AUSTRALIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TALENT TEREMOANA INKS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

Australia’s Paris 2024 Olympics star Teremoana Teremoana has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn, in association with GoldStar and Tasman Fighters, and will make his Matchroom Boxing debut on the prestigious Monte-Carlo Showdown V at Salle Des Étoiles on Saturday December 14, shown live on DAZN.

The 26-year-old Heavyweight hails from Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, and was a gold medalist at the 2023 Pacific Games.

Raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Teremoana Jr announced himself on the global stage of the Games earlier this summer when he emphatically knocked out Ukraine’s Dmytro Lovchynski in the first round of his opening Olympics bout.

Although he came up short in the quarter-finals to eventual champion, 14-0 Uzbek pro, Bakhodir Jalolov, Teremoana’s signature was highly sought-after following the Games.

Guided by Katie Taylor’s legendary manager Brian Peters, Teremoana has already fought four professional fights – all four resulting in knockout wins, with his last outing coming back in 2022.

“I’m born and raised in Australia but I’m also very proud of my Cook Islands heritage,” said Teremoana. “I come from a long line of warriors and I’m very motivated to carry on the family name. I want the world to know it and I won’t stop until I’ve achieved that.

“I want to be on the world stage and I know that if I put in the work I have the ability to do that. The plan is to continue to build a fan base at home in Australia but also all around the world. I’m excited to get going on this journey and the first stop is Monte Carlo.

“I’ve learned so much over the last few years and really enjoyed the Olympic experience but now it’s time for a new phase in my career. My dream is to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world and I believe with Matchroom, GoldStar, and Tasman Fighters behind me I can achieve that. It’s going to be an exciting ride so let’s go!“

And Matchroom promoter Hearn was delighted to win the race for towering, 6ft 6in, heavy-hitting Heavyweight who he believes has all the credentials to become a huge success for his world class stable of elite fighters.

“I’m delighted to add another exciting Heavyweight talent to our growing global stable” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Hearn. “Teremoana gave us all a glimpse of what he is capable of in the Paris 2024 Olympics and his style and ability has improved drastically in recent years. He sees his Matchroom debut next month in Monte-Carlo as his new professional debut and I’m sure he will be putting many in the Heavyweight division on notice. TRUE GRIT: CALLUM SIMPSON DEFENDS BRITISH & COMMONWEALTH TITLES AGAINST STEED WOODALL ON JANUARY 11TH IN SHEFFIELD

SHEFFIELD, UK (November 29, 2024) – Callum Simpson defends his British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight Titles against Steed Woodall on Saturday, January 11th at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, presented by BOXXER, live and exclusive on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Peacock in the USA.

Caroline Dubois is also set for action against former world title challenger Jessica Camara as BOXXER kickstarts their 2025 schedule in Sheffield.

Simpson (15-0, 10 KOs) is the latest boxing star to emerge from South Yorkshire. Following in the footsteps of modern greats including Naseem Hamed, Kell Brook, Clinton Woods and Johnny Nelson, the undefeated 28-year-old will be looking to forge his own legacy having put his hometown of Barnsley on the boxing map with a dominant display to capture the British and Commonwealth Titles in August.

Fighting in front of a sold-out crowd at Oakwell Stadium, Simpson proved his pulling power and boxing prowess by dethroning reigning champion Zak Chelli via a unanimous points decision.

Simpson will be making the first defence of his belts against Birmingham’s Woodall (19-2-1, 12 KOs) and can expect a tough ride from the 30-year-old known as ‘The Stallion’, who will be full of confidence having claimed a career best win over the previously unbeaten Lerrone Richards in June.

Dubois (10-0, 5 KOs), considered by many as the number one prospect in women’s boxing and heir apparent to Katie Taylor’s throne, returns to Yorkshire having dropped and defeated Maira Moneo to claim the WBC Interim Lightweight Title at Oakwell Stadium in August.

The 23-year-old is targeting an all-British unification clash with Doncaster’s Terri Harper, the current WBO lightweight champion, but must first get past former super lightweight world title challenger Camara (14-4, 3 KOs), the highly ranked Canadian, who will be looking to derail the young Londoner’s promising career.

Callum Simpson said: “Winning the belts in Barnsley was a dream come true. It’s a moment I’ll never forget – hearing the crowd roar and seeing so many familiar faces made it extra special. Defending my titles in Sheffield is a great opportunity to bring even more people along for the ride and show them what I’m about.

“Yorkshire has such a proud boxing history. I want to do the county proud and add to that legacy. Being a Yorkshireman means having that Yorkshire grit and working hard. It gives me extra motivation to push myself and represent the county on the biggest stages.

“?Steed is a solid fighter. He’s experienced and I know he’ll be at his best. This is his opportunity, but I’ll be prepared for everything he might bring. I respect him, but I’m confident in my own abilities and preparation. I know I’ve got what it takes to get the job done.”

Steed Woodall said: “Callum is young and eager to impress. I will use this to my advantage. He’s ticked all the boxes so far, but his chin and resilience hasn’t been tested. I expect fireworks in this fight!

“This type of fight has been a long time coming for me and is one I will relish. This win means everything to me and providing a better life for my daughter. Styles make fights and I don’t have to go looking for Callum as he will meet me in the middle, which is exactly the type of fight I excel in. I wish Callum all the best in camp because there are deep waters ahead. May the best man win.”

BOXXER Founder & CEO Ben Shalom said: “What a start to the year. Two of the country’s brightest stars back in action for an unmissable night of boxing in Sheffield. Yorkshire has always been a hotbed for boxing talent. Callum Simpson is ready to take the mantle and fly the flag for Yorkshire on the world stage. He has a tough night ahead of him against Steed Woodall, who is coming off the back of an incredible knockout win over Lerrone Richards. This promises to be a real acid test for Simpson and an all-action fight for the British and Commonwealth Titles.

“Add to that Caroline Dubois, one of the most exciting female fighters in the world, in a must-win fight against Jessica Camara. Caroline has a big future ahead of her. She has her sights set on world titles and unifications but will need to be at her best to overcome an experienced, world-level operator like Camara.”

The Final Word: Legendary Rematches of Mexican Boxing Premieres Ahead of Emanuel Navarrete-Oscar Valdez II

(Nov. 27, 2024) —  Before WBO junior lightweight world champion Emanuel Navarrete and former two-weight champion Oscar Valdez meet in their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, they sat down for a spirited roundtable with four of their legendary Mexican countrymen: Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez.

For the first time, Chavez, Morales, Barrera, and Marquez joined forces for an on-camera panel. “The Final Word: Legendary Rematches of Mexican Boxing,” a half-hour show that delves into the rivalries and fighting spirit of Mexican fighters, premieres on ESPN2 this Saturday, Nov. 30, at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT. It will first air on ESPN Deportes on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT.

The program will also be available for replay on-demand on ESPN+ and Top Rank’s YouTube channel.

Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs) and Valdez (32-2, 24 KOs) first fought in August 2023, with Navarrete prevailing by unanimous decision in one of the year’s best action duels. They hope to add another blood-soaked chapter to the proud and storied history of all-Mexican ring battles. “The Final Word” explores the common themes that bind Mexico’s legendary pugilists and how they prepare for a familiar opponent. During an animated afternoon in Mexico City, the six decorated combatants talked a little trash and swapped stories from their most intense showdowns.

This is what the fistic icons had to say about this first-of-its-kindpanel discussion:

Chavez: “Meeting with the legendary figures of Mexican boxing, who have provided us with so many unforgettable moments in the sport we love, has been an incredibly enjoyable experience. We all agree that the Mexican boxing style is the one that most captivates fans. When two Mexican warriors face each other in the ring, it almost guarantees an unforgettable spectacle.”

Marquez: “I had the privilege of getting together with great legends of Aztec boxing to discuss some of the iconic rematches in Mexican boxing. We explored the rivalries that arise when Mexican warriors face off with different nationalities, but it’s clear that a thrilling war is always guaranteed when two Mexican fighters battle in the ring. This will be evident on December 7 when ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete and Oscar Valdez meet in a rematch that will keep us on the edge of our seats.”

Morales: “Some of the great champions of Mexican boxing met to discuss the rematch between Valdez and Navarrete on December 7, as well as other memorable rematches in Aztec boxing history. It was a wonderful meeting, as opportunities to come together and discuss boxing are rare. The conversation was enjoyable, and even though the fans didn’t think it was possible, it happened, and I’m confident they will enjoy it.”

Barrera: “I was really happy to get together with these great champions. It has been a while since I met some of the stars of Mexican boxing like this. It felt like a reunion of the past, present, and future of Mexican boxing. I have no words to express how happy I was. The reunion was extraordinary.”

Navarrete-Valdez II and the featherweight rematch between WBO champion Rafael Espinoza and Cuban former champion Robeisy Ramirez will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. Sky Sports will have coverage in the U.K. and Ireland.

Promoted by Top Rank, tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com.

CHISORA AND WALLIN SET FOR ‘LAST DANCE’ MANCHESTER SHOWDOWN

A MIGHTY CLASH of the heavyweights will take place at the Co-op Live in Manchester on Saturday February 8 when Derek Chisora enters into his 49th professional fight against Otto Wallin.

Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday 29th November, from 10:00 am.

Watch the ‘Last Dance’ Chisora vs Wallin live on TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland.

British stalwart Chisora, fresh from winning a unanimous decision over Joe Joyce in London back in July, gets to tick a wish off his publicised bucket list for the conclusion of his career by fighting in Manchester and he will get to do it at the recently opened largest arena in Europe, situated on the Etihad Campus.

The two-time world title challenger, 40, has won two in a row since his second world championship tilt against Tyson Fury in December 2022, having previously been outpointed by Vitali Klitschko for the WBC belt in 2012.

His current record stands at 35-13 (23 KOs), with Chisora having fought the vast majority of heavyweight champions and contenders across since beginning his career in 2007. He fought Fury on three occasions, Dillian Whyte twice, Joseph Parker twice, Kubrat Pulled twice, Oleksandr Usyk, David Price, Carlos Takam, Agit Kabayel and David Haye amongst many others.

Wallin, 27-2 (15 KOs), who resides in New York, is battling his way back into heavyweight contention following his defeat to Anthony Joshua, which featured as part of Riyadh Season in December of last year.

The 34-year-old from Sweden came into the fight off the back of a strong victory over Murat Gassiev in Antalya, Turkey, where he secured a decision over the ferocious punching former cruiserweight world champion.

The Gassiev win was the culmination of a six-fight winning streak for Wallin – which included a success over Dominic Breazeale – following a major step-up in September 2015 when he took on Tyson Fury in Las Vegas.

It turned out not to be a routine victory for Fury, who was one fight into his trilogy sequence with Deontay Wilder, with the Gypsy King suffering a horrific cut that required 47 stitches and being considered fortunate to make it to the end of the fight.

Derek Chisora, ahead of entering his 49th professional fight, said: “I’ve had some amazing nights in Manchester, both in the ring and in the warehouse raves so was its only right I had one last dance up north. Come February 8th I’m going to be bringing WAR to Wallin, be ready for my penultimate showreel knockout.”

Otto Wallin stated: “I think this is a great fight at the right time for me. I’m looking forward to fighting in Manchester, and I know I’m walking into the Lion’s Den, but I will be ready for it and ready to get the victory!”

This massive event’s chief support is a domestic Light-Heavyweight clash between two former world title challengers, Willy Hutchinson 18-2 (13) and Zach Parker 25-1 (18).

Also featuring is a British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight clash between Jack Rafferty, 24-0 (15) and Kane Gardner, 17-3 (7). Masood Abdulah, 11-0 (7) will defend his Commonwealth title against Manchester’s Zak Miller 14-1 (3), while Stoke’s favourite Nathan Heaney, 18-1-1 (6) will make his return to the ring.

Promoter Frank Warren added: “This is a heavyweight fight I expect to deliver in a big way. Obviously Derek needs absolutely no introductions and fully deserves such a showpiece occasion on a magnificent stage against a top class contender.

“He has stated that he wants to hit a half century of fights and that he wants one of his final two to be in Manchester, so we are delighted to make this possible for him and to stage our first promotion at the impressive Co-op Live arena, which I hope will be packed out for Derek’s 49th fight.

“Otto has been on the brink of heavyweight glory before and backs himself to return to the top table. Unfortunately, he just didn’t get going when he got his big shot at Anthony Joshua, so this presents a major opportunity for Otto to put himself back at the forefront of what is a booming division.”

“This card also features a fantastic undercard. Boxing fans are in for a real treat on February 8th

“ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” 49 RESULTS

Huntington, New York (November 25, 2024) – Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing Rockin’ Fights 49 delivered an action packed and hotly contested evening of bouts this past Saturday at The Paramount. The sold out show was packed with fans and non-stop thrilling boxing. Star Boxing once again continued its practice of delivering the best and most consistent boxing series in New York and #49 has fans already lining up to get tickets for Rockin’ Fights 50 in 2025.

RESULTS:

Wendy “The Haitian Fire” Touissant (now 16-3-0, 7 KOs), got back to his winning ways and did not disappoint in his return to The Paramount Saturday night. Touissant, the hometown Huntington favorite, continued to display the talent and physical fitness that makes him an intriguing ascending contender in the boxing world. Touissant stayed poised throughout the bout, which went the distance, leaning on his patient gameplan to deal with capable Argentinian challenger, Brian “El Capitan” Arregui (now 10-5-0, 7 KOs). Touissant’s training paid off as he was able to secure the victory by majority decision. The scores were: 80-72 by Tony Paolillo; 79-73 by Steve Weisfeld and a shocking 76-76 by Kevin Morgan.

In a special featured bout, 22-year old Italian-American prospect and newest Star Boxing fighter, Micky Scala (now 11-0-0 6 KOs), showed talent and tenacity in remaining undefeated in his Rockin’ Fights debut. In a competitive bout, Scala relied on his reach and fast combinations to score throughout the fight, ultimately earning a victory by unanimous decision (60-54, 59-55, 60-54) over Luis “Conrazon De Oro” Caraballo Ramos of Puerto Rico. (now 7-6-1 7 KO’s).

David “King David” Malul (now 2-0, 2KOs), once again had The Paramount crowd energized and mesmerized for his second professional fight. Malul gave the raucous crowd another memorable moment when he uncorked three devastatingly powerful blows to the head of his opponent, Zachary “Mr. Sippi Babi” Davis to secure the third round knockout.

In a rough and tough back and forth battle, Harley “Heavy Hands” Burke (now 9-0-0, 7 KOs) defeated Tevin Terrance by a very close unanimous decision (58-55, 58-55, 57-56), remaining undefeated. Following an early first round knockdown of Burke by Terrance’s acclaimed left hook, Burke settled in and the rest of the fight was an exciting and close matchup. The two combatants exchanged blows all fight, with neither fighter seeming to gain the upper hand. Ultimately, the judges ruled for Burke, keeping the Irish American’s perfect record unscathed.

Albanian pride was soaring as John “The Warrior” Gjini (now 13-0-0, 12 KOs) dissected his opponent, Luis Porozo (now 18-12-0, 9 KOs), in a dominating TKO win. Porozo came into the bout as the much more seasoned fighter, amassing 29 career fights to Gjini’s 12. Porozo took the first round but it was Gjini thereafter as his fast hands and quickness broke down the tough Ecuadorian native. Gjini secured the fourth round referee stoppage and TKO victory.

The opening bout of this stacked card saw a gritty bout between Long Island native Frank “Magic” Monaco (now 2-0-1) and Victor “El Patron” Pradis (now 2-2-1). The fight started the night with a good matchup. Monaco and Pradis were fighting in close quarters and neither fighter gave the other much room to breathe. Pradis seemed intent on attacking Monaco’s body throughout the fight, while Monaco stayed poised waiting for his openings. In the ultimate tossup decision, the judges scored it a split draw (38-38, 39-37, 37-39).

Fans can watch the entire fight card on StarBoxing.TV on demand. Also, the show will be replayed on YES Network on dates to be announced by Star Boxing later this week.

Nisa Rodriguez to return to ring Dec. 17th on “Holiday Fight Night 3” at Sony Hall in Times Square

NEW YORK CITY (November 25, 2024) – Little did New York City middleweight Nisa Rodriguez (2-0) know when she booked a European vacation for her family that it would be one week prior to her return to the ring.

Rated No. 9 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), promotional free agent Rodriguez will fight in her first scheduled six-round match against Melody Popravak (2-1-1, 1 KO) on Tuesday, December 17, at Sony Hall in Times Square, on a show presented by Boxing Insider Promotions.

It’s been difficult for Rodriguez’ manager, NYC-based lawyer Keith Sullivan, to secure opponents for Nisa, largely because of her rich amateur pedigree, as well as her weight class limitations in terms of quality opponents. In fact, she had to fight at super middleweight in her two pro fights to date, although she will take on middleweight Popravak next month, in her natural weight class.

Nisa is also an eight-time New York Daily News Golden Gloves, six-time Metro Championships, two-time Empire State, and Caribbean and Central Americano gold medalist. A former schoolteacher, Rodriguez has been a NYC police officer for two years, stationed citywide for the rapid response unit, specializing in any crimes that involve adolescents and supporting families of homicides. In addition to being a fulltime police officer and pro boxer, if that were not enough, Nisa works with youths in a program at Cops & Kids Gym in Brooklyn, and she’s married with three children.

Because of the aforementioned difficulties finding time to book a family vacation and figuring she wouldn’t fight again in 2024; Nisa booked a trip to Europe only to shortly find-out that she had an offer to fight at home on Dec. 17. Rather than cancel her vacation and attempt to find another time she and her family could go away together, they’re all heading overseas and just like she does in the ring, Nisa will properly adjust to the situation.

“I was hoping to fight again this year,” she explained, “and I kept pushing our vacation off. I had nothing (fights) in December and my birthday will be while we’re away. We’re a humble family, saved up, and we are still going to Europe. So, I’ll get in my roadwork in Paris, and my husband (Wilson Hernandez) and son (Emerson Pina) will be my technical sparring partners. My husband fights in the Master’s Division and we’re about the same weight. My son is a good amateur boxer, only 15, but he’s strong, 6’ 1” and 145 pounds. I’m not his coach, though. We have a parent-child dynamic, and unless he asks for boxing advice from me, I don’t offer any.

“From being a member of the Puerto Rico Team in the amateurs, I know some fighters over there (in Europe), and I will have gyms to train at and spar in. Most of the week we’ll be in Paris, but we’re going to try and go to Rome, too. I really want to see The Colosseum because boxers are like modern-day gladiators.”

Her manager Keith Sullivan added: “I was prepared to take her out of the fight, but she said, ‘No, I’ll stay in shape. We’re a boxing family; my son and husband will spar, work the mitts and help keep my conditioning on point.’ “Nisa excels at everything she does, so I backed down and contracted to go forward with the fight. I would never agree to this for any fighter not named Nisa Rodriguez.”

Rodriguez is happy to finally be fighting as a middleweight and unconcerned about the two additional rounds for her first scheduled six-round bout.

“I feel that the time fighting as an elite amateur prepared me because we fought four 2-minute rounds, the same in the pros, but I always trained hard and felt I could have fought longer,” Rodriguez noted. “Two-minute rounds go really fast. I like to counterpunch and move around the ring, but now I can sit down more to punch because of the two extra rounds from what I’ve been accustomed to. I’m happy to be fighting as a middleweight, but I always try to come in light anyway.”

Tickets are on sale and may be purchased online at https://www.ticketweb.com/event/boxing-insider-fight-night-sony-hall-tickets/14011593.

Sullivan also manages 3-time, 2-division world champion Miyo Yoshida (17-5), undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor (4-0, 2 KOs), in addition to co-managing world-rated (IBF & WBA #6, WBC #14) welterweight contender Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-0, 11 KOs), the reigning WBA Continental Champion from Limerick, Ireland. Sullivan co-manages Donovan with former world middleweight champion Andy Lee, who is also Donovan’s head trainer.

HIGHLY COVETED TEAM GB OLYMPIAN PAT BROWN SIGNS WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

Team GB Olympian Pat Brown has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will make his highly anticipated professional debut at Cruiserweight in 2025, live worldwide on DAZN.

Manchester’s Brown, who will be trained by Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis at the V.I.P Gym in Astley alongside Matchroom stablemates Jack Catterall, Cameron Vuong and Conner Tudsbury, broke into the Great Britain set-up in 2022 with his heavy-handed, all-action style.

The 25-year-old, born and raised in Sale, began his boxing journey at Sale West Amateur Boxing Club – the same club where British legend Ricky Hatton honed is craft – after discovering his love for boxing as a hyperactive seven-year-old.

By 2019, Brown was a two-time North West Champion. He joined the famous Moss Side Fire Station boxing club in 2021 at the age of 20, winning the Heavyweight Title at the England Boxing National Amateur Championships that year.

Manchester United fanatic Brown was awarded a place on the GB Boxing Podium Squad the following year and won his second National Championships, establishing himself as one of the most exciting talents coming out of the GB set-up.

Now managed by Sam Jones, Brown secured his place at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after defeating Poland’s Mateusz Berenicki in March earlier this year. He exited the games in the opening around against Brazil’s Pan American Games and World Championship silver medallist Keno Machado.

“Since meeting with Eddie and Frank for the first time, it was clear that our visions aligned,” said Brown. “Matchroom were always my first choice, but you have to weigh up all of your options. After really exciting discussions about the future, it was a no brainer to go with them.

“They are at the pinnacle of boxing and have a great stable of fighters, and I am excited to be the next generation to dominate over the next decade. I believe I have the best team next to me in Eddie and Frank to help me achieve this.

“There’s some huge fights to be made and my dreams have always been to sell out arenas, to bring back them Ricky Hatton days in Manchester. That’s what always gets me going, to have some good wars and good boxing fights. Watch this space, I’ll be coming for it all.”

“This is a signing that I’m incredibly excited about,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “All of us at Matchroom truly believe that Pat Brown has it in him to become a star of British Boxing.

“With Pat’s all-action aggressive style inside the ring and down to earth personality outside of the ring I’m confident that he can bring back the massive nights to Manchester. He’s an incredibly popular young man and has the ability to sell-out arenas in Manchester and beyond in years to come.

“This is going to be a special journey, and Pat has a very experienced team around him in Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis. We can’t wait to get things underway with Pat in 2025. Watch him fight live around the world on DAZN.”

“I’m delighted and excited to get the deal done between Matchroom and Pat,” Sam Jones. “Pat is without a doubt the biggest signing coming out the Team GB squad, so this is a huge coup for Matchroom.

“Pat has a style that’s going to bring back the glory days to Manchester and British Boxing. He’s a down to earth young man that a lot of people will relate to. I’m so excited to get this journey started.”

KAMBOSOS JR SIGNS CO-PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM

George Kambosos Jr. has signed a co-promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom, DiBella Entertainment Inc. and Ferocious Promotions.

The former Lightweight ruler has confirmed he will move up to 140lbs and start his bid to become a two-weight World champion in early 2025, in an event to be announced soon.

Kambosos (21-3 10 KOs) shot to fame by ripping Teofimo Lopez’s World titles from him with a stunning victory over in New York in November 2021, flooring the champion in the opening round en-route to handing the Brooklyn man his sole defeat to date.

The Australian star then hosted WBC champion Devin Haney in his homeland in undisputed battles in June and December of 2022, firstly packing out the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and then rematching the American at the Rod Laver Arena in the same city, with Haney prevailing on points on both occasions.

‘Ferocious’ got back to winning ways with victory over IBO champion Maxi Hughes in Oklahoma in July 2023, before reaching out for greatness once again by challenging Ukrainian modern great Vasiliy Lomachenko for the IBF title in front of another huge crowd at the RAC Arena in Perth in May.

The 31 year old now adds his star power to a stacked 140-pound division, and will be a keen observer when fellow countryman Liam Paro defends his IBF title against Richardson Hitchins in Puerto Rico on December, live worldwide on DAZN, and Kambosos is itching to get back into the ring and take his first steps on the road to two-weight World glory.

“I’m excited to be aligning myself to Matchroom Boxing and to be signed in a co-promotional three-way agreement with my long-time promoter DiBella Entertainment Inc and Ferocious Promotions,” said Kambosos.

“I have had great success and history when promoted on Matchroom shows, winning my World Title eliminator bout in the UK against Lee Selby and most notably and memorably, my victory against Teofimo at Madison Square Garden, NYC to become the Undisputed Lightweight Champion of the World in the 135-pound division.

“I am officially announcing that I will be moving up to the 140-pound division, and being signed to Matchroom will give me my continued success and the legacy I want to leave in the sport of boxing.”

“I’m delighted to welcome George to the team,” said Eddie Hearn. “George’s win over Teofimo ripped up the script and showed that George was a man for the big occasion, and he’s proved to be a massive draw in Australia and one of the real driving forces behind boxing’s rapid rise Down Under.

“The 140lbs division is littered with big names and great potential clashes, and adding George to that mix only raises the levels – with a potential fight against Liam Paro a real mouth-watering prospect, if Liam can get the win in a great fight with Richardson on December 7.”

“I’m glad that I was able to make a deal with my old mate Eddie to work with George Kambosos Jr. and Ferocious Promotions. Throughout his career, George has been a warrior who never shies away from a challenge and now he wants to test himself against the top fighters at Junior-Welterweight. Matchroom works with the best at 140 pounds, including George’s countryman Liam Paro, and, like DiBella Entertainment, is heavily invested in Australia. This is a natural partnership,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment.

MOST VALUABLE PROMOTIONS SIGNS FIRST CANADIAN ATHLETE, TOP-RANKED LIGHTWEIGHT BOXER “PRINCE” LUCAS BAHDI

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) has announced today that “Prince” Lucas Bahdi (18-0, 15 KOs) will be the newest signee to MVP’s growing roster of world-class fighters. Bahdi, MVP’s first Canadian signee, is a top-ranked lightweight by both the IBF and WBA and recently proved himself among the best title contenders in the lightweight division when he scored a knockout-of-the-year contender win over H2O Sylve on the main card of Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in July 2024. Most recently, Bahdi further cemented his reputation as a rising force in the division by following up his win over Sylve with a decision victory over previously undefeated Armando Casamonica (14-1, 3 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight bout, featured on the undercard of MVP’s historic Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Bahdi, born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, has gone undefeated since making his professional debut in mid-2019, winning his first 11 fights by knockout. The 30-year-old top contender had unanimous decision wins against Diego Fabian Eligio and Diego Andrade Chavez in 2022 before resuming his knockout streak. In May 2023, Bahdi defeated Jesus Amparan to claim the IBF North American Lightweight title.

“Signing with an innovative promoter, who puts fighters first, is one of the goals I’ve been working towards since I turned professional in 2019,” said “Prince” Lucas Bahdi. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Most Valuable Promotions team because I know that Jake Paul’s vision for boxers’ careers inside the ring and outside the ring will take me to where I want to be… a world champion and a star. Fighting on the Paul vs. Tyson undercard was just the beginning. I’m excited to keep showing the world what I’ve got.”

“Lucas Bahdi is an exceptional talent and a relentless competitor who embodies everything MVP stands for—passion, dedication, and doing the unexpected,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “With his impressive knockout power and undefeated record, Lucas has already made waves in the lightweight division, and we’re excited to work with him as he continues his journey toward becoming a world champion and global star. We look forward to Lucas Bahdi headlining an MVP event in Canada in 2025.”

Bahdi joins MVP’s elite roster of superstar athletes and up-and-coming stars including international superstar Jake “El Gallo” Paul, boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, prolific top boxing prospect H2O Sylve, MVP’S first homegrown champion, the new WBO Super Middleweight Champion, Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green, multi-talented megastar Javon “Wanna” Walton, and India’s most successful professional boxer Neeraj Goyat

Founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, with the mission to give athletes creative control, MVP works to identify, grow, and maximize return for its talent partners and events. Together, Paul and Bidarian have architected Jake Paul’s meteoric rise in combat sports. In 2021, MVP signed one of the most decorated Hispanic athletes of all time, Amanda Serrano, who has since achieved historic milestones, including becoming Puerto Rico’s first-ever undisputed champion and competing in the first unified women’s championship fight contested over 12 three-minute rounds—the men’s championship standard—held in October 2023. Her previous historic clash against Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden in 2022 earned recognition as Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year, The Ring’s Event of the Year, and was further nominated for Event of the Year by Sports Business Journal. The event marked a pivotal point in women’s sports history as the first time women have headlined a main event at the world-renowned venue in New York City.

MVP’s recent collaboration with Netflix broke records with the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson mega-event, which is now the most-streamed sporting event ever, peaking at 65 million concurrent streams globally, with 38 million in the U.S. The event drew an average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million live viewers globally, which grew to 125 million (Live+1) over the weekend. Co-headlining the historic card, Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 became the most-watched professional women’s sports event in U.S. history, with an AMA of 47 million viewers domestically and 74 million globally. The event also ranked as the #1 title on Netflix in 78 countries, including the U.S., UK, Brazil, and India, and trended as the #1 topic worldwide on X during the event. Joe Hand Promotions reported that over 1 million viewers watched from 6,000 bars and restaurants in the U.S., breaking commercial distribution records.

The stakes will be high and both fighters will be in great shape, as the winner will be an interim unified light heavyweight champion, as well as the final mandatory for the WBC and WBA titles. T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will be packed for this Mexico vs. Cuba matchup for the ages.”

“These are two great fighters going against each other in their primes, what could be better?” said Luis DeCubas Sr. of Warriors Boxing. “This is a fight Morrell has wanted for years and we’re very happy that these two great young guys are fighting each other now. It’s gonna be the aggressive boxer in Benavidez against the boxer-puncher in Morrell. It could very easily turn into a Hagler vs. Hearns type of fight, because both guys can punch and aren’t afraid to trade.”

**DAVID BENAVIDEZ VS. DAVID MORRELL JR.**

The two-time super middleweight world champion David “El Monstro” Benavidez will step in to face the toughest opponent of his career in the undefeated Cuban sensation David Morrell Jr. in the 12-round main event that will be contested for both Benavidez’s Interim WBC Light Heavyweight Title and Morrell’s WBA Light Heavyweight Championship belt.

The 27-year-old undefeated Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) followed up a standout 2023 campaign by moving up to light heavyweight in 2024 with a dominant unanimous decision victory over the former world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June that earned him his interim title. Benavidez’s 2023 began with him besting longtime rival Caleb Plant via unanimous decision in a March slugfest before stopping the previously unbeaten two-division champion Demetrius Andrade in six rounds in November. A Phoenix-native who now trains in Miami, Benavidez became the youngest-ever 168-pound world champion at just 20-years-old when he defeated Ronald Gavril by split decision for the vacant WBC title in 2017. When he was 15 years old, Benavidez went from weighing 250 pounds to a boxing prodigy under the watchful eye of his father and trainer, Jose, Sr., and his brother and veteran contender Jose Jr., as he famously held his own in sparring against middleweight champions Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin as a teenager. Benavidez rode a string of six straight knockout victories heading into the bout against Plant, including KOs of former world champions Anthony Dirrell and David Lemieux.

“I can’t wait for this challenge on February 1 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,” said Benavidez. “David Morrell Jr. is a great boxer, but come fight night, I will be the better man and show the world why I’m an elite fighter. I always take on the toughest opponents that are willing to step into the ring with me, because I know that I have to prove myself each and every time. When that bell rings, everyone will see that I’m the best fighter in the world.”

A Cuban-native who came to Minneapolis to begin his pro career in 2019, Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) has quickly shown off the talents that made him a standout in Cuba’s storied amateur scene. The 26-year-old also debuted in the light heavyweight division this year after an extended and successful run at super middleweight, defeating Radivoje Kalajdzic by unanimous decision in August to capture his WBA title. Morrell had scored seven-straight knockouts before that fight, including a violent first-round stoppage of Olympic Bronze medalist Yamaguchi Falcao in April 2023 and a second-round destruction of Sena Agbeko in December of that same year. During his super middleweight run, Morrell won an interim title by dominating the then-unbeaten Lennox Allen in August 2020 in just his third pro fight. Now trained in Stafford, Texas by the legendary trainer Ronnie Shields, Morrell will finally get the opportunity to face a top-flight opponent after calling for the opportunity against Benavidez ever since he arrived stateside and began his professional boxing journey.

“This is the fight the fans have been waiting for, and I’m ready to give them a show they’ll never forget,” said Morrell. “This is two undefeated fighters in their prime, stepping into the ring and giving everything we’ve got. That’s what boxing is all about. Everyone should be getting this pay-per-view, because you’re going to see something special. I believe this will go down as one of the most memorable fights in boxing history and I’m excited to make it happen. I’m knocking David Benavidez out!.”

**BRANDON FIGUEROA VS. STEPHEN FULTON JR.**

The 12-round co-main event will see the much-anticipated rematch of a memorable 2021 clash as WBC Featherweight World Champion Brandon Figueroa takes on former unified world champion Stephen Fulton Jr. Their first showdown was a super bantamweight world title unification that pitted the relentless forward attack of Figueroa against the slick skills of Fulton, with the bout ending in a majority decision for Fulton (116-112 twice and 114-114).

The 27-year-old Figueroa (25-1-1, 19 KOs) was recently elevated to world champion after former champion Rey Vargas was declared champion in recess. Figueroa won the Interim WBC Featherweight Title in a 2023 Fight of the Year contender that saw him score a unanimous decision over former champion Mark Magsayo. He returned this May to successfully defend his interim title with a ninth-round knockout of former champion Jessie Magdaleno, increasing his winning streak to three straight since the first Fulton fight. A native of Weslaco, Texas, Figueroa’s relentless pressure and youthful enthusiasm helped him become the first person to defeat former two-division champion Luis Nery in their May 2021 championship clash, as he stopped Nery with a body shot in round seven. Figueroa added to his family’s legacy by capturing the WBC 122-pound world title against Nery, joining his brother Omar Figueroa Jr., who previously held the WBC Lightweight World Championship.

“Training is going great and I’m very excited to return on another big fight card against a championship caliber opponent,” said Figueroa. “I expect Fulton to be at his best, but I will go into that ring very prepared to convince everyone who really won the first time. I don’t plan on letting it go to the judges this time around.”

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Pa., Fulton (22-1, 8 KOs) made a successful featherweight debut in September, rising from an early knockdown to defeat all-action contender Carlos Castro by decision. It was Fulton’s first fight since a July 2023 challenge that saw him travel to Japan to take on undefeated Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue, eventually dropping the road contest in round eight. In his previous 14 professional fights before facing Inoue, the 30-year-old had established himself on pound-for-pound lists by beating eight previously undefeated fighters. Fulton first became a world champion by taking the super bantamweight title from Angelo Leo in January 2021, before unifying against Figueroa. Trained in his hometown, Fulton has displayed sublime boxing skills that have allowed him to dominate opponents of varying styles and control fights from start to finish.

“I’m feeling strong and ready to return to the ring on a wonderful pay-per-view card to win my third world title in my second division,” said Fulton. “I expect Figueroa to make it a rough fight, just like he did in the first fight. But everyone saw what happened the first time, so I predict I’ll become three-time world champion and a two-division champion come fight night. Whatever I have to do to get my hand raised, I’ll be ready.”

**ISAAC CRUZ VS. ANGEL FIERRO**

One of the most popular active fighters from Mexico, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz will return to action to face the hard-charging Angel Fierro in a super lightweight duel that marks Cruz’s first appearance in the ring since he lost his WBA Super Lightweight World Championship to Jose Valenzuela via split-decision in August.

Buoyed on by his passionate fan base, Cruz (26-3-1, 18 KOs) became a world champion in March as he hurt Rolando Romero badly in round one before eventually ending the fight in round eight via TKO to claim the WBA title. A native of Mexico City, Cruz shot up the rankings in 2020, announcing his presence with an electrifying first-round knockout over veteran Diego Magdaleno in October before adding dominant decisions over Francisco Vargas and Matias Romero. This rise led to the 26-year-old challenging undefeated superstar Gervonta Davis in December 2021, a fight that saw Cruz lose by decision to become just the second fighter to see the final bell against Davis. Trained by his father Isaac Cruz Sr., Cruz also owns stoppage wins over former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa and veteran contender Eduardo Ramirez, in addition to a 12-round decision over the then-unbeaten Giovanni Cabrera.

“I’m very happy to be back in the ring on February 1 and in the fight capital of the world in Las Vegas,” said Cruz. “I’m facing a real Mexican warrior like myself and I’m excited to give fans the type of fight that they love. It will be a lot more entertaining than my last fight, when my opponent ran all night long and the judges made a terrible decision. This time, I will not leave it up to the judges, because I’m going for the knockout. Fierro and myself are going to show what Mexican style is all about and go toe-to-toe until someone gets knocked out.”

Originally from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Fierro (22-2-2, 17 KOs) now fights out of San Diego and has made a name for himself with his aggressive style and power punching prowess. The 26-year-old has fought professionally since 2015 and was undefeated in his first 17 outings. He announced his presence as a world contender in 2021 with a career-best victory as he rose from the canvas to stop former world champion Alberto Machado in round six. Most recently, Fierro had a three-fight winning streak snapped when he lost a June decision against Alfredo Santiago, with the only other loss of Fierro’s career coming via split-decision in January 2020 against Alex Martin. February 1 will mark Fierro’s third career fight stateside, and his first since a majority draw against Juan Carlos Burgos in March 2022.

“Ever since I turned professional, my dream was to fight in Las Vegas,” said Fierro. “Spending time training with my mentor and idol Erik Morales really taught me how to fight under pressure and now I have the perfect opponent to display those skills against in ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. I’m from Tijuana and we love facing fighters from Mexico City, it’s a tremendous rivalry. On February 1, the fans will be the winners, because I won’t take a step back. I’m coming to knock out ‘Pitbull’ and prove who is the best 140-pounder in Mexico.”

**JESUS RAMOS JR. VS. JEISON ROSARIO**

Rising Mexican star Jesus “Mono” Ramos Jr. will look to make it back-to-back victories when he faces his most accomplished opponent to date in the former unified world champion Jeison Rosario, as they meet in a 10-round middleweight fight that opens the pay-per-view action.

After coming up on the wrong end of a contested decision against top contender Erickson Lubin in September 2023, Ramos (21-1, 17 KOs) returned to the ring in style this May, stopping Johan Gonzalez in round nine to reaffirm his status as a world championship contender. A native of Casa Grande, Ariz., Ramos had worked his way up the rankings by defeating a slew of contenders including Brian Mendoza, Javier Molina, Vladimir Hernandez and an emphatic stoppage of the then-unbeaten Joey Spencer. Trained by his father Jesus Sr., and the nephew of veteran contender Abel, the 23-year-old Ramos entered the Lubin fighting having stopped seven of his last 10 opponents.

“I’m grateful to be back in the ring on February 1,” said Ramos. “I’m facing an experienced opponent in Jeison Rosario who’s got nothing to lose, and that makes him dangerous. He wants to get back in the mix and I’m preparing to make sure that doesn’t happen. It’s exciting to have this platform to display my talent and show how much I’ve grown since my last fight. This is going to be a great card from top to bottom and I can’t wait to take my place on that big stage.”

Having faced a who’s-who of top contenders throughout his career, Rosario (24-4-2, 18 KOs) will once again go toe-to-toe with a highly touted foe when he takes on Ramos on February 1. Born in the Dominican Republic and fighting out of Miami, Rosario captured the WBA and IBF 154-pound belts by stopping Julian Williams in his hometown in one of 2020’s biggest upsets, earning the title opportunity by defeating a litany of contenders including Jamontay Clark, Marcos Hernandez and Jorge Cota. After beating Williams, Rosario would go on to lose a three-belt unification against Jermell Charlo in 2020 before also challenging top contenders Erickson Lubin and Brian Mendoza. Most recently, Rosario squared off against former unified champion Jarrett Hurd in August as the two fought to a split-draw.

“I’m very thankful to my team for getting me this opportunity and I feel blessed to be in this position,” said Rosario. “With Bob Santos in my corner, I’m extremely motivated to get back on top. Ramos is a good fighter, but I’ve faced the best in this sport and I’m going to use all that experience to get my hand raised on February 1.”

SALITA PROMOTIONS SIGNS BROOKLYN HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECT PRYCE TAYLOR

DETROIT (Nov. 19, 2024) – Salita Promotions has announced the signing of undefeated heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor, a former amateur standout who, like his new promoter Dmitriy Salita, learned the sweet science in New York City’s Brooklyn borough.

A professional for just under a year, the 28-year-old Taylor (4-0, 2 KOs) will be featured on the next edition of “BIG TIME BOXING USA”, boxing’s premier talent developmental series, in Flint, Mich., on Thursday, December 12, airing live on global streaming service DAZN. The fight card is already loaded with some of boxing’s top prospects, including Michigan’s Ardreal “Bossman” Holmes Jr.Joey SpencerDa’Velle “Hitman 2.0” Smith and Leon Lawson III, and is arguably Salita’s best since the BIG TIME BOXING USA series launched in February.

*Tickets for the event at Dort Financial Center are on sale now and can be purchased online or in-person at the Dort Financial Center Box Office.

Taylor is managed by Keith Sullivan and trained by Benny Roman and hopes to continue the tradition of Brooklyn-born heavyweight world champions such as Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Shannon Briggs and Floyd Patterson.

“I have been very impressed by what I’ve seen from Pryce in both the amateurs and in his first four professional bouts,” said Salita, who adds Taylor to a formidable stable of champions and contenders including Claressa Shields, Shohjahon Ergashev, Jermaine Franklin, Joshua Pagan and Vladimir Shishkin. “Pryce has a great chance to compete for a world title in the near future. He has all the skill and physical attributes to become the next great American heavyweight champion. It will be an exciting journey, and we are proud that he has entrusted Salita Promotions to help guide him to the top.”

The 6-foot-4 Taylor is a former college basketball player who took up boxing at the age of 20 when he was introduced to the sport by members of the Cops & Kids Boxing Club in Brooklyn. Taylor quickly learned the craft and imposed his will in amateur competitions, building a record of 60 wins, 11 losses. He won two New York Golden Gloves titles and was the heavyweight runner-up four times in annual USA National Championship tournaments. In 2020, Taylor narrowly missed qualifying to represent his country at the Tokyo Olympic Games, falling just short at U.S.A. Boxing team trials in Louisiana.

“I’m very happy to have signed with Salita Promotions,” said Taylor. “My manager and I reviewed several offers, and we believe that working with Salita is a great opportunity and in my best interest. I’m still learning and developing so it’s helpful to have a promoter who was an accomplished fighter, who knows the path to the top. I can’t wait to get started, get on big shows, and into main events. I’m excited for the future.”

Sullivan added: “Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Pryce Taylor. Salita Promotions made it clear that they believe in Pryce’s ability and talent. I’m confident that Dmitriy and his team will help Pryce’s career reach great heights. We’re pleased to welcome them to the team.”

Taylor has worked with top heavyweights and served as a sparring partner to such notables as Jared Anderson, Filip Hrgovic, Jarrrell Miller, Otto Wallin and Brandon Glanton.

Adams defends his WBA Continental North America belt against Katzourakis

Brandon Adams will make the first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental North American super welterweight title this Saturday night when he takes on Andreas Katzourakis at Corey Studios at Corey Tower in Atlanta, Georgia.

The American will take on the Greek in the main event of the Overtime evening in what looks to be a very interesting matchup due to both fighters’ records.

Adams, 35 years old, has an extensive career and has fought against the likes of Shane Mosley Jr., Jermall Charlo, Serhii Bohachuk, among others. He has just defeated Francisco Veron to win the regional crown of the organization and will now go to his first defense.

Katzourakis is 27 years old and has made his entire career in the United States. He is undefeated and will have his most important fight so far, which means a test for his career and a great opportunity to reach another level in this sport.

Adams comes in with 25 wins, 3 losses and 16 knockouts, while Katzourakis has 14 wins and 10 knockouts.

Matsuda and Rupprecht unify in Germany this Saturday

World Boxing Association (WBA) light minimum champion Eri Matsuda will face Tina Rupprecht in a three-crown unification fight this Saturday at the Olympiastuetzpunkt in Heidelberg, Germany.

The bout will also have at stake Matsuda’s WBO belt and the IBF belt, which is held by Rupprecht. The winner will inevitably emerge as the best in the division, which has become increasingly competitive over the years.

It will be a difficult challenge for the Japanese fighter, as it will be her first defense of the black and gold crown, as well as the first time she will be fighting outside her native country, which represents a challenge for any fighter’s career.

In her most recent fight, the 30-year-old Matsuda defeated Yuko Kuroki to take the 102-pound crown from the pioneering body in a great performance that shocked the boxing world.

She will now face Rupprecht, a long-time champion in the light minimum in the past who lost her world crown to Seniesa Estrada in 2023. After that loss, she decided to move down a category and was crowned by defeating Fabiana Bytyqi in January this year, so this fight will mean the consolidation in this new category.

Matsuda has a record of 7 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 1 knockout, while Rupprecht has 13 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 3 knockouts.

Stanionis and Giyasov reached an agreement and the purse bid  is called off

The teams of Eimantas Stanionis and Shakhram Giyasov informed the World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee that they reached an agreement to make the mandatory fight and the bidding that was scheduled for this afternoon was officially suspended.

The pioneer body had scheduled the purse bid after not having received a response from the parties involved, but within hours of taking place, they informed that the agreement is ahead of schedule.

The contracts and details about the fight between Stanionis, welterweight champion, and Giyasov, mandatory challenger, will be sent in due time to the committee with the confirmation of the date, venue and other related elements.

LAUREN PRICE MBE MAKES FIRST WORLD TITLE DEFENCE ON DECEMBER 14TH IN LIVERPOOL AS WELSH CHAMPION LOOKS TO SET UP ALL-BRITISH UNIFICATION CLASH WITH WELTERWEIGHT RIVAL NATASHA JONAS

LIVERPOOL, UK (November 19, 2024) – Lauren Price MBE will make the first defence of her world titles on Saturday, December 14th at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool as the Welsh champion looks to set up an all-British unification clash with welterweight rival Natasha Jonas, who headlines the Collision Course fight night.

Price defends her WBA, IBO and Ring Magazine World Welterweight Titles against unbeaten Colombian contender Bexcy Mateus on the same night Jonas attempts to unify the IBF and WBC World Titles versus Ivana Habazin as part of BOXXER’s ‘Collision Course’ fight night, available to watch live and exclusive on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Peacock in the USA.

TICKETS ON SALE NOW VIA BOXXER.COM

Price MBE (7-0, 1 KO) made history with a punch perfect performance to defeat former undisputed world welterweight ruler Jessica McCaskill in front of her home fans in Cardiff in May.

The first Welsh boxer to win Olympic gold, Price wrote her name in the record books again by becoming the country’s first female world champion in just her seventh professional fight. The 30-year-old from Ystrad Mynach, who is yet to lose a round as a professional, will now make the first defence of her world titles as she sets her sights on welterweight supremacy.

Mateus (7-0, 6 KOs), ranked #5 with the WBA, is undefeated in the professional ranks having won all but one of her seven fights by knockout. The 29-year-old from Bogota, fighting outside of her native Colombia for the first time, will now get her first shot at world glory and she aims to dethrone Price and position herself on top of the welterweight pile.

Lauren Price said: “I’m excited to be out defending my belts to finish what has been a big year for me. I have full respect for Mateus. I’ll prove I’m the best in the division and I won’t let anything, or anyone stand in my way of becoming undisputed.”

BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom said: “It’s a huge night for the women’s welterweight division with three world champions in action. Natasha Jonas is back in her hometown for a must-win unification fight against Ivana Habazin and Lauren Price defends her world titles against unbeaten contender Bexcy Mateus. The battle for undisputed is on. If Natasha and Lauren both win on December 14th, it will set the stage for a massive ‘Battle Of Britain’ world title unification match up next year.”

There is reason to celebrate as BOXXER delivers a Christmas cracker to end the year. Alongside world championship clashes for Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price, fight fans can look forward to a stacked undercard full of drama and entertainment.

Ireland’s undefeated Stephen McKenna (15-0, 14 KOs) will go toe-to-toe with English champion Lee Cutler (14-1, 7 KOs) in a mouth-watering super welterweight showdown for the WBC International Silver Title.

McKenna wowed fans with a three-round war against Joe Laws last time out at Oakwell Stadium in Barnsley in August. Both men hit the canvas in the first round before McKenna piled on the pressure, dropping Laws three more times to maintain his unbeaten record via third-round stoppage.

English Cruiserweight Champion Viddal Riley (11-0, 6 KOs) returns to action having recovered from a rib injury that has kept him out of the ring since a career best win over Mikael Lawal in March. Riley will be aiming to shake off the ring rust as he targets big name opponents in the new year.

Unbeaten Chorley super middleweight Mark Jeffers (18-0, 5 KOs) scored an explosive fifth-round knockout win over Darren Johnstone in May and will be looking to bring more drama to Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre as he goes in search of his nineteenth professional win.

Cheshire super welterweight Mason Cartwright (20-4-1, 8 KOs), a former two-time British Title challenger from Ellesmere Port, will be counting on local support as he gets back on the title trail.

Having signed a promotional deal with BOXXER, local star Frankie Stringer (8-0, 1 KO) can claim his third victory of 2024 when he returns in front of his home fans in Liverpool. The 23-year-old lightweight is a product of the city’s renowned Rotunda ABC and is managed by former world champion Liam Smith.

This event is presented in association with official partners Betfred, HELL Energy, That Prize Guy and Riyadh Season.

TOKYO – November 18, 2024 – Hard-hitting boxing superstar “King” Ryan Garcia will make a special return to the ring and bring his one-of-a-kind all-action style overseas for an end-of-year attraction as RIZIN and FANMIO present a special exhibition showdown against Japanese kickboxing sensation Rukiya Anpo on Monday, December 30 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT (U.S. date and time) live from Tokyo, Japan.

The event is co-promoted by RIZIN and FANMIO, and available worldwide on FANMIO PPV, excluding Japan. End-of-year combat sports have a proud and storied history in Japan, with huge events taking place around New Year’s Eve annually. Garcia vs. Anpo will add to that much-celebrated tradition as FANMIO helps bring it to worldwide audiences with one of America’s biggest boxing stars, Garcia.

This matchup will see Garcia go up against the biggest and strongest opponent of his career in the highly-acclaimed kickboxing champion Anpo, who announced his presence on the big stage with a sensational performance against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in a July exhibition. Now entering the squared circle once again, Anpo can cement his place in Japanese combat sports history against the internationally-recognized social media superstar Garcia, who’s always backed up the talk that made him world famous with skill and passion in the ring.

The fascinating contrast of styles will be fought at 153-pounds, with full boxing rules implemented across eight two-minute rounds.

“I’m looking forward to knocking Anpo out for trying to knock out the legend Manny Pacquiao,” said Ryan Garcia. “Manny is past his prime and for him to try to knock him out rubbed me the wrong way. I will knock him out and teach him a lesson of respect.”

“I surpass Ryan in size, speed, power, everything,” said Rukiya Anpo. “If he goes into this match feeling like a party, it’s definitely going to be a beatdown. I’m going to beat the shit out of an arrogant, cocky Ryan and show America who the real bad boy is.”

Fight fans across the globe will be stunned watching these two young superstars from the US and Japan showcase their skills in an action packed boxing showdown where the results are unknown. This fight will be nothing but entertaining and expect an electrifying knockout. This is a fight you don’t want to miss.

The 26-year-old Ryan Garcia sports an outstanding record of 24-1 with 20 KOs and will compete in an exhibition for his first boxing action since his April fight against Devin Haney. A native of Victorville, California, Garcia was undefeated in his first 23 professional fights following a stellar amateur career. As he rose through the rankings, Garcia’s star exploded across social media and translated to packed venues as he became one of boxing’s true crossover stars. His lone defeat came in a 2023 mega-event against three-division champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis, as their years-long rivalry culminated in the ring with an event that sold over a million pay-per-views.

A native of Himeji, Japan who was trained in karate from an early age alongside his younger brother Riku Anpo, Rukiya Anpo has risen to superstardom in Japan with his kickboxing prowess and earned himself the “Demolition Man” moniker as he’s taken out opponent after opponent. In 2019, he became a kickboxing world champion by defeating Kaew Fairtex in back-to-back fights to capture the super lightweight title. His accolades throughout his kickboxing career also include earning second place in the 2021 Welterweight Grand Prix, in addition to 2018 and 2020 Fight of the Year and 2017 KO of the Year awards. He debuted with RIZIN in 2023, fighting Buakaw Banchamek to a draw before defeating Sho Patrick Usami.

Following his boxing debut in the special exhibition against Pacquiao, Anpo will bring his experience, size advantage and the inspiration from his legions of Japanese fans into the ring as he looks to upset the heavy-handed Garcia in his opponent’s first fight outside of North America. With two all-action styles set to meet in the center of the ring, Garcia vs. Anpo promises fireworks to close out the year.

Jonas (15-2-1, 9 KOs) will top the bill in her hometown of Liverpool in her sixth straight world title contest under the BOXXER promotional banner.

‘Miss GB’ Jonas edged a split decision victory in an epic back-and-forth battle with former unified world champion Mikaela Mayer last time out at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in January.

Undefeated in her last six fights, the 40-year-old from Toxteth will now look to cement her position at the top of the welterweight division as she bids to become a two-weight unified world champion having previously unified the WBC, WBO and IBF World Titles at super welterweight.

Habazin (23-6, 7 KOs) is the current WBC World Champion having outpointed Kinga Magyar to capture the vacant green and gold belt in April this year. The 35-year-old from Zagreb, Croatia, who has shared the ring with some of the greatest female fighters of the modern era including Cecilia Brækhus and Claressa Shields, has previously held the IBF World Welterweight Title and is also a former IBO World Middleweight Champion.

Natasha Jonas said: “I’m excited to be back with another big world title fight at home in Liverpool. To get the chance to win another world title and to unify the IBF and WBC World Titles is going to be special. Ivana Habazin is a great champion. She has won multiple world titles and fought some of the best in the world. I’m expecting a tough fight but I’m ready to prove that I’m the number one in the division. With the backing of my home fans, there’s no way I can lose.”

Ivana Habazin said: “It will be an honour for me to unify the WBC and IBF World Welterweight Titles. I previously held the IBF World Title and I look forward to winning the belt again. I have a lot of respect for Natasha. She has been a great champion throughout her career. She is one of the outstanding female fighters in the sport today and beating her will give me the recognition that I have long deserved.

“I have visited Liverpool several times and it’s my favourite city in the UK, so I’m very excited to be fighting in her hometown. While it may be winter in Liverpool on December 14th, I believe Natasha and I will bring some much needed heat and Christmas cheer to those inside the arena. I just hope the judging will be fair and Santa doesn’t come to give Natasha an early Christmas present.”

BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom said: “Natasha Jonas is back in her hometown for a huge world title unification showdown. It’s champion versus champion as Natasha goes toe-to-toe with WBC World title holder Ivana Habazin. This is a must-win fight for Natasha as she looks to cement her legacy as one of the greatest female fighters of her generation. RIVERA DEFENDS FLYWEIGHT TITLES AGAINST GONZALEZ IN PUERTO RICO

Yankiel “El Doctorcito” Rivera (6-0, 2 KOs) will take on Angel “Set it Off” Gonzalez (14-0, 7 KOs) on Saturday, December 7, at the Roberto Clemente Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, live worldwide on DAZN, with Rivera’s WBA Continental Americas and WBO Intercontinental Flyweight titles in addition to the vacant WBC Silver Flyweight title. The bout is part of a huge night of action brought to you by Matchroom Boxing and Universal Promotions, headlined by Liam Paro defending his IBF World Junior-Welterweight title against Richardson Hitchins. Rivera vs. Gonzalez is promoted in association with CES Boxing

.TICKETS FOR PARO VS. HITCHINS WILL GO ON SALE ON OCTOBER 7The 27-year-old Rivera is handily placed in the rankings at #3 with the WBA, #9 with the WBC and #11 with the WBO, and fights at home for the second time in 2024 having seen off the experienced Victor Sandoval over ten rounds in June in Manati, defending the WBA strap and adding the WBO belt.

‘Doctorcito’ will be looking to rubber stamp his World title credentials for a shot in 2025, but Gonzalez is determined to spoil those plans in the biggest fight of his career.  Gonzalez, a Hartford, Connecticut native of Puerto Rican descent, won the NABF Flyweight title in June and can catapult himself into world title contention with a victory over Rivera in December.  The 31-year-old is currently ranked #22 with the WBC.

“The goal for which I embarked on this wonderful journey full of hope is closer than ever,” said Rivera. “By now, there are no easy fights, and each fight gets me closer to that cherished and long-awaited opportunity for a World title. On December 7, I will be putting my titles on the line, but I will also be disputing the WBC Silver title.

“This victory will propel me right at the door of that World title opportunity, and there is no better place to do this than in front of my people at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.  Angel González is a dangerous opponent and has all my respect.  But I was born to become champion of the world and no one, absolutely no one, will stop me short of my destiny.

“I want to give special thanks to Matchroom, my manager Peter Kahn and my adviser Miguel Ortega, who have, without reservations, put their trust in me.  I will not let you down. See you all on December 7 where the great one’s fight: the Roberto Clemente, Puerto Rico!”

“This fight means everything to me,” said Gonzalez.  “It puts me one fight closer to my goal of becoming a World champion.  The best thing about it is, I’m fighting in my island of Puerto Rico.  I was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, but Puerto Rico will always be my home. My roots, just like my opponents’ are here.

“The Boxing energy in Puerto Rico is unparalleled and it will give me more confidence and motivation to show all my people how great I am.  I can’t wait for the opportunity.  I want to thank CES Boxing and my promoter Jimmy Burchfield, Sr. for making this happen.  I won’t let you guys down.  See you December 7.”

After being announced on the card in June, Marc Castro and Stephanie Pineiro have confirmed opponents for the night, with Castro (13-0 8 KOs) tackling Agustin Quintana (20-1-2 13 KOs) over ten rounds at Lightweight, and Pineiro (7-0 2 KOs) meeting Ogleidis Suarez (30-5-1 14 KOs) over eight rounds Welterweight.

Those clashes are part of a stacked undercard that is led by a mouth-watering Super-Featherweight clash between Henry Lebron and Christopher Diaz.

Lebron (19-0 10 KOs) returns to his homeland for the first time in five years and does so in the biggest night of his career, as the #4 in the IBF looks to press his claims for World title action in 2025 with a big win over a domestic rival and pick up the vacant IBF Latino and WBO NABO titles in the process. Diaz (29-5 19 KOs) sits pretty at #7 in the WBA, has already tasted World title action and is hungry to do so again, and ‘Pitufo’ puts his WBA Continental Latin America title on the line in a pivotal clash for the immediate futures of both.

Jalil Hackett will aim to show once again that he has no fear in the infancy of his career as he travels to Puerto Rico for a title defense. Hackett (9-0 7 KOs) was impressive in a big step up to win the WBA Continental Americas Welterweight title on his Matchroom debut against Peter Dobson in July, and ‘Major’ will defend that title in another real test against Puerto Rico’s former amateur standout Jose Roman (13-1 6 KOs)

Puerto Rico’s Juan Zayas (10-0-1 8 KOs) takes on Dominican Geraldo Valdez (16-2 11 KOs) over eight rounds at Bantamweight and Matchroom’s Puerto Rican talent William Ortiz (6-0 4 KOs) faces fellow unbeaten Puerto Rican Lionell Colon (6-0 3 KOs) over eight rounds at Super-Lightweight.
