El Cajon, CA (August 17, 2021) International Boxing Hall of Famer Lou DiBella announced today that top Mexican heavyweight prospect Elvis “Semental” Garcia (11-0, 8 KOs), of Tacoma, WA, by way of Puerta de Mangos, Nayarit, Mexico, will take on Joel Shojgreen (10-2, 9 KOs), of Brooklyn, NY, in a scheduled eight-round battle for the WBC Continental Americas Bridgerweight Title. The event, headlined by world champion Kali Reis defending her crown, will be streamed live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS®, the world’s leading streaming service for combat sports, starting at 8:00pm PT / 11:00pm ET.

Garcia vs. Shojgreen is one of the featured fights on Friday, August 20, on the Broadway Boxing event from the beautiful Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, CA. Promoted by DiBella Entertainment, tickets, starting at $69, may be purchased HERE. The Sycuan Casino Resort is located at 5469 Casino Way, El Cajon, CA 92019, thirty minutes from Downtown San Diego. Doors will open on the night of the event at 7:00pm PT.

Elvis Garcia has dedicated himself to a long-term, impactful fitness and nutrition program, which will see him enter the ring on Friday night in the best condition of his professional boxing career that began four years ago. The WBC’s Bridgerweight division has a weight limit of 224 pounds. Known for his heavy hands, the charismatic Garcia last fought on June 26, earning an eighth-round stoppage win against Daniel Cota Peinado. Referred to as Anthony Joshua’s “secret weapon”, Garcia served as Joshua’s main sparring partner in preparation for his world heavyweight championship rematch against Andy Ruiz in December 2019. Fighting for the third time in 2021, the powerful Shojgreen returns to action following two first-round knockouts earlier this year in Mexico.

“One of the most important lessons that I’ve learned from my coach, Joel Diaz, is the need to pay close attention to the things outside the ring. I have focused on proper nutrition and a fitness plan that I adhere to every day, and not just when I have a fight scheduled, that I feel has made me a much better fighter and athlete,” said Garcia.

“I am very excited to be fighting Joel Shojgreen for the WBC Continental Americas Bridgerweight title, live on UFC Fight Pass. All of the work that my team and I have put in at the gym will show on Friday night and I feel confident that, at the end of the night, the belt will be mine. Being Mexican, the green belt holds a special significance to me and a victory will get me one step closer to accomplishing my dream of becoming a WBC world champion. I want to thank Lou DiBella and Mauricio Sulaiman for this tremendous opportunity.”

Headlining the broadcast, WBA 140lb. World Champion Kali “K.O. Mequinonoag” Reis (17-7-1, 5 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA, who is the first female Native American boxing world champion, makes the first defense of her world title against Los Angeles-based Australian veteran and former world champion Diana Prazak (14-3, 9 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout. The division’s vacant IBO Title will also be at stake.

Fighting in a scheduled eight-round WBA 147lb. World Title Eliminator, dubbed the “Thrilla for CasKilla”, Alma “The Conqueror” Ibarra (8-1, 4 KOs), of Monterrey, Mexico, faces Kandi “Krush” Wyatt (10-2, 3 KOs), of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The winner will become the mandatory challenger for undisputed world champion Jessica McCaskill.

In a scheduled 10-round bout, Jessica “The Cobra” Camara (8-2), of Montreal, Canada, will face former world champion Victoria Bustos (21-6), for the vacant WBO 140lb. World Title. Camara’s world title opportunity follows her victory against former world champion Heather Hardy on May 14, 2021.

The off-TV undercard features plenty of local talent. Cruiserweight newcomers will battle in a four-round bout as Ben Alvarez (1-0, 1KO), of San Diego, CA, faces Jerell Nettles (0-1), of Denver, CO. In the super featherweight division, San Diego’s Austin Brooks (1-0, 1KO), takes on Jesus Torres Beltran (4-0, 3 KOs), of San Bernardino, CA. Over four rounds in the super lightweight division, pro debuting William King, of Perris, CA, challenges Oscar Mendoza (0-1), of San Rafael, CA. Welterweight pro debuters Jacob Macololooy, of San Diego, and Oscar Mendoza, of San Ardo, clash in a four-rounder. The division’s vacant IBO title will also be on the line. In 2016, Reis became the first female Native American to win a world boxing title when she captured the WBC middleweight championship.

Reis has recently garnered a wealth of positive headlines from the entertainment industry for her starring role in the cinematic release, “Catch the Fair One”, which tells the story of kidnapped Indigenous women. Inside the ring, Reis, a two-division world champion, won the vacant WBA super lightweight world title with a dominant 10-round unanimous decision against Kandi Wyatt, on November 6, 2020, in St. Petersburg, FL. Prazak is a former 130-pound WBC world champion, who made her triumphant ring return, following a six-year layoff, with a shutout unanimous decision versus Milagros Gabriela Diaz, on March 13, 2021.

Determined to reclaim world championship glory once again, Bustos last fought Maria Soledad Capriolo, on June 12, 2021, earning a decision victory.

In Wyatt’s last bout, she lost a thrilling world title challenge on points to Reis late last year.

Top Mexican heavyweight prospect Elvis Garcia (11-0, 8 KOs), of Tacoma, WA, by way of Puerta de Mangos, Nayarit, Mexico, will compete in an eight-round special attraction bout against fellow Mexican Rafael Rios (11-3, 8 KOs), born in Tijuana, now fighting out of San Diego, CA. The charismatic Garcia, known for his heavy hands, hits the ring following an eighth-round stoppage of Daniel Cota Peinado, on June 26, 2021. CHARLES “BAD NEWS” CONWELL RETURNS TO ACTION SATURDAY NIGHT

New York, NY (June 25, 2021) Top undefeated junior middleweight contender Charles “Bad News” Conwell and undefeated Mexican heavyweight prospect Elvis Garcia return to action tomorrow, Saturday night, June 26. Both are promoted by International Boxing Hall-of-Famer Lou DiBella’s DiBella Entertainment.

The 23-year-old Conwell (14-0, 11 KOs), a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic boxing team, will face battle-tested veteran Silverio Ortiz, of Merida, Mexico, in an eight-round clash at the Boyd County Community Center, in Ashland, KY.

Hailing from Cleveland, OH, Conwell had an outstanding three-fight run in 2020, including his two career-best victories. Fighting on October 7, in a bout broadcast on Showtime’s ShoBox series, Conwell stopped previously undefeated Wendy Toussaint in the ninth round. Following up on December 17, Conwell knocked out Madiyar Ashkeyev, also previously unbeaten, in the ninth round. The main event was telecast on NBC Sports Network presented by Ring City USA.

Conwell was due to return to the Ring City platform in April, but was forced to withdraw following a hand injury. He was then scheduled to fight on the undercard of the Triller Fight Club event in June featuring Teofimo Lopez versus George Kambosos, but the card was postponed when Lopez tested positive for Covid.

“Charles Conwell just might be the most talented 154-pounder in the world. That’s not just hyperbole, it’s fact. If not for boxing’s ‘three avenues of exclusivity,’ the boxing world would know it and Charles would have already gotten the exposure he deserves,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “We were anticipating that kind of exposure due to the opportunity provided by Triller Fight Club, but Covid caused a second postponed fight in a row. A top young talent needs to fight. You can’t keep peaking for a performance only to sit idle. We’re happy that we’re able to get Charles in the ring so quickly and that he understands how important it is to be an active fighter.”

“It’s disappointing that I had two significant television fights canceled due to injury and Covid, but I’ve been training all year and needed to get in the ring,” said Conwell. “I’m grateful to my team for getting me back into the ring this fast after the June 19 date went down.”

The 31-year-old Garcia (10-0, 7 KOs), from Xalisco, Nayarit, Mexico, now fighting out of Indio, CA, faces Daniel Cota (20-8-1, 11 KOs), of Los Mochis, Mexico, in a scheduled 10-round bout at the Big Punch Arena, in Tijuana, Mexico. A sparring partner of unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, Garcia kicked off his 2021 campaign with a third-round knockout of Derek Cardenas on March 20.

“Elvis Garcia is extremely talented but not your prototypical 21st century heavyweight. Due to his hard work and dedication, he’s now a small heavyweight in shape and ready to perform at his best,” said DiBella. “In his previous fights, he’s averaged weighing over 250 pounds. He weighed in today at 222.5 pounds, looking like a different person. I’m very proud of him because he’s giving himself the best opportunity to become a champion.”

Said Garcia, “As a proud dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, the WBC belt has always been an important goal of mine. I’ve never felt or looked better and I am willing to step up in competition after this fight. I’ve re-sculpted my whole body, now weighing below 224 pounds, and I’d love to compete at both bridgerweight and heavyweight.”

UNDEFEATED HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECTS ELVIS GARCIA AND SAHRET DELGADO BATTLE IN CO-FEATURE TO PHILLY SPECIAL AT 2300 ARENA ON FRIDAY, MARCH 27

PHILADELPHIA, PA —Unbeaten heavyweight prospects Elvis “Semental” Garcia, of Jalisco, Mexico, and Sahret “The Hammer” Delgado, of Humacao, Puerto Rico, square off in an attractive eight-round co-feature on the Philly Special fight card, scheduled for Friday, March 27, at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.

The Raging Babe card is topped by the highly anticipated Philly vs. Philly matchup: Stevie Ortiz vs. Damon Allen, in a 10-round bout for Ortiz’ Pennsylvania State Lightweight Title. The card will be televised live on the Impact Network. Garcia vs. Delgado is presented in association with DiBella Entertainment.

“I’m excited to announce that we’ve added a great co-feature to Raging Babe’s Philly Special, in association with DiBella Entertainment. Mexican American Elvis Garcia takes on Puerto Rican Sahret Delgado in a rare clash of rising, unbeaten heavyweight prospects. Both fighters are coming in with stellar amateur backgrounds,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “Prior to this training camp, Elvis worked as one of Anthony Joshua’s chief sparring partners for the Andy Ruiz rematch and Delgado has a great corner behind him, lead by coach Chino Rivas, who also trains Stevie Ortiz and Tevin Farmer.”

The 30-year-old Garcia, now living in Indio, CA, is 8-0, 5 KOs, as a pro. Trained by Joel Diaz, Garcia returns to the ring following a victory against Hugo Trujillo in Hollywood, CA.

Garcia also gained invaluable experience working as the “secret weapon sparring partner” that promoter Eddie Hearn referred to with regard to Anthony Joshua’s preparation for his rematch against Andy Ruiz last year. Joshua went on to decisively defeat Ruiz to regain his world title belts.

Prior to turning pro nearly three years ago, Garcia was an outstanding amateur with a record of 85-10, 42 KOs. After winning gold at the Washington State Golden Gloves, as well as a silver and two bronze medals at the USA National Tournaments, Garcia moved to Tijuana, Mexico, where he won the Mexican National Championships and the Mexican Golden Gloves Tournament twice.

The 25-year-old Delgado, living in Berlin, NJ, is 8-0, 7 KOs, as a pro. In his last fight on October 4, at the 2300 Arena, Delgado outpointed Joel Caudle over four rounds. Now trained by Chino Rivas, Delgado is a stablemate of headliner Steven Ortiz and former junior lightweight world champions Tevin Farmer and Jason Sosa.

Delgado was a standout amateur in Puerto Rico with over 215 bouts as part of his six-year term with the Puerto Rican Olympic Team. He was the country’s National Youth Champion for three straight years and also won gold at international tournaments in Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Trinidad & Tobago.

The card kicks off at 7:30pm ET on Friday, March 27. Tickets, priced at $50, $75 and $125, are on sale now, and can be purchased by visiting 2300arena.com or by calling (267) 273-0945.

DIBELLA ENTERTAINMENT SIGNS TOP MEXICAN HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECT ELVIS GARCIA

New York, NY (June 19, 2019) When Andy Ruiz upset Anthony Joshua earlier this month, stunning the boxing world to become the first heavyweight champion of Mexican descent, it was an inspirational victory for many, including Mexican heavyweight prospect Elvis Garcia (8-0, 6 KOs). Signed by DiBella Entertainment to an exclusive promotional agreement, Garcia is determined to make his mark on the heavyweight division.

“Elvis Garcia is a promising and hard-working heavyweight with great talent. He was born in Mexico, lives in the United States, and has fought in and for both countries, holding dual citizenship,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “The heavyweight division is thriving right now and I look forward to working with Elvis to bring him the best opportunities to fulfill his potential.”

“I was speechless and emotional when I got the call from Lou DiBella saying that he wanted to sign me to a promotional contract,” said Garcia. “Up to this point of my life, I’ve been on a long tough road, but now I am very excited for my future. I am proud and grateful to be promoted by DiBella Entertainment. I want to thank Lou for the opportunity and I trust that, with his guidance in and out of the ring, we will make a lot of noise in the heavyweight division.”

Born in Nayarit, Mexico, Garcia moved with his family to Umatilla, OR, at age four. He had a strong athletic background growing up, excelling in soccer, wrestling, and jiu jitsu. Often competing in USA National Tournaments, Garcia won two gold medals as a Greco-Roman wrestler and three in jiu jitsu. Garcia also dabbled in mixed martial arts, winning three professional MMA matches by submission.

Encouraged by his jiu jitsu instructors, Garcia decided to take up boxing after graduating high school. However, the closest boxing gym to Umatilla was 260 miles away in Tacoma, WA, and Garcia was making eight-hour roundtrips five days a week to train. That dedication resulted in an impressive 85-10 amateur record, with 42 knockouts.

Garcia won the Washington State Golden Gloves tournament twice, as well as a silver and two bronze medals at the USA National Tournament, and was ranked #3 at super heavyweight in the United States amateur program. Following his last bronze medal performance, Garcia was awarded a berth on the Mexican National Boxing Team and moved to Tijuana to be closer to where the team trained. He then won the Mexican National Championships and the Mexican Golden Gloves Tournament twice.

While competing in Mexico, Garcia worked odd jobs to earn money. Rather than use his savings to pay rent, Garcia opted to live out of his car for an entire year, sending his earnings back home to help support his family.

Shortly after his pro debut in May 2017, Garcia was connected with managers who provided him with living expenses in Tijuana and a place to train in San Diego, CA, where he also worked nights as a security guard. Though, he was once again making long daily commutes between his home and gym. In late 2018, Garcia was set up with renowned trainer Joel Diaz in Indio, CA, where he relocated to focus on his boxing career full-time.

“Elvis is the hardest working heavyweight I have ever seen,” said Diaz. “He trains like a featherweight. No fighter in my gym is hungrier or has a bigger heart.”

The 29-year-old Garcia is coming off two wins thus far in 2019, going the six-round distance for the first time with a unanimous decision against Alejandro Garduno in February then stopping Ramon Olivas in two rounds in April.

Details on Garcia’s debut for DiBella Entertainment will be announced shortly.
