MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES FOR JONATHAN GONZALEZ VS. ABRAHAM PEREZ WBA INTERIM FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP THIS SUNDAY JUNE 14 LIVE ON DAZN FROM GRAND RAPIDS

GRAND RAPIDS (June 12, 2026) – Several fighters on this Sunday’s championship fight card from Grand Rapids participated in a media workout and boxing clinic for youth members of the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee Of Western Michigan on Friday at PK Boxing Gym.

The special 5 p.m. ET presentation live on DAZN from GLC Live at 20 Monroe coincides with New York’s Puerto Rican Day Parade and features multiple matchups between Puerto Rican and Mexican fighters in celebration of one of boxing’s greatest rivalries.

In the main event, Puerto Rico’s Jonathan “Bomba” González (29-4-1, 14 KOs) defends his WBA Interim Flyweight World Championship against unbeaten Mexican contender Abraham “Hammer” Perez (14-0 7KOs) in what oddsmakers have set as a near-50/50 fight.

In the co-feature, Puerto Rican undefeated contender Joshua “JJ” Pagán (15-0 5KOs) puts his WBO NABO Lightweight title on the line against Mexican challenger Rodolfo Bustamante Salazar (22-1-1 12 KOs).

Members of the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee Of Western Michigan will walk out González and Pagán for their respective bouts to celebrate the occasion and Grand Rapid’s large and vibrant Puerto Rican community.

Also working out and guiding the local youth on Friday was Troy “Transformer” Isley (15-0, 5 KOs), who will put his unbeaten record on the line against hard-hitting Leonardo Di Stefano (17-7, 14 KOs). Note: Jonathan González was unable to participate due to a flight delay caused by severe weather in the Midwest on Thursday.

FIGHTER QUOTES:

ABRAHAM “HAMMER” PEREZ:

“For this camp I trained in Albuquerque, and the only real adjustment we made for this opponent was bringing in some southpaws to spar.

“Nothing prepares you for a fight quite like fighting for your life. I was in a coma for four days on life support with organ failure after drowning (referring to a 2024 near-fatal training incident). They told me I could have woken up brain-dead or lost my legs. The only reason I fully recovered is because I was in peak athletic shape.

“That experience completely shifted my mindset. I want fans watching me on Sunday to realize that anything is possible.”

JOSHUA “JJ” PAGÁN:

“After a long camp down in Florida, there is absolutely nothing like the feeling of coming back home.

“Having those kids right there in the gym with me during the clinic from the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee of Western Michigan was incredible. It reminded me exactly who I do this for. I love this community, and fighting in front of my family, friends, and those kids in my hometown is everything to me.

“On Sunday, I’m going out there to finish the job. This weekend, I’m not just defending my belt, I’m defending my city.”

RODOLFO BUSTAMANTE SALAZAR:

“We started camp out in Mexico focusing heavily on strength and conditioning, then wrapped things up in California.

“I leave the strategy entirely up to my coaches. They prepared me to go a hard ten rounds, and if the knockout is there, we’re taking it.

“On Sunday, I want to show the fans my elegant style and give them a class performance. I prepared myself the best I can, and I’m ready to give everyone a great show.”

TROY “TRANSFORMER” ISLEY:

“Camp went amazing, the weight is right where it needs to be, and I am just excited to get out there Sunday and put on a show.

“As far as a prediction, I’m going to spend the first two rounds testing his gas tank and slowly breaking him down mentally and physically. Once round three hits, I’m picking up the pace. I see a beautiful, methodical breakdown that ends in a stoppage by the sixth round at the latest.”

Undefeated Middleweight Amir Anderson Meets Jonas Sylvain in Battle of Unbeatens on DAZN

LONG BEACH, CA (June 12, 2026) – MF Pro’s undefeated prospect Amir “Cashman” Anderson (7-0, 7 KOs) of Syracuse, New York, is ready for the most defying moment of his young career when he faces fellow unbeaten foe Jonas Sylvain (9-0-1, 5 KOs) of Boynton Beach, Florida, in a scheduled 10-round middleweight showdown on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. Adding even more significance to the matchup, the WBC US Silver Middleweight Title will be at stake when Anderson and Sylvain square off on MF Pro’s inaugural U.S. event, ‘Pugilist Revolution,’ live on DAZN.

For Anderson, a devastating puncher who has stopped every opponent he’s faced as a professional, the bout represents more than just another fight. It’s an opportunity to announce himself on a major stage against an undefeated opponent and prove he belongs among boxing’s rising stars. After months of preparation, Anderson believes this training camp has elevated him to another level. Discussing the work he put in during camp, Anderson expressed confidence that fans will see the best version of him on fight night.

“This was probably the best training camp I’ve had as a pro,” said Anderson “I put in a lot of hard work every day and made sure I was ready for a big opportunity like this. Everyone around me has seen how serious I’ve been about this fight. I’m not flying across the country just to pick up another win. I want people to see what I’m capable of and remember my name. When that bell rings, fans are going to see a fighter who’s motivated, determined, and ready to show he belongs at the next level.”

Standing across the ring will be Sylvain, another undefeated fighter looking to preserve his perfect record. Anderson welcomes the challenge and views the matchup as exactly the type of fight he has been seeking. When asked about facing Sylvain, Anderson made it clear that he respects his opponent’s accomplishments but believes this fight will reveal who is ready for the next level.

“Jonas has done what he needed to do to stay undefeated, and I respect that,” stated Anderson. “He’s a good fighter and this is the type of fight that will change the direction for both of us. But when we get in the ring, it’s going to come down to who wants it more. I’ve worked too hard and waited too long for an opportunity like this to let it slip away. This is a big fight with a lot on the line, and I plan on making the most of it. I believe my work ethic, my strength, and my mindset are going to be the difference. These are the fights that can take your career to the next level, and I’m ready to show everyone that I’m the fighter who’s ready for that step.”

The event will also mark Anderson’s first professional appearance in California, a destination long associated with some of boxing’s most memorable moments and biggest stars. The Syracuse native is embracing the opportunity to compete on the West Coast and showcase his talent in front of a new audience.

“Fighting in California for the first time is something I’m really excited about,” continued Anderson. “This state has such a rich boxing history, and a lot of legendary fighters have built their names here. To have my first fight in California happen on a major card and in front of a DAZN audience makes it even more special. I want the fans out there to remember my name when the night is over. Whenever you get the chance to perform in a new market, it’s an opportunity to grow your fan base and show people what you’re all about. I’m looking forward to putting on a performance that gets people talking.”

With DAZN cameras broadcasting the event worldwide, Anderson understands the significance of the exposure and the impact a victory could have on his future. Anderson believes a strong performance against an undefeated opponent on a global platform could be the breakthrough moment that accelerates his rise in the middleweight division.

“This is the kind of opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” said Anderson. “I’m fighting another undefeated guy on DAZN, so I know a lot of people will be watching. A win in this fight can open a lot of doors for me and show my promoter, the fans, and everyone in the division that I’m ready to take the next step. I’ve put in too much hard work to let this opportunity slip away. I plan on going out there, taking care of business, and showing everyone that I’m a fighter they need to pay attention to. June 19 is my chance to prove I belong among the best up-and-coming fighters in the sport.”

Tickets priced $80.00 (General Admission), $250.00 (Ringside) + applicable fees are on sale now by clicking HERE. Thunder Studios is located at 20434 S Santa Fe Ave, Long Beach, CA 90810.

OSHAE JONES QUOTES

On what she learned from her first bout vs. Carranza:

From the first fight, I learned that she was tougher than I expected. She was very durable. She didn’t come just to lie down. She really wanted the belts

On her split decision win during her first fight vs. Carranza:

I’m honestly tired of hearing about it. I feel like I clearly won.

On her plans to make a statement in her rematch vs. Carranza:

This time I’m going to make it more clear. I’m going to show why I’m on another. I’m going to show why I’m the champion.

On her prediction for Saturday night:

I’m 100% mentally and physically. It’s going to be a show.

On her promotional debut with MVP:

I’m very excited to be headlining with MVP and fighting on ESPN. I feel like ESPN is the biggest sports platform, period. For us to be on the card, as a women’s main event… I’m proud to be a part of this and make history.

On fighting live on ESPN:

I feel like this is next level. I feel like this is the biggest stage and platform that I have ever fought on so far. I just can’t wait to make my statement.

On improving her mindset for this bout:

I made the change to become a better boxer overall. I had a lot of mental health going on with the last fight. I wasn’t there mentally. I think I changed. I’m 100% this time.

ELIA CARRANZA QUOTES

On losing to Jones in their first bout:

I feel like we don’t agree on a lot, but today we are agreeing on quite a few things. I’m tired of hearing about it [her loss], too.

On her rematch vs. Jones:

I am excited to be here. I’m excited to put this all behind us and put it to rest.

On her plans for Saturday’s fight:

I feel like I’m going to come in and do way more than I did last time and really do what I need to do to solidify my name in women’s boxing to take home those belts.

On fighting on a card with Tiara Brown as the co-main event:

I think this platform is amazing. Man, when I realized I was on a card with Tiara Brown, that was it. I was like, we’re good, man.

On going into this camp following the passing of one of her former coaches:

God has shown me and brought in so much love, so much affection, so much talent into my team ever since then. Just showing me like listen, I couldn’t do anything about that, but here’s what I could do for you now.

On her current team:

My team is as solid as it ever been. I’m just so grateful and so blessed.

On her message to her supporters

I appreciate the love and support. I just want everybody to tune in on Saturday and watch us go to work. It’s going to be a show.

TIARA BROWN QUOTES

On MVP and Jake Paul’s support for women’s boxing:

What excites me the most is that we are under an umbrella, MVP, that actually cares about women’s boxing. You know, Jake Paul gets a lot of slack for being a YouTuber, right, but he’s come into the game and done something that all the other promoters for decades said couldn’t be done.

On public opinion that she doesn’t get the praise she deserves:

I would like to thank all of my fans who feel that way. Even people whom I have fought tell me that they feel the same exact way about it.

On feeling like she hasn’t received her flowers yet:

I feel like I still haven’t received my flowers, you know. As an amateur, I was number one on the planet Earth, and a lot of people don’t even know that I won Gold in China. I’ve won some great fights. As a professional, I’m undefeated. I went to Australia and beat the world champion in her backyard, you know, for America. I’m very patriotic.

On her hopes to continue pursuing opportunities in the future:

I know sooner or later that’s going to change because God has opened up many doors for me, and every time one crack opens, I kick it down.

HANNAH RAPP QUOTES

On her feelings towards Brown:

I think we both have a mutual respect for each other. I think that we are very similar in our personalities and our fighting styles.

On her intentions for Saturday night:

We’re here to put on a show, and we’re here to glorify women’s boxing, and our lord and savior.

On fighting Brown live on ESPN:

I’m really excited to be here, and I know that I belong on this platform. We all belong on this platform. For ESPN and for MVP to be putting women’s boxing on the platform that it deserves is just a glorious thing.

JASMINE ARTIGA QUOTES

On facing Delgado:

She’s a durable, tough opponent. She’s my mandatory for a reason. She holds an interim world title, but on Saturday, you’re going to see the difference between an interim world champion and a world champion.

On what a win on Saturday night would mean to her:

This win means everything to me, as every win does.

On her grandmother, who was part of her camp, passing away:

Just not having her [Jamine’s grandmother] for this camp, you know, it was hard, but I needed her in a different place. I feel like this is a rebirth of a new fighter that you’re going to see in that ring, and she finally gets to be in that ring with me. I know that’s going to be an amazing moment for me.

On her camp:

You know, nothing ever really changes in my camp. I’ve been disciplined my whole career. It’s just another mission that needs to be completed on Saturday.

On the significance of her belt:

My belt is bigger than just a belt for me. I want to touch back with the kids. Every time the kids see my belt and get to touch my belt, I know I have a bigger purpose with it. So, trying to take it from me is going to be a very difficult task.

On Tiara Brown:

My first time ever walking into a boxing gym, Tiara was sparring. She was on the Olympic team, and she was winning Gold. I told my Dad I want to be just like her. And look at us right here, which is the craziest part. We won our world titles on the same day, and we represent Florida. So, I love this girl. She deserves all the flowers and everything that life has for her and that God has planned for her.

On being on the main card:

Being on the main card for me is a big opportunity and a dream that has come true.

On facing Artiga:

I respect my opponent, and I hope my opponent respects me. Once we get in the ring, it’s a beautiful story.

On what it would mean to her to defeat Artiga:

For me to win something like this would be a big accomplishment for my career.

EVELYN BERMUDEZ QUOTES

On being a part of MVP:

I’m very happy about signing with MVP and being amongst great fighters. It’s a great honor for me.

I’m very happy and proud of my country. I want to carry Argentina up high.

ESTEFANY ALEGRIA QUOTES

*All quotes have been translated from Spanish to English.

On her plans to face Bermudez on Saturday night:

I’m very proud to represent Mexico and Jalisco, too; it’s a land of champions. I’m going to leave everything in the ring.

EVERY WORD FROM THE FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE AHEAD OF BAM VS. VARGAS IN GLENDALE, ARIZONA

Eddie Hearn

“Welcome everybody to the wonderful Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, which has become one of our favorite places to visit, and Phoenix is becoming a real fight city. We’re going to have well over 10,000 in attendance on Saturday night, our biggest crowd ever in Phoenix, and more importantly for me, one of the cards of the year, a World championship double header, as pound-for-pound star Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez looks to try and win a third division World championship against the WBA king Antonio Vargas. The undercard is sensational, what a night of boxing.

“I said to Jordan Martinez just a few minutes ago, every one of these six fighters up here for the undercard press conference is undefeated, and that will change on Saturday night. We’ve got World championship action up here, a local derby, and the rematch of a brilliant fight.

“What a week we’ve got here for DAZN, and what a few months we’ve got coming up. I’ve said it time and time again, the zone firmly established as the global home of boxing. Every worthy promoter in the world is now on the platform with the best schedule boxing has ever seen. And for us at Matchroom, what a couple of weeks and months coming up. Saturday, a huge night in Glendale, Arizona. But in two weeks time for me, one of the fights of the year. Another pound-for-pound star on the Matchroom roster, as Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis takes on Xander Zayas for the unified World championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“We’ll be announcing another show this weekend for July 18 with one of the most exciting young fighters of the world in Los Angeles, before we head to Jeddah for the return of Anthony Joshua against Kristian Prenga before he hopes to fight Tyson Fury in November later this year. And of course, September 5 already announced, over 80,000 people at Croke Park in Ireland for the final fight of Katie Taylor’s incredible career.

“But now we focus on what is for me one of the cards of the year on Saturday night, live and exclusive on DAZN around the world.”

Jesse Rodriguez

“Always ready to go. Always 100 per cent ready mentally, physically. This is just another step in my career. I’ve been training just as hard as any other fight. I never look past any opponent. I know each opponent is coming to take what I have, but I make sure that doesn’t happen every time I step inside the gym and give 110 per cent and I’m just ready to go out there and give the fans a great fight.

“I’m constantly trying to challenge myself. If it’s not a World title fight, then it really doesn’t interest me, even if it’s just a simple defense, it doesn’t get me going inside the gym. So, when I got the opportunity to fight Antonio Vargas for another World title in another weight division, I was on goal right away. Antonio is an Olympian, he’s a World champion, the fact that I’m able to move up to a new weight class and that be my first fight, it means everything to me. I’m ready to go out there and capture the moment.

“I feel like I haven’t even shown 50 per cent of what I’m capable of, but the tougher the opponent, then the better my performance. Antonio is going to bring out another percentage of Bam Rodriguez, and I can’t wait to go out there and show it. I’m feeling much better at this weight class, much sharper, stronger and faster.

“Just expect another spectacular performance and I’m ready to go out there and make it happen.”

Antonio Vargas

“I do believe things are going to go in my favor. I’ve trained hard for this fight, and I look forward to proving to the world who I am. I’m just focused on Bam. I know after I beat him, it opens up so many more doors for me. So, I’m tunnel vision right now and I’m just focused, just to get this win and get that out the way and then whatever comes after that comes.

“I’m really excited. I’ve trained my whole life at this moment, and I believe this will be one of many more moments to come. I’m prepared and I want to give the fans a good fight. I’m fighting one of the best fighters in the boxing right now, so I’m really excited to put a good performance on for the fans.”

Robert Garcia, Rodriguez’s trainer

“I think Bam is ready to compete at 118lbs, we have to look at Vargas as a great challenge, and we always focus on what’s next for us. We don’t look ahead of time because there is that challenge for us. We have to step take it step by step, there’s so much talk about future fights in new way and all that but for us right now, the most important fight is is is Vargas so we don’t look ahead of time, we want to take our time, we want to make sure he he looks and feels good at 118.

“Bam is incredible. His talent, his discipline, he’s so dedicated to the sport and to what he’s doing that I don’t know how far he can take it. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Bam yet, the best still to come, and our first step is Vargas on Saturday. We’ll show what Bam can do and from there everybody will see you we’re not making up stories; they will see that Bam is looking better every single time he steps in the ring.”

Arturo Cardenas

“This time I know I’m really well prepared mentally and physically. So, like last fight, I know I have won that fight, but it happens. I’m more than ready for this fight.

“I don’t really care what he always says about me to be honest. I’m more focused on the fight. I’m more focused on winning this fight and I’m just really happy and anxious for this fight. It’s a must, just get him out the way and now looking on the big fights, getting them belts.”

Jordan Martinez

“I feel like I should have took the first fight. He thinks the same, but I’m just here to show that there’s really levels to this.

“There’s more pressure but it doesn’t phase me, because at the end of the day, the bell rings and it’s me and him only. I’m just ready to fight so we could get this out the way and so I can come out victorious and take what was mine in the first place.

“He didn’t win the last fight at all. I beat his ass with just a jab. That’s what I’m saying. I just beat him with a jab. And this time, he thinks he going to knock me out? He ain’t knocking nobody out. I expect him to apply more pressure, but he’s slow as hell. He can’t even touch me.

“It’s a sportsmanship, I know we’re going all out, and this is going to be a war, but we’re taking that belt back home.

“I just got to get him out the way. He ain’t somebody I’m really chasing. He’s just somebody that has to be in my position so I could get to the next level, and that’s all I’m doing, just moving him out my way.”

Elif Turhan

“I’m very happy to be here. Discipline is everything on boxing. She’s young, I know this, but we will see how great fighter she is. The World championship fight is my target all the time and I got it, but this is not the final destination, I need other belts.

“Everybody talking about this being an easy fight, I don’t think like this because she’s unbeaten, she’s been fighting six, seven, eight before being 19 years old, I know everything about her. I am not relaxed on this fight like unification fights. When I see her eyes, I can understand she is ready to fight. I must defend my belt with war.”

Gabriela Tellez

“Thank you to Matchroom, DAZN, my promoter, BoxLab, I’m ready for this opportunity. I’m not scared of no challenge. This is a big challenge, but everybody got to take that step, and I feel like I’m ready for that. They see a lot of potential in me. I’ve been working with Jose, I’ve been working with Junior Lopez for years now, they know me for years and they know I’m ready for this for this challenge. I could box, I could fight, I could do it all. I feel like you seen it before and you gonna see it again come Saturday night.”

Adrian Rodriguez

“This is everything to me right now. When you talk about this stage and this opportunity, a victory here and in style in front of 12,000 on Saturday night, I’m excited for this. I’m excited to get down and show the people, you know, who the I am. I want to be there, I want to represent, not just by talking about my actions. I know I’m a good fighter. I know I could take him down easily.”

Elias Terraza

“I want to give a thank you to Eddie Hearn and Kevin Rooney from Matchroom for giving me the opportunity to be on a card like this, I can’t wait for Saturday. I’m super excited. Come Saturday night, you guys can expect a KO from me.

“We’re both local fighters. I really don’t know him and I know he doesn’t know me, we’re both from different rival promoters, so I think that’s going to be a big play coming into the fight, seeing who is the better fighter from which promotion, come Saturday night, you guys going to see who who’s going to get the knockout and for sure it’s going to be me.”

VARGAS: BEATING BAM MAKES ME ‘THE MAN’

Antonio Vargas says he’s ready to hand a first pro defeat to Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez and catapult himself into the elite as he defends his WBA World Bantamweight title on Saturday night at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, live worldwide on DAZN.

Vargas (19-1-1 11 KOs) puts his title on the line for the first time and does so in one of the toughest possible assignments in the sport, against two-weight phenom Rodriguez (23-0 16 KOs) who is gunning to become a three-weight World ruler and cement his spot amongst the top names in the pound-for-pound list.

Vargas has other ideas though, and while the 29 year old knows it to be a ‘rough day’ at work in Arizona, the prize for victory on Saturday night goes beyond simply keeping his belt.

“It’s one of the biggest fights right now, against one of the biggest names in the sport,” said Vargas. “I’m looking forward to this fight because after I beat this kid, it’s going to put me where I want to be at. It’s going to be a a good fight for me.

“I look forward to challenging myself, but at the same time, and I know it’s going to be a rough day. This is the the biggest fight of my career, the biggest platform as well.

“I think he’s ranked four on the pound-for-pound list, he’s one of the biggest names right now. It motivates me to train hard and to show the world who I am.

“I remember the words of Eddie Hearn at the launch press conference when he said; ‘you beat Bam, and you’re the man’. That fused me to keep training hard and to give my best for this fight and to show the world who I am.

“I wouldn’t say stop him but beat him. Styles make fights. Bam’s style will force me to use more of my boxing skills, use my pedigree and some of the things that I have inside of me that the world hasn’t seen yet.

“Beating a guy like this, it’ll put me on on a world stage that that I’ve been wanting to fulfill. I want to make that dream into reality. I know after I beat this kid, it’s going to come true. I want this more than anything. And still.”

The 10-round title unification bout will be contested with two-minute rounds at 154lbs and takes place Saturday, August 29, at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, England, live on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN+ in the US. The rarely-ever seen pound-for-pound clash sees ESPN’s #7 Mayer vs. ESPN’s #5 Cameron, putting three world titles on the line in both fighters’ first defenses in the division. Cameron won the WBO super welterweight title with a dominant performance in April 2026, a belt Mayer had won then vacated just months prior, and Mayer now looks to reclaim it alongside her WBA and WBC hardware.

MVPW is a premium brand showcasing the sport’s most elite fighters with championship bouts on every card and will always feature a main card composed entirely of female fighters, with an undercard including a mix of female and male bouts. Reigning unified WBA and WBC super welterweight world champion at 154lbs and the reigning WBO welterweight world champion at 147lbs Mikaela Mayer, 2016 U.S. Olympian, jumped out to a 17-0 record to begin her pro career while winning a pair of super featherweight world titles and becoming a pound-for-pound mainstay. Mayer lost her perfect record in a debated 2022 split decision loss to Alycia Baumgardner in a bid for the undisputed super featherweight title. In January 2024, she contended for the IBF welterweight world title against Natasha Jonas. While a Jonas rematch did not materialize, Mayer seized her second opportunity to become a two-weight world champion in September 2024, when she defeated WBO welterweight world champion Sandy Ryan by majority decision in a Fight of the Year contender. Six months later, Mayer bested Ryan by unanimous decision in Las Vegas, putting an exclamation point on their fierce 20-round rivalry. Mayer conquered a third weight class in October 2025, dominating Canadian star Mary Spencer over 10 rounds in Montreal to capture the WBA, WBC, and WBO junior middleweight titles. Mayer is the #1 ranked super welterweight by ESPN, and is ranked the Ring #3, ESPN #7, and Boxrec #11 pound-for-pound women’s talent globally.

“Chantelle Cameron has always been a name I’ve hoped to add to my resume and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves,” said Mikaela Mayer. “With our come forward, aggressive styles, I have no doubt that it will be one of the most exciting fights of our generation. Giving the fans the fights they wanna see is what I do best…so here you go. Again.”

Reigning WBO super welterweight world champion at 154lbs, #5 pound-for-pound boxer in the world, and former undisputed super lightweight champion at 140lbs Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) is one of the most recognized names in women’s boxing. Cameron made her pro boxing debut in May 2017 and earned her first title honors in December 2017, her fifth pro fight, winning the IBO 135lb lightweight world title by stoppage. In 2020, Cameron moved up to 140lbs to contend for the then-vacant WBC super lightweight world title, defeating Adriana Dos Santos Araujo to become a two-division champion. Cameron unified her titles against Mary McGee in October 2021, earning a UD win to add the IBF and Ring Magazine titles to her WBC hardware. In November 2022, Cameron defeated Jessica McCaskill to become the undisputed super lightweight champion. Cameron’s undisputed reign came to head against Ireland’s Katie Taylor in May 2023, when she successfully defended her undisputed crown. The win set the stage for the pair’s rematch in November 2023, which resulted in a majority decision for Taylor. Cameron returned to the ring in July 2024, defeating Elhem Mekhaled to secure the WBC interim super lightweight title at 140lbs, which she defended twice in November 2024 and on MVP’s Taylor vs. Serrano 3 in July 2025. Cameron then stepped up to 154lbs to claim the then-vacant WBO super welterweight world title with a dominant defeat of Michaela Kotaskova in April 2026 on the main card of MVPW-01 in London. Cameron resides in Northampton, England and trains under Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis. She is the #2 ranked super welterweight in the world by ESPN, and is currently the ESPN #5, Ring #5 and Boxrec #10 pound-for-pound women’s boxer in the world.

“I am over the moon this fight has been made. I asked MVP for this fight and they have delivered,” said Chantelle Cameron. “I’ve always said I want the biggest fights in women’s boxing, and there isn’t a bigger fight right now than me against Mikaela Mayer. We’re both top-five pound-for-pound fighters, we’re both world champions, and we’re both coming to win. I’ve been vocal about wanting to compete under equal rules and fight three-minute rounds, and that’s still something I strongly believe in. But Mikaela is the unified champion at 154 pounds and has made it clear she wants this fight over two-minute rounds, so I respect that. For me, the most important thing was making the biggest fight possible for the sport and giving the fans the matchup they’ve been asking for. Thanks to my team, MVP, and Sky Sports for this huge opportunity. Saturday, August 29th. Let’s go.”

“MVPW-06 UK vs. USA delivers one of the most important fights that can be made in boxing. A pound-for-pound matchup of this magnitude is nearly impossible to make; two of the world’s top ten fighters meeting in their prime, Saturday, August 29, live on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN+ in the U.S.,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron have consistently sought out the toughest challenges available, and this fight is no different. Chantelle is one of the GOATs of women’s boxing, bar none. She went to Ireland and defeated Katie Taylor and almost did it a second time. Mikaela is one of the sport’s biggest faces who has delivered big fights and big ratings. This will be a fight of the year contender. The co-main event features the return of Caroline Dubois, defending her unified titles for the first time against top American contender Amelia Moore as we bring MVP back to the UK and deliver the brand to Birmingham. On the heels of MVPW-05: Johnson vs. Thorslund on Saturday, August 8, MVP is putting together a remarkable month for boxing and continuing to deliver the elite matchups fans deserve.”

WBC lightweight world champion “Sweet” Caroline Dubois fights out of London, England. Her amateur career was nothing short of legendary, a dominant run that included winning the gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, becoming England’s first World Youth Champion (2018), and capturing four European Youth Championship titles between 2016 and 2019. This amateur dominance earned her the prestigious BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2019. In 2021, she represented Team GB at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals. Dubois made her professional debut in February 2022 and quickly established herself in the lightweight division. In September 2023, she earned her first major professional title, winning the vacant IBO lightweight world title via unanimous decision. Her ascent continued in August 2024, when she defeated Maira Moneo to claim the WBC Interim lightweight title. Following a relinquishment of the title, Dubois was elevated to become the WBC lightweight world champion in December 2024. The 25-year-old southpaw successfully retained her titles in 2025, securing a majority decision win against Bo Mi Re Shin in March 2025 before another successful title defense vs. Camilla Panatta on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua in December. In the headlining bout of MVPW-01 in April 2025, she successfully unified titles with then-WBO champion Terri Harper, becoming the new unified WBC and WBO lightweight world champion at 135lbs. She is currently ranked ESPN’s #1 lightweight, as well as ESPN’s #10 and Boxrec’s #12 pound-for-pound talent in the world.

“I’m excited to be fighting in the UK at home again,” said Caroline Dubois. “The crowd in London last time was incredible. I am looking forward to representing the UK on this card and defending my unified titles. The goal is to fight for more belts at the end of the year so I need to focus and take care of business with a big win in Birmingham. Forever blessed and happy Most Valuable Promotions are keeping me active.”

Amelia Moore is an American lightweight boxer, two-time national amateur champion, and former member of Team USA. She began training as a boxer while she was still in high school, continuing to train during two years at the United States Naval Academy, where she was recruited to run track. A member of USA Boxing since 2011, Moore built an impressive amateur and professional career highlighted by national titles at the National Golden Gloves Championships and the USA Boxing National Championships. She also captured gold medals at the Elite National Championships and National PAL Championships, earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Continental Championships in Ecuador, and represented Team USA in international competition around the world. A longtime Olympic hopeful, Moore qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials and served as an alternate for Team USA during the Tokyo Olympic cycle. Moore made her pro debut in November 2024. In March 2026, just her fourth pro fight, she captured the NABF lightweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Bonnie Hunter, She is currently ranked the #5 WBO and #14 WBC contender at 135lbs. She is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“I’ve spent most of my life pursuing this sport. Three Olympic cycles, countless international tournaments, years of learning, growing, and preparing for moments like this. I respect Caroline and the path she’s taken to become world champion,” said Amelia Moore. “That’s what makes this opportunity so meaningful. When the best are willing to face the best, everybody wins. August 29th is bigger than a title fight. It’s another step forward for women’s boxing, and I’m honored to be part of it.”

Farmer (7-1-2, 4 KOs) headlined the show with an impressive unanimous decision victory over Newark veteran Michael “Slick” Anderson (25-5-1, 19 KOs). The 25-year-old switch-hitter from Lindenwold, New Jersey earned scores of 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73 after displaying speed, combination punching and ring generalship throughout the eight-round main event. It was a much needed win for Farmer as he was coming off his first defeat and two draws in his last three fights.

In the co-main event, Newark’s Anthony Johns (12-1, 6 KOs) captured the vacant IBF North America junior bantamweight title with a hard-fought split decision victory over Mexico’s Angel Geovanny Meza Morales (11-5-3, 7 KOs).

Johns prevailed by scores of 98-92 and 96-94, while the third judge favored Morales by a score of 99-91 in a competitive ten-round battle. The former National Golden Gloves champion applied steady pressure and effective body work in the late rounds to secure the victory. The victory in his first ten-round fight places Johns in position to pursue higher rankings and bigger opportunities in the 115-pound division.

One of the evening’s most impressive performances came from undefeated Philadelphia prospect Juan Rivera V, who improved to 11-0 (5 KOs) with a dominant unanimous decision over Chuckie Driver (12-2, 7 KOs). Rivera’s sharp combinations, movement and body punching carried him to scores of 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90.

Newark’s Muadh Abdus-Salaam continued his rise through the professional ranks, improving to 5-0 (2 KOs) with a third-round stoppage of Michael Ruiz (2-10-2). The former Delaware State University football standout scored a first-round knockdown and controlled the action throughout before forcing the stoppage. His younger brother Zahir Abdus-Salaam (4-0, 1 KO), a former Western Michigan University running back, needed just 20 seconds to stop Caleb Dodson (0-2) of Oklahoma, scoring a knockout with a perfectly timed left hook.

Fellow Newark prospect Yoel “Boy Boy” Cooper remained unbeaten, improving to 2-0 (2 KOs) with a second-round knockout of Ricardo Elizalde (0-3). The 18-year-old showcased poise beyond his years, breaking down his opponent behind a consistent jab before earning the stoppage 56 seconds into the second round.

Former amateur rivals Bernard Gardner (1-1-1, 1 KO) and Famous Wilson (4-0-1, 2 KOs) fought to an entertaining four-round draw, with all three judges returning identical 38-38 scorecards.

Linden’s Tayvon Fish made a successful professional debut after nearly nine years away from competition, stopping Rahmel McKinley (1-4) with a body shot in the second round of their welterweight contest.

Elizabeth cruiserweight Vladimir Dalton improved to 3-0 (1 KO) with a first-round knockout of previously unbeaten Ibrahima Fofana (2-1, 2 KOs), while Daniel Ivanovski improved to 6-0 (4 KOs) with a unanimous decision victory over Najm Khan (1-1) in the evening’s opening bout.

H2O EAGER TO MAKE STATEMENT AGAINST FORMER WORLD CHAMPION JOJO DIAZ IN HOMETOWN HEADLINER JUNE 19

LONG BEACH, CA (June 9, 2026) – Long Beach native H2O (14-1, 11 KOs) is preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career as he returns to his hometown to face former two-time world champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz (34-9-1, 15 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round super lightweight main event on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. The event, titled “Pugilist Revolution,” marks the first American boxing card promoted by MF PRO and will be streamed live worldwide on DAZN.

For H2O, the matchup represents an opportunity to reassert himself as one of boxing’s brightest young talents and move one step closer to becoming a legitimate world title contender. At just 25 years old, the heavy-handed southpaw views the bout as a defining moment in his career.

As fight night approaches, H2O says he has enjoyed one of the strongest training camps of his professional career while preparing in familiar surroundings. Providing an update on camp, H2O credited the work being done at Jack Rabbit Boxing alongside his father and trainer, Ivan Sylve, for helping him reach another level.

“Training camp has been great,” said H2O. “Being able to train at my home gym, Jack Rabbit Boxing, with my dad, Ivan, by my side has been huge for me. He knows me better than anyone and always knows how to get the best out of me. We’ve worked hard every day, and I’ve been completely focused on this fight from the start. I’m in great shape, I’m feeling sharp, and my confidence is high. We’ve approached this camp like we’re preparing for a title fight because that’s where I see myself heading. I feel stronger, smarter, and more focused than I’ve ever been, and I’m ready to show that on June 19.”

Standing across the ring will be one of the most experienced opponents of Sylve’s career in former world champion JoJo Diaz. Discussing the matchup, H2O expressed respect for Diaz’s accomplishments while making it clear that he intends to prove he belongs among the sport’s rising stars.

“JoJo Diaz has had a tremendous career and accomplished things that every fighter dreams about,” H2O said. “He’s been a world champion, fought top-level competition, and has been in some big fights. I respect everything he’s done in this sport. At the same time, this is boxing, and every generation has its moment. I believe this is my time to show that I’m ready to take that next step. I know JoJo is coming in motivated, but I’m motivated too. I expect a tough fight because experienced fighters know how to make adjustments, but I’m prepared for whatever he brings. This is the type of challenge I’ve been asking for because beating a fighter of JoJo’s caliber can prove that I belong in the conversation with the best fighters in the division.”

With both fighters entering the bout at pivotal stages of their careers, H2O understands the significance of securing a victory. Speaking about what a win would mean, Sylve emphasized that his long-term goals remain unchanged despite experiencing setbacks along the way.

“A win over a former two-time world champion would be huge for my career,” H2O continued. “I’ve always believed that one loss doesn’t define a fighter. What defines you is how you respond to adversity. This fight gives me an opportunity to show that I’ve learned, grown, and come back even stronger. A victory puts me right back on the path toward becoming a world title contender and opens the door to bigger opportunities. More importantly, it would show everyone that I’m still one of the most dangerous young fighters in boxing. My goal has always been to become a world champion, and this fight is an important step toward making that dream a reality.”

The opportunity to headline a major event in his hometown while performing in front of a worldwide audience has provided additional motivation for the Long Beach standout. When discussing fighting at home and on DAZN, H2O spoke passionately about representing his city on one of boxing’s biggest platforms.

“There’s no better feeling than fighting in front of your hometown fans,” concluded H2O. “Long Beach has supported me from the very beginning, and it’s an honor to come back and headline a big event here. These are the people who watched me grow up, develop as a fighter, and chase my dreams. I want to give them a performance they can be proud of. Having the fight broadcast live on DAZN makes it even more special because fans from around the world will be watching. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and I plan on making the most of it. I want everyone tuning in to see the hard work I’ve put in and understand that I’m coming for a spot among the top fighters in the super lightweight division.”

Back and Forth: Seldon vs Popper Sat Night In AC in their own words

**Bruce Seldon Jr. vs. Josh Popper, heavyweight**

Two undefeated South Jersey heavyweights met face-to-face this week ahead of their June 13 collision in Atlantic City. Seldon Jr. (8-0, 6 KO) and Popper (7-0, 6 KO) spent nearly half an hour trading on experience, family legacy, last fights, and which corner has been doing the talking. Quotes below are cleared for publication.

—–

BRUCE SELDON JR. (8-0, 6 KO)

**Mindset:**

“He’s probably my most in-shape opponent. Outside of that, we’re going to go in there, do what we’re supposed to do, and keep going up the ladder.”

**On accepting the fight:**

“They said our name about three times, and every single time we said yes. There was an excuse every time, for some odd reason. I’m just happy he finally took it.”

**On how it got signed:**

“None of that came from our side. They said send the contract, we printed it out, we signed it, and we sent it right back. We were ready since day one.”

**On Popper bringing up an old football game:**

“All I can do is laugh. It’s corny to bring up a football game from about fourteen years ago. If I was such a non-factor, there would be no reason for him to keep bringing me up. What Josh Popper thinks about me, that’s the real non-factor.”

**On the experience gap:**

“These are two very new guys in boxing. It’s not one skilled fighter against an athlete. It’s two novice boxers who happen to be professional and undefeated, on a collision course. The experience level is very similar.”

“I’m not going to sit back and listen to lies. They keep overstating that he has all this amateur experience, and it’s just overstated.”

**On his last fight:**

“That was a tough fight, and I made it tough on myself. But I showed that when I have nothing in the tank, I can dig deep and make it happen.”

**On Popper coaching while fighting:**

“That’s cute. I salute anyone making money in the sport. But all my focus is going toward my own craft. However he splits his focus, that’s on him.”

**On carrying his father’s name:**

“It’s just me getting in that ring. The name has opened certain doors I’m thankful for, but on fight night it does nothing for me. I don’t think about it at all.”

“My dad is in town for every fight, but he’s being a good father. If he was in the building, I wouldn’t have a single camera on me, and he knows that.”

**On Popper as an opponent:**

“Of all the opponents I’ve had so far, he’s probably in the best shape, and probably the most athletic too. But I haven’t seen anything that stands out to me.”

**Prediction:**

“I’m planning on a stoppage. Whatever round I land a good one, it’s over.”

**If the night goes the other way:**

“We don’t believe in losses. We only believe in lessons. This train doesn’t stop. But we don’t think we’re losing.”

—–

JOSH POPPER (7-0, 6 KO)

**Mindset:**

“This is another fight. The plan is to keep rising through the ranks and better my competition every fight. It’s another day at the office.”

**On the so-called excuses:**

“His manager came up to me after my last fight, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, after Bruce gets another tune-up fight, then we’ll be ready for you. So I’m confused about what excuses he means.”

**On how the fight came together:**

“Somebody asked me about fighting Bruce, and I said yes, that would be an amazing fight for the city. All of a sudden that got turned into me presenting a challenge. We’re here now, and I like to do my talking in the ring.”

**On his amateur background:**

“I learned a lot in the amateurs. I’ve been in the ring with a bunch of different skill levels. I plan on putting that on display. Amateurs, baby, it’s all about experience.”

**On his last fight:**

“He carried me? You’re right. You know what I did? I stuck to my jab and I fought beautifully.”

**On running Bredwinners:**

“It gives me an opportunity to be around boxing more. I’m a coach myself, so I have a coach’s eye, and I break down film. I coach nationally ranked amateurs, top-ranked amateurs in the state, and world champion fighters. That pedigree speaks for itself.”

**Man to man with Seldon:**

“Man to man, I don’t have any beef with you. We’re grown men, this is what we do, and we’ll dap it up after, no love lost. My first amateur opponent became one of my close friends. The thing is, your manager and your coach are the ones who keep talking, and it’s not coming from you.”

**The headline line:**

“We’re going to fight on June 13th. May the best man win, and I’d love to shake your hand after. As far as your team, I’ve got zero respect for your team.”

**On the family name across from him:**

“His dad doesn’t even show up. Why would I be worried about his dad? This is between me and Bruce.”

**Prediction:**

“I don’t like to make predictions. I just know I’m getting my hand raised at the end of the fight. However that happens, that’s what’s going to happen.”

**If the night goes the other way:**

“I’m not going to lose. But hypothetically, back to the drawing board. There’s no sweet answer for that one.”

RAYMOND MURATALLA DEFENDS IBF LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD TITLE AGAINST FORMER CHAMPION ROBSON CONCEIÇÃO IN EXPLOSIVE CO-MAIN EVENT TO ROACH JR. VS. ZEPEDA

LAS VEGAS (June 8, 2026) — Raymond “Danger” Muratalla (24-0, 17 KOs) will make the second defense of his IBF Lightweight World Championship against Brazilian former world champion Robson “O Brabo” Conceição (21-3-1, 10 KOs).

Muratalla-Conceição will serve as the co-feature to the Roach Jr. vs. Zepeda card on Saturday, Aug. 1, at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This fight is presented by Top Rank.

“After my last fight, the boxing world really got to know who I am,” said Raymond Muratalla. “People saw me as the underdog, even though I was the champion, and I showed that I can’t be underestimated. Now I’m defending my title against another Olympic gold medalist, and I plan to look even better. I’m focused, I’m ready, and I’m handling business on August 1.”

“They said it was impossible when I dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal,” said Robson Conceição. “They said that when I pursued my first world title. I accomplished both, and it’s no different now. I have a lot of respect for Raymond Muratalla, but I’m ready for this challenge. I want to prove that determination, experience and the heart of a champion can overcome any obstacle. On August 1, I will fight for myself, for my family and for all of Brazil.”

“Raymond Muratalla has solidified himself as one of the top lightweights in the world. His recent decisive victory against Andy Cruz reinforced his elite status in boxing,” said Top Rank President, Todd duBoef. “This upcoming defense against Olympic Gold medalist and former world champion Robson Conceição will have the fans entertained from the first bell. This bout is an excellent addition to the August installment of TNT Sports and DAZN’s ‘The Fight’ series, which is delivering quality compelling matches for fight fans throughout the world.”

Headlining the TNT Sports and DAZN’s “The Fight,” a new monthly live boxing series, Lamont “The Reaper” Roach Jr. (25-1-3, 10 KOs) of Washington D.C. and Mexican sensation William “El Camarón” Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) will battle for the vacant WBC Lightweight World Championship. The broadcast will air co-exclusively in the United States on TNT and truTV and worldwide on DAZN and is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in co-promotion with TGB Promotions and ProBox Promotions.

Roach Jr. vs. Zepeda is on sale and is priced at $300, $200, $150, $75, $50 and $30 plus applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased at AXS.com or GoldenBoy.com.

Additional information on the undercard and media credentials will be announced in the coming weeks.

Muratalla, from Fontana, California, debuted as a pro in 2016 and steadily rose the lightweight ranks. His standout performances include second-round stoppages of big-punching Jeremia Nakathila in May 2023 and Jesus Perez in November 2024. In May 2025, Muratalla defeated Zaur Abdullaev to become the interim IBF lightweight world champion. He was elevated to full champion the following month after Vasiliy Lomachenko announced his retirement. In February, he outpointed Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz to retain his crown in his best performance to date.

Conceição, Brazil’s first Olympic boxing gold medalist, repeatedly challenged the sport’s elite before winning a world title on his fourth attempt. After setbacks to Oscar Valdez and Shakur Stevenson, he battled Emanuel Navarrete to a majority draw in November 2023 before edging O’Shaquie Foster to capture the WBC junior lightweight world title in July 2024. Conceição lost the belt to Foster in their rematch that November but has since scored two victories at home.

Unbeaten Russian puncher Artem Suslenkov to lock horns with Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce on Gassiev vs Yoka undercard on July 11 at IBA Pro 19 in Moscow

Moscow, RUSSIA – Unbeaten heavyweight contender Artem Suslenkov will take on Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce on July 11 as part of the blockbuster IBA Pro 19 card headlined by Murat Gassiev’s WBA Heavyweight title defence against Tony Yoka in Moscow.

Suslenkov (14-0, 9 KOs) will look to cement his status as a genuine world-level heavyweight when he faces off against the formidable Joyce over ten rounds, with the WBA Continental Heavyweight title up for grabs for the winner.

The Volgograd-born banger has blasted his way to a perfect professional record since his debut in December 2018, but faces the stiffest test of his career so far against the vastly experienced, heavy-handed ‘Juggernaut’, who himself will be eyeing a return to world championship contention with a win on away soil.

After an impressive third-round TKO of former world-title challenger Artur Mann back in April, another eye-catching showing against the battle-hardened Joyce could see the 30-year-old in line for a shot at the winner of July 11’s main event, and with it, a potential all-Russian showdown with WBA kingpin Gassiev.

“Joyce is a powerful opponent with strong technique and vast experience,” said Suslenkov, who is currently ranked at #9 in the WBA Heavyweight ratings.

“This is a serious challenge. I feel both excitement and full focus. Meticulous preparation and the right tactics to neutralise his strengths will be crucial.

“This is a chance to show my level and give the fans something to cheer about. Joyce is a strong, pressure-fighting heavyweight with heavy hands and a great deal of experience.

“It is an honour for me to box on the card headlined by Murat Gassiev, who is defending his WBA Heavyweight title against Tony Yoka. This is a prestigious event, a major audience, and an opportunity to prove myself at the highest level.”

Putney puncher Joyce (16-4, 15 KOs), however, has aspirations of his own, and will enter July 11’s showpiece event with the knowledge that a win over Suslenkov could see the 6ft 6” giant back in line for a shot at one of the heavyweight division’s leading names.

With a slew of dominant stoppage victories on his CV – including dominant KO wins over current WBO Heavyweight challenger Daniel Dubois and former titleholder Joseph Parker, among others – Joyce has established himself as one of the heavyweight division’s most recognisable names.

Now under the guidance of esteemed trainer Javon ‘Sugar Hill’ Steward, Joyce will travel to Moscow fully confident of springing the upset and re-establishing himself as a top dog in boxing’s marquee division.

“I’ve spent the last year preparing, training and wanting to be back in the ring,” said Joyce.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to travel to Russia and challenge for the WBA Continental Heavyweight title on July 11.

“Thank you to IBA Pro for the opportunity. My team and I are locked in and Moscow should get ready for a big performance.”

Suslenkov vs Joyce is the latest heavy-hitting match-up confirmed for the July 11 extravaganza, with further announcements on the undercard to take place in the coming weeks.

With a host of top international talent and established world-class competitors all vying to steal the show, the event – headlined by Ossetia icon Gassiev’s first WBA Heavyweight title defence – looks set to be one of the standout nights of 2026.

IBA Pro 19 is promoted by IB Challenger, Epic Sports & Entertainment, Patriot Promotion, Ural Boxing Promotions, Queensberry, and Yoka Boxing, in association with Winline.

GABRIELA “SOSA” TELLEZ TO CHALLENGE ELIF NUR TURHAN FOR IBF LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD TITLE JUNE 13 IN GLENDALE, AZ

GLENDALE, AZ (June 5, 2026) – Boxlab Promotions’ undefeated lightweight contender Gabriela “Sosa” Tellez (7-0, 3 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas, will face the biggest challenge of her young professional career when she takes on IBF Lightweight World Champion, Elif Nur Turhan (13-0, 8 KOs) of Istanbul, Türkiye, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The 10-round world title showdown will be featured as part of an action-packed card promoted by Matchroom Boxing in association with Boxlab Promotions and will stream live worldwide on DAZN.

For Tellez, the opportunity represents the realization of a lifelong dream. After compiling an undefeated professional record and steadily climbing the lightweight ranks, the talented Texan now stands one victory away from becoming a world champion. As she prepares for the most important night of her boxing journey, Tellez says the magnitude of the moment has only strengthened her determination.

Speaking about her first opportunity to fight for a world championship, Tellez reflected on the years of sacrifice that brought her to this stage.

“This is everything I’ve worked for since I first stepped into a boxing gym,” said Tellez. “Every early morning run, every hard sparring session, every sacrifice my family and I made has led to this opportunity. To be fighting for my first world title is a dream come true. I want to seize the moment and bring that championship belt home. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and I’m approaching this fight with complete focus and gratitude. I’ve visualized this moment for years, and now that it’s here, I’m ready to prove that I belong among the best fighters in the world.”

Training under renowned coach Jose Benavidez Sr. in Arizona has provided Tellez with the confidence and preparation she believes will be necessary against an undefeated champion-caliber opponent. Providing an update on training camp, Tellez praised the work being done behind the scenes as she enters the final stages of preparation.

“Training camp has been incredible,” Tellez stated. “Working with Jose Benavidez Sr. and the entire team has pushed me to another level both physically and mentally. We’ve studied every aspect of Turhan’s style and have built a game plan that brings out the best in me. Every day in camp has been about improving, learning, and preparing for a world championship atmosphere. I feel stronger, faster, and more confident than ever before. The work has already been done, and now it’s about staying focused and bringing everything together on fight night. This will be the best version of Gabriela Tellez that the fans have ever seen.”

While the world title is the immediate goal, Tellez understands that a victory would have a far-reaching impact on both her career and the community that has supported her from the beginning. Discussing what winning the IBF title would mean, Tellez spoke passionately about representing her hometown of San Antonio.

“Winning this title would change my life, but it would also mean so much to the people who have supported me from day one,” said Tellez. “San Antonio has always embraced fighters who work hard and represent the city with pride. I want young girls and young athletes back home to see that no dream is too big if you’re willing to work for it. Becoming a world champion would open new doors in my career, but more importantly, it would give me the chance to inspire others. I want my story to show people that success is possible no matter where you come from. Bringing a world championship back to San Antonio would be one of the proudest moments of my life.”

The June 13 event will mark the highest-profile appearance of Tellez’s career, with boxing fans from around the globe watching live on DAZN. When discussing the opportunity to perform on a worldwide platform, Tellez embraced the spotlight and the responsibility that comes with it.

“This is the kind of stage every fighter dreams about,” Tellez said. “Millions of people will have the chance to watch this fight on DAZN, and I’m excited to show the world my God given talent. I don’t look at the spotlight as pressure…I look at it as an opportunity. This platform gives me a chance to showcase my skills, my heart, and everything I’ve worked so hard to achieve. I want fans tuning in from Texas, from across the United States, and from around the world to see a fighter who refuses to back down from a challenge. Fighting on a stage like this motivates me to perform at my absolute best and leave no doubt that I belong at the championship level.”

Boxlab Promotions President Amaury Piedra expressed his excitement about Tellez reaching the world championship stage and praised her dedication throughout her professional journey.

“We couldn’t be happier for Gabriela and everything she has accomplished to earn this opportunity,” said Piedra. “From the moment she joined Boxlab Promotions, we saw someone with tremendous talent, determination, and a genuine passion for the sport. She has grown tremendously with each fight, and her development both inside and outside the ring has been remarkable. This is the her time to shine.

“It’s Me Again!” Former Two-Division World Champion Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade Returns July 24 at Mohegan Sun Arena

PROVIDENCE, RI – One of the greatest world champions to come out of Rhode Island is back.

Former two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs) will make his highly anticipated return to the ring on Friday, July 24, headlining CES Boxing’s Championship Jackpot 2026 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The event marks Andrade’s first bout under a new partnership with CES Boxing, bringing together one of the most accomplished fighters ever produced by Rhode Island and the state’s most successful boxing promoter.

Tickets for CES Boxing’s Championship Jackpot 2026 are on sale now at Cesfights.com.  Doors open at 5pm with the first bout scheduled for 6pm.

A native of Providence, Andrade enjoyed one of the most decorated amateur careers in American boxing history before turning professional in 2008.  His amateur accomplishments culminated with representing the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he competed against the world’s best fighters after capturing numerous national and international titles.

As a professional, Andrade quickly established himself as one of boxing’s elite talents.  In 2013, he captured his first world championship by defeating fellow unbeaten contender Vanes Martirosyan for the vacant WBO Super Welterweight World Championship.

After dominating the 154-pound division, Andrade moved up to middleweight in 2017 and captured a second world title one year later, delivering a masterful 12-round shutout of the previously unbeaten Walter Kautondokwa to win the vacant WBO Middleweight World Championship before a passionate New England crowd at Boston’s TD Garden.

Andrade successfully defended his middleweight crown five times, cementing his status as one of boxing’s premier champions before moving up to the super middleweight division in 2023.  The July 24 showdown will mark his first appearance since November of that year.

“Demetrius Andrade is one of the greatest fighters ever to come out of New England and one of the most accomplished athletes Rhode Island has ever produced,” said CES Boxing Founder and President Jimmy Burchfield Sr. “This is a special moment for CES Boxing and for boxing fans throughout the region. We’re proud to partner with Demetrius and help launch the next chapter of his remarkable career.”

The main event will be supported by an explosive undercard featuring many of Connecticut’s top rising stars.

In a battle of unbeaten middleweight prospects, Stamford’s Douglas “El Uno” Marroquin (10-0, 6 KOs) faces fellow undefeated Connecticut standout Daine Smikle (4-0, 1 KO) in a matchup with significant implications for the state’s thriving middleweight scene.

Also in action, Stamford light heavyweight Slawomir “Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz (7-1, 6 KOs) returns looking to rebound from the lone defeat of his professional career when he squares off against hard-hitting Russ Kimber of Peabody, Massachusetts.

Several of Connecticut’s most exciting young prospects are also in action, including Stratford’s Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm (7-1, 6 KOs), Branford’s Gianni Liguori (5-0-1, 4 KOs), New Haven’s Carlos Perez (6-0, 1 KO) and Hamden’s Anthony Nieves (2-0, 1 KO).

Additional bouts and Andrade’s opponent will be announced in the coming weeks.

IRELAND’S AARON MCKENNA TAKES ON ETINOSA OLIHA IN MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT FROM 3ARENA IN DUBLIN ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 8

June 5, 2026 – Zuffa Boxing heads to Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday, August 8, for a stacked summer showdown featuring undefeated Irish middleweight stars Aaron McKenna, who will be making his long-awaited first professional fight in Ireland, and “King” Callum Walsh, the popular southpaw from nearby Cork.

The 12-round main event of ZUFFA BOXING 10: MCKENNA VS. OLIHA features a middleweight world championship fight between a pair of unbeaten talents. McKenna (20-0, 10 KOs) takes on Italy’s Etinosa Oliha (22-0, 10 KOs) in the first middleweight world title fight on Irish soil in more than three decades. This will mark the first fight for McKenna in his home country where he was a standout amateur with more than 150 wins and eight national championships. McKenna, 26, returns to the ring following a dominating decision victory over former world champion Liam Smith in April 2025. The 27-year-old Oliha will look to spoil McKenna’s homecoming as he takes on the fifth unbeaten fighter of his professional career.

In the 10-round co-feature, Callum Walsh (16-0, 11 KOs) returns to 3Arena, where he first fought in 2024 and earned a memorable second-round knockout victory over Przemyslaw Runowski. In his second fight under the Zuffa Boxing banner, the 25-year-old Walsh will take on England’s Tyler Denny (21-4-3, 1 KO), a fellow southpaw who has faced 10 undefeated fighters and competed in nearly three times as many professional rounds.

Additional information on the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

Media can apply for credentials to the event via Access

The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada.

Bruce “2.0” Seldon Jr.: From a Champion’s Son to Heavyweight Headliner

**ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.** — On Saturday, June 13, undefeated heavyweight Bruce “2.0” Seldon Jr. (8-0, 6 KOs) headlines a Boxing Insider Promotions card at the Tropicana Atlantic City Showroom against fellow unbeaten South Jersey heavyweight Josh “The Hammer” Popper (7-0, 6 KOs). It is the kind of all-local, all-undefeated main event the sport rarely produces, and for Seldon it is a chance to prove the name on his trunks belongs to him as much as it does to his father.

That name carries weight in Atlantic City. Bruce Seldon Sr., “The Atlantic City Express,” won the vacant WBA heavyweight championship in 1995, stopping former IBF titleholder Tony Tucker, and retired with a record of 40-8 and 36 knockouts. His son grew up a few miles inland in Smithville and graduated from Absegami High School. Now he is building his own career on the same stretch of shore where his father became a world champion.

Seldon Jr. came to boxing late and without an amateur background, turning professional in 2024 in his late twenties. What he lacked in pedigree he has made up for in power. He has stopped six of his eight opponents and become a fixture in his home market, appearing on six previous Boxing Insider shows where his come-forward style and finishing instinct have made him a local favorite. He trains at the Pleasantville Recreation Center under Julio Sanchez and is guided by managers Jim Kurtz and David Dubinsky of DKO Boxing.

By his own account, this camp has been different. “This is the strongest, the fastest, the calmest I’ve been probably my entire career,” Seldon told Josh Hennig on 97.3 ESPN. He points to his most recent fight as the turning point, an experience he has called eye-opening. “I promised myself and my team that I would never get into another ring again if I wasn’t 100 percent ready,” he said. “Coming into this one, I’m just making good on my word.”

Those changes started in the gym. Seldon describes a camp built on consistency and focus, one where he stayed disciplined and let his corner reshape the way he fights. The pressure and power that made his name are still there, but they now sit underneath a more patient, calculated approach designed to carry him deeper into a fight against an opponent who will not fold.

The version of himself he plans to bring on June 13 is one he says no one has seen yet. Known as a pressure fighter hunting the knockout, Seldon says he has spent this camp learning to box, to set traps and pick his spots rather than simply walk his man down. “At the end of the day, boxing is chess, not checkers,” he said. He credits his corner for the growth and makes no apology for leaning on it. “I would be a true idiot, especially in this sport, not to listen,” he said. “I don’t have all the answers. You’ve got to be coachable.”

Popper has promised to walk into a storm of pressure, and Seldon is happy to confirm it is coming. “Of course I’m going to bring the pressure. That’s what I do,” he said. “Just because he’s expecting that doesn’t mean he’s going to be able to stop it.” He believes the night will be the hardest of Popper’s career. “He should be expecting the toughest fight he’s gotten into in his entire career,” Seldon said.

The matchup carries the kind of personal edge only a hyper-local main event can. The two men grew up minutes apart and attended rival high schools, Seldon at Absegami and Popper at Holy Spirit, and Popper has needled him about a high school football game from more than a decade ago. Seldon waves it off. “Whatever he did on the field 13, 14 years ago, good for him,” he said. “That’s a team sport. I didn’t even play football that year. Regardless, you’re not going to be able to bring your team into the ring with you on June 13th.”

“Bruce Seldon has been on six previous Boxing Insider shows and has made quite the impression on the local market with his KO power,” said promoter Larry Goldberg of Boxing Insider Promotions. “When this fight was presented to him, he didn’t hesitate to say yes.”

Seldon Jr. vs. Popper headlines a stacked seven-fight card on Saturday, June 13 at the Tropicana Atlantic City Showroom, first bell 7:30 PM ET. Two undefeated South Jersey heavyweights, a hometown crowd, and a building that Boxing Insider Promotions has turned back into the home of Atlantic City boxing. This is the fight the region has been asking for, and somebody’s zero has to go. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Get yours before the room sells out: ?

KATIE TAYLOR LANDS HISTORIC CROKE PARK UNDISPUTED WORLD TITLE FAREWELL AGAINST FLORA PILI ON SEP 5 – LIVE WORLDWIDE ON DAZN

A fairytale ending in the storied career of Ireland’s greatest ever athlete Katie Taylor is today confirmed for Saturday, September 5 – live worldwide on DAZN – at Dublin’s iconic Croke Park as she defends her WBO, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine titles and fights for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight Championship in a historic Undisputed clash against France’s undefeated Flora Pili.

Eddie Hearn for Matchroom Boxing, in association with Aiken Promotions, Brian Peters and Title Event Partner, Lidl Ireland, made the monumental announcement at a launch press conference today in an event that will undoubtedly bring the nation to a standstill.

Tickets will officially be released on sale next week via Ticketmaster, Friday June 12, priced from €38.70, with Family ticket packages (seated in a non-alcohol area in the stadium) priced at €125.50. Full details – including on-sale dates and service charges – are provided below.

Backed by Title Event Partner Lidl Ireland, the leading retailer is getting in the ring to support Katie as she fulfils her ambition to bring female boxing to Croke Park and break barriers in elevating female sport.

The legendary London 2012 Olympic Gold Medallist and two-weight queen of boxing (25-1, 6 KOs) returns to home shores for what promises to be a special night in front of over 80,000 supporters at the Ireland’s premier concert and events venue – where she will bid to become a three-time Undisputed champion of the world.

It will be the first time a professional boxing event has been staged at the historic Dublin home of the Gaelic Athletic Association since the late, great Muhammad Ali famously fought Detroit heavyweight Alvin ‘Blue’ Lewis back in 1972.

A thrilled Taylor – who will this Saturday embark on a four-day promotional tour of Ireland, starting in her hometown of Bray, County Wicklow, before reaching Dublin and other major cities including Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Belfast in Northern Ireland – has thanked all those who have made this iconic September 5 showcase possible, promising to deliver a Fight Night for the ages to her loyal faithful.

Taylor said“This seems like the perfect way to end it – by becoming Undisputed Champion again in our national stadium which has such a special place in Irish hearts. I’m so grateful that it’s happening and I can’t thank the people of this country enough for the support I have received over the years.

“People have travelled all around the world to follow my career and I’m hoping I can repay some of that with a big performance on September 5. I’m under no illusions that Flora will present a very tough challenge, she’s undefeated as a professional and has a good amateur pedigree so I have the utmost respect for her.

“I’ve been blessed to achieve more than I could ever have dreamed in this sport but fighting at Croke Park really is the icing on the cake. I hope it’s the kind of event that will inspire a whole new generation to take up sport and follow their passions –  that for me would be the greatest legacy I could leave.”

News on a blockbuster undercard will follow in due course – and Matchroom Sport Chairman, Eddie Hearn expects it to be an evening that will be permanently etched in sporting folklore.

“This is an incredibly proud moment for Matchroom,”said Hearn.

“For everything Katie Taylor has accomplished, and for all those she has inspired along the way, it is absolutely beyond deserved. From turning over as a professional a decade ago, to fighting in the most iconic stadiums around the world and making history at Madison Square Garden, she’s done it all. What a magical adventure it has been. Getting here to Croke Park has been years in the making. But we were never giving up on delivering this dream.

“And to end this special journey together by becoming a three-time Undisputed Champion of the World is indeed the perfect farewell to what has been an extraordinary fairytale. The noise when Katie Taylor walks out in front of Croke Park on September 5 – live on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN – will reverberate around the world. She is the ultimate trailblazer for this amazing sport. She is a living legend.”

Title Event Partner Lidl Ireland Chief Executive Officer Robert Ryan said: “For more than a decade we have championed female sport in Ireland through our partnership with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) and we’re very much recognised across the country for breaking barriers, pushing boundaries and elevating female sport to the position it so rightly deserves.

“There’s no question that Katie Taylor is the greatest athlete Ireland has ever seen and this clash will be the defining fight the country has been waiting for. This is the fight that fans have to see and we’re very proud to help provide that visibility and that platform. Our decade-long work in supporting the LGFA has always been to elevate the sport and its players and we’re very proud to further that cause and ‘Get Behind the Fight’ for Katie at Croker – a legendary fighter, an iconic venue and a defining moment for Irish female sport.”

Taylor’s long-standing manager Brian Peters expects a packed Croke Park to roar Taylor to triumph in her date with destiny, insisting it will be the perfect setting for the Irish hero to become a three-time Undisputed Champion.

Peters said: “This is a fitting, final chapter to what has been one of sport’s great fairytales. From dreaming about winning Olympic Gold medals in a sport that didn’t even exist to completely transforming her sport. Katie has broken global audience records and featured in some of the most iconic venues in fights that will be forever remembered. She’s reigned as a World Champion for 20 years and it’s been the most remarkable journey.

“She has seen and done it all but winning back her Undisputed title at Croke Park will truly top everything that has come before. I’ve no doubt Flora Pili will be prepared for the fight of her life but she will need to be because in front of a packed Croke Park, Katie will stop at nothing to make sure she becomes Undisputed Champion again.”

France’s unbeaten Pili is ready to spoil the party, however, with the 12-0 (2 KOs) WBC mandatory challenger determined to write her own name in lights by causing an almighty upset.

Pili said:“Katie Taylor is one of the greatest champions in the history of women’s boxing, and I have tremendous respect for everything she has achieved. Facing a legend like her represents the biggest opportunity of my career. On September 5, I will step into the ring fully prepared and ready to embrace this challenge in my quest to become the undisputed world champion.”

Pre-sale tickets for Matchroom Boxing Fight Pass members opens at 9am on Wednesday, June 10. Lidl customers with the Lidl Plus App can purchase on Pre-Sale exclusively from 10am via the Lidl Plus App, with Croke Park residents able to purchase from 10am also. General sale goes live at 9am on Friday, June 12. Cusack/Davin and Hogan stand prices start at €38.70 – with tickets for a family of four (in a non-alcohol area of the stadium) at €125.50. Pitchside prices range from €106.25 to €1,505.50. All tickets via Ticketmaster are subject to a max service charge of €10.50.

The fight will be available to watch live on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN – and VP of DAZN, Alfie Sharman added: “Katie Taylor fighting at Croke Park is one of the most significant moments in Irish sporting history. This is a homecoming that reflects a truly storied career — one built on excellence, resilience and titles. Fighting at Croke Park, in front of her legions of fans and returning to the country that shaped that journey, is a moment years in the making, and DAZN is proud to bring this landmark fight night to audiences around the world.”

AMATEUR STANDOUT KAYLA “THE TRUTH” GOMEZ SET FOR PROFESSIONAL DEBUT ON MF PRO’S “PUGILIST REVOLUTION” JUNE 19 IN LONG BEACH

EL PASO, TX (June 4, 2026) – One of the most promising young talents in women’s boxing is ready to begin the next chapter of her fighting career as amateur standout Kayla “The Truth” Gomez of El Paso, Texas, makes her highly anticipated professional debut on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

Gomez will face an opponent to be announced in a scheduled four-round super flyweight contest as part of MF Pro’s inaugural United States event, “Pugilist Revolution,” which will be televised live on DAZN.

After compiling an impressive amateur résumé, Gomez established herself as one of Team USA’s top prospects by capturing the first-ever Junior Pan American Games female flyweight gold medal in 2021. Her historic achievement, combined with her relentless work ethic, technical skill, and competitive spirit, earned her recognition as one of the brightest young talents in amateur boxing.

As fight night approaches, Gomez says she is counting down the days until she can finally display her abilities on the professional stage. “I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life. Every sacrifice, every early morning run, every hard sparring session and every amateur fight has led me to this opportunity. I’m excited, motivated, and ready to show everyone what I’ve been working on. The fans are going to see a fighter who’s hungry, disciplined, and ready to make a statement from the very first bell.”

Gomez believes her amateur experience has prepared her for the transition and is eager to demonstrate that her style is built for success in the professional ranks. “I’ve spent years developing my skills and learning every aspect of the sport. Now it’s time to put everything together on a bigger stage. I want people to see the passion I bring into the ring and understand why they call me ‘The Truth.’ This debut is just the beginning, and I’m determined to make an impression that people won’t forget.”

With her professional debut drawing near, Gomez says training camp has been one of the most demanding and rewarding experiences of her career. “This training camp has been one of the hardest and most rewarding camps I’ve ever had. My team and I know how important this first professional fight is, so we’ve worked hard every single day. We’ve focused on getting in great shape and making sure I’m ready for whatever my opponent brings on fight night.”

According to Gomez, the intensity of camp has only increased her confidence heading into June 19. “I’ve never felt more prepared. The work we’ve put in gives me confidence because I know I’ve earned this opportunity. Every day in camp has made me stronger, mentally and physically. I’m going into this fight knowing I’ve done everything possible to be ready for my professional debut.”

While Gomez remains focused on the task at hand, she understands the significance of beginning her professional journey with a victory. “A win would mean everything because it would validate all the hard work that’s gone into getting here. At the same time, I know this is only the first step. My goal is to build a successful career and eventually become a world champion.”

Gomez views her debut as an opportunity to establish momentum and initiate herself to boxing fans around the world. “Winning on June 19 would give me a strong foundation to build on. It would show my promoter, fans, and everyone watching that I’m ready for this level. More importantly, it would be the first chapter in what I believe will be a long and successful professional career.”

Making her professional debut on a globally recognized platform such as DAZN is an opportunity Gomez does not take lightly. “It’s a huge blessing to make my pro debut on DAZN. Not every fighter gets the chance to perform in front of a national and international audience right away. Knowing that people from all over the world can tune in motivates me even more to put on a great performance.”

Gomez plans to make the most of the exposure and hopes to leave a lasting impression on fans watching from home. “This is my opportunity to introduce myself to the boxing world. I want fans to see my skills, my heart, and my determination. When the fight is over, I want people talking about Kayla ‘The Truth’ Gomez and looking forward to seeing me compete again. That’s the type of impression I plan to make on June 19.”

Tickets priced $80.00 (General Admission), $250.00 (Ringside) + applicable fees are on sale now by clicking HERE. Thunder Studios is located at 20434 S Santa Fe Ave, Long Beach, CA 90810.

Two of the top heavyweights in the West, Kingsley “”The Black Lion” Ibeh (16-3-1, 14 KOs) and Dante “The Inferno” Stone (21-2, 13 KOs), will throw-down in their 10-round main event showdown, “King of the West,” which will be contested for three titles: Ibeh’s WBC FECARBOX, along with the vacant WBA Continental Americas and Arizona State championships.

Ibeh and Stone are two of the best heavyweights west of the Mississippi River and their clash will establish the winner as the clear “King of the West.”

Hometown favorite Garcia, 23, faces upset-minded Ryan Adams (12-11-1) at home in an 8-round bout. Adams’ pro record includes a major victory against WBC World Middleweight challenger and 2012 USA Olympian, Terrell Gausha (24-4-1) in 2025 via a 10-round split decision.

In 2023, Garcia also knocked out Armando Resendiz (14-1) in the eighth round, fourth-round stoppage of Amilcar Vidal Jr. (16-0) for the WBC Middleweight title, and 10-round decision over Kevin Salgado Zambrano (15-1-1) in southpaw Garcia’s first title defense.

Garcia had an abbreviated amateur career, highlighted by his gold-medal performance at the 2017 U.S. National Championships, and he turned pro three years later at the age of 16 in Mexico.

Adams is coming off an eighth-round split decision triumph against 17-1 Yoanki Urrujia last October in Miami.

A native of Nigeria who fights out of Phoenix, the 32-year-old Ibeh stands 6”4, weighs 288 pounds, and he is a former college and pro football player (Canadian Football League). His cousin is the infamous former prizefighter, heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi. Ibeh gained fame in his most recent fight this past January at Madison Square Garden, when he went toe-to-toe with highly rated Jarrell Miller (26-1-2), albeit dropping a 10-round split decision on DAZN.

Stone, 31, lives in Chandler, Arizona. His most recent fight was last October in the championship final of the WBC Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia, in which his 21-fight win streak was snapped by Kevin Cristopher Ramirez by way of a 6-round split decision.

Doors open at 4 p.m. PT, first bout scheduled for 5 p.m. PT.

Card subject to change.

Tickets are priced between $91.15 and $228.30 (including fees) and available for purchase online at www.etic.com.

MOST VALUABLE PROMOTIONS, THE GLOBAL HOME OF WOMEN’S BOXING, SIGNS UNDEFEATED #2 WBO AND IBF CONTENDER LUPITA MEDINA

NEW YORK, NY – June 4, 2026 — Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced the signing of undefeated 22-year-old Nicaraguan-American boxer, 5x Junior Olympics champion, and current #2 WBO and IBF contender Lupita Medina (12-0, 3 KOs). Medina becomes the latest signee to join MVP following the company’s launch of MVPW, the new year-round global home of women’s boxing, delivering fans the best fighters in the sport. Medina is the latest athlete of Nicaraguan heritage to join MVP following the company’s signings of Yokasta and Naomy Valle in 2025.

WBO and IBF No. 2 contender Lupita “Babyface Assassin” Medina is one of the brightest rising stars in women’s boxing. Medina began boxing in 2012 and quickly established herself as an elite amateur, capturing five Junior Olympic National Championships before turning professional in 2022. The ambidextrous fighter trains under Edgar Jasso, Manny Robles, and Matias Erbin at Legends Boxing Academy and resides in Maywood, California. Outside the ring, Medina is pursuing a degree at California State University, Long Beach, currently on educational leave as she focuses on her boxing career.

Inspired by her father, a former amateur boxer in Nicaragua, and her brother, who compiled a 9-0 professional record with eight knockouts before retiring due to injury, Medina is carrying forward a dream they both helped ignite while forging her own legacy. Growing up, she was often told she was “too girly” to box, but those doubts only strengthened her passion for the sport, teaching her to be feminine, confident, and a fierce competitor all at once. Proud of her Nicaraguan heritage, she is motivated by the opportunity to represent her people on the sport’s biggest stages and aims to become one of Nicaragua’s next boxing superstars while inspiring the next generation to dream big.

“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to join MVP. Being part of a promotion that is changing the game for women’s boxing and giving female athletes the platform they deserve is exactly where I want to be,” said Lupita Medina. “To be welcomed into a team that genuinely believes in investing in female fighters means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to doing my part in helping women’s boxing continue to grow. As a proud Nicaraguan, every time I step into the ring I carry my country with me. Representing Nicaragua on the world stage has always been one of my biggest motivations and something I take great pride in. This is a huge step in my career, and I’m committed to continuing my journey toward becoming a world champion while making my mark as Nicaragua’s next superstar, with MVP by my side.”

“Lupita Medina is on the cusp of greatness as an undefeated 22-year-old talent, already ranked #2 in the world across two sanctioning bodies and representing the fighting spirit of Nicaragua every time she steps into the ring,” said Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “As MVP continues to expand its presence across Latin America and invest in the future of women’s boxing, we believe Lupita has all the tools to become Nicaragua’s next world champion. We look forward to her promotional debut soon as part of MVPW, the global home of women’s boxing.”

SALITA PROMOTIONS SIGNS PUERTO RICAN STANDOUT CALEB TIRADO, CONTINUING ITS COMMITMENT TO THE RICH TRADITION OF PUERTO RICAN BOXING

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (June 3, 2026) — Salita Promotions announced today the signing of elite Puerto Rican amateur bantamweight standout Caleb J. Tirado.

Tirado (1-0), of Arecibo, will make his United States and Salita Promotions debut on the Sunday, June 14 card headlined the WBA Interim Flyweight World Championship between Jonathan “Bomba” González and Abraham Perez at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids, streaming live on the global home of boxing, DAZN.

At just 24 years old, Tirado began boxing at age 9 and spent nearly two decades building one of the most decorated amateur careers in Puerto Rican boxing history. The former amateur champion aims to continue in the footsteps of his Puerto Rican boxing idols Wilfredo Gómez, Félix Trinidad, and Miguel Cotto.

“Signing with Salita Promotions is a partnership that will take my career to the next level,”  said Caleb J. Tirado. “My goal is to stay active, finish the year undefeated, and show the world I have every tool needed to become a world champion. The next step in my journey begins on June 14th and I can’t wait to get in the ring and introduce the world to Caleb Tirado.”

With more than a dozen Puerto Rican fighters competing under the Salita Promotions banner, the growing promotional stable is committed to honor the tradition of Puerto Rico’s boxing royalty. With the acquisition of Tirado, Salita aims to further secure that pledge while guiding the career of one of Puerto Rico’s top prospects.

“Caleb is one of the best, if not the best, young prospects coming out of Puerto Rico today. He had an outstanding amateur career and possesses all the tools to become a major star in boxing, following in the lineage of the island’s great champions. Fans will get their first look at him on June 14, live on DAZN,” said Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions.

On the international stage, Tirado captured the Gold Medal at the 2023 Continental Championship in Cali, Colombia, earned a Bronze Medal at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, competed at the 2023 World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and reached the finals of the 2024 Olympic Pre-Qualifier in Busto Arsizio, Italy.

Back home, Tirado was a 12-time Puerto Rico National Champion. He was named Boxer of the Year by the Puerto Rico Athletes Commission (2022) and the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (2023), and was inducted into the Bayamón Hall of Fame in 2023. Tirado now brings that wealth of experience and championship pedigree into the professional ranks.

Tirado will take on Osmar Rodriguez (6-6, 2 KOs) of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, in a six-round bantamweight bout. The durable Mexican has pushed fighters like Fabian Arredondo and Ethan Perez to their limits, and is a legitimate test for Tirado in just his second professional bout.

Tirado vs. Rodriguez falls on the same day as the National Puerto Rican Day Parade and is the third Mexico versus Puerto Rico matchup on the June 14th Salita Promotions card. The rivalry between the boxing hotbeds is one of the most storied in history and includes legendary wars between Wilfredo Gómez and Salvador Sánchez, Félix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya, and Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito.

The main event features Puerto Rican WBA Interim Flyweight World Champion Jonathan “La Bomba” González (29-4-1, 14 KOs) of Caguas, Puerto Rico, defending his title against unbeaten Mexican contender Abraham “Hammer” Perez (14-0 7KOs). In the co-feature, Puerto Rican undefeated title contender Joshua “JJ” Pagán (15-0 5KOs) puts his WBO NABO Lightweight title on the line against Mexican challenger Rodolfo Bustamante Salazar (22-1-1 12 KOs)

The card will also feature Troy “Transformer” Isley (15-0, 5 KOs)Brandon Moore (19-1, 10 KOs)Sardius Simmons (7-0, 3 KOs)Shannel “The Sniper” Butler (7-0, 3 KOs), Lance “Boogie” Smith (6-0, 5 KOs)Jasmine Hampton (2-0, 2 KOs), and Jacquan McElroy (6-0, 2 KOs)

Philippine Boxing Hall of Fame: Sampson Lewkowicz: Boxing’s Picasso

(June 2, 2026 — San Francisco) In the fight game, a man’s reputation is either his greatest asset or his heaviest burden.

For Sampson Lewkowicz, it has only grown stronger and more special through the decades.

Long before the world figured out what Manny Pacquiao would become, Sampson already knew. He was there at the beginning, helping piece together the fights and opportunities that gave Pacquiao solid ground to build on.

“Through my work with Manny Pacquiao and my other Filipino world champions, I came to know the Philippines and its great tradition with boxing,” he expressed through PhilBoxing.com and PhilippineBoxingHallOfFame.org.

History tends to credit the man throwing the punches and rarely gets around to crediting the man who made the calls, opened the doors, and believed first, when believing still carried real risk.

Nowadays, the names on Mr. Lewkowicz’ résumé and his promotional company Sampson Boxing are easy to find— stars like David Benavidez, Sebastian Fundora, Gabriela Fundora, and former Pinoy champions Donnie Nietes, John Riel Casimero, Marvin Sonsona.

According to the WBC website, he has helped the careers, one way or another, of the following titlists and contenders: Jaison Rosario, Javier Fortuna, Sultan Ibragimov, Javier Castillejo, Leavander Johnson, Celestino Caballero, Hugo Ruiz, Anselmo Moreno, Michael Katsidis, Chris John, Rafael Concepcion, Krystof Wlodarzyk, Hanna Gabriels, Kina Malpartida, Cecilia Comunales… and many more.

But anyone who knows their boxing will tell you that a list of names only goes so far.

What it cannot tell you is whether a man kept his word when keeping it cost him something, or whether the fighters in his corner still trusted him when the cameras were pointed elsewhere.

LAMONT “THE REAPER” ROACH JR. AND WILLIAM “EL CAMARÓN” ZEPEDA TO BATTLE FOR THE WBC LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

LAS VEGAS (June 3, 2026) — Two of boxing’s elite lightweight stars are set to collide with a world title on the line as Lamont “The Reaper” Roach Jr. (25-1-2, 10 KOs) of Washington D.C. and undefeated Mexican sensation William “El Camarón” Zepeda (34-0, 27 KOs) battle for the vacant WBC Lightweight World Championship on Saturday, Aug. 1 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Headlining TNT Sports and DAZN’s “The Fight,” a new monthly live boxing series, the 12-round championship showdown will be broadcast co-exclusively in the United States on TNT and truTV and worldwide on DAZN and presented by Golden Boy Promotions in co-promotion with TGB Promotions and ProBox Promotions.

The general on-sale for Roach Jr vs. Zepeda begins Friday, June 5th at 10:00 am PT and is priced at $300, $200, $150, $75, $50 and $30 plus applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased at AXS.com or GoldenBoy.com. Fans can access the special pre-sale on Thursday, June 4 with code: GBPVIP

“This is my fourth consecutive world title fight coming up in a different weight class,” said Lamont Roach Jr. “No doubt, I am bringing boxing back, and I’m coming for the top spot. I want the P4P belt layer.”

“We’ve been working hard since my last fight. We’re at the forefront of the lightweight division, and we know every opponent at this level presents a serious challenge,” said William Zepeda. “Once again, we’ve been given the opportunity to fight for a world championship, and we’re ready to show the world exactly who ‘El Camarón’ Zepeda is. I hope Lamont comes fully prepared, because we’re going to put on a great show for the fans.”

“William Zepeda has earned every bit of this opportunity,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy. “For years, he has taken on every challenge put in front of him and established himself as one of the most exciting fighters in boxing with his relentless pressure, incredible work rate, and fan-friendly style. On August 1, fans are going to witness two world-class fighters battle for the WBC Lightweight World Championship, and I expect William Zepeda to show the world why he is one of the very best fighters in the sport today.”

“Lamont Roach has proven he belongs among the very top of the sport. On August 1, he faces a massive challenge in the relentless William Zepeda,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Lamont is a world-class champion with incredible boxing acumen and D.C. grit. He’ll need every bit of it to turn back one of the most dangerous contenders in the lightweight division in Zepeda. It’s a classic matchup of skill versus pressure but I expect Lamont to fight fire with fire, which means fans at the Virgin hotel and those watching on TNT Sports and DAZN are in for a special night of boxing.”

Additional information on the undercard and media credentials will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lamont “The Reaper” Roach Jr. is one of boxing’s most respected champions, earning recognition for his skill, toughness and willingness to take on the sport’s biggest challenges. Fighting out of and representing the Nation’s Capitol of Washington DC with a record of 25-1-3 (10 KOs) and has competed at the highest level across multiple weight divisions. Roach Jr.’s profile surged in March 2025 when he moved up to lightweight to challenge Gervonta Davis for the WBA Lightweight World Championship. The highly anticipated bout went the distance and ended in a controversial majority draw after 12 competitive rounds, with many fans and observers in the sport believing Roach Jr. had done enough to win. Later that year, he tested himself once again by moving up to super lightweight to face Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, battling to another majority draw.

Before those marquee matchups, Roach Jr. captured the WBA Super Featherweight World Championship with a split-decision victory over Hector Luis Garcia, completing a remarkable comeback after the lone loss of his professional career against Jamel Herring in 2019. Today, “The Reaper” remains one of boxing’s most accomplished and battle-tested competitors, continuing to pursue championship success on the sport’s biggest stages.

William “Camarón” Zepeda has established himself as one of the lightweight division’s elite contenders, earning a reputation as one of boxing’s most relentless pressure fighters. Most recently, Zepeda challenged undefeated champion Shakur Stevenson for the WBC Lightweight World Championship in New York City, pushing the champion with his trademark high-volume attack over 12 competitive rounds. Although the scorecards favored Stevenson, Zepeda’s performance reinforced his standing among the division’s best and further elevated his profile on the world stage. The title opportunity came on the heels of a career-defining run that saw Zepeda capture and successfully defend the WBC Interim Lightweight World Championship against former world champion Tevin Farmer. In November 2024, Zepeda overcame the first knockdown of his professional career to edge Farmer by split decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, claiming the interim title. Four months later, he settled the rivalry in Cancun, Mexico, retaining the belt after an action-packed 12-round battle.

Before his championship run, Zepeda built a strong resume in the lightweight division. His breakout performance came in October 2022 against former world champion and Olympian Joseph “JoJo” Diaz, where he not only earned a signature victory, but also shattered three CompuBox lightweight records for total punches thrown, jabs attempted in a round and total attempted jabs. He continued his rise with victories over notable names including former world champion Rene Alvarado, former world title challenger Mercito Gesta and former world champion Maxi Hughes. Representing San Mateo Atenco, Mexico, Zepeda has become a fan favorite thanks to his relentless, action-packed style. The Mexican southpaw combines nonstop pressure, elite conditioning and knockout power, making him one of the most entertaining fighters in the sport and a dangerous challenge for anyone in the lightweight division. With his stock rising and valuable experience gained against the sport’s top competition, “Camaron” remains firmly in the world title picture as he looks toward the next chapter of his career.

SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT STAR FRANK MARTIN JOINS GROWING FIGHTERS FIRST MANAGEMENT STABLE

DALLAS – June 3, 2026 – Top 140-pound contender and boxing star Frank “The Ghost” Martin has become the latest elite fighter to join forces with Fighters First Management, as the supremely talented Martin will look to take the next step in his career and become a world champion aided by the company’s CEO Adrian Clark.

“Adrian has always been solid to me,” said Martin. “Timing is everything, and I recognized it was time to let him come in and get things in order for my business. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings!”

“Finally! When I first started building Fighters First Management, Frank Martin’s name was at the top of our list to sign,” said Clark. “It’s an honor to represent Frank. He is one of the top names and top talents in the 140-pound division. I look forward to helping him reach new heights in his career.”

The 31-year-old Martin sports a 19-1-1 record with 13 KOs and first burst onto the scene with a dominating run at 135 pounds as he earned a world title opportunity against reigning champion Gervonta Davis in 2024 by defeating a slew of contenders including Michel Rivera and Artem Harutyunyan.

After the Davis fight, Martin moved up to 140-pounds and debuted in the division with one of 2025’s best knockouts, a fourth-round destruction of two-division world champion Rances Barthelemy last December. Most recently Martin stepped into the ring in February and went toe-to-toe with fellow contender Nahir Albright in a fight that was ultimately ruled a unanimous draw.

Martin first came on Clark’s radar through Clark’s longstanding working relationship with pound-for-pound star Errol Spence Jr., who promotes Martin under his Man Down Promotions banner. The signing is the latest boon for Clark during a successful recent run that saw him help guide Brian Norman Jr. to a welterweight world championship, while also adding top contender Edwin De Los Santos, plus undefeated rising stars Domonique Francis and Jessie Fletcher, to a stable that puts him amongst the sports premier talent managers.

Josh “The Hammer” Popper: From Holy Spirit to a Heavyweight Headline at the Tropicana

**ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.** — On Saturday, June 13, undefeated heavyweight Josh “The Hammer” Popper (7-0, 6 KOs) headlines a Boxing Insider Promotions card at the Tropicana Atlantic City Showroom against fellow unbeaten South Jersey heavyweight Bruce “2.0” Seldon Jr. It is the kind of all-local, all-undefeated main event the sport rarely produces, and for Popper it is a homecoming years in the making.

Popper is a South Jersey product through and through. He grew up minutes from the boardwalk and starred in football and basketball at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, where he played defensive end on the Spartans team that won the 2011 New Jersey state championship alongside future NFL players. The pride runs deep. “I bleed blue and gold,” Popper told Josh Hennig on 973 ESPN’s “Hanging with Hennig.” “I’m a Spartan until I die.” He recently returned to speak to students at his old high school, closing a loop on a journey that started there.

From Holy Spirit, Popper went on to Rowan University, where he became an All American and All-Conference defensive lineman and earned rookie minicamp invitations from the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts. When pro football did not work out, he moved to New York City, took up boxing in his late twenties, and opened his own gym, Bredwinners, in Manhattan. He was a standout amateur fast, winning the 2023 New York Ring Masters Championship and the 2023 New York Boxing Tournament before turning pro in late 2024.

The nickname tells the deeper story. “The Hammer” is a tribute to his late father, Michael, a home builder whose hammer Popper now wears tattooed on his back. He has been open that boxing began, in part, as a way to cope with his father’s death, and that he carries his dad and his younger sisters into the ring with him every time out.

Popper turned pro in October 2024 in Nashville and has stopped nearly everyone since, building to a 7-0 record with 6 knockouts. Two of those wins have come right at the Tropicana, including a first-round stoppage of Dillon Pumphrey in March. In April he went the full six rounds for the first time, outpointing veteran Rydell Booker in a fight that proved his conditioning and ring savvy as much as his power. He has not stopped since. “I haven’t taken any time off,” Popper said on 973 ESPN. “I feel like I’ve just been rolling right through.”

Behind him is a team built for the long climb. Popper is managed by Marty Hopwood of TMA Management, the New York-based outfit that also guides the careers of fighters like Terell Bostic and Jacob Solis, and he is trained by former pro Jose Luis Guzman, who also works with star Amanda Serrano. Popper is a coach himself, working with amateurs and pros, including three-time world champion Miyo Yoshida, and he credits that teaching eye for sharpening his own ring IQ.

For all the boxing, Popper first reached a national audience outside the ring during a high-profile relationship with pop icon Madonna, who was a ringside fixture at his amateur fights. He has never run from the attention, but he has made clear he intends to be known for what he does between the ropes.

The Seldon matchup carries a personal edge that only a hyper-local main event can. As Popper revealed on 973 ESPN, the two actually faced each other in high school football, Holy Spirit against Absegami, and Popper does not mind reminding people how that one went. Now they meet again as grown men, both undefeated, both with knockout power, and both unwilling to leave it to the judges.

Popper’s message to anyone watching him for the first time on June 13 was simple. “They’re going to have a new favorite boxer,” he said. “You don’t want to blink.”

“Josh Popper is exactly what this series is about,” said promoter Larry Goldberg of Boxing Insider Promotions. “A local kid who chased a dream, took the hard road, and is now headlining a heavyweight main event in his own backyard against another undefeated local. Two unbeaten South Jersey heavyweights willing to fight each other, that does not happen at this level. June 13 is going to be a special night for Atlantic City boxing.”

JOSEPH “JOJO” DIAZ EAGER TO REVIVE CAREER AHEAD OF JUNE 19 SHOWDOWN WITH “H2O” SYLV

LONG BEACH, CA (June 2, 2026) – Former two-time world champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz (34-9-1, 15 KOs) is leaving no stone unturned as he prepares for a pivotal crossroads fight against rising contender “H2O” Sylve (13-1, 10 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round super lightweight bout on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

The action-packed event, promoted by MF PRO, will stream live worldwide on DAZN, giving fight fans around the globe the opportunity to witness what Diaz believes could be the beginning of a career resurgence.

A veteran of numerous world title fights and one of the most accomplished fighters of his generation, Diaz understands the significance of this matchup. At 33 years old, the former champion remains motivated by unfinished business and is determined to prove that he still belongs among boxing’s elite.

With fight night less than three weeks away, Diaz believes he is benefiting from one of the most productive and disciplined training camps of his professional career. Reflecting on his preparation, Diaz expressed confidence in the work he has put in behind the scenes.

“This training camp has been exactly what I needed,” said Diaz. “I’ve gotten back to doing the little things right and focused on improving every part of my game. At this age, I’m still hungry to succeed, and if anything, I’m more motivated now because I know how important this fight is for my career. I’ve been working hard every day in the gym, getting into great shape, improving my defense, and making sure I’m mentally ready. Sometimes you have to take an honest look at yourself and make changes, and that’s what I’ve done. I feel energized, focused, and ready to remind everyone that I still have a lot left to give in this sport.”

Diaz knows he faces a dangerous and ambitious opponent in Sylve, a younger fighter looking to make a statement against a former world champion. Discussing the matchup, Diaz acknowledged Sylve’s strengths while making it clear that experience could prove to be the deciding factor.

“Sylve is a young fighter who’s trying to make a name for himself, and I respect that because I was in that same position early in my career,” said Diaz. “He’s talented, confident, and coming into this fight with a lot of motivation. But I’ve been in the ring with some of the best fighters in the world and have competed on boxing’s biggest stages. Those experiences teach you things that you can’t learn any other way. I know he’s going to come ready to fight, but so am I. I still have a lot left to prove, and I want to show the fans that I can still perform at a high level and compete with anybody in the division.”

With many observers viewing the bout as a defining moment in his career, Diaz understands the importance of delivering a statement victory. Speaking about the impact a win could have, Diaz emphasized that he views this fight as the start of a new chapter.

“A win on June 19 would mean a lot to me because it would show people that I still belong at a high level in this sport,” said Diaz. “I know some people have counted me out because of some tough losses, but I’ve never lost faith in myself. I’ve been through ups and downs before, and I’ve always found a way to come back stronger. Sylve is a young fighter with a lot of ambition, so beating him would prove that I can still compete with the new generation of fighters. More than anything, this fight is a chance for me to get my career moving in the right direction again. I still have big goals, and I believe I have a lot left to give to boxing.”

The opportunity to compete in front of his hometown supporters while performing on one of boxing’s biggest streaming platforms has provided Diaz with additional motivation. When discussing fighting in Southern California and on DAZN, Diaz spoke passionately about representing the fans who have supported him throughout his career.

“Fighting at home in Southern California means a lot to me because this is where it all started,” Diaz concluded. “The fans here have supported me throughout my entire career, through the good times and the tough times, and I’m excited to fight in front of them again. Knowing that the fight will be shown live on DAZN and that people all over the world will be watching gives me even more motivation. I want to put on a great performance, get the win, and remind everyone that I still have a lot left to give in the tank. I’ve been a world champion before, and I know what it takes to get back to that level. This is my chance to prove I’m motivated and able to compete with top fighters.

Serrano Named WBA Female Boxer of the Month, Han Earns Honorable Mention

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has awarded its Female Boxer of the Month honor for May to Puerto Rican legend Amanda Serrano, recognizing yet another dominant performance from one of the most accomplished champions in the sport.

The distinction comes following Serrano’s spectacular showing on the card held in El Paso, Texas, at the end of May. In that bout, the reigning WBA Featherweight World Champion put her title on the line against German challenger Cheyenne Hanson and erased any lingering doubts about her place atop the 126-pound division with a commanding victory.

True to her aggressive, crowd-pleasing style, Serrano wasted no time asserting her authority. The Puerto Rican superstar overwhelmed her opponent from the outset and closed the show with a second-round technical knockout. Mixing pinpoint body shots with relentless pressure at close range, the defending champion forced the referee to halt the contest, further cementing her status as one of the most dominant figures in the history of women’s boxing.

The WBA also awarded its Honorable Mention of the Month to American standout Stephanie Han, who delivered an impressive performance on the same El Paso card. Han engaged in a tactical battle with veteran contender Holly Holm for the vacant WBA Lightweight World Title. After ten hard-fought rounds marked by sustained activity and competitive exchanges, Han emerged victorious by majority decision with scores of 96-94, 95-95, and 96-94, capturing the 135-pound crown.

Through these distinctions, the WBA recognizes excellence and the continued growth of women’s boxing. Serrano receives the organization’s highest monthly honor as she continues to build upon her extraordinary legacy, while Han’s championship-winning performance earns her well-deserved recognition among the sport’s standout performers.

Benavidez Named WBA Boxer of the Month

Undefeated American star David Benavidez has been named the World Boxing Association’s Boxer of the Month, an honor recognizing his dominant and successful debut campaign in a new weight class.

The award comes on the heels of Benavidez’s flawless transition to the 200-pound division during his highly anticipated May showdown. The former two-time world champion proved he lost none of the power, intensity, or aggression that made him one of boxing’s most feared fighters, delivering a statement victory over top-tier opposition in Gilberto Ramírez and silencing any doubts about his ability to thrive among the cruisers.

In that May contest, Benavidez once again showcased the relentless style that has become his trademark. From the opening bell, he imposed his will through a suffocating punch output, thudding body combinations, and blazing hand speed that ultimately led to a knockout victory over “Zurdo” Ramírez, who entered the bout as champion. The performance confirmed that Benavidez’s power has carried up in weight and established him as a legitimate threat against the division’s elite.

The WBA also awarded its Honorable Mention of the Month to Japanese champion Naoya Inoue. “The Monster” once again delivered a masterful display in May, defending his titles with a unanimous decision victory that further solidified his standing as one of the sport’s premier pound-for-pound fighters.

With this distinction, the WBA recognizes the exceptional achievements of both Benavidez and Inoue. The Phoenix native has launched a new chapter of his career in spectacular fashion, positioning himself among the leading figures of boxing’s heavier weight classes, while the Japanese superstar continues to strengthen an already remarkable legacy.
