VIDEO: DADA 5000 INTERVIEW MARCH 2020 BYB Extreme Fighting Series
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (March 7, 2020) – Shannon Briggs was on hand for Dada 5000’s BYB Extreme Fighting “Brawl III: Brawl at The Rock” at the brand new Hard Rock Live at the new Hard Rock Guitar Hotel & Casino. Briggs took to the Trigon to tease fans of a possible upcoming fight in BYB Extreme Bare-Knuckle Brawls.
BYB Extreme Fighting Series was established to bring fight fans what they want most, ACTION! BYB Extreme Bare-Knuckle Brawls is designed to leave decisions to the combatants in the cage, not the judges. Close combat in BYB’s 3-sided Triangle cage, affectionately known as “The Trigon,” just about guarantees that. No other ring or cage in the world has angles of less than 90 degrees. With 60-degree angles, “The Trigon’ guarantees 180-degrees of mayhem. BYB Extreme combatants will work to take the action to the center of the cage versus risking getting caught up in one of ‘The Trigon’s’ tight corners.
“Tonight was epic, I wanted to see all finishes, I practice this when I say nothing in the mighty Trigon is gonna go the distance, I really wanted to hold true to that, you know the main event was an unintentional foul, I expected more, and then we had another one, two unintentional fouls that ruined my prediction,” said big homie Dada 5000.
When asked if we are going to see Shannon the Cannon Briggs in the Trigon, Dada 5000 responded with “Thats the game plan, that’s what we are looking for, to get the Cannon out there and let those guns go off.”
The main event super heavyweight showdown between Chris Barnett and Matt Kovacs was to be all fireworks, however was highlighted only by Chris “Beast Boy” Barnetts dancing ring walk. Soon after the opening bell Barnett found him self in one of the 60 degree corners and Kovacs instinctively, from his MMA background, threw a short elbow that connected on Huggybears chin. Barnett was facedown on the canvas for several minutes and when he stood up was still on very unsteady legs as he fell into the ropes. The fight was officially declared a no contest due to an unintentional blow.
Knockout artist Matt “MFD” Delanoit stopped BYB veteran Mike Trujillo in round one. Delanoit looked impressive as he knocked Trujillo down three times with the end coming at 1:12 of round one.
The Jackson/Quinones matchup was filled with drama, confusion and a decent performance by Jackson, just not Brian Jackson who won by DQ.
In an odd bout that was interrupted by a near ankle injury as Jackson entered the Tirgon, Jackson, was brought back to the locker room to have a look, causing a delay. In his absence, a Micheal Jackson look alike performer took the Trigon for a thrilling dance and lip-sync performance of all of Jackson’s hits to keep the fans warm.
Jackson returned to the Trigon and the bell rang for round number one, within the first minute and a tangle up near the ropes, Jackson slipped down to the canvas and Quinones threw a punch that landed on the back of Jackson’s neck/upper-back. The fight was stopped and Jackson was awarded the win by DQ.
Against Dada 5000 wishes of wanting all finishes, the Rene Rodriguez Robert Brown matchup was the only matchup to go to decision 50-45 going to Rene Rodriguez.
John Michael Escoboa knocked out Leo Pla of Wichita KS, in the second round. Escoboa’s superior experience shined in his win tonight.
Luiz Melo stopped Robert Washington at 1:58 of the third round. Washington was deducted a point for holding the far more active and skilled Melo.
Heavyweight Lorenzo Hood knocked out Justin Grizzard with a barrage of punches with the end coming at 1:06 of the first round.
Christine “Knuckles” Stanley knocked down Sheena Brandenburg twice, finishing her at 50 seconds into the first round.
In the first fight, with the first punch, a jab, Carlos Alexandre Da Costa knocked out Colton Bowen. Bowen went down and was counted out at 23 seconds, including the 10 count.
“Overall success, this is just the beginning, history in the making we are coming right back here in a couple months” concluded Dada 5000.

Miami Fight Night on DAZN during Super Bowl Week in Miami got kickstarted live from Meridian at Island Gardens with exciting bouts.
In the main event Demetrius Andrade (28-0 17 KOs) defends his WBO World Middleweight strap and stops Luke Keeler in 9 (17-2-1 5 KOs). Andrade dropped Keeler with the first one two of the fight in what looked like the very quick beginning to a very fast end. However what appeared to be a highlight reel performance by the champion, instead turned into a struggle to take out an opponent who did not belong in a world title fight. Andrade did not look like a polished Champion looking to shine on a huge stage and awaiting a big ticket payday or a marquee world title fight. He appeared more like a desperate fighter chasing a KnockOut versus an opponent who would not stand to round with any of the other top five guys in the division. In the end there was a devastating barrage of punches by the champion and the fight officially ended at two minutes 49 seconds of the ninth round.
In the co-main event 2012 Olympian JoJo Diaz 30-1(15 KO) rips the IBF Super-Featherweight title from Tevin Farmer 30-4-1(6 KO) after a war of words and battle in Miami.
Diaz won the opening round and then Farmer won the next with a sharp jab and missile left hands, Diaz gets a nasty cut above his eye and is pouring blood the next couple rounds. The cut does not seem to slow the challenger as rounds five and six the two go toe to toe with the better work and accuracy going to Diaz. Through eight rounds I had it 6-2 Diaz. Round ten was a great tale of two halves with Diaz having the opening while he was unclose and Farmer when he was able to box at range behind his jab. Diaz worked through the blood and cut and controlled the final two rounds and round twelve I felt Farmer was a bit concerned and knew he needed a knockout. Both fighter left it all in the ring during the final stanza ending with Diaz bursting a scream of relief and success as the final bell rings I scored this fight 116-112. The judges came through with 116-112 and 115-113 twice. “He put up a helluva fight and did a great job and won” said Farmer after the fight.
Seven time, seven division female superstar Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano improved her incredible record to 38-1-1(28KO). Serrano exploded out of the blue corner in round one and charged right at Simone Aparecida Da Silva 17-15 the former title contender from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Serrano boxed brilliantly setting up body shots and great uppercuts. Da Silva was not afraid to mix it up and fought valiantly until :53 of round number 3 when Sam Burgos called a stop to the action saving Da Silva from herself officially a TKO win for Serrano.

MJ started on his front foot and went after the champion loading up and getting in range with nice body shots. Roman suffered a cut above the right eye around round 10. Roman came forward the final fought hard to the final bell with Akhmadaliev winning the split decision with the cards reading 115-113 for Roman and 115-113 twice for Akhmadaliev.

Ammo set the pace early working behind his southpaw jab and setting up his powerful left hands. A hard overhand left in round number two put Sanchez on his ass, and again twice in the fourth marking the official end.
Colombian Roamer Alexis Angulo 26-1(22KO) retained his WBO Latino Super Middleweight Title in a chess match upset win over previously unbeaten Anthony “The Magician” Sims Jr 20-1 (18KO). A point in round 5 taken from Angulo for holding did not affect his lead as he won the close rounds with aggression hunting down Sims who spent nearly every minute of the GBfight jabbing, fainting, bouncing on his feet & moving out of harm which was Angulo.
The final cards were split with all judges turning in scores of 96-93 1 card going to Sims and the other 2 to the winner Angulo.

Prescott of Miami via Barranquilla, Colombia is known as “Khanqueror” for his notorious first round knockout of then rising star Amir Khan and also going ten rounds with Terrance Crawford. Navarro got a different version of Prescott tonight and was able to have his way with the worn journeyman landing a variety of shots throughout the eight rounds. Where Navarro has scored KOs in seven of his last eight fights, he was unable to stop the rugged Prescott. The judge’s cards came in at 78-74 and 79-73 and 80-72.

Early in round one Dychko landed clean left hooks and right hands to the jaw of Austin, and for a minute it looked like the Rainman may not make it out of the round one. Round 2 Dychko continued to fire shots at Austin, landing solid right hands and left hooks. Midway through round three Austin turned to referee James Warring with an apparent left arm injury, after a doctor inspection the fight was called a TKO at 1:48 of round 3.
Welterweight Puerto Rican Derrieck “Pretty Boy” Cuevas 21-0-1(14KO) picked up a unanimous decision win over Ghanaian veteran Albert Mensah 31-8-1. Mensah fought most of the fight with his back on the ropes and in his own corner while the Puerto Rican played sharpshooter, slipping most of the seldom counter-attacks from Mensah. The switch-hitting slick Puerto Rican Cuevas, coming off of two solid decision wins over Breidis Prescott and Ed Paredes, was unable to hurt Mensah who offered just enough to stay in the fight and at times appeared to be sleeping on the ropes. A late fight surge from Mensah was not enough as the final cards read 78-74 and 80-72 twice.
In a crowd-pleasing brawl Super Middleweight Cuban Olympian Irosvani Duvergel 6-0(3KO) came off of the canvas to drop the hard-charging Jerhed ‘The Underdog” Fenderson 4-11(2KO) twice in round 3 and again in round five. The Underdog, who was just that, came to fight and was confident in his attempt providing a solid fistic attempt hurting the Cuban again late in the fight and had the crowd on thier feet screaming for more of the same. After 6 exciting rounds, the cards read 59-53 59-54 twice in favor of the Cuban, however, the Underdog gained fans and the respect of the promoter The Heavyweight Factory who ordered an immediate rematch after the decision was announced.
Undefeated super lightweight Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon 16-0(12KO), fully recovered from a knee injury was back to work with seasoned veteran Robert “Red Hot” Frankel 37-21-1(15KO). Loon worked at a steady pace through the eight rounds and took most of the rounds by outworking Frankel, however not winning the rounds in overwhelming fashion. I had the fight 78-74, as did one judge, the other two scored the fight 80-72.
Ricardo “Hindo” Espinoza 22-2 (19 KOs) knocked Colombian Yeison Vargas 17-1 (12 KOs) down three times in round two retaining the WBO-NABO strap live on Telemundo. In what was sure to be a slugfest with the hard-hitting Espinoza and undefeated Vargas, the two stayed on script and came out firing at the bell in round one. Hindo pushed forward with conviction while Vargas did all he could not to take a backward step, Hindo won this chess match and landed the heavier shots and started to wear Vargas down early. Hindo knocked Vargas down twice early in round two with two heavy left hooks and then a third and final time at 1:19 of round one. Espinoza went from an unknown fighter to a legitimate world ranked contender overnight. Prescott was on unsteady legs, barely made the count and was saved by the bell. Where it looked like it could be an early night for Prescott, the veteran and well-known Miami via Barranquilla, Colombia, he came back strong in the mid rounds with volume head and body punching. Cuevas of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico was sharp with his attack, firing blistering shots down the line and creating a fun technical clean fight. Cuevas is impressive and beats the gatekeeper with a unanimous decision victory.
Light Heavyweight Ulysses Diaz 8-0(7KO) stopped Fabian Valdez 3-5 at :49 of round number two in a fight Valdez was never in. Diaz overpowered Valdez from the opening bell.
Lightweight Manuel Correa 3-0 (2KO) took the unanimous decision win over Dustin Arnold 6-2(1KO) with all the cards reading 40-36.
In the opening bout of the evening heavyweight Hector “Ready for War” Hodge 3-3 (1KO) was too much for Jairus Gladney 1-1 as he put the Philly fighter down twice in round two. Officially a TKO for Hodge at 1:43 of round number two.
Puerto Rican amateur standout featherweight Luis “El Chucho” Melendez 3-1(3KO) destroyed Jonathan Conde 0-1 fighting out of Miami. Crowd favorite and local brawler Jessy Cruz 15-7-1 (6KO) opened strong against
A fleet-footed Isaias Martin Cardona 25-14(17KO) who did all he could to keep distance from the hard-charging southpaw Cruz, including several Ali Shuffles, which was by far his most effective tactic. A right hand in round three from Cruz dropped Cardona in again in the fourth with Cruz starting to close distance only to be saved by the bell, and saved yet again by referee Frank Gentile who stepped into the corner of the Mexican fighter and waved the fight off, officially a TKO win at :01 of round number five.
In a bizarre matchup between Super Featherweights Hairon Socarras 20-0-3(13KO) and Mike Oliver 26-10(8KO) the end came quickly as Oliver went down twice and visibly unwilling to continue as he was rendered his second count, officially KO win for Socarras at :50 of round one. It was clear Oliver did not want to fight.
In a spirited slugfest Cuban amateur star Livan Navarro “Machine Gun Kid”10-0(7KO) outpunched and dropped Colombian Wilfrido Buelvas 19-11(13KO) twice in round three and twice in round four earning himself a TKO win at :54 of round number four.
Redemption in Miami promoted by New Champions Promotions rocked Anthony Hall in Miami tonight when Yuriorkis “El Ciclon de Guantánamo” Gamboa 29-2, (17 KOs) and Juan Manuel Lopez each won to set up a long-awaited match.
Gamboa won a one-sided unanimous decision victory over two-time world title challenger Miguel Beltran, Jr. 33-7 (22 KO). The four-time world champion in three weight divisions and Olympic Gold Medalist Gamboa dumped Beltran on the canvas right at the end of round one, in what looked like was the start of the end, but it was just the beginning. Gamboa stalked Beltran throughout the next 9 rounds with flashes of his old self. Sharp counter punching and slick feet, Gamboa had Beltran in trouble a few times and finished strong in a great performance.
Former World Featherweight Champion Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez 36-6, (32 KO) put Cristian Ruben Mino 19-3(17KO) on the canvas four times en route to a unanimous decision victory. In round five Mino rocked JuanMa with a left hook in what looked to be a glimpse of JuanMa’s vulnerability of a weak chin which has plagued his career. Lopez was on the ropes and in trouble, however, he was able to work through and work to a victory, but never flashed the brilliance he once possessed. The final cards reading 97-88 and 96-89 twice.
In 2009 Gamboa and “Juanma” were both world titles and rising pound-for-pound stars on a collision course boxing fans were begging for. Both fighters were promoted by Bob Arums’ Top Rank who chose to let the fight marinate. Instead, Lopez’s career got derailed when got knocked out twice by Orlando Salido. Gamboa went to Omaha and introduced the world to Bud Crawford in a clash of undefeated lightweights. Gamboa has gone on to “win some lose some” highly unnoticed and Lopez has lost more than he has won, going 2-4 in his last 6, stopped all 4 times.
“This is something that has been a long time coming. It is something that I have promised to my fans in Miami, which is the city that has really embraced me when I first got here from Cuba,” states Gamboa.
The Cuban and Puerto Rican are now back on track for a collision course after ten years in the making. Long overdue, for sure, over marinated perhaps, great boxing, absolutely.
The live broadcast of the pay per view event “Redemption in Miami” from Anthony Hall kickstarted with a showcasing of undefeated Cuban Bantamweight Jorge Romero improving to 12-0(9KO) pounding out a shutout performance against tough and relentless Jason Vera 5-6(3KO).
Crowd favorite Harold Calderon 18-0, (11KO) from Miami, put Emiliano “Pacman” Martin Garcia 16-3, (13 KO) of Buenos Aires, Argentina on the canvas three times enroute to a strong TKO victory. To the chant of Harold-Harold-Harold from the start of the match, the crowd favorite did not disappoint. Calderon’s straight left hand dropped Martin in round two in a fight he was never really in. Outpowered, outboxed and outclassed was Martin knocking him down twice in the seventh round and the final knockdown came courtesy of a right hand when referee Sam Burgos called a halt to the bout at 1:11 of round seven.
Welterweights’ Sonny Duversonne 4-0(2KO) and Jesus “Zues” Almonte 4-1(2KO) opened the evening at Arnold Hall in Miami with a slow-brewed chess match that nearly turned into a fight of substance on a few occasions however never erupted into the battle it could have been, instead only a brutal game of tag that the judges scored 58-56, 59-55 and 59-55 for Duversonne, handing the Atlantia boxer his first loss as a pro.
A packed house in Miami at Arnold Hall in anticipation of JuanMa Lopez and Yuriokios Gamboa upcoming matches, including heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz.
Friday, September 28, 2018 – With another great night of world-class professional boxing at the Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., promoter Kris Lawrence and The Heavyweight Factory returned with “Rumble at the Rock 2.”

Renteria found success with his straight right-hand counter defending the constant attack but overall was outworked and outclassed by The Korican Kid in a majority of this entertaining tilt. Yoon’s’ attack was constant to the final bell winning most rounds on all scorecards. The final cards came in at 100-90 99-91 and 98-92
In the co-main event promising undefeated welterweight Livan “Machine Gun Kid” Navarro 9-0(5 KOs), a former heavily decorated amateur living in Miami via Havana Cuba squared off with once-beaten former WBC Latino Welterweight Champion and fellow Cuban Armando “The Gentleman” Alvarez 18-2(12 KOs) of Key West. In a fun, scrappy back and forth engagement, both fighters tested each other’s power, skill, and chin. Navarro came out very aggressive and mean to face the more experienced Alvarez and took an early lead outworking him with punches from every angle. Alvarez exchanged fire and started to get into a rhythm and had some nice middle rounds when Navarro seemed to slow his attack a bit. Midway through round seven The Machine Gun Kid stepped on the gas again and fought hard and more aggressive to the final bell. Navarro remains unbeaten with a unanimous decision victory with the cards reading 98-92 and 97-73 twice.
Undefeated welterweight Puerto Rican power puncher Derrieck Cuevas18-0-1(14KO) put tough Mexican veteran Silverio Ortiz 37-23(18KO) on the canvas at the very end of the third round, a product of a beautiful left hook. It seemed at this point the fight may be over, Ortiz had other plans, he came forward finding a home for his wild overhand right often set up by a big left hook to the body. Cuevas, making his debut for The Heavyweight Factory stayed focused while sharp shooting the hard-charging Mexican. Ortiz threw the overhand right so often he often caught Cuevas behind the head and was charged a valuable point in round 7, which was one of the best rounds of the fight. Cuevas was able to punch between the wild relentless overhand rights and body shots from Ortiz and won by a unanimous decision win with the cards reading 95-93 96-92 and an odd 98-90.
Fighting out of Miami via Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan’s Mussa “Warrior” Tursyngaliyev (8-0, 6 KOs) the WBA International Featherweight Champion, had his hands full with Monteira, Colombia’s Deivi “El Cabo” Bassa (20-6, 12 KOs). The “Warriors” superior footwork and counterpunching shined throughout the bout as he wore El Cabo down, with angels, counterpunching and blistering straight right hands that snuck through the high guard of the Colombian Bassa. A nice technical showing from the Kazakhstani who remains undefeated.
Featherweight Jessy Cruz 14-7-1(6KO) stopped Sergio Aguilar 2-10(2KO) at the end of round three. Often do we see an awkward fight between a southpaw and orthodox fighter, and this fight was no different including an odd ending which had Aquilar staying put on his stool when the bell sounded for round four. Round three saw its only true action of the scheduled six-rounder with a nice assault coming from “Beast Boy” Cruz, who is always in a great fight, at the end of the round. Not sure from this vantage point what made Aguilar quit, punches, heart or injury? Officially a TKO win for Cruz.
Miamian Jorge De Jesus Romero 11-0(9KO) was launching bombs on Jeno Tonte 8-4(7KO) from Budapest Hungary while working hard to keep his hard-hitting reputation intact. It was a constant attack from Romero that broke the Hungarian fighter down fast. Round three Romeros’ pressure had Tonte on a retreat of survival who was finally trapped in a corner by a barrage of punches when referee Sam Burgos stepped in to stop the action at of 2:47 of round 3.
Lightweights Dustin “DGA” Arnold 6-1(2KO) and Raul Chirino 12-10(6KO) gave the crowd a great entertaining clash. Arnold established the early rounds behind a strong jab and right hand. Chirino caught a groove in the late rounds but it was Arnold who was more accurate and landed the more meaningful punches throughout this 6 round lightweight battle. The crowd was alive and on their feet as both Arnold and Chirino fought like warriors to the final bell. The scorecards were 58-56 59-55 twice with the card.

In the 10-round main event, undefeated Miami-based welterweight prospect turning contender Harold “King” Calderon 17-0(10 KO) outboxed former undefeated crosstown rival John David “Pretty Boy” Martinez 10-1(8 KO) while picking him apart with straight left hands and body shots. Calderon was superior tonight and his confidence was evident from the opening of round one. Martinez who had great crowd support was able to offer a challenge and occasional nice counter punches, however unable to catch a stride of momentum anywhere in the bout. As the fight wore on, the southpaw Calderon and his bigger boisterous crowd support carried the momentum and the energy of the arena. As the announcer announced the final round, the crowd went into a bleacher stomping frenzy cheering on the both Miami boxers. The final scorecards came in at 99-91, 100-90 and 100-90.
In the 10 round co-main event, promising 19-year-old Logan Yoon 12-0(10KO), the WBO-NABO Youth Super Lightweight Champion and WBO #13-rated contender earned himself a unanimous decision win over Colombian veteran Luis E Flores 24-10(20KO). Yoon chipped away at a blue-collar workman’s pace each minute of each round and stuck behind his jab and straight left hand, landing his power punch occasionally. A stern test and cautious battle for the Hawaiian who walked away with a unanimous decision victory in an otherwise uneventful but meaningful test. Official scorecards came in at 99-91 and 97-93 twice.
Towering 6? 9? Kazakhstani heavyweight Ivan Dychko (7-0, 7 KOs), the two-time Olympic super-heavyweight bronze medallist, stepped in the squared circle with long-time heavyweight gatekeeper Maurice “Mo Bettah” Harris (26-22-3, 11 KOs). Just 1:39 into round number one Dychko hit Harris with a simple left hook that toppled and dispensed the New Jersey native to the canvas where Mo felt it was better to stay down as looked very comfortable for the next 10 seconds. Unfortunately, we were not able to see what the Kaz had tonight.
To the crowds’ delight, Raul Chirino 11-9(6KO) knocked down Jessy Cruz 13-7-1(5KO) with a beautiful straight right hand at the end of round two. Cruz popped Chirino with a straight left hand and put him down in the fourth. The two combatants displayed alike pugilistic enthusiasm during this pleasurable face smashing body crushing matchup. There were no jabs in this scrap, just a fun throwdown between two warriors right to the final bell which had both guys swinging for glory! After six rounds of boxing, we go to the scorecards: 58-54, and 57-55 twice with the win going to Jessy Cruz.
Livan “Machine Gun Kid” Navarro from Havana Cuba got a big KO win over Julio C Reynoson 12-2(7KO). Navarro, now fighting out of Miami 8-0(6KO) dug a body shot into Reynonoson that put the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic fighter down and out 2:47 of just the first round.
Light Heavyweights Ulysses Diaz 6-0(5KO) and Israel Echevarria form Chicago 3-5(2KO) gave the crowd an entertaining match with Diaz coming out with the win with the scorecards reading 39-37 40-36. The Chicagoan was not too happy with the decision and he was visibly upset in the ring after Diaz looked to swipe a kick at him. Echevarria was sure to let the crowd know he was not happy with either; the after fight antics, nor the decision, on the way out of the ring and arena.
Super Middleweight Irosvani Duvergel originally from Guantanamo, Cuba now fighting out of Miami improved to 3-0(2KO) with a unanimous decision win over tough as nails Elie Agustama 6-9(3KO)
In a spirited crowd-pleasing lightweight tussle Dustin “Godson” Arnold 5-1(1KO) fought his way to a strong unanimous decision win over the previously unbeaten Daniel Placeres 6-1(5KO). Arnold pressed the action early connecting with a strong left hook right-hand combination in round two and the counterpunching southpaw returned the points later in the round which was a forecast of the final four excellent rounds. After 6 exciting rounds, the judge’s cards came in at 60-54 58-56 59-55.
Super Bantamweight Lawrence Newton kept his perfect record intact at 10-0(6KO) but not without a stern test from journeyman Pedro Melo 17-19-2(8KO) from Tijuana Mexico.
Sporting beautiful silver and blue trunks BT Newton worked behind a sharp and commanding jab from the opening bell, but the tenacious Melo insisted on paying the tax of eating heavy leather from Newton to get inside. Melo kept constant pressure on the slick Newton while creating competitive infight battles throughout the tilt. Judges scorecards read 60-54 and 59-55 twice for Newton for the unanimous decision win.
Professional boxing returned to the Seminole Hard Rock and Casino in Hollywood Florida tonight with “Rumble at the Rock” as presented by Kris Lawrence and The Heavyweight Factory.
In a crowd pleasing main event Pilipino Reymart “GenSan Assassin” Gaballo 19-0(17KO) fought his way to a WBA title with a well-earned unanimous decision victory over St Louis’s Stephon “Showstopper” Young 18-1-3(7KO). Young ended up on the canvas once in the lone knockdown early in the fight, a round which saw Young barely make it out of. Gaballo controlled pace throughout the fight, with aggression and a straight right hand that was very accurate. Young fought off of his back foot from the knockdown on until round 11 where the St Louis product seemed to dig deep change his fight plan and finally let his hands go. A very strong finish to the fight had Young winning the last two rounds but clearly not enough for the victory as Gaballo had control of rounds 2 through 10 and ultimately was crowned WBA champion of the Bantamweight division by way of a unanimous decision.
Former WBA World Super Bantamweight Champion Juan Carlos Payano 19-1, (9 KOs) came off the canvas in round three to comeback and claim the NABO Intercontinental Super Bantamweight title in a unanimous decision win over previously undefeated Philippine “Magic” Mike Plania 14-0, (7 KOs) Thirty-three-year-old southpaw Payano, a native of the Dominican Republic, who now lives in Miami, is in the third fight of his mission to regain his world championship. He has now notched three solid victories since splitting a pair of championship fights with top-level bantam Rau’shee Warren. After 10 rounds of a competitive match the official cards read 96-93, and two at 97-92 for Payano.
Two time Olympic Bronze medalist Ivan Dychko 8-0(7KO) demolished Stephan Kirnon 2-1(2KO) in under one minute. The 6’9” Dychko connected with nearly every punch through the fight and a final combination that put the Miami based fighter on his back for several minutes. Where it seemed too easy for Dychko, his superior skills shined impressively tonight.
Fast-rising Hawaiian welterweight prospect Logan “Korican Kid” Yoon (10-0, 10 KOs) stepped up in competition tonight and won the NABO Super Lightweight title when he faced Mexican former two-time world champion Juan Carlos Salgado (27-7-1, 16 KOs) The Korican Kid found out the same punches that took out his previous opponents, did not seem to affect the Mexican former champion, however this did not slow his attack as he kept a high accurate punch output outpointing Salgado in a spirited affair while going the distance for the first time in his young career. A strong finish by Yoon made for exciting final rounds that included the only knockdown of the fight in round nine. This prospect is officially turning into a contender. The cards read 98-91 ad 97-92 100-89.
The action got started early with a familiar name as Roberto Duran Jr 1-0-(1KO) made a successful debut with an impressive knockout win over Miguel Morales. Duran Jr. the oldest son of the legend Roberto Duran, picked his shots throughout the four-round tussle ultimately setting a beautiful uppercut that put Morales to the canvas midway through round four. Morales able to rise to his feet was met with 3 more power shots that again showed him the canvas. Official time was 2:21 in round 4.
Jorge De Jesus Romero from Miami kept the train rolling with a knockout win over Szilverszter Ajtai 12-10-9. Romero was too much for the Hungarian Ajtai. The stoppage came at 2:01 of the 2nd round.
Boca Raton Steve “The Ambassador” Geffrard 17-2(12KO) picked up a nice hometown KO win over Zoltan Sera 38-19(20KO). Geffrard hunted Sera down with sharp jabs, strong right hands, uppercuts and left hooks to the body. Sera threw wild haymakers and often held on for dear life after each combination the American Born Haitian Geffrard threw. Geffrard put Sera on the floor a few times through the bout until Sam Burgos finally waved a stop to the fight at 39 seconds of round four with an official TKO win for Steve Geffrard
Kazakhstan born Mussa Tursyngaliyev 8-0(7KO) won the NABA USA title tonight with a 3rd round TKO win over Luis Hinojosa. Tursyngaliyev, now fighting out of Miami showed his enormous power from the start of round one against Dominican fighter Luis Hinojosa 31-14. Hinojosa is as game as they come eating leather without ever taking a step back, exception only when getting knocked back or knocked down. By the advice of his corner the fight was called after the third round officially a TKO title win for Tursyngaliyev.
Sam Rodriguez 5-2(3KO) of Palm Bay Florida came to fight as the underdog and pulled off the upset over crowd favorite Jessy Cruz 12-7. In a very entertaining back and forth battle putting Cruz on the canvas on his way to a unanimous decision win.
Harold Calderon 15-0(9KO) from Miami kept his perfect record in tact with a 3rd round TKO win over tough Ronald Montes 18-8(16KO) from Barranquilla COL. Calderon seemed to have problems with the awkward Montes however the punishment he took in the first three rounds were enough for his corner to wave his fighter off at the end of the third officially giving Calderon a TKO win.
Since starting his career in August of 2016 John David Martinez has put together a nice, but untested unbeaten record of 9-0. Pretty Boy Martinez added another win to his record, this one was questionable as he was awarded a majority decision win over Jose Cortes to the displeasure of the crowd. I had the fight a draw the same as judge number one 57-57 where the other two judges scored 58-56.
Special Guests included former heavyweight champions Michael Moorer, Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield and Timberland.
Former Champion Jean Pascal 32-5-1(19) fought the last fight of his career in dramatic fashion on Premier Boxing Championships at Hialeah Park Racing and Casino in Hialeah, Florida. Facing young and hungry knockout artist Ahmed Elbiali 16-1(13KO) Pascal got off to a slow start as usual and got crushed with a big shot early but with flashes of his youth the Haitian born Pascal outboxed the hungry Egyptian often landing crushing overhand rights and left hook counters. Elbiali kept his attack however grew visibly frustrated, worn and tired as the fight wore on. Pascal who makes his home in Canada announced earlier in the week this would be the last fight of his career and as promised, he made it memorable. For Elbiali he is young strong and has a great future, he will be back.
With WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder sitting ringside in the broadcast booth Luis King Kong Ortiz 28-0 (24KO) demolished canary in the coalmine opponent Daniel Martz 16-6-1 (13 KO) knocking him down twice finally with a crushing left hand in round one. Once easily dispensing Martz Ortiz looked through the ropes and challenged Wilder. The two heavyweights were to fight at the Barclays Center in early November until the WBC refused to sanction the when Ortiz tested positive for two banned diuretics. Team Ortiz claimed the medication to be for high blood pressure. The WBC has since cleared the Cuban, however Wilder has not stating they two will meet. The WBC Champion got into the ring and went face to face with Ortiz on Camera.
Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella knocked Alex Martin down in the first round with a perfectly timed right hook and followed up with a near shutout from that point on. Southpaw Perrella fighting out of Fort Myers, FL used excellent effective aggression and sharp shots and kept his fellow southpaw retreating with counter punches. Hardpunching Perrella improves to 15-1(13KO) while Chicago’s Martin falls to 13-3(5KO). The cards read 79-72, 77-74 with Goodfella Perrella winning a unanimous decision..
The first televised fight of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 was a great battle of unbeaten prospects. Hot Philadelphia prospect and former Golden Gloves Champion Stephen Fulton 12-0(5KO) kept his unbeaten record in tact with a hard-earned battle with Glendale California’s Adam Lopez 9-1 (3KO) . Lopez was the aggressor throughout the bout of pugilistic ebb and flows but it was Fulton who did a great job of counter punching off of his back foot and winning inside exchanges. Lopez took an early lead but Fulton won the judges cards with a majority decision win, with the cards reading 76-76 78-74 77-75.

Premier Boxing Championships at Hialeah Park Racing and Casino in Hialeah, Florida got off to a brutal start with a string of knockouts and a war.
Kazakhstanian 2 time Bronze medalist Ivan Dychko made quick work of veteran Carlos Sandoval 10-15-1 with a TKO win at 2:22 of round one improving to 3-0(3KO)
Lightweight Joshua Zunia 9-0(4KO) won the battle of unbeaten with a fourth-round TKO. Raynell WIlliams 12-1(6KO) tasted defeat for the first time as a pro with the end coming at 2:00 of round 4.
Cuban welterweight Livan Navarro 7-0 (5KO) remained perfect and took Willie Jones 5-1(2KO) unbeaten record with a quick first-round TKO.
Seemjay Thomas 8-1(5KO) stalked Charles Mulindwa 12-6-1(5KO) from the opening bell and landed strong shots on the tall Uganda native Mulindwa who rose from one knockdown. The second time Thomas dispensed him on the canvas he got up with the shaky leg dance. Thomas gets the KO win, round 1!
Eduardo Perez Diaz 5-0(4KO) kept his unbeaten record intact as he fought off hard-charging bleeding southpaw Noe Lozano 2-2. In a spirited brutal chess match where a clash of heads opened a deep cut on Lozano in round one, Diaz did not enough to take the warrior out early.
Chinese born and Kazakh hopeful Kanat “QazaQ” Islam won the WBO NABO and the WBA Intercontinental junior middleweight titles in Boca Raton Florida with a unanimous decision win over Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez of Nuevo Leon Monterrey Mexico. Styles make fights and styles made a slow start to this fight as both fighters excellent defense created a snail’s pace for the first three rounds. Islam 24-0(19KO) of Almaty, Kazakhstan compatriot, and friend Gennady Golovkin started finding his mark beyond the fourth round and his high punch output was paying nice dividends while outpunching Gonzalez 23-9(13KO). With excellent defensive awareness, Islam works sharp inside slipping and countering, however, the closeness also caused several headbutts throughout the bout to which Gonzalez often complained to the referee. By virtue of the headbutts, a couple of nasty cuts opened over Demonios’ eyes early and he fought on through the last several rounds with a blood mask and the heart of a lion. Finally, in the 12th round, a point was deducted from Islam for headbutts, albeit unintentional. QazaQ of Kazakhstan who won a bronze medal at welterweight at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was not able to put Gonzalez away with a KO but decisively outboxed and beat the brakes off his foe from pillar to post. The final cards read (115-112) (116-111) (120-109). There was mention after the fight that James Kirkland, who was in attendance, could be Islams’s potential next opponent.
In the co-main event, fellow Kazakh and welterweight Zhankhozh Turarov 21-0(15KO) worked his way to an impressive knockout victory while he hunted Mexican Gustavo Garibay 13-9-2(8KO) down with an aggressive and methodical attack. Turarov the rising welterweight from Kazakhstan and now fighting out of Pahokee FL entertained the pro-Kaz fans with a beautiful display of slick and strong boxing at a steady workman’s pace, a bit reminiscent of his countryman GGG. By the third round, the Mexican was visibly starting to break down where each next punch by the Kaz looked to cause more and more pain until, BOOM an overhand right that dropped Garibay like a thousand pound deadweight. Somehow, Garibay, I assume all heart, arose to take another bomb of an overhand right that put him down again. Remarkably Garibay made it to his feet yet again and started stumbling towards his corner just as the fight was called to a halt at 2:59 of round 3 and a great stoppage in this scribe’s opinion.
Opening the night of boxing was an interesting bout where someone’s 0 had to go, and that is exactly what happened after an awkward but entertaining tussle. Bruce “The Iron Lion” Lutchmedial improved 1-3 as he gave tough Christopher Salerno an ugly schoolyard beating and a new record of 0-2. From the opening bell, the Iron Lion hunted Salerno with a barrage of off angle punches, slaps and otherwise. Salerno went down twice in round two, the final time Sam Burgos stopped the bout at 1:58.
Jonathon “Popeye” Perez 37-18-1(29KO) of Barranquilla, Colombia played the part of the bull, Raul “El Cyclone de Miami” Chirino 11-6(6KO) played the matador, tonight the bull won. Popeye started and ended throwing heavy punches. Chirino had a plan to box behind his jab and move, however, the Colombian found early and often success cutting the ring off and scoring with counter punches and ultimately breaking down El Cyclone’ with body shots, uppercuts and strong hooks to the head. After taking a beating and a nasty cut opened over the left eye of Chirino in round 5 the Miami-based pugilist lost his mouthpiece for the fourth time and Frank Santore Jr waved the fight at 1:00 of round 5, officially scored a TKO win for the Barranquilla product, Popeye Perez.
Dagoberto Aguero sharpened his record to 12-0(9KO) with a quick knockout win over Mexican Gustavo Molina 24-15(9KO). The former Olympian Aguero from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic twice floored the Mexican with big right hands prompting referee Sam Burgos to call a halt to the bout at 1:38 of round 1.
Former Chinese Olympic Silver Medalist Zhilei Zhang 16-0(12KO) is huge, and he can box! Standing 6’6” tall the towering Chinese Olympian southpaw set his punches up nicely while Curtis Harper 12-5 did all he could to try and get inside the giant heavyweight. Zhilei dropped Harper with a great right hook putting an early end to the contest at 2:34 of round number one.
In an action packed crowd-pleasing heavyweight brawl between former standout college linebacker Mike Balogun and action figure chiseled Terrance Marbra the crowd was entertained with non-stop action for 6 rounds. Both fighters went down in the first round as the strong southpaw and former linebacker at Oklahoma Balogun landed a heavy straight left hand and put the Marbra down early but the Hulk of a man climbed off of the canvas to return the favor; just moments later with a right hand of his own that stunned the crowd. The back and forth affair continued and in the fourth round, Marbra again put the former footballer down. The strong Balogun rose from the canvas with a purpose and charged strong through the next two rounds putting Marbra 8-5(6KO) down and nearly out in the sixth round. The final bell found a standing room only of appreciative boxing fans. Balogun, who also appeared in two games in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills in 2010 remains undefeated with a unanimous decision victory. The scorecards read 58-53 twice and 58-54.
As always, a huge Cuban crowd came out tonight to support their beloved Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara at Hialeah Park Racing and Casino in Miami. With constant chants of Cuba and a heavy dose of Pitbull background music, the party got started early. In the main event the packed house was treated with the super welterweight world champion Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs) dismantling former world champion Yuri Foreman (34-3, 10 KOs) to retain his WBA strap for the fifth time live on Spike TV. The consensus best fighter at 154-pounds, Lara did his thing in controlling distance and pace early while easily out boxing the former world champion Yuri Foreman. Foreman, an ordained rabbi was never in the fight and had a hard time catching one of boxing’s slickest boxers. In round three after Lara landed a couple shots and an entanglement of feet, a knockdown was incorrectly scored for Lara. It was a mood point as in round four Lara put a left uppercut deep into Foremans midsection that dispensed the Brooklyn-based native of Brelarus Foreman on the canvas with no hopes of beating the count.
The live televised coverage kicked off with former super middleweight world champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KOs) battling Hungary’s Norbert Nemesapati (24-5, 17 KOs) in a 10-round bout. Dirrell set an early pace moving Nemesapati back with strong right hands and body shots. The Hungarian was able to create a couple occasional early exchanges, but Derrell’s power was too much as he was visibly breaking Nemesapati. By the third round it was a seek and destroy mission as Dirrell hunted his prey and landed a variety of uppercuts, body shots, right hands, hooks, and I may have seen him throw the kitchen sink at one point. Dirrell virtually beat Nemesapati into a submission as he felt no need to come out for round seven for more of what was a constant in the fight, and that was a clear show of a difference of skill level.
Dirrell has seen more adversity than most throughout his career as his time in boxing has been seriously jeopardized twice, first in December 2006 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and was sidelined for 20 months and again in May 2012 when he broke his lower left leg and left wrist in a motorcycle accident. The Flint, Michigan-native never let that hold him down as he kept winning fights and working his way up the professional ranks. In 2014 he won his first championship when he defeated defending champion Sakio Bika. His road back to a 168-pound title has seen him dominate former title challengers Marco Antonio Rubio last September and Caleb Truax in April.
Juan Carlos Payano 18-1 (9KO) put on a display of “all things boxing” on his way to a TKO win over Isao Carranza 15-8-1(5KO) with the end coming at 1:16 of the 7th round. Payano was coming off of the first loss of his career and a super close majority decision loss at the hands of Rau’shee Warren in June of 2016.
Early results from Hialeah Park: Premier Boxings Lara vs Foreman Undercard results
Dennis ‘The Surgeon” Galarza improved to 14-2(8KO) with a TKO victory over Edgardo Rivera 7-5-2-(5KO) to open Warriors Boxing’s Lara v Foreman from Hialeah Park in. From the opening jab Galarza, from Orlando surgically dissected Rivera with shots from every angle and finally into submission when Sam Burgos finally stepped in and stopped the action in the third round.
Light heavyweight Robert Daniels Jr 2-0(2KO) made easy work out of easy work Antonio Alicea 0-2. Daniels wins by KO in just 25 seconds in the first round knocking out a very timid and out of shape Alicea.
Someone’s O had to go when Miguel Cruz 14-0 (11KO) faced off with Alex Martin 13-1(5KO) in a battle of unbeaten’s. Martin established an early lead with precise straight left hands, slick distance, smart defense, and counter-punching. Cruz pressured to offset the slick counter puncher making for an entertaining tactical fight. The split decision victory was for Miguel Cruz.

In the main event former NABF champion and WBO world titlist Dyah Ali Davis improved to 25-4-1(11KO) with a hard fought unanimous decision win over the strong Brazilian Victor Darocha 7-2-1. Davis dropped Darocha in the second round with a perfectly placed right hand. Darocha who now trains out of Danny Hawks gym in Miami, rose to fight back with purpose. Davis found himself chasing that knockdown with power punches which appeared to have changed the course of his early plan of attack, of staying behind the jab and setting up power shots. To the end Davis was the superior class boxer and earned a unanimous decision win which was his third win since challenging World Champion James DeGale for his WBC Silver Title in 2013. That loss was by far his greatest as Davis lost his Olympic Gold Medalist father Howard Davis Jr in December of 2015 to lung cancer. Davis Jr was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in February of 2015. This and every fight is dedicated to his father and as we spoke after the fight, Davis has plans to jump right back into the ring as early as next month. For 2017 Davis looks to stay very busy and take 2 or 3 more fights before challenging for the top of the division.
In the Co-Main event 19-year-old super featherweight Chasity “The Queen of Pompano Beach” Martin 4-0(1KO) and Ivana Coleman engaged in the fight of the night as the two females boxed and brawled their way to a four round boxing fan fun fest. The Hard Rock Live in Hollywood Florida played home to a great night of championship boxing. A live crowd that had many famous boxing faces including Floyd Mayweather, and Shannon Briggs who often had the attention of the crowd with his chant know well in the boxing world. Lets Go Champ.
In the Main Event live on Spike TV Rances Barthélemy retained his lightweight strap by outworking and at times outsmarting former Champion Mickey Bey It was a close fight during the first couple round as former lightweight champion Mickey Bey used footwork and angles to keep the Cuban on the hunt early. A clash of heads in round two visibly hurt the champion and was incorrectly counted as a knockdown by referee Sam Buroes. Chants of Cuba Cuba Cuba helped motivate the champion around mid fight and during the course of the fight as Barthelemy outworked the former champion and used footwork and timing to make Bey miss often. This proved to be a deciding factor in his unanimous decision victory. The Scorecards read 117-110 116-11 for Barthelemy and one judge had it 117-110 for Bey, too bad he missed a good fight.
Rising prospect soon to be contender bantamweight Emmanuel Rodriguez had his hands full with hard-charging Mexican Alberto Guevara. Amateur standout and rising prospect Caleb Plant 13-0(10KO) from Tennessee had a live fighter in Colombian Carlos Galvin 12-5-1(11KO) in front of him and displayed very nice workmanship by putting his whole game together. His jab was fast and often, his feet were moving him perfectly and at the right times. His defense was on point. Caleb Plant looked fantastic tonight and ended the night with a very hard uppercut to the solar plex that dropped Galvin and sent him home.
Dyah “Ali” Davis picked Leosvy Mayedo apart through their six round tusk. Davis kept it clean, Mayedo did not. Mayedo often throw low blows and was using his head inside so much he was eventually disqualified from the match. The former NABF champion Davis, improves to 24-4-1(11KO) and is still fighting with a heavy heart after the passing of his father Gold Medalist Howard Davis Jr in December.

Lara
‘CUBA’ ‘CUBA’ ‘CUBA’ ‘CUBA’ with a heavy spanish accent was the chant coming from a soggy and packed Hialeah Park Race Track in Hialeah, Florida tonight as Miami’s favorite son Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara destroyed former champion Jan Zevek with a third round stoppage. From the opening bell Lara showed he was the champion in his fair test opposite a faded and worn former champion.
Live on ESPN, Premier Boxing Championships provided a night of boxing in Hialeah Florida where Lara successfully defended his WBA super welterweight title for the fourth time and retained his IBO strap. Lara did it by winning every second of the fight and knocking the Solovian off balance with straight hard left hand shots setting up that inevitable “wait for it” moment. In the final seconds of round 2 Lara landed a straight left that wobbled Zavek who was happy to hear the bell 6 seconds later. The odd end came at :41 of round three as Lara set up another straight left off of a throw away hook that snapped Zavek’s head back so far he could have counted stars if it wasn’t raining. Lara actually took a step back after the shot at which time Zavek oddly turned away with a no mas limp stiff arm towards the Champion. Zavek complained early of a shoulder injury however the shoulder appeared to be fine, its this sports writer’s opinion he just said “Ni? Ve?” The Cuban Champion improved to (22-2-2, 13 KO) and is willing to face anyone from 154-160 as quoted in a post fight interview. “Canelo doesn’t want to see me because he knows I beat him in the first fight,” Lara said. “And GGG [Golovkin] can come get it if he wants as well. I’m ready to fight anybody at 154 to 160 pounds. Bring on the best.”
Emmanuel Rodriguez 14-0(10KO) retained his WBA Fedelatin bantamweight title and WBC Latino bantamweight title with a seventh round TKO over Dominican boxer Elicer Aquino 17-2-1(11KO). Rodriguez knocked Aquino down in round three and around the ring for the rest of the fight while knocking his mouthpiece out several times throughout the fight. Sam Burgos took a point from the Dominican and Rodriguez went ahead and finished it himself by speeding his punches up with combinations to a nice end at 2:44 of round seven where Burgos stepped in to save the Dominican from further punishment.
Undefeated Heavyweight John Wesley Nofire improved to 19-0(15KO) with a stoppage over once promising Cuban Yasmany Consuegra who lost his third in a row to drop to 17-3(14KO). Nofire came out with a fast jab early to start the fight and try to establish pace and distance. The Cuban consistently fell in while punching the 6’6” Oklahoma native which caused a lot tangles early on. Nofire got a better sense of his distance in round three and started coming underneath while the Cuban fell in which gave him enough room to punch and this is where he hurt Consuegra. A great flurry late in round three had Consuegra caught in his own corner taking a beating by the big powerful Oklahoman nearly prompting a stoppage only to be saved by the bell. However the Cuban corner felt that was enough and waved the fight off between rounds giving the big man from Oklahoma a TKO win officially at 2:59 of round four.
Super Welterweight Daquan Arnett 15-1(9KO) looked powerful with a strong performance in a first round knockout win over once heralded Cuban prospect and amateur star Yudel Johnson 17-3(9KO). The end came at 2:47 of the very first round.
Super Lightweight Jose Quezada easily improved to 9-0(6KO) with a 2nd round KO win over Daniel Lorenzana 4-7-1(2KO).
In an entertaining bout between two South Florida welterweights Jeff Souffrant from Davie FL and Gregory Moore from Miami, FL battled to the final bell which Souffrant earned a unanimous decision win to sharpen his record to 2-1, where Moore fell to 1-1.
