had a good turnout and I’m hoping for the same this fight in this nice little venue. This time I’m training even harder, more like a professional, and I’m more confident. I want to stay as busy as possible.”

In less than a full year, Willcox is arguably the leading draw in New England boxing, packing the house with his enthusiastic fans.

“I have a huge family on both sides but it’s not just them. I have so many friends at my fights,” Willcox added. “It was like that in Lowell when I fought in the New England Golden Gloves. Tons of people! Some fighters may feel added pressure, but I love it and take it all in. I do block it out – all the people cheering — as I walk to the ring. It’s a great feeling.”

Rich Allen

The 34-year-old Allen also made his long-awaited pro debut at the same venue on February 15th, in which he knocked out Tymar Miles in the opening round. Allen is a school resources police officer at Silver Lake High School. He started boxing at 16 but put down his gloves for a few years to attend the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He then resumed boxing in the amateurs. College and work never kept Allen out of the gym even if he wasn’t competing.

“Any experience helps,” Allen spoke about his second pro as opposed to his debut. “I did have amateur experience going into my pro debut. For this fight I modified a few things to get ready if needed to go the full four rounds. Every time I’m in the ring it reminds me why I love boxing so much. I’m training hard and it’s such a good feeling to hear the crowd supporting me. It’s cool!

“I’m taking things fight to fight. I’m having fun. I’m still training as hard as I can, and I’ll keep boxing as long as my body permits, and it makes sense to my family. I won’t continue fighting if I’m not 100-percent because this is such a dangerous sport.

“I recently signed with Granite Chin and that really helps me. Chris Traietti is a local promoter who everybody knows is always square with his fighters.”

Card subject to change.

Tickets are priced at $80.00 (VIP stage seating), $65.00 (floor seats), $45.00 (standing room only), and $420.00 for ringside tables of 4 are available for purchase at www.Granite-Chin-Promotions.ticketleap.com.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. ET, first bout at 7 p.m. ET.

Bridgewater TV is taping the event live to air the week after the fight.

Kevin Walsh: “The King is Here – It’s My Time”

BROCKTON, MA – Undefeated featherweight “King” Kevin Walsh (16-0, 9 KOs) makes the first defense of his WBC US Silver Featherweight title on Saturday, May 10, against former world title challenger Tramaine “The Mighty Midget” Williams (20-2, 6 KOs).

The bout tops CES Boxing’s “Championship Jackpot 2025,” a loaded card taking place at Foxwoods Resort Casino’s Premier Theater.  Tickets for Championship Jackpot 2025 are quickly selling out – purchase yours now at CESFights.com or Ticketmaster.

“Training’s going great,” said a relaxed Walsh a week from the fight.  “It’s just another day in the office.  I’ve been through a lot in life, so the gym is my therapy.”

Walsh only took a week off after wresting the WBC title from champion Edwin de los Santos in February in a thrilling performance.

“I’m just constantly accelerating,” explains Walsh of his improvement.  “Going rounds, sparring, running miles, doing whatever I gotta do. I don’t switch up the recipe, cause all I’ve been doing is winning.”

Indeed, ‘King’ Kevin Walsh has been on a tear, particularly as his level of competition has increased. The Brockton native defeated Massachusetts rival Irvin Gonzalez via 4th round TKO last November to win the New England Super Featherweight title and followed up that impressive performance with a dominant 8th round TKO of Rhode Island’s de los Santos to add the WBC belt.

“It was a great fight,” said Walsh of his win over de los Santos. “Ricky’s tough.  I knew he was gonna come to fight, and at the same time, I knew he was underestimating me because we sparred a year prior to the fight and he kinda got the better of me.”

The successful sparring session gave de los Santos the false impression that he was the superior fighter, something that Walsh proved wrong on fight night.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I’m constantly getting better,” explains Walsh, who dropped de los Santos with a tremendous right hand in round 7 before finishing him off in the following round.  “Ricky definitely slept on me, and I ended up getting the best of him, hurting him and knocking him out.”

The win was Walsh’s 4th consecutive knockout, a run that began with a 2nd round stoppage of Tackie Annan in May 2024.

“That’s what the people like to see,” says Kevin of the conclusive endings to his fights. “I go in there to destroy.  My coaches always tell me, ‘Kev just go in there and box, the knockout’s gonna come’.  Especially in my last two fights, that’s pretty much what I did.  I wasn’t looking for the knockouts.  They just came.”

With wins over Gonzalez and de los Santos, there is only one featherweight left in New England for Walsh to conquer before turning to world aspirations.

Enter New Haven, CT’s Tramaine Williams, a crafty southpaw who has shared the ring with the likes of 2-division world champion Angelo Leo, top contender Elijah Pierce, and grizzled veteran Yenifel Vicente.

“He was a very good amateur boxer,” notes Walsh when asked about his opponent.  “I saw him fight for the world title against Angelo Leo. Tremaine’s a good fighter. He’s small, but I feel like he’s strong.  He seems more of a counter puncher, but at the end of the day, the King is here. It’s my time.”

At 5’4 with a 68″ reach, ‘The Mighty Midget’ presents a tough puzzle for Walsh to decipher, but it’s one that Kevin is eager to figure out.

“Every fight is different,” explains Walsh.  “When I get in there, I’ll see what I got to do to beat him. I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m ready for whatever. I don’t know what he’s gonna do, but he doesn’t know what I’m gonna do. I could box, I could bang, I could move my feet.  I got crazy footwork when I need to use it. I’m ready for the 10 rounds, but I got that power, so the knockout is most likely gonna come.”

Assuming all goes well on Saturday, Walsh is prepared to challenge the division’s elite.

“I would like to fight some of the bigger names out there,” agrees the 32-year-old.  “That’s definitely the plan.  I’m not getting any younger, so my time is now.  Stephen Fulton [WBC], Nick Ball [WBA] or Angelo Leo [IBF]. That’s who I’m coming for.  I want those belts and I want that respect.”

Despite a soft-spoken demeanor and an undefeated record, the Brockton native has had his share of haters throughout the years.  It’s something that he feels is turning into respect with each win.

“Absolutely,” says Walsh. “After my fights against Ricky del Santos and Irvin Gonzalez, I’m getting a lot more respect.  I’m getting a lot of love from fighters all over New England and all over the world, and lots of support from the fans.”

The King can continue gaining loyal followers with a dominant victory over the last New England featherweight standing, but he’ll have to do it in William’s home state.

“I love that it’s in his backyard and he’s gonna have a lot of people there,” says Walsh of fighting in Connecticut. “Of course, I always bring a lot of people, so the crowd is gonna be going crazy. You guys gonna see fireworks May 10!”

DANNY GARCIA’S SWIFT PROMOTIONS RETURNS ON SATURDAY JUNE, 7 WITH ACTION-PACKED EVENT FROM THE NEWTOWN SPORTS & EVENTS CENTER IN NEWTOWN, PA.

PHILADELPHIA – May 6, 2025 – Boxing legend Danny Garcia’s Swift Promotions will return for their second event of 2025 with an action-packed lineup headlined by the return of former world champion Mickey Bey taking on Tobias Green, and also featuring super prospect “King” David Garcia and more on Saturday, June 7 from the Newtown Sports & Events Center in Newtown, Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia.

Title “The Future Is Now: Series II”, the event will feature some of the sport’s premier rising talent as Swift Promotions will look to build off of the momentum of their previous event in March and deliver another night of memorable action for fight fans in Pennsylvania.

**Tickets for the live event are on sale now and can be purchased HERE

To apply for media credentials, please visit www.swansonpr.com/credentials

The event will stream live beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Millions.co or through the Millions App for the price of $19.99.

“I can’t wait for June 7 to give fight fans from Philly and all of Pennsylvania another stacked card with the stars of Swift Promotions,” said boxing legend and Founder and CEO of Swift Promotions Danny Garcia. “From top to bottom, these fighters have serious skills and they’re ready to leave it all in the ring. Make sure you come out and support, because I know everyone on this card is coming to show out.”

A native of Cleveland, Ohio who now trains in Philadelphia, Bey (25-3-1, 13 KOs) became a world champion in 2014 with a decision victory over the reigning lightweight world champion Miguel Vazquez, who had been riding a 13-fight winning streak before running into Bey. Most recently, Bey returned to the ring with a pair of stoppage victories in October 2023 and May 2024 and has now joined the Swift Promotions stable as he looks to make another run to the top of the sport beginning with this eight-round super lightweight attraction on June 7. He will face the 28-year-old Green (12-3-1, 4 KOs), who is unbeaten in his last six outings. A Florida-native, Green will make his 2025 debut after defeating Jayson Velez in June 2024 before most recently fighting Andrew Rodgers to a draw in July.

At just 15-years-old, David “King” Garcia (3-0, 2 KOs) turned pro in 2024 after a standout amateur run across 80 fights that included four national championships and has now signed with Swift Promotions to continue his pro run. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Garcia began boxing at just four-years-old, as his father and trainer David Sr. was inspired by the father-son team of Danny and Angel Garcia. With the backing of boxing stalwarts such as Danny Garcia, Puerto Rican star Edgar Berlanga and former world champion Mickey Bey, Garcia opted for the professional ranks instead of a run to the Olympics, and will continue that journey on June 7 in a four-round bout for a bantamweight youth title.

The action will also see Philadelphia’s own Miguel Roman (4-1-1, 1 KO) step into the ring for a six-round super featherweight affair as he looks to bounce back from a split-draw against Michael Ruiz in his previous fight last November. The 25-year-old turned pro in 2020 and won his first four bouts.

Also stepping into the ring is rising welterweight Thanjhae Teasley (12-0, 6 KOs) looking to keep his unbeaten record intact in an eight-round showdown. The 26-year-old Teasley is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania and kicked off his 2025 in Swift Promotions’ first event of the year, as he stopped Eudy Bernardo in three rounds on March 8.

June 7 will also feature the return of Puerto Rican contender Jonathan Rodriguez (17-3-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round bantamweight attraction. Now fighting out of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Rodriguez worked his way up the rankings with a 10-fight unbeaten streak before he was beaten by top contender Antonio Vargas in February 2024. Most recently, Rodriguez traveled to Japan and dropped a contest to Japanese superstar Tenshin Nasukawa last July.

The stacked card continues with the return of the unbeaten Raymond Cuadrado (8-0, 3 KOs) in a six-round attraction fought at a 138-pound catchweight. The 28-year-old from Ridgewood, New York last entered the ring in June 2023 when he defeated Yeuri Andujar by unanimous decision.

Exciting featherweight prospect Keith Colon (5-0, 5 KOs) will make his third appearance of 2025 on June 7, as he competes in a six-round duel. The 22-year-old put together a stellar amateur career that included a run to the final of the 2021 U.S.A. National Championship. Fighting out of his native Newark, New Jersey, Colon has scored stoppage victories over Angelo Ramos in February and Rashad Hicks in April so far this year.

The hard-hitting 22-year-old Russian prospect Dariial Kuchmenov (8-0, 6 KOs) will compete in a six-round super featherweight bout. Now fighting out of Los Angeles, Kuchmenov enters this fight having scored KO victories in each of his last three outings, including most recently delivering a first-round stoppage of Daniel Lugo in May 2024.

Also in action will be 19-year-old prospect Juan Rivera V (6-0, 4 KOs) in a six-round super lightweight attraction. A Philadelphia-native with a high-level amateur pedigree, Rivera turned pro in April 2024, and has already earned a pair of victories in 2025 after stoppages of Marcello Williams in February and Yeifer Valencia one month later in March.

Making his pro debut will be amateur standout Rommel “Ro” Dunbar in a four-round featherweight tilt. A three-time state champion before turning pro, Dunbar has sparred with notable action fighter and former title challenger Azat Hovhannisyan.

Undefeated Cuban Heavyweight Prospect Dainier Pero Finishes Intense Las Vegas Training Camp Ahead of May 9 MVP Main Event on DAZN

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 6, 2025) — Boxlab Proomotions’ rising heavyweight force and 25-year-old Cuban Olympian Dainier “The Fear” Pero (10-0, 8 KOs) has completed a focused and high-level training camp in Las Vegas under the guidance of world-renowned coach Bob Santos, ahead of the biggest fight of his professional career.

Pero will headline the Most Valuable Prospects 12 card, promoted by MVP, in a scheduled 10-round heavyweight bout against hard-hitting Juan Antonio Navarro on Friday, May 9, at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. The event will be televised live on DAZN, marking Pero’s first main event appearance on a nationally televised stage.

Training in Las Vegas, Pero and Santos have been laser-focused on refining his technical ability, ring IQ, and endurance as he prepares for the challenge ahead. “We’ve been working hard, but doing it smart,” said Pero. “Coach Bob Santos knows how to push when needed, and I feel I’m getting better with each camp. We’ve been working on controlling the pace, staying sharp defensively, and using my size and speed in smarter ways. I feel more prepared than ever.”

Pero faces a dangerous test in Navarro, a known power puncher with knockout intent. But the Cuban Olympian is embracing the challenge. “I know Navarro comes to fight and carries real power,” added Pero. “This type of fight is what we’ve been preparing for—a tough opponent that brings out the best in me. I’m here to show I’m ready for the top of the division, and Navarro is standing in my way. My goal is to take him out and do it impressively.”

As he steps into his first main event on an MVP show, Pero is eager to make a lasting impression. “To headline a card like this on DAZN and MVP is the next step in my career.” Pero concluded. “Fighting on this kind of stage, means everything to me. I want fans around the world to remember my name after May 9.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, has been instrumental in guiding Pero’s career and believes the young heavyweight’s time is coming. “Dainier Pero is one of the most promising heavyweight prospects in the world,” said Piedra. “His amateur pedigree, combined with the discipline he’s shown in the pros, is rare. This main event is just the beginning—we believe he’s on a fast track to title contention.”
