MOST VALUABLE PROMOTIONS’ JAKE VS. JOSHUA POST-FIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

MIAMI, FL  –  December 19, 2025 –? Most Valuable Promotions’ (MVP) highly anticipated Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day took place tonight at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, streaming live only on Netflix at no additional cost to its 300+ million members worldwide. The event featured boxing’s biggest disruptor, international superstar and WBA #14-ranked cruiserweight Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) as he faced his most formidable challenge to date, the victorious two-time unified WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world champion, Olympic gold medalist and knockout machine Anthony “AJ” Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) in a sanctioned professional heavyweight bout. The global megafight marked Paul’s second live boxing event on Netflix following his record-breaking bout against Mike Tyson in November 2024 and continued MVP and Netflix’s run of delivering must-watch, culture-defining live sporting events on a global scale.

At the press conference following the fights, the fighters had much to discuss.

ANTHONY JOSHUA QUOTES

On dealing with Jake Paul and what he could have done better: What I could have done better is a lot of things, 100%. In the fight game, you’ve seen the amazing fighters that have graced us over the last hundred years. The expectations that we put on ourselves are immense, but I tried my best. Jake [did] well while it lasted….I wish that I could have knocked him out at the start, but as we saw tonight, Jake has spirit. He has some heart. He tried his best, and I take my hat off to him because number one, a lot of fighters haven’t got in the ring with me, and Jake did. And secondly, even when he got knocked down, he kept on trying to get up, and I take my hat off to him. So, America, I think you have someone who could potentially, if he still has the heart for it, come back again, dust the dirt off his shoulder, and come again, and maybe sell out this center sometime in 2026.

On clinching, body shots, and the finish:  In the clinch, he [did] really well. When you’re in survival mode, you’ll always find a way. I was trying to look for certain shots. I actually wanted to let my hands go in the clinch, but he [did] well to tie my hands up. And as you could see, when they were free, I tried to land a few body shots. And yeah, I tried when I could. It was a bit messy, but from a systematical breakdown, the right hand landed, it found its home, and the referee waved it off after. I would’ve loved to have landed some more body shots, but it wasn’t for tonight. Maybe in the future, but we got the job done in the end anyway.

On whether his win over Jake Paul was a “success”: No. I needed to do better. No, it’s a win, but it’s not a success. I think my coach expects more from me, and I expect more for myself. But what can we do? We can’t reverse the clock. I have to move forward. I have to put that in the past now. After today, you may see a bit of social media trying to lap up all of the algorithm attention, but for me, it’s in the past. I can’t live off of that win. I’ve got a lot of improvement that I need to do, so yeah, I’m not happy.

On falling out of love with boxing and regaining his focus: I had to take a look at my life, make necessary changes to put my love back to the sport. This sport is unforgiving. If you don’t give a hundred percent attention, those belts would be torn away from you and be put on someone else’s waist who gives it the love and attention that boxing needs. I wasn’t giving it enough love and attention. It wasn’t that I stepped away because I didn’t want to fight. It’s that I stepped away because I knew if I’m going to be in boxing, I need to be a hundred percent.

On whether he would go straight into the Tyson-Fury fight from here: Yeah. I would.

NAKISA BIDARIAN QUOTES

On the outcome of the fight: I could not be happier with the fact that Jake is safe, and more so that he showed his heart. I don’t know if you guys were looking on Twitter, but until about 20 minutes ago, the number one trending thing on Twitter wasn’t Jake Paul getting knocked out, wasn’t Jake Paul, wasn’t Anthony Joshua. It literally was the phrase #RespectForJakePaul. And I can tell you guys, I have so much respect for that young man.

On MVP’s growth in the past year: It just speaks to [MVP’s] ability to disrupt the sport led by Jake Paul at the forefront for a company that started in August of 2021, so a little bit less than four years ago. And I’m excited about what our prospects are going into 2026 in terms of boxing, in terms of women’s boxing, in terms of going international, and in terms of getting into different business lines as well. We’ve shown we can put on the biggest events in the world with the biggest distributor in the world, and having their support and their confidence and their belief in what Jake and I do on the rest of the team is invaluable.

On Jake’s performance vs. Anthony Joshua: The reality is Jake lost because of the size difference, not because of the skill difference. AJ was hanging on that neck, pushing him down. And when you have someone that heavy constantly doing that, it does suck the energy out of you. AJ talked about sucking out or taking out the man’s soul. He didn’t take out his soul. He did take out his energy, and that’s when he was able to get the finish.

On the UK’s reaction to Jake vs. Joshua: I’m going to leave you guys with this. I saw a lot of comments, particularly from the UK, about Jake Paul as a novice boxer who shouldn’t be in the ring with Anthony Joshua. He took some rounds from Anthony Joshua. It took Anthony Joshua six rounds to put out a man who’s been in the sport for six years and took on the challenge in four weeks, so put some respect on Jake Paul’s name in the UK.

On conspiracy theories about the fight being “rigged”: It was interesting. Every time I spoke about this as a dangerous fight or put out a tweet that said no matter what happens, he’s already won, it turned into “you don’t even believe in your man.” But on the flip side was “the event is rigged, Jake’s going to win” or “he’s not going to knock him out.” Maybe the powers that be in boxing paid Jake Paul a loss tonight. Maybe that’s what happened. Maybe it was a flip rigged, right? Jake was going to kick AJ’s ass. But the reality is, my hope was that nobody would get hurt from the first fight of the night to the last fight of the night. And ultimately that’s what happened.

ALYCIA BAUMGARDNER QUOTES

On making history as just the second unified women’s world champion in history to defend her titles with 12 three-minute rounds: I’m still soaking in this win. And like I said, when Nakisa mentioned, ‘Hey, three minutes, 12 rounds, what do you think?’ I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ And to be able to say that I did it, I made history. I’m the best woman fighter there is in the game right now. My skills are a 10/10 and I’m only getting better. And that’s the thing. You guys see just glimpses of who Alycia Baumgardner is. And this was just one of those moments where you saw just a little bit. So I’m looking forward to what the future looks like and still continuing to fight these 12, three-minute rounds.

On setting a new standard for women’s boxing: I feel amazing after that performance. And yes, there is a standard, and there’s high expectations that I have for myself. The expectations that MVP has for me, when you think of an athlete, when you think of someone who is a competitor, you think of Alycia Bumgardner, and you think about Alycia stepping up to the plate and showcasing what she always talks about and backing it up. And so yes, it is a standard and I think it only gets better. Like he said, the knockout came in that last [third] minute. So I know exactly what that feeling is, and I know exactly how I want to do things moving forward.

On Caroline Dubois calling her out: Listen, like I said before, she’s a puppy, right? And with puppies, they need some potty training, and that’s what she needs. She needs some potty training before she steps up to a big dog like myself. And like I said, the standard that I’m setting for myself is 12 rounds, three minutes, and I saw her performance. She looked like she got tired, and she didn’t look like what she talks about. So she knows exactly what she has to do, and I know what I’m doing. There’s a difference.”

CHERNEKA JOHNSON QUOTES

On what’s next for women’s boxing in 2026 and beyond: I think MVP is on the right path with already providing that platform for women. They’ve got a big stable, and they’re able to make those fights happen with all the women that they have at the moment. I think there’s going to be some great fights happening within the division and within the stable of MVP fighters [next year]..

On defending her belts: I just wanted to make a shoutout to MVP for providing this platform for us and to be able to showcase our skills. It’s been incredible to be on another amazing show. For my first defense of my belts and to be a part of this incredible show here in Miami is just another opportunity to be able to level up once again.

CAROLINE DUBOIS QUOTES

On her US debut and recent MVP signing: I want to say thank you to Miami, thank you to MVP, thank you to Jake Paul and Nakisa for getting me on the card on such short notice. We signed for the fight two weeks ago, and it was just an option of like, ‘Are you going to take it, yes or no?’ And we said yes. So I’m very happy to be given the opportunity.  Every kid’s dream growing up is to fight in America. I was able to achieve that today, and it was really surreal this week. Really surreal. But I was happy to get it out of the way. Even coming on [as] early [on the card] as I did, I was just so happy to get it out the way. I know that the next fight is going to be a big one. And if it’s in America, if it’s in the UK, I’ve done it, I’ve been there, I’ve done it. There’s no pressure.

On the next steps for women’s boxing: Super fights between the best fighters, the best. Buildups, we need to have buildups. We need to have competition. We need to have that friction, that controversy in terms of somewhat A-side thinks they’re going to win, a B-side thinks they’re going to win. And when you have that against two elite fighters where no one can decide, and it’s fifty-fifty, that’s big fights, that’s big money.

ANDERSON “THE SPIDER” SILVA  QUOTES

On fighting at age 50: I don’t think about my age. I am training with the young guys every day, and I keep doing a lot of different training and I think age is only a number.

On the difference between MMA and boxing: It’s two different sports. Boxing for me is hard because the footwork, hands up the whole time, is very hard for me. But it’s two different sports. I think MMA is, you have different disciplines to learn. In boxing, you have to work on your footwork, your hands up, and a lot of different techniques. But for me, boxing is hard. It’s very hard to learn.

EDDIE HEARN QUOTES

On Jake Paul’s performance and future after fighting Joshua: I really take my hat off to [Jake Paul]. As AJ said, look, that last shot would’ve knocked out a lot of heavyweights. And I know he went down heavily, but he was conscious on the floor. There’s a lot of negative people out there. There’s a lot of people who want to criticize people. They’re not doing what Jake Paul’s done. He just went in with Anthony Joshua and gave it his best shot.

It took Anthony Joshua longer then most expected, but once he caught up to Jake Paul, he bludgeoned the YouTube star and scored four knockdowns en-route to a sixth round stoppage at The Kaseya Center in Miami.

Paul started the fight by circling the exterior of the ring like he was trying out for the Olympic track team, not really looking to engage and looking to land a pot shot from time to time. Joshua loaded up on several occasions and swung at air.

Hosted by renowned combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, the fighters had plenty to say at the press conference about their upcoming matchups. See quotes below and view the full press conference on Netflix Sport’s YouTube and MVP’s YouTube.

JAKE PAUL QUOTES

On if he thinks Joshua is taking him seriously: Yeah, absolutely. And rightfully so. It’s smart on his part, but I believe he’s locked in and knows that this could potentially be the biggest loss and will be the biggest loss of his career. He has so much to lose in this fight. That’s what I plan on bringing to the table is the strategy behind this. I’ve got him in the corner and I know that those nerves are going to kick in once he sees what I can do to him.

On Joshua’s “licensed to kill” mentality: Let’s fucking go, bro. Let’s put on a show for the fans. Let’s go to war. Men have done crazier things throughout human history. This is the modern day gladiator sport. This is what we’re here to do is fuck each other up and I’m ready. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it’s all said and done, and let’s fucking kill each other.

On if he sees the fight as “old guard vs. new guard”: Not really. No… I think no one’s done more for the sport of boxing in the past decade than myself. So I think if people really cared about boxing, they’d want me to win. But I see where the angle that they’re coming from is that he’s the traditional boxer, has been doing it his whole life, etc. But I think that I’m more important for the sport of boxing. So if they actually cared about the sport, they would want me to win.

On critics and fighters who claim his fights are not “real”: I give them a cease and desist letter in their email for lying on my name. Then the lawsuit’s coming right after because these people won’t stop lying. I honestly take it as a compliment, but people need to shut the fuck up. Deontay Wilder, he’s been hit a lot by Tyson Fury, so he’s clearly not the smartest guy, but there’s nothing in the contract. AJ can attest to it. We’re going to war and that’s the end of the day that all my fights have been like.

On whether he believes this would be the biggest upset in sports history: Yeah, 100%. This is the Giants vs the Patriots 2007. I mean, the list goes on, but the odds are stacked against me. There’s no sporting teams in history that have gone together where it’s this big of a difference in terms of skill, experience, resume, height, weight, etc. So this is going to be the biggest upset in the history of sports and you guys get to witness it

ANTHONY JOSHUA QUOTES

On criticism from Tyson Fury over his “kill” comments: It’s my job. We fight. We’re licensed to kill. I’m sure many people don’t understand it, but this is what my job is. When you’re in that ring, it’s a dangerous place to be and anything can happen. You hope your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don’t, you still have to go to bed knowing that you just done your job. It wasn’t personal.

On whether he feels pressure to represent “real” boxing against Jake Paul: People don’t like the fact that I’m fighting Jake. Whether that concerns me or not is another question. But if we look at the people that don’t want me to be here, but they want me to put an end to Jake Paul’s show, I understand it and that’s why I have to carry boxing on my back with this fight.

On what fans can expect who’ve never seen him fight before: A good ring entrance. A guy that’s very well-conditioned, understands the squared circle very well, understands himself very well, and is in a good place mentally and a good place physically. And just ready to go to, I want to say go to a war, but ready to showcase my skills, my punch selection, and my punch power. Basics. I’m looking forward to it.

On what a loss to Jake Paul would mean for his legacy: Come back again. You shake it off. And I’ll be headlining again in a year or two. It’s what it is. I’m a player in the game. You take some L’s, but without the L’s, you wouldn’t be here, ain’t it? You take some Ws, you dust it off. And then when I’m ready to hang up my gloves, I hang up my gloves and everyone would say, ‘Yeah, you done well. He was a tough competitor. But it is what it is. I’ve taken L’s and I’m standing strong now.

On whether Jake’s fearlessness creates a challenge for him: Jake Paul creates a great challenge for me, and he’s got a great mindset for sure. Great family, great brother, great person. So yeah, he definitely creates a good challenge for me. But as I said earlier, competition is really good.

ALYCIA BAUMGARDNER QUOTES

On why she wanted to fight under the same rules as men: MVP stands for equality and they gave me the option and I took the challenge. As always, I am a competitor. I never back down. I always say yes. And again, you will see just an awesome athlete, a woman athlete, Friday night doing what she does best.

Responding to Dubois’ remarks about a future matchup and the debate over the face of women’s boxing: I mean, baby, I’m the co-main event for a reason. So listen, one thing about a puppy, you got to train them and you got to take your time with them puppies. So take your time. Be patient. Let the big dog do what the big dog do. Eat. All right. I’m here. This ain’t the UK, this is the USA – we going to welcome you real good here in Miami. So yeah, let’s have a good time Friday night. Welcome to the team. We’re both on the same card and you guys can make up your mind.

LEILA BEAUDOIN QUOTES

On Baumgardner’s confident trash talk and her own approach: I really don’t mind what she says. I believe in myself. I know my worth.

ANDERSON SILVA QUOTES

On motivation at age 50: The motivation is passion and love. And I have my biggest idol [Roy Jones] here in front of me. I remember when I was watching Mr. Roy Jones fighting in the Olympic Games, I just looked and said, ‘Whoa, one day I will become a champion the same as this man.’ And I’m here today to show him my respect for the boxing community.

TYRON WOODLEY QUOTES

On fighting Anderson Silva: I feel like for me, it’s my chance to go forward to increase my legacy. And for once, it’s an opportunity for me to fight somebody that brings my value up. Anderson, that’s the type of excitement that I got when the fight was requested. And it didn’t take me long. I really said yes almost before we even talked about it, so it’s time to get it on. Can’t wait.

JAHMAL HARVEY QUOTES

On fighting on the main card: It’s an honor. A dream come true. I’m sitting up here with all these champions sitting around all this great talent, just my second pro fight and being able to showcase my talent on Netflix to the world. Like you said, second pro fight, not a lot of people get this opportunity. And I’m not going to take this opportunity for granted. I’ve been training. I’ve been ready since back in November and I just got more time to prepare. So now y’all just going to see an extra ferocious beast in the ring.

KEVIN CERVANTES QUOTES

On what he has to do to beat Jahmal Harvey: Well, thank you for the opportunity. Thank God. Thank you, MVP. I think that what I have to do is stand there and show what I can do.

CHERNEKA JOHNSON QUOTES

On Amanda Galle as an opponent: Amanda had a great last fight. I’m expecting her to come with all that she has. I’ve got something that she wants and when you want something, you fight for it, but she’s never fought anyone like me before.

AMANDA GALLE QUOTES

On fighting for the undisputed title: I’ve been in the game for 20 years. Everything I’ve been through to this moment has prepared me to execute. Friday night, a whole bunch of skills that Neekz hasn’t seen. 20 years experience. I’m ready to execute it all and come Friday night we are going to be the fight of the night.

CAROLINE DUBOIS QUOTES

On her US debut and MVP signing: It’s a blessing, a privilege, and I’m soaking it all in. I think every kid’s dream is to fight in America. I remember growing up watching Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones and all these guys, these are American superstars. And when you make it in America, you make it. Having the opportunity to cross the pond so early in my career is a blessing, a privilege. Honestly, I just can’t wait to go out there, perform, and have everybody knowing my name because I know that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

On a potential fight with Alycia Baumgardner: I feel like for women’s boxing, me vs Alycia Baumgardner is one of the best fights for women’s boxing…..I’m hearing a lot of talk about Alycia being the face of women’s boxing and the best woman boxer. And I disagree with that 100%. I think it’s awesome that we’re both on the same card and you will be able to make up your own mind about who is the best.

CAMILLA PANATTA QUOTES

On fighting Dubois, the hype of her debut, and the idea of spoiling it: I’m here for this. I’m not here just to show up. I know the level of this fight because I know Caroline. And first of all, I want to say thank you to MVP for this great opportunity in my career. And I know her level, but I also know what I’ve done my whole career. And I think I deserve to be here and show that I deserve this fight

YOKASTA VALLE QUOTES

On sparring with her opponent and defending her title: I know that I did some sparring with her and I know she wants to fight me. She is a warrior. She is strong, and she wants to be world champion, but I’m here to defend myself.

YADIRA BUSTILLOS QUOTES

On her second title shot and what fans can expect: I’m coming to get my belt that I’ve been waiting for for a long time. I want to thank MVP and Jake Paul for giving me this opportunity. I’m truly excited to be here, and I can’t wait to show you guys my skills. And the sparring session was just a sparring session, and I’m prepared to show you guys what my skills are.

AVIOUS GRIFFIN QUOTES

On coming back after losing: Yeah, well we went back to the lab and we started from the ground up and just been working on the base. That was just the first loss that y’all seen, but I’ve had plenty of losses that I bounced back from and Friday y’all will see me bounce back from another.

JUSTIN CARDONA QUOTES

On preparing for Griffin: I stay ready all year round and there’s plenty of things I seen that I could just give you, but I’m just going to keep that to myself and you guys will see coming fight night. I’ll be walking out of there victorious.

KENO MARLEY QUOTES

On fighting on the card and sharing it with Anderson Silva: I’m very happy to be here participating in this great card in this biggest event together with Anderson Silva, Jake, and Joshua. This is a dream come true for me, and I’m going to continue to grow in this community.

DIARRA DAVIS JR QUOTES

On the meaning of his nickname “The Gift”: That’s the meaning of my name. My name is Dier, like the air we breathe. So that’s why he calls me ‘Gift.’

Jake vs. Joshua will be available to stream live globally on all Netflix plans, at no additional cost to subscribers on Friday, December 19. The broadcast will feature live commentary in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German.

TRAINING CAMP NOTES: Justin Cardona Shares Insights Ahead of December 19 Showdown Against Avious Griffin

MIAMI, FL (December 15, 2025) – Rising welterweight prospect, Justin “The Stallion” Cardona (10-1, 5 KOs) has wrapped up training camp as he readies himself for the biggest opportunity of his professional career. Cardona will face dangerous knockout artist Avious Griffin (17-1, 16 KOs) in an 8-round welterweight bout on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The bout will take place on the highly anticipated Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua card, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and broadcast live globally on Netflix, placing Cardona on one of the largest stages in modern boxing.

Cardona emphasized that consistency and preparation have been the foundation of his growth, noting that the camp has sharpened his conditioning, timing, and confidence heading into fight night. Reflecting on the work he’s put in behind closed doors, Cardona expressed gratitude for the process and the people around him. “This camp has probably been the most focused and disciplined of my career,” said Cardona on his recent training camp. “Every day, my team pushed me to get better — not just physically, but mentally. We didn’t cut corners. We studied, we worked, and we stayed humble. I’m thankful to have a team that believes in me and holds me accountable, because that’s what prepares you for moments like this.”

Acknowledging the challenge Griffin presents while remaining confident in his own preparation, Cardona spoke respectfully of his opponent. Rather than overlooking the danger, Cardona made it clear that respect and readiness are central to his mindset heading into the bout. “Avious Griffin is a strong, explosive fighter with a lot of knockouts, and I respect what he’s done in the ring,” Cardona said regarding Avious Griffin and his power. “Anyone with that record deserves respect. At the same time, I trust my preparation and my skills. I’ve trained for every scenario, and I’m ready to go in there and compete at the highest level.”

Focused on performance rather than outcomes, trusting that results will follow, Cardona added that he remains grounded. For Cardona, this fight represents more than just another victory, it’s a defining opportunity. “A win on this stage would mean everything,” Cardona explained on what a win would mean for his career. “I’ve worked my whole life for opportunities like this. It would show that the sacrifices, the setbacks, and the long nights were worth it. But more than anything, it would open the door to bigger opportunities and allow me to keep building toward my goals the right way.”

Appearing on a globally streamed Netflix card is a milestone Cardona does not take lightly. Cardona concluded by emphasizing that he plans to make the most of the moment — not with words, but with performance. “I’m extremely grateful to MVP for believing in me and giving me this platform,” said Cardona on fighting on MVP’s global Netflix event. “Fighting on a global event like this, on Netflix, is something most fighters only dream about. I don’t take it for granted. I’m proud to represent myself, my family, and my team on a stage that reaches fans all over the world.”

With momentum building and the boxing world watching, Justin Cardona vs. Avious Griffin promises to be a compelling welterweight clash on one of the year’s most talked-about cards. Fight fans can catch all the action live on Netflix on December 19, 2025, from the Kaseya Center in Miami.

MOST VALUABLE PROMOTIONS’ GLOBAL BOXING SUPERSTAR JAKE PAUL TO FACE MATCHROOM BOXING’S HEAVYWEIGHT POWERHOUSE ANTHONY JOSHUA IN MVP’S ‘JAKE VS. JOSHUA: JUDGMENT DAY’ ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19 FROM KASEYA CENTER IN MIAMI, FLORIDA, LIVE GLOBALLY ONLY ON NETFLIX

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Netflix today announced Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day, a colossal global showdown between boxing’s biggest disruptor, international superstar and WBA #14-ranked cruiserweight Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and two-time unified WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world champion, Olympic gold medalist and knockout machine Anthony “AJ” Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs). Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day will be a sanctioned, professional heavyweight bout contested over 8, three-minute rounds with 10oz gloves. The fight is set to take place on Friday, December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, and will stream live globally, only on Netflix at no additional cost to its 300+ million members.

Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day represents the most dangerous test of Jake Paul’s nascent career. The matchup unites Paul, the sport’s most-watched fighter whose showmanship has redefined modern boxing and shattered records at every turn, with Joshua, one of boxing’s most accomplished, respected, and feared punchers, a global icon who twice unified the heavyweight division, and has headlined sold-out stadiums across the UK and beyond. This will be Paul’s second live event on Netflix in just over a year following his record-breaking victory over Mike Tyson in November 2024. Tickets for Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day will go on sale Friday, November 21 at 12pm ET at Ticketmaster.com, and fans can sign up for presale now at jakevsjoshua.com. The event will also feature MVP’s exclusive VIP experiences, including the MVP Owner’s Experience.

Paul and Joshua will meet face-to-face for the Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day Kickoff Press Conference on Friday, November 21 at 1pm ET at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida and will be free and open to the public on a first come first served basis. The press conference will be hosted by renowned combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani and will stream live on MVP’s YouTube Channel and Netflix Sports’ YouTube Channel. All media interested in being credentialed to cover the press conference must apply HERE.

The American pride of Puerto Rico, Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul has shown tremendous growth as a boxer on his path to becoming a world champion, and now will look to prove he has what it takes against one of the most feared punchers in boxing and greatest pound-for-pound heavyweights in the world, Anthony Joshua.

“This isn’t an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day,” said Jake Paul. “A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted. To the people of the United Kingdom, I am sorry. On Friday, December 19, under the lights in Miami, live globally only on Netflix, the torch gets passed and Britain’s Goliath gets put to sleep. I KNOWWWW YOU GOT EM PICKED HAHAHHA”

Ahead of his showdown with Jake Paul, Anthony “AJ” Joshua enters the ring as one of the most accomplished heavyweights of his era. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist and two-time unified world champion has headlined stadiums across the globe, battled legends like Wladimir Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk, and most recently delivered a devastating knockout of Francis Ngannou before facing IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

“Jake or anyone can get this work. No mercy,” said Anthony Joshua OBE. “I took some time out and I’m coming back with a mega show. It’s a big opportunity for me. Whether you like it or not, I’m here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected. Mark my words, you’ll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I’m about to break the internet over Jake Paul’s face.”

“Everyone laughed when Jake Paul said in March that he wanted to fight AJ in 2026,” said Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions. “Well, plans changed, and in under two weeks, MVP and Netflix have made one of the biggest fights of all time. Now, as only Jake Paul could and would do, he’s fighting one of the most fearsome boxers in the world. Joshua has every advantage in this fight, except one – the delusional confidence of Jake Paul, and if anyone can shock the world, it’s him. This is a global clash between two of the most recognizable figures in the sport, Jake, the face of boxing’s new era, and Joshua, the King of UK boxing.”

“Anthony Joshua is one of the most formidable and decorated heavyweights in the world – the ultimate test for any fighter,” said Gabe Spitzer, Vice President, Sports, Netflix. “We have immense respect for Jake Paul’s decision to take this challenge; it demonstrates the fearless ambition he has for his career. This is exactly why Netflix is in the live business: we love taking big swings and delivering the biggest, must-watch cultural spectacles.”

“They say be careful what you wish for, kind of feel like that’s all I need to say,” said Eddie Hearn, Chairman Matchroom. “Two of the biggest names in the sport will collide on Dec 19. Whilst I admire Jake’s balls, he’s going to find out the hard way in Miami.”

Additional information, including undercard bouts and co-main event details, will be announced in the coming weeks.”

About Anthony Joshua

Anthony “AJ” Joshua claimed Olympic gold for Team Great Britain at London 2012 before becoming one of the biggest heavyweight stars in the world. AJ then fought Robert Helenius on short notice, earning a devastating knockout of the year contender in the seventh round, then landed a headline slot in Saudi Arabia in December 2023 against Otto Wallin, who retired on his stool at the end of the fifth round. In March 2024, Joshua delivered a devastating second-round Knockout of the Year against MMA star Francis Ngannou. In pursuit of becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion, Joshua most recently took on then-IBF title holder, fellow Brit and former sparring partner Daniel Dubois in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.
