VARGAS AND WHITTAKER AIM TO SHINE ON HUGE ZAYAS-BOOTS BROOKLYN STAGE

Emiliano Vargas and Ben Whittaker have vowed to dazzle on the very biggest stage, as their fights on the undercard of the blockbuster showdown between Xander Zayas and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis are announced for Saturday June 27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, exclusively live worldwide on DAZN – with Vargas facing Bryce Mills for the WBC USA Silver, WBO Latino and NABF Jr. Super-Lightweight titles and Whittaker meeting Richard Rivera for the WBC Silver Light-Heavyweight title.

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW AT TICKETMASTER.COM
Vargas’s clash with Mills acts as the co-main event on the card, and it’s another spotlight moment for the Californian starlet who has had an incredible year already. The 22 year old began 2026 with a starring role alongside Zayas in Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show in Santa Clara in February, shortly after being named as The Ring’s 2025 prospect of the year ahead of his return to the ring later that month where he forced the retirement of Agustin Quintana after nine rounds of their co-main clash on another huge card, the unification showdown between Emanuel Navarrete and Sugar Nunez in Glendale, Arizona.

Vargas (17-0 14 KOs) will be looking for the 18th victory of his blossoming career in the Big Apple, but Mills (22-1 9 KOs) will have other ideas. The Liverpool, NY man fights for the third time in 2026 and defends the WBC belt that he won in February at Turning Stone in Verona with a fourth round stoppage of Tobias Green, and successfully defended the strap two months later in Rochester by forcing Julio Rosa to retire after three rounds of their clash.

“I have had an incredible start to the year, and I have no intention of slowing down,” said Vargas. “On June 27 at Barclays Center, I will step onto the biggest stage of my career on DAZN PPV, ready to seize this opportunity and make it clear to every champion in the division: “El General” is coming! ¡Vengo por todo!”

Whittaker (11-0-1 8 KOs) makes his American debut on June 27 and does so hot on the heels of a second emphatic first round KO win under the Matchroom banner. The 2020 Olympic silver medal man destroyed Braian Suarez in Liverpool a fortnight ago to rubber-stamp his trip Stateside, five months after making his promotional debut under Eddie Hearn with a late contender for KO of the year in his Birmingham, close to his Wolverhampton hometown.

The flashy Brit could make a big statement with a third KO in a row on his bow across the pond and send a message to the 175lb division – the exact same prize on offer for Rivera if he can hand a first pro defeat to his 28 year old foe. Rivera (27-2 20 KOs) steps back through the ropes for the first time since landing a first round KO win of his own in January 2025 in Connecticut, a second win in a row following a ten round triumph in his home state in April 2024, and ‘Popeye’ will be relishing his biggest stage since being edged out by Badou Jack in Saudi Arabia on the undercard of the World Heavyweight unification rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua in August 2022.

“I am really excited to make my American debut in the Big Apple on such a big card,” said Whittaker. “I’ve got a lot of love for the American fans, and we’ve developed a great relationship over recent years, so I can’t wait to get out there and put on a spectacular performance for them.”

“The British are coming, the British are coming!” said Rivera. “If Ben thinks he is going to my backyard to make a statement, history will repeat itself. I’m not gonna need a can of spinach for this fight. Ben might have the boxing world fooled, but I’m not convinced.”

A third fight announced for the undercard sees Jahi Tucker (16-1-1 7 KOs) take on Euri Cedeno (14-0-1 12 KOs) over ten rounds for the vacant IBF North American, WBC USA and WBO NABO Middleweight titles, with more undercard action to be announced in due course, all ahead of a stunning main event as Zayas puts his unified WBO and WBA World Super-Welterweight titles on the line against former unified Welterweight ruler Ennis.

EARLY RESULTS FROM MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Jesse Bolt scored a scary second round stoppage of Faavesi Isaako in a six-round lightweight bout.

In round two, Bolt landed a vicious left to the chin that Isaako somehow stayed on his feet, but left him open for three more just as crushing shots before falling to the canvas at 35 seconds.

Bolt, 134 lbs of Melbourne, AUS is 4-0 with four knockouts, Isaako, 133.7 lbs is 3-6.

Angel “AK-47” Barrientes Dominates Luis Espinoza with Shutout Victory in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 28, 2026) — Rising super bantamweight, WBA #9 ranked contender Angel “AK-47” Barrientes (15-1, 9 KOs), delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, April 25, 2026, earning a unanimous decision victory over Luis Espinoza (10-2, 4 KOs) at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. The scheduled eight-round bout, co-promoted by Matchroom Boxing and Boxlab Promotions, was broadcast live on DAZN, providing Barrientes with a national platform, one he seized with authority.

From the opening bell, Barrientes showcased sharp timing, superior footwork, and consistent pressure, controlling every aspect of the fight en route to a clean sweep on all three judges’ scorecards, each reading 80-72.

Following his dominant showing on DAZN, Barrientes expressed confidence in both his performance and his growing presence in the sport. “I knew this was a big opportunity for me, fighting live on DAZN, and I wanted to make the most of it,” Barrientes said. “I stayed disciplined, stuck to the game plan, and showed that I can control a fight from start to finish. With momentum building, the 23-year-old Las Vegas native made it clear that his ambitions extend far beyond a single victory. “I’m here to take over the division,” Barrientes said. “There’s a lot of talent at super bantamweight, but I believe in my skills, my work ethic, and my mindset, is what separates me. I’m building toward something bigger, and every fight is a step closer to becoming one of the best in the world.”

Barrientes views this victory as a pivotal moment that further establishes his credibility as a rising contender. “This win means a lot for my career,” Barrientes continued. “I wanted to go out there and dominate every round. I’m improving, I’m learning, and I’m ready to step up. I want tougher opponents, I want the very best, because that’s how I’ll earn my title shot, I’m close.”

With confidence high following his performance, Barrientes is already looking ahead to his next appearance. “I want to get back in the ring as soon as possible,” Barrientes concluded. “I’m staying ready, staying sharp, and I want to keep building momentum. The more I fight, the better I get, and I’m hungry to keep marching toward a world title.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, believes Barrientes has the tools to become a major force in the division. “Angel Barrientes showed why he is one of the most promising young fighters in the division,” Piedra said. “What stands out is not just his talent, but his composure, his discipline, and his ability to execute a game plan at a high level. Performances like this demonstrate that he has the skill set to compete with, and beat, anyone in the super bantamweight division. We’ll be looking to put him in with someone in the top ten, he’s ready.”

Her amateur career culminated with winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, cementing her status as one of the premier international boxers of her generation. Her style blends sharp fundamentals with controlled aggression, allowing her to dictate fights and neutralize opponents’ strengths. The 28-year-old Jones currently holds the IBF world title and resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She was ranked #23 among ESPN’s best women’s boxers of 2025 following her tightly-contested world title defense against Elia Carranza in July 2025. Now, the pair face off in a rematch with Carranza as mandatory challenger.

“As an Olympic medalist and current world champion, I’m beyond excited and truly honored for the opportunity to fight on ESPN and MVP, the biggest and best platform in women’s boxing,” said Oshae Jones. “This isn’t just another fight for me; it’s a moment to help elevate the sport, inspire the next generation, and create opportunities that will change countless lives. MVP’s reigning WBC featherweight world champion Tiara Brown holds a career built on an exceptional amateur pedigree, technical excellence, and championship-level discipline. Long before capturing world honors in the professional ranks, Brown established herself as one of the most accomplished amateurs in the United States. A highly-decorated amateur, Brown was a multiple-time US national champion, competing at the highest levels of USA Boxing and consistently defeating top-tier competition across the country, culminating with a gold medal at the 2012 amateur world championships. That foundation seamlessly translated into the pro ranks, where her experience, composure, and adaptability have set her apart on the world stage. Brown’s style is defined by speed, sharp fundamentals, and intelligent pressure. She is equally comfortable boxing off the back foot or engaging in high-paced exchanges, making her one of the most technically sound and versatile fighters in women’s boxing today. Representing Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s proud boxing tradition, Brown defeated Skye Nicholson in March 2025 to claim the WBC featherweight title before successfully defending the belt against Emma Gongara in September 2025. She is currently ranked Boxrec’s #17 pound-for-pound female fighter and was ranked #16 among ESPN’s best women’s boxers of 2025.

“Saturday, June 13th, I’m going to show the world why I should never be overlooked and taken lightly,” said Tiara Brown. “I am The Dark Menace!”

Hannah Rapp was born and raised in Yorktown, Indiana, where she grew up as a multi-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball, softball, cross country, and track & field. She went on to attend Purdue University, where she ran track as a walk-on for two years before being cut from the roster during the COVID-19 pandemic. Later that year, she entered treatment for an eating disorder. After completing treatment in 2021, Rapp walked into her first boxing gym and immediately fell in love with the sport. Rapp graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Ecological Engineering and went on to build a boxing career, competing in eight amateur bouts before turning professional in April 2024. Early in her career, she relocated to Texas and captured the NABF featherweight title in just her fourth professional fight, working with Coach Carl Perry and manager Ryan Karl. Since first stepping into a boxing gym, Rapp has been driven by the goal of becoming a world champion. She remains focused on reaching her full potential, confident that her natural ability, strong support system, and passion for the sport will carry her to the highest level.

“This is the moment I’ve been dreaming of and preparing for since the first day I walked into a boxing gym almost five years ago,” said Hannah Rapp. “I am thrilled to finally have the opportunity to show the world who Hanarchy is. Tiara Brown is a worthy opponent, and I know she will bring out the best of my abilities.”

Standing 5?4? with a 64? reach, the 33-year-old Artiga continues to build momentum as one of women’s boxing’s hungriest new champions. She made her first successful world title defense with a TKO win on MVP Fight Night in August 2025, and defended her title again against challenger Stephanie Silva in December 2025.

“No talking, no glitz, no glamour,” said Jasmine Artiga. “Just no mercy. This is for my grandma. It’s time to take over.”

Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez is one of the most dominant figures in women’s boxing today. Born in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, she comes from a distinguished boxing lineage as the sister of former four-division world champion Daniela Bermúdez. Evelin currently holds the WBO, IBF, and WBA world titles at 108 pounds. Her rise to prominence was cemented in 2018, when she captured her first world title against Mexico’s Guadalupe Bautista. Since then, she has successfully defended her reign, solidifying her place among the pound-for-pound elite. She has headlined historic fights both in Argentina and abroad, becoming a key figure in the resurgence of women’s boxing in her country. Most recently, she delivered a statement performance, knocking out Canada’s Sara Bailey in just one round on the road, claiming her WBA title and becoming the unified world champion. Bermudez continues to build her legacy, proving that her nickname reflects not only her family heritage, but also the elegance and authority with which she rules her division on the global stage.

“I’m excited to have my next fight scheduled for Saturday, June 13 in Orlando. This will be the first defense of my WBO, IBF, and WBA titles—and, God willing, a key step toward becoming the undisputed champion,” said Evelin Bermudez. “I’m training as hard as I do for every fight, focused on pushing my limits. I’m sharpening my best weapons and adding new ones to keep my opponents guessing in the ring.”

A boxer since the age of 12, inspired by her older brother, Estefany Alegría Osorio always aimed to follow in his footsteps, eventually surpassing his accomplishments. She enjoyed a standout amateur career, becoming a two-time Mexican National Champion at the National Olympics in 2019 and 2020 before turning professional in 2021 with a victory. The Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico native remained undefeated for four years, scoring wins over top-level opponents such as Linda Contreras and Tania García, the latter earning her the WBA Latin minimumweight title. Her unbeaten run came to an unexpected halt in 2024 against Melanie Sarmiento, but she quickly avenged the loss just months later with a clear unanimous decision victory. In 2025, she showcased her elite level by defeating former WBC Silver world champion Ángela Nolasco in a dominant performance. She further solidified her status this past March in an all-out war against Danna Paola Alanís, capturing the WBC Silver world title and propelling herself to the top of the rankings across the major sanctioning bodies worldwide.

“I’m very happy and it’s a dream come true to be fighting for a world title,” said Estafany Alegria. “It’s been years of hard work and finally on Saturday, June 13 I will become world champion. There’s nothing stopping me. I’m in the best time of my career. Bermudez is a great champ but she’s not stopping me.”

Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Jully Poca is a powerhouse athlete who has dominated the crossover boxing scene with an undefeated record. Originally Brazil’s premier female fitness influencer, her life took a sharp turn in 2023 when she was invited to compete in the UK alongside megastar Whindersson Nunes. Despite only training for three months prior to her debut, she discovered a profound passion for the sport and has spent the last three years training exclusively as a full-time boxer. Under the tutelage of renowned coach Antonio Filho, the mentor behind former WBO champion Rose Volante, Poca has solidified her status by going undefeated to date and is now set to make her fully sanctioned professional debut with Most Valuable Promotions. Beyond her technical prowess, Jully possesses a magnetic public profile built on genuine courage. She first captured the Brazilian public’s heart when she intervened in a violent road-rage incident, physically subduing a man who was attacking two women until police arrived. This act of heroism, combined with her athletic transition, has earned her a massive digital footprint. With 3 million Instagram followers, Poca is set to become the most-followed female professional boxer in the world the moment she makes her pro debut, bridging the gap between social media stardom and elite combat sports.

“I can’t wait for my MVP and professional boxing debut! This has been such a wild ride so far and I feel like it’s just starting,” said Jully Poca. “I have been making some huge adjustments to my training camp and I am sure everyone will be shocked to see my new best version in action!”

The next year, Marley earned silver at the 2019 Pan American championships. He earned a place on Brazil’s Olympic team, qualifying to compete in the men’s light heavyweight event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finishing as a quarter-finalist in a narrow 3-2 defeat to Britain’s Benjamin Whittaker, the eventual silver medalist. At the 2021 amateur world championships, Marley fought in the IBA cruiserweight division and earned the silver medal, before becoming the 2022 Brazilian national amateur champion. In 2023, Marley won the prestigious Strandja Tournament, the biggest championship on the European circuit, becoming the first Brazilian man to reach the final and win the title before winning silver at the 2023 Pan American Games. He continued his amateur sprint as he returned to represent Brazil again at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s heavyweight division, once again reaching the quarter finals. Outside boxing, Marley faced two difficult losses in 2021, losing his older brother to murder and his cousin to suicide. He now actively serves as a third sergeant in the Brazilian Army, holds a university degree in physical education, and is currently completing a law degree. He trains out of the Brazilian Olympic Training Center and is co-managed by Brazil’s biggest influencer, multi-talented superstar Whindersson Nunes. He resides in São Paulo, Brazil.

“After my pro debut, I was already waiting for MVP to call and give me the date. Now to have this one set, I’m ready to keep showing the world that I’m ready for the highest level,” said Keno Marley. “Everyone can expect a big performance from me and I will be looking for the KO from the first second of the fight.”

Gabriela “Sosa” Tellez is an undefeated rising prospect in the lightweight division, holding a 7-0 record with 3 knockouts. At just 19 years old, the orthodox fighter has already built a strong foundation with over 90 amateur bouts, showcasing maturity and ring IQ well beyond her years. Born in Vero Beach, Florida, and now fighting out of San Antonio, Texas, Tellez began boxing at the age of six and has quickly developed into one of the sport’s most promising young talents. Standing 5’3” and competing at 135 pounds, she is known for her sharp jab, her favorite punch, and disciplined style. She is currently ranked WBA #3 contender in the world at 130lbs.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to defend my WBA Continental Americas title, especially over 10 rounds, that’s a big step for me, but I’m confident in my ability to shine,” said Gabriela Tellez. “I’ve been working hard in the gym, staying focused, and improving every day. No matter who the opponent is, I’m coming in prepared and ready to give my best performance.”

WBA and WBO #12 ranked contender Jordan Orozco Hernandez will also join the undercard. He boasts a fearsome 100% KO ratio on his 16-0 record, with 16 knockouts. The 21-year-old Nicaraguan bantamweight most recently earned a second round TKO win over Daniel Olea in March.

Xander Zayas Signs Multi-Year Extension with Top Rank

(April 27, 2026) — The Puerto Rican star who began as a teenage prodigy and developed into a unified world champion is continuing his journey with the team that believed in him from the start.

Xander Zayas has signed a multi-year contract extension with Top Rank, keeping boxing’s youngest current two-belt titleholder with the promotional powerhouse as he enters the biggest fight of his career thus far.

The 23-year-old Zayas will defend his WBO/WBA super welterweight world titles against former unified welterweight world champion Jaron Ennis on Saturday, June 27 in Brooklyn, New York LIVE on DAZN PPV.

“We signed Xander at 16 and have watched him grow from a gifted teenager into a unified world champion,” said Top Rank President Todd duBoef. “He won his first world title at 22, unified in his first defense, and is now preparing for the biggest fight of his career thus far. This successful partnership has grown his profile throughout the sports world and reinforces our confidence in Xander’s future.”

“I’m blessed to continue representing Puerto Rico at the highest level of the sport with Top Rank,” said Zayas. “Thank you for all these years and for giving me the opportunity to grow and bring glory to my country and family. Now it’s time to keep collecting victories and championships for many more years with the Top Rank family.”

“Xander’s path is a testament to Top Rank’s ability to develop talent the right way,” said Peter Kahn, Zayas’ manager. “We signed with them when he was just 16, and they’ve done a great job guiding him into a unified world champion. They also understand the Latino audience better than any promoter in boxing. Extending this partnership was the right strategic move as we now focus on more unifications, multiple divisions, global events, and defining Xander as one of the faces of the sport while building a lasting legacy at the highest level.”

Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) made history in March 2019 when he signed with Top Rank at age 16, becoming the youngest fighter ever added to the company’s roster. He steadily developed into one of the sport’s top young contenders, capturing regional titles in 2022 with victories over Elias Espadas and Alexis Salazar before rising to the No. 1 position in the WBO rankings. In July 2025, he defeated Jorge Garcia to capture the WBO super welterweight world title less than two months shy of his 23rd birthday. In his first defense, he became the first Puerto Rican to unify world titles on the island by outpointing WBA champion Abass Baraou in January.

Standing in his way is Albanian heavyweight Prenga, who holds an incredible knockout record – 20 wins, 20 knockouts – and just one defeat on his professional record.

The 35-year-old, who turned professional in 2016, will be competing in the highest-profile bout of his career to date, marking his first appearance in a major international main event.

Prenga said: “Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, but he made a terrible miscalculation in picking me as his opponent. This is the kind of fight that changes everything in my life and his.

“I know they have big plans ahead after this fight. I know they are overlooking me. I’m happy about that. I will derail their plans and shock the world this July in Saudi Arabia.”

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Blancas (14-0 7 KOs) is unbeaten since turning pro in 2022 and will make his 2026 debut following an impressive three-win 2025. The 24-year-old opened the year with a dominant unanimous decision triumph over the previously unbeaten Juan Barajas, before scoring an explosive first round knockout of Kwame Ritter in May. Most recently, Blancas stopped William Townsel in three rounds in December.

“I’m honored to be headlining on Prime Video on May 2,” said Blancas. “This is an incredible card and I can’t wait to give the fans an exciting fight and show my skills. This is gonna be a great night Cinco de Mayo weekend.”

**JUAN CARRILLO VS. MARLO DELGADO**

In a rare battle of Olympians with undefeated pro records, Colombia’s Juan Carrillo will go up against Ecuador’s Marlo Delgado in an eight-round light heavyweight attraction.

The 33-year-old now trains in Las Vegas as he looks to build on his most recent outing, a February 2025 first-round KO of Cristian Andres Pena. Currently ranked number 23 by the WBC, Carrillo owns a victory over then unbeaten Richard Vansiclen as well as amateur triumphs over former champion Hassan N’Dam and former title challenger Liam Williams.

“Marlo Delgado is a tough fighter, and I respect anybody who steps in the ring, but I see openings in his style that I’m gonna take advantage of,” said Carrillo. “I’m coming into this fight with a chip on my shoulder and ready to fight like everything is on the line, because it is. Fans can expect action. I’m not here to coast. I’m here to dominate and make it clear I’m a problem in this division.”

After representing his native Ibarra, Ecuador at the 2012 Olympics, Delgado (8-0, 6 KOs) continued to have a prolific amateur career that included sharing the ring with a who’s who of big names including Dmitry Bivol, Terrell Gausha and Christian Mbilli, in addition to triumphs over notable names such as Misael Rodriguez and Endry Saavedra. Amari “The Reaper” Jones is rapidly establishing himself as a serious contender in the middleweight division, combining power with a composed, versatile style. He made a strong statement in his most recent outing, stopping Luis Arias after Arias declined to continue following the third round of their scheduled 10-round bout on the Mario Barrios vs. Ryan Garcia pay-per-view card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, further reinforcing his reputation as a dangerous finisher.
Since turning professional in April 2021, Jones has compiled an undefeated 16-0 record with 14 knockouts, showcasing his skills across the United States, Australia, Mexico and Equatorial Guinea. His ability to switch fluidly between orthodox and southpaw stances adds another layer to his game, making him a difficult puzzle for opponents.
His momentum amplified in June 2025 when Jones signed with Golden Boy Promotions, a pivotal step to elevate his profile and expand his opportunities on a global stage. He made an immediate impression in his Golden Boy debut, scoring a third-round knockout over Shady Gamhour at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin in November 2025. Before entering the professional ranks, Jones built a strong amateur foundation, winning multiple national titles and consistently testing himself against top competition. Now training under respected coach Virgil Hunter, he continues to refine his craft while climbing the rankings, currently sitting No. 4 with the IBF, No. 15 with the WBC and No. 10 with Ring Magazine. Representing Oakland, California, Jones brings together natural athleticism and a rugged edge that gives him a distinctive presence in the ring.
Vincenzo “El Capo” Gualtieri is a German middleweight contender and former IBF world champion with a professional record of 25-1-1, including 8 knockouts. Gualtieri made his biggest breakthrough when he captured the vacant IBF middleweight world title in a major upset, earning a unanimous decision victory over Brazil’s Esquiva Falcão and announcing himself on the world stage.
Gualtieri’s reign was tested in his first defense, where he faced unbeaten unified champion Zhanibek Alimkhanuly in an IBF and WBO title unification bout, ultimately coming up short via sixth-round TKO. Since that defeat, “El Capo” has rebounded strongly, putting together a four-fight winning streak as he works his way back into title contention and re-establishes himself among the top names in the middleweight division.
Also on the card, undefeated cruiserweight Robin “ROBZ” Safar (19-0, 13 KOs) will return in the co-main event in a 12-round fight. His opponent will soon be announced.
Robin “ROBZ” Safar grew up in the Stockholm suburb of Visättra, where he faced a challenging environment that shaped his resilience and drive. He discovered boxing at 19 as a way to change the direction of his life, and under the guidance of trainer Ibn Cason, he has developed into a standout professional with an undefeated record of 19-0, including 13 knockouts.
Safar made a major statement in the summer of 2024 with a breakthrough victory over former light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, instantly establishing himself as a rising force in the cruiserweight division. In March 2025, he made his Golden Boy debut with a fifth-round TKO win over Roberto Silva in Cancun, Mexico, and followed it up with a unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Derrick Miller Jr. on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin at Dickies Arena. Now ranked No. 4 by the WBO, No. 9 by Ring Magazine, and No. 13 by both the WBC and IBF, Safar continues his climb toward a world title opportunity. His rapid rise in the sport reflects his discipline, development and determination to reach the top of the cruiserweight division.

“I’m happy, I’m continuing to improve in the ring – and I know I’ve got the best team around me. There’s a lot of talk about loyalty these days, but my head hasn’t been turned. I’m delighted to commit my future to this winning team as we chase more success together.

“With Frank, Eddie and the wider Matchroom team, my advisor Sean O’Toole, and my whole training team led by my dad, we’ve got something special. This is the team that will take me to that next level.

“I will show everyone that I am the best 140lbs boxer in the world by collecting every belt in the division, and of course to box at Hillsborough along the way.

“First up is to deal with my WBC mandatory, Alberto Puello. With two WBC title fights on the bill, June 6 is going to be a massive night in Sheffield.”

Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is thrilled to secure Smith’s signature and believes his stunning World Title win over Subriel Matias in the USA at the beginning of the year will prove to be the springboard to many more memorable nights for the Yorkshireman.

“That night in Brooklyn ranks up there for me as one of the greatest away day wins from any British fighter,” said Hearn

“The celebrations were euphoric and the memories will live forever. But this young man is not only the fighting pride of Sheffield, he’s a future Hall of Famer for British boxing – and I believe there are many more special nights on the horizon for him, starting on June 6 at the Utilita Arena, live on DAZN.

“I’m so pleased that he has signed a long-term deal with us. We can begin to manoever a very exciting future ahead. The road to Undisputed begins now.”

Former World Champion Skye Nicolson – who headlines in Australia next week in Melbourne against Mariah Turner on Wednesday, April 29 – is another star from Matchroom Boxing’s world class stable to sign a long-term deal recently, along with British & Commonwealth Middleweight holder George Liddard and English Lightweight champ Giorgio Visioli.

Santiago de Chile Becomes Boxing’s Capital with WBA Fedelatin Convention

Latin American boxing steps into a historic week as the WBA Fedelatin Convention kicks off in Santiago de Chile. The Chilean capital is gearing up for a fight marathon set for April 24–25, featuring a slate of regional title bouts that positions this card as the most significant event in the region so far this year under the World Boxing Association banner.

Friday night’s opening bill will be headlined by a compelling clash between Cuban amateur legend Lázaro Álvarez and Brazil’s Jackson Furtado. A three-time Olympic medalist, Álvarez is looking to solidify his transition into the professional ranks as he challenges for the WBA Continental Latin America lightweight title. Across the ring, Furtado arrives determined to pull off the upset and prove that South American grit can disrupt the polished Cuban school of boxing.

Also on the card, Argentina’s seasoned Jonathan Wilson Sánchez returns to action to face Cuba’s Yusnier Sorsano Ruiz for the WBA Fedelatin super welterweight belt. It’s a high-stakes matchup where Sánchez’s experience will be tested against Sorsano’s hunger and ambition.

The intensity ramps up on Saturday, April 25, at Sala Omnium, where several pivotal bouts could reshape the landscape of multiple divisions. One of the most anticipated showdowns features unbeaten prospect Josué Agüero taking on Ángel Daniel García for the WBA Gold super featherweight title. Agüero is widely regarded as one of the brightest rising talents in the region, and a win could push him to the doorstep of a world title opportunity.

Women’s boxing will also take center stage as Argentina’s undefeated Aldana Florencia López squares off against Mexico’s battle-tested former world champion Montserrat Alarcón for the WBA International light minimumweight title. It’s a classic matchup of youth versus experience, with “La Avispa” López looking to dethrone a seasoned veteran.

The card will be rounded out with high-speed action in the lighter divisions. Local favorite Andrés Campos will attempt to capture the WBA Fedelatin super flyweight title against Ángel Geovanny Meza, while in the flyweight division, Joel Agustín Contreras of La Rioja meets Ángel Alvarado Soto for another WBA Fedelatin belt. Adding an international flavor, Italy’s Pierluigi Ruhe will face Malaysia’s Mohd Azahar for the WBA Gold super welterweight title.

Under the watchful eye of the WBA’s top brass, Santiago will ultimately decide who emerges as the next wave of contenders and standard-bearers for continental boxing in 2026.

Canadian lightweight prospect Eric Basran to headline “The Homecoming” in WBC title fight

HAMILTON, Ontario, Canada (April 21, 2026) — Canadian lightweight prospect Eric Basran (8-1, 3 KOs) will headline “The Homecoming” professional boxing card, presented by his promoter, Three Lions Promotions, on May 30th at Royal King Palace in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The 27-year-old Basran will take on Chilean Lightweight Champion Sebastian “Cerberus” Caucaman (5-1-1, 2 KOs) in the 10-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Lightweight title.

The 27-year-old Basran, who fights out of Surrey, British Columbia in Canada, gained invaluable experience competing in last year’s World Boxing Council Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia, in which he suffered his first loss as a pro in the second round of tournament competition.

“This will be the biggest fight of my life,” Basran said. “I learned so much in Saudi Arabia and I will be showcasing my improved skills to people who mean the most to me, my family and friends. I’m excited to be headlining at home and fighting for the WBC belt. Surrey gets to see the best of Eric Basran, one they’ve never seen before. I’m ready to make a major statement.”

While Basran will be fighting in his first scheduled 10-round bout, Caucaman defeated Felipe Pizarro (3-3-1) last October, by way of a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision (100-90 X 2, 98-92), for the Chilean lightweight crown.

“With Eric Basran returning after competing internationally, along with a strong supporting lineup, fans can expect a high-quality night of action,” Three Lions Promotions managing director Daniel Otter commented.

Eric Basran

Former CPBC Canadian (amateur) Champion, Surrey light heavyweight Buneet “Surrey’s Lion” Bisla (14-1, 7 KOs), will face TBA in the 8-round, co-feature event.

A Special Super Middleweight Attraction showcases reigning Canadian Champion John-Michael “J-Money” Bianco (9-1, 4 KOs) in an 8-round non-title fight against undefeated Surrey’s Harkirat Nijjar (6-0, 5 KOs), a 2020 BC Provincial Champion.

Other pro boxers scheduled to be action on “The Homecoming” card include Vancouver flyweight Nyousha “Superfly” Nakhjiri (5-0, 2 KOs), 2025 Canadian Elite National Champion, Hamilton bantamweight Meilyn Sanchez Martinez (3-0, 1 KO), and Toronto welterweight Vadym Klym (2-0, 0 KOs).

“This card reflects the strength and depth of Canadian boxing right now,” Otter added. “We’re bringing together fighters at different stages of their careers who are looking to take meaningful steps forward.”

May 16: Kelvin Davis-Peter Dobson Welterweight Clash & Yan Santana-Cristian Cruz Featherweight Battle Added to Keyshawn Davis-Nahir Albright II Card LIVE on DAZN

NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2026) — Nearly one year after the lone defeat of his pro career, Kelvin Davis returns home to reassert himself against veteran Peter Dobson in a 10-round welterweight showdown on Saturday, May 16, at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Additionally, iron-fisted Dominican contender Yan Santana looks to inch closer to a world title opportunity in a 10-round featherweight battle against Cristian Cruz Chacon.

Davis-Dobson and Santana-Cruz join a card headlined by the Keyshawn Davis-Nahir Albright 12-round super lightweight rematch.

In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, former world champion Brian Norman Jr. returns against Canada’s Josh Wagner.

Keyshawn-Albright II, Norman-Wagner, Davis-Dobson and Santana-Cruz will be streamed LIVE on DAZN beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with RDR Promotions, tickets are on sale at the Scope Arena box office and via Ticketmaster.com.

Davis (15-1, 8 KOs), the 29-year-old brother of Keyshawn, looks to bounce back after last June’s majority decision loss to Albright. Davis rallied late in a back-and-forth tussle that left one scorecard even. He now moves up to welterweight to take on Dobson (17-3, 10 KOs), a 35-year-old native of the Bronx who has faced the likes of Conor Benn in February 2024 and then-unbeaten Jakil Hacket in July of that year.

Santana (16-0, 13 KOs) looks to become the first man to stop Cruz as he climbs the rankings in a division ruled by proven champions. Santana went 3-0 with one knockout in 2025, including a fifth-round stoppage of Alexis Eduardo Molina in November. Cruz (24-7-2, 12 KOs) is 2-0-1 since his April 2024 decision loss to Ruben Villa, including a points win over Jeremy Hill last September before a split draw against once-beaten Muhammad Yaquobov in November.

Sanchez shocks Marrero to win WBC FECARBOX title;Lee outpoints Sosa for the NABF Championship

HARTFORD, CT – In front of a sold-out crowd at the Connecticut Convention CenterCES Boxing delivered one of its most memorable nights in recent history with The Riverside Rumble, a 10-bout card that featured two championship fights, the return of a hometown hero, a Connecticut light heavyweight showdown, and the kind of unpredictable drama that defines the sport.

Sanchez shocks Marrero in Dramatic Main Event

The main event between Bridgeport’s Jacob “Lefty” Marrero (11-1, 8 KOs) and Venezuela’s Rowin Sanchez (7-2-3, 5 KOs) had all the makings of a classic — two young, hungry southpaws fighting for their first professional title.

Bridgeport’s Marrero, 26, made his pro debut in 2018 and won his first four bouts before legal troubles in 2019 sidelined him for almost five years.  Returning in 2024, ‘Lefty’ has been on a mission to redeem himself and fulfill the potential so many see in him.

Sanchez’s story is just as compelling. The 29-year-old also turned pro in 2018 and had nine fights in two years. However, due to the political climate in Venezuela, he had an almost six-year gap in his career.  Looking to escape the turmoil surrounding his country, Sanchez traveled through six countries to settle in the United States so that he could continue his career.

The bout was fought at a fast pace from the opening bell, as Marrero mixed offense with defense and Sanchez looked to match his tempo.  It looked like the bout might end early when Sanchez missed a right hook and Marrero countered with a left hand to the head that dropped the Venezuelan.  Referee Johnny Callas ruled that the shot was behind the head, and the fight resumed.

Marrero continued to be successful in round two, mixing quick shots with responsible defense to the crowd’s delight.

But everything changed at the end of round three.

During a furious exchange, a sudden right hook from Sanchez landed flush, dropping Marrero hard to the canvas. Referee Johnny Callas stopped counting as it was clear that Lefty would not beat the count.  Time was 2:54 of the round.

In a tense and emotional scene, medical personnel entered the ring and transported Marrero out on a stretcher. Encouragingly, he was responsive and moving as he was taken for further evaluation.

With the win, Sanchez captured the WBC FECARBOX Lightweight Championship, but the result was secondary in a moment that brought the entire arena to a standstill.

Iman Lee Claims First Pro Title in Co-Main Event

In the co-main event, Yonkers’ Iman Lee (15-0-1, 8 KOs) delivered the most complete performance of his career, capturing the vacant NABF Super Featherweight Championship with a hard-earned decision over Jose Nunez Sosa (8-3, 6 KOs).

Lee, 26, was fresh off a successful run in the WBC Grand Prix Featherweight Tournament, where he went 2-0-1 against top prospects from all over the world in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

That experience served Lee well against Sosa, a tough-as-nails boxer from the Dominican Republic who gave Kevin Walsh all he could handle in November.

Lee came out aggressively in round one, looking to back Sosa up with his sharp jab and long right hand.  Undeterred, Sosa was happy to meet Lee in the center of the ring and go blow for blow.

The fight continued at a frenetic pace throughout, with the taller, rangier Lee applying steady pressure behind solid jabs, vicious left hooks and right hands, and the equally fast but shorter Sosa responding with explosive left hooks and right hands.

What began as a high-speed chess match evolved into a test of will. The fighters weren’t taking turns as much as they were firing feverish combinations at the same time. Lee’s superior conditioning and composure gradually took control beginning in round six as Sosa’s output slowed.

By the championship rounds, Lee was pressing forward with authority, closing the show strong to secure scores of 78-74, 78-74, and 77-75.

Rivera stuns Bohdziewicz in Light Heavyweight Showdown

In a Connecticut light heavyweight showdown, Manchester’s Jose Carlos “Rated R” Rivera (10-4-1, 5 KOs) handed Stamford’s Slawomir “Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz (7-1, 6 KOs) the first loss of his career in a back-and-forth war.

Bohdziewicz looked to take control of the fight early on, plodding forward behind a stiff jab, while smaller but faster Rivera circled the ring and looked for opportunities to counter.

Rivera didn’t have to wait long.  Just as Bohdziewicz threw a right hand, Rivera launched a looping left counter in round one that dropped Slaw on the seat of his pants for a flash knockdown.

Bohdziewicz looked to even the score in round two, applying non-stop pressure to trap Rivera in the corner where he could land his vaunted body assault.  However, once in the corner, the experienced Rivera used his superior speed to land an overhand left, right and looping left that dropped Bohdziewicz hard and nearly sent the Polish fighter out of the ring.

Bohdziewicz again beat the count and came out in round three determined to turn the tide.  With Rivera tiring in round four and the Polish fans roaring him on, the fight began to take the pattern of Slaw pressuring with activity and Rivera circling and looking to land something big.

At the end of eight rounds, Rivera won a majority decision by scores of 59-53, 57-55 and 56-56.
It was a gritty, high-level fight that showcased both fighters’ toughness and likely set the stage for a rematch.

Williams Delivers Explosive Homecoming

Hartford’s own Mykquan Williams (24-1-2, 12 KOs) made his long-awaited return home count in emphatic fashion.

Fighting in front of his hometown crowd for the first time in four years, the super lightweight contender needed less than two minutes to remind everyone exactly who he is — detonating a thunderous overhand right that flattened Argentina’s Guillermo Crocco (20-7-1, 6 KOs) for a first-round knockout.

It was the kind of performance that brings a crowd to its feet and puts a division on notice.

Other Action

Fighting for the second time in as many month’s Stamford’s Douglas “El Uno” Marroquin (10-0, 6 KOs) continued his impressive rise, breaking down New York’s Victor Vasquez (11-6, 5 KOs) with relentless pressure before the fight was stopped after three rounds of a middleweight bout.

In front of a raucous crowd, Meriden’s Carlos Perez (5-0, 1 KO) scored his first knockout with a crushing body shot that ended his bout against Deonta Williamson (3-8, 3 KOs) in the opening round of a super lightweight match.

Blue-chip super bantamweight prospect Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm improved to 7-1 (6 KOs) and showed a different facet of his game. Known for a string of first-round knockouts, Chisholm used superior hand speed, movement and defense to earn a unanimous decision over Bosnia’s Anel Dudo (4-8-1, 1 KO).  Scores were 58-56 (2x) and 59-55 for the Stratford native.

Ireland’s Conor O’Donovan (2-0, 2 KOs) wasted little time in his second pro bout, stopping Michael Douglas (0-2) with a perfectly timed check right hand just 31 seconds into the first round of a lightweight contest.

New Haven welterweight Kevante “The Key” Wineglass (4-0, 3 KOs) kept his perfect record intact, overwhelming St. Louis’ Anthony Jones (0-2) with a sharp combination en route to a first-round stoppage.  Time was 1:13 of the round.

Kicking off the card, super welterweight Victor Guerra Vargas (2-0, 2 KOs) made it two straight stoppages to begin his career, overwhelming debuting Jean Estiverne (0-1) with sustained pressure before a crushing right hand forced a fourth-round stoppage.  It was a tough but game debut for Estiverne, who showed heart under heavy fire, but Vargas’ power ultimately proved too much.

**ISAAC LUCERO VS. ISMAEL FLORES**

Fresh off a pair of KO victories in 2025, undefeated rising contender Isaac “Puro México” Lucero will look to bring that momentum into 2026 as he steps in against the power punching Ismael Flores, who makes his U.S. debut in this eight-round super welterweight showdown.

The 27-year-old Lucero (18-0, 14 KOs) turned pro in 2019 after an amateur career that saw him earn five national medals representing Mexico. A native of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Lucero has stopped his last seven opponents entering May 2, and also owns a pair of 10-round unanimous decision triumphs. In looking to make his U.S. takeover, Lucero has set up camp in Las Vegas, where he is trained by renowned coach Bob Santos. Most recently, Lucero dominated veteran Roberto Valenzuela Jr. in December, stopping the fight at the end of round 8.

“I’m very grateful to my team, and everyone who worked to make this possible,” said Lucero. “Fighting on Cinco de Mayo weekend is every Mexican boxer’s dream, and I accept this challenge with the upmost professionalism, as I’ll be facing the most important challenge of my career on this huge stage. I will show everyone why I’m ‘Puro México!’”

Originally from Argentina, Flores (17-1-1, 12 KOs) moved to Spain to pursue his boxing dreams and has put together an impressive record fighting out of the country since 2021. The 27-year-old has won seven straight fights since a decision defeat to Jorge Fortea in 2023, including five-straight wins inside of the distance. Most recently, Flores added two knockouts to that streak in 2025, blasting out Johan Nova in two rounds in March before a ninth-round stoppage victory over Oliver Quintana Sanchez in October.

“I’m so excited about this fight, it’s the kind of fight I’ve wanted for a long time,” said Flores. “This fight is going to change my life. I’ve never stopped training, so I was more than ready to jump on this opportunity. I’m in great shape and I’m going to surprise everyone. I’m coming to stay in the U.S. for a long time.”

**JORGE CHAVEZ VS. JOSE “TITO” SANCHEZ**

In a super bantamweight attraction, undefeated rising contenders square off as Jorge Chavez and Jose “Tito” Sanchez step into the ring for a 10-round showdown that sets the winner up with a career-best victory on their path to a world title.

The 26-year-old Chavez (15-0-1, 8 KOs) returns to action after kicking off 2026 by avenging the only blemish on his record. Chavez scored a unanimous decision in January over Manuel Flores after the combatants had previously battled to a majority draw last July. Originally from Tijuana and now training in Orange County, Chavez’s two bouts against Flores were his first two 10 rounds bouts after he won a pair of nearly shutout eight rounds decisions in his prior two outings. A pro since 2021, Chavez’s January victory also earned him a California State Title at 122-pounds.

“I’m so thankful to be a fighter of Mexican descent competing on pay-per-view on the world’s biggest stage on Cinco de Mayo weekend,” said Chavez. “I’m grateful to my entire team for this chance to showcase my skills as part of such a huge event. I’ve worked so hard my entire life for this opportunity and I intend to put on a great show May 2. Viva Mexico!”

Representing Cathedral City, California, Sanchez (15-0. 9 KOs) is trained by the renowned Joel Diaz as he looks to make a statement in the super bantamweight division. The 26-year-old ended a 15-month layoff in January, as he stepped back into the ring to deliver a sixth-round knockout of Jesus Eduardo Ramirez Rubio. Sanchez had previously put together an impressive 2024 that saw him first turn back veteran Erik Ruiz via unanimous decision in April before scoring an eighth-round knockout of Edwin Palomares in October.

“On May 2, I will finally get my chance to fight on a huge card in Las Vegas and fulfill a dream I’ve had ever since I was a kid,” said Sanchez. “I’ve trained very hard to make it to this level, and I want to thank my family and my whole team for this opportunity to shine in front of the crowd in Las Vegas during this big boxing weekend. But your tickets and come out early to watch a great show.”

Registration Now Open for the Return of the Butterfly Brawl at the Iconic Santa Monica Pier – August 22, 2026

Santa Monica, CA — The highly anticipated Butterfly Brawl is officially back, and registration is now open for fighters looking to compete on one of the most unique and iconic stages in combat sports—the Santa Monica Pier. Scheduled for August 22, 2026, this year’s event promises to be bigger, more electrifying, and more impactful than ever before.

Originally launched in 2017 as the “Butterfly Ball,” the event was created to honor the life of Yassy Hosseini and support charitable causes. In its early years, the event benefited organizations such as City of Hope. As the event has evolved into the Butterfly Brawl, it now proudly supports the American Cancer Society as its official beneficiary for 2026.

Over the years, the Butterfly Brawl has become a unique fusion of elite boxing and world-class entertainment, featuring unforgettable performances from global superstars including The Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak, Jermaine Dupri, and Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie Boys. While this year’s musical talent has yet to be announced, expectations remain high given the event’s history of top-tier performances.

The 2026 Butterfly Brawl will once again reach a wide audience through streaming distribution across platforms operated by NBC and Telemundo, continuing the momentum from last year’s successful broadcast presence.

Fighters from across the country are encouraged to register now for a chance to compete under the lights at one of the most scenic venues in sports. All fighters must be registered at Fightbook.com to be considered. Fightbook is a free platform designed to connect everyone in combat sports—fighters, promoters, managers, and matchmakers—streamlining opportunities and making it easier than ever to get matched and compete.

Mark Habibi, Founder and President of Fightbook, expressed his excitement about the event’s return:

“We’re thrilled to bring the Butterfly Brawl back to the Santa Monica Pier. This event continues to grow every year, and 2026 is going to be our biggest one yet. The energy, the support from the city, and the platform we’re building for fighters is truly special. I can’t wait to run this back again.”

In addition to fighters, the Butterfly Brawl is actively seeking corporate sponsors and partners to be part of this high-profile event. With strong digital distribution and a vibrant live audience, the Butterfly Brawl offers a powerful platform for brands looking to align with sports, entertainment, and community impact.

With the full backing of the local community and a proven track record of success, the Butterfly Brawl is set to deliver an unforgettable night of action, music, and purpose.

Registration is now open. Fighters, sponsors, and partners are encouraged to secure their place early for this one-of-a-kind event.

(April 20, 2026) – Friday, May 1, ProBox Promotions and NoXcuse Promotions will proudly present The Contender Series, a night of action-packed world-class boxing featuring undefeated super featherweight Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khaan” Erdenebat (14-0, 6 KOs) of Mongolia taking on once-beaten Cobia Breedy (18-1, 8 KOs) of nearby Largo, Maryland, in the explosive 10-round main event from The HALL at Live! in Live! Casino Hotel Maryland in Hanover, Maryland, and broadcast in real time on ProBoxTV (7:00 pm EDT/4:00 pm PDT).

In the 10-round super featherweight co-feature, entertaining fan favorite “The Franchise” Francois Scarboro Jr. (13-0, 9 KOs) of Cheverly, Maryland, will look to defend his home turf against Managua, Nicaragua’s Maxwel Montes (13-4-1, 7 KOs).

And in the chief supporting bout, 21-year-old Washington, DC-based welterweight prospect David “The Bodysnatcher” Whitmire (11-0, 8 KOs) will take his toughest test to date against Albuquerque veteran Jose Luis “Guerro” Sanchez (14-6-2, 4 KOs).

Tickets to attend ProBoxTV’s “The Contender Series” in person at Live! Casino Hotel Maryland in Hanover are available by clicking HERE.

Now living in Paramount, California, but originally hailing from Tsetserleg, Mongolia, Tsendbaatar Erdenebat competed for his native country in the 2020 Tokyo and 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, and won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games before turning professional in 2018.

Erdenebat is a ProBoxTV veteran, having already appeared five times in the proving grounds of the Future Stars and Contender Series. In February of last year, the 29-year-old southpaw captured the WBA Central Asia Lightweight title with a dominant TKO victory over Mexico’s (then 15-1-2) Pedro Bernal in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking his first time fighting on home soil and fulfilling his dream of winning a title in his native Mongolia. Erdenebat was last seen scoring a short-notice unanimous 10-round decision over ultra-tough Mexican contender Abraham Montoya in November of last year, live on ProBoxTV.

Originally from Bridgetown, Barbados, and now living in the DMV, 34-year-old Cobia Breedy was a standout amateur boxer who made his country’s 2024 Olympic team but did not compete due to a shoulder injury. Breedy has trained out of Barry Hunter’s HeadBangers Gym in Washington DC for the past couple of years, having relocated to the area prior to turning pro in 2014.

Breedy’s only career loss came to a different Mongolian Olympian, 2012 Olympic Gold medallist Tugstsogt Nyambayar, in September 2020. Although Breedy went down in rounds one and two, he battled back to lose a tight split decision in a world title eliminator, televised live on Showtime. Breedy has sparred with pound-for-pound entrants Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis. He was last seen in the ring stopping 19-4 Dexter Marques in October of last year.

Several other exciting Future Stars series bouts are scheduled, featuring several local and national prospects.

In a six-round welterweight showcase, 21-year-old phenom Benjamin Johnson (7-0. 7 KOs) of Springdale, Maryland will face battle-hardened Lesther “El Negrito Explosivo” Espino (10-8, 8 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua.

Charles “LOLO” Harris Jr. (11-1, 7 KOs) of Rialto, California, will return against Schereville, Indiana’s Blake Fialka (2-2-1, 1 KOs) in a super lightweight six-rounder; 22-year-old former amateur standout Jordan “Iceman” Roach (7-0, 2 KOs) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, will take on Holman “La Pulga” Matamoros (2-1) of Matagalpa, Nicaragua in a super flyweight six-rounder; 25-year-old Washington, DC southpaw Jay Stancil III (4-0, 1 KO) will continue his development against Nicolas Daniels (0-1) of Westland, Michigan, in a featherweight four-rounder, and in a women’s six-round bantamweight tussle, Rianna Rios (10-0, 2 KOs) of San Antonio will test herself against Elena “Guerrerita’ Ventura (9-11-2, 2 KOs) of San Antonino Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca, Mexico.

In a very special added attraction, former amateur champion and brand-new ProBox Promotions signee “Razor” Ramon Ordonez of Newark, New Jersey, will make his highly anticipated pro debut against Carlos Davila Villalobos (1-1) of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

Before turning professional, 19-year-old southpaw Ordonez was one of the United States’ top amateurs, making it to the US national team in 2025 while competing at the World Championships in England and the World Boxing Cup in Brazil as the youngest boxer on the squad. A five-time national champion, Ordonez had his first amateur bout at age eight and fought in more than 50 bouts, with most coming in national tournaments.

Ordonez, whose parents hail from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, says his goal is to become the next Puerto Rican superstar, following in the footsteps of his favorites, Felix “Tito” Trinidad and Miguel Cotto.

On fight night, doors open at 3:30 pm EDT and the first fight starts at 4:00 pm EDT. The Hall at Live! Casino Hotel Maryland is located at 7002 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover, Maryland. Free Parking for All Events. All Ages to Enter, Must Be 21+ To Drink.

Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy ‘The Governor’ Hyde Improves to 15-0 with 10th KO

CORK, Ireland (April 19, 2026) – Fighting at home for only the fourth time during his pro career, Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy “The Governor” Hyde (15-0, 10 KOs) kept his undefeated with a third-round knockout last night (Sat.) in the “Revolution” main event.

“Revolution,” presented by NoWhere2Hyde Promotions,, was streamed live globally via www.trillertv.com from Parochial Hall in Gurranabraher, Cork, Ireland.

The 6’ 4”, 26-year-old Hyde dominated his British challenger Mick “The Hammer” Hall (15-4, 2 KOs), hurting him early and often until the end mercifully came late in round three.

“I’m delighted to get another good win at home in front of a loud Irish crowd,” Hyde said after his fight. “I was happy with my performance and felt like I brought some of the things we have been working on in the gym into the ring on fight night. I have been working hard with my coach, Lee Beard, in Manchester, and feel like I’m improving and showing it in every fight. I’m already looking forward to the next one and I’m excited to see what the next opportunity is.”

“It’s great filling these small halls and at the same building,” commented event promoter and Tommy’s father, Gary Hyde. “Tommy was in with an experienced fighter. Tommy took full control of the right in round 1. He kept Hall on his back foot and as soon as he felt Tommy’s power, he was just trying to survive. Tommy landed a jab to the body, double jab to the head, and followed up with a vicious right uppercut that broke Hall’s nose. He lost any of his earlier ambitions and was counted out.”

Two other decorated Irish amateur boxers from Cork, pro-debuting welterweight Ryan McCarthy (1-0, 0 KOs) and light heavyweight Brian “Bone Breaker” Long (4-0, 2 KOs), also turned in impressive, winning performances on points in front of their joyous hometown fans.

McCarthy, a 2024 Irish Elite Champion, defeated his Brazilian foe Wendall “Para” Da Costa Santos (3-8-4, 0 KOs), 40-35, while Long, a 2024 Irish National Immediate Champion, shutout Londoner Ife Jarrett (0-13-1), 40-36.

OFFICIAL RESULTS FROM SATURDAY’S HISTORIC SD FIGHT NIGHT: FAMILY BUSINESS

OCEANSIDE, CALIF. (April 19, 2026) – SD Fight Night: Family Business, presented by G2G Promotions and Frontwave Arena, delivered a highly successful debut, setting the tone for a new era of boxing in San Diego. Broadcast live across North America by Integrated Sports Media on major cable providers, DISH, and digital platforms including Bash.tv, PPV.com, TrillerTV, and Fubo, the event marked a historic milestone—drawing the largest attendance for a boxing event in Frontwave Arena history at 5,000 tickets sold.

In the double main event and final fight of the evening, San Diego’s Julius “JuJu” Ballo (3-0) rose to the occasion in the toughest test of his young career, earning a unanimous decision victory over heavy-handed Roman Reyes (6-2, 5 KOs) of Santa Ana, Calif. Drawing from an uber-successful amateur career that included more than 60 bouts, the 2024 Golden Gloves champion showcased his speed, composure, and ring IQ, consistently picking his shots while neutralizing Reyes’ power. Despite Reyes entering the bout with five knockout wins and a reputation as a dangerous finisher, Ballo controlled the tempo throughout, using sharp combinations and disciplined movement to keep his opponent at bay.

Building on back-to-back statement wins to begin his professional career, Ballo once again displayed the maturity of a seasoned fighter, further solidifying his status as one of San Diego’s brightest young prospects. With another dominant performance in front of his hometown crowd, Ballo continued to deliver on the promise that has followed him since his standout amateur days.

“I took this fight minute by minute, punch by punch,” said Ballo. “This is only my third professional fight, but as the fight went on, I felt more and more comfortable. I thank my coaches for the brilliant gameplan. Reyes had a lot of experience, but I studied so hard for this fight. Everything in the ring comes naturally to me. I was born for this; I know boxing is my purpose. It was a great feeling to see 5,000 fans in attendance. I want all the smoke. I’ll fight whoever. I have a big fight coming up pretty soon.”

In the evening’s first half of the double main event,Ballo’s cousin Jonny Mansour (7-0, 2 KOs) remained unbeaten with a dominant performance over the dangerous William King (6-4-2, 3 KOs). Mansour controlled the fight from start to finish, badly hurting the Perris, Calif., resident  in both the opening and final rounds. Displaying sharp footwork, speed, and composed aggression, Mansour dictated the pace throughout, leaving King unable to mount a consistent response. Attention turned to the judges following the action-packed eight round fight with Mansour registering a landslide decision victory. In an emotional moment before his walkout alongside the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, Mansour also shared a heartfelt tribute honoring his late mother, who passed away last year.

“It’s a blessing to share the card with my cousin JuJu,” said Mansour. “San Diego doesn’t have a world champion. Imagine if JuJu and I became world champions on the same night. This event marked a huge milestone for us. I asked everyone to put on a fight in San Diego, and no one wanted to do it. I bet on myself and chose to put my promoter hat on. SD Fight Night: Family Business was a major investment, and it paid off. King was an extremely tough opponent, and I was trying to get him out of there. I couldn’t have done this without God, my family, and my fans.”

In a clash between two highly touted undefeated welterweights, Daniel Morales (9-0, 5 KOs) protected his perfect professional record against Alejandro Quintana (7-1-1, 5 KOs). Morales became the aggressor early in round one and forced Tijuana, Mexico’s Quintana onto his back foot throughout the six round battle. Nearly ending the contest in the final minute of the last round, Morales preserved his undefeated record.

Fighting out of Oceanside, Calif., Angel Munoz (9-2, 5 KOs) delivered a near-perfect performance against Cruz Becerra (3-2, 1 KO) in a six round super welterweight bout. Successfully out-striking the Mexico native, Munoz scored a second-round knockdown and pushed the pace in the sixth round en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Pedro Angel Cruz (6-6, 4 KOs) from San Jose, Calif., stormed into hostile territory and wasted no time against San Diego veteran Angel Estrada (12-2-1, 9 KOs). Cruz took control immediately, cutting off the ring and pressuring from the opening bell before unloading a sharp three-punch left-hand combination from his southpaw stance that resulted in a devastating first round knockout, handing Estrada his first defeat since 2011.

Undefeated San Diego prospect Richard Fernandez Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs) displayed incredible durability and grit in his super bantamweight outing against Wild Card Boxing Gym’s Sugary Montales (6-3, 4 KOs). With both pugilists pushed to their limits and each scoring a knockdown in round two, Fernandez Jr. bullishly claimed a unanimous decision victory after six rounds.

Competing for the first time in his hometown of Oceanside, Calif., Kyle Erwin (11-3, 5 KOs) saw his hand raised following a back-and-forth brawl against Phoenix’s Jose Marruffo (15-20-2, 2 KOs). With the raucous Frontwave Arena crowd backing him, Erwin strategically countered the aggressive Marruffo before ultimately scoring a fifth-round knockout.

In a bantamweight tilt, Pomona, Calif.’s Isaac Anguiano (11-1-1, 5 KOs) quickly found his rhythm, pitching a shutout against Jose Negrete (4-3, 4 KOs). Chula Vista, Calif.’s John Ornelas (6-2-1, 3 KOs) dominantly inserted himself back in the win column following an overwhelming first round TKO victory over Brandon Mendoza (6-12, 6 KOs). Making a statement in his professional debut in front of his hometown crowd, San Diego’s Angel de la Cruz Ramirez (1-0, 1 KO) made quick work of Mexico City native Antonio Sosa (1-1, 1 KO), earning a first round knockout win. Franklin Garcia (2-0, 2 KOs) of Vista, Calif. kicked off the night of action in spectacular fashion, swarming North Carolina’s Rahmel McKinley (1-3) to secure a first round knockout victory.

RICARDO SANDOVAL VS GALAL YAFAI SET FOR JUNE 6 AT SHEFFIELD’S UTILITA ARENA – LIVE ON THE GLOBAL HOME OF BOXING, DAZN

Galal Yafai’s blockbuster, Unified WBC & WBA World Flyweight Title challenge against Ricardo Sandoval is the co-Main Event for Matchroom Boxing’s bumper Fight Night in Sheffield on Saturday, June 6 – live on DAZN.

Local favourite Dalton Smith headlines in the Main Event, defending his WBC World Super Lightweight Championship for the first time against mandatory opponent Alberto Puello at the Utilita Arena.

Smith’s sensational stoppage victory over Subriel Matias in January saw him become one of Britain’s five reigning male World Champions in the sport.

And now Team GB’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics Gold Medal hero Yafai can etch his name into British boxing folklore by emulating Smith’s recent World Title heroics, should he dethrone the reigning 112lbs king Sandoval in the Steel City.

‘El Nino’ Sandoval (27-2, 18 KOs) captured the titles on a split decision in July 2025 in Japan when he overcame a fifth-round knockdown to defeat Kenshiro Teraji in Yokohama.

Yafai, meanwhile, returns to the ring for the first time since his controversial no-contest bout with Francisco Rodriguez Jr in Birmingham – and will be determined to firmly leave that memory in the past by defeating Sandoval in Sheffield.

Another major clash on the card is domestic rivals Josh Padley (18-1, 6 KOs) and Aqib Fiaz (14-1, 2 KOs) collide for the EBU Super Featherweight Title.

Elsewhere, undefeated Ibraheem Sulaimaan (10-0, 5 KOs) challenges Ibrahim Nadim (16-1, 2 KOs) for the English Super Featherweight Championship – as fellow Birmingham native Aaron Bowen (7-1, 5 KOs) travels to Yorkshire for a Middleweight tear-up with Staffordshire’s Troy Coleman (15-4-1, 7 KOs).

Rising youngsters Adam Maca (5-0, 5 KOs) and Connor Mitchell (2-0, 1 KO) continue their professional journeys too with Dalton Smith’s Steel City Gym stablemates, Middleweight Chris Mulunda (2-0) and Featherweight Ed Hardy (6-0, 2 KOs), in action too.

“What an unbelievable card this is in Sheffield, live on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN – and a real chance for the golden boy Galal Yafai to cement his legacy by winning the World Title”said Matchroom Sport Chairman, Eddie Hearn.

“Sandoval has built himself a reputation over the years as an underdog, fighting on the road. And Galal knows he will need to be at his very best to dethrone the Champion. But he is an elite, top operator and I truly believe that this is his time to rule the world, delivering on home soil.

“With Dalton Smith headlining, this will be a truly special night for British boxing fans – and this incredible card lights up what is already an unrivalled schedule for Matchroom Boxing.”

JESSE ‘BAM’ RODRIGUEZ PENS LONG TERM EXTENSION WITH EDDIE HEARN AND MATCHROOM

Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez has signed a long-term extension to his promotional contract with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom.

Rodriguez (23-0 16 KOs) penned his first deal with Matchroom in January 2022 and has had nine straight World title fights since, becoming a World champion just one month later with victory over Carlos Cuadras in Phoenix. Bam has gone on to become a two-weight World champion and a must-see marquee name in the game, unifying at both Flyweight and Super-Flyweight, beating future hall of famers Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada, and taking the undefeated records and belts of Sunny Edwards, Phumelele Cafu and Fernando Martinez.

The 26 year old is on the hunt to make more history and the announcement of his next outing is imminent, and both fighter and promoter are thrilled to be working together on that night and many more to come.

“Matchroom has been my home for the last four years and I can’t wait to keep making history with them by my side,” said Rodriguez. “We have many more world titles to win and new divisions to take over.”

“I’m delighted to extend our deal with Bam,” said Hearn. “Jesse is immovable in the top five of the pound-for-pound fighters in the world right now, and he could well be number one when it comes to delivering must-watch fights at the very elite level.

“Jesse’s next fight will be announced shortly, and yet again this young man looks to reach out for greatness and take on the biggest challenges that he possibly can – and we’re both proud and honored to be promoting Bam for many more years to come.”
