A huge night of Championship boxing is locked in at Manchester’s Co-op Live on Saturday, September 19 – live worldwide on DAZN – as Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing today announced an exciting undercard, featuring Shabaz Masoud.

John Hedges and Pat Brown headline at the state-of-the-art venue when the two undefeated rivals collide for the vacant British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight Titles.

And the unbeaten ‘Maverick’ Masoud moves up a weight division as he challenges Argentina’s Ckari Mansilla (19-4, 13 KOs) for the vacant IBF Intercontinental and WBA International Titles.

The Stoke-on-Trent star was sensational in his last outing back in December last year when he overcame Peter McGrail for the European Super Bantamweight crown with a classy, unanimous points victory.

Now the 15-0, 4 KOs, fighter – who is trained by Ben Davison – is looking to rise up the rankings and challenge for honours in the 126lbs division.

Another fighter looking to make his mark at a bigger weight division is Northampton’s Kieron Conway.

Conway (23-4-1, 7 KOs) returns to the ring for the first time since last October when he bravely surrendered his British and Commonwealth titles in a stoppage defeat by George Liddard at York Hall.

But he is bidding to campaign for the prestigious Lonsdale belt once more at Super Middleweight when he steps up to challenge former English Super Middleweight ruler Mark Jeffers in a British title eliminator. 

The ‘Wigan Warrior’ Joe Howarth (15-2, 4 KOs), in his first fight since February, is back too as he takes on Lancashire’s undefeated Josh Holmes (18-0, 7 KOs). 

Manchester’s own Alfie Middlemiss – trained by Jamie Moore – looks to extend his impressive start to life as a professional when the 23-year-old 6-0 charge faces Ireland’s ’Short Fuse’ Featherweight Gerard Hughes (6-1-1).

Another local lad in Lancashire’s Tom Rafferty (187-0, 7 KOs) is out to ensure he maintains his 100 per cent record too when the Middleweight prospect takes on Ireland’s ‘Kingdom Kid’ Liam Walsh (9-1-2, 4 KOs).

And exciting Welsh youngster Garan Croft, who trains out of former World Champion Anthony ‘Million Dollar’ Crolla’s Manchester gym, joins the card as the 6-0, 2 KOs Middleweight hopeful bid to continue his flourishing career with his seventh career victory.

A Christmas cracker is coming to London as one of the UK’s hottest prospects Giorgio Visoli headlines a card stacked with the next generation of British boxing superstars on Wednesday, December 17, at Indigo, at The O2 – live worldwide on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN.

The festive Fight Night sees the unbeaten 9-0 (6 KOs) Lightweight return to the UK, fresh from his impressive US debut in Philadelphia earlier this month when he defeated James Wilkins.

Now he faces a tough test in an eliminator for the English title against the 14-1 (4 KOs) ‘Wigan Warrior’ Joe Howarth – managed by popular Heavyweight star, Dave Allen.

In the co-main event, the English Cruiserweight Title is on the line as ’The Gentleman’ John Hedges collides with Ellis Zorro.

Zorro, a former WBO European and British title challenger, stepped up to face the ‘King of the Cruiserweights’, Jai Opetaia, in December 2023 and was spectacularly stopped in the first round.

The Bromley fighter fell to Chev Clarke a year ago in Leeds too and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after falling on points to Aloys Junior in Bournemouth back in July.

Former Southern Area holder Hedges is determined to add the huge domestic scalp of Zorro to his CV, and notably stage a winning performance in honour of his late trainer, Ricky Hatton.

And after a successive first outing to the capital earlier this month, Ayton is ready to light up The Indigo at The O2 and kickstart her push to claim championships next year.

Ayton said:“I had a week off last week but now it’s straight back in the gym again for December 17th. I can’t wait to get back to London again and make it 4 and 0 as a pro and then in 2026 I want to start chasing titles.”

Fellow exciting prospects Leli Buttigieg, Taylor Bevan and Adam Maca are also on the exciting card – with the trio plotting to make respective statements to close out the year.

Dave Allen stopped previously undefeated Johnny Fisher in round five of their 10-round heavyweight rematch at the Copper Box Arena in London England.

Fisher boxed well over the first four-plus round until he ate a thudding combination that was punctuated by a right hand to the top of the heas that put Fisheron the canvas. Fisher was hurt and Allen landed a devastating left hook that plummeted Fisher face-first on the canvas and the towel was thrown in at 3:00.

Fisher, 265 lbs of Dorncaster, ENG is 24-7-2 with 19 knockouts. Fisher, 245.3 lbs of Romford, ENG is 13-1.

The fight was a rematch of Fisher’s controversial split-decision win on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

George Liddard remained undefeated with a fifth round stoppage over Aaron Sutton in a 10-round middleweight bout.

In the first minute of the fight, Liddard dropped Sutton with a big left hook to the jaw. In round two, it was another big left hook that put Sutton on his back. In round five, Liddard ended things with a perfect counter right to the jaw that put Sutton down again and the fight was stopped at 2:20.

Kieron Conway stopped Gerome Warburton in round four of their 10-round middleweight bout.

In round four, Conway hurt Warburton with a a right to the body. A follow up flurry forced the corner of Warburton to throw in the towel at 1:26.

Lelli Buttigieg stopped Novak Radulovic in round three of their six-round middleweight bout.

In round two, Buttgiieg landd a big uppercut that hurt Radullovic. Buttigieg follows up with a flurry that sent Radulovic to the canvas. Radulovic came out for round three but the fight was stopped at 45 seconds.

Shannon Ryan won an eight-round decision over Fara El Bousari in a super flyweight bout.

Fabio Wardley stopped Michael Coffie in round four of a scheduled 10-round heavyweight bout.

In round one, Wardley was bleeding from his nose. In round four, Wardley landed a hard right that backed Coffie up on the ropes. Wardley landed a big assault in the ropes and the referee stopped the bout (maybe a punch or two prematurely) at 45 seconds.

Hrgovic dropped Radojic four-times in round two and once again in round three, and the bout was stopped.

Dalton Smith remained undefeated with 10-round unanimous decision over Brian Pelaez in a junior welterweight bout.

Abass Baraou stopped Jay Harris in the opening round of their eight-round super welterweight fight.

Baraou landed two hard rights that froze Harris and the fight was stopped at 2:43.

Former belt holder, John Ryder stopped Jozef Jurrko in a scheduled eight-round light heavyweight bout

In round four, Jurko began to bleed from his nose. In round five, Ryder continued to pound away at an overmatched Jurko and the fight was stopped at 1:29.

Ryder of England is now 30-5 with 17 knockouts. Jurko of Slovenia is 7-3.

John Hedges remained undefeated with a six-round decision over Frane Radnic.

Hedges won by a 60-54 score and is 3-0.

John Hedges says he can’t wait to showcase the improvements he has made under new trainer Mark Tibbs when he takes on Stanko Jermelicin a four round Light-Heavyweight contest this Saturday April 10, shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and on DAZN in the U.S. and more than 200 countries and territories.

‘The Gentleman’ overcame a tricky introduction to life in the paid ranks with a hard-fought 39-37 points win over the tough and game Manchester-based Czech Jan Ardon at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes last October on the Buatsi vs. Calic undercard. 

Despite making his pro debut at the tender age of 18, the S-JAM Boxing prospect came under criticism from some quarters, but Hedges hasn’t let his critics get to him and is fully focused on starting 2021 in impressive fashion in the Capital.

“It was just one of those things,” said Hedges. “I had to get it done. I rushed it a little bit. I was only a pro for about two or three months heading into my first fight. Looking back at it, I’m glad I took that risk. I boxed a good opponent and I got the win, and now we move forward into a bright 2021. 

“It was a last-minute opponent that we took on short notice. It wasn’t what we’d prepared for, but we took it. I’m just happy that I got my first fight under my belt. The circumstances weren’t the best but I got the job done. It was my first fight out of a headguard and my first fight against a senior. It was all new to me so it was good to get it out of the way.”

The 6’ 5” Takeley native made the switch from the Hoddesdon Boxing Academy, where he enjoyed a long and successful stint in the amateurs, to the Origin Gym in Rainham earlier this year where he now trains alongside the likes of WBO Super-Middleweight ruler Billy Joe Saunders and Southampton Light-Heavyweight contender Lewie Edmondson. 

Tibbs won’t be in Hedges’ corner this weekend as he is busy preparing Saunders for his huge unification clash with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Texas next month, but Hedges says the well-respected coach has already had a big influence on him in the short time they have been working together. 

“It was a big move in my career. I needed a freshen up and I’ve got that. I was advised to make this move and I’ve listened to that advice. Since I’ve been down here, I feel like I’ve come on loads already. I’m enjoying my training and I feel blessed to have so many good fighters around me. We’re all on the same mission to make it to the top. 

“We’ve had some cracking rounds with Lewie Edmondson. We both work hard and we’re bringing each other on. You can’t knock it, it’s unbelievable. They’ve welcomed me with open arms. They chucked me in at the deep end. That’s the type of sparring you need to develop as a fighter.

“Eddie told me to stay ready and stay in shape. I’m feeling really strong. I’m hitting hard and training well. I’m in a really good place at the moment. It’s still early days with Mark but you can feel the improvements in yourself. I’m improving in every session and I’m coming out of the gym knackered. It’s just little improvements here and there. 

“I can hold my own with whatever weight I’m put in with. Mark will tell you, anyone that I get put in there with in sparring I hold my own with. He’s not concerned about that. Takeley Super-Middleweight giant John Hedges isn’t short on confidence ahead of his keenly anticipated professional debut on the undercard of Joshua Buatsi vs. Marko Calic on Sunday October 4, shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US. 

The elusive 6’ 5” southpaw, recently signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, meets Jan Ardon over four rounds on his introduction to the paid ranks following a glittering spell in the amateurs in which he won four National Titles and seven International Titles, amassing an impressive 40 wins from 44 fights. 

Known as ‘Gentleman John’, the gifted 18-year-old prospect fights out of the Hoddesdon Boxing Academy in Hertfordshire under the guidance of his trainer Sab Leo, and now finds himself part of a Matchroom stable that boasts two undefeated 168lbs World Champions in Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders.

Essex native Hedges, also guided by Sam Jones of S-JAM Boxing, believes his flashy style is well-suited to the pro game and will help establish him as a fan favourite as he looks to become the latest traveller to make a name for themselves in the squared circle. 

“It’s a big ‘un isn’t it!” said Hedges. “My first fight live on Sky Sports on a massive undercard, what more could you ask for? This is where I want to be, and I’ll start as I mean to go on. This is a big show and I hope it brings big things for me. 

“I’m buzzing with everything at the moment. Seeing all of the publicity around my signing and my debut is amazing. I’ve got a great following and I’m loving every minute of it. I’ve been in the gym every day training hard so roll on October 4, we’re ready to go.

“Naturally you feel a bit of pressure. Being this young it’s all new to me. Any young fighter will say it’s natural pressure from being put on the big stage live on Sky Sports. I’m getting put in at the deep end and I think I’ll shine brighter because of it.

“Some people crumble under pressure but I believe this is the best way I could have gone about things, going straight in at the deep end and into the limelight. I want to be the best prospect in Britain. That’s my main aim for now.

“I honestly believe that I will become a World Champion one day. I will get to that level. I’m not in a rush. I’ve got to prove myself, and October 4 is the first step of my mission. I’m going to take things step-by-step. When the opportunities present themselves, I’m going to take them as quickly as I can.”

Hedges vs. Ardon is part of a big night of action topped by Croydon’s rising Light-Heavyweight star Joshua Buatsi (12-0, 10 KOs) defending his WBA International Title against undefeated Croat Marko Calic (11-0, 6 KOs), Chantelle Cameron (12-0, 7 KOs) land a World Title shot in her very first bout as a Matchroom fighter as she takes on Brazil’s Adriana Dos Santos Araujo (6-0, 1 KO) for the vacant WBC Super-Lightweight crown, ‘The Savage’ Alen Babic (4-0, 4 KOs) returns to the UK looking to impress again as he locks horns with Irishman Niall Kennedy (13-1-1, 8 KOs) in an eight round Heavyweight contest, Luton’s Linus Udofia (15-0, 7 KOs) puts his English Middleweight Title on the line for the first time against Dillian Whyte-backed Brixton man John Harding Jr (8-1-1, 2 KOs) and Aqib Fiaz (5-0) and Kane Baker (13-6) look to settle the score after their Fight Camp disappointment.
