Elton Dharry
BROOKLYN, NY (March 11, 2013)—There is a new name to look out for in the Bantamweight division and his name is Elton Dharry

Dharry of Brooklyn, New York by way of Guyana just captured the WBU Americas title with a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Rudolph Hodge on Februry 24th in his birthplace of Georgetown, Guyana

It was Dharry’s 10th consecutive victory and his record now reads 12-5-1 with six knockouts.

“I started boxing in New York but made my pro debut in Guyana”, said Dharry

“Early in my career I took fights on short notice against fighters that I should not have been fighting”, continued Dharry when speaking about losses early in his career which included losses to four undefeated fighters such as IBF Bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.

The WBU Americas belt is the 2nd championship that Dharry has won as he previously captured the WBC Caribbean title with a 7th round stoppage over Dexter Marques on May 28, 2011 and defended it once with a 1st round stoppage over Selwynn Lett nine months later.

His 10 win streak coincides with Dharry hooking up with adviser Anthony Catanzaro

He has fought exactly half of his eighteen bouts in the United States and with his newly won title; Dharry expects to have his more significant fights on American soil.

“Hopefully winning those titles leads to bigger and better things. I want to step up the competition as I am ready for bigger fights and I am looking forward to making a big name for myself in the United States”

Dharry is trained by Don Saxby & Martin Gonzalez
