Former unified world champion Yesica Nery Plata has ruled the light flyweight division as WBA and WBC unified world champion. Since turning pro in ?2011, she steadily climbed the ranks, winning the WBC Youth title in 2012 and defending it multiple times before stepping into world-level clashes. In March ?2022, Plata began her title run, dethroning longtime champion Yésica Bopp via split decision to claim the WBA title at 108lbs, ending Bopp’s 13-year reign with strong body work and well?timed left hooks. Her defining moment within the division came in January?2023 in Canada, where she successfully unified the WBA and WBC belts by defeating home favorite Kim Clavel in a fierce ten?round war—dictating the pace to earn a unanimous decision in what many hailed as one of the standout women’s fights of the year. She capped off her dominance with a successful split?decision title defense against undefeated Sarah Bormann in Karlsruhe, Germany in ?December?2023. Following a layoff, Plata return to the ring under the Most Valuable Promotions banner recognized as one of the top pound-for-pound women’s boxers in the world and is currently ranked #4 by the WBC, #6 by the WBO and WBA, and #3 by ESPN at 108lbs.

“I want to thank my fans for their support and for following my career, and most importantly, to my promoter MVP, to Jake Paul, Nakisa Bidarian, and everyone that works for the company for making all of this possible,” said Yesica Nery Plata. “You all know that team Plata is a guarantee for a good show, see you soon!”

Brook Sibrian, from Coachella, California earned the nickname “Mighty” during a national tournament. After becoming a first-generation college graduate and building a career at the Wall Street Journal, Brook discovered the sport through a fitness boxing class at 26 and fell for it immediately. What began as a hobby became a calling, giving her structure, discipline, purpose, and a deeper relationship with God. She compiled a 22-3 amateur record, won two USA Boxing National Championships, and represented El Salvador at the 2023 Central American Games. Early in her career, she trained alongside her idol Román “Chocolatito” González across multiple camps, which accelerated her development and shaped her foundation as an intelligent, high-output pressure fighter and boxer-puncher.

“God is so good! I’m feeling extremely grateful and excited to show the world who this small, but Mighty underdog is,” said Brook Sabrian. “Tune in on Saturday, May 30 on ESPN+ and don’t miss the show! Thank you MVP and my incredible team for making this possible!”

Reina Tellez, a Team USA veteran who took up boxing in 2012, quickly established herself among the elites of the amateur scene. Her accolades include winning gold at the 2015 and 2017 National Junior Olympics, winning the 2018 National Golden Gloves championship, and back-to-back silver medals at the 2018 and 2019 National Junior Olympics. After making her pro debut in 2021–the lone technical draw on her record–she returned to boxing in 2023 and began her rise, winning her next three bouts by TKO. In June 2024, Tellez defeated Hungarian prospect Beata Dudek on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin in Las Vegas. Just three weeks later in July 2024, Tellez successfully outpointed Wendellin Cruz to win the vacant WBC Youth featherweight title by unanimous decision, before dropping down to win the NABF super bantamweight and bantamweight titles later that year. The 22-year-old Tellez, of Irish-Mexican heritage, most recently faced Amanda Serrano for the unified WBA and WBO world titles in January 2026, with Serrano winning by decision. She resides in San Antonio, Texas and is represented by Boxlab Promotions.

Born in El Paso and raised in Northside Houston, Texas by a hard-working Mexican-American family, 24-year-old Miranda Reyes has built her professional career facing some of the sport’s most respected names, including MVP’s unified lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois and MVP’s WBA lightweight world champion Stephanie Han. Reyes turned pro at 17 without an amateur background, guided by former trainer Hector Rocha, whose belief in her talent and style shaped her confidence until his passing from COVID-19 in 2020. Since, Reyes has consistently given world champions tough tests despite limited guidance, including defeating Hall of Famer Jaime Clampitt in 2022 and former world champion Yazmin Rivas in 2023, before challenging Caroline Dubois for the IBO lightweight title at Wembley Stadium in 2024 and now-WBA world champion Stephanie Han later that year. Reyes recently found structure and support in a new team, priming her to fully pursue the career she always knew she was meant to have. She most recently won by UD on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“This is just another fight for me. I’m here to prove that I’m staying at the top of my division,” said Miranda Reyes. “Fighting in my state of Texas again with MVP is an exclamation mark!”

Panatta was selected as a primary sparring partner for undisputed champion Katie Taylor during Taylor’s high-profile camps for the Amanda Serrano mega-fights, including their historic Madison Square Garden bout. Serving as Taylor’s first choice across multiple camps reflects Panatta’s technical quality, toughness, and ability to mirror elite styles with accuracy with championship-level preparation. Panatta speaks English and Spanish in addition to her native Italian. Panatta previously won the WBC Latin featherweight title, challenged for the WBA Gold featherweight title, and competed in Team Combat League as part of the Boston Butchers roster. She most recently challenged Caroline Dubois for the WBC lightweight title on MVP’s Jake vs. Joshua in December 2025.

“I feel very fortunate to have another opportunity with MVP and I’m also grateful to them,” said Camila Panatta. “There are no easy fights, but after the December fight vs Dubois, my vision is clearer than ever. I know I’m going to face a very good opponent, but I’m confident of my own level and what I’ve grown after that fight. It will be a war!”

MVP’s Jocelyn Camarillo is a 3x amateur national champion, former #1-ranked US amateur in the light flyweight division, and a proud training partner for Team USA Youth & Elite. She proudly represents Indio, California as one of the brightest young talents coming out of the Coachella Valley boxing community. Jocelyn grew up watching boxing and developed a natural passion that eventually led her to train at the historic Coachella Valley Boxing Club, where she built a strong amateur foundation and sharpened her skills among some of the region’s best athletes. Known for her speed, accuracy, and high-IQ pressure style, Jocelyn has quickly developed a reputation as a disciplined athlete with true star potential. Yazmin Martínez Jiménez is a professional boxer based in Mexico City. Boxing began as an obligation when she was 14, but over time, Martinez fell in love with the sport and decided to dedicate her life to it. That commitment translated into a strong amateur run of 30 fights with only 2 losses, setting the foundation for her professional career. She is managed by Ignacio Berinstain Rocha and trained by Erick Pérez Miranda. In the ring, Yazmin describes her style as aggressive and pressure-based — always fighting forward.

Iyana “Roxy” Verduzco is an undefeated pro boxer from Los Angeles, California. A skilled boxer-puncher and southpaw, Verduzco is recognized for her high boxing IQ, sharp timing, and quickness, training at Wild Card Boxing Club under coaches Gloria Alvarado and Marvin Somodio. She became a 21x national champion and amateur world champion, qualifying for the 2019 Olympic Trials. Coming from four generations of fighters, Verduzco draws inspiration from her uncle, undefeated kickboxer Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, and her mother, who introduced her to boxing and is her greatest motivation. Outside the ring, Verduzco, a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States, enjoys traveling and reading, owns a coffee truck, and is currently learning piano.

“Fighting under MVP and representing Los Angeles means a lot to me,” said Roxy Verduzco. “To do it alongside some of the top female superstars in the sport makes this moment even bigger. I’m ready to perform.”

Elise Soto is a 20-year-old Poughkeepsie, New York–born fighter defined by discipline, humility, and purpose, with deep Puerto Rican roots passed down through generations on her father’s side and a multicultural heritage shaped by her Mexican and French lineage through her mother. Introduced to boxing by her mother, Soto immediately found her calling despite excelling in other elite sports, committing fully to the art of boxing and the advancement of women in athletics. She began boxing at 16 and quickly rose through the U.S. amateur ranks, competing in five national tournaments, earning four silver medals, and advancing to the Olympic Trials with her mother in her corner. Guided by Amanda Serrano and Jordan Maldonado, she turned professional shortly thereafter and now trains under renowned coach Shaun George alongside Serrano and Maldonado, accelerating her growth in the ring. Outside of boxing, Soto works within her family business, Fitness Superstore USA, and is building her own fitness brand. She is deeply committed to philanthropy, focused on serving youth, individuals with disabilities, including work with the Special Olympics, and underserved communities, and is driven by faith, family, and a belief that boxing is her platform to create lasting impact. She is currently the WBO #1 and IBF #7 contender at 130lbs.

“I’m so blessed and super excited to get back in the ring. I have the absolute best management team who encouraged me to open my own gym and I did. It feels phenomenal to train and prepare in my own gym,” said Elise Soto. “This upcoming fight doesn’t happen without MVP. Being signed with the best company in boxing completes the most amazing team a fighter could have. I’m honored to fight on an amazing card alongside great fighters and on the best network ever on ESPN. Can’t wait to give everyone an exciting fight to watch and showcase for women’s boxing.”

MVP’s undefeated Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro is a 25-year-old rising contender raised in Ridgewood, New York, competed at both the 2020 and 2024 USA Boxing Olympic trials. The gifted Puerto Rican athlete is also a high fashion model, having worked for Versace, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and Polo Ralph Lauren, among others. Chaparro landed a sensational first-round KO win in his pro debut on Most Valuable Prospects 6 in April 2024, before scoring a stunning second-round knockout win on the preliminary card of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in July 2024. He also earned a first-round TKO victory on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 9 in Puerto Rico in October 2024, and knocked out Daijohn Gonzalez on Most Valuable Prospects 13 in June 2025. Chaparro most recently knocked out then-undefeated prospect David Gutierrez on Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“I’m super excited to be back in the ring,” said Alex Chaparro. “El Paso, Texas, I’m coming with skill, power, and one goal—dominate.”

Edward Ulloa Díaz is a professional boxer based in the Bronx, New York. He started boxing at 12, drawn to the sport by its independence: in the ring, everything depends on him. That self-reliance shaped a long amateur career of 52 wins and 12 losses, and it continues to define how he approaches the professional ranks. In the ring, Ulloa describes his style as well-rounded, a highly-adaptable fighter.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I’m happy MVP will let me showcase myself against Chaparro,” said Edward Ulloa. “He is a very good boxer, smart and strong, but I have a lot of experience and nothing he can do will deter me from winning that night.”

MVP’s 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “The Alley Cat” Gueche also joins the card. Fighting out of Long Beach, California, by way of Harbor City, California, Gueche most recently extended his undefeated streak with a UD win over Mario Alberto Diaz Maldonado in March 2026. With his ability to combine pinpoint precision and knockout power, Gueche has solidified his place as one of boxing’s most exciting young talents.

“This is exactly the stage I’ve been working so hard for in camp,” said Alex Gueche. “ESPN, a card stacked with champions, the whole sport watching.  I’m grateful to MVP for the platform, and on Saturday, May 30th I’m coming to El Paso to make sure nobody forgets my name when the lights go up on the headliners.”

San Antonio, Texas prospect Joshua Montoya gave himself the nickname “Spotlight” as a kid, a natural fit for someone who’s always thrived as an entertainer. Friends shortened it to “Spotty”, and the name has stuck ever since. Joshua started in MMA before transitioning to boxing at 15, logging roughly 30 amateur bouts on his way to the professional ranks. In the ring, Joshua has a fast, agile, and quick style built on movement and precision. Outside the ring, he dances, sings, streams, and creates content.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to show why I’m called ‘Spotlight’ on MVP,” said Joshua Montoya. “I’m not only a fighter, I’m an entertainer. I’m putting belt to ass on Saturday, May 30th.”

Nazarena Romero is a former WBA world champion recognized for her aggressive, high-pressure, and grueling fighting style. Romero won the vacant WBA world title in August 2024, defeating Paulette Valenzuela Cuesta by 9th round TKO to claim the belt. Romero lost her world title to Mayelli Flores via split decision in May 2025 in a closely contested bout. She also holds a notable draw against former world champion Erika Cruz, further underscoring her ability to compete at the elite level.

Albina Moldazhanova is a Russian boxer from a small settlement in Siberia called Demyanka. As an adult, she moved to the city of Tyumen, and was selected for the national boxing team. As a member of the national team, she won the Russian Youth championship, won the Russian championship, won the European Youth Championship and later became a silver medalist at the European Championships. In 2025, she earned a medal at the World Championships before turning pro. The 24-year-old now has three pro fights under her belt, with a perfect 3-0, 3 KO record. She finished two of three pro fights to date by knockout, with her opponent retiring on her stool to end the other.

“I have had 3 fights, all of which I finished early,” said Albina Moldazhanova. “I aim to continue my winning streak, demonstrate my strong Siberian character, and prove to myself and to the world that the impossible is possible.”

Claudia Herrera comes to the ring from Jesús María, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The 34-year-old most recently went the distance against Sarah French in March 2026.

NEW YORK, NY – January 29, 2026 — Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced the signings of WBC featherweight world champion at 126lbs Tiara Brown (20-0, 11 KOs), US Olympic medalist and IBF super welterweight champion at 154lbs Oshae Jones (9-0, 3 KOs), undefeated Brazilian boxer and influencer Jully Poca, Puerto Rican-American and WBA #1 super flyweight contender at 115lbs LeAnna Cruz (11-0, 1 KO), the WBO #4 and IBF #5 Puerto Rican-American contender at 130lbs Elise Soto (10-0, 9 KOs), and #8 WBA, #16 WBC, and #12 WBO Mexican-American contender Miranda Reyes (8-3-1, 3 KOs). These additions further cement MVP as the global home of women’s boxing, delivering fans the best fighters in the sport, while continuing to invest in key markets including the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Brazil.

Reigning WBC featherweight world champion Tiara Brown holds a career built on an exceptional amateur pedigree, technical excellence, and championship-level discipline. Long before capturing world honors in the professional ranks, Brown established herself as one of the most accomplished amateurs in the United States. A highly-decorated amateur, Brown was a multiple-time US national champion, competing at the highest levels of USA Boxing and consistently defeating top-tier competition across the country, culminating with a gold medal at the 2012 amateur world championships. That foundation seamlessly translated into the pro ranks, where her experience, composure, and adaptability have set her apart on the world stage. Brown’s style is defined by speed, sharp fundamentals, and intelligent pressure. She is equally comfortable boxing off the back foot or engaging in high-paced exchanges, making her one of the most technically sound and versatile fighters in women’s boxing today. Representing Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s proud boxing tradition, Brown defeated Skye Nicholson in March 2025 to claim the WBC featherweight title before successfully defending the belt against Emma Gongara in September 2025. Now with Most Valuable Promotions, Brown enters the next chapter of her career as a proven world champion backed by a global platform committed to elevating women’s boxing. She is currently ranked Boxrec’s #13 pound-for-pound female fighter and was ranked #16 among ESPN’s best women’s boxers of 2025.

“Signing with Most Valuable Promotions is a major moment in my career,” said Tiara Brown. “From my amateur foundation to becoming a world champion, every step prepared me for this level. I’ve earned everything through discipline and consistency. Now I get to showcase that experience and championship mindset on a global stage with MVP.”

Oshae Jones is a USA Olympic bronze medalist and the current IBF super welterweight world champion at 154 pounds. Before turning pro, Toledo, Ohio-born Jones built one of the most distinguished amateur résumés in modern U.S. boxing history as a multiple-time USA Boxing national champion and a long-standing member of Team USA, consistently competing against—and defeating—the best amateurs in the world. Her amateur career culminated with winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, cementing her status as one of the premier international boxers of her generation. Her style blends sharp fundamentals with controlled aggression, allowing her to dictate fights and neutralize opponents’ strengths. The 28-year-old Jones currently holds the IBF world title and resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She was ranked #23 among ESPN’s best women’s boxers of 2025 following her successful world title defense against Elia Carranza in July 2025.

“From earning an Olympic medal to becoming a two-belt world champion, every step has prepared me for this,” said Oshae Jones. “With MVP behind me, I’m ready to compete on the biggest stages and continue building my legacy.”

“My passion for boxing starts from me stepping in the ring, but it’s equally focused on what I contribute to the sport outside of the ring with MVP,” said Jake Paul. “Today’s signings reflect my continued commitment to using my platform to push boxing to the biggest audiences possible in the world.”

“Tiara, Oshae, Jully, LeAnna, Elise, and Miranda each represent a fundamental pillar of our MVP brand, world champions, Olympic pedigree, global stars, top contenders, and elite competitors with superstar potential and we are thrilled to have them join our growing roster of athletes,” said  Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions. “MVP is elevating women’s boxing across divisions and borders, and we look forward to each of our new signees making their promotional debut soon. Our mission is to ensure fans have one brand that has the best fighters in the world and today further cements that position.”

Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Jully Poca is a powerhouse athlete who has dominated the crossover boxing scene with an undefeated record. Originally Brazil’s premier female fitness influencer, her life took a sharp turn in 2023 when she was invited to compete in the UK alongside megastar Whindersson Nunes. Despite only training for three months prior to her debut, she discovered a profound passion for the sport and has spent the last three years training exclusively as a full-time boxer. Under the tutelage of renowned coach Antonio Filho, the mentor behind former WBO champion Rose Volante, Poca has solidified her status by going undefeated to date and is now set to make her fully sanctioned professional debut with Most Valuable Promotions. Beyond her technical prowess, Jully possesses a magnetic public profile built on genuine courage. She first captured the Brazilian public’s heart when she intervened in a violent road-rage incident, physically subduing a man who was attacking two women until police arrived. This act of heroism, combined with her athletic transition, has earned her a massive digital footprint. With 3 million Instagram followers, Poca is set to become the most-followed female professional boxer in the world the moment she makes her pro debut, bridging the gap between social media stardom and elite combat sports.

“I chose MVP because they don’t just put women on the card, they lead the way in putting us in the spotlight,” said Jully Poca. “Seeing how they have done with Amanda Serrano, Alycia Baumgardner and others shows me their incredible commitment to making sure female fighters are valued as we should be. While I am so grateful to everyone who has supported my journey so far, joining MVP gives me a platform to represent my country on the world stage and help take Brazilian boxing to a whole new level.”

Inside the ring, she is focused and methodical; outside the ring, she is respected for her humility, professionalism, and commitment to growth. Signing with Most Valuable Promotions represents a major milestone for Cruz, who holds ambitions for placing her on a global stage and firmly. She is the WBA #1 contender at super flyweight.

Miranda Reyes made loud statement by defeating Hall of Famer Jaime Clampitt

BOSTON (July 20, 2022) – It’s extremely rare for a 20-year-old boxer to defeat a Hall of Fame inductee like Houston lightweight Miranda Reyes (6-1-1, 3 KOs) did this past June 24th against Jaime “Hurricane” Clampitt (23-6-2, 7 KOs), a Class of 2020 International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHOF) inductee.

Clampitt, 46, is a 4-time World Champion who relocated to Rhode Island from Canada, where she was a National Champion, at the beginning of her professional boxing career. Last year, she came out of a 9-year retirement, winning her first two comeback fights prior to fighting Reyes at Bally’s Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

“I accepted the fight right away when it was offered,” Reyes explained, “but a lot of people kept telling me to get out of the fight. I’m not that type of person, though. I go out of my comfort zone to do new things. People kept saying I was only a B side fighter, but I knew what I was capable of doing. I did go into the fight thinking I may lose because, in my mind, you lose in this sport. I’m not afraid of losing but if I’m going to lose, I’m leaving it all in the ring, learning from the experience.”

Not only did Reyes upset a Hall of Famer, but she did also so in Clampitt’s backyard, taking an impressive 8-round unanimous decision (79-73, 78-74, 78-74). Equally remarkable is that Reyes was coming off a loss to 1-4-1 Jaica Pavilus.

“I’m really proud of myself,” Reyes said. “She’s a Hall of Famer who I really look up to. Someday I hope to be in her position. It think it’s really cool what she’s done in boxing for so long. I fought in her backyard with everybody supporting her. It was like me against all of Rhode Island. I was really confident because of all the hard work I had put in. I was supposed to fight April 30th (that fell through), so I was in camp for 3 months for this fight, pushing myself hard because I was fighting Jaime in my first 8-round fight. I didn’t put in the same effort when I lost to Jaica. I trained 9 to 3 every day for Jaime.”

Reyes is the lone female in the Fighter Locker stable, which is owned and operated by manager Ryan Roach.

“I am extremely proud of Miranda,” Roach commented. “She came up here out of her comfort zone and fought her way to a major win. That’s what makes champions. She is getting uncomfortable. I knew this was the right fight at the right time. She had a great camp with Marlen Esparza. Miranda was a completely different fighter from her last fight. We will enjoy this victory for now and decide what is best for her, but all the boxing doors are open as of now!”

“Ryan has moved me much more than I had been, arranging fights and even paying for some of them,” Reyes noted. “He has really helped my career. What I really like about Ryan is he believes in me. Before the fight, he told me I would beat Jaime.”

Reyes made a loud statement and, hopefully, it’ll start paying off soon in terms of higher profile, more lucrative fights.

“A lot of people have started recognizing me since my last fight,” Reyes concluded. “Before, I think a lot were sleeping on me. I still have a long way to go, but I’m not pushing things. I’m taking it one fight at a time. My goal is to get in the ring against big-time fighters. Again, I’m going to take it one fight at time right now. I don’t pay too much attention to goals, but I want to keep progressing, take my time, fight the best and see what happens.”

Miranda Reyes may have just pulled off the 2022 Upset of the Year in women’s professional boxing!

Fighter Locker’s growing stable of gifted boxers also New York’s ABF American West super lightweight Ray Jay “The Destroyer” Bermudez (16-0, 11 KOs), Colorado’s ABF American West super middleweight champion “The Amazing” Shawn McCalman (11-0, 6 KOs), Massachusetts super lightweight Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (12-0, 9 KOs), Florida super bantamweight Daniel “The Dedication” Bailey, Jr. (10-1, 5 KOs), Massachusetts featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs), 2-time Brazilian Olympian & 2016 Olympic silver medalist flyweight Yuberjen Martinez, Brazilian 2-time Dominican Olympian, lightweight Leonel de los Santos (6-0, 5 KOs), Dominican super welterweight Juan Solano Santos (1-0, 1 KO), Dominican featherweight Orlando Perez Zapata (11-0, 9 KOs), Dominican lightweight Isaelin Florian Henriguez (9-1, 4 KOs), Florida light heavyweight Robert Daniels, Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs), Irish light heavyweight Tommy “The Kid” O’Toole (4-0, 3 KOs), Kansas brothers, welterweight Marcus Davidson (4-0, 4 KOs) and super lightweight Marcell Davidson (2-0, 1 KO), and Utah brothers, ABF American West lightweight champion Ignacio Chairez (8-1-1, 5 KOs) and lightweight Gabriel Chairez (4-0-1, 2 KOs).

Up-and-coming Reyes outworks Hall of Famer Clampitt for upset victory Friday in main event of Summer Splash at Ballys Twin River live on BXNG TV

Lincoln, RI – With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Texas’ Miranda Reyes earned the biggest win of her young career.

The 20-year-old Reyes (6-1-1) upset four-time world champion and International Women’s Boxing Hall of Famer Jaime “Hurricane” Clampitt Friday night live on BXNG TV at Ballys Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort in the main event of CES Boxing’s Summer Splash, the promotion’s first event at Ballys since 2019.

Despite being 26 years younger than Clampitt (23-6-2) with only six pro fights under her belt entering the weekend, Reyes was the aggressor Friday, rebounding from her first career loss in February with a 79-73, 78-74, 78-74 win.

Clampitt, who came out of retirement last summer, lost for the first time since 2010, a defeat at the hands of Holly Holm in Albuquerque. The Saskatchewan native and Warwick, RI, resident entered Friday four months removed from a win over regional rival Kim Wabik in February, but the young, hungry Reyes presented a much different challenge.

While Wabik was more of a defensive fighter looking for an opportunity to counterpunch, Reyes came out swinging from the opening bell, applying pressure to Clampitt and landed the more damaging punches between the two. Clampitt found her footing in the middle rounds, but her output simply could not match Reyes; the 20-year-old prospect continued to land the cleaner blows on a consistent basis, earning the win decisively on all three scorecards.

In the co-main event, hard-hitting Sicilian heavyweight Juiseppe Cusumano (20-4, 18 KOs) earned his first win since November of 2020 and his milestone 20th victory, stopping Brazilian veteran Irineu Beato Costa Junior (19-12) at the 1:20 mark of the opening round of their scheduled eigh-round bout.

Friday’s win was especially important for Cusumano, who suffered a tough loss to Daniel Dubois in August, prompting him to move his entire training camp to New England, finding a new home at Champs Boxing & Fitness in Danbury, CT. A leaner, more determined Cusumano made quick of Costa, flattening his opponent with his trademark overhand right, his 10th win under the guidance of CES since signing with the promotion in 2017; Cusumano has now won as many fights in five years with CES as he did in the first seven years of his pro career.

Making his Ballys debut, Weymouth, MA, super middleweight Francis Hogan (11-0) faced a tall order in a six-round showdown against Brazilian Rodrigo Lopes Rodrigues (8-3), but cruised to 60-54 unanimous decision win, going the distance for the first time in his pro career.

The 6-foot-2 southpaw, fighting for the first time signing a long-term promotional agreement with CES, Hogan stayed busy from the first to final bell, out-working the hard-nosed Rodrigues, who continued to press forward despite the ferocity of Hogan’s jab and looping left hands. Rodrigues had his moments, but Hogan weathered every storm to earn his 11th victory in just under two-and-a-half years since turning pro.

The knockout of the night belonged to rising super featherweight prospect Alejandro Paulino (10-0, 9 KOs), who entered the ring at 130 pounds – the lowest weight of his career – and looked as dangerous as ever, stopping Brazilian challenger Aldimar Silva (22-20) at 54 seconds of the opening round of their scheduled six-round bout.

Paulino went the distance in his previous fight, surviving a knockdown to beat Andrew Rodgers, but wasted no time disposing of Silva, beating fellow Big Six Boxing Academy stablemate James Maner by one second for the fastest knockout of the night. Maner, the 6-foot-3 southpaw middleweight from Providence, RI, flatted Dan Bunyan (0-2) of New York in 55 seconds in the event’s opening bout.

Other Summer Splash results included:Stoughton, MA, heavyweight Sean Bey (6-0, 6 KOs), also fighting out of Big Six, remained unbeaten with a second-round knockout win over Mexican Elder Hernandez Gama (5-4) at the 1:04 mark
Taking the fight on just 24 hours’ notice, Boston, MA, lightweight Jonathan de Pina (8-1) outworked Argentinian Mario Lozano (18-7-1) via unanimous decision 60-54, 60-54, 59-55. Lozano was originally scheduled to face Kevin Walsh, who was forced to withdraw due to injury, and de Pina was originally scheduled to fight Friday in Mexico, but his felt fell through earlier in the week.
