San Juan, Puerto Rico [Sept. 9, 2025] – Salita Promotions will bring its acclaimed Big Time Boxing series to Puerto Rico for the third time in 12 months on Thursday, October 23, with a stacked fight card at the Coliseito Pedrín Zorrilla in San Juan, airing live on DAZN. The event, co-promoted with Universal Promotions, will be headlined by an explosive NABO title showdown between one of the super lightweight division’s brightest young prospects, Joshua James “Double J” Pagan (13-0, 4 KOs), and power-punching Maliek Montgomery (20-1, 18 KOs).

The 10-round main event presents a career-defining opportunity for both fighters. The NABO title, recently vacated by Abdullah Mason, is on the line — and with it, a clear pathway for the rising prospects to advance closer to world-title contention. Pagan, undefeated and just 24 years old, has already faced four unbeaten opponents in his young career. On October 23, he takes on his toughest challenge yet in Montgomery, a dangerous puncher with 18 knockouts in 20 victories.

The co-feature will showcase undefeated featherweight Ashleyann Lozada (2-0, 1 KO) in her first professional fight on her home island. Lozada made history as Puerto Rico’s first female Olympic boxer when she competed at the Paris Games in 2024. She turned pro in February with a unanimous decision victory in Flint, then returned in June during International Boxing Hall of Fame weekend in Verona, NY, where she impressed a knowledgeable crowd with her blend of speed and power, stopping Carmen Vargas inside the opening two minutes. Lozada, widely regarded as one of the top female prospects in the sport, will make her highly anticipated San Juan debut against an opponent to be announced.

The undercard card will highlight three more of Puerto Rico’s brightest boxing stars: undefeated featherweight Felix Parrilla (11-0, 9 KOs), considered one of the island’s top prospects, rising star junior lightweight William “Yeyo” Colón (7-0, 4KOs), and Kiria Tapia (7-0, 1 KO), another leading figure in Puerto Rican women’s boxing. Their inclusion underscores the commitment of Salita Promotions to advancing women’s boxing and spotlighting the next generation of talent.

Another highly anticipated undercard clash will feature Carlos Arrieta (16-1, 9 KOs) against Alfredo “El Salsero” Cruz (9-3-1, 5 KOs), a matchup already generating strong anticipation among local fans.

The event is headlined by USBA American heavyweight titlist Brandon Moore (17-1, 10 KOs), who will square off against the undefeated Stanley Wright (14-0, 11 KOs). Moore is entering the fight after a victory over previously undefeated Skylar Lacy, while Wright is coming off a major upset victory over previously undefeated heavyweight standout Jeremiah Milton. This clash pits two of the best rising American heavyweights, both eager to carve their names into boxing history.

Moore, a standout from Florida and the 2019 Golden Gloves Champion, showcased his dominance in his last bout, which ended in a disqualification win. Meanwhile, Charlotte’s Wright, fresh off his stunning upset, is poised to seize the moment and challenge Moore’s momentum in this important American heavyweight showdown.

The DAZN televised card will also feature world-rated contenders and boxing’s hottest prospects, including U.S. Olympic Team Captain Joseph Hicks Jr. (12-0, 8 KOs). Hicks is fresh off a TKO victory over previously undefeated, highly touted Keon Papillion, looking to continue his ascent. 

In addition, national amateur champion Joshua James Pagan (12-0, 4 KOs) will face off against Lancaster, Pa.’s James Bernadin (13-2-1, 6 KOs). Pagan is one of Salita’s brightest prospects and is entering his fourth fight in just over a year. He continues to impress as he dispatches increasingly tough opposition. To date, Pagan has faced and beaten four undefeated fighters in and around the lightweight division. A WBA’s regional lightweight champion, Bernadin enters this co-feature bout on the strength of three straight victories. The 32-year-old Haitian native will make his first outing in 2025 against one of the fastest rising prospects in the sport.

Also on the DAZN card is recently signed Salita Promotions champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (9-2, 2 KOs), the reigning WBC and WBA Unified Super Middleweight World Champion, who will defend her titles against Mexico’s 2024 Olympian Citlalli Ortiz (4-1, 1 KO).  The undercard will feature Puerto Rico’s first women’s Olympic boxer Ashleyann Lozada (1-0), highly touted Brooklyn, N.Y. heavyweight Pryce Taylor (7-0, 5 KOs), and Salita Promotions’ middleweight prospect Da’Velle Smith (11-0, 8 KOs) who has been routinely compared to Hall of Famer Tommy “The Hitman” Hearns for his poise, quiet confidence and significant punching power.

Induction Weekend takes place Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8, when the International Boxing Hall of Fame will enshrine several all-time greats, including eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, Vinny Paz, Michael Nunn, Yessica Chavez, and Mary Jo Sanders, among others. Claressa Shields won the Undisputed Heavyweight title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Danielle Perkins at The Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan.

Shields dominated the fight and in round three rocked Perkins badly with a overhand right.

Shields continued to win every round and in the last 10 seconds of the fight landed a perfect counter right to the jaw that made Perkins glove hit the canvas.

Shields, 173.6 lbs of Flint, MI won by scores of 100-89, 99-90 and 97-92 and is now 16-0. Perkins, 177.2 lbs of Brooklyn, NY is 5-1.

Shields: “I felt strong in there. Danielle Perkins is very strong. She was definitely a problem. My skills and experience got me over it. In the last round when I scored the knockout, she got greedy. I have power. Danielle was just big and strong.”

“I was so happy to perform at home. I couldn’t believe it when I walked out and saw the amount of people who came out to support me. I was so excited. Between my walkout and everything, it was too much. I had to calm myself down and focus on the fight and on Danielle. It was an amazing homecoming.”

“Whenever I hit Danielle, especially in the third round when I stunned her and in the 10th round when I dropped her, it was like fireworks going off all over the ring. Fighting in Flint shows me that the best fans in the world are here. They make a lot of noise, and there is never a quiet round.

In a horrible display in a heavyweight bout, Brandon Moore defeated Skylar Lace via eighth round disqualication.

Both guys were deducted points in round four for holding. Lacy continued to hold for the rest of the fight. In round eight he was deducted another point for holding. Seconds later, Lacy held and pushed Moore and they both when splattering out through the middle ropes and on to a broadcast table that broke. Referee Steve Willis started a 20-count but finally stopped the count and awarded the bout to Moore at 51 seconds.

Moore, 249.4 lbs of Lakeland, FL is now 17-1. Lacy, 260.4 lbs of Indianapolis, IN is 8-1-2.

Moore: “This was all crazy because the camera man fell off the ring first and then he (Lacy) threw me out of the ring. That has never happened to me. He was holding me down, but I was able to push him off of me and jump back into the ring. I knew he wasn’t going to be able to go any more rounds against me.”

“It means everything to become champ. I know other fighters will watch this and think it was ugly, but it was because my opponent made it that way.”

Joseph Hicks remained undefeated with an seventh round stoppage over Keon Pappillon in a battle of undefeated junior middleweights.

In round one, Pappillion suffered swelling around left eye from an accidental headbutt.

In round seven, Hicks landed a chopping right that hurt Pappillon. Hicks jumped on Papillion and landed a hard flurry of punches and referee Ansel Stewart ackowleged the corner and stopped the bout at 1:35.

Hicks, 152.6 lbs of Grand Rapids, MI is 12-0 with eight knockouts. Paillion, 152.2 lbs of Lafyette, LA is 10-1-1.

Hicks: “I felt like I had the fight secured after the third round when he (Papillion) took a deep breath. It’s a dream come true to be able to fight in my home state. When you first start boxing, you dream of the crowd cheering you on while you perform doing what you love.”

Joshua James Pagan remained undefeated with a eight-round unanimous decision over Ronal Ron Ramirez in a lightweight bout.

In round one, Pagan was cut over his left eye

Pagan, 135 lbs of Grand Rapids, MI won by scores of 79-73 and 78-74 twice and is now 12-0. Ramirez, 133.8 lbs of Caracas, VEN is 16-8.

Pagan: “It’s an honor to perform on a historic card like this. This is probably the biggest event in Flint in years, especially with Claressa Shields’ movie (“The Fire Inside”). Fights are only going to get tougher from here. You are only as good as your last fight.”

Caroline Veyre won an eight-round unanimous decision over Carmen Vargas in a featherweight bout

In round two, Vargas began to bleed from her right eye.

Veyre, 123.1 lbs of Montreal won by scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 9-1. Vargas, 124 lbs of Houston is 5-3-1.

Ashleyann Lozada made a successful pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Denise Moran in a super bantamweight bout.

Lozada landed 59 of 145 punches. Moran was 22-109.

Lozada, 122.6 lbs of Corozal, PR won by scores of 40-36 on all cards and is 1-0. Moran, 122.8 lbs of Cathedral City, CA is 3-1.
