World Boxing Council Extends its Tribute and Condolences After the Passing of Boxing Legend and Hall of Famer Bill Caplan
MEXICO CITY – April 23, 2026 – The World Boxing Council mourns the passing of Bill Caplan, an International Boxing Hall of Famer who shaped the sport of boxing and left an indelible mark as a legendary publicist for more than 50 years since 1962.
“Uncle Bill, my dearest friend, who took me to Disneyland when I was eight years old and had always been so close to me, will forever be remembered as an icon and as someone who never wavered in his pursuit to promote the sport that he loved”, said WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán. “God bless him forever and for eternity. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family and so many friends that Bill had around the world.”
Mr. Caplan’s distinguished career included work for legends such as his dear friend George Foreman, Top Rank, Aileen Eaton, and Golden Boy Promotions. He was also awarded the Marvin Kohn Good Guy Award by the Boxing Writers of America in 2010 and the Barney Nagler Award for Long and Meritorious Service to Boxing in 2016.
Beloved by those he shared experiences with on and off the ring and admired by so many others who aspired to be like him through the years, his five children, including his daughter Debbie, now carry on his legacy.
“My dad was someone who loved boxing, and he would always make sure that he did what was best for the sport and those he loved within it. Most importantly, he was a family man first,” Debbie said. “He met his wife in 1957 and remained married until the day he passed. He lived for his family and for his five children, nine grandchildren, and his great-grandchild. We will cherish his memory forever.”
VIDEO: Jarrell Miller Vs Lenier Pero Final Press Conference
LAS VEGAS FIGHT WEEK: PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES AS MILLER AND PERO COLLIDE IN WBA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE ELIMINATOR – LIVE ON DAZN
Jarrell Miller and Lenier Pero both predict a KO finish on Saturday night as they meet in a WBA World Heavyweight title eliminator at BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, live worldwide on DAZN.
The undercard sees Alan Chaves fight for the first time, defending his WBO Latino Lightweight title against Miguel Madueno, Freudis Rojas takes on Damian Sosa over ten rounds a Super-Welterweight and Indian Olympian Nishant Dev kicks off the action live on DAZN against Juan Carlos Guerra Jr over eight rounds at Super-Welterweight.
The fighters were on hand at today’s Press Conference, alongside Matchroom Sport Chairman, Eddie Hearn – here is everything they had to say:
Eddie Hearn
This is a really important fight for the Heavyweight division, an official eliminator for the WBA World Heavyweight title and an opportunity for Jarrell Miller and Lenier Pero to put themselves in position for the biggest fights in the sport.
Jarrell Miller
Pero is phenomenal boxer with a good amateur pedigree, but he lost to the best like Usyk and Hrgovic, so that means jack to me. I’m a maniac when I’m in shape. My last fight wasn’t my best performance but we did what we had to do, I went back to Philly, into the dungeon, and we just ground it out every day. I’m going to have fun beating his ass, I’m going to paint his face bloody red on Saturday night.
He’s like a Lotus Elise sports car; pretty fast, doesn’t have much horsepower, it’s agile on turns – I’m like a big dumpster truck, and I am going to run him the fuck over. It’s not going to be pretty, he can run, but I’ll catch his ass and when I do, his goose is going to be cooked, plain and simple.
How long does it take to order a Big Mac at the drive-thru? It’s fast food, right? We’re going to treat it like fast food – get it quick, bite his ass, send his ass home. We’re going to stop his ass. It’s going to be one punch or a million punches.
Lenier Pero
It’s crazy because a year ago we were both asking for an opportunity at the convention here, so it shows what warriors we are that we’re here now. I know this fight comes with great expectation but I am ready and here for victory.
If he’s studied me he knows I am a warrior and I never give in. He’s been rallying a lot of bullshit but that doesn’t affect my psychology in any way. Opponents have come before and they have never stopped me in my tracks. I’m going to go in there and break him, I do my talking in the ring with my fists.
Bozy Ennis (Miller’s trainer)
Jarrell is ready. He’s in shape, he’s ready, and we’re going to shock the world with this fight. Lenier is a good fighter, but he better not come running forward, he needs to box and move, because if he comes forward he’s going to catch hell.
Jarrell just needs to let his hands go, he can do everything, he’s athletic, he just has to listen and he’ll be successful.
Bob Santos (Pero’s trainer)
The Heavyweight division doesn’t get bigger or better than this, and that’s why everyone wants to see the big boys rock and roll. We’re ready to go, ready to put on a great performance and at the end of the night, Lenier’s hand will be raised. We leave no stone unturned, we’re prepared and we are here for business.
We can fight on any level. Lenier fought Usyk when he was 16 years old and Usyk was 24 years old – he’s been in with everyone you can imagine and he’s seen it.
Alan Chaves
I want to thank Eddie for bringing me into the Matchroom team and putting me on this card. It’s a dream to be able to fight here and I’m coming in well prepared and ready to give my all.
I’ve never said no to a fight. Madueno wanted the fight and I respect that, we know he is a good fighter, he comes in with experience and he wants to win, so we can expect a war and the fans will be the ones who will enjoy this fight.
Miguel Madueno
I only had one week’s notice for the Oscar Duarte fight, but I’m forgetting about that as it’s in the past now. I know I am facing a really strong opponent who is on the up and looking to shine, but I feel I want to get back on a good career path and I think you can expect a war on Saturday night.
Freudis Rojas
I’m excited. I think this is a great fight, I’ve had my time in the PBC world and now it’s time to be in the Matchroom world, and I’m excited to showcase my skills and I think that this fight we’ll see fireworks.
It can be frustrating to see my teammates get big fights and I’m just looking on in the background, but I’m happy to have my chance now. I’ve got a great support around me, I’ve been bred to fight, it’s all I know how to do, and I’m in paradise when I am in that ring.
Damien Sosa
It’s the first time that I’ve fought in Las Vegas so I am extremely motivated for this. We’ve prepared well for this, I respect Rojas and his team, but I feel I am in my best moment for this fight and I’m ready to steal the show.
Nishant Dev
I am happy to be back in Las Vegas. I made my pro debut here last January and out in a great performance, so it’s nice to be back.
Every fight I am learning, improving and looking to get closer to becoming a World champion. People back home in India are excited to see me over there as a Matchroom fighter, fighting to be a World champion, so I am really excited for this journey.

Undefeated Heavyweight Contender Gustavo “The Cuban Assassin” Trujillo Returns May 2 in Miami
MIAMI, FL (April 23, 2026) — WBO #14 ranked, undefeated heavyweight contender Gustavo Trujillo (10-0, 9 KOs) is set to make his highly anticipated return to the ring on May 2, 2026, when he faces battle-tested veteran Sergio Ramirez Marin (22-8, 12 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout at the James L. Knight Center. American Dream Presents is set to promote this thrilling event, expected to draw an eager South Florida crowd interested in seeing an up-and-coming heavyweight boxer advance his career.
Known as “The Cuban Assassin,” Trujillo, the reigning BKB Heavyweight Champion in bare-knuckle boxing, holds an undefeated 8-0 record with all eight wins coming by first-round knockout. Renowned for his devastating power and elite amateur background, he continues to build a rapidly growing fanbase. Now based in Miami by way of Cuba, he returns to familiar territory with momentum and clear purpose.
As he prepares to face a seasoned opponent in Ramirez Marin, Trujillo recognizes the experience across the ring but remains firmly focused on his mission. “Sergio Marin is a tough, experienced fighter who has been in the ring with a lot of different styles,” Trujillo said. “I respect that, because those are the kinds of fighters that test you. But I’ve prepared to rise to that challenge. This is my time to show that I can handle any fighter they put in front of me and impose my will. Every fight is a step forward, and I’m ready to take that step in a strong way.”
Trujillo is determined to give fans a performance that reflects both his power and his evolution as a complete heavyweight. “When I step into the ring, fans can expect intensity, devastating power, and a fighter who is coming to finish the job,” Trujillo added. “I don’t take rounds off, and I don’t come to just win, I come to end the fight early. But at the same time, I’ve grown as a fighter. I’m more patient, more calculated, and I understand when to apply pressure. It’s about putting everything together and delivering something memorable.”
Fighting in Miami, Trujillo draws deep motivation from the strong Cuban community that has supported his journey. “To fight at home in front of my people means everything,” Trujillo stated. “The Cuban fans bring energy, passion, and pride, and it motivates me to perform at a high level. It’s not just about me…it’s about representing where I come from and honoring that support. When I hear them, when I feel that energy, it pushes me to give even more.”
With a world ranking already in place, Trujillo views this fight as another important step toward championship contention. “A win in this fight keeps me moving forward toward my ultimate goal, becoming a world champion,” Trujillo concluded. “Every performance matters, and I want to show that I belong among the best heavyweights in the world. Abe Swidan of Visionary Sports Group, who manages Trujillo, believes he is on a fast track toward the top of the division. “Gustavo Trujillo is one of the most exciting heavyweight prospects in boxing today,” Swidan said. “He possesses the skill set, background, and determination required to excel in this sport. We have taken the right approach in overseeing his development, ensuring that each fight equips him for high-level competition. This bout is a key milestone, and we expect fans will see why he’s the #1 heavyweight contender to watch.

**DANIEL BLANCAS VS. RAUL SALOMON**
A stablemate of headliner David Benavidez, Daniel Blancas will put his undefeated record on the line against dangerous Mexican veteran Raul Salomon in a 10-round super middleweight affair.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Blancas (14-0 7 KOs) is unbeaten since turning pro in 2022 and will make his 2026 debut following an impressive three-win 2025. The 24-year-old opened the year with a dominant unanimous decision triumph over the previously unbeaten Juan Barajas, before scoring an explosive first round knockout of Kwame Ritter in May. Most recently, Blancas stopped William Townsel in three rounds in December.
“I’m honored to be headlining on Prime Video on May 2,” said Blancas. “This is an incredible card and I can’t wait to give the fans an exciting fight and show my skills. This is gonna be a great night Cinco de Mayo weekend.”
The 27-year-old Salomon (16-3-1, 14 KOs) is unbeaten in his last five outings, including his last bout that saw him stop Juan Carlos Perez Rojo in two rounds in February. A native of Ciudad Morelos, Baja California, Mexico, Salomon has never been stopped, with his three decision defeats coming to opponents with a combined record of 36-1-1 at the time he faced them. He racked up eight-straight stoppage wins after turning pro in October 2020 and has plenty of experience fighting stateside as he prepares for his ninth U.S. outing.
“I’m very prepared for May 2,” said Salomon. “I really feel like I belong in this position and I’m eager to show everyone that this is just the beginning for me.”
**JUAN CARRILLO VS. MARLO DELGADO**
In a rare battle of Olympians with undefeated pro records, Colombia’s Juan Carrillo will go up against Ecuador’s Marlo Delgado in an eight-round light heavyweight attraction.
A native of boxing-rich Barranquilla, Colombia, Carrillo (14-0, 10 KOs) represented his home country at the 2016 Olympics before turning pro in 2019. The 33-year-old now trains in Las Vegas as he looks to build on his most recent outing, a February 2025 first-round KO of Cristian Andres Pena. Currently ranked number 23 by the WBC, Carrillo owns a victory over then unbeaten Richard Vansiclen as well as amateur triumphs over former champion Hassan N’Dam and former title challenger Liam Williams.
“Marlo Delgado is a tough fighter, and I respect anybody who steps in the ring, but I see openings in his style that I’m gonna take advantage of,” said Carrillo. “I’m coming into this fight with a chip on my shoulder and ready to fight like everything is on the line, because it is. Fans can expect action. I’m not here to coast. I’m here to dominate and make it clear I’m a problem in this division.”
After representing his native Ibarra, Ecuador at the 2012 Olympics, Delgado (8-0, 6 KOs) continued to have a prolific amateur career that included sharing the ring with a who’s who of big names including Dmitry Bivol, Terrell Gausha and Christian Mbilli, in addition to triumphs over notable names such as Misael Rodriguez and Endry Saavedra. The 32-year-old began his pro journey in 2019, with his eight fights split between Ecuador and Panama ahead of his U.S. debut on May 2.
“I’m extremely motivated to show what I’m capable of on May 2,” said Delgado. “This is the kind of opportunity I need to prove that I’m ready for the next level. This is going to be a really exciting fight between two Olympians who want to be world champion. I can’t wait to work my hardest to steal the show.”
**DYLAN CAPETILLO VS. TBA**
The son of renowned trainer Jorge Capetillo, Dylan Capetillo (1-0, 1 KOs) recently made his pro debut at just 17-years-old, blasting out Jesus Antonio Rios Castro in one round on April 11. Darius Fulghum shifts training from Home in Houston to Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (April 23, 2026) – Houston-based super middleweight Darius “DFG” Fulgham (14-1-1, 12 KOs) has shifted his training site to Brickhouse Boxing Club for multiple changes that needed attention after his last two disappointing performances.
The state-of-the-art Brickhouse Boxing Club is located in North Hollywood, where Fulghum has joined 3 Point Management (3 PM) and Golden Boy Promotions stablemates – unified world cruiserweight world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs) and WBA No. 1rated super flyweight John “Scrappy” Ramirez (16-1, 9 KOs) – training there for most of this year.
In addition to getting elite sparring, Fulghum has been working with one of boxing’s leading young trainers, Juian Chua, who trains “Zurdo” and “Scrappy,” as well as middleweight prospect Eric Priest (16-0-1, 8 KOs). Fulghum’s longtime coach, Darnell Person, is still in Darius’ corner and he has been at many of Fulghum’s training sessions at Brickhouse.
“We’ve been making a lot of changes,” WBA No. 5-rated Fulghum explained, “to try and get back to the fundamentals. I’ve been at Brickhouse for most of this year and there is a lot of great talent here like ‘Zurdo.’ It’s been great to be in a different environment, which has put me back in a great mindset. I’m improving my craft and when I get back in the ring everyone will see the new, improved version. I’m working on facets of my game that I strayed from to become more of a well-rounded fighter.”
In his last fight this past November, Fulghum fought David Stevens (15-2) to a 10-round majority draw, one fight after Darius suffered his lone loss as a professional to Bektemir Melikuziev (15-1) nearly one year ago by way of a 12-round unanimous decision.
Fulghum also acknowledged that his super middleweight division is wide open with Terence Crawford’s retirement and the imposing Texan believes he needs to get into the contemporary title hunt with the likes of legendary Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs), reigning IBF world champion Osleys Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs), WBC world champion Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs), WBC Interim Champion Lester Martinez (20-0-1, 16 KOs), Diego Pacheco (25-0, 18 KOs), WBA world champion Jose Armando Resendiz (16-2 (11 KOs), former IBF world champion Caleb Plant (23-3, 14 KOs), and scheduled (May 23rd) WBO world title challenger Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 KOs).
“This is a pivotal time,” Fulghum said. “Let’s see what happens next. I need to come back with a dominating performance in my next fight (tentatively slated for May 22nd) and wipe away the memories of my last two fights. I’ll be back to show everybody that I’m really that guy!”
Fulghum was a decorated amateur boxer who was ranked No. 1 in the USA as a heavyweight, but as a professional he’s fought strictly as a super middleweight. He was the 2018 National Golden Gloves Tournament Champion, and he also won the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He earned a nursing degree from Prairie View A & M University during COVID-19.
Fulghum is working with 3 Point Management (3 PM), which has a growing stable of gifted boxers including WBA & WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs), WBA No. 1-rated world super flyweight title contender John “Scrappy” Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs), former WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Oleksandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk (21-3, 17 KOs), former WBA Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion, Canadian Kareem “Supreme” Hackett (13-1, 7 KOs), Armenian featherweight Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan (23-6, 17 KOs), and German junior welterweight Simon “Saucy” Vollmer (7-0, 3 KOs).

The World Boxing Council reaffirms its support for the Ali Act and recognizes Oscar De La Hoya and Nico Ali Walsh following their testimonies before the U.S. Senate
Washington D.C. – April 22, 2026 – The World Boxing Council (WBC) continues to express its full support of the current iteration of the Ali Act, and acknowledges the testimonies provided by former world champion and current promoter Oscar De La Hoya, as well as professional boxer Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of the legendary Muhammad Ali. Both offered relevant perspectives from the standpoint of the active and retired boxers that the WBC advocates for, reinforcing the importance of preserving the structural integrity of professional boxing.
The WBC recognizes De La Hoya and Ali Walsh as allies in the defense of fighters and the current regulatory model that protects their rights, reiterating its institutional opposition to legislative proposals that, under the name of the “Ali Revival Act,” would alter the current regulatory balance of professional boxing.
“The Ali Act has been an essential tool for decades, protecting professional boxers in the United States. The WBC opposes any attempt to weaken or replace this framework with initiatives that could compromise the independence, transparency, and competitive balance of boxing,” said Mauricio Sulaimán, president of the WBC. “We also recognize Óscar De La Hoya and Nico Ali Walsh for their valuable contributions, which reflect the direct voice of the sport in this debate.”
The WBC reaffirms its mission to protect boxers worldwide and will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, always advocating for the best interests of boxers through independent regulation, robust medical oversight, open competitive systems, and high ethical and sporting standards.
ARMANDO RESENDIZ TRAINING CAMP QUOTES
SOUTH GATE, CA. – April 22, 2026 – WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Armando “Toro” Reséndiz will look to take down another 168-pound star and build off of his 2025 on Cinco de Mayo weekend against all-action former champion Jaime Munguia in the co-main event of the Benavidez vs. Zurdo PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video Saturday, May 2 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In his return to action after scoring one of last year’s biggest upsets against former world champion Caleb Plant, Reséndiz will step in to face elite competition once again as he makes his first title defense against the dangerous brawler Munguia, a veteran of seven world title fights.
The affable 27-year-old from Nayarit, Mexico fought into the 12th round for the first time in his title-winning battle against Plant, putting himself in position for another career-defining win that could make him a star of Cinco de Mayo weekends to come.
Tickets for the live event are on sale now through www.AXS.com.
The event is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Sampson Boxing in association with TGB Promotions. Reséndiz vs. Munguia is promoted in association with Warriors Boxing and Zanfer Boxing Promotions.
In addition to the PPV being available for purchase on Prime Video, regardless of Prime membership, fans will also be able to purchase the PPV via DAZN.com. On top of those options, fans will also be able to continue to access the telecast through traditional cable and satellite outlets, as well as PPV.com.
Here is what Reséndiz had to say about Munguia and more, from his training camp in California with renowned trainer Manny Robles:
ARMANDO RESENDIZ
“I have to stay focused until the final bell and give my absolute best. Munguia says his experience will be the difference, but Plant was more experienced than me too. He had faced bigger names, but I’m a fighter who keeps getting better and better—there are no limits. That’s what I want to show people on May 2.
“I’ve studied him (Munguía) quite a bit. I’ve been watching him since I was starting my climb as a professional. He’s a gritty Mexican boxer with a wealth of experience.
“Being in this position is a huge motivation and a great responsibility. I’m eager to prove that I’m built for great things and I believe that’s exactly what we’ll do.
“The responsibilities have grown a bit more since winning the title. I have to be even more focused in the gym. I’ve had excellent sparring sessions with great boxers, including Terrell Gausha.
“I enjoyed every stage, every moment, every training session, and every pre-fight interview in the run-up to the Plant fight. I was focused on doing everything with my full enthusiasm and that ultimately showed in the final product.
“Overcoming adversity defines me as a warrior. A fighter who doesn’t give up so easily. Faith has been something that’s kept me standing and moving forward, believing that good things will come.
“I tend to stay focused in the present, but I like to watch my past fights and see how I’ve progressed over the years. I watch my fights and say, ‘I know what I was thinking at that moment, but maybe it wasn’t the right thing.’ It inspires me to keep improving and learning new things.”

WBC WORLD CHAMPION DALTON SMITH SIGNS NEW LONG-TERM CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH EDDIE HEARN’S MATCHROOM BOXING
Dalton Smith is the latest World Champion to sign a new, long-term contract extension with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.
The WBC World Super Lightweight ruler defends his title for the first time on home soil when he faces Alberto Puello at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on Saturday, June 6 – live on DAZN.
And Steel City King Smith follows in the footsteps of Pound-for-Pound superstar and Unified Super Flyweight Champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in putting pen to paper on a multi-fight agreement that exclusively ties him in with the world’s leading Boxing promotion for years to come.
“Matchroom Boxing backed me from day one. They allowed me to build at the right pace, to collect titles, to become a regular headliner in Sheffield and to focus on achieving my dream of becoming WBC World Champion,” said Smith.
“I’m happy, I’m continuing to improve in the ring – and I know I’ve got the best team around me. There’s a lot of talk about loyalty these days, but my head hasn’t been turned. I’m delighted to commit my future to this winning team as we chase more success together.
“With Frank, Eddie and the wider Matchroom team, my advisor Sean O’Toole, and my whole training team led by my dad, we’ve got something special. This is the team that will take me to that next level.
“I will show everyone that I am the best 140lbs boxer in the world by collecting every belt in the division, and of course to box at Hillsborough along the way.
“First up is to deal with my WBC mandatory, Alberto Puello. With two WBC title fights on the bill, June 6 is going to be a massive night in Sheffield.”
Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is thrilled to secure Smith’s signature and believes his stunning World Title win over Subriel Matias in the USA at the beginning of the year will prove to be the springboard to many more memorable nights for the Yorkshireman.
“That night in Brooklyn ranks up there for me as one of the greatest away day wins from any British fighter,” said Hearn.
“The celebrations were euphoric and the memories will live forever. But this young man is not only the fighting pride of Sheffield, he’s a future Hall of Famer for British boxing – and I believe there are many more special nights on the horizon for him, starting on June 6 at the Utilita Arena, live on DAZN.
“I’m so pleased that he has signed a long-term deal with us. We can begin to manoever a very exciting future ahead. The road to Undisputed begins now.”
Former World Champion Skye Nicolson – who headlines in Australia next week in Melbourne against Mariah Turner on Wednesday, April 29 – is another star from Matchroom Boxing’s world class stable to sign a long-term deal recently, along with British & Commonwealth Middleweight holder George Liddard and English Lightweight champ Giorgio Visioli.
Peró and Miller Set for Heavyweight Showdown in Las Vegas
The BleauLive Theater inside the luxurious Fontainebleau Las Vegas will host a compelling heavyweight clash this Saturday, April 25, as American contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller takes on unbeaten Cuban Lenier “El Justiciero” Peró in a WBA eliminator.
At 37 years old, Miller (27-1-2, 22 KOs) knows time may be his toughest opponent. Coming off a solid 2025 campaign, the Brooklyn native has reinforced his corner by bringing in respected trainer Bozy Ennis. Known for his relentless pressure and unusually high punch output for a man of his size, Miller is determined to prove he still has the gas tank to drown rising contenders. His experience against top-level opposition, including Andy Ruiz Jr., gives him a slight edge heading into the bout.
Across the ring, Peró (13-0, 8 KOs) faces the kind of fight that can redefine a career. The Camagüey native, a two-time Pan American Games gold medalist and former Olympian, has transitioned smoothly into the pro ranks but has yet to secure the signature win that validates his world-title ambitions. Training under Bob Santos in Las Vegas, Peró has focused his camp on mobility and a sharp, disciplined jab to avoid being dragged into close-range exchanges where Miller thrives.
Peró, a southpaw with polished amateur fundamentals, will look to box in circles and counter effectively to disrupt Miller’s forward march. Meanwhile, Miller is expected to lean on his size, physicality, and constant pressure to wear down the Cuban over the championship rounds.
The key question heading into Saturday night is whether Peró’s tactical discipline can neutralize the brute force and relentless tempo of a fighter like Miller — who is fighting not just an opponent, but for his place in the heavyweight conversation.
Santiago de Chile Becomes Boxing’s Capital with WBA Fedelatin Convention
Latin American boxing steps into a historic week as the WBA Fedelatin Convention kicks off in Santiago de Chile. The Chilean capital is gearing up for a fight marathon set for April 24–25, featuring a slate of regional title bouts that positions this card as the most significant event in the region so far this year under the World Boxing Association banner.
Friday night’s opening bill will be headlined by a compelling clash between Cuban amateur legend Lázaro Álvarez and Brazil’s Jackson Furtado. A three-time Olympic medalist, Álvarez is looking to solidify his transition into the professional ranks as he challenges for the WBA Continental Latin America lightweight title. Across the ring, Furtado arrives determined to pull off the upset and prove that South American grit can disrupt the polished Cuban school of boxing.
Also on the card, Argentina’s seasoned Jonathan Wilson Sánchez returns to action to face Cuba’s Yusnier Sorsano Ruiz for the WBA Fedelatin super welterweight belt. It’s a high-stakes matchup where Sánchez’s experience will be tested against Sorsano’s hunger and ambition.
The intensity ramps up on Saturday, April 25, at Sala Omnium, where several pivotal bouts could reshape the landscape of multiple divisions. One of the most anticipated showdowns features unbeaten prospect Josué Agüero taking on Ángel Daniel García for the WBA Gold super featherweight title. Agüero is widely regarded as one of the brightest rising talents in the region, and a win could push him to the doorstep of a world title opportunity.
Women’s boxing will also take center stage as Argentina’s undefeated Aldana Florencia López squares off against Mexico’s battle-tested former world champion Montserrat Alarcón for the WBA International light minimumweight title. It’s a classic matchup of youth versus experience, with “La Avispa” López looking to dethrone a seasoned veteran.
The card will be rounded out with high-speed action in the lighter divisions. Local favorite Andrés Campos will attempt to capture the WBA Fedelatin super flyweight title against Ángel Geovanny Meza, while in the flyweight division, Joel Agustín Contreras of La Rioja meets Ángel Alvarado Soto for another WBA Fedelatin belt. Adding an international flavor, Italy’s Pierluigi Ruhe will face Malaysia’s Mohd Azahar for the WBA Gold super welterweight title.
Under the watchful eye of the WBA’s top brass, Santiago will ultimately decide who emerges as the next wave of contenders and standard-bearers for continental boxing in 2026.

World Super Flyweight contender John ‘Scrappy’ Ramirez waiting for Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez’ final decision
LOS ANGELES (April 21, 2026) – World super flyweight contender John “Scrappy” Ramirez (17-1, 9 KOs), currently ranked No. 1 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), is still waiting for Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KOs) to decide if he’ll move up to campaign as a bantamweight boxer, which would open Ramirez’ path to change for one of Rodriguez’ three super flyweight world title belts.
“I’ve had some unique experiences the last 5 years,” LA native Ramirez said. “In my soul, I haven’t fulfilled my goal yet. I’m isolated and focused on that (winning a world title). I have had extra time to travel and train with friends like Regis Prograis in Texas to learn more and stay refreshed.
“I just need to continue trusting the process in boxing. As a fighter, I don’t like sitting around waiting for the pieces to move. We have a plan and it includes options. Regardless of the situation, I will continue to get better, and most importantly keep winning.”
Rodriguez is the unified super flyweight world champion of the WBA, World Boxing Organization (WBO), and World Boxing Council. (WBC). Ramirez has been the WBA No. 1 contender since this past January. He is also rated No. 6 by the WBO and No. 12 by the WBC. Rumors were flying around that Rodriguez was ready to relinquish his three super flyweight crowns and would move up in weight to challenge one of the world bantamweight champions.
Recent reports have Rodrigez, who was also a unified flyweight world champion, moving up to challenge WBA secondary bantamweight world champion Antonio Vargas (18-1-1, 11 KOs) on June 13. However, Rodriguez is not giving up his super flyweight title belts, at least not right now, because he’s also leaving the door open to fight Japan’s undisputed junior featherweight king Naoya “Monster” Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs), who faces former IBF and WBC World Bantamweight Champion Junto “Big Bang” Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) on May 2nd in Tokyo.
Where does that leave “Scrappy”?
Good question!
Wilbaldo Garcia Perez (23-6-2, 13 KOs) is the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight World Champion, but Ramirez isn’t rated among the top 15 by the IBF to be eligible to fight Perez, who is scheduled to defend his title on June 6 versus Andrew Maloney (28-4, 18 KOs).
The first time he was the No. 1 contender in the WBA, “Scrappy” accepted a fight with David Jimenez (18-1, 12 KOs) for the vacant WBA Interim Super Flyweight Championship. Ramirez simply wasn’t ready for that challenge. The more experienced Jimenez gave “Scrappy” the lone loss of his pro career in their title fight, back on April 20, 2024, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision. Jimenez, though, was committed to his April 20th fight against Ayumu Sano (11-0-1, 5 KOs) that was recently canceled.
A match versus future Hall of Famer Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (53-4, 42 KOs), the 5-time, 4-division world champion from Nicaragua, who is ranked No, 2 by the WBA, is certainly appealing to Rameriz, but the 38-year-old Gonzalez has only fought once in each of the past two years.
Slim pickings are left for Ramirez, who understands the need for his continued patience.
“It’s not an easy task,” Ramirez admitted. “All of these questions will be answered in time. I can’t fight the unknown. I’ll keep training hard, eating right, and surrounding myself with good people. I’m grateful to my promoter, Golden Boy, for giving me the right opportunities, as well as my manager (David Shu, 3 Point Management), who has gotten me the best fights available since I turned pro . And, of course, my trainer, Julian Chua, who I see more of than anybody in my life. I see him every day and he’s sacrificed so much for me. Remember, he doesn’t get paid unless I fight. Boxing is his life and I’m so lucky to have somebody all-in like Coach, who cares so much about all his fighters. This is the life I chose and I’m really enjoying it.”
Ramirez, 29, last fought this past January 16th, in which he won a 10-round decision over Byron Rojas (29-5-3, 12 KOs).
?
“Scrappy” is managed by 3 Point Management (3 PM), which has a growing stable of gifted boxers including WBA & WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs), WBA No. 1-rated world super flyweight title contender John “Scrappy” Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs), former WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Oleksandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk (21-3, 17 KOs), former WBA Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion, WBA No. 5-rated super middleweight Darius Fulghum (14-1-1, 12 KOs), Canadian Kareem “Supreme” Hackett (13-1, 7 KOs), Armenian featherweight Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan (23-6, 17 Kos), and German junior welterweight Simon “Saucy” Vollmer (7-0, 3 KOs).

May 16: Kelvin Davis-Peter Dobson Welterweight Clash & Yan Santana-Cristian Cruz Featherweight Battle Added to Keyshawn Davis-Nahir Albright II Card LIVE on DAZN
NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2026) — Nearly one year after the lone defeat of his pro career, Kelvin Davis returns home to reassert himself against veteran Peter Dobson in a 10-round welterweight showdown on Saturday, May 16, at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
Additionally, iron-fisted Dominican contender Yan Santana looks to inch closer to a world title opportunity in a 10-round featherweight battle against Cristian Cruz Chacon.
Davis-Dobson and Santana-Cruz join a card headlined by the Keyshawn Davis-Nahir Albright 12-round super lightweight rematch.
In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, former world champion Brian Norman Jr. returns against Canada’s Josh Wagner.
Keyshawn-Albright II, Norman-Wagner, Davis-Dobson and Santana-Cruz will be streamed LIVE on DAZN beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with RDR Promotions, tickets are on sale at the Scope Arena box office and via Ticketmaster.com.
Davis (15-1, 8 KOs), the 29-year-old brother of Keyshawn, looks to bounce back after last June’s majority decision loss to Albright. Davis rallied late in a back-and-forth tussle that left one scorecard even. He now moves up to welterweight to take on Dobson (17-3, 10 KOs), a 35-year-old native of the Bronx who has faced the likes of Conor Benn in February 2024 and then-unbeaten Jakil Hacket in July of that year.
Santana (16-0, 13 KOs) looks to become the first man to stop Cruz as he climbs the rankings in a division ruled by proven champions. Santana went 3-0 with one knockout in 2025, including a fifth-round stoppage of Alexis Eduardo Molina in November. Cruz (24-7-2, 12 KOs) is 2-0-1 since his April 2024 decision loss to Ruben Villa, including a points win over Jeremy Hill last September before a split draw against once-beaten Muhammad Yaquobov in November.

Sanchez shocks Marrero to win WBC FECARBOX title;Lee outpoints Sosa for the NABF Championship
| HARTFORD, CT – In front of a sold-out crowd at the Connecticut Convention Center, CES Boxing delivered one of its most memorable nights in recent history with The Riverside Rumble, a 10-bout card that featured two championship fights, the return of a hometown hero, a Connecticut light heavyweight showdown, and the kind of unpredictable drama that defines the sport. Sanchez shocks Marrero in Dramatic Main Event The main event between Bridgeport’s Jacob “Lefty” Marrero (11-1, 8 KOs) and Venezuela’s Rowin Sanchez (7-2-3, 5 KOs) had all the makings of a classic — two young, hungry southpaws fighting for their first professional title. Bridgeport’s Marrero, 26, made his pro debut in 2018 and won his first four bouts before legal troubles in 2019 sidelined him for almost five years. Returning in 2024, ‘Lefty’ has been on a mission to redeem himself and fulfill the potential so many see in him. Sanchez’s story is just as compelling. The 29-year-old also turned pro in 2018 and had nine fights in two years. However, due to the political climate in Venezuela, he had an almost six-year gap in his career. Looking to escape the turmoil surrounding his country, Sanchez traveled through six countries to settle in the United States so that he could continue his career. The bout was fought at a fast pace from the opening bell, as Marrero mixed offense with defense and Sanchez looked to match his tempo. It looked like the bout might end early when Sanchez missed a right hook and Marrero countered with a left hand to the head that dropped the Venezuelan. Referee Johnny Callas ruled that the shot was behind the head, and the fight resumed. Marrero continued to be successful in round two, mixing quick shots with responsible defense to the crowd’s delight. But everything changed at the end of round three. During a furious exchange, a sudden right hook from Sanchez landed flush, dropping Marrero hard to the canvas. Referee Johnny Callas stopped counting as it was clear that Lefty would not beat the count. Time was 2:54 of the round. In a tense and emotional scene, medical personnel entered the ring and transported Marrero out on a stretcher. Encouragingly, he was responsive and moving as he was taken for further evaluation. With the win, Sanchez captured the WBC FECARBOX Lightweight Championship, but the result was secondary in a moment that brought the entire arena to a standstill. In the co-main event, Yonkers’ Iman Lee (15-0-1, 8 KOs) delivered the most complete performance of his career, capturing the vacant NABF Super Featherweight Championship with a hard-earned decision over Jose Nunez Sosa (8-3, 6 KOs). Lee, 26, was fresh off a successful run in the WBC Grand Prix Featherweight Tournament, where he went 2-0-1 against top prospects from all over the world in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That experience served Lee well against Sosa, a tough-as-nails boxer from the Dominican Republic who gave Kevin Walsh all he could handle in November. Lee came out aggressively in round one, looking to back Sosa up with his sharp jab and long right hand. Undeterred, Sosa was happy to meet Lee in the center of the ring and go blow for blow. The fight continued at a frenetic pace throughout, with the taller, rangier Lee applying steady pressure behind solid jabs, vicious left hooks and right hands, and the equally fast but shorter Sosa responding with explosive left hooks and right hands. What began as a high-speed chess match evolved into a test of will. The fighters weren’t taking turns as much as they were firing feverish combinations at the same time. Lee’s superior conditioning and composure gradually took control beginning in round six as Sosa’s output slowed. By the championship rounds, Lee was pressing forward with authority, closing the show strong to secure scores of 78-74, 78-74, and 77-75. In a Connecticut light heavyweight showdown, Manchester’s Jose Carlos “Rated R” Rivera (10-4-1, 5 KOs) handed Stamford’s Slawomir “Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz (7-1, 6 KOs) the first loss of his career in a back-and-forth war. Bohdziewicz looked to take control of the fight early on, plodding forward behind a stiff jab, while smaller but faster Rivera circled the ring and looked for opportunities to counter. Rivera didn’t have to wait long. Just as Bohdziewicz threw a right hand, Rivera launched a looping left counter in round one that dropped Slaw on the seat of his pants for a flash knockdown. Bohdziewicz looked to even the score in round two, applying non-stop pressure to trap Rivera in the corner where he could land his vaunted body assault. However, once in the corner, the experienced Rivera used his superior speed to land an overhand left, right and looping left that dropped Bohdziewicz hard and nearly sent the Polish fighter out of the ring. Bohdziewicz again beat the count and came out in round three determined to turn the tide. With Rivera tiring in round four and the Polish fans roaring him on, the fight began to take the pattern of Slaw pressuring with activity and Rivera circling and looking to land something big. At the end of eight rounds, Rivera won a majority decision by scores of 59-53, 57-55 and 56-56. Hartford’s own Mykquan Williams (24-1-2, 12 KOs) made his long-awaited return home count in emphatic fashion. Fighting in front of his hometown crowd for the first time in four years, the super lightweight contender needed less than two minutes to remind everyone exactly who he is — detonating a thunderous overhand right that flattened Argentina’s Guillermo Crocco (20-7-1, 6 KOs) for a first-round knockout. It was the kind of performance that brings a crowd to its feet and puts a division on notice. Fighting for the second time in as many month’s Stamford’s Douglas “El Uno” Marroquin (10-0, 6 KOs) continued his impressive rise, breaking down New York’s Victor Vasquez (11-6, 5 KOs) with relentless pressure before the fight was stopped after three rounds of a middleweight bout. In front of a raucous crowd, Meriden’s Carlos Perez (5-0, 1 KO) scored his first knockout with a crushing body shot that ended his bout against Deonta Williamson (3-8, 3 KOs) in the opening round of a super lightweight match. Blue-chip super bantamweight prospect Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm improved to 7-1 (6 KOs) and showed a different facet of his game. Known for a string of first-round knockouts, Chisholm used superior hand speed, movement and defense to earn a unanimous decision over Bosnia’s Anel Dudo (4-8-1, 1 KO). Scores were 58-56 (2x) and 59-55 for the Stratford native. Ireland’s Conor O’Donovan (2-0, 2 KOs) wasted little time in his second pro bout, stopping Michael Douglas (0-2) with a perfectly timed check right hand just 31 seconds into the first round of a lightweight contest. New Haven welterweight Kevante “The Key” Wineglass (4-0, 3 KOs) kept his perfect record intact, overwhelming St. Louis’ Anthony Jones (0-2) with a sharp combination en route to a first-round stoppage. Time was 1:13 of the round. Kicking off the card, super welterweight Victor Guerra Vargas (2-0, 2 KOs) made it two straight stoppages to begin his career, overwhelming debuting Jean Estiverne (0-1) with sustained pressure before a crushing right hand forced a fourth-round stoppage. It was a tough but game debut for Estiverne, who showed heart under heavy fire, but Vargas’ power ultimately proved too much. ‘CALM’ PERO READY TO FACE MILLER’S FIRE
Unbeaten and steadily rising up the heavyweight ranks, WBA #2 contender Lenier “El Justiciero” Pero (13-0, 8 KOs) is approaching a career-defining moment as he prepares to face Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (27-1-2, 22 KOs) in an eliminator for the WBA World Heavyweight title on Saturday night (April 25) at BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, live worldwide on DAZN.
Pero has embraced the magnitude of the moment while maintaining the discipline that has defined his rise. Pero has spent his training camp in Las Vegas working alongside respected trainer Bob Santos, focusing on sharpening both his physical tools and tactical awareness.
“This camp has been all about getting better every day,” said Pero. “Working with Bob Santos, we focus on doing the small things right, staying disciplined and understanding the game. Every session has a purpose. I feel more in control and more confident going into this fight.”
Facing a seasoned and physically imposing opponent in Miller, Pero approaches the matchup with respect, but also with clarity in his own abilities.
“Miller’s a strong guy who keeps coming and likes to make it a fight,” Pero continued. “He can take a punch and doesn’t back down, so I know what I’m up against. But this isn’t just about who’s stronger, it’s about staying calm, sticking to my game plan, and controlling the fight with intelligence. That’s how you win fights like this. At this level, the smarter fighter usually wins.”
For the first time in his professional career, Pero will step into the ring in Las Vegas, boxing’s global stage, a moment he views with both pride and purpose.
“Fighting in Las Vegas means a lot because so many great fighters have fought here,” Pero stated. “It’s the biggest stage in boxing, it’s the boxing capitol of the world, so it’s both an honor and a big responsibility. I’m excited for the opportunity to show a lot more people what I can do and prove I belong at the top level.”
Beyond rankings and titles, Pero carries a deeper motivation, representing his homeland and inspiring those who follow his journey from Cuba.
“This win isn’t just for me,” Pero concluded. “It means a lot to the people back home in Cuba. I carry them with me every time I step in the ring. If I can make them proud and inspire even one kid to believe in themselves, then it’s all worth it. The goal is to come out on top and get my shot a World title.”

**ISAAC LUCERO VS. ISMAEL FLORES**
Fresh off a pair of KO victories in 2025, undefeated rising contender Isaac “Puro México” Lucero will look to bring that momentum into 2026 as he steps in against the power punching Ismael Flores, who makes his U.S. debut in this eight-round super welterweight showdown.
The 27-year-old Lucero (18-0, 14 KOs) turned pro in 2019 after an amateur career that saw him earn five national medals representing Mexico. A native of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Lucero has stopped his last seven opponents entering May 2, and also owns a pair of 10-round unanimous decision triumphs. In looking to make his U.S. takeover, Lucero has set up camp in Las Vegas, where he is trained by renowned coach Bob Santos. Most recently, Lucero dominated veteran Roberto Valenzuela Jr. in December, stopping the fight at the end of round 8.
“I’m very grateful to my team, and everyone who worked to make this possible,” said Lucero. “Fighting on Cinco de Mayo weekend is every Mexican boxer’s dream, and I accept this challenge with the upmost professionalism, as I’ll be facing the most important challenge of my career on this huge stage. I will show everyone why I’m ‘Puro México!’”
Originally from Argentina, Flores (17-1-1, 12 KOs) moved to Spain to pursue his boxing dreams and has put together an impressive record fighting out of the country since 2021. The 27-year-old has won seven straight fights since a decision defeat to Jorge Fortea in 2023, including five-straight wins inside of the distance. Most recently, Flores added two knockouts to that streak in 2025, blasting out Johan Nova in two rounds in March before a ninth-round stoppage victory over Oliver Quintana Sanchez in October.
“I’m so excited about this fight, it’s the kind of fight I’ve wanted for a long time,” said Flores. “This fight is going to change my life. I’ve never stopped training, so I was more than ready to jump on this opportunity. I’m in great shape and I’m going to surprise everyone. I’m coming to stay in the U.S. for a long time.”
**JORGE CHAVEZ VS. JOSE “TITO” SANCHEZ**
In a super bantamweight attraction, undefeated rising contenders square off as Jorge Chavez and Jose “Tito” Sanchez step into the ring for a 10-round showdown that sets the winner up with a career-best victory on their path to a world title.
The 26-year-old Chavez (15-0-1, 8 KOs) returns to action after kicking off 2026 by avenging the only blemish on his record. Chavez scored a unanimous decision in January over Manuel Flores after the combatants had previously battled to a majority draw last July. Originally from Tijuana and now training in Orange County, Chavez’s two bouts against Flores were his first two 10 rounds bouts after he won a pair of nearly shutout eight rounds decisions in his prior two outings. A pro since 2021, Chavez’s January victory also earned him a California State Title at 122-pounds.
“I’m so thankful to be a fighter of Mexican descent competing on pay-per-view on the world’s biggest stage on Cinco de Mayo weekend,” said Chavez. “I’m grateful to my entire team for this chance to showcase my skills as part of such a huge event. I’ve worked so hard my entire life for this opportunity and I intend to put on a great show May 2. Viva Mexico!”
Representing Cathedral City, California, Sanchez (15-0. 9 KOs) is trained by the renowned Joel Diaz as he looks to make a statement in the super bantamweight division. The 26-year-old ended a 15-month layoff in January, as he stepped back into the ring to deliver a sixth-round knockout of Jesus Eduardo Ramirez Rubio. Sanchez had previously put together an impressive 2024 that saw him first turn back veteran Erik Ruiz via unanimous decision in April before scoring an eighth-round knockout of Edwin Palomares in October.
“On May 2, I will finally get my chance to fight on a huge card in Las Vegas and fulfill a dream I’ve had ever since I was a kid,” said Sanchez. “I’ve trained very hard to make it to this level, and I want to thank my family and my whole team for this opportunity to shine in front of the crowd in Las Vegas during this big boxing weekend. But your tickets and come out early to watch a great show.”

Kristian ‘KP’ Prenga developing into Albanian heavyweight boxing GOAT
NEW YORK CITY (April 20, 2026) – Heavy-handed Kristian “KP” Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs) is on a mission to be crowned the greatest Albanian heavyweight professional boxer of all-time. The 34-year-old Prenga’s ultimate goal, however, is to become world champion of boxing’s most celebrated weight class.
“I don’t only want to be the greatest heavyweight from Albania,” the humble Prenga explained. “What I really want is to be the heavyweight champion of the world. That’s what I’m working on, but it’s not what I talk about as that is not my style. I just work hard in the gym and how I live outside the gym to achieve this goal.”
Prenga, a two-time European kickboxing champion with no amateur boxing background, has clearly transitioned successfully to pro boxing.
“As his manager,” NYC lawyer Keith Sullivan stated, “I can tell you Kristian Prenga isn’t just chasing wins, he is on a mission to become Albania’s top heavyweight and a real force on the world heavyweight stage. We’re building Kristian the right way and make no mistake, the goal is for him to be recognized as Albania’s number one heavyweight while competing with the best globally.”
Now fighting out of Edgewater, New Jersey, Prenga stands 6’ 5”, weighs 260 pounds, and packs lethal punches. “KP” sports a maximum knockout percentage of 100%, 20-for-20. He is riding a 16-fight win streak and is scheduled to fight again in June.
His lone loss was in his fifth pro fight, 9 years ago to Govanni Auriemma, by way of points (77-74) in their 8-round bout in Albania.
There has never been an Albanian world heavyweight champion of a major sanctioning body in pro boxing. In fact, no Albanian pro boxer has ever won a major world title (WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF). Jurgen Uldedaj did capture the IBO cruiserweight world title last year.
Other leading Albania-born pro boxers include welterweight (and former kickboxer) Florian “The Albanian King” Marku (13-1-1, 8 KOs, 2018-2024), super welterweight Ermal “The Albanian Sniper” Hadribeaj (22-0-1, 8 KOs, 2019-present), middleweight Kreshnik “The Eagle” Qato (30-9, 5 KOs, 2001-2014), and light heavyweight Amarildo Bakaj (14-0, 14 KOs, 2019-present).
Prenga has rapidly built a dedicated following, particularly among Albanians in New York/New Jersey, in addition to back home in Albania.
Sullivan, a former New York State Athletic Commission Deputy Commissioner, also manages 3-time, 2-division World Champion Miyo Yoshida (18-5), Bronx NYPD officer Nisa Rodriguez (4-1, 2 KOs), and featherweight prospect Brooklyn Barwick (4-1, 4 KOs). Sullivan co-manages IBF Welterweight World title challenger Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) and his cousin, middleweight Jim Donovan (2-0, 1 KO), alongside coach and ex-world champion Andy Lee.

Registration Now Open for the Return of the Butterfly Brawl at the Iconic Santa Monica Pier – August 22, 2026
Santa Monica, CA — The highly anticipated Butterfly Brawl is officially back, and registration is now open for fighters looking to compete on one of the most unique and iconic stages in combat sports—the Santa Monica Pier. Scheduled for August 22, 2026, this year’s event promises to be bigger, more electrifying, and more impactful than ever before.
Originally launched in 2017 as the “Butterfly Ball,” the event was created to honor the life of Yassy Hosseini and support charitable causes. In its early years, the event benefited organizations such as City of Hope. As the event has evolved into the Butterfly Brawl, it now proudly supports the American Cancer Society as its official beneficiary for 2026.
Over the years, the Butterfly Brawl has become a unique fusion of elite boxing and world-class entertainment, featuring unforgettable performances from global superstars including The Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak, Jermaine Dupri, and Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie Boys. While this year’s musical talent has yet to be announced, expectations remain high given the event’s history of top-tier performances.
The 2026 Butterfly Brawl will once again reach a wide audience through streaming distribution across platforms operated by NBC and Telemundo, continuing the momentum from last year’s successful broadcast presence.
Fighters from across the country are encouraged to register now for a chance to compete under the lights at one of the most scenic venues in sports. All fighters must be registered at Fightbook.com to be considered. Fightbook is a free platform designed to connect everyone in combat sports—fighters, promoters, managers, and matchmakers—streamlining opportunities and making it easier than ever to get matched and compete.
Mark Habibi, Founder and President of Fightbook, expressed his excitement about the event’s return:
“We’re thrilled to bring the Butterfly Brawl back to the Santa Monica Pier. This event continues to grow every year, and 2026 is going to be our biggest one yet. The energy, the support from the city, and the platform we’re building for fighters is truly special. I can’t wait to run this back again.”
In addition to fighters, the Butterfly Brawl is actively seeking corporate sponsors and partners to be part of this high-profile event. With strong digital distribution and a vibrant live audience, the Butterfly Brawl offers a powerful platform for brands looking to align with sports, entertainment, and community impact.
With the full backing of the local community and a proven track record of success, the Butterfly Brawl is set to deliver an unforgettable night of action, music, and purpose.
Registration is now open. Fighters, sponsors, and partners are encouraged to secure their place early for this one-of-a-kind event.

Casino Hotel Maryland in Hanover, Maryland, and broadcast in real time on ProBoxTV (7:00 pm EDT/4:00 pm PDT).
In the 10-round super featherweight co-feature, entertaining fan favorite “The Franchise” Francois Scarboro Jr. (13-0, 9 KOs) of Cheverly, Maryland, will look to defend his home turf against Managua, Nicaragua’s Maxwel Montes (13-4-1, 7 KOs).
And in the chief supporting bout, 21-year-old Washington, DC-based welterweight prospect David “The Bodysnatcher” Whitmire (11-0, 8 KOs) will take his toughest test to date against Albuquerque veteran Jose Luis “Guerro” Sanchez (14-6-2, 4 KOs).
Tickets to attend ProBoxTV’s “The Contender Series” in person at Live! Casino Hotel Maryland in Hanover are available by clicking HERE.
Now living in Paramount, California, but originally hailing from Tsetserleg, Mongolia, Tsendbaatar Erdenebat competed for his native country in the 2020 Tokyo and 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, and won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games before turning professional in 2018.
Erdenebat is a ProBoxTV veteran, having already appeared five times in the proving grounds of the Future Stars and Contender Series. In February of last year, the 29-year-old southpaw captured the WBA Central Asia Lightweight title with a dominant TKO victory over Mexico’s (then 15-1-2) Pedro Bernal in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking his first time fighting on home soil and fulfilling his dream of winning a title in his native Mongolia. Erdenebat was last seen scoring a short-notice unanimous 10-round decision over ultra-tough Mexican contender Abraham Montoya in November of last year, live on ProBoxTV.
Originally from Bridgetown, Barbados, and now living in the DMV, 34-year-old Cobia Breedy was a standout amateur boxer who made his country’s 2024 Olympic team but did not compete due to a shoulder injury. Breedy has trained out of Barry Hunter’s HeadBangers Gym in Washington DC for the past couple of years, having relocated to the area prior to turning pro in 2014.
Breedy’s only career loss came to a different Mongolian Olympian, 2012 Olympic Gold medallist Tugstsogt Nyambayar, in September 2020. Although Breedy went down in rounds one and two, he battled back to lose a tight split decision in a world title eliminator, televised live on Showtime. Breedy has sparred with pound-for-pound entrants Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis. He was last seen in the ring stopping 19-4 Dexter Marques in October of last year.
Several other exciting Future Stars series bouts are scheduled, featuring several local and national prospects.
In a six-round welterweight showcase, 21-year-old phenom Benjamin Johnson (7-0. 7 KOs) of Springdale, Maryland will face battle-hardened Lesther “El Negrito Explosivo” Espino (10-8, 8 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua.
Charles “LOLO” Harris Jr. (11-1, 7 KOs) of Rialto, California, will return against Schereville, Indiana’s Blake Fialka (2-2-1, 1 KOs) in a super lightweight six-rounder; 22-year-old former amateur standout Jordan “Iceman” Roach (7-0, 2 KOs) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, will take on Holman “La Pulga” Matamoros (2-1) of Matagalpa, Nicaragua in a super flyweight six-rounder; 25-year-old Washington, DC southpaw Jay Stancil III (4-0, 1 KO) will continue his development against Nicolas Daniels (0-1) of Westland, Michigan, in a featherweight four-rounder, and in a women’s six-round bantamweight tussle, Rianna Rios (10-0, 2 KOs) of San Antonio will test herself against Elena “Guerrerita’ Ventura (9-11-2, 2 KOs) of San Antonino Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca, Mexico.
In a very special added attraction, former amateur champion and brand-new ProBox Promotions signee “Razor” Ramon Ordonez of Newark, New Jersey, will make his highly anticipated pro debut against Carlos Davila Villalobos (1-1) of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Before turning professional, 19-year-old southpaw Ordonez was one of the United States’ top amateurs, making it to the US national team in 2025 while competing at the World Championships in England and the World Boxing Cup in Brazil as the youngest boxer on the squad. A five-time national champion, Ordonez had his first amateur bout at age eight and fought in more than 50 bouts, with most coming in national tournaments.
Ordonez, whose parents hail from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, says his goal is to become the next Puerto Rican superstar, following in the footsteps of his favorites, Felix “Tito” Trinidad and Miguel Cotto.
On fight night, doors open at 3:30 pm EDT and the first fight starts at 4:00 pm EDT. The Hall at Live! Casino Hotel Maryland is located at 7002 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover, Maryland. Free Parking for All Events. All Ages to Enter, Must Be 21+ To Drink.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 20, 2026) Rising Star Promotions (RSP) proudly announces the signing of battle-tested fringe contender Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis (19-4-1, 6 KOs) of Wilmington, Delaware. Davis will headline RSP’s inaugural Philadelphia event on Saturday, June 20th at the historic 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia, marking a major step forward in the company’s continued expansion into key fight markets.
Known for his toughness, ring IQ, and willingness to face elite competition, Davis has built a reputation as one of the most respected and avoided fighters in the Middleweight division. A proven competitor against top-tier opposition, Davis brings credibility, experience, and a fan-friendly style that makes him the perfect choice to headline RSP’s first show in Philadelphia.

“This is exactly the kind of fighter I want headlining our first event in Philly,” said Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, Founder and President of Rising Star Promotions. “I’ve been in the ring with Kyrone multiple times, he’s battle-tested, respected, and always in tough fights. Davis, who has shared the ring with some of the sport’s top names (David Benavidez, Yoenli Hernandez, Elijah Garcia, Anthony Dirrell to name a few) sees this partnership as an opportunity to reestablish himself in the title picture while connecting with a passionate regional fanbase.
“The goal is still the same, to become a world champion, adding RSP to my team will put me back in position to do just that. The future is bright like the bathroom lights in the morning. I Can’t wait to be back in the ring, I have some work to do.” – Davis.
The June 20 event at 2300 Arena (long regarded as one of the East Coast’s most iconic fight venues) will serve as the official launch of Rising Star Promotions’ Philadelphia presence. The card will feature a mix of established contenders and rising prospects, with additional bouts and opponent announcements to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy ‘The Governor’ Hyde Improves to 15-0 with 10th KO
CORK, Ireland (April 19, 2026) – Fighting at home for only the fourth time during his pro career, Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy “The Governor” Hyde (15-0, 10 KOs) kept his undefeated with a third-round knockout last night (Sat.) in the “Revolution” main event.
“Revolution,” presented by NoWhere2Hyde Promotions,, was streamed live globally via www.trillertv.com from Parochial Hall in Gurranabraher, Cork, Ireland.
The 6’ 4”, 26-year-old Hyde dominated his British challenger Mick “The Hammer” Hall (15-4, 2 KOs), hurting him early and often until the end mercifully came late in round three.
“I’m delighted to get another good win at home in front of a loud Irish crowd,” Hyde said after his fight. “I was happy with my performance and felt like I brought some of the things we have been working on in the gym into the ring on fight night. I have been working hard with my coach, Lee Beard, in Manchester, and feel like I’m improving and showing it in every fight. I’m already looking forward to the next one and I’m excited to see what the next opportunity is.”
“It’s great filling these small halls and at the same building,” commented event promoter and Tommy’s father, Gary Hyde. “Tommy was in with an experienced fighter. Tommy took full control of the right in round 1. He kept Hall on his back foot and as soon as he felt Tommy’s power, he was just trying to survive. Tommy landed a jab to the body, double jab to the head, and followed up with a vicious right uppercut that broke Hall’s nose. He lost any of his earlier ambitions and was counted out.”
Two other decorated Irish amateur boxers from Cork, pro-debuting welterweight Ryan McCarthy (1-0, 0 KOs) and light heavyweight Brian “Bone Breaker” Long (4-0, 2 KOs), also turned in impressive, winning performances on points in front of their joyous hometown fans.
McCarthy, a 2024 Irish Elite Champion, defeated his Brazilian foe Wendall “Para” Da Costa Santos (3-8-4, 0 KOs), 40-35, while Long, a 2024 Irish National Immediate Champion, shutout Londoner Ife Jarrett (0-13-1), 40-36.

OFFICIAL RESULTS FROM SATURDAY’S HISTORIC SD FIGHT NIGHT: FAMILY BUSINESS
OCEANSIDE, CALIF. (April 19, 2026) – SD Fight Night: Family Business, presented by G2G Promotions and Frontwave Arena, delivered a highly successful debut, setting the tone for a new era of boxing in San Diego. Broadcast live across North America by Integrated Sports Media on major cable providers, DISH, and digital platforms including Bash.tv, PPV.com, TrillerTV, and Fubo, the event marked a historic milestone—drawing the largest attendance for a boxing event in Frontwave Arena history at 5,000 tickets sold.
In the double main event and final fight of the evening, San Diego’s Julius “JuJu” Ballo (3-0) rose to the occasion in the toughest test of his young career, earning a unanimous decision victory over heavy-handed Roman Reyes (6-2, 5 KOs) of Santa Ana, Calif. Drawing from an uber-successful amateur career that included more than 60 bouts, the 2024 Golden Gloves champion showcased his speed, composure, and ring IQ, consistently picking his shots while neutralizing Reyes’ power. Despite Reyes entering the bout with five knockout wins and a reputation as a dangerous finisher, Ballo controlled the tempo throughout, using sharp combinations and disciplined movement to keep his opponent at bay.
Building on back-to-back statement wins to begin his professional career, Ballo once again displayed the maturity of a seasoned fighter, further solidifying his status as one of San Diego’s brightest young prospects. With another dominant performance in front of his hometown crowd, Ballo continued to deliver on the promise that has followed him since his standout amateur days.
“I took this fight minute by minute, punch by punch,” said Ballo. “This is only my third professional fight, but as the fight went on, I felt more and more comfortable. I thank my coaches for the brilliant gameplan. Reyes had a lot of experience, but I studied so hard for this fight. Everything in the ring comes naturally to me. I was born for this; I know boxing is my purpose. It was a great feeling to see 5,000 fans in attendance. I want all the smoke. I’ll fight whoever. I have a big fight coming up pretty soon.”
In the evening’s first half of the double main event,Ballo’s cousin Jonny Mansour (7-0, 2 KOs) remained unbeaten with a dominant performance over the dangerous William King (6-4-2, 3 KOs). Mansour controlled the fight from start to finish, badly hurting the Perris, Calif., resident in both the opening and final rounds. Displaying sharp footwork, speed, and composed aggression, Mansour dictated the pace throughout, leaving King unable to mount a consistent response. Attention turned to the judges following the action-packed eight round fight with Mansour registering a landslide decision victory. In an emotional moment before his walkout alongside the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, Mansour also shared a heartfelt tribute honoring his late mother, who passed away last year.
“It’s a blessing to share the card with my cousin JuJu,” said Mansour. “San Diego doesn’t have a world champion. Imagine if JuJu and I became world champions on the same night. This event marked a huge milestone for us. I asked everyone to put on a fight in San Diego, and no one wanted to do it. I bet on myself and chose to put my promoter hat on. SD Fight Night: Family Business was a major investment, and it paid off. King was an extremely tough opponent, and I was trying to get him out of there. I couldn’t have done this without God, my family, and my fans.”
In a clash between two highly touted undefeated welterweights, Daniel Morales (9-0, 5 KOs) protected his perfect professional record against Alejandro Quintana (7-1-1, 5 KOs). Morales became the aggressor early in round one and forced Tijuana, Mexico’s Quintana onto his back foot throughout the six round battle. Nearly ending the contest in the final minute of the last round, Morales preserved his undefeated record.
Fighting out of Oceanside, Calif., Angel Munoz (9-2, 5 KOs) delivered a near-perfect performance against Cruz Becerra (3-2, 1 KO) in a six round super welterweight bout. Successfully out-striking the Mexico native, Munoz scored a second-round knockdown and pushed the pace in the sixth round en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Pedro Angel Cruz (6-6, 4 KOs) from San Jose, Calif., stormed into hostile territory and wasted no time against San Diego veteran Angel Estrada (12-2-1, 9 KOs). Cruz took control immediately, cutting off the ring and pressuring from the opening bell before unloading a sharp three-punch left-hand combination from his southpaw stance that resulted in a devastating first round knockout, handing Estrada his first defeat since 2011.
Undefeated San Diego prospect Richard Fernandez Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs) displayed incredible durability and grit in his super bantamweight outing against Wild Card Boxing Gym’s Sugary Montales (6-3, 4 KOs). With both pugilists pushed to their limits and each scoring a knockdown in round two, Fernandez Jr. bullishly claimed a unanimous decision victory after six rounds.
Competing for the first time in his hometown of Oceanside, Calif., Kyle Erwin (11-3, 5 KOs) saw his hand raised following a back-and-forth brawl against Phoenix’s Jose Marruffo (15-20-2, 2 KOs). With the raucous Frontwave Arena crowd backing him, Erwin strategically countered the aggressive Marruffo before ultimately scoring a fifth-round knockout.
In a bantamweight tilt, Pomona, Calif.’s Isaac Anguiano (11-1-1, 5 KOs) quickly found his rhythm, pitching a shutout against Jose Negrete (4-3, 4 KOs). Chula Vista, Calif.’s John Ornelas (6-2-1, 3 KOs) dominantly inserted himself back in the win column following an overwhelming first round TKO victory over Brandon Mendoza (6-12, 6 KOs). Making a statement in his professional debut in front of his hometown crowd, San Diego’s Angel de la Cruz Ramirez (1-0, 1 KO) made quick work of Mexico City native Antonio Sosa (1-1, 1 KO), earning a first round knockout win. Franklin Garcia (2-0, 2 KOs) of Vista, Calif. kicked off the night of action in spectacular fashion, swarming North Carolina’s Rahmel McKinley (1-3) to secure a first round knockout victory.
