Melvin Guillard scored a first round stoppage over Evan Dunham in a scheduled three round lightweight bout that highlighted UFC Fight for the Troops in Fort Hood, Texas.

Guillard landed some quick punches that hurt Dunham and Guillard followed up with several vicious kicks and punches that led to the stoppage at 2:58 of round one.

Guillard, 155 lbs of Albuquerque, NM is now 45-9-3-1. Dunham, 156 lbs of Las Vegas, NV is now 11-2.

Matt Mitrione remained undefeated by scoring a first round stoppage at 2:59 over Tim Hague in a scheduled three round Heavyweight bout.

Mitrione dropped Hague with a straight left and landed a barrage of punches while Hague covered up on the canvas and the fight was stopped.

Mark Hominick scored a devastating first round knockout at 1:28 over George Roop in a scheduled three round Featherweight fight.

Hominick landed a blistering left hook that sent Roop to the canvas and followed up with a crushing left to the face while a defenseless Roop sat on the canvas and the fight was stopped.

Himinick, 145 1/2 lbs of Ontario, Canada now will earn a title shot at UFC Featherweight champ Jose Aldo and is now 20-8. Roop, 145 1/2 lbs of Tucson, AZ is now 11-8-1.

Pat Barry scored a three round unanimous decision over Joey Beltran in a exciting Heavyweight bout.

In one of the most dubious refereeing jobs in recent memory, former world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley was allowed to be dropped NINE times in dropping about to Lucas Matthysse via eighth round stoppage in Mendoza, Argentina.

Matthyse softened Corley up over the first four round before dropping Cor twice in round five, once in round six, three times in round seven and two times in round eight. Most of the shots were hooks to the body and ironically the last knockdown looked like Matthysse clearly missed Corley but Corley slipped and the referee waved the bout off.

Matthysse, 139 1/2 lbs was fighting for the first time since his first professional loss which came last November to Zab Judah is now 28-1 with twenty-six knockouts. Corley, 138 3/4 lbs of Washington, DC is now 37-16-1

Claudio Tapia scored a fourth round stoppage over previously undefeated Pablo Barboza in a scheduled six round Super Featherweight bout.

Barboza was docked two points in round three for low blows. That seemed to incite Tapia as he came out with reckless abandon as he dropped Barboza twice with the first coming from a wild left hook. He finished Barboza off with a head shot and the referee counted Barboza out.

Evans of Philadelphia has a record of 9-0-1 with two knockouts and is coming off a seven month layoff when he scored a six round unanimous decision over Barbaro Zepeda.

Evans, who works in a Philadelphia law office isn’t worried about the layoff.

“I am just excited to get back in the ring. I have sat since June and I just want to shake off the ring rust”, said the twenty-six year old Evans.

“I really don’t know anything about Almanza except that he fought Teon Kennedy and I don’t even remember anything about that fight.”

Evans along with his promoter Greg Robinson believes that 2011 will be a year that Evans will begin to receive accolades from more than just outside his home city.

In the main event, 1996 U.S. Olympian Terrance “The Heat” Cauthen (35-7, 9 KO’s) battles once-beaten Phillip “Mongoose” McCants (8-1-1, 3 KO’s) in a Welterweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Despite having a decided experience advantage, Cauthen is not taking McCants lightly.

“McCants Is a real good fighter and a good prospect. He only has about ten fights but he has been around a while”, said Cauthen.

He already has several signature wins which include decisions over Alexander Mancea (8-2) and Markus Gonzalez (7-2). In his last bout, Rosinksy scored a eight round unanimous decision over fellow unbeaten Yasin Rashid (7-0) on November 20th in Brooklyn.

Erislandy Lara made short work of Delray Raines by stopping him in round one of their scheduled ten round Middleweight bout at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California

Lara was winning the opening frame with precision shots and then caught Raines with a right hook/straight left combination that dropped Raines for the ten count at 2:59 of round one.

Lara, 152 1/4 lbs of Miami, FL is now 15-0 with ten knockouts. Raines, 155 1/2 lbs of Paris, AR is now 19-9-1

Super Prospect Frankie Gomez remained undefeated as he scored a six round unanimous decision over Luis Lugo in a Welterweight bout.

Peter Manfredo scored ten round unanimous decision over Daniel Edouard in a battle of veterean middleweights at Mallory Square in Key West, Florida.

Edouard had a solid beginning to the fight as over the first three rounds he mixed up his attack landing with both hands. In round four, as the two broke, Manfredo landed a booming right that viciously dropped Edouard tp the canvas. Manfredo Jr. dominated the rest of the round that was continued on in round five as he kept Edouard against the ropes for the bulk of the round that was highlighted by separate lefts to the body.

Round seven started off fast with Manfredo dominating on the ropes. Edouard began to blled from his mouth. Manfredo ended the round with two good rights and a chopping left.

Over the last few rounds, Edouard was game as he fought through the cut and rapid swelling over his right eye but Manfredo had much more in the tank to cruise home with the victory.

Scores were 97-92; 98-91 and 98-91 for Manfredo Jr., 162 1/4 lbs of Providence, RI and is now 37-6. Edouard, 162 1/4 lbs of West Palm Beach, FL is now 23-4-2.

Edwin Rodriguez remained undefeated with a ten round unanimous decision over Aaron Pryor Jr. in a Super Middleweight bout.

Rodriguez took a few rounds to get a rhythm against the tall and lanky Pryor Jr. Pryor Jr. was a bit more active but Rodriguez landed the harder punches in what were very close rounds. Pryor Jr. was deducted a point in round seven for holding. Rodriguez saved his best round for the last round as he landed some good right hands.

Rodriguez, 168 1/2 lbs of Worcester, MA won by scores of 98-91; 97-92 and 96-93 to go to 18-0. Pryor Jr., 165 1/2 lbs of Cincinnati, OH is now 15-3.

It was revealed after the bout that Rodriguez fought the last six rounds with an injured shoulder and was taken to the hospital.

CHESTER, PA (January 12, 2011)—One of the most famous movie scenes in the past quarter century took place in the movie Coming to America when Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall played many different characters in a barbershop and began arguing who the greatest heavyweight amongst Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.

One man who can attest that scenarios like that are common place all over the country is Lightweight Victor Vasquez, who on January 22nd will take on Osnel Charles in the main event of the first event boxing event at Harrah’s in Chester, PA

The show is promoted by Joey Eye Boxing.

Vasquez is a licensed barber who has been cutting hair for the better part of a decade.

Vasquez of Northeast Philadelphia cuts hair at “Consider It Done” that is located at 2546 North Front Street in Philadelphia.

Tyron Woodley scored a three round unanimous decision over Tarec Saffiedine in the main event of Strikeforce Challengers in a Welterweight bout in Nashville, Tennessee.

Scores were 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 for Woodley, 170 lbs of Coconut Creek, FL ans is now 8-0. Saffiedine, 170 lbs of Temecula, CA is now 10-3.

“I did well,” said Woodley. “He’s got some power and some pop. I think I kept the pressure on him and got some strikes in there. For me, it was about getting out of his range and getting in there when I could. I think I did a good job tonight.”

Ovince St Preux scored a three round unanimous decision over Abongo Humphrey in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Scores were 30-27 on all cards for St. Preux, 205 lbs of Knoxville, TN and won his third bout in seven weeks to raise his record to 10-4. Humphrey, 205 1/2 lbs of Atlanta, GA is now 7-3.

“I knew I had to win the third round to get this fight. He’s definitely a tough opponent,” said Saint Preux, a winner of seven straight bouts.

Daniel Cormier remained undefeated with a three round unanimous decision over Devin Cole in a Heavyweight bout.

Cormier, 249 lbs of San Jose, CA won by scores of 30-27 on all cards to go to 7-0. Cole, 239 lbs of Oregon is now 18-9-1.

“He did an incredible job. He can take a shot. I landed some pretty decent shots on him,” said Cormier after the bout. “I want to continue to improve and make my way up the ladder.”

Amanda Nunes needed just fourteen seconds to destroy Julia Budd in a their ladies Welterweight bout.

Nunes, 143 lbs of Brazil is 6-1 with all wins coming by knockout. Budd, 144 lbs of British Colombia is now 1-1.

Dr. Rhadi Furguson scored a second round tap out over John Richard with a heal hook at 2:00 in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Furguson, 205 lbs of Florida is 3-0. Richard, 206 lbs of South Carolina is 3-2.

“I get a D minus,” he said. “I started my camp with a pulled groin and a pulled hamstring and John Richard was a tough opponent. I’m a neo fighter in this sport – I’m young and humble.”

Mauricio Herrera scored an unlikely twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated and world ranked Ruslan Provodnikov in a Jr. Welterweight bout at The Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was a good fight as Provodnikov landed the harder shots and the by-product of his work showed early as Herrera was cut under his right eye in round two and and nasty swelling started to form in round three. Herrera had some good moments as he landed combinations as he jumped in and out in an effort to stay away from the heavy hands of Provodnikov.

With each round, Herrera’s left eye was the focus of the ringside doctor as Herrera was checked multiple times throughout the contest. Provodnikov was effective with over hand right’s which caused blood to start leaking from the nose of of Herrera. Everytime Provodnikov seemed to be in control, Herrera showed guts by firing back and landing some solid combinations. Herrera’s will kept him in the fight and he had a solid last round where he landed his biggest punch of the fight.

Compubox favored Providnikov 326-886 to Herrera’s 300-898

Herrera, 140 lbs of Riverside, CA won by scores of 116-112; 116-112 and 115-113 to raise his record of 16-1. Provodnikov, 140 lbs of Russia is now 17-1.

Former U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade scored an eight round unanimous decision over tough Albert Herrera in a Jr. Middleweight bout.

Andrade came out blazing in the first round as he put together some hard combination’s that were set up by solid uppercuts and body shots wit the left heand.

Andrade featured the uppercut over the course of the next seven round and mixed in combinations as he had a decided speed advantage. Although outgunned, Herrera showed plenty of courage as he continued to come forward and get in some shots of his own.

PHILADELPHIA (January 7, 2011)—On Friday night January 28th, 2011 the first boxing event of the New Year will take as Greg Robinson’s Power Productions in association with River Edge Beverage Cpmpany presents an action packed card that will be headlined by undefeated Featherweight, “Pretty Boy” Coy Evans taking on grizzled veteran Felipe Almanza in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Evans of Philadelphia has a record of 9-0-1 with two knockouts and will be looking to sustain the momentum of a busy 2010 where he recorded four wins which included his first two professional knockouts.

Evans who turned pro in 2004 has stepped up the competition as evidenced by his strong 2009 when he stopped nineteen fight veteran Vinesh Rungea; a decision over thirty-nine; a third round stoppage over twenty-three fight vet Morris Chule and is last fight a six round unanimous decision over thirty-two fight opponent Babrabro Zepeda on June 4th at Philadelphia’s Legendary Blue Horizon.

The co-feature will be an eight round Philadelphia turf war between Super Middleweights Tommie “Big Poppa” Speller and Jameel “Black Gold” Wilson.

Speller has a record of 5-5 with three knockouts and will be looking to get back in the win column after dropping his last two bouts.

Speller won his first four bouts before dropping three in a row. Speller than decisioned Dave Cook before the previously mentioned setbacks to Dion Savage (7-0) on the Floyd Mayweather – Shane Mosley undercard in Las Vegas and in his last bout he dropped a unanimous decision to Dennis Hasson (10-0).

CHESTER, PA (JANUARY 3, 2011)—On Saturday night, January 22nd, Joey Eye Boxing will stage the first ever boxing event at the Beautiful Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack.

In the main event, popular Lightweight, Victor “The Barber” Vasquez will fight an opponent to be named in a bout scheduled for six rounds.

Vasquez of Philadelphia has built up one of the biggest fan bases in Philadelphia due to his exciting style which always has him in the fight of the night whenever he steps into the ring.

Vasquez has a record of 12-4-1 with six knockouts and has been in some memorable fights in his young career.

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY (January 3, 2011)—On Saturday night January 22nd, 2011 boxing returns to the beautiful Hamilton Manor in Hamilton, New Jersey as Nedal Abuhumoud and Nedal Boxing presents a great night of boxing featuring some top prospects and entertaining fights.

In the main event, Former U.S. Olympian Terrance “The Heat” Cauthen will take on Phillip McCants in a Welterweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Cauthen of nearby Trenton, New Jersey has record of 35-7 with nine knockouts.

Cauthen represented the United Sates in the 1996 Olympics which were held in Atlanta.

He turned pro in December of that year and went on to win the first fifteen bouts of his career. Cauthen suffered his first professional defeat when he stopped by Teddy Reid in an effort to win the NABA Super Lightweight title.

After that loss, Cauthen went on a nice run of eleven straight wins and picked up two titles in the process.

He won the Interim NABF Jr. Welterweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Franco Ogentho (15-2). Cauthen defended the three times with decision wins over Roberto Ortega (18-7-1); Ricky Quiles (33-5-3) and Jermaine Marks (9-1-2). In the fight against Quiles he captured the NABA Super Lightweight title.

Cauthen lost two in a row which included going the distance with former world champion Paul Williams (25-0) before winning the IBU Jr. Middleweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Nurhan Suleyman (16-3). He followed that up by winning the USBA Jr. Middleweight title with a tenth round stoppage over former Olympian Dane Craig.

That fight set up a shot with Sechew Powell in an IBF Elimination bout.

Unfortunately for Cauthem he was stopped in four rounds in what turned up to be as shootout as both guys landed bombs in the fight.

Cauthen has gone 3-3 in his last fights with impressive wins over Alexis Camacho (16-0); Isam Khalil (15-1-2) and Cleotis Pandarvis (10-2-2). In his last bout, Cauthen dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to John O’Donnell (23-1) this past September 10th in England in a bout that was televised on SHO BOX.

McCants has a record of 8-1-1 with three knockouts and has won five straight fights that spans six years.

McCants is coming off a four round unanimous decision over Tyson Schwieger on September 11, 2009 in Philadelphia.

In a six round co-feature, Charles Hayward of Philadelphia will battle Billy Salser of Mansfield, Ohio in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Hayward, 5-2 with one knockout, has won four in a row which includes decision wins over undefeated Patrick Budd (2-0) and in his last bout; Hayward moved up to six rounds by scoring a unanimous decision over Mazur Ali (6-6) on July 2nd in Vineland, New Jersey.

Salser, 3-1 with two knockouts, won his first three bouts which included a third round knockout iver undefeated Adam Harrison (1-0). Salser then took two and a half years off and came back to drop a four round unanimous decision to Joe Njau last March 26th at the Hamilton Manor.

It was announced at the press conference that Edgar will next defend his title against the exciting Anthony Pettis

Frankie Edgar retained the UFC Lightweight championship as he survived a first round drubbing to come back in his fight with Gray Maynard to headline UFC 125 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Midway through the first round, Maynard landed a vicious left hook that dropped Edgar to the canvas and Maynard immediately pounced on the champion. For the next two-plus minutes, Maynard savagely drilled a visibly hurt and bloody Edgar all over the octagon. Edgar was bleeding from the nose and on several occasions it seemed that he was just one shot away from being stopped. Edgar began to show some signs of life towards the end of the first frame. Edgar gathered himself and began winning most of the nest three rounds and he started landing hard shots of his own and solid kicks as he began to figure out Maynard. Edgar had a big round four as he momentarily locked in a guillotine choke. Round five was good back and forth action as both men gave all they had left to the delight of the crowd.

When the scores were read, each man took a card at 48-46 while a third card was tallied at 47-47.

Edgar, 155 lbs of Summit, NJ retains his belt for the second time. Maynard, 155 lbs of Phoenix, AZ was attempting to beat Edgar for the second time and is now 11-0-1-1.

In The co-feature, Brian Stann pounded out Chris Leben at 3:37 of round one of their bout.

Stann of Scranton, PA is 10-3. Leben is 21-7.

Thiago Silva scored a three round unanimous decision over Brandon Vera in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Scores were 30-36; 30-27 and 30-27 for Silva, of San Paulo, Brazil and is now 15-2. Vera, 205 lbs of Norfolk, VA is now 11-6.

Dong Hyun Kim scored a three round unanimous decision over Nate Diaz in a Welterweight bout.

Clay Guida scored a second round tapout over Takanori Gomi in a scheduled three round Lightweight bout.

Guida choked Gomi out with a guillotine at 4:27 of round two.

Brad Tavares pounded out veteran Phil Baroni in round one of their scheduled three round Middleweight bout.

Tavares landed a high leg kick to the head that startled Baroni which led to an assault of punches that forced referee Josh Rosenthal to stop the bout at 4:20 of round one.

Jeremy Stephens scored an explosive one punch knockout over Marcus Davis in the final scheduled round of their three round Lightweight bout.

Stephens landed a crushing right that knocked Davis down aand out.

VERONA, NY (December 31, 2010)—Former WBC Caribbean champion, Manuel Quezada will attempt to win back that crown when he takes on Mike Mollo in the twelve round main event on Saturday night, January 29th at the beautiful Turning Stone Resort and Casino.

Quezada was summoned for the fight after the man who defeated him; Jason Gavern had to pull out due to an injury.

Quezada of Wasco, California has a record of 29-6 with eighteen knockouts.

Quezada went 11-4 in his first fifteen bouts before embarking on a eighteen fight win streak with some impressive wins over the likes of Eric Boose (7-0-1); Gary Gomez (18-7-1);

He won the WBC Heavyweight title with a second round knockout over Rick Dyer (13-1) and the continued with signature wins over Teke Orih (14-1-1); a stunning first round knockout over Travis Walker (31-2-1) and a unanimous decision over Nicolai Firtha (16-6-1).

In his last bout, Quezada put up a gallant effort before dropping a twelve round unanimous decision to former world title challenger Chris Arreola (28-2) on August 13th.

Mollo is one of the toughest customers in the Heavyweight division as the Chicago native has a record of 20-3-1 with twelve knockouts.

Mollo began his career with fifteen straight wins which included victories over a pair of undefeated foes and also won the WBO Latin Heavyweight title with a sixth round knockout over Rogerio Lobo (36-13).

Mollo then stopped up the competition and was stopped in four rounds by former world title challenger DaVarryl Williamson (22-4).

Mollo went on to win four straight that included a win over the man who retired Mike Tyson, Kevin McBride (34-4-1)

Mollo was all over McBride as he scored a knockdown in round one and dropped him two more times in round two before the fight was stopped.

Mollo also defeated Art Binkowski (16-1) in two rounds in a battle of two Chicago based heavyweights that took place just outside the City limits and was a much anticipated turf war.

Mollo then took on multiple time world title challenger Andre Golota (40-6-1) as part of the Roy Jones – Felix Trinidad undercard at Madison Square Garden.

The battle was a tremendous action fight where Mollo fought very hard and was praied for his toughness as he took many big shots before dropping a unanimous decision.

Unfortunately, Mollo was stopped in two rounds by multiple time world title challenger Jameel McCline (38-9-3) in China.

Hall of Fame promoter Russell Peltz sent word out on Tuesday evening that one of the great middleweights, Bennie Briscoe passed away after an illness

Peltz statement read “Bennie Briscoe, one of the best never to win a world title (when world titles meant something) and the man who presided over the last Golden Age of Boxing in Philadelphia (the 1970s) passed away today at 5.52pm EST. He had been in Temple University hospital for about a week before being moved to hospice. His wife Karen, who I have been in contact with over the last two weeks, called my at about 6.20pm EST to give me the news.”

Brisoce had a record of 66-24-5 with fifty-three knockouts fought all of the top Middleweights of his era as he held the great Carlos Monzon to a draw in Monzon’s home country in Argentina.

He was stopped in seven in an effort to win the WBC Middleweight title in the rematch with Monzon and then lost two more chances to win the title against Rodrigo Valdez. he also dropped a decision to the legendary Emile Griffith and then held Griffith to a draw in the rematch.

He also lost a decision to Marvin Hagler.

Silgado of Buenos Aires, Argentina has compiled a record of 18-0 with sixteen knockouts and the twenty-five year old has captured regional belts throughout South America.

Silgado turned pro with twelve straight knockouts before winning the WBA Fedecaribe and Colombian Cruiserweight titles with a third round stoppage over Jose Chiquillo.

He defended the WBA belt once before capturing the WBA Fedebol title with a unanimous decision victory over Sergio Martin Beaz.

In his last bout, Silgado stopped Cesar Dairo Herdia in one round on January 24, 2009.

“This is a big signing for us”, said Robert Diaz, Promoter for Havoc Boxing.

The always exciting Jorge Arce took out Adolfo Ramos inside of one round of their scheduled ten round Super Bantamweight fight in Campide, Mexico

Arce dropped Ramos with a nice counter right midway through the first frame. Arce jumped on Ramos and froze Ramos with a big right on the ropes and the referee stopped the bout after three more unanswered punches at 2:06 of the round one.

Arce, 121 1/2 lbs of Los Mochis, MX is now 56-6-2 with forty-three knockouts. Ramos, 121 1/2 lbs of Monitos, Colombia is now 16-11-1.

Ramon Garcia remained the WBO Mini Flyweight championship with a twelve round unanimous decision over Omar Soto.

Garcia scored a flash knockdown in round four and hard knockdown in round ten and cruised to the unanimous decision by scores of 120-106; 119-107 and 118-108.

Garcia, 107 lbs of La Paz, Mexico is now 16-1-1. Soto, 107 lbs of Guaynabo, PR is now 15-7-1.

Former world title challenger Jorge Lacierva scored three first round knockdowns en route to a ten round unanimous decision over Joksan Hernandez in a Super Featherweight bout.

Lacierva is now 38-7-6. Hernandez is now 22-3.

Call the Mountie Police, because a robbery was committed at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Canada as Bernard Hopkins overcame two knockdowns to comeback and dominate the remainder of the other ten rounds and yet was held to a draw in an effort to wrestle the WBC Light Heavyweight title and a win would have sent Hopkins into the history books at the oldest man ever to win a major boxing championship.

Things did not start out well for Hopkins as at the end of round one he caught a counter left behind the head that sent him to the canvas for the first time in sixteen years. The shot was a debatable shot as it could have been ruled a Rabbit Punch. Hopkins steadied himself to begin his effective countering but that was interrupted in round three as Pascal caught Hopkins coming off the ropes with a left hand that dropped the legend for the second time in the first three frames. Hopkins showed his old tricks at the end of the round as he fired and landed three shots after the bell and the tone was now set for the rest of the fight as Pascal was much less aggressive and paid for it.

Over the next eight rounds the forty-five year old Hopkins put on a boxing clinic that even the best professors would not have a syllabus that would equal to what Hopkins was teach Pascal as he ripped hard body shots and straight right hands that had the eighteen years younger “champ” on his heels and having no answers to Professor Hopkins questions. Hopkins had trouble missing the baffled Pascal with any shots as he showed impressive handspeed for a man twenty-five let alone forty-five. Hopkins was so in control that after landing a hard right he stuck his tongue to Pascal. In the next round, a big right sent Pascal back towards the ropes and he appeared a bit dazed. Pascal showed little offense with the exception of an occasional uppercut on the inside that was sandwiched between Hopkins pinpoint shots that seemingly should have put rounds in the bank.

The twelfth round saw both guys go for the win as it was a close fight. The most telling shot may have saved Pascal’s belt as he landed a good right that landed on Hopkins head. Both guys fought hard until the bell sounded to the delight of the boisterous pro-Pascal sold out crowd.

The official scores read 114-112 Hopkins, 113-113 and 114-114. 15rounds.com card (off-tv) favored Hopkins 115-111.

Hopkins, 174 1/2 lbs of Philadelphia is now 51-5-2. Pascal, 174 1/2 lbs of Montreal may have received an early Christmas gift and is now 26-1-1.

“I got up and fought like a champion,” said Hopkins after the fight. “Look at his face. Look at mine.”

Clearly annoyed by the outcome, Hopkins said, “[I’ve] got no reaction. The world [has] seen it. I had the guy beat up.” He continued, “You don’t see Pascal jumping around happy. I am not going anywhere. You saw a young man in an old man’s body. I still have the fight in me.”

Proudly donning his Light Heavyweight belt, Pascal stated after the fight, “Of course I thought I won. I stood there. I dropped him twice. We’ve got fair judges in Canada.” Though he did admit, “That wasn’t my best fight.”

When asked about going another 12 rounds with The Executioner, Pascal responded, “If he wants a rematch, any time.” Hopkins later added, “The closest I will ever come to Canada again is Niagara Falls.”

Ronny Rios remained undefeated by defeating veteran trial horse Adolfo Landeros in a eight round Super Featherweight fight via unanimous decision at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California.

Rios, 128 lbs of Santa Ana, CA won by scores of 80-72 on all cards to go to 13-0. Landeros, 128 lbs of Ciudad, Mexico is now 20-17-1.

Christopher Martin remained undefeated by scoring an eight round unanimous decision over Yogli Herrera.

Scores were 80-72; 80-72 and 78-74 for Martin of San Diego and is now 21-0-2. Herrera is now 22-14.

Joseph Agbeko got redemption and in one swoop reclaimed the IBF Bantamweight championship and advanced to the Bantamweight tournament finals with a twelve round unanimous decision in a rematch with the man who took the title from him in Yonnhy Perez at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.

Agbeko boxed beautifully over the first half of the fight as he moved in and out and would land some solid rights and used some solid movement for which Agbeko hasnt been previously known for.

In round six, the two went to war throughout the full three minutes as Perez consistently pinned Agbeko against the ropes and landed some hard shots but Agbeko was always answering the barrages of the taller Perez.

Perez had some solid rounds as he featured some lead left hooks that got him back into the fight. Agbeko then turned back to boxing over the last three rounds as he landed and moved as Perez looked a little tired and had little on his punches.

Agbeko of Accra, Ghana won by scores of 117-111; 116-112; 115-113 and is now 28-2. Perez of Colombia is now 20-1-1.

Referencing the IBF belt now in his hands, Agbeko exclaimed. “This is my meal ticket and I’m glad I got it back. I am presenting it to Ghana as a Christmas bonus.” When asked about the upcoming tournament final with Mares, he said, “I’ve watched Abner Mares. He is a very smart kid. King Kong is always King Kong. I’m going to get the crown from him.”

Respectful in defeat, Perez offered, “Agbeko had an intelligent fight today and he won fair and square. I did not expect this game plan from Agbeko.”

Bloodied, knockdown and a point taken away, and that was in the first three rounds but Abner Mares came on late to win a split decision over Vic Darchinyan.

The tone was set early in round one as the two clashed heads and a bad cut was viable on the high left forehead of Mares. I did not get any better for Mares in round two as he was dropped when a big left from Darchinyan had the affect which made Mares glove touch the canvas for a knockdown. Round three didint get any better for Mares as he deducted a point for repeated low blows. The blood began to worsen in that round as well but it seemed to spur Mares on.

The two continued to trade heavy shots and showed incredible courage in this fight that had action in every round. In round seven, a left hand sent Darchinyan to the canvas for a flash knockdown. Mares seemed to be fighting more in combination whereas Darchinyan was loading up for one big shot. Over the last three frames it was Mares forcing the action on what looked to be a very tired Darchinyan as the both continued to fight to the end.

Mares won by scores of 115-111 and 115-112 while Darchinyan took a card by a 115-111 tally.

Mares is now 21-0-1. Darchinyan is now 35-3-1

“Our plan was to push him back because we know he likes to bully people. He has a tremendous punch. I proved that I could take punches,” said the emerging Mexican star who hails from Guadalajara and lives in Montebello, Calif. “I kept pushing him back. I heard him moan every time I landed a body shot.”

The close fight and split decision loss did not leave Darchinyan pleased. “It’s very disgusting, very bad ref. I think, of course, I won. He didn’t let me do what I wanted to do,” said Darchinyan before conceding about Mares, “He is a tough kid.”
