Filip Hrgovic won the IBF Heavyweight title with an improbable ninth round comeback stoppage of prized prospect/contender Moses Itauma at The O2 Arena in London.

Early in round two, Itauma landed a little left hand that put Hrgovic on the canvas. Itauma dominated the first eight-rounds including pounding away and almost stopping Hrgovic.

In round nine, Hrgovic turned the table on a now exhausted Itauma. Hrgovic landed a plethora of unanswered blows and the towel was thrown in just as Itauma began to fall to the canvas at 2:27.

Hrgovic, 236.2 lbs of Zagreb, CRO is 21-1 with 13 knockouts. Itauma, 241.7 lbs of Chatham, ENG is 14-1.

Sam Noakes won a 10-round unanimous decision over Denys Berinchyk in a lightweight fight.

Noakes, 134.13 lbs of Maidse, ENG won by scores of 100-90. 98-92 and 97-93 and is now 19-1. Berinchyk, 134.1 lbs of Kyiv, UKR is 19-2.

Nelson Hysa stopped Thomas Narmo in the second round of their 10-round heavyweight bout.

In round two, Hysa dumped Narmo with a straight right and the fight was over at 36 seconds.

Constatin Ursu stopped Ben Vaughn in round eight due to a cut on the left eye in their 10-round welterweight bout.

Guido Vianelli and Moses Jolley battled to an eight-round draw in a heavyweight bout.

In round two, Jolly was bleeding under his right eye.

In round seven, Vianello had swelling under his left eye.

Zane Ahmed stopped Liam Fitzmaurice in the second round of their four-round super featherweight fight.

In round two, Ahmed dropped Fitzmaurice with a body shot. Ahmed continued the onslaight and the bout was stopped at 2:47.

Frankie Wood stopped Callum Smith in the sixth and final round of their featherweight bout.

In round six, Wood landed a right hook to the head that put Smith down and the fight was stopped at 1:21.

Tony Curtis Jr. won a six-round decision over Ahmad Naseem in a super flyweight bout.

Sam King won a four-round decision over Jack Swallow in a middleweight fight.

THE VACANT BRITISH welterweight championship will be on the line alongside the Commonwealth strap when Owen Cooper goes up against Constantin Ursu in ‘Under the Lights’ at Valliant Live, Derby on Saturday February 28, live on DAZN.

The ‘Under the Lights’ card will also feature 10-round action at super lightweight, with Olympian Luke McCormack taking on Kane Gardner, plus at middleweight, with Ben Fail facing Mason Cartwright.

The prize attached to the headline fight also includes the Commonwealth title won by Ursu (14-0, 6 KOs) when he scored a knockout victory over Eithan James in March of last year. The 25-year-old Moldovan, who resides in Plymouth, has since made a successful defence and won the WBO European title with victory over Ryan Amos in November.

Worcester’s Cooper (11-1, 4 KOs) impressively returned to the win column with victory over Chris Kongo last May in Nottingham, having lost out in a thrilling WBO European title against Ekow Essuman in 2024. He won the WBO belt, along with the English title, with his success over Eithan James earlier in the year.

McCormack (4-0, 3 KOs), from Sunderland, is taking a significant step up in class by going in with Gardner in just his fifth professional fight, with having previously only taken part in one eight round fight.

Gardner (18-5, 7 KOs) is a known tough customer who in 2023 went the distance with Pierce O’Leary in a WBC International title fight and only lost out by a round in a late 2024 Central Area title encounter with Reece MacMillan, a decision that cost him a multi-title fight against Jack Rafferty.

Northampton man Fail (10-0, 5 KOs) will also have his credentials severely tested against Cartwright (23-4, 9 KOs), a two-time British title challenger from Ellesmere Port. Cartwright’s challenges for the Lonsdale belt came against Troy Williamson and Samuel Antwi and the only losses on his record have come in title contention.

Cartwright, known as ‘Nutty’, is currently enjoying a four-fight winning streak.

“This is a cracking little show and a showcase for our up-and-coming talents,” said promoter Frank Warren. “This is where prospects get to prove themselves as potential contenders and show us all that they belong on the major events moving forward.

“The British title fight between Owen Cooper and Constantin Ursu should be a real banger and it is one I am looking forward to greatly because these fights nearly always deliver the goods and Owen’s fights always do anyway.

“We expect big things from Luke McCormack and Ben Fail and they will both be tested in a big way on February 28.”

Constantin Ursu remained undefeated with a 12-round unanimous decision over Ryan Amos in a welterweight bout at York Hall in London.

Ursu, 146.6 lbs of Moldova won by scores of 120-108 and 119-109 twice and is now 14-0. Amos, 145.2 lbs of Nottingham, ENG is 16-3-2.

Yaser Al Ghena won a 10-round unanimous decision over Mikey Lee Broughtin in a super lightweight bout.

Malik Zinad stopped Ante Bilic in round six of their eight-round light heavyweight bout.

In round three, Zinad dropped Bilic with a right to the head. Bilic began to bleed around his right eye.

In round six, Zinad uncorked about 15 unanswered blows with most of them being rights to the side of the head and the fight was stopped at 41 seconds.

Zinad, 174.2 lbs of Libya is 24-1 with 18 knockouts. Bilic, 171,2 lbs of Croatia is 32-4.

Robert Lloyd Taylor remained undefeated with a six-round decision over Harley Hodgetts in a middleweight fight.

Tiago Muxanga stopped Harley Collison in round five of their eight-round middleweight fight.

In round five, Muxanga dropped Collison with a left the body. In the same round, Ciollison began to bleed from his nose. Finally in the round, Muxanga landed another body shot that put Collison down and the fight was stopped at 2:24.

Muxanga, 154 lbs of Mozambique is 2-0 with two knockouts. Collison, 157.6 lbs of Southampton, ENG is 3-5-2.

Stevi Levi stopped Antonella Molina in round three of their four-round featherweight bout.

In round three, Levi landed nine unanswered shots, most of them getting through flush and the fight was stopped at 39 seconds.
