Flint Phenom Garett “Baby Gee” Rice Signs with Salita Promotions Set to Make Professional Debut December 20 at Detroit’s Historic Fox Theatre

DETROIT (December 8, 2025 ) — Salita Promotions today announced the signing of Flint, Mich., standout boxer Garett “Baby Gee” Rice, a decorated amateur talent fighting out of the legendary Berston Field House, the same Flint boxing institution that helped launch the rise of two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed world champion Claressa Shields. Rice will make his professional debut on Saturday, December 20 at the historic Fox Theatre in Detroit, on a card headlined by the WBC and WBA Unified Middleweight World Championship rematch between Olivia Curry (7-2-2, 2 KOs) and Kaye Scott (4-1-1) and featuring Detroit’s own Tony “Super Bad” Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs) in the co-main event.

The BIG TIME BOXING USA event, sponsored by M Select Luxury Water, Generations, and BETOnline, takes place Saturday, December 20 at Detroit’s historic Fox Theatre, and will stream live on the global leader of boxing, DAZN. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the first fight scheduled for 6 p.m., leading into the DAZN telecast beginning at 9 p.m. The card is presented by Salita Promotions, with tickets available now at 313Presents.com and Ticketmaster.com.

Rice, 22, enters the professional ranks following an exceptional amateur career that included more than 170 bouts and championship wins across the country. A slick featherweight known for his speed and technical skill, Rice compiled multiple Silver Gloves titles (2015, 2016), a Junior Olympic championship, Michigan Golden Gloves state championships (2017, 2018), and the 2024 Ohio State Golden Gloves title. His résumé also features victories at the USA Eastern and Western Qualifier Championships (2017), and numerous Most Outstanding Fighter awards, and a run as the No. 1 amateur in the nation for multiple years. Rice most recently qualified for and competed in the 2023 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Trained under veteran coach Ed Kendall, Rice has long been a fixture at Berston Field House, where he trained alongside Shields throughout his amateur career. The Flint native carries his hometown’s–and home gym’s–fighting spirit into his professional debut.

“Turning pro feels like the start of a new chapter,” Rice said. “I learned a lot from the amateurs how to stay patient, how to place my shots, how to think in the ring. Now it’s about sharpening that and building real momentum. I want to be 7-0 by the end of 2026.”

Rice’s placement on the December 20 card marks a meaningful introduction to fans. Scheduled as the third bout of the night, Rice will hit the ring early, giving fans a reason to be in their seats when the action starts.

“It feels good to be fighting under Tony,” Rice added, referencing Detroit’s beloved former world champion Tony Harrison. “I’m excited. It’s motivational. And at the end of the day, I’m a dad 24/7. Everything I’m doing is for my kid.”

Salita Promotions identified Rice during the 2024 Olympic Trials and finalized his signing this fall in partnership with Wynn Records, marking a joint commitment to developing elite talent and expanding the sports next generation of boxing stars.

“Garrett is one of the best young amateur standouts in the country, ” said President of Salita Promotions Dmitiry Salita. “Coming out of Flint’s legendary Berston Field House, the same Michigan boxing lineage that produced world champions and icons, has the talent, the charisma, and the Detroit-Flint spirit that fans connect with. We believe he can become one of the breakout faces of the new era. We’re excited to guide his professional journey and even more excited to partner with Wynn Records to take Baby Gee’s story and popularity beyond the ring.”

Garett ‘Baby?Gee’ Rice represents everything Wynn Records stands for, authenticity, discipline, and greatness in motion,” said Papoose, Executive at Wynn Records. “From the moment we saw him fight, we knew he had that rare mix of skill, hunger, and star quality that can’t be taught. Partnering with Salita Promotions to help launch his professional career is more than a business move, it’s a cultural investment in the next generation of champions coming out of Flint. Baby?Gee’s story, his work ethic, and his energy align perfectly with our vision to bridge music, sports, and culture on a world stage.”

World-class boxing returns to Detroit as the historic Fox Theatre hosts one of the year’s most anticipated rematches. Olivia Curry (7-2-2, 2 KOs) and Kaye Scott (4-1-1) will settle unfinished business in a ten-round showdown for the WBC and WBA Unified Middleweight World Championship on Saturday, December 20. The stacked card, promoted by Salita Promotions, also features Detroit’s own Tony “Super Bad” Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs) continuing his climb back to title contention in a ten-round middleweight clash against Argentina’s Brian Damian Chaves (15-7, 6 KOs), along with undefeated heavyweight Pryce Taylor (9-0, 6 KOs) taking on Michael Coffie (13-5, 10 KOs) in an eight-round matchup.

Curry and Scott Set for an Epic Clash for the WBA Middleweight World Title

On September 19, the historic Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan, will host a pivotal night for women’s boxing as American contender Olivia Curry (7-2-1, 2 KOs) squares off against Australia’s Kaye Scott (4-1) for the WBA middleweight world championship.

Curry, 35, comes in hungry for glory after carving out a career built on resilience. With a deep amateur background and a rapid rise through the professional ranks, she’s forged a style based on relentless pressure, grit, and a hardened mindset polished fight after fight. Fighting in her hometown, with the Detroit crowd behind her, could give her the emotional lift she needs to capture her first world title.

Scott, 41, brings experience in spades—particularly from the amateur scene. The Sydney native is a decorated international campaigner, with medals from the Commonwealth Games and continental championships. Despite coming off a surprising setback against Desley Robinson, she returns with the aim of reclaiming her place among the elite and proving that her skillset still belongs at the championship level.

This promises to be a compelling contrast of styles: Curry’s aggression and volume against Scott’s precision and ring IQ. Beyond the belt, the fight carries high stakes in terms of international recognition and the chance to unlock new doors in a division that has gained more visibility in recent years.

It’s a matchup with storylines that resonate: Curry, the hometown symbol of perseverance, versus Scott, the seasoned technician and ambassador of experience.

BRANDON MOORE & DEANDRE SAVAGE TRADE WORDS AT FOX THEATRE PRESS CONFERENCE AHEAD OF SEPT. 19 CLASH

DETROIT (September 17, 2025) – The stage is set for Salita Promotions’ fight week in the Motor City as the spotlight burned bright at the historic Fox Theatre today. USBA Heavyweight Champion Brandon ‘OJ Bam’ Moore (18-1, 10 KOs) and Flint’s undefeated knockout artist DeAndre Savage (10-0, 10 KOs) ignited the press conference drama ahead of Salita Promotions Big Time Boxing USA’s Sept. 19 return, streaming live worldwide on DAZN, the global home of boxing. They were joined by Kronk legend SugarHill Steward, middleweight title contenders Olivia Curry (7-2, 2 KOs) and Australia’s Kaye Scott (4-1), rising super middleweight Da’Velle Smith (13-0, 8 KOs)and promoter Dmitriy Salita.

The event is promoted by Salita Promotions with special thanks to sponsors OnlyFans, M Life Luxury Water, Fight For Mental Health, Generations, and Lush Lawn. Comerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre. Tickets can be purchased online via 313presents.com and ticketmaster.com.

SugarHill opened the event by honoring Detroit’s storied boxing tradition, reflecting on his roots in the Kronk Gym and lessons passed down from his uncle, Emanuel Steward:

“When you got in the ring with a Kronk fighter or someone from Detroit, you knew it was going to be a tough fight,” said Steward. “Everyone knew the Detroit name carried weight.” After an injury cut short his own time in the ring, he carried forward his uncle Emanuel Steward’s legacy as a trainer, grounded in one simple lesson: “Teach them the basics. The proper jab, the proper right hand, and most important, balance. I’ve carried that into every fighter I’ve trained since.”

Tying the moment to Detroit’s resurgence, SugarHill pointed to the city’s recent momentum: “We just had a great show at Little Caesars Arena, and it reminded me of the old days, how excited the city was for boxing. And now here we are at the Fox Theatre, a place that has history of its own. To be back here means everything. We’ve got the heavyweights here — knockout artists. I expect some big knockouts and great fights. Welcome to Detroit. Welcome to big-time boxing. This is where it happens.”

Tensions escalated when Moore and Savage went face-to-face on stage, exchanging verbal jabs vowing to deliver a dominant performance:

“It’s a blessing to be here at the Fox Theatre,” said Moore. “I’m going to bless you guys with a great performance. I’m extremely excited to share the ring with De’Andre Savage. You’re looking at one of the greatest American heavyweights of the sport right now, Brandon Moore! I know you’ve seen my last few fights and what I’ve done to these guys. This is going to be a very easy, tactical fight. Savage says it only takes one punch, but he’s going to have to find it. This will be a classic night of boxing at Fox Theatre. Polk County, Florida in the building. I want to thank Savage for sharing the ring, and hopefully we can be friends afterwards. I’m like Thanos, coming in and collecting these infinity stones. I hope he’s ready for Friday night, he wants my belt, but the only belt he’s going to get is this belt to his a**.”

The undefeated knockout Heavyweight artist, De’Andre Savage countered with fire of his own, promising fireworks:

“God is the greatest, and it’s an honor to be here fighting at the Fox Theatre, ” said Savage. “Coming from Flint, I represent the struggle. On September 19, y’all are about to see fireworks. I’m predicting I will knock Brandon Moore out by the sixth round. This is the biggest fight of my career, and I’m ready to make a statement in the heavyweight division. I want to thank everyone for coming out, this is Flint Town, y’all!”

Promoter Dmitriy Salita underscored the significance of the Fox Theatre event, framing it as part of Detroit’s boxing resurgence:

“Fans here at the Fox Theatre and those watching on DAZN are going to get an incredible, historic experience — not only in the ring, but in the atmosphere of this world-class card,” said Salita. “In the main event, USBA Heavyweight Champion Brandon Moore is putting it all on the line against Flint’s undefeated knockout artist DeAndre Savage, who’s looking to keep his streak alive. The co-main event is a Unified Middleweight World Championship fight that will bring even more prestige to the division, and we have top prospects like Detroit’s own Da’Velle Smith and Sardius Simmons making their mark on the national stage.

“This fight card could easily be in Las Vegas or New York City, but we are committed to rebuilding Detroit’s legacy as one of boxing’s historic hometowns. On September 19th, fans will experience a truly unique event — world-class boxing inside the ring, set in one of the nation’s most historic premier venues. It will be an unforgettable night, both for those in attendance and those watching live on DAZN.”

313 Presents President Howard Handler, who oversees the Fox Theatre, spoke to the venue’s pride in hosting such a historic night:

“Detroit’s crowned jewel, the Fox Theatre, has long been a stage for unforgettable performances, and it welcomes a new chapter with Big Time Boxing,” said Handler. “We are proud to partner once again with Salita Promotions, whose commitment to restoring Detroit’s boxing legacy has brought us a night of world-class competition. From a sold-out Little Caesars Arena this past July to this Friday’s showcase, our shared vision is helping reignite the passion for boxing across Southeast Michigan. Detroit is a sports city. It’s a fight city, and on Friday, the Fox Theatre becomes the epicenter of that energy.”

Chicago’s Olivia Curry expressed her excitement and determination heading into the Unified WBA/WBC Middleweight World Championship co-feature:

“I’m so excited to be here, and I’m grateful to Salita Promotions for having us on this card, ” said Curry. “I feel like I’m finally getting the shot I’ve been working toward for a long time. As you can tell, my favorite colors are green and gold — and that belt sitting right there feels like it’s meant to be mine. That’s exactly what I’m going to do, take it home. Kaye said we’re going to war, and she’s right. We’re going to war. Don’t miss it.”

Australia’s Kaye Scott, who faces Curry for the Unified Middleweight World Championship, spoke with excitement about fighting on such a historic stage:

“I’m so excited to be here in Detroit,” said Scott. “I’ve been in the city for nearly a week now, and I’m just amazed by this venue. The history and culture inside the Fox Theatre gave me goosebumps the moment I walked in. It’s made me even more pumped for Friday night. I’m prepared, I’m ready to go to war in there, and I know I can match what Olivia brings and more. I’m bringing those belts back home to Australia.”

Detroit’s own super middleweight prospect Da’Velle Smith shared his excitement for the hometown spotlight:

“I’m very excited and honored to be here, fighting in a beautiful venue like this in front of all my friends, family, and the Detroit fight fans,” said Smith. “I’m blessed to have a great promoter and a great team making this all happen. Don’t go to the bathroom, get your popcorn, and be ready when I step in the ring, it’s going to be an electric, beautiful night, and I can’t wait to put on a show for everybody.”

Super Middleweight contender Da’velle Smith (13-0, 8KO’s) of Troy, returns to his hometown following a unanimous decision victory over Martez McGregor on the undercard of Claressa Shields’ July event at Little Caesars Arena. A rangy fighter with a stiff jab and explosive combinations, Smith has stopped more than half of his opponents and continues to sharpen under the tutelage of world renowned trainer Sugar Hill. At just 25, Smith already displays the poise of a seasoned contender while climbing the rankings.

“After my fight in July, I’m excited to be back in the ring fighting in my hometown, especially at the Fox Theatre,” said Smith. “It’s an honor to be a part of the rich boxing history in Detroit. I feel like I’m carrying the torch well for my city. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do in camp. I’m locked in and I’m going to show everyone I’m getting better with each fight.”

Heavyweight prospect Sardius Simmons (3-0, 2 KOs) of Flint is quickly becoming one of the most active big men in the region since signing with Salita Promotions earlier this year. Fighting out of the legendary Berston Fieldhouse, home to several of Michigan’s most decorated fighters and world champions, Simmons is fresh off a second-round knockout of Randolph Shaw this past weekend, further building his reputation as a powerful hometown puncher. Simmons is set to face Lemir Isom-Riley (5-6, 2KO’s) in what promises to be a high-action bout.

“It feels good fighting home,” said Simmons. “There’s nothing like having my family in the stands support me. It’s time to bring the American heavyweight division back. On September 19th, fans will leave entertained and become new fans of mine.”

“It feels amazing to be fighting at home in Detroit again. It’s an honor to fight at the Fox Theater. I want people to talk about my fights and how exciting they are. I’m coming to dominate. I’m the future of boxing.”

Light Heavyweight prospect Kahmel Makled (3-0, 3 KOs) fighting out of Macomb, Mich., returns after a sensational knockout performance in July on Claressa Shields’ undercard at Little Caesars Arena. A two-time Detroit Golden Gloves champion, Makled has ended each of his three pro fights inside the distance. He combines patience with explosive finishing power. He now looks to extend his streak with another emphatic performance against Christian Juresic (2-1) on Sept. 19th.

“It’s an honor to be fighting in Detroit again,” said Makled. “My last fight was at LCA on the Claressa card July 26 and I got a crazy highlight KO-1 that’s at over 1 million views on social media. I always want people to get their money’s worth when they see me fight. On Sept. 19, I’m going to give another exciting performance. I’m going out for another highlight reel. Without the support I receive from family, friends and fans who come out to see me, none of this would be possible.”

A finalist at the 2023 U.S. National Olympic Team Trials, Hampton is one of the most popular fighters in a region of the country that’s known for producing great boxers. Salita Promotions Announces USBA Heavyweight Titlist Brandon ‘OJ Bam’ Moore To Face Michigan’s Knockout Artist DeAndre Savage in Explosive Doubleheader

DETROIT (August 18, 2025) – A U.S. heavyweight showdown is brewing for Friday, Sept. 19 as Salita Promotions returns to Detroit with an exciting doubleheader headlined by USBA Heavyweight Champion Brandon “OJ Bam” Moore (18-1, 10 KOs) taking on his toughest test to date in undefeated knockout artist DeAndre Savage (10-0, 10 KOs) of nearby Flint, Mich. Adding to the action, Chicago’s Olivia Curry (7-2, 2 KOs) will collide with Australia’s Kaye Scott (4-1) for the Unified WBA/WBC Middleweight World Championship in the co-feature of a BIG TIME BOXING USA event at the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit. The event, sponsored by M Select Luxury Water will stream live on the global leader of boxing, DAZNComerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre.

Salita Promotions has committed to restoring Detroit’s–and Southeast Michigan’s–big time boxing legacy and has built significant momentum in 2025. Following July’s sold-out event at Little Caesars Arena, featuring The G.W.O.A.T. Claressa Shields, and February’s sold-out event at the Dort Financial Center in nearby Flint, the burgeoning promotional company now brings a world-class boxing event to the legendary Detroit theatre for the first time in 25 years*.

Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions, sees the event as another mark for the company and a defining night for both divisions, “The Michigan sports fans have spoken and they are hungry for world class boxing. Our commitment to delivering thrilling events to both the global subscribers on DAZN and to the people of Southeast Michigan has never been stronger. This card will be stacked with regional talent, competitive matchups throughout and headlined by two explosive bouts. The heavyweight division is thriving, and Moore vs. Savage will reshape the future of the division. Brandon Moore enters with back-to-back wins over undefeated opponents, while DeAndre Savage has stopped everyone he’s faced. Add in a world championship fight between Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott, and you have a night of boxing that will deliver on every level. Fight fans are in for something special.”

“We’re proud to partner with Salita Promotions and bring big-time boxing to the iconic Fox Theatre,” said Howard Handler, President of 313 Presents. “This legendary venue has been home to some of Detroit’s most unforgettable performances, and now it will showcase the grit, drama, and excitement of championship boxing. The atmosphere of Shields vs. Daniels at a sold-out Little Caesars Arena was electric and we’re building on that momentum to spotlight the resurgence of boxing in Detroit at another of our world-class venues.”

Moore, the 6’6” champion from Lakeland, Fla., is coming off a decisive unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Stanley Wright, a bout that featured a third-round knockdown and showcased his ability to control range, dictate pace, and deliver fight-altering power shots. Moore, alongside trainer Charles Whittaker, looks to extend his streak with a third consecutive win against his most dangerous challenge to date.

“I want to thank Salita Promotions, DAZN and the team at 313 Presents for giving me the opportunity to showcase my skills again in this region and to the world,” said Moore. “DeAndre Savage really doesn’t have a chance. I’m coming in to show that I’m the better fighter. My jab, my footwork and my power make me the far superior fighter. There’s a high chance I’ll get him out before 10 rounds. You might as well start calling me the “Savage Killer.” I love fighting in this area and I’m hyped to be back, but make no mistake, I’m walking out with my hand raised and an even bigger fanbase than I came in with.”

Savage, Flint’s heavy-hitting prospect, is known for his relentless pressure and concussive power. He steps into his first professional title fight with a perfect record and a 100 percent knockout ratio. The 280-pound powerhouse is coming off a dominant second-round TKO over Eduardo Santana in January, an emphatic victory that further cemented his reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous punchers. Now, he steps into his most significant test to date against Moore.

“I know Brandon from the Olympic trials, and I respect what he’s done, but I’ve been in camps with top 10 and top 15 heavyweights–Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker and others–so I know my skills and I’m confident in myself,” said Savage. “I haven’t fought anyone in the pros with his caliber yet, but that changes on September 19. I’m coming in at about 280 pounds — that’s real horsepower — and I plan on using every bit of it to get the job done.”

Curry, a proven contender known for her high-volume pressure will look to capture her first unified crown when she faces Australia’s Kaye Scott for the vacant titles. Curry, known for her relentless pace and durability, moved up to super middleweight for a competitive 10-round bout against top contender Shadasia Green before returning to her natural weight at 160 pounds. Now, with her aggressive style and guidance from longtime trainer Trinidad Garcia, she looks to make a statement on fight night and cement her place among the elite.

“This is an exciting time in women’s boxing right now, and I’m happy I can be part of this chapter fighting on a big stage like this. I plan to showcase my talent and create excitement in the middleweight division starting with this event,” said Curry. “I feel much more comfortable at this weight and my power really shines. I plan to take her in deep waters and drown her.”

Scott made her professional debut in 2023 with a victory over Connie Chan to win the vacant Australasian female middleweight title. She has progressed quickly through the professional ranks in just five fights. She followed up with a majority decision over Desley Robinson for the Australian middleweight title, before facing Robinson again in December 2024 for the vacant IBF middleweight title. While she came up short, the bout set the stage for her second world title opportunity on September 19.

“I’m so thankful to be making my U.S. debut next month. In my town, it was illegal for women to box amateur or as a pro, so I had to go to another town to fight and build up my career, but I’m ready!” said Scott. “I’m going to make my country proud and showcase my skills. I have an extensive amateur background and fought with championship level fighters. I’m determined and I’m feeling confident going into this fight.”

An exciting undercard featuring a mix of rising prospects, local favorites, and action-packed matchups will be announced in the coming weeks.
