Ryan Garcia

“I’m here to do my job, knock Rolly out and ride off into the sunset…I’m not worried about any sparring from eight years ago. I’m here to do a job, and that’s it…We’re not leaving it up to the judges, Rolly is getting put to sleep.”

“I’m excited to be back in New York after a historic event last time. It was so sweet, we had to do it again.”

“I don’t care about what Bill Haney has to say. He’s just trying to talk up his son. We all saw how that worked out for him last time.”

“I’m here living life. Everyone goes through their ups and downs. It’s about how you bounce back. I’m here to show people that you can bounce back from anything.”

Rolly Romero

“I’m gonna knock Ryan out and he can go have fun with Devin afterwards. I actually think Devin deserves the rematch with Ryan.”

Devin Haney

“Y’all can boo or y’all can cheer. It doesn’t matter. It’s all noise. When I dust Jose Ramirez off on Friday, I’m gonna get to Ryan after.”

“The talk is over. I get to Jose Ramirez on Friday and then everyone here knows who’s next.”

Jose Carlos Ramirez

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to showcase my talent in front of this amazing crowd in New York. Last time I was in New York, I became a world champion. So I’ve got a good feeling here in New York.”

“Where I’ve come from, it’s prepared me for things like this. Everything has prepared me for times like these. On May 2, I will be victorious.”

“I know he’s a very talented fighter. He’s a good fighter. But on Friday, May 2, I will beat Devin Haney. My best chapter is yet to come.”

Teofimo Lopez

“I’m just grateful and thankful to be here with everyone and show y’all the third version of Teofimo Lopez that you haven’t seen yet.”

“Get your pay-per-view on DAZN. Friday night. You don’t want to miss it. I’m the type of fighter who does everything and anything. I can’t wait to express that on Friday night.”

Arnold Barboza Jr.

“This is amazing. I’m here to ruin all of Teofimo’s plans…I just came from doing the same thing in Manchester. We’re here to show up and show out.”

“Teofimo is entertaining and him and his dad are selling the fight. All I have to do is sit back and get ready to fight.”

Reito Tsutsumi

“I want to make a big impact on everyone watching me on Friday night. I want to show who I am and make a name for myself.”

“Whittington has some experience as a pro, but I’m going to embrace my amateur experience. If I fight my fight, I’m going to be fine.”

“It’s easy for him to say whatever he wants up here, but he has to show up in the ring and prove it with actions.”

Levale Whittington

“Y’all are overlooking me. That’s cool and all. I don’t want people to expect me to win. But on Friday night, y’all are gonna see the best version of Levale Whittington.”

“I plan on shocking a lot of people and getting my hand raised by knockout or unanimous decision. If he comes in crazy, it’s gonna be an early night.”

James Gennari, Representing FDNY in the “Battle of the Badges”

“We love our boys in blue. I know he’s gonna bring it. I’m gonna bring it. You gotta have balls to do both of our jobs and to step into the ring. You don’t get a nose like this being in boring fights. It’s gonna be a fun fight for sure and I’m ready for it.”

“He’s beat every fireman that I know, but he hasn’t faced me yet.”

Joel Allen, Representing NYPD in the “Battle of the Badges”

“I’m blown away. This is like a childhood dream from 25 years ago. I came from the Police Athletic League ever since I was a kid and without that program I wouldn’t be a police officer. ‘Cops & Kids’ has made superstars in boxing and outside. That’s what I fight for and that’s where my heart is. I’m gonna put on for my city.”

Rick Reeno, COO of The Ring Magazine

“There’s only one word that could define this event, and that’s history. It’s never been done before and I don’t know if it will ever be done again.”

“Make no mistake, there are favorites and underdogs, but all of these underdogs are live dogs. Nothing is a foregone conclusion. Ryan, Devin and Teo could have taken easier fights, but they wanted tough fights and we put it all together.”

“This event is like a big beautiful cake, and we wanted to put the cherry on top, which is the professional debut of Japanese sensationReito Tsutsumi. I’ve followed him in the amateurs and he’s an unbelievable talent. Once he turned pro, the experts in Japan said he would be the next superstar of their country.”

Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions

“I thought I had seen it all in my 45 years of boxing, but I’ve never seen a ring in the middle of Times Square. This is history in the making. On Friday we’re proud to have our Golden Boy fighters headlining all three main events.”

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport

“This is a completely unique event. The logistics that have gone behind this are quite remarkable. In the last seven days I think you’ve seen one of the most historic periods in world boxing…On Friday night and Saturday night, make sure you tune into DAZN PPV.”

Sean Michael Ham, Team Romero

“We’re not really here to do too much talking. We’re here for business and to do our talking in the ring. We’ll see you guys on Friday night. We’re here to shock the world.”

Bill Haney, Haney Promotions

“This will be a historic event. It’s iconic to be at Times Square. This is a great opportunity for Devin to come back and show the world what he’s really made of. You guys will witness greatness. That’s what you’re here for.”

Gardy Lopez, Top Rank Inc.

“On fight night, this is gonna be a new version of Teofimo Lopez that no one has ever seen. This isn’t the version that beat Lomachenko, or Josh Taylor, this is a new version that no one has seen. And once that mask comes off, he’s not gonna be a saint anymore.”

“FACEOFF: GARCIA VS. ROMERO” is now streaming across all DAZN’s platforms, offering an intense and revealing look inside the rivalry between two of boxing’s brightest stars ahead of a groundbreaking fight under the lights of Times Square.

KYRONE DAVIS TRAINING CAMP QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – April 30, 2025 – Middleweight contender Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis hopes to catapult himself into a world title shot when he faces undefeated WBA No. 1-ranked Middleweight Contender Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez in a 10-round showdown featured on a jam-packed four-fight PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) lineup on Saturday, May 31 from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The show will stream exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

The event is headlined by a pair of super middleweight stars co-headlining in separate attractions as Interim WBA Super Middleweight Titlist Caleb Plant takes on Mexican knockout artist Armando Reséndiz and undefeated two-division champion Jermall Charlo goes up against veteran contender Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna in a 10-round showdown.

“A win on May 31 will 100% let everyone know I need a title shot,” said Davis (19-3-1, 6 KOs). “Stop playing with my name. This is the second guy that’s ranked #1 by the WBA. So how many of these guys do I have to beat to get my shot? I want the big fights for the titles. I’ve fought a lot of world champions. I’m ready for the title.”

Davis has recently arrived in Las Vegas to continue training camp with the esteemed Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, who also trains Caleb Plant and who has led Davis’ corner for over a decade. As his stock in the sport ascends, Davis reflected on his relationship with Edwards and the advantage it gives him in the ring.

“I’ve been out here in Las Vegas for about a week so far and everything is going great,” said Davis. “Everything is growing and just getting better in general. ‘Breadman’ and I have been training together for 11 years, so there’s a lot of chemistry and learning together. When we started out, I was only 19-years-old, and he wasn’t a world champion trainer yet. It’s been a lot of coming up together and getting to know each other extremely well. Our communication is spot on. He knows how hard to push me, and when to tell me to turn it up and step on the gas. There have been a lot of learning curves and our careers have gotten better together.”

Entering this fight on a three-bout winning streak, Davis most recently delivered the best performance of his career as he defeated the then-unbeaten Elijah Garcia by decision in June 2024. After the fight was originally rescheduled for March before finally taking place in June, Davis’ victory allowed him to prove his standing in the middleweight division.

“I definitely needed it and wanted to win to prove some people wrong and show that I’m at a certain level,” said Davis. “I’ve taken the hard road sometimes. I haven’t always had the time to train properly. I came in on short notice several times. I came in on only 16 days’ notice for the David Benavidez fight. For my last fight, that was the first time in a while that I’ve had a chance to fully prepare, and I think it showed in my performance. It makes a huge difference and it’s a huge advantage to be able to fully and properly prepare. Sometimes you can go into camp with only two or three weeks’ notice of who you’re fighting. And even though you might have been in the gym for longer, you’re finding out about that specific opponent and able to prepare for them for only a short time. And sometimes I’ve had to take those kinds of risks in my career.”

On May 31, Davis will take on an accomplished Cuban amateur who’s quickly risen in the 160-pound division in Hernandez. Having most recently dominated Angel Ruiz on Prime Video in February, Hernandez will be highly-motivated to make a statement, just like Davis is. While Davis could put himself into world title contention, his focus remains on preparing for the best version of Hernandez and continuing to take on the toughest challenges he can get.

“I know he had a good amateur career and he’s a good fighter overall,” said Davis. “He seems like he knows what he’s doing and I expect him to be very motivated. “I’m coming to do whatever I have to do. I’d have loved the title shot, but I’m just fighting the best that’s available and the guy that’s going to be in front of me on May 31.”

In a pro career that now dates back over a decade. Davis appears now on the precipice of vaulting into the upper echelon of the sport. While some may be surprised by his rise, Davis believes he’s a sleeping giant who’s ready to take advantage of what’s in front of him.

“I feel like the media and oddsmakers don’t always know boxing,” said Davis, when asked about his underdog status heading into the Garcia fight. “Some people just look at records blindly. And even though they know better, they still don’t do better. In boxing, we know you can build up and pad your record.

“I have a loss against Davis Benavidez, but on only 16 days’ notice,” said Davis. “I have the draw with Anthony Dirrell, but I think I really won that fight. Vegas and the media don’t always see that side, and they just go by wins and losses. A lot of boxing insiders knew that was a real fight against Elijah Garcia though. You embrace whatever card you’re given. Whether I’m the underdog or the favorite, I embrace whatever I am. That’s the attitude I have in this game.”

Tickets for the live event are on sale now through AXS.com.

She followed the showing with a title defense in her latest bout in December 2024, winning by unanimous decision against Lizbeth Crespo. June 7: Kelvin Davis-Nahir Albright Junior Welterweight Rumble Added to Loaded Keyshawn Davis-Edwin De Los Santos Card at Norfolk’s Scope Arena

NORFOLK, Va.  (April 30, 2025)  Kelvin “Nite Nite” Davis looks for a measure of family retribution when he fights crafty contender Nahir “Woo” Albright in a 10-round junior welterweight bout on Saturday, June 7, in front of his hometown fans at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Davis-Albright paces the undercard on a bill headlined by Kelvin’s younger brother, Keyshawn Davis, defending his WBO lightweight world title against Edwin De Los Santos. Keyshawn fought Albright in October 2023 in Rosenberg, Texas, initially winning a majority decision before a positive post-fight marijuana test overturned the verdict to a no-contest.

Keyshawn-De Los Santos and the lightweight co-feature between Abdullah Mason and Jeremia Nakathila will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Davis-Albright and additional undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+.

“Albright is a good opponent for this point in my career, but he can’t hang with us,” Davis said. “He thinks he accomplished something with Keyshawn by taking him 10 rounds, but I’m here to show him he can’t play with the Davis name.”

Davis (15-0, 8 KOs), a 6-foot-1 southpaw, turned pro in December 2020 and signed with Top Rank the following year. He went 3-0 last year, warming up the capacity crowd at Scope Arena in November when he knocked down Yeis Solano in the eighth round of a unanimous decision victory. Davis kept busy in March with a fourth-round KO over 33-fight veteran Jose Marruffo. Albright (16-2, 7 KOs) has never been stopped as a pro and holds a July 2023 victory over 2016 U.S. Olympian Karlos Balderas. Less than three months after besting Balderas, he gave Keyshawn the most challenging fight of his pro career.

In other ESPN+-streamed undercard action:Dominican middleweight knockout artist Euri Cedeno (11-0-1, 10 KOs) aims to extend his KO streak to five when he faces Ecuador’s Abel Mina (18-3-1, 9 KOs) in a 10-rounder. Cedeno represented his homeland at the Tokyo Olympics and already has six first-round knockouts on his ledger.

Cleveland-born welterweight Tiger Johnson (15-0, 7 KOs) returns in a 10-rounder against an opponent to be named. Johnson was a highly decorated amateur who turned pro in November 2021 after representing Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics.

Middleweight contender Troy Isley (14-0, 5 KOs) will face Etoundi Michel William (16-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-rounder. Isley hails from Alexandria, Virginia, and hopes a win over William in front of the home state fans propels him to a world title shot later this year.

Top Rank Presents Undisputed World Championship: Naoya Inoue vs. Ramon Cardenas Sunday, May 4 Live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+

Japanese pound-for-pound icon Naoya Inoue will defend his undisputed junior featherweight championship against San Antonio’s Ramon Cardenas.

Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs) is 24-0 in world title fights and has captured undisputed championships in two weight classes, most recently at junior featherweight with knockouts of Stephen Fulton and Marlon Tapales. He’s also scored stoppage wins over future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire, Paul Butler, and Luis Nery, whom he knocked out in front of more than 50,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome last May. Since last fighting in the U.S. in 2021, Inoue has emerged as boxing’s most dominant champion.

Cardenas (26-1, 14 KOs) rides a 14-fight winning streak into his first world title shot, highlighted by a breakout 2024 campaign that included stoppage wins over Israel Rodriguez Picazo and Eduardo Ramirez. Last month, he headlined in his hometown, rallying from a knockdown to outpoint previously unbeaten Bryan Acosta.

In the co-feature, Mexican star Rafael Espinoza will defend his WBO featherweight world title against Edward Vazquez.

Espinoza (26-0, 22 KOs) burst onto the world stage in December 2023, rallying from a knockdown to upset Robeisy Ramirez and win the WBO featherweight title in what was named ESPN’s Upset of the Year. He defended the belt twice in 2024, including a rematch stoppage of Ramirez in six rounds. Now, Espinoza looks to make his third title defense in a division once dominated by Mexican legends Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Vazquez (17-2, 4 KOs), a native of Fort Worth, Texas, bounced back from a razor-thin split decision loss to future champion Raymond Ford in 2022 with a string of strong performances. He pushed then-unbeaten junior lightweight titleholder Joe Cordina to the brink in a close majority decision defeat in November 2023, earning respect on the world stage. Vazquez enters the bout riding momentum from back-to-back wins in 2024, including a fourth-round stoppage of Kenneth Taylor.

The action-packed undercard begins at 6:15 p.m. ET/ 3:15 p.m. PT live and exclusively on ESPN+.

ESPN’s Joe Tessitore, Timothy Bradley, Jr., Mark Kriegel, and Bernardo Osuna will call the action.

— Jason Belinkie, CEO, Athletes for Hope?

“After promoting so many of the original “Hollywood Fight Night” boxing shows in Hollywood, I am excited to return to my hometown and promote a special show that focuses on raising awareness to the very often ignored and overlooked aspect of mental health and wellness in the boxing industry. Together with 555 Media, we will continue to build on the long history of star-studded boxing events in Hollywood.”
— Steve Bash, Bash Boxing

“In 2014, the WBC and WBC Cares joined with the USA Congressional Mental Health Task Force. We are grateful to Congresswoman Grace Napolitano and Mía St. John for bringing us together. Every May our athletes wear the green ribbon and dedicate their fights in our 176 countries to Mental Health Awareness. Mental Health is the core mission of WBC Cares.”
— Jill Diamond, WBC Cares Global Chair

“As the Chief Wellbeing Officer for Athletes for Hope, I believe it’s crucial to spotlight the mental health of boxers. Studies indicate that one in four people will struggle with mental health issues each year, and this is often magnified in high-intensity sports like boxing. The physical demands are well-known, but the mental resilience required is often overlooked. It’s time we break the silence and ensure boxers have the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the ring.”
— Dr. Mena Mirhom, Chief Wellbeing Officer, Athletes for Hope

Catch the rest of Garcia vs. Romero fight week events, which are all open to the public, daily at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on the DAZN Boxing YouTube. Below is what the fighters had to say Tuesday from the Manhattan Center in New York City:

Ryan Garcia

“I retired Luke Campbell, I retired Javier Fortuna, and I’m about to retire Rolly and be done with these dudes. Whenever I get a feeling about retiring someone, I just know it. I know once I knock him out, he’s done.”

“I’m gonna take control of the fight right away. I have to control the ring. He’s not a better boxer than me, but he’s gonna try to do things to make me uncomfortable. Ring generalship is my best friend when I step into the ring.”

On pre-fight build-up with Rolly Romero

“Rolly is good at making people pay attention to what he says. You have to be used to what he does. I’m enjoying every moment of it.”

On trainer Derrick James

“Derrick’s style is all technique. He’s not worried about flash and that’s the perfect person for me. I’ve already got the speed and I’ve got the power that I can turn on. We’re like yin and yang, we’re the perfect combination.”

On his exchange with Devin and Bill Haney during the media workout

“His dad likes to talk a lot…that’s what got his son beat the first time. It is what it is. If he wants to do that again, we can run it.”

Rolly Romero

“I’m great. I’m happy right now. This is just another normal day for me…It’s a historic event in Times Square and I’m happy to be headlining. This is gonna be a legendary moment for all of boxing.”

“This fight was destined to happen. I called it. I knew it was gonna be at 147 pounds and be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. Look at this.”

On discussion of previous sparring sessions with Garcia

“We’re both tired of watching that. We’re two evolved new fighters. It doesn’t matter in the ring on Friday.”

On pre-fight talk of a Garcia vs. Haney rematch

“It has nothing to do with me. Whatever they wanna do has nothing to do with me.”

Devin Haney

“I’m so happy and excited to be back here under the bright lights. I can’t wait for Friday.”

“In boxing you have to prove yourself time in and time out, just like any other sport. LeBron has to prove himself again and again, and so do I.”

“Styles make fights. He does a lot of good things and a lot of bad things in there. It’s my job to go in there and handicap him of the good things he does and exploit the bad things.”

“This is a great fight on paper, but it’s a mismatch. Ramirez has a tailor-made style for me. I know he’s gonna put on the pressure. If he comes in stupid, then I will put him down.”

On a Ryan Garcia rematch

“Right now Ramirez is on my menu. Once I finish my breakfast, I’ll move on to my lunch…We all know what the people want to see. There’s unfinished business there. But I have to finish what’s in front of me first.”

Jose Carlos Ramirez

“I’m preparing for the best Devin Haney. That’s the guy I want to beat. I want that challenge. That’s what I got ready for and that’s why I pushed myself the way I did in training camp.”

“I feel good…having those extra four pounds have made the weight cut much easier. I’m hoping to show a new Jose Ramirez. I work hard and I want it to show.”

On his face-off exchange with Haney at Monday’s Grand Arrivals

“Yeah his team was saying that I looked a little thick, so I was showing them my six-pack. Then Devin told me I didn’t look thick anymore.”

Teofimo Lopez

“This is a blessing and a dream come true for all of us. We’re here to take over as always. It’s ‘The Takeover’ and we’re here to show off our skills.”

“I’m here to do my part. I’m gonna start it up for everyone and amp it up.”

“This is “FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves”, you saw Eubank and Benn go at it last Saturday. They did their thing. Anything could happen in Fatal Fury.”

Arnold Barboza Jr.

“It’s time to eat. And we’re starving. I’m ready to go.”

On his comfort with fighting in opponents’ home territory

“That comes from going on the road my last two fights. Going to the UK and having 15,000 fans booing me and turning me on, everything has been building toward this. This is the toughest opponent of my career, but we’re looking to show up and make it look good.”

On not facing off with Lopez at Monday’s Grand Arrivals

“We got the message that he wasn’t gonna do it, so I had to face off with my son. I had to face off with somebody.”

On being the underdog against Lopez

“They told me I’ve already messed up a few plans already and I’m looking to do it again Friday. I’m gonna keep this streak going.”

“I’m prepared for the best. I looked at all of Teofimo’s best fights. That’s what I’m ready for…I think Josh Taylor let Teofimo get too much confidence, and I’m not gonna let that happen. I’m gonna punch him in the mouth and see what happens.”

“FACEOFF: GARCIA VS. ROMERO” is now streaming across all DAZN’s platforms, offering an intense and revealing look inside the rivalry between two of boxing’s brightest stars ahead of a groundbreaking fight under the lights of Times Square.

Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez

“I feel great. I feel like I’m at home, and I’ve trained really well. This is something new for me and I’m very grateful. This is one of my dreams to fight in other countries. I’m enjoying everything about it.

“I’m always looking for the best and I know really good things are coming for me.

“This is important for me because Mexican fighters go to other countries as opponents. Now I’m here as the ‘A-side’ in Saudi Arabia and that opens the door to other fighters from Mexico, and I’m proud to do that for my country.

“I’m here to make history, and it motivates me even more at this point in my career. I’m proud to bring the Mexican flag everywhere I go and represent my country.”

William Scull

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity, and I’m very happy to be here in Saudi Arabia. I’m enjoying every minute before I get to business on Saturday.

“I have the utmost respect for Canelo, but I’m here for one reason and that’s to win. That’s it. I’m gonna eat him.

“I’m focused on what I have to do. I’m very excited because I’m here to shut some mouths and do exactly what I need to do on Saturday.”

Badou Jack

“I’m just glad to be back in the ring. I had a bit of a layoff, so I’m very excited and can’t wait until fight night.

“I don’t think the layoff will be a factor. I think it’s a good thing. It wasn’t my choice, things happen, and now thanks to His Excellency, I have the opportunity to fight again.

“This is a lifestyle. You can’t just train when it’s training camp. You have to train all year round, live clean, sleep good, recovery and everything.

“This is a tough fight. He took the fight on three-and-a-half weeks’ notice, but he was already in training camp. So I think he’ll be ready and I know I’m ready.

“I’ve fought everybody in the world, whether it’s super middleweight, light heavyweight, or cruiserweight. Just tune in, I’m definitely ready.”

Jaime Munguia

“We’re very grateful for this opportunity and we’re very excited, not only because we’re here in Riyadh, but because we got this rematch. It’s nothing but excitement.

“We’re going to do things a lot better in this fight. We’re going to be alert and paying attention to everything in the ring, because we want to give the fans the fight they deserve.”

Bruno Sarace

“The knockout of Munguia was an unbelievable moment, and I have the will to do it again.

“I think the pressure is not with me. He has to avenge his loss, and I just have to give my best. The pressure is on his side.

“I’ve prepared like a champion, and I come like a champion. Everything is different, and I’m going to show everyone the new version of me on May 3.”

Raymond Muratalla: “I’m Ready to Show Out on May 10!

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (April 29, 2025) — Unbeaten lightweight contender Raymond “Danger” Muratalla is ready to seize his championship moment.

The 28-year-old fighting pride of Fontana, California, will take on Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev for the vacant interim IBF lightweight world title on Saturday, May 10, at Pechanga Arena San Diego.

Muratalla-Abdullaev will be the co-feature to the WBO junior lightweight world title showdown between reigning king Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete and unbeaten Filipino challenger Charly Suarez.

Muratalla (22-0, 17 KOs) surged into world title contention in 2023, knocking out the big-punching Jeremia Nakathila in two rounds in May before stopping Diego Torres in eight rounds in November. In 2024, he picked up 10-round decisions over Xolisani Ndongeni in March and former world champion Tevin Farmer in July before icing Jesus Perez with a blistering second-round TKO that November. Abdullaev (20-1, 12 KOs) has won nine straight fights since a 2019 defeat to Devin Haney, including victories over former world champions Jorge Linares, Dejan Zlaticanin, and Roger Gutierrez.

Navarrete-Suarez and Muratalla-Abdullaev will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, tickets are on sale now via AXS.com.

This is what Muratalla said following a recent training session at Robert Garcia Boxing Academy:

“This is a huge opportunity for me, my family, and my team. This is exciting and motivating because it gets me one step closer to even bigger fights.”

“I want to get these big fights that everyone wants to see. My main goal is to get past Zaur Abdullaev, so I can start calling out for these big fights everyone wants to see. But I’m not looking past him. I know this will be a tough one.”

“Zaur Abdullaev has improved a lot as a fighter. He’s gotten better since the Devin Haney fight. That was a few years ago, and now he’s on a winning streak.”

“I know he’s coming to fight. And he’s not just here to fight, he’s here to win. And I’m on the same page. So, it’s going to be a good one. I can’t wait.”

“He comes forward with a high guard. He’s strong, but I think he’s a little too slow for me. I have too many skills and different things he hasn’t seen yet. At the same time, I feel there are a lot of skills that I haven’t even shown yet.”

“I’m ready to go. This is something that all fighters dream of. I’ve put in all the work to get here. And I’m ready to show out on May 10!”

USYK VS DUBOIS II LAUNCH PRESS COFERENCE QUOTES

AHEAD OF THE first ever Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World clash on British soil on July 19, the two champions Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois were at Wembley Stadium today on media duty before intensifying preparations for the historic occasion.

Below are a selection of key quotes from the opening press conference:

Frank Warren
“It will be a massive night and a historic one for British sport because the undisputed title has never been fought for in the UK. There will be four belts on the line and it is history-making stuff.

“It is an opportunity for Daniel to etch his name in British sporting history. If he wins this fight he will be the first Brit to hold the four belts and that is a great, great carrot for him to go and get. This is a fight against Oleksandr, who is looked at as being the best heavyweight of his generation and he was certainly the best cruiserweight of his generation. He also won a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

“He has done everything asked of him, he is undefeated and he is a magnificent fighter. Every Brit he has fought he has got the decision against or stopped them.

“We are going to sell out here and it will be a fantastic night. Daniel is on a magnificent run since his controversial loss against Oleksandr and he has done everything in style, beating three world class fighters. He has shown what he is all about.

“On 19 July we are going to see history, we are going to see the best fighting the best, the No.1 against the No.2. The two best active heavyweights in the world putting it all on the line and it is going to be something magnificent.

“The low blow is done and dusted. It was not Daniel’s time and the referee, for me, got it wrong. He can put that right on the 19th. We can’t change what happened, we can bleat and bitch about it, but look at the record books and it says what it is. It is all about now.”

Alex Krassyuk
“It is always a pleasure to be back to London with the best boxing audience you can find in the world. As they say, wisdom is the fruit of experience and this can be very much related to boxing. You know what, Daniel Dubois had his priceless experience in the first fight and now he is not a kid anymore. Now he is a mature man with the IBF belt around his waist.

“The one who underestimates him does terribly wrong. I have a protege next to me, who has completed it all and, do you know what, he is still hungry and ready to expose his version of wisdom on July 19 here at Wembley. Fighting, by the way, for something historical that has never been done before. Formerly Oleksandr thought he would be playing at Wembley, now he will be fighting at Wembley.

“One more important thing to know. This time you will see a version of Usyk you have never seen before. No more controversies, no more question marks, let the victory go to the one who deserves it more.”

Don Charles
“Me personally I have a lot of respect for you as a fighter, what you have achieved is remarkable, but it disappoints me that you can bring the type of photos you are looking at (pictures of ‘low blow’ signed by Usyk and Dubois). Why don’t you bring a print of the actual shot that had you trembling. You’ve heard of the Oscars? You should be given one for the acting you did that night, for the performance. You conned the referee, you conned us, you conned the boxing world. I’ve always maintained that and I still do.”

Oleksandr Usyk
“I believe you are jealous (to Don Charles). You are right, I deserve an Oscar. Listen, you must teach your fighter to punch clean, but I won the fight with a jab. Enough.

“I don’t think about these people (who say he cheated) because it is just talking. Listen, boxing is my life. A lot of people said ‘you won’t make heavyweight’ or be a four-belt cruiserweight. You know what I say? We’ll see.

“For me it doesn’t matter, it is my road, just my road, blah, blah, blah. I am ready right now, not after tomorrow, right now. It is all only talk. I respect this team and I respect all my opponents, those from the UK and the rest of the world.

Daniel Dubois
“Yeah (I was cheated) but it is in the past now. It happened and I get the chance to put that wrong right and clear up the controversy. There is a lot of sh*t being talked about right now and I can’t wait to put him to sleep on the night.

“I think I am on fire now, I’m on fire and just pent up and ready to go. It is going to be a bloodbath and I will put all the nonsense to rest. I will show I am a man of the future.

“I know that in the ring on the night he will be doing a funny dance when I hit him.”

Here is what the fighters and their teams had to say during their grand arrivals:

Ryan Garcia

On the statement he wants to make following his yearlong layoff:

“I’m coming back with a bang. I’m not here to play any games come Friday night.  I’ve got a huge fight coming up next, so I have to take him as seriously as if I’m fighting Devin. We’re going to be prepared, 100%.”

On whether this current version of himself is the new Ryan Garcia:

“You’re just getting what you’re getting. I’m still going to bring that speed and power. It’s just what I do. I’m explosive, and I’m hungry. I feel the adrenaline right now, fight week. I’m feeling how I always feel: focused, ready to kill.”

On whether he plans to come for the knockout:

“Most definitely. I’m not coming for it, but when I throw, usually they go down. He’s going to be coming after me, I’ll be coming after him. It’s going to be a great night.”

On the fight and the Times Square experience:

“This has to be the biggest fight of my career. It’s a historic night, and it means everything. This is the biggest fight of my life.”

Rolly Romero

On his welterweight debut:

“I’m feeling like it’s about damn time. It’s long overdue.”

On his previous fights with Ryan Garcia:

“He got his a** beat twice and the third time’s a charm.”

On if he plans to go for the knockout:

“When have I ever not gone for a knockout? Every fight I’m in, I go for a knockout.”

Devin Haney

On what he’s looking to prove following last year’s fight with Ryan Garcia:

“I’m happy to be back in the ring. This is a dream come true. Allah is the perfect planner. I look to bring fireworks on May 2. I look to show the world a new-and-improved, better Devin Haney than before.”

On what he’s been doing following the year off:

“I had to go back to the drawing board and focus on the mistakes I was making. Like I said, I had to become a better version of myself, and I’m looking to go in there and show it on Friday.”

On his excitement level for a rematch with Ryan:

“My main focus right now is Jose Ramirez. He’s a former two-time champion. He’s coming, he’s bringing everything, and I look to handicap him and show him that I’m just on a whole different level, and then we can get to the Ryan Garcia fight.”

Jose Carlos Ramirez

On how excited he is to fight Devin Haney:

“Extremely excited. First and foremost, I’m thankful for the opportunity, but I owe it to myself to show up and move up into a bigger weight class. I think that’s going to do wonders for me.”

Teofimo Lopez

On the statement he wants to make and whether he’ll fight again at 140 lbs:

“We’re going to go out there and do what I have to do. I’m going to have fun and beat the brick out of this boy.”

Arnold Barboza Jr.

On his excitement level for the fight with Teofimo:

“I’m very excited, very excited to share the ring with Teofimo. He’s an awesome fighter, but I’m an awesome fighter, too. So, it’s gonna have some fireworks.”

Joel Allen

On his excitement for the fight and to represent the NYPD:

“I’m blown away. Wow, what a moment. I’m just trying to stay focused and not get caught up in the lights, but I’m very happy to be here. I look forward to making my brothers in blue proud.”

James Gennari

On the importance of scoring one against NYPD:

“It’s a classic matchup. NYPD versus FDNY is classic, and it never gets old. I’m trying to go for the win, so that’s the plan.”

On his fight training:

“Through hard work and dedication. I’d work a 24-hour shift and then go straight to the gym.”

Oscar De La Hoya

“We are very proud to be here in New York, the media capital of the world. We are excited that Golden Boy Promotions is a part of this excellent show. We have three amazing fighters on the card and once again, Golden Boy Promotions proves that we are the best at positioning our fighters to be in this situation, so thank you very much.”

Undefeated Lightweight Kaipo Gallegos Prepares for Clash with Pedro Castaneda Castro on May 9 in Orlando

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 29, 2025) – Undefeated lightweight Kaipo Gallegos (8-0-1, 6 KOs), the current WBO Youth Champion, is deep in training for one of the biggest challenges of his young career. Gallegos will square off against fellow unbeaten foe, Pedro Castaneda Castro (8-0-1, 5 KOs) of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, on Friday, May 9, at the MVP “Most Valuable Prospects 12” event, taking place at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. All the action will be televised live on DAZN.

Co-promoted by Boxlab Promotions and Shuan Boxing, Gallegos has been putting in intense work at his home base in Las Vegas under the guidance of his father and head trainer, Jayson Gallegos.

As the fight date approaches, Kaipo shared insight into his focused training camp, his mindset heading into battle, and what a victory on May 9 would mean for his career.

On Training Camp in Las Vegas:

“This camp has been one of the best we’ve had. Training with my dad is always special. He knows me better than anyone else — not just as a fighter, but as a person. We’ve been drilling fundamentals, tightening up my defense, and adding new strategies to my offense. Every day in the gym, we push each other. The energy has been different this camp because we know what’s at stake. We’re fighting someone who’s undefeated just like me, and I’m preparing to show that I’m on a different level.”

On Facing Pedro Castaneda Castro:

“Castro is a good fighter — strong, tough, and confident, just like you would expect from a Mexican warrior who’s never tasted defeat. I respect what he brings to the table, but I believe my skills, my IQ, and my preparation are going to be the difference. He’s coming to win, and so am I. It’s going to be a war, but I plan on showing why I’m one of the best young lightweights in the world right now.”

On What a Win Means for His Career:

“Winning this fight is everything. This isn’t just about staying undefeated — it’s about making sending a message to the entire lightweight division. It’s about proving that I’m ready for bigger opportunities and bigger names. Beating someone like Castro, who’s a real threat, shows everyone that I’m serious. It’s a major step toward becoming a world ranked contender. After May 9, people are going to know the name Kaipo Gallegos on a different level in a positive way.”

“Kaipo Gallegos is one of the brightest young stars in the lightweight division,” said Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions. “He’s got the full package — skills, power, intelligence, and the work ethic to match. This upcoming fight with Pedro Castaneda Castro is exactly the kind of test he needs at this stage of his career. Two undefeated fighters meeting at this point shows Kaipo’s mentality. He’s not looking for easy fights…he’s looking to challenge himself and rise to the occasion. We believe Kaipo has all the tools to become a world champion, and May 9 is going to be another major step on that journey.”

With Dickson hungry to defend his home turf and Tabiti eager to reignite his world title journey, this is a must-watch moment on the road to global contention.

Co-headlining the night is the return of Ohara “Two Tanks” Davies (25-4, 18 KOs)  who ends his surprise retirement for a “bucket list” comeback bout against Tanzania’s Mohammed Aliseni (22-9-3, 13 KOs). UNDISPUTED! USYK VS DUBOIS SET FOR WEMBLEY SHOWDOWN ON 19 JULY – LIVE ON DAZN WORLDWIDE

A NEW UNDISPUTED heavyweight champion of the world will be crowned on Saturday, July 19 at Wembley Stadium, the home of English football, where unified WBC, WBO and WBA world champion Oleksandr Usyk and IBF world champion Daniel Dubois will fight for all the belts in a historic event on UK soil, broadcast live on DAZN Worldwide and promoted by Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren for Queensberry and Ready To Fight.

The fighters will come face-to-face at the launch press conference at 2pm on Tuesday, 29 April. Tickets for the blockbuster undisputed clash go on general sale at 12pm on Wednesday, 30 April available from ticketmaster.co.uk.

Fans are encouraged to sign-up for Ticket Alerts to receive the ticket link directly into their inboxes.

Under the sponsorship of Riyadh Season, Usyk and Dubois will now battle to unite all the heavyweight titles for the second time in 14 months, with the previous undisputed clash having taken place in November 1999 when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield.

For Oleksandr Usyk, 38, this fight is an attempt to become the undisputed champion for the third time. The Ukrainian first won this title in cruiserweight in 2018. Later, in May 2024, Usyk subsequently entered into his original undisputed match with WBC champion Tyson Fury in May 2024 and was declared victor via a split decision, before repeating his success with unified honours at stake in December.

For Dubois, it is a rematch of their first meeting in Wroclaw, Poland in August 2023, where his body shot in the fifth round was deemed illegal by the referee and Usyk was afforded over four minutes of recovery time. Deflated by the overrule of his knockdown and ultimately stopped in the ninth, Dubois never agreed with the referee’s decision and has been pushing for a rematch ever since.

Since his Usyk reverse, Dubois, 27, has put together a treble of resounding victories by overcoming the previously undefeated Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, followed by a Wembley destruction of former unified champion Anthony Joshua.

His IBF Interim title success over Hrgovic was later upgraded to full champion status, with his encounter with Joshua being his first defence of the title. A scheduled second defence against former WBO world champion Joseph Parker in February was called off at late notice due to illness.

Never before has an undisputed heavyweight championship been fought for on British soil and attendance and viewing figure records in the UK and Europe are likely to be shattered on what will be a monumental night for the sport.

“I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to once again fight for the undisputed championship,” said Oleksandr Usyk. “Thank you, Daniel, for taking care of my IBF belt – now I want it back.”

“This is the fight I wanted and demanded and now I get my chance for revenge against Oleksandr Usyk,” said Dubois. “I should have won the first fight and was denied by the judgement of the referee, so I will make no mistake this time around in front of my people at the national stadium in my home city. I am a superior and more dangerous fighter now and Usyk will find this out for himself on July 19. I would like to thank my promoter Frank for making this happen for me and I intend to repay him by becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.”

“I am thrilled to deliver this historic undisputed occasion for Daniel at Wembley Stadium,” said promoter Frank Warren. “It will be an honour to promote a sporting event of this magnitude and a privilege to bring over a champion of the stature of Oleksandr. I would like to thank Oleksandr and his team at Ready to Fight for their great cooperation in making this fight become a reality. I am certain that we will see the best of British both in and outside of the ring, from Daniel and the unrivalled fight fans who will pack out the biggest sporting venue in the country.”

“Both teams have done tremendous work to make this fight a reality. Even more work is waiting ahead, especially for Oleksandr and Daniel themselves. I’m confident no one will be left disappointed,” said Egis Klimas, Oleksandr Usyk’s manager.

“Thank you to Queensberry Promotions for the cooperation, as well as Riyadh Season and DAZN for their support,” said Sergey Lapin, the CEO of Ready To Fight and Usyk’s team director. “This will not only be a great bout, but also a unique event in terms of entertainment. We are ready to deliver the Undisputed Resolution to all boxing fans worldwide.”

“We are delighted to add Usyk vs Dubois II to the DAZN calendar,” said Michael Ridout, EVP New Business, DAZN. “An already packed fight diary has just got bigger with such an era-defining fight at the home of English Football. Usyk, a nailed-on future Hall-of Famer, puts his legacy on the line against Dubois, a fighter who sees this as an opportunity to right a wrong. I personally cannot wait for this match-up and look forward to showing fans around the World in the build-up, and on fight night, why DAZN is the global home of boxing.”

The fighters will come face-to-face at the launch press conference at 2pm on Tuesday, 29 April. Tickets for the blockbuster undisputed clash go on general sale at 12pm on Wednesday, 30 April available from ticketmaster.co.uk.

Rafael Espinoza: “I’m Going To Steal The Show On May 4!”

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (April 25, 2025)  Mexico’s featherweight king, Rafael Espinoza, plans to steal the spotlight on Cinco de Mayo Weekend.

The 31-year-old Espinoza defends his WBO crown against Edward Vazquez on Sunday, May 4, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Espinoza-Vazquez will serve as the co-feature to the undisputed junior featherweight showdown between Japanese pound-for-pound icon Naoya Inoue and San Antonio-born contender Ramon Cardenas.

Espinoza (26-0, 22 KOs) built his career in Mexico before shocking two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez for the WBO title in December 2023. Dropped in the fifth, he stormed back to score a 12th-round knockdown and claim a majority decision in ESPN’s Upset of the Year. He defended the title last June with a fourth-round TKO versus Sergio Chirino before ending the Ramirez rivalry by stopping him in six in their December rematch. Vazquez (17-2, 4 KOs), from Fort Worth, Texas, enters his second world title opportunity after knocking out Kenneth Taylor in four rounds last October.

Inoue-Cardenas and Espinoza-Vazquez will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Ohashi Promotion, Teiken Promotions, and Sampson Boxing, tickets are on sale now via AXS.com.

This is what Espinoza said following a recent training session in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico:

“Edward Vazquez is a great fighter. He’s going to come with everything. We chose him because we know it would make for an exciting fight. This is an important fight for me. At the same time, I don’t like to predict knockouts or tell people how the fight will end. I’m simply going to do my job. If the knockout comes, then great. Either way, I’m scoring a win for my people.”

“I’m treating Vazquez as if he were an unbeaten champion. That’s how I’m taking things in my preparation, and that will ensure I don’t come in overconfident. Also, I know that it’s a huge opportunity for him, so he will come in the best shape possible.”

“It’s a great responsibility to fight on such an important weekend for Mexicans, so I see it as a source of motivation. I want to continue representing Mexico on these important fight dates.”

“The only thing on my mind is Edward Vazquez and defeating him on May 4. But at the same time, I’d like to show the Japanese people that I’m also ready for Naoya Inoue. That kind of fight would help me become one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”

“I’m going to steal the show on May 4 and give all the Mexicans in attendance a great night.”

QUOTES H2O Sylve & Amado Vargas from the Presser

ATLANTA, GEORGIA GA, April 25, 2025  –  Ten-Time National AmateurBoxing Champion, Ashton “H2O” Sylve, who made his pro debut at sixteen, is set to make his highly anticipated return to the ring on April 26, 2025, at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, where he’ll face Dominican contender Nicolas “La Pantera” Polanco in a pivotal comeback fight.

This marks H2O’s first bout since his only professional loss to Lucas Bahdi in July 2024 — a humbling moment that sparked reflection, not retreat. This isn’t a comeback. It’s a reintroduction. This lightweight scrap is schedule for ten rounds.

In the co-feature, the “Vargas Dynasty” invades The A.T.L. as middle sibling Amado Vargas will battle Angel “El Gato” Luna, in a featherweight clash scheduled for ten rounds.

The card is presented by Yah Promotions in conjunction with Tsunami Promotions and will be streamed live on BLK Prime free for subscribers which pay a $5.99 monthly fee.

H2O

“These are the kinds of fights I dreamed of when I was a kid. Being the main event of a show and it being out there for the world to watch. This was a good training camp. It seemed like a regular training camp to me; I am going to go in there and be myself. I want to give the fans an exciting fight – never give them a dull moment. I have heard that my opponent is aggressive, so that’s a good thing. My job is to pick him apart and get him out of there. And it could be in one second.

“I want another win on my record. The best result on Saturday night will be a knockout in one second.

His father, trainer, manager and founder of Tsunami Promotions Dr. Ivan Sylve said, “This isn’t about bouncing back — this is about unleashing the next level. H2O is sharper, stronger, and smarter than ever. This fight will make that clear.”

Amado Vargas

“An addition to my regular training for this fight, I have been running on the track every other day. I am ready. I got to do what I got to do and no excuses and I’m going to go get it. It should be a knockout, but if not, a good performance. Regarding my family, I fight this week and I believe Emiliano fights a week after me and I’m just going to keep on going. This boxing game has turned me into a man. There is a lot of pressure just with the last name but at the end of the day my dad doesn’t fight for me. I have to set my own patch. My brothers’ performances also motivate me. We motivate each other, we all hold our own weight, and they do an amazing job.”

Amado is coming off a March 15 majority decision win, and his trainer/father and three-time world champion Fernando Vargas Sr. said, “As a trainer, the quicker getting him back in the ring the better. As a father, it keeps him working with no time to fool around. At this point we are fighting fights to make Amado better and what he needs to do is prepare correctly and get in the ring and take care of business. So far, he has done that, and we just keep going.”

Opening the BLK Prime live stream will be a featured women’s attraction – Amber “LIVE ONES” Summers will fight in a six round bantamweight bout against Kalamazoo, Michigan’s Tarrethia Dixon (2-4, 2 KOs).

Powder Springs, Georgia resident Javon “Javon Woodard” Campbell will battle in a six-round featherweight bout against former world title challenger Jayson Velez.

And finally, leading into the Vargas-Luna bout will be a six-round super lightweight bout between hometown fighter Roddricus Livsey (12-3-1, 9 KOs) from Atlanta, against Lenwood Dozier 10-40-3, 5 KOs) from Belcamp, Maryland.

Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-1, 9 KOs), born and raised in Long Beach California, made is professional debut in 2020 at the tender age of sixteen and ran off ten consecutive knockout wins. All but three of those opponents had winning records, somewhat of an aberration among boxers in the early stages of their careers. In his first eight bouts his opposition survived past round two just twice. The twenty-one-year-old, who earned the nickname “H2O” from his fluid boxing style, was a ten-time national amateur champion and twice international champion.  He boasts over 900K followers on Instagram and 53K on TikTok, and his uncle is Snoop Dogg.

Nicolas “La Pantera” Polanco (22-8-1, 13 KOs) from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, began his pro career in 2012 and did not lose a fight for five years.  Polanco’s losses came against one world champion and five regional champion and a combined record of 160-14-2 at the time of their bouts.

Amado “AFV” Vargas (12-0, 5 KOs) is the middle son of the ‘Vargas Dynasty,’ which is led, managed and trained  by two-time world champion and Olympic medalist Fernando Vargas. He and his fellow undefeated boxing brothers, Emiliano and Fernando Jr., were each born in the same town where Senior was raised – Oxnard, California – ‘top of the food chain’ as the patriarch had boasted throughout his career. The twenty-four-year-old lightweight Amado made his pro debut at twenty. As the boys’ boxing careers thrived, their out of ring endeavors have also flourished, as they are also content creators, models and reality TV stars. Amado’s April 26 opponent, Angel Luna, will be the most experienced and toughest to date.

Angel “El Gato” Luna (20-15-1, 11 KOs) was born in the Dominican and now resides in The Bronx, NY. The thirty-five-year-old began his pro career in 2011, In a career of streaks, he began undefeated through eleven fights, then lost six of seven, won three, then lost three, won 1 then lost four and most recently won five of his last seven.

Javon “Javon Woodard” Campbell (13-2, 11 KOs) is from Powder Springs Georgia. Following an inauspicious start to his pro career, a decision win and loss 2019, Javon ran off eleven consecutive wins, ten by knockout. That streak ended with a split decision loss in a fight scheduled for eight rounds – it was scored a draw after eight, so it went to ‘overtime’ and Lorenzo Parra won the winner take all ninth round. Campbell rebounded with a second-round knockout in his most recent scrap.

Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez (30-17-1, 21 KOs) from Juncos, Puerto Rico, has won numerous regional titles and fought to a draw in his lone world championship bout. The game Velez won the WBC USA title in 2010, the WBC FECARBOX title in 2011, the WBC Latino title in 2017 and the NABA USA title in 2018. In his lone world title bout, a battle of undefeateds, Velez and Evgeny Gradovich fought to a split decision draw as a co-featured bout on a Terrence Crawford led card.

MATCHUP OF TOP MIDDLEWEIGHTS PLUS ALL-MEXICAN BATTLE OF UNBEATENS ROUND OUT FOUR-FIGHT PBC CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING ON PRIME VIDEO LINEUP HEADLINED BY PLANT VS. RESENDIZ & CHARLO VS. LAMANNA SHOWDOWNS ON SATURDAY,MAY 31

LAS VEGAS – April 25, 2025 – Two high-stakes showdowns featuring a matchup of top 160-pound contenders and an all-Mexican clash of unbeatens will round out a jam-packed four-fight PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video lineup on Saturday, May 31 from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The show will stream exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

Action begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and features top middleweight contenders Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez and Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis dueling in a 10-round fight, plus rising contender Isaac “La Bestia” Lucero faces hard-hitting Omar “Cachorro” Valenzuela in a super welterweight attraction that opens the streaming presentation.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now through AXS.com.

**YOENLI FELICIANO HERNANDEZ VS. KYRONE DAVIS**

Two supremely-skilled combatants in the 160-pound division go toe-to-toe as Cuba’s Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez steps in against the rising Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis in a 10-round middleweight battle.

Hernandez (7-0, 7 KOs) is yet another in a long line of sensational amateur fighters to come from the Cuban program, with his long resume before turning pro featuring a 2021 gold medal at AIBA World Boxing Championships. Originally from Camaguey, Cuba and now fighting out of Providence, Rhode Island, Hernandez turned pro in May 2022 with a pair of stoppage victories and continued to dominate his competition on his way to earning the rank of number one contender in the WBA. The 27-year-old returned in 2024 with four U.S. fights, including a stoppage of the veteran contender Alejandro Barrera in June and a TKO over the previously unbeaten Bryce Henry in October. Most recently, the frequent sparring partner of top light heavyweight David Morrell Jr. dominated Angel Ruiz on his way to a fifth-round TKO on February 1.

“We’re training very hard to face a difficult fighter in Kyrone Davis,” said Hernandez. “We have to adjust to his style and do everything that we can to come out with the victory on May 31. After this win, I’m ready for everyone at 160 or 168 pounds. Don’t miss this fight, because I’m here to change the narrative that Cuban fighters can’t be exciting world champions.”

The 30-year-old Davis (19-3-1, 6 KOs) earned a career best outing in his last fight that ran his winning-streak up to three, as he out boxed top middleweight Elijah Garcia on his way to a decision victory last June. Davis had previously picked up two victories in 2023, dominating Cristian Fabian Rios in January before scoring a unanimous decision over Cruse Stewart in December. Those victories came after a run that saw Davis battle two-time champion Anthony Dirrell to a draw in February 2021, before stepping in as a late replacement two fights later to drop a hard-fought contest against light heavyweight superstar David Benavidez. An amateur standout representing Wilmington, Delaware, Davis trains in Philadelphia under the tutelage of top trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards.

“Everything in training camp is going as planned and I can’t wait to get back in the ring on May 31,” said Davis. “I’m very confident in getting another win against a strong, good fighter. I can guarantee action and I really think our fight may steal the show.”

**ISAAC LUCERO VS. OMAR VALENZUELA**

Returning to fight stateside for the first time since his U.S. debut, Isaac Lucero will look to announce his presence as a contender in the stacked 154-pound division against fellow unbeaten Mexican contender Omar Valenzuela in their opening bout.

The 26-year-old Lucero (16-0, 12 KOs) turned pro in 2019 after an amateur career that saw him earn five national medals representing Mexico. Representing his native La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Lucero has stopped his last five opponents entering May 31, and also owns a pair of 10-round unanimous decision triumphs. In looking to make his U.S. takeover, Lucero has set up camp in Las Vegas, where he is trained by renowned coach Bob Santos. Most recently, Lucero scored a 10th-round TKO of Juan Ruiz last September

“I’m very thankful to my team for believing in me and helping me land this important opportunity,” said Lucero. “Being in Las Vegas to train has brought the best out of me and I feel like everything is coming together at the perfect time. I’m working with one of the best trainers in boxing in Bob Santos and his whole team. I know I need to be at my best, because this is a very important step in my journey to the world title.”

A native of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Valenzuela (23-0, 20 KOs) will make his U.S. debut on May 31 after first turning pro in 2017. The 28-year-old has shown impressive knockout power, racking up an 87% KO rate and will enter his showdown against Lucero with eight consecutive stoppages under his belt. His last outing came in February, as he blasted out Angel Zavala in two rounds.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity to begin building my name against a quality opponent on a big stage,” said Valenzuela. “Lucero seems to be getting a lot of attention, but we’re both undefeated, so I’m excited to punch the freckles off his face. After this fight, they will be saying that I’m the next great fighter coming out of Mexico.”

CO-PROMOTER OF TONIGHT’S ‘LA FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS’ SAYS FIRST EVENT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

LONG BEACH, CA – Friday, April 25, 2025 – Promoter Paco Damian of Paco Presents says the debut show of tonight’s ‘LA Friday Night Fights’ series is just the beginning of a new prospect development staple for West Coast boxing.

Damian and his Paco Presents, along with partners Golden Boy Promotions, will present the first installment tonight from Thunder Studios in Long Beach, CA, and streamed live on DAZN (9:00 pm ET/6:00 pm PT),

In the night’s main event, Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s once-beaten Eric Tudor (12-1, 7 KOs) will take on the always tough Kevin “Thunderstorm” Johnson (12-5, 8 KOs) of Las Vegas. In the eight-round co-feature, super featherweight Justin Viloria (8-0, 6 KOs) of Whittier, CA, faces Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico’s Alejandro Yung Wong (12-1, 6 KOs).

Here’s what Paco Damian had to say:

How did the LA Friday Night Fights Series evolve?

I was talking to Eric Gomez from Golden Boy, we go a long way back, and we both said we saw a good opportunity to showcase local talent in this area with a series of fights that would get people excited. So, we contacted Thunder Studios, and they have been so incredibly accommodating. It’s a beautiful venue. It all just worked out.

What is your goal with the series?

My goal is to grow this series into something special. More than a show, I want LA Friday Night Fights to become known for competitive and exciting fights. I have passion for the sport and for giving local talent opportunities to showcase their skills. I love collaborating with Golden Boy and other promoters to make the best shows possible.

You’ve been around a long time. How did you get started as a promoter?

I met the great Don “War a Week” Chargin and his wife Lorraine. We got to know each other, and I started helping them out with their shows. Eventually, I told them I wanted to become a promoter, so they showed me the ropes. When Lorraine passed, Don asked me to be his partner and that lasted a little over 10 years. I’ve had two of the best teachers and mentors possible, working closely with Don and my dear friend and partner Sampson Lewkowicz.

You’re becoming known as a cool customer in boxing, no matter what chaos has erupted, as it often does. Where does that relaxed demeanor come from?

I remember how collected Don was. I’ve learned from him and Sampson to always keep your composure. Instead of complaining and dwelling on whatever is going wrong, just think ‘how can we solve this?’ Let’s find a solution. No blame. Let’s solve it the best possible way and look for options instead of pointing fingers.

Tickets for “LA Friday Night Fights” are available at events.thunderstudios.com.

Also scheduled for action that night is super lightweight Ricardo Sonny Robledo (10-0, 3 KOs) of Mission Hills, CA, taking on Dante Ettore (11-1-2, 7 KOs) of Las Vegas in an eight-round battle; plus super lightweight Javier Meza (2-0, 2 KOs) of Amarillo, TX, facing Buenos Aires, Argentina’s Luciano Ramos (2-9) over four rounds; bantamweight Roy Cano making his four-round professional debut against LA’s Larry Serrano Romero (3-4-1); and Miami super lightweight Danilo Diez (2-0) facing Venezuela’s Giovanny Gonzalez (2-6, 2 KOs) in a four-rounder.

On fight night, doors open at 5:00 pm PT and the fights start at 6:00 pm PT. Thunder Studios is located at 20434 S Santa Fe Ave., in Long Beach. For more information, visit their web site at thunderstudios.com or call (310) 762-1360.

CALEB PLANT VS. ARMANDO RESÉNDIZ & JERMALL CHARLO VS. THOMAS LAMANNA VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – April 24, 2025 – Former super middleweight world champion Caleb Plant and Mexican knockout Armando Reséndiz, plus two-division champion Jermall Charlo and veteran contender Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna previewed their respective showdowns during a virtual press conference on Thursday before they co-headline PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video on Saturday, May 31 from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Plant will defend his Interim WBA Super Middleweight Title in the main event against Reséndiz, while Charlo begins his super middleweight campaign against LaManna in the co-main event of action beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The show will stream exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now through AXS.com.

Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday:

CALEB PLANT

“Expect fireworks. Me and my team have been grinding hard and once that bell rings, I’m gonna step on him.

“Armando thinks he can beat me, and that’s enough to piss me off. He knows what’s coming to him.

“I’m not gonna be distracted from the fight that’s in front of me. It’s happened so many times where fighters get so worried about the next fight, and they don’t win the fight in front of them. I’m not letting that happen. Armando is coming to take my spot, but I’m not gonna let that happen.

“The first thing on my mind is to put on a great performance on May 31. I want Charlo, Edgar Berlanga, Jaime Munguia, Diego Pacheco, and anyone else who’s up there. Then I’ll end up where I’m supposed to be. I’m gonna pick them off one by one.

“Some fighters lose and their confidence is shattered. Maybe their confidence was fake to begin with. A loss has never made me think I couldn’t do what I’m capable of. I take those experiences and learn to make adjustments, which a lot of fighters aren’t able to do.

“Experience isn’t something you can buy or borrow. You have to walk through the fire. I’ve been on the biggest stages in boxing. Each time you get those experiences, you take it over to the next fight.

“I’m too strong, I’m too fast and I’m too slick for Armando. I have a great team with me. We’re the A-Team. We’re coming to win and we’re going to win.

“I have the desire to win and the desire to be a champion. Even with the success I’ve had, that desire doesn’t dim at all.

“I feel strongly that you should have fun doing what you love to do. Boxing is the place where I can let go. When that bell rings, that’s when I can be myself.”

ARMANDO RESENDIZ

“I’m really looking forward to this fight. I’m in excellent shape because I’m facing an elite fighter who’s accomplished a lot. My dream has always been to fight against the best and this is making my dream come true. We’re going to give the fans a great fight.

“I know that Caleb remembers me from those sparring sessions. I believe it was right before the Canelo fight. I know that I have the tools to overcome this challenge.

“I think Caleb has some selective memory about our sparring. They took me out of the gym for a reason. I’m gonna show him exactly how much I’ve grown on May 31.

“I don’t care about anyone else but my team and my family. I’m here making my dreams come true. I’m a Mexican fighter and people are gonna see what I’m capable of. It’s not because I think I can win, it’s because I know I can win.

“Training camp has been going great and I’ve had really good sparring sessions. I’m feeling really confident and I’m ready to get it on.

“Like the Mexican fighter that I am, I always put my best foot forward. I believe in what I can do. My career has had highs and lows, but I’ve realized that there’s no opponent that I will fear.

“The fights that I’ve had in the past will allow me to be even stronger this time around.”

JERMALL CHARLO

“This is gonna be a fight. I gotta do what I always do. He’s gonna come at me and make it a fight. I expect the best out of him and I’ll be ready to make the adjustments.

“Thomas LaManna is standing in the way of my goals and my dreams. But I’m ready to stand in the paint with him.

“I’m ready to get back in the ring. Those two years actually helped me. They made me better. Not only have I not taken damage, but they’ve made me stronger.

“I’m back at 100%. I feel stronger and better. I’m fully back. My team is better and everything is falling into place perfectly. I got Houston back on my back. I can carry them now.

“There’s bigger fish to fry. I just hope Thomas can go back to his family happy after.”

THOMAS LAMANNA

“We’re gonna shock the world on May 31. That’s what we’re coming to do.

“I’m glad this fight is finally here. The timing is right and I’m excited and ready. We’ll both be in that ring and ready to rumble.

“He is who he is in this sport. He’s been off for a while, but he’s never lost. This is the biggest fight of my life and I’ve been training like it.

“I’ve gotten a lot more experience since I fought Erislandy Lara. The best lesson in life is experience. Every day you get better. I’ve gotten more comfortable with these last nine wins.

“Once the call came for this fight, I answered. I’m here to write my own legacy.”

Land of the Rising Star: WBO Welterweight Champion Brian Norman Jr. Defends Crown June 19 Against Japanese Contender Jin Sasaki in Tokyo LIVE on ESPN+

TOKYO (April 24, 2025) — Atlanta’s rising star is ready to defend his championship in the Land of the Rising Sun. Brian Norman Jr. will make the second defense of his WBO welterweight world title against Japanese contender Jin Sasaki on Thursday, June 19, at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

It’s a nearly 7,000-mile trip for the 24-year-old Norman — boxing’s youngest male world champion — who hasn’t fought on foreign soil since 2019. The 23-year-old Sasaki, one of boxing’s emerging knockout artists, has fought all but one of his 21 pro fights in Japan.

In the co-feature, Cristian Araneta (25-2, 20 KOs) and Thanongsak Simsri (38-1, 34 KOs) will vie for the vacant IBF junior flyweight world title.

And, in a 12-round welterweight tilt, Japanese wunderkind Sora Tanaka (3-0, 3 KOs) will fight southpaw veteran Takeru Kobata (14-7-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant OPBF title.

Norman-Sasaki, Araneta-Simsri, and Tanaka-Kobata will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S.

“Brian Norman Jr. is a motivated and talented champion who didn’t hesitate when offered this opportunity,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “Jin Sasaki has power and punches in volume, and their styles will make for a dramatic, action-packed world title showdown.”

“The king from the south comes to take over the world. I like how that sounds,” Norman said. “On June 19, I’m ready to put on a stellar performance and write another triumphant chapter of ‘The Norman Experience.’”

Norman (27-0, 21 KOs) fought 13 times in Mexico early in his career, including nine times before his 18th birthday. Those experiences set him on a path to contention, as “The Assassin” notched a string of highlight-reel knockouts before making his Top Rank debut in early 2023. After four fights without a knockout, Norman authored a massive upset last May, stopping hometown hero Giovani Santillan in 10 dramatic rounds in San Diego. The Santillan win earned Norman the WBO interim title, and he was elevated to full champion after Terence Crawford moved up to junior middleweight. Following successful hand surgery, Norman defended his strap on March 29 with a third-round TKO over Puerto Rico’s Derrieck Cuevas.

Sasaki (19-1-1, 17 KOs) is unbeaten in nine fights since moving up to welterweight. He captured the WBO Asia Pacific title in January 2023 with a first-round stoppage of Ryota Toyoshima and has made five defenses of that belt. During a six-fight knockout streak from 2022 to 2024, Sasaki knocked out long-reigning Japanese champion Keita Obara and Filipino spoiler Joe Noynay, among others, as he ascended the WBO rankings. In January, he went the 12-round distance for the first time, winning a unanimous decision over Shoki Sakai on the Naoya Inoue-Ye Joon Kim undercard.
