Sandoval Defeats Teraji Ro Win Unified Flyweight Titles

Ricardo Sandoval won the WBA/WBC Flyweight title with a 12-round split decision over Kenshiro Teraji in Japan.

Scores were 117-110 and 115-112 for Sandoval. Teraji won a card 114-113.

Sandoval, 111 3/4 lbs of Rialto, CA is now 27-2. Teraji, 111 1/2 lbs of Yokoyama, JAP is 25-2.

Antonio Vargas Gets Late Knockdown to Salvage Draw and Title Against Higa

Antonio Vargas retained the WBA Bantamweight title with a 12-round draw with Daigo Higa,

In round four, Higa dropped Vargas with a left hook.

In round 12, Vargas landed a little right uppercut on the inside that put Higa on the canvas.

That knockdown was extremely important as all scorecards read 113-113.

Vargasm 117 1/4 lbs of Kissimmee, FL is 19-1-1. Higa of Okinawa, JAP 20-3-3.

Takami Wins WBA Light Flyweight Title with 10th Round Stoppage over Rosa

Kyosuke Takami won the WBA Light Flyweight title with a 10th round stoppage over Erick Rosa.

In round 10, Takami dropped Rosa with a straight left. Rosa was hurt badly and Takami followed up with a hard flurry and the fight was stopped at 2:48

Takami, 107 3/4 lbs of Tokyo is 10-0 with eight knockouts. Rosa, 107 3/4 lbs is 8-1.




Rosa-Reyes for the Gold belt in the Dominican Republic

Erick Rosa and Yudel Reyes will step into the ring on Friday to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Gold belt during the main event to be held at the Fencing Pavilion of the Olympic Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. 

Rosa, former minimum world champion, moved up a category to start a new path that will allow him to continue growing as a fighter and the first step will be this bout for the belt of the pioneer organization.

The southpaw fighter will fight at home after a camp in Las Vegas, which will serve as motivation for his return to the ring. His most recent fight was on August 25 against Venezuelan Orlando Pino, whom he defeated by technical knockout in eight rounds. 

Reyes, who is 27 years old, has quite an interesting experience. The Monterrey native defeated Jose Calderon Cervantes in his last fight in May and has faced good opponents in his career, including current world champion Oscar Collazo. 

Rosa has a record of 6 wins, no losses and 2 knockouts, while Reyes comes into the fight with 16 wins, 2 losses and 6 knockouts.




WBA Minimum Weight Resolution

The World Boxing Association (WBA), through its Championships Committee, issued a resolution for the minimum weight in which it ordered a Purse bid between Thammanoon Niyomtrong and Erick Rosa for next July 21, to be held via Zoom
