Robinson Castellanos scored an upset as he battered previously undefeated Ronny Rios in five rounds of their scheduled 10-round Super Featherweight bout at the Fantasy Springs Hotel and Resort in Indio, CA.
It Didn’t start out great for Castellanos in round one as he was cut around his left eye from an accidental headbutt. He came back with authority in round two as he landed a flurry of punches then dropped Rios after teeimg off on Rios. Castellanos continued to batter Rios all over the ring. Castellanos shot out of a cannon in round five and landed a fuselage of punches and the bout was topped just 11 seconds into round five.
Castellanos, 127 lbs of Mexico is now 20-10 with 13 knockouts. Rios, 128 lbs of Santa Ana, CA is now 23-1.
Antonio Orozco remained undefeated by scoring an 8-round unanimous decision over former world champion Steve Forbes in a Welterweight bout.
Orozco, 142 lbs of San Diego, CA won by scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 21-0. Forbes, 142 lbs of Los Angeles is now 35-14.
Orozco outlanded Forbes 249 to 147.
Diego De La Hoya scored a 6-round unanimous decision over Luis Alfredo Ruiz in a Featherweight bout.
De La Hoya, 123 lbs of Mexicali, MX dominated the bout and won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 7-0. Ruiz, 123 lbs is now 5-3-1.
De La Hoya landed 135 of 342 punches to Ruiz’38-354.
