William Zepeda stopped former world title challlenger Mercito Gesta in round six of their 12-round lightweight bout at The Commerce Casino in Commerce, California.

Zepeda began his relentless offensive assault in round two and in round three began to swell the eyes of Gesta. In round five, Zepeda viciously battered Gesta all over the ring. Zepeda landed a staggering 217 power punches through five rounds. In round six, Zepeda beat up Gesta on the ropes as he landed about 20 unanswered shots and the fight was stopped at 1:31.

Zepeda, 134.3 lbs of San Mateo Attenco, MEX is 29-0 with 25 knockouts. Gesta, 134.2 lbs of Mandaue City PHI is 34-4-3.

“I am ready for the big fights out there – whether it be Devin Haney or even a Shakur Stevenson. Those are the guys who have the belts and that’s what I want next,” said William Zepeda. “There are incredible fights for me in my division, and I trust that Golden Boy will do what they can to get me to become a World Champion. Victor Morales remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over Edwin Palomares in a featherweight fight.

In round 10, Morales was cut over his right eye.

Morales landed 162 of 434 punches. Palomares was 136 of 564.

Morales, 126 lbs of Vancouver, WA won by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 96-94 and is now 19-0-1. Palomares, 125.4 lbs of Mexico City is 18-5-2.

“I hoped I showed Oscar and the team tonight that I am a warrior in the ring, and I can push through anything,” said Victor Morales Jr. “I am happy we get to take our belt back home with us.”

Yokasta Valle defended the IBF/WBO Minimumweight titles with a 10-round unanimous decision over Maria Santizo.

Valle landed 98 of 292 punches. Santizo was 79 of 435.

Valle, 105 lbs of Matahalpa, NIC won by scores of 100-90 and 99-91 twice and is now 29-2. Santizo, 104.2 lbs of Gutamala City, GUA is 11-4.

“I knew she was going to bring everything,” said Yokasta Valle. “She was training in Los Angeles to get incredible sparring and I knew she was well prepared for our fight. I am going to take a week off and enjoy the Costa Rican beaches and get back to training so I can be ready to fight on November 4 no matter who the opponent is.”

Darius Fulgham remained perfect with a second round stoppage over Ricardo Luna in a scheduled eight-round light heavyweight bout.

In round one, Luna was cut on his forehead. In round two, Fukgham landed a left hook to the side of the head that put Luna on a knee. Luna got to his feet, but the fight was a waved off at 1:30.

Fulgham, 170.8 lbs of El Paso, TX is 7-0 with seven knockouts. Luna, 170.8 lbs of Mexico City is 25-11-2.

Eric Priest remained undefeated with an eight-round majority decision over Simon Madsen in a middleweight bout.

Priest landed 121 of 284 punches. Madsen landed 104 of 360.

Preiest, 158.8 lbs of Wichita Falls, TX won by scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 76-76 and is now 11-0. Madsen, 158.6 lbs of Cancun, MEX is 13-2.

Daniel Garcia won a six-round unanimous decision over Erick Benitez in a lightweight fight.

Garcia, 132 lbs of Denver, CO is 7-0. Benitez, 131.6 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 4-5.

Alejandro Reyes won a six-round majority decision over Roberto Gomez in a super lightweight bout.

In round five, Reyes was bleeding over the left eye.

Reyes, 139.6 lbs of Mexicali, MEX won by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57 and is now 11-0. Gomez, 140 lbs of Mexico City is 5-2.

Gael Cabrera won a six-round super lightweight bout over Juan Centeno in a super featherweight bout.

In round three, Centeno was cut on the lip. In the same round, Cabrera was cut on the right eyebrow.

Cabrera, 126.2 lbs of Sonora, MEX won by scores of 40-36 on all cards and is now 2-0. Centeno, 127.6 lbs of Managua, NIC is 8-9-4.

Jordan Cervantes won a four-round unanimous decision over Giovanny Meza in a super lightweight bout.

Cervantes, 136.4 lbs of East LA, CA won by scores of 40-36 on cards and is now 1-0. Meza, 137.2 lbs of El Paso, TX is 0-5.

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (Aug. 28, 2022): Undefeated featherweight prospect Nathan Rodriguez (9-0, 8 KOs) scored an explosive first-round knockout victory over Moises Flores (25-7-1, 17 KOs) in the main event of a MarvNation Promotions card Saturday evening at Smith Park in Pico Rivera, California. The fight was streamed live on FITE TV Pay-Per-View.

Rodriguez, who had spent his first eight fights fighting in Costa Rica and Mexico, recently turned 18, which allowed him to finally compete in front of a hometown audience. The rising prospect exceeded expectations and finished Flores at 2:11 of the opening round.

In the co-main event, Alejandro “Pin Pon” Reyes (9-0, 5 KOs) of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico passed the toughest test of his career with a unanimous decision win over Raymundo Rios Cardiel (4-9-2, 3 KOs) of Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. Reyes, a super lightweight prospect who trains out of the Westside Boxing Club in Los Angeles with trainers Jose and Nacho Saucedo, worked from a calm jab before landing hard right hands and counter left hooks to his opponent. After dominating each round, Reyes won with scores of 59-55, 60-54 and 60-54.

Keith Carson (1-6-1) of Pomona, Calif. scored an upset split decision win over previously undefeated Chinese prospect Hongke Zeng (1-1, 1 KO). Carson used his experience to overwhelm Zeng across four rounds of welterweight action. One judge had it 38-37 for Zeng, while two others had 38-37 for Carson. 

Jacob Macalolooy (3-0, 2 KOs) of San Diego, California defeated Salvadoran prospect Josue Zamora (1-1, 1 KO) via unanimous decision in a four-round welterweight clash. Macalolooy won with scores of 40-35, 39-36 and 39-36.

Scott Alexander (17-5-2, 8 KOs) of Los Angeles, California scored a stoppage win over Jaime Solorio (12-5-2, 9 KOs) of Ensenada, Baja California in a heavyweight bout initially slated for eight rounds. After taking many hard shots, the referee ended the fight at the end of the third round.

Alexis Rocha stopped Blair Cobbs in a welterweight battle at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

In round eight, Rocha dropped Cobbs with a hard right to the bottom the chin. In round nine, Rocha had Cobbs in trouble with body shots and then he landed some chopping lefts. A big uppercut drove Cobbs to the ropes. Rocha was relentless until the bout was stopped at 44 seconds.

Rocha – Cobbs was bumped up to the main event after Vergil Ortiz fell ill for his bout with Michael McKinson.

Rocha, 146.8 lbs of Santa Ana, CA is 19-1 with 13 knockouts. Cobbs, 145.6 lbs of Hollywood, CA is 15-1-1.

McKinson Decisions Martin

Michael McKinson won a 10-round unanimous decision over late-replacement Alex Martin in a welterweight fight.

McKinson, 146 lbs of Portsmouth, ENG won by scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 and is now 22-0. Martin, 147 lbs ofChicago, IL is 17-4.

Bektemir Melikuziev stopped David Zegarra in round two of their eight-round light heavyweight bout.

In round two, Melikuziev landed a perfect left to the body that sent Zegarra in pain to a knee and he did not beat the 10-count at 30 seconds.

Melikuziev, 171.6 lbs of Uzbekistan is now 9-1 with seven knockouts. Zegarra, 172 lbs of Lima, PER is 34-8.

Sanchez Decisions Munera

Evan Sanchez remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Alejandro Munera in a middleweight fight.

In round four, Sanchez dropped Munera with a right hook.

Sanchez, 149.8 lbs of Parlier, CA won by scores of 60-53 on all cards and is now 11-0. Munera, 147.6 lbs of Munera, COL is 6-5-4.

Alex Rincon stopped Luis Sanchez in round two of a scheduled eight-round middleweight bout.

In round two, Rincon dropped Sanchez with a right. Sanchez wobbled to his feet, but was able to continue…for a few seconds, as Rincon landed another big right that sent Sanchez down again, and the fight was stopped at 1:44

Rincon, 154.6 lbs of Dallas, TX is 10-0 with seven knockouts. Sanchez, 155 lbs of San Juan, PR is 9-3.

John Ramirez remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Roberto Pucheta in a bantamweight fight.

In round two, Pucheta had to bleed from the nose.

Ramirez, 117.2 lbs of Los Angeles, CA won by scores of and is now 9-0. Pucheta, 117 lbs of Jalisco, MEX is 10-21-3.

Alejandro Reyes won a six-round unanimous decision over Daniel Evangelista Jr. in a junior welterweight bout.

In round two, Evangelista was deducted a point for hitting behind the head. In round three, Reyes dropped Evangelista with two right hands to the head.

Reyes, 139.6 lbs of Mexicali, MEX won by scores of 60-51 on all cards and is now 7-0. Evangelista, 139.6 lbs of Mexico City is 20-13-2.

Miguel Gaona made extremely quick work over Gilberto Aguilar in a rematch in a scheduled four-roun junior welterweight clash.

Gaona dropped Aguilar with a body shot in the opening seconds, and Aguilar did not get up and the fight was over at 30 seconds.

Gaona, 139.6 lbs of El Sereno, CA is 2-0 with two knockouts. Aguilar, 140 lbs of Mexico City is 0-5.

Dalis Kaleiopu stopped Manuel Lara in the fourth and final round of their lightweight bout.

In round one, Kaleiopu dropped Lara with a right to the head. Later in the round, Lara went down from a body shot.

In round four, it was a three-punch combination to the head that dropped Lara to his knees and the bout was stopped at 2:15.

Kaleiopu, 132.4 lbs of Waianae, HA is 2-0 with two knockouts. Lara, 134.2 lbs of Celaya, MEX is 2-8.

Ramla Ali remained undefeated with 2nd round stoppage over Shelly Barnett in a scheduled eight-round super bantamweight fight.

In round one, Ali landed a hard right to the face that sent Barnett to the canvas. A moment later, another right put Barnett down again. In round two, Ali landed a big combination that forced a referee stoppage at 1:23.

Ali, 122.8 lbs of London, ENG is 5-0 with one knockout. Barnett, 122.8 lbs of Toronto, CAN is 5-7-2.

POMONA, CALIF. (Jan. 30, 2022): MarvNation Promotions kicked off its first event of the year in dramatic fashion last night as Jose Marrufo (13-10-2, 5 KOs) of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico scored an upset unanimous decision win against Angel “Moreno” Rodriguez (10-1, 7 KOs) of Pico Rivera, Calif. to capture the WBC USNBC Silver Super Lightweight Championship. The bout headlined a full night of action at the Derby Room in Pomona, California and was streamed live on MarvNation’s official YouTube channel.

Both fighters provided exciting toe-to-toe action for eight grueling rounds. Ultimately, however, Marrufo’s experience gave him a distinct advantage in the exchanges, which eventually earned him the decision victory. Marrufo won with two scores of 80-72, while one judge scored the fight 79-73.

“My opponent was a warrior,” said Marrufo. “He has a big crowd and a lot of support. That motivated me more in the fight. I’ll defend this title against any big name. This win is a dream come true for me.”

In the co-main event, Alejandro Reyes (6-0, 4 KOs) of Mexicali, Baja California Mexico, defeated Antonio Wattell (3-8-3, 1 KOs) of Houston, Texas via six-round unanimous decision in a super lightweight fight. Reyes won with scores of 59-55, 59-55 and 60-54. Reyes, who hails from the renowned Westside Boxing Club in Los Angeles, delivered a boxing lesson that featured come-forward offense for five rounds before culminating with a sixth round in which he boxed intelligently from the outside. Reyes also brought an enormous crowd who cheered him on from beginning to end.

Alfredo Hernandez (7-0, 4 KOs) of Downey, Calif. scored a unanimous decision win against Nicaraguan slugger Osmel Mayorga (2-4, 1 KO) in a four-round super welterweight clash. Hernandez won with three scores of 40-36.

Rising Mexican prospect Andy Dominguez (5-0, 3 KOs) scored a stunning knockout win against fellow countryman Jose Rodriguez (1-2, 1 KO) in a scheduled six-round super flyweight fight. Dominguez ended matters at 2:27 of the very first round.

Kyle Erwin (4-0, 2 KOs) of Oceanside, Calif. beat Jaylan Phillips (2-9) of Atlanta, Georgia via split decision in a four-round super lightweight fight. Erwin won with two scores of 38-37, while one judge scored it 38-37 in favor of Phillips.

Sergio Jimenez (5-0, 4 KOs) of Baldwin Park, Calif. defeated Ray Santiago (2-9) of Albany, New York via knockout in the third round of a four-round cruiserweight fight.

Jaivion Cardinal (5-0, 4 KOs) of Long Beach, Calif. stopped Tyler Jacques (0-2-1) of Orlando, Florida in the second round of a super middleweight fight originally scheduled for four. Cardinal won with a time of 1:46 of the aforementioned round.

Jesus Torres Beltran (5-1, 3 KOs) of Los Angeles, California beat Ryan Venable (2-10) of Roanoke, Virginia via unanimous decision in a four-round lightweight fight. Beltran won with two scores of 40-36 and one score of 39-37.

Carlos Rodriguez (2-0, 2 KOs) of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico defeated Jerell Nettles (1-2) of Denver Colorado via KO in a four-round cruiserweight fight. Rodriguez won with a time of 1:21 of the first round.
