Artur Beterbiev scored an emphatic second round stoppage over Joe Smith Jr. to defend his IBF/WBC and add the WBO Light Heavyweight titles at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

At the end of round one, Beterbiev landed a short right to the side of the head that sent Smith down to a knee. In round two, it was another right that put Smith down. Seconds later, Beterbiev landed a hard combination for a third knockdown. Beterbiev finished off the fight when he landed two uppercuts and a right that wobbled Smith to the ropes and the fight was stopped at 2:19

Beterbiev of Montreal, CAN is 18-0 with 18 knockouts. Smith if Long Island, NY is 28-4.

Ramirez Knocks Out Nova in 5

Robeisy Ramirez stopped previously undefeated Abraham Nova in round five of their 10-round featherweight bout.

In round five, Ramirez landed a big left hand that put Nova flat on his back and the fight was over at 2:20.

Ramirez of Ciemfugos, CUB is 10-1 with six knockouts. Nova of Albany, NY is 21-1.

Bruce Carrington stopped Adrian Leyva after round five of their six-round featherweight bout.

Leyva was cut over his left eye in round five, and the bout was just stopped just as the sixth round was about to commence.

Carrington of Brooklyn, NY is 4-0 with three knockouts. Leyva of Guantanamo, CUB is 3-3-1.

Jahi Tucker remained undefeated with fourth round stoppage over D’Andre Smith in a welterweight contest.

The time was 2:27 for Tucker of Deer Park, NY who is now8-0 with five knockouts. Smith of Atlanta, GA is 10-2.

Floyd Diaz remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Danil Plantonovschi in a junior featherweight bout.

Diaz of Las Vegas won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 and is now 5-0. Plantonovschi of Brooklyn is 4-1.

Troy Isley stopped Donte Stubbs in the sixth and final round of their middleweight fight.

At the end of of round four, Isley dropped Stubbs with a perfect right to the jaw. In round six, Isley landed a perfect right that sent Stubbs to the canvas. Stubbs wobbled to his feet and the fight was stopped at

Isley of Alexandria, VA is 6-0 with four knockouts. Stubbs of Riverside, CA is 6-6.

Wendy Toussaint won a eight-round unanimous decision over Asinia Byfield in a junior middleweight fight.

Toussaint of Huntington, NY won by scores of 79-73 on all cards and is now 14-1. Byfield of Reading, ENG is 15-5-1.

Jahyae Brown won a six-round unanimous decision over Keane McMahon in a junior middleweight bout.

Brown of Schenectady, NY won by scores of 60-54 and 58-56 twice and is now 11-0. McMahon of Dyblin, IRE is 7-3.

Eric Tudor (4-0) went the distance for the first time in his young career Saturday night against the battle tested Donte Stubbs. The fight was part of the Angel “Tito” Acosta versus Janiel Rivera undercard that took place in Indio, California.

The fight nearly didn’t happen when Stubbs weighed in a whopping 3.5 pounds over the contracted 154 pound super welterweight limit.

After consulting with his team, Tudor decided that the opportunity to fight on a DAZN streamed card was worth the risk of taking on an overweight opponent.

“We were very surprised by how much he was overweight but we didn’t want to waste a training camp. Golden Boy and DAZN gave us an opportunity and we wanted to make the most of it.,” said Tudor. “This was my first time going the distance and it was a good experience going 6 full rounds.”

Tudor won all 6 rounds on all 3 judges scorecards and is looking to return to the ring in July.

The 20 year old Romanian Olympian made his pro debut in February when he stopped Dalton Duncan in 1 round.  He followed that impressive performance up with 2 more knockout victories before Saturday night.

If Tudor stays stays injury free, the plan is for him to fight at least 4 more times this year.

Former light flyweight world champion Angel Acosta needed just 77 seconds to take out Janel Rivera in their scheduled 10-round flyweight bout at the Fantasy Springs Resort in India, California.

Acosta hurt Rivera with a hard left hook and then landed about 20 unanswered shots and the fight was stopped.

Acosta, 112.8 lbs of San Juan, PR is now 23-3-1 with 22 knockouts. Rivera, 114 lbs of Vega Baja, PR is 18-9-3.

“I always train well for every fight, we knew Janiel was going to be a strong fighter and I didn’t want to under prepare for this fight,” said Angel Acosta. “I saw an opportunity to end the fight early and I took it. I had a great camp with Joel Diaz and I feel he got me ready for this. Naturally we trained to go the distance, but fortunately we ended it early and got a great victory. We want to go back to the gym train and look for another world championship shot, hopefully Julio Cesar Martinez or McWilliams Arroyo.”

Morales Decisions Torres

Victor Morales dropped Alberto Torres twice en-route to a 10-round unanimous decision in a featherweight bout.

Morales scored knockdowns in rounds five and 10, and cruised home to the 100-88 victory on all cards.

Morales landed 142 of 586 punches; Torres was 70 of 288.

Morales, 125.6 lbs of Portland, OR is now 16-0-1. Torres, 125.4 lbs of Sacramento, CA is 11-5-3.

“I felt great, I was in great condition, and I felt like I dominated the fight,” said Victor Morales. “I was enjoying myself. I could’ve gone 15 rounds. Opponent was an awkward southpaw, but I broke him down and let my hands go. I felt the head butt. I was hoping it was him that got the worst of it, and then shortly realized it was me, but that’s boxing especially when you’re fighting a lefty. But overall I feel great about my performance today.” 

Garcia Decisions Olguin

Rudy Garcia remained undefeated with an eight-round unanimous decision over Diuhl Olguin in a featherweight contest.

Garcia landed 124 of 465 punches; Olguin was 75 of 304.

Garcia, 125 lbs of Los Angeles, CA won by scores of 80-72 and 79-73 twice and is now 13-0-1. Olguin, 124.8 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 15-23-5.

“I knew the fighter was going to be tough,” said Rudy Garcia. “He has a lot of experience and I had to adjust because he kept coming in with his head. Obviously, I got a head butt that stung me so we had to adjust mid fight and got the decision.  I had to go back to the amatuer mentality and outpoint him.”  

Brenes Decisions Perez

Jimmy Brenes remained undefeated with a four-round majority decision over Hector Perez in a welterweight bout.

Brenes landed 90 of 271 punches; Perez was 50 of 233.

Brenes, 146.2 lbs of Masaya, NIC won by scores of 40-36 twice and 38-38 and is now 2-0. Perez, 145.8 lbs of West Los Angeles, CA

“Perez gave me a good fight, he came to do what he needed to do. I came in and did what I needed to do to win and I am happy the judges also saw it my way. I know I still have a lot to improve and that’s what we are going to do. We are going to go back to the gym, train, and get better; that’s how world champions are made,” said Jimmy Brenes. 

Tudor Decisions Stubbs

Eric Tudor remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Donte Stubbs in a middleweight bout.

Tudor landed 90 of 282 punches; Stubbs was 51 of 343.

Tudor, 154 lbs of Hollywood, FLA won on all cards by 60-54 scores and is now 3-0. Stubbs, 157.5 lbs of Riverside, CA is 6-5.

“I am happy that I was able to dictate the pace of the fight and we are fortunate for the outcome,” said Eric Tudor. “We knew he was going to be a tough fighter, my job was to just maintain my composure. He did get me with some shots that I wasn’t supposed to get hit with. I am very happy with my performance, like I said I was able to keep my composure and I am glad we were able to go the distance, that’s what we train for.” 

In a battle of former world champions, Jesus Ramirez won a 12-round unanimous decision over Jose Pedraza in a junior welterweight bout at The Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

It was a tactical fight with Ramirez looking to push forward, while Pedraza was getting in good work while working off the back foot and countering. In round, nine, the right eye of Pedraza began to swell.

Ramirez landed 133 of 554 punches; Pedraza was 110 of 586.

Ramirez, 139.8 lbs of Avenal, CA won by scores of 116-112 on all cards and is now 27-1. Pedraza140 lbs of Cidra, PR is 29-4.

Ramirez said, “Jose Pedraza is a smart, experienced fighter. He was going to find a way to survive and put up a fight. He was there boxing towards the end of the fight.  My hat’s off to him and his team. He was well-prepared. It was a great fight. I got to see where I am right now.

“I’m going to go back, work and stay focused and stay active. That’s one thing that’s affected me these last couple of years. I’ve trained so many times for a little bit of fights. My inactivity, my discouragement throughout training camps, it really took a big toll on me. I’m ready to stay active and stay motivated. There’s a lot of really great fighters coming up to 140. There’s a lot of really good fighters at 140 right now.”

Torrez Jr. stops Melson in 2

2021 U.S. Olympic Silver Medal winner, Richard Torrez Jr. made a successful pro debut as he stopped Allen Melson in round two of their six-round heavyweight bout

In round one, Torrez dropped Melson in the corner with a little combination. Melson’s nose began to bleed. Torrez began to bleed badly over his left eye from a clash of heads. In round two, Torrez dropped Melson with a straight left. the fight ended when Torrez dropped Melson with a left after a furious exchange, and the fight was stopped at 1:23.

Torrez, 228.2 lbs of Tulure, CA is 1-0 with one knockout. Melson, 201.8 lbs of Alabama is 6-4.

Torrez said, “After the cut, I knew I had to get back to basics, and that’s what I did. I made sure to avoid additional head clashes, and I got the job done in the second.
 
“Sure, the cut is frustrating, but I’m not going to let it ruin the celebration. What a night. It was everything I’d hoped it would be.
 
“I didn’t know what to expect. I wanted to make a good first impression, especially in front of my home fans. They brought the energy, and I fed off the energy they gave me. The Central Valley is home, and I am proud to represent my people.”

Gonzalez stops Santisima in 9

Joet Gonzalez stopped Jeo Santisima in round nine of a scheduled 10-round featherweight bout of former world title challengers.

In round eight, Samtisima started to swell under his right eye. In round nine, Gonzalez landed a couple of right hands and the fight was stopped at 2:05.

Gonzalez, 125.8 lbs of Glendora, CA is now 25-2 with 15 knockouts. Santisima, 125.2 lbs of the Philippines is 21-4.

Gabriel Flores Jr. gutted out a 10-round majority decision over Abraham Montoya in a junior lightweight bout.

Flores looked good early, but seemed to tire in the middle rounds and started eating flush punches. Flores was better in the final frame.

Flores landed 177 of 503 punches; Montoya was 174 of 597.

Flores, 131.6 lbs of Stockton, CA won by scores of 96-94 twice and 95-95 and is now 21-1. Montoya, 131.8 lbs of Mexicali, MEX is 20-3-1.

Hector Tanajara and Miguel Contreras fought to an eight-round split draw in a lightweight bout.

Tanajara won a card 78-84, Contreras took a card 77-75 and a third card was even at 76-76.

Tanajara, 135 lbs of San Antonio, TX is 19-1-1. Contreras, 134.2 lbs of Bakersfield, CA is 11-1-1.

Karlos Balderas stopped Aelio Medquita in round two of a scheduled six-round lightweight bout.

Seconds into the bout, Balderas landed a big right hand that sent Mesquita down for a knockdown. Towards the end of the round, it was another right that sent Mesquita to the deck for a 2nd time. In round two, Balderas landed another right sent Mesquita down and the fight was over at 38 seconds.

Balderas, 134.2 lbs of Santa Maria, CA is 12-1 with 11 knockouts. Mesquita, 131.2 lbs of Guajua, BRA is 20-7-1.

Javier Martinez remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Donte Stubbs in a middleweight bout.

In round two, Stubbs began to bleed from his nose. In round three, Stubbs dropped Martinez with a straight right.

Martinez, 161.8 lbs of Milwaukee, WI won by scores of 59-56 and 58-55 twice and is now 6-0. Stubbs, 163 lbs of Riverside, CA is 6-4.

Charlie Sheehy remained undefeated with an opening round stoppage over previously undefeated Johnny Bernal in a scheduled four-round lightweight bout.

In round one, Sheehy rocked Bernal with a hard right and followed up with another hard right that sent Bernal into the ropes for a knockdown. Sheehy hurt Bernal again with a left hook. Sheehy then landed a vicious combination that forced a referee stoppage at 2:33.

Sheehy, 134.2 lbs of Brisbane, CA is 2-0 with two knockouts. Bernal, 135 lbs of Denver, CO is 2-1.

6’9″ Antonio Mireles remained perfect as he stopped previously undefeated Brandon Hughes in round two of their scheduled four-round heavyweight bout.

In round one, Mireles landed a perfect jab-straight left that sent Hughes down on his face. Moments later it was another straight left that put Hughes down just before the end of the round. In round two, Mireles landed a big left hand that hurt Hughes and the fight was stopped just as Hughes hit the canvas at 1:04.

Mireles, 259.4 lbs of Des Moines, IA is 3-0 with three knockouts. Hughes, 282.4 lbs of Phoenix, AZ is 2-1

CORONA, CA (June 2, 2021) – Thompson Boxing Promotions’ undefeated super welterweight prospect, Richard “Cool Breeze” Brewart Jr. (9-0, 4 KOs), will square off against Donte Stubbs (6-1, 2 KOs) in a 6-round bout that will serve as the co-main event on the next edition of 3.2.1. Boxing.

The main event will showcase Michael “The West Texas Warrior” Dutchover (14-1, 10 KOs), who is co-promoted with Banner Promotions, versus Ivan Leon Benitez (14-4-1, 6 KOs) in an 8-round junior welterweight showdown.
The opening 6-round bout will feature Jose “Tito” Sanchez (6-0, 4 KOs) vs. Andrew Strode (6-0, 1 KO) in a battle of unbeaten featherweights.

On his recent training camp:
“I’m happy with this training camp, it’s been very productive. I have worked on some new things that I learned from last fight against Nate Weston. I want to show people the new aspects of my game. “He is too easy to hit. His last two opponents dropped him, and the commentators thought he lost his last fight. This is going to be a rough night for him, as everything that went wrong in those fights will happen again, and worse.”

On making his 2021 debut:
“Now that the pandemic has come to its final stages, I am happy to be back in the ring, as this will be first fight of the year, and I hope to have many more after this. I stayed in shape during my time out of the ring, and I’m going to make the best out of the rest of this year.”

Former world title challenger Carlos Takam won a 10-round unanimous decision over Jerry Forrest in a heavyweight bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Takam was was more active and landed more shots early.

In round four, Takam was cut below his eye from a head clash. After that Forrest picked up a little bit, but it was too little-too late as Takam won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94.

Takam landed 106 of 455 punches; Forrest was 70 of 321.

Takam, 245.7 lbs of Douala, CAM is now 39-5-1. Forrest, 225.6 lbs of Newport News, VA is 26-4.

“My father passed away a week ago, so I came into the fight with a heavy heart. It may not have been a spectacular knockout, but most importantly, we got the win,” Takam said. “We took this fight on short notice, but the opportunity on ESPN was too big to pass up. We knew we could beat him regardless.

“I want anyone in the top five, or a title shot if that materializes.” 

Carlos Castro remained undefeated by stopping former two-time world title-challenger Cesar Juarez after round four of their scheduled 10-round super bantamweight fight.

Castro beat up and battered Juarez. In round’s three and four, Castro was especially effective by landing some crushing body blows, and the bout was stopped in the corner.

Castro, 123.8 lbs of Phoenix, AZ is now 26-0 with 11 knockouts. Juarez, 124.4 lbs of Mexico City is 25-9.

“I admire Cesar Juarez as a Mexican warrior and for everything he’s given the sport. I told him it was an honor to share the ring with him,” Castro said. “I want any title opportunity or an interim title shot. Whatever comes my way, I am ready. I am highly ranked and prepared for the next step.”

In a battle of undefeated junior lightweights, Joshafat Ortiz won a six-round majority decision over Joshua Orta.

In round five, Ortiz was cut around his right eye from an accidental headbutt. Ortiz banked the 1st four frames by working the body behind a nice jab.

Ortiz landed 74 of 354 punches; Orta was 75 of 293.

Ortiz, 130.8 lbs of Ponce, PR and now residing in Reading, PA won by scores 58-56 twice and 57-57 to raise his mark to 8-0. Orta, 132.7 lbs of Springfield, MA is 6-1.

Donte Stubbs won a six-round unanimous decision over Fred Wilson Jr. in a middleweight bout.

In round three, Stubbs was bleeding from his nose. Later in the round, Stubbs dropped Wilson with a right hand.

In round four, Wilson was deducted a point for holding. In round five, Stubs dropped Wilson for a 2nd time with a long right hand to the head.

Stubbs landed 88 of 291 punches. Wilson was 62 of 262.

Stubbs, 159.5 lbs of Riverside, California won by scores of 58-54 and 58-53 twice and bounced back from his 1st professional loss nine days ago, and is now 7-1. Wilson, 159 lbs of Cleveland, OH is 6-1-2.

NEW YORK (July 1, 2020) – Split-T Management’s Isiah Jones scored a six-round majority decision over previously undefeated Donte Stubbs in a middleweight bout at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Jones of Detroit was fighting for the 2nd time in two weeks, outworked Stubbs, and won by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57.

The fight was televised live on ESPN.

With the win, it pushed the record of the 2016 National Golden Gloves champion to 9-2..

The 25 year-old took the fight on short notice, and improved on his performance from June 16th, when he dropped a decision to Nikoloz Sekhniashvili. Stubbs was the 3rd consecutive undefeated fighter that Jones has faced.

Former world title challenger Alex Saucedo won a 10-round unanimous decision over Sonny Fredrickson in a junior welterweight bout at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Saucedo outlanded Fredrickson 318-172 and was much more active and landing the more telling blows throughout the contest.

Saucedo, 140.8 lbs of Oklahoma City, OK won by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92 and is now 30-1. Fredrickson, 140.9 lbs of Toledo, OH is 21-3.

“We worked on a lot of things in the gym. It was important for me to get the rounds in, and Sonny was a tough opponent,” Saucedo said. “I am ready to take over the 140-pound division. Whatever opportunity comes my way, I will take advantage of it. Most importantly, I got rid of the ring rust and went 10 hard rounds.”

Josue Vargas won a 10-round unanimous decision over Salvador Briceno in a junior welterweight bout.

In round six, Vargas was cut over the left eye from an accidental headbutt. Vargas outlanded Briceno 187-77.

Vargas, 140.5 lbs of Bronx, NY won by scores of 100-90 twice and 99-91 and is now 17-1. Briceno, 138.2 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 17-6.

John Bauza remained undefeated by pounding out a eight-round unanimous decision over Larry Fyers in a junior welterweight bout.

Bauza, 139.3 lbs of Catano, PR won by scores of 80-72 twice and 79-73 and is now 14-0. Fryers, 138.9 lbs of Clones, IRL is 11-3.

Fighting for the 2nd time in two weeks, Isiah Jones won a six-round majority decision over previously undefeated Donte Stubbs in a middleweight bout.
