Allen’s revival has been driven by his compelling two-fight rivalry with Johnny Fisher, which saw him claim the WBA Intercontinental title. After suffering a controversial points defeat in their first meeting in Riyadh at the end of 2024, the 34-year-old emphatically settled the score five months later, stopping Fisher in the fifth round at the Copper Box Arena.

That momentum led Allen into a high-level clash with the formidable Arslanbek Makhmudov in Sheffield, where he pushed the towering Russian over 12 rounds before coming up short on the cards. He bounced back in explosive fashion in February, needing less than a minute to dispatch Karim Berredjem in Nottingham.

Remarkably, despite a 35-fight career, Allen has fought in his hometown of Doncaster only once before, back in 2015. Now, he returns as the headline attraction at the home of Doncaster Rovers for what promises to be a landmark night.

Standing in his way is the dangerous Hrgovic, a former world title challenger who arrives in strong form. The Croatian, known as ‘El Animal’, secured back-to-back wins over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye to collect the WBO International and WBA Continental titles respectively.

The 33-year-old from Zagreb had previously been on the brink of an IBF world title opportunity before falling to Daniel Dubois in an interim title fight in 2024, with Dubois later upgraded to full champion following his victory over Anthony Joshua.

Hrgovic’s clash with Allen will mark his fourth successive bout against British opposition, underlining the scale of the challenge facing the Doncaster favourite.

“May 16 will be a magical experience for Dave Allen,” said promoter Frank Warren. “He is taking on a world-class operator in Filip Hrgovic, but he gets to do it on his own doorstep at Doncaster Rovers.

“This will be a huge occasion for the city of Doncaster and for the fans who have backed Dave throughout his career.

“Filip has got into a habit of beating British heavyweights, so this really is a ‘Dave vs Goliath’ battle.”

Matchroom Boxing is delighted to announce today that George Liddard and Giorgio Visioli have signed new, long-term contract extensions.

Liddard, 23, successfully defended his British & Commonwealth Middleweight Titles as the headliner at London’s Copper Box Arena, where he defeated Tyler Denny in a unanimous points decision.

Visioli retained his English Lightweight Championship in the co-Main Event, after the 22-year-old overcame Levi Giles in a comprehensive, unanimous points win too.

Now both have committed their futures to Eddie Hearn’s world class Matchroom Boxing stable as the pair look forward to bright careers ahead.

“I am delighted to have signed a new, long-term deal with Matchroom. Look at where they have got me in my career so far,” said Essex fighter Liddard.

MONTREAL, March 27, 2026 — WBA interim light heavyweight world champion Albert Ramirez and former British world champion Lerrone Richards will finally settle their score on June 4 in the main event of a card presented by Eye of the Tiger at the Casino de Montreal.

“Albert Ramirez holds the interim world title, but Lerrone Richards has the notoriety and reputation of being one of the most avoided boxers in England. Both have a lot to gain and a lot to lose, but we are confident that with a victory, Albert Ramirez’s name will be in all discussions for major fights with Bivol, Beterbiev, or Benavidez,” said EOTTM president Camille Estephan.

In August 2025, Albert Ramirez (22-0, 19 KOs) captured the WBA interim title by stopping top-10 contender Jerome Papellone in the 7th round of a bout held in front of more than ten thousand spectators in Libya and broadcast globally on DAZN. Ramirez was then scheduled to defend his title on February 5 against Richards before being hospitalized on an emergency basis just 24 hours before the fight.

However, Ramirez’s absence did nothing to diminish his reputation as one of the best light heavyweights in the world. In addition to his interim crown, he remains ranked #2 and #4 in his division by BoxRec and Ring Magazine. Now back at 100%, he intends to make up for lost time by finally settling matters with Richards.

“Being a champion isn’t just about fighting, it’s also about knowing how to handle the moments when you can’t. Not being able to step into the ring in February was difficult, but it now allows me to come back even stronger. On June 4, there’s no more waiting. I am the champion, and I’m coming to show it to everyone—Richards first,” said interim world champion Albert Ramirez.

In the opposite corner, Lerrone Richards (19-1, 4 KOs) has remained patient over the past four months. The former IBO super middleweight world champion, who notably defeated former world champions such as Carlos Góngora and Giovanni De Carolis, says he is more motivated than ever to pull off an upset, sharing the same ambitions as his opponent.

The electrifying WBC Continental super lightweight (140 lb) champion Jhon Orobio (17-0, 15 KOs) will aim for a fourth title defense in under a year. QUINCY, Mass. (March 24, 2026) – Former world-ranked boxer Ryan “The Polish Prince” Kielczweski (31-6, 11 KOs), four years since his last fight, will return to the ring at home on May 16^th to headline “Rumble at the Rink II”, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at the Youth Arena in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Kielczweski, a 36-year-old MBTA police officer, was an acclaimed amateur boxer with a 118-26 record, winning silver at the 2008 National Golden Gloves and earning two New England Golden Gloves titles. He won his first 22 pro bouts between 2008 and 2015.

“I’m going to get in the ring, hopefully win and take it from there,” Kielczweski spoke about his comeback. “I’d gotten out of shape a little because I work 60 hours a week. I don’t need to do it (fight), but I’m going to have fun doing it.”

Kielczweski hasn’t fought in Quincy since December 10, 2016, and May 16 will mark only his third pro fight at home. In 37 pro fights and 214 rounds fought, Ryan has never been stopped.

“I guess I’m just too stubborn to go down,” Kielczweski joked. “Boxing is something I’ve done since I was 6; it’s been like a job for me, and I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring again. We’re all going to have a good time on May 16^th in Quincy.”

Ryan and Granite Chin promoter Chris Traietti are very close friends and fellow Quincy residents.

“It’s awesome that, after a few years to give his body a rest, Ryan has decided to make one final run at boxing,” Traietti said. “He is the epitome of a ‘pro’s pro’. Being on national television about a dozen times and never being stopped, he is the most underrated fighter in Massachusetts, period. May 16^th is the first step on his journey to going back on the national stage.”

Another local favorite, Milton (MA) junior featherweight Jenn Perella, is also scheduled to fight May 16^th in a six-rounder versus Kate Radomska, of Waterford, Ireland. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the United States House of Representatives passed by voice vote Congressman Brian Jack’s Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act (H.R.4624), the first boxing legislation to pass the House of Representatives in 26 years.

Last year, on July 23, 2025, Congressman Jack introduced his landmark bipartisan legislation with Congresswoman Sharice Davids (KS-03), which was referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce.

The Education and Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections held a hearing on December 4, 2025, featuring testimony in support of the legislation from Lonnie Ali, wife of the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali and co-founder of the Muhammad Ali Center.  On January 21, during a House Committee on Education and Workforce markup, the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act was overwhelmingly approved by a bipartisan vote of 30–4.

Congressman Brian Jack said, “The House of Representatives made history today by passing by voice vote landmark boxing legislation that will revive one of America’s greatest sports in the name of one of America’s greatest athletes.  Professional boxing is the only sport regulated by Congress, and ambiguity in current law — adopted over a quarter century ago — has adversely affected boxers and stifled investment.  The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act strengthens safety protections for boxers, improves the quality of life for boxers, and establishes a framework for innovation within the sport to flourish.”

Lonnie Ali, praising the passage of the legislation, said, “Muhammad dedicated his life to fighting — not just in the ring, but for the dignity of every person. Today’s passage in the House of The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act will continue to carry that legacy forward. Prior to its passage, the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act was endorsed by the Association of Boxing Commissions, boxing legend Mike Tyson, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and America’s largest arena operators, including Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., MGM Resorts International, as well as State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Congress has previously passed two boxing laws, the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act (the “Ali Act”) and the Professional Boxing Safety Act of 1996.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act (MAABRA) preserves the “Ali Act” that was codified in 2000, and enhances the Professional Boxing Safety Act of 1996 by adding supplemental provisions to improve the safety and well-being of boxers.

MAABRA establishes a national minimum payment-per-round for all professional boxers ($200 per round), which prevents up-and-coming fighters from being exploited.  In addition, all professional boxers would have access to better health insurance, including a first-time national minimum of $50,000 of coverage for injuries sustained during a bout.

MAABRA allows for the creation of alternative systems called Unified Boxing Organizations (UBOs), which would provide boxers with better health and safety protections, greater compensation, and more choice and opportunities.  UBOs would not replace the current sanctioning organizations.  Instead, UBOs would exist side-by-side and operate independently, with UBO events regulated by state athletic commissions.

Boxers would have the freedom to choose which of the two systems – the existing sanctioning organizations model or the new UBO model – is most advantageous to them.

Following today’s passage of Congressman Jack’s Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act by the House of Representatives, the United States Senate will consider the legislation.

Lopez is an American professional boxer and a two-division world champion. He represented as an amateur, his parent’s native country of Honduras at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The Steel City King is back with Dalton Smith’s Sheffield return officially set for Saturday, June 6 when he defends his WBC World Super Lightweight Championship for the first time against Alberto Puello – live on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN.
 
Sheffield Utilita Arena will play host to what promises to be yet another special night in the Steel City as the 29-year-old takes on the Dominican southpaw.
 
Two-time World Champion Puello is desperate to reclaim the green and gold title he surrendered in a majority decision defeat to Subriel Matias in July last year.
 
Matias didn’t hold the hardware for long, as Smith swooped in back in January to deliver one of the most memorable away victories in modern British boxing history.
 
‘Thunder’ Smith realised his boyhood dream of becoming a World Champion, leaving the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a stunning stoppage to end a breathtaking firefight with a ferocious fifth-round knockout.
 
Now Smith (19-0, 14 KOs) wants to put Puello (24-1, 10 KOs) to task and ensure a happy homecoming in front of his legion of fans.

In the main event, undefeated lightweight Antonio Perez will take on veteran Abraham Montoya in a 10-round bout for the WBC USA Silver Lightweight Title.

Isis is a passionate, disciplined, and well-prepared athlete who carefully evaluates each opportunity placed before her.

Her decision to compete on Saturday, March 21, against Jocelyn Camarillo was not made lightly, but rather thoughtfully reviewed and analyzed prior to acceptance.

In reference to her previous bout on January 30 against Perla Bazaldua, the result was not due to a head-strike knockout.

Instead, it was caused by a liver shot.

As is well understood in boxing, a direct blow to the liver can trigger an involuntary physiological response (vasovagal syncope). Because the liver is highly vascularized and rich in nerve supply, such an impact can stimulate the vagus nerve — leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure and heartrate.

This may result in temporary paralysis, dizziness, and difficulty breathing.

Please note, she was on a 45-day suspension and cleared before she accepted the fight with Jocelyn Camarillo. 

At this time, Isis remains in ICU, but she is off the ventilator and we are hopeful for her progression.

The action-packed event, promoted by Matchroom Boxing in association with Boxlab Promotions, streamed live worldwide on DAZN, giving fans a glimpse of the promotion’s promising future.

Undefeated super featherweight Roberto Gomez (9-0, 3 KOs) secured a dominant unanimous decision victory over Belmar Preciado (23-12-1, 16 KOs) in a six-round bout, showcasing his boxing skills and composure against a seasoned opponent. “This fight was really about staying disciplined and following what we worked on in camp,” said Gomez. “Preciado is a tough, experienced fighter, so I just tried to stay patient and do things the right way. I’m grateful for the win, but I know I still have a lot to learn and improve on. Every fight is a chance for me to grow. I’m just taking it one step at a time, gaining experience, and trying to get better each time I step in the ring. I’ll stay ready and keep working for whatever comes next.”

Undefeated Puerto Rican featherweight Carlos De Leon (8-0, 6 KOs) also remained perfect, earning a unanimous decision win over Damian Alcala (8-7, 2 KOs) in a six-round contest. De Leon spoke about staying focused and continuing to build momentum in his young career. “I wanted to go in there and show that I can control a fight from start to finish,” said De Leon. “Not every fight is going to end in a knockout, but it’s important to show I can box, stay patient, and win clearly. I’m still learning and getting better every time out. Staying undefeated is important, but I’m focused on improving and making sure I’m ready when the bigger opportunities come.”

Undefeated knockout artist Jordan Orozco (16-0, 16 KOs) delivered the most explosive performance of the night, scoring a second-round knockout over Daniel Olea (13-15-3, 5 KOs) in their scheduled six-round bout. Orozco spoke about maintaining his perfect knockout record and making a statement. “I was focused on sticking to the game plan and staying composed,” said Orozco. “Once I saw the opening, I followed through with what my team and I have been working on. The knockouts are a blessing, but they come from the work we put in every day. I’m thankful for where I’m at, and I’m going to stay humble and keep building.”

The 36-year-old, who will be fighting in Ireland for the first time since 2014, also is a two-time European amateur champion.

Two other celebrated Irish amateur boxers from Cork, welterweight Ryan McCarthy and super middleweight Brian “Bone Breaker” Long (3-0, 2 KOs), are scheduled to be fighting on the Apr. 18^th card. McCarthy will make his pro debut in a six-round match. He is a 2024 Irish Elite Champion who also took home top honors at the 2022 and 2019 Celtic Box Cup. A 2024 Irish National Immediate Champion, Long will be fighting in a four-rounder.

“Nevin is one of the best Irish fighters of all time,” Gary Hyde noted. “And we are delighted to add Irish Elite Champion Ryan McCarthy and Irish National Champion Brian Long to Tommy’s undercard. Both fighters are from Cork; Ryan has been a club-mate of Tommy’s since they were 11 years old.”

George Liddard successfully defended his British & Commonwealth Middleweight Titles over 12 rounds last night – and then courageously completed 13-and-a-half miles in the Matchroom Brentwood Half Marathon, in association with Bakers, the following morning.

After overcoming former European ruler Tyler Denny with a unanimous points decision to claim the vacant IBF Intercontinental crown following a hard-fought battle over the distance at the Copper Box Arena, the 23-year-old joined thousands of other runners on the start line in Essex on Sunday.

Matchroom President Barry Hearn OBE and Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn were there to welcome the ‘Billericay Bomber’ across the finish line, where he recorded an impressive time of just over two-and-a-half hours.

Beaming, with his trademark sunglasses on to cover up the battle scars from his victory over Denny, Liddard insisted he was a “man of his word” after running to raise awareness for the stricken three-year-old son of two of his close friends, after the young boy recently suffered a heart wrenching accident whilst on holiday – more information on how to donate, can be found here.

“I’m a little bit sore and I didn’t get too much sleep last night, but I had to be here to do my bit for that family today,” said Liddard.

“I’m a man of my word. And I had to turn up to support their cause. I was understandably a little bit slower than usual, but it was so great to join thousands of other runners who are raising money for charities like I am too. 

“I’ve earned myself a little break now and I don’t think ‘ll be running for at least another week. But I hope I’ll be back out in the ring very soon. I’ll fight any man.”

Matchroom pledged its support to be the headline partner for the Brentwood Half Marathon, penning a five-year sponsorship deal worth over £100,000, which kickstarted with Sunday’s 2026 edition.

The partnership marks an exciting new chapter in the event’s 44-year history of bringing runners, charities, and the Brentwood community together.

Liddard’s trainer Tony Sims also completed the race under two hours with former fighter John Ryder and Liddard’s gym stablemate, Light-Heavyweight star Craig Richards also posting impressive times.

And Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn vowed to take part next year after paying homage to Liddard.

“It truly is remarkable what George has done today, off the back of a solid 12-rounds last night,”said Hearn.

“George has a fantastic future ahead of him and he is becoming a proper hero on the streets of Essex.

“The weather has been great and it was wonderful to see so many people in the local community come together for today’s race – it just shows you how important it is to stage events like this and we are really proud to sponsor this Half Marathon. We had many people from the team at Matchroom taking part today too. And I’ll be on the starting line next year, that’s for sure.”

Carlos Adames retained the WBC Middleweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Austin Williams to retain the WBC Middleweight title over Immanuwel Aleem at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.

It was a fast paced fight with several instances of toe-to-toe action

In round two, Adames dropped Williams with a perfect straight right down the middle.

In round 12, Williams was bleeding from the mouth.

Adames, 158.6 lbs of Elias Pina, DR won by scores of 118-108 and 117-109 twice and is now 25-1-1. Williams, 159.6 lbs of Palm Beach Gardens, FL is 20-2.

Omari Jones Decisions Christian Gomez

Omari Jones won a eight-round unanimous decision over Christian Gomez in a junior middleweight bout.

Jones landed 109 of 396 punches. Gomez was just 20 of 175.

Jones, 151.6 lbs of Orlando, FL won by scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 6-0. Gomez, 151.6 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 23-7-1.

Marksman Decisions Gomez

Corey Marksman won a 10-round unanimous decision over Jaycob Gomez in a lightweight bout.

Marksman landed 123 of 397 punches. Gomez was 106 of 375.

Marksman, 134 lbs of Sanford, FL won by scores of 98-92 and 96-94 twice and is 13-0-1. Gomez, 134.2 lbs of Caguas. PR is 14-1-1.

Teremoana Stops Harper in 1st

Teremoana Teremoana stopped Curtis Harper in round one of their 10-round heavyweight bout.

At the end of round, Teremoana landed a crushing short right to the head that sent Harper crashing to the canvas and the fight was over at 2:59.

Teremoana 265.5 lbs of Queensland, AUS is 10-0 with 10 knockouts. Harper, 270.2 lbs of Jacksonville, FL is 19-13.

Lester Martinez won the WBC Interim Super Middleweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Immanuwel Aleem at the Orange Show Events Center in San Bernadino, California.

It was a fight that had some good two-way action that saw Martinez get the better more often than that. Aleem had some good flurries but it was too-far in between.

Martinez, 167.4 lbs of Guatemala City, Guatemala won by scores of 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 and is now 20-0-1. Aleem, 167.5 lbs of Richmond, VA is 20-4-3.

“I feel good,” said a happy Martinez, post-fight. “I want to thank my parents and family. I want to thank my team: Bomac, Saul, all my team and my promoter Garry Jonas. I want to thank all of you, Guatemala. We now have a world champion! I love Guatemala and all of my fans. I love y’all. Viva Guatemala!

“All respect to Aleem,” the new champion continued. “He’s a warrior and we knew how good he was and his experience, but we were ready for that and more. We went in cautious because we knew what we had in front of us. But to hear the Guatemalan fans cheering gave us the will to go on.”

“He had more consistency in the little things and I didn’t capitalize, so shout out to Lester Martinez,” said a disappointed but sportsmanlike Aleem. “It wasn’t the performance I was looking for, but I’m going back to the drawing board to continue my hunt for a world title.”

Anton Stops Abdukakhorov After 1

Joshua Kevin Anton stopped Kudratillo Abdukakhorov After round one of their 10-round super welterweight bout.

After a non-descript opening round, Abdudkakhorov came back to his corner holding both sides of head and the bout was stopped.

Anton, 153 lbs of Palmdale, CA is 13-0 with 12 knockouts. Abdukakhorov, 153.2 lbs of Uznekistan is 22-6.

Gonzalez Stops Chambers in 1

Albert Gonzalez stopped Brandon Chambers in round one of their 10-round featherweight fight.

In round one, Gonzalez landed a hard right on the chin. At first, the referee did not see the punch but then started a count. Chambers got up, but he was hurt and the fight stopped at 1:47.

Gonzalez, 127.2 lbs of Riverside, CA is 17-0 with 10 knockouts. Chambers, 126.6 lbs of Owings Mills. MD is 12-5-1.

Samuel Contreras stopped Cesar Cantu in the second round of their six-round lightweight bout.

Contreras dominated the action and the fight was stopped at 1:09 of round two.

Contreras, 134 lbs of Los Angeles is now 6-0 with three knockouts. Cantu, 132.8 lbs of Weslaco, TX is 3-6-2

Luis Coria stopped Lito Dante after round two of their four-round bantamweight fight.

Coria overwhelmed Dante and the fight was stopped in the corner following round two.

Coria, 114 3/4 lbs of Moreno Valley, CA is 5-0 with five knockouts. Dante, 114 lbs of the Phillippines is 24-16-4.

Kevin Ceja Ventura won a six-round unanimous decision over Aaron Watson in a super welterweight bout.

Ventura landed 137 of 574 punches. Wilson was 120 of 461.

Ceja, 153 lbs of Omaha, NE won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 12-1. Wilson of Riverside, CA is 2-2-2.

Jocelyn Camarillo stopped Isis Sio in the opening round of their four-round light flyweight bout.

In round one, Camarillo landed a combination that finished off by a left to the head that put Sio down and out at 1:18.

Sio was stretchered out of the ring.

DAZN and the boxing world will descend on Orlando, Fla., tomorrow, March 21 for a WBC World Middleweight Championship bout between Carlos Adames (24-1, 18 KOs) and Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams (20-1, 13 KOs) inside the Caribe Royale Orlando.

Adames and Williams continue bringing the non-stop action on DAZN at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT after Arnold Barboza Jr. (33-1, 11 KOs) dominated Kenneth “Bossman” Sims Jr. (22-4-1, 8 KOs) for 12 rounds in a unanimous decision victory last weekend in Anaheim, Calif.

Adames is fresh and ready for war since last stepping in the ring in February 2025. He was originally scheduled to take on Williams as part of the Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson card in January before withdrawing due to illness.

While Williams carried out the January fight with a unanimous decision win over last-second replacement Wendy Toussaint, Dominican fighter Adames last successfully defended his WBC middleweight belt against Hamzah Sheeraz 13 months ago.

On the undercard, Orlando’s own Omari Jones (5-0, 4 KOs) will look to stay undefeated against Christian Gomez (23-6, 21 KOs), who most recently dropped a WBC Latino Welterweight title fight to Alberto Ignacio Palmetta in July 2025.

Both Jaycob Gomez (14-0-1, 8 KOs) and Corey Marksman (12-0-1, 9 KOs) put their undefeated records at stake in a lightweight clash, while Australian Olympian Teremoana Teremoana (9-0, 9 KOs) faces Jacksonville native Curtis Harper (19-12, 13 KOs) to round out the card.

As DAZN wraps up the month of March, the excitement continues to build for the long-awaited brawl between former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) and two-time world title contender Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs). LAS VEGAS – March 20, 2026 – Exciting young star Elijah Garcia will face veteran super middleweight contender Kevin Newman II in the 10-round super middleweight main event of a three-fight FIRST ON PRIME lineup taking place Saturday, March 28 streaming live and for free on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The streaming presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT with rising teenage sensation Kaipo Gallegos dueling once-beaten Julian Gonzalez in a 10-round lightweight attraction, and will also feature undefeated featherweight prospect Brayan Gonzalez taking on Mexico’s Brandon Guerrero in a six-round showdown.

These matchups lead into a jam-packed PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT headlined by WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora defending his world title against former unified world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman.

**ELIJAH GARCIA VS. KEVIN NEWMAN II**

Headlining on Prime Video, 22-year-old rising star Elijah Garcia will make his debut at the full super middleweight limit as he takes on streaking battle-tested veteran Kevin Newman II, who enters this 10-round fight on a seven-bout winning streak.

Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, García (17-1, 13 KOs) most recently rose from the canvas to take home a split-decision against Terrell Gausha last March, getting back in the win column after coming up short on the cards against Kyrone Davis in June 2024. Garcia had previously burst onto the scene as a teenager by earning three impressive victories in 2023. He kicked off that memorable campaign in March with a knockout of the previously unbeaten Amilcar Vidal and followed that up with a pair of performances on the undercards of two of the biggest events of the year. He first defeated Kevin Salgado on the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia pay-per-view in April before knocking out current super middleweight champion Armando Resendiz on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo pay-per-view in September.

Originally from Los Angeles and now fighting out of Las Vegas, Newman (18-3-1, 11 KOs) has put together seven consecutive victories dating back to 2021. This run includes two 2025 triumphs that saw him beat Alan Campa by unanimous decision last March before most recently defeating Malcolm Jones by seventh-round stoppage last July. The 34-year-old put together this run after a pair of close decision defeats to Genc Plllana and Manuel Gallegos. Newman’s first blemish came via a decision loss to Marcos Hernandez, which he later avenged in near shutout fashion. Newman turned pro in 2014, reeling off seven-straight wins after a split-draw in his pro debut.

**KAIPO GALLEGOS VS. JULIAN GONZALEZ**

At just 19-years-old, undefeated lightweight prospect Kaipo Gallegos will square off against a skilled 24-year-old contender in Julian Gonzalez for a 10-round battle as Gallegos looks to shine on a big stage and elevate his status as one of boxing’s top young prospects.

Fighting out of his native Las Vegas, Gallegos (11-0-1, 9 KOs) earned three victories in 2025, including a stoppage of the previously unbeaten Pedro Castaneda Castro in May. Most recently, Gallegos had a successful 2026 debut January, as he picked up a TKO victory over then-undefeated Wilson Akinocho. Stepping into the ring as a pro in Las Vegas for the fourth time on March 28, Gallegos has compiled his unbeaten record following a strong amateur career that included runs to the finals of the 2022 and 2021 U.S. National Championships.

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity to fight in my hometown,” said Gallegos. “This is a big fight for me, and I’m looking to make a statement and put on a great show for the fans and defend my home. I know I’m facing a good opponent who’s coming to take my undefeated record, but we’re more than ready for any challenge we have to overcome. My goal is to be world champion and Gonzalez isn’t gonna stop me.”

Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Gonzalez (16-1-1, 12 KOs) will step back into the ring after his first career defeat, which came via a split-decision against Jason Sanchez last June. The loss broke a 10-fight winning streak for Gonzalez dating back to the only other blemish on his record, a 2022 majority draw against Ivan Jimenez. Gonzalez will compete in Las Vegas for the first time as a pro when he enters the ring on March 28.

“I can’t wait for March 28,” said Gonzalez. “I feel like this is gonna be an exciting fight and a great night for me. I’ve adjusted some things that had to be adjusted and I think that’s going to play a major role against Gallegos. MGM Grand is one of the places that I always to fight at since I was young and I can’t wait to go there and put on a show.”

**BRAYAN GONZALEZ VS. BRANDON GUERRERO**

Another promising young prospect kicks off the action, as Brayan Gonzalez steps into the ring hoping to make a statement in a six-round featherweight matchup against Mexico’s Brandon Guerrero.

A stablemate of Interim WBC Middleweight Champion Jesus Ramos Jr., Gonzalez (4-0, 3 KOs) is unbeaten in four fights since turning pro in June 2024, in a fight that also took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. An accomplished amateur from Phoenix, Arizona, Gonzalez had two successful outings in 2025 with a pair of stoppage wins. Most recently he beat then undefeated Osiel Flores last May in round three.

The 26-year-old Guerrero (7-4) has faced undefeated opponents in five of his last six fights, including an upset decision victory over Kevin Ayala in March 2025. Representing his native Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico, Guerrero turned pro in January 2020 and scored victories in his first five outings. Most recently Guerrero challenged unbeaten Sachery Sam in December, dropping a six round decision.

Touting an uber-successful amateur campaign that consists of 60 bouts, Julius “JuJu” Ballo made his professional debut at the world-famous Madison Square Garden Theater last year, dominating Brandan Ayala en route to a unanimous decision victory. In a sophomore outing further cementing his status as a future star, the 2024 Golden Gloves Champion faced Juan Centeno, a rugged veteran nearly ten years his senior and with 40 more professional fights than the young Southern Californian. Now with two statement unanimous decision victories under his belt, “JuJu” will meet Santa Ana, Calif. native Roman Reyes (6-1,5 KOs) in a super featherweight attraction.  

In a significant step up in opponent for Ballo, the heavy-handed Reyes sports five knockout victories, most recently scoring a fourth-round stoppage over Matias Agustin Arriagada one year ago, further highlighting his fight stopping power. Kicking off his career with four straight knockouts, Reyes has established himself as a dangerous opponent and the toughest test of Ballo’s young professional career. The California-born Reyes now resides and trains out of Greenville, S.C., and enters the bout intent on playing spoiler, looking to derail Ballo’s momentum on what is expected to be a pivotal night in the rising prospect’s hometown on the first edition of SD Fight Night. 

“Roman Reyes is a great opponent. Felix Parrilla remained undefeated and became the first fighter to stop Jose Velasquez as he scored second round stoppage in a 10-round featherweight bout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Just before the first-round bell sounded, Parrilla landed a right hand and left hook that made the knee of Velasquez touch the canvas. In round two, Parrilla landed a left hook to the jaw that put Velasquez down again. Parilla ended things after a flurry that forced the corner to throw the towel in at 2:02.

Parrilla, 125.4 lbs of New Haven, CT is 13-0 with 11 knockouts. Velazquez, 125.8 lbs of Chile is 34-13-3.

Derlyn Hernandez shocked Abisael Cotto with a stunning eighth-round stoppage in a 10-round junior lightweight bout.

In round three, Hernandez dropped Cotto with a big left hook that was followed by a straight right to the chin. In round four, both guys were leaking blood from the nose.

In round eight, Hernandez uncorked a devastating left hook that froze Cotto and crumpled him to the canvas and Cotto could not beat the count at 2:39.

Hernandez, 129.4 lbs of Monte Planta, DR is 14-5-1 with 12 knockouts. Cotto, 130 lbs of San Juan is 10-1.

Kiria Tapia remained undefeated with a eight-round unanimous decision over Ayanna Vasquez in a junior lightweight fight.

Tapia, 130 lbs of San Juan won by scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 9-0. Vasquez, 128.8 lbs of Las Cruces, NM is 7-2-1.

Garrett Rice won a six-round unanimous decision over Johniel Ramos Cotto in a lightweight bout.

In round four, Cotto was credited with a knockdown when he landed a combination and Rice went to the canvas. Replays showed that Rice slipped to the canvas. In round six, Cotto began to swell under his right eye.

Rice, 135.4 lbs of Flint, MI won by scores of 58-55 on all cards and is now 3-0. Cotto, 132.2 lbs of Sabana Grande, PR is 4-4.

LAS VEGAS – March 18, 2026 – Cinco de Mayo Weekend in Las Vegas will feature a star-studded night of high-octane Mexico vs. Mexico showdowns, with the pay-per-view undercard highlighted by the world championship co-main event between Nayarit’s WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Armando “Toro” Reséndiz and Tijuana’s all-action former world champion Jaime Munguía taking place Saturday, May 2 on the Benavidez vs. Zurdo PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The action will also include Mexico vs. Mexico matchups featuring top contenders going toe-to-toe as Parral’s Oscar Duarte takes on Tijuana’s Angel Fierro in a 10-round super lightweight bout, while undefeated rising Mexican star from La Paz Isaac “Puro México” Lucero meets the Nochistlan-native and fellow unbeaten Alan Sandoval in a 10-round super welterweight opening clash. An additional pay-per-view undercard bout will be announced shortly.

The Cinco de Mayo Weekend pay-per-view lineup begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will lead into the first of its kind Mexico vs. Mexico duel between undefeated two-division world champion David “El Monstro” Benavidez and unified WBA and WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez in the main event.

**ARMANDO RESENDIZ VS. JAIME MUNGUIA**

Looking to establish himself as the next Mexican star to dominate the 168-pound division, Armando “Toro” Reséndiz has wasted no time in seeking to bolster his resume as he will defend his WBA Super Middleweight World Championship against one of Mexico’s premier action fighters, the fan-friendly star Jaime Munguía, who will look to become a two-division world champion with a career-best victory over Reséndiz.

The 27-year-old Reséndiz (16-2, 11 KOs) pulled off one of 2025’s biggest upsets over former super middleweight world champion Caleb Plant last May with a ferocious performance to capture the interim title before being recently elevated. Trained by the renowned Manny Robles, the native of Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico was unbeaten in his first 12 fights after turning pro in 2018, showing impressive power with an eight-fight knockout streak. After coming up on the short end of a decision to Marcos Hernandez in September 2021, Reséndiz was dominant in stopping the former unified world champion Jarrett Hurd in the 10^th-round of their March 2023 matchup. Reséndiz’s only other blemish came against top contender Elijah Garcia in September 2023, before bouncing back to earn a fifth-round TKO of Fernando Paliza in February 2025.

“I’m very happy to be stepping into the ring with a great fighter like Jaime Munguia, who’s been competing at this level for a long time,” said Reséndiz. “For me, this is a big challenge and a huge motivation. These are the kinds of fights I’ve always dreamed about – facing the best names in the sport and proving that I belong at this level.”

The 29-year-old Munguía (45-2, 35 KOs) first burst onto the scene in 2018, shocking Sadam Ali via a fourth-round TKO to claim a 154-pound world championship, which he would go on to defend successfully five times. A native of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Munguía continued his dominance after moving up to 160-pounds, going 6-0 at the weight class from 2020 through 2022, including triumphs over D’Mitrius Ballard, Gabriel Rosado and Tureano Johnson, all while garnering a reputation as one of the most fan-friendly fighters in the sport. Munguia debuted at 168-pounds with a 2023 Fight of the Year triumph over Sergiy Derevyanchenko, eventually losing an undisputed 168-pound title challenge to Canelo Alvarez in 2024. Most recently, Munguia avenged a December 2024 loss to Bruno Sarace by winning a unanimous decision in the rematch last May.

“I’m very excited to be back, especially to fight for a world title against a fellow Mexican,” said Munguía. “I’m truly grateful to my team, and everyone who made this fight possible. We’re ready to come out victorious on this great night for Mexico!”

**OSCAR DUARTE VS. ANGEL FIERRO**

One of the top contenders at 140-pounds, Oscar Duarte was set to challenge IBF World Champion Richardson Hitchins in February before Hitchins pulled out due to illness on fight day, now he will look to return to action against the heavy-handed all-action brawler Angel Fierro in a 10-round super lightweight showdown.

Fighting out of Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, Duarte (30-2-1, 23 KOs) rides a four-fight winning streak into May 2, including a decision triumph over fellow top contender Kenneth Sims Jr. last August. The 30-year-old’s current run also includes an April 2024 stoppage of former world champion Joseph Diaz Jr. and a unanimous decision triumph over bruising contender Batyr Akhmedov. Duarte ended 11 consecutive fights before the final bell between May 2019 and May 2023 to earn a shot at current WBC Welterweight World Champion Ryan Garcia, ultimately coming up on the short end of their December 2023 matchup.

“I’m very happy and motivated for this fight on May 2 in Las Vegas,” said Duarte. “This is a great event that falls on a very meaningful date for all Mexicans, which makes it even more special to me. I can’t wait to face another Mexican warrior who’s already proven his talent and courage in the ring. When two Mexicans step into the ring, people know it’s gonna be a great fight. We’re both going to give it everything we have and I’m sure it will be a war that fans will truly enjoy. Originally from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Fierro (23-4-2, 18 KOs) now fights out of San Diego and has made a name for himself with his aggressive style and power punching prowess. The 27-year-old stamped his place amongst modern Mexican boxing warriors with an unforgettable slugfest against Mexican superstar Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz in February 2025, delivering one of the year’s best fights. Fierro has fought professionally since 2015 and was undefeated in his first 17 outings. He announced his presence as a world contender in 2021 with a career-best victory as he rose from the canvas to stop former world champion Alberto Machado in round six. Most recently Fierro was disqualified from an October 2025 bout against Abraham Cordero for fouling.

“I’m very grateful to my team for this great opportunity,” said Fierro. “We’re ready to return to Las Vegas and deliver a great fight and a surprise, just like we do every time we step into the ring. **ISAAC LUCERO VS. ALAN SANDOVAL**

Fresh off a pair of KO victories in 2025, undefeated rising contender Isaac “Puro México” will look to bring that momentum into 2026 as he steps in against fellow unbeaten Alan Sandoval, who makes his U.S. debut in this 10-round super welterweight showdown.

The 27-year-old Lucero (18-0, 14 KOs) turned pro in 2019 after an amateur career that saw him earn five national medals representing Mexico. A native of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Lucero has stopped his last seven opponents entering May 2, and also owns a pair of 10-round unanimous decision triumphs. In looking to make his U.S. takeover, Lucero has set up camp in Las Vegas, where he is trained by renowned coach Bob Santos. Most recently, Lucero dominated veteran Roberto Valenzuela Jr. in December, stopping the fight at the end of round 8.

Representing his native Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico, Sandoval (30-0-1, 19 KOs) will look to make a big splash in his first stateside bout after racking up four victories in 2025. The 30-year-old already began his 2026 campaign in February with a stoppage victory, his 13^th victories inside of the distance in his last 14 outings. A pro since 2019, Sandoval began his pro career with four-straight unanimous decisions before finding his power surge in recent years.

“I’m highly motivated by this tremendous opportunity and I have no intention of letting it slip away,” said Sandoval. “I have more experience than Isaac and I’ve been having the best training camp of my career. Competing in an event Cinco de Mayo Weekend is a dream come true. I have no doubt that this will be a great fight. March 18th, RENO — For the first time in six and a half years, Let’s Get It On Promotions and the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino are pleased to present an evening of world-class professional boxing, this Friday, March 20th in Downtown Reno, Nevada. 

The exciting fight card will feature Northern Nevada’s top talent. Additionally, world-renowned trainer Eddy Reynoso and ‘No Boxing No Life’ Management will be featuring two of their outstanding prospects.

Reno’s Ken “The Biggest Lil Bomber” Davis (15-2-1) will be defending his WBC USA lightweight title against Orlando Zepeda (13-4) of Mexico.

Carson City’s Christian Avalos will attempt to avenge his loss to Ebert Diaz of Richmond, CA in a six-round jr. welterweight scrap. Avalos’ cousin and decorated amateur boxer, Miguel ‘Tito’ Elizondo, also from the state capital, will be making his highly anticipated professional debut. Reno’s Joshua Nelson will be lacing up the gloves for the first time as pro as well in a four-round lightweight bout. 

“It feels great to bring boxing back to Reno,” says Let’s Get It On Promotions’ Terry Lane.

“There has been an incredible response from the community. Reno is a small-ish but strong boxing market, rich with history. There will be more events to come.”

Standout Cuban heavyweight Yoandy Toirac (3-0) will face Zedric Stephenson (5-5) in a six-round bout. Rounding out the card will be undefeated light heavyweight prospect Yahir Trejo (7-0) vs. Frankie Solomon (5-4-1) in a six-round bout.

(March 18, 2026) Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of WBO #1 junior lightweight contender, and mandatory challenger to Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete, Charly “King’s Warrior” Suarez to a promotional contract.

Suarez (18-0, 10 KOs), from Manila, Philippines, is best known for his controversial no-contest fight against WBO and IBF World Junior Lightweight Champion Navarrete in May of last year at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego.

Navarrete suffered a cut over his left eye in round six from what the referee ruled was an accidental clash of heads. The cut was deemed severe enough to stop the fight and go to the scorecards, where the champion Navarette was initially awarded a technical decision.

However, replay footage post-fight eventually proved that the cut had been caused by a legal punch from Suarez and that he should have been awarded the TKO victory. The California State Athletic Commission subsequently overturned Navarrete’s win and changed the result to a no-contest.

The WBO has now ordered negotiations to commence for Suarez to fight a rematch with Navarette next.

Suarez and his team say signing with Lewkowicz will ensure they receive proper guidance during these important times in his career.

Jarrell Miller and Lenier Pero will clash in an eliminator for the WBA World Heavyweight title at the BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday April 25, live worldwide on DAZN.
 
Miller (27-1-2 22 KOs) made his long-awaited return to the ring in New York in January at Madison Square Garden, beating Kingsley Ibeh over ten rounds via split decision in a bout remembered for a never-before-seen moment at the end of the second round when he ripped off his hairpiece after a flurry of punches from Ibeh dislodged ‘Big Baby’s’ mane. The charismatic Brooklynite was able to poke fun at himself and his viral fame following the incident, but focus now returns to action in the ring, with the 37 year old eager to put his name firmly in the mix for the biggest fights in the division, and a shot at the World title.
 
Victory over Pero would certainly put Miller into the conversation to fight the champions and leading contenders, but the Cuban will have other ideas. Pero (13-0 8 KOs) ranked #2 with the WBA, is chasing down a shot at the biggest prize in boxing, and the 2016 Olympian is back in the ring following a 13th win in the paid ranks in November, outpointing Briton Jordan Thompson at Caribe Royale in Orlando.
 
Miller and Pero went face-to-face in the ring after Pero’s win over Thompson, and they will do so again at 3pm ET on Thursday afternoon at that venue in Orlando for a launch press conference for the event, and they have both already stated the importance of this showdown as a huge step towards their World title dreams.

The deal paves the way for the heavy-handed Guerrero (11-0, 9 KOs), from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, to make more appearances on global boxing platform ProBoxTV in the coming months.

21-year-old Guerrero, who has never fought outside his native country, made his ProBoxTV debut earlier this month with a thudding second-round demolition of then undefeated (9-0) Jose Andres Baca Guzman.
